This week at Bungie, it's about to get spooky.

Mark your calendars, Guardians, because October 29 is a day filled with updates that will appeal to just about every player in this community. We have a full menu of activities to tackle, challenges to master, and Exotic loot to add to your collection.

Festival of the Lost is about to return. We have a full preview of the festivities Guardians can look forward to next week. The Moon isn't the only thing that's haunted. The Haunted Forrest will be back, and the Tower will be spookier than ever.

A new dungeon is also opening up to willing fireteams or brave Guardians who want to tackle it alone. Speak with Eris; she knows the way.

The Crucible is about to gain some momentum as well, changing the way Guardians meet in glorious combat.

Earlier this week, Banshee sent Season Pass owners out on a quest to claim the Leviathan's Breath Exotic Bow. If you haven't completed the quest yet, check this out.

On top of all that, there's another Exotic quest going live for Shadowkeep owners. You may have seen pictures of a replica we had made of the "bug gun" from past events. It's time for you to go out and claim the Xenophage as your own.

Where will your path take you first? There will be many options for you to consider, depending on how you like to play the most.

    Continue the Momentum

    Image Linkimgur

Next week, Lord Shaxx is mixing things up in the Crucible with a new mode called Momentum Control. While Mayhem puts focus on Supers, Momentum shifts your focus to gunplay. This is a fast-paced, hair-on-fire experience where the lethality of all weapons has been cranked to 11. You're incentivized to be aggressive as you defeat other Guardians to earn charged melees, grenades, and Supers. Here's a quick rundown of what to expect:

    • Instant Respawn Times

      • Out of the fight? No problem; drop right back in immediately
    • Weapon Damage Increased

      • Higher combat lethality
      • Everything in your arsenal is a contender
    • Ability Regen Requires Effort

      • Defeat enemy players to charge your melee, grenade, and Super
    • No Tracker

      • Sneak around your enemies for some sweet flanks
    • Amped Control

      • Zones capture faster and grant more bonus points per kill
    • Super Charged Supers

      • Increased damage resist in Super means you become the 1,000-pound gorilla
      • Be careful, because Heavy weapons will put you down quickly
    • The Heaviest of Ammo

      • Increased Heavy ammo respawn rates and drop amounts

Many of us who have been playtesting this have compared it to the classic Halo custom game SWAT, but for Destiny. We've done a lot of trying out different weapons and seeing how they behaved in this heavily modified sandbox of a mode.

Momentum will be the featured 6v6 rotating playlist during Festival of the Lost. We'll be monitoring the community's response to see when we want to bring it back.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

    Triumphant

Now that we're neck deep in Season of the Undying, we wanted to talk about some changes to Seasonal Triumphs in the third year of Destiny 2. You may have noticed some of the changes to the system and the Destiny Dev Team wanted to let you know some of our thinking behind why we are adjusting Triumphs going forward.

    Destiny Dev Team:

As always, we start with the goals:

    • Provide more tiers of pursuit for players
    • Provide Seasonal pursuits that match each Season of Destiny
    • Ensure everyone has a chance to show off their accomplishments

    What's in a Triumph Tier?

Starting with Shadowkeep, individual Triumphs can now have tiers. They grant a portion of its total Triumph score as you make progress toward the final Triumph. For example, consider the SEASON 8: POWER BONUS Triumph. It has three tiers. To earn the first tier, you need to gain 5 points of bonus Power from your Season 8 Artifact, the Gate Lord's Eye. Once you do, you'll get 10 points of Triumph score toward your account's total Triumph Score, and the next tier will be revealed to you.

As part of this release, we went through all the existing Triumphs in the game and added in tiers to Triumphs where they made sense.

A Title to Match the Season

This is probably too much homework, but the "An Evolving World" section of Luke's Director's Cut—Part III is essential reading. The CliffsNotes version as it pertains to titles? Okay, we'll try. Prior to Season of the Undying, each piece of the Annual Pass added parts of the game designed to live on forever. During Season 8, a new situation will unfold on the Moon. Over the course of the Season, the situation will be resolved and some of the related activities will go away as Season 9's conflict arrives.

This will also be true of the Title associated with Season 8. Both the Triumphs and Badge for the new title will ask players to be participate during the Season of the Undying. Once the conflict has been resolved players will no longer be able to earn the season's title, Undying.

New Light and Getting ALL the Score

New Light forced us to think about many of the existing Triumphs and evolve our philosophies around what Triumph Score represents. For example, when a New Light player joins the game, should they receive all the score for getting to level 50 without having to put in any effort? That doesn't feel like much of a Triumph. That said, shouldn't a new kinderguardian have a chance to have the magical moment where they hit max score? Also, our evolving world will lead to many Triumphs that will no longer be able to be earned. Yet, we've heard loud and clear that Triumphs without score aren't very compelling. The rules had to evolve.

    The decisions!

    • Pre-Shadowkeep Triumphs that no longer require effort can't be earned after Season 7.

      • These Triumphs have had their score reduced to 0.
      • The players who have earned them will still see them in their Triumphs.
    • Seasonal Triumphs will have a score value. If you miss Triumphs during Season of the Undying, you may not be able to max out your score for the year.

Even with an evolution to our Triumph philosophy, we don't think we're done making tweaks to the system. Not everything is as clean as we'd like it to be in order to support Destiny as an evolving world. We'll be listening closely for feedback as we consider how to best continue the evolution of Triumphs.

    Color Your Words

Accessibility is something we're always trying to improve in Destiny. We have some new changes coming next week to make subtitles easier to read. The Destiny Dev Team is here to tell you more!

Destiny Dev Team: Have you ever found yourself wishing the subtitles were bigger, or liked having them on but thought they took up too much space, or wanted them to be a different color?

It has always been important for us that we make Destiny's UI accessible to the widest range of possible players as we can. Later this month, we'll be releasing an update that adds more options to let you change the look of subtitles in Destiny. Five different sizes to pick from, a variety of text colors, and a few different styles for the background.

    Video Link

These new subtitle settings are found in the settings tab under "Gameplay" on PC and "Accessibility" on consoles, and they're present in new users' initial log-in experience. We've also taken this opportunity to consolidate some PC settings into five subsections.

This is just one focused update on increasing accessibility options in Destiny, with plans for additional updates in later releases. (A small example that didn't quite make this next release is a fix for subtitles disappearing when navigating between menus). We'd love to hear your feedback on these changes, as well as what other accessibility improvements are important to you.

    Ready for the Runway

Last week, we put out the call for all fashion-focused Guardians to put on their best threads for Fashion Week. We have an esteemed panel of judges who have been searching through the submissions to settle on a few favorites to honor as the first Fashion Week winners. Here are picks for each class!

    Forges and Festivals

Player Support has everything you need to know for next week's update.

    This is their report.

    Destiny 2 Update 2.6.1

Next Tuesday, Destiny 2 Update 2.6.1 is scheduled to go live. This update will introduce a broad variety of changes to the player experience, and resolves a number of known issues that have emerged since the launch of Shadowkeep. Here are some highlights:

    • Resolved an issue that prevented some veteran players from unlocking Black Armory forges and completing the Mysterious Box quest for Izanagi's Burden.
    • Resolved an issue that prevented players from abandoning the Mysterious Box quest for Izanagi's Burden on alt characters—it will be retrievable from Ada-1.
    • Resolved an issue where the Exodus Black destination quest could not be recovered if abandoned—it will be retrievable from Failsafe.
    • Resolved an issue which prevented some players from earning the "Silimar's Design" Triumph—this Triumph will unlock retroactively for eligible players.
    • Resolved an issue causing daily bounties from Eris Morn and the Lectern of Enchantment to rotate weekly.
    • Resolved an issue that increased load times for previewing gear while traveling between destinations.

Additionally, we'd like to remind players that we've resolved an issue causing crashes in the Gofannon Forge in Hotfix 2.6.0.4. Players who previously encountered issues engaging with Black Armory content are highly encouraged to try again once Update 2.6.1 becomes available next Tuesday.

As with all updates and hotfixes, players should follow @BungieHelp on Twitter or monitor our support feed on help.bungie.net for the latest details as soon as they are available.

    Festival of the Lost

Also next Tuesday, Festival of the Lost returns to Destiny 2. In case you missed it in our blog earlier this week, we encourage all players to take a look at our official Festival of the Lost Guide.

Before Eva Levante returns to adorn the Tower in ghoulish decor, we'd like to inform players of what they can do right now to prepare for the festival's return.

    • Brand-new players who go through the New Light experience must achieve at least 770 Power before Eva Levante will beckon them with her Festival of the Lost introductory quest. If these players are lower than 770 Power, they will not be able to interact with Eva Levante at all.
    • All veteran players, including those who were boosted to 750 Power at the launches of New Light and Shadowkeep, may head directly to Eva Levante once Festival is live to begin her quest.

While New Light players must achieve 770 Power before they can jump in, the Haunted Forest has a minimum recommended Power of 750—so all Guardians should be ready to jump right in.

Additionally, while we await the festival's return, we'd like to forewarn players about earning and deleting Candy and Chocolate Strange Coins. In order to earn these currencies, players must wear the Masquerader's Helmet, purchasable from Eva Levante for 100 Glimmer. If players defeat enemies and complete activities without this helmet equipped, they will not earn Candy or Chocolate Strange Coins.

Furthermore, players should be cautious when dismantling any items in their Consumables inventory. Any instance of dismantling Candy or Chocolate Strange Coins, intentional or otherwise, will delete the entire stack.

Players who encounter issues following the launches of Update 2.6.1 and Festival of the Lost should report them to the #Help forum.

    New Movies

Every week, we're on the lookout for community-created videos. We take our favorites and feature them here for all to see, and the winners receive a special emblem. In fact, starting this week, we have a new emblem for all future MOTW winners.

Looks good right? Here are the first to take it home:

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to next week. We stacked up a lot of new things to go live, and I'm having a hard time deciding what to do first!

It would be REALLY COOL if for April 1st or the week of April 1st, Shaxx commentated for Gambit and the Drifter commentated for the Crucible.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 01:11 PM PDT

April 1st is a Wednesday too, so I think it would be close enough to reset for people to understand it's an April fools joke.

P.S. : I know that it's hard to arrange things like this and it really isn't easy, so that's why this post doesn't start with the usual "Bungie, please" that everyone uses.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I feel like the community would probably even be satisfied by using pre-existing voice lines that sort of match up. Like if you get an army of one you hear Shaxx do the "YEEEEEEEEESS" voice line and instead of the "Show the enemy your light" voice line you use the similar voice line from the drifter. Shaxx has lines like "Work together and you might survive" and "No holding back! Your enemies won't!"

I’m still fairly annoyed that the 2.0 Solstice armor has intentionally poor stats on it.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 09:01 AM PDT

I wouldn't mind it if there were a way to get random 2.0 rolls on it. The sets should be added to a loot pool if you've already collected them.

It really is a slap in the face how much time players invested right before Shadowkeep only to have the gear be poor in comparison.

I get they want us to grind the new gear, but at least respect our time for those of us who want to wear what we took so much time to earn.

EDIT: Or bare minimum, the solstice sets should've been unlocked as universal ornaments like the Eververse gear. Of course they probably didn't do this though since they want you to buy more ornamented gear sets rather than been content with the flashy solstice look.

Opinion: Ghosts should function in the same vain as the seasonal artifact in that they level up as we gain exp, allowing us to unlock and slot perks and allowing shells to be purely cosmetic.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 08:10 AM PDT

Title. Honestly just want the freedom to use whatever shell I want without the handicap of losing guiding light as a perk. I didn't mind so much pre-Shadowkeep, but now that we have the time limited season pass and the artifact, I feel like it's time to separate these perks from the shells themselves and allow players the freedom to express their taste in ghost cosmetics. This, to me, feels like this is a solution that would make everyone happy.

That's a whopping 18 items that I'm forced to either discard or hold on my person. Now consider that this season alone introduced 7+ consumables. We only have 50 slots and it's becoming a real issue that we have nowhere to put these items except hold them in our inventory.

Bungie, please let us put at least some of these items in the vault.

1 Best of Year 2 Engram for Every 5 Levels On The Season Pass (after 100) Just Doesn't Feel Rewarding At All

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 08:38 AM PDT

500,000 points and you only get the 1 reward and TBH the people who are past 100 will be those who've played the game a lot and have probably got all that engram is going to offer!

Post 100 just feels unrewarding. You get the level take over your screen every 100,000 points but nothing goes with it and then every 5th you got yourself a few legendary shards.

I'd love to see things like the masterworking materials in there, perhaps some planetary materials every level then the masterworking materials every 5 to go with the engram. They could even throw in a random rolled Pluper and the Temporal Clause in there too which will also help with the very low drop rate of those too.

At least previously I felt i'd get something decent out of every level reward via the bright engrams, whether it was bright dust/ticket or the current seasons Eververse items. Every 5 levels now is just an anti climax of absolutely nothing.

I imagine there's already been similar topics so apologies if its 'just another moaning thread' on this so i'm just having a little vent about it and see others thoughts.

We need a dual wield ( akimbo ) exotic.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 05:46 PM PDT

Whether its 2 hand cannons you can't hardscope with, 2 semi auto side arms, 2 short swords or 2 SMGs.

You're sitting on an easy gold mine of an exotic questline bungie. This would be awesome. You could even have it that a holster you slam the weapon into for reloading is at our sides so we can hold them both at the same time without putting one down to reload.

Or, you throw the weapons when reloading em and 2 new ones appear in your hands reloaded. ( cough. Cough. Saladin-err i mean reaper. )

Now that forges don't give powerfuls can we just use modulus reports.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 05:38 AM PDT

I am currently farming for go rolls from the forge and it doesn't feel good having to complete 2 forge runs before i can even start my grind each week. Not a major issue just a quality of life change.

980 nightmare hunt is going well so far

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 08:58 AM PDT

Please Bring the following weapons up to Y3: Nightfall specific (Silicon Neuroma, DFA, Duty Bound, Osprey), Mercury Forge Weapons, Ikelos Weapons, Braytech Weapons, and the following old favourites long forgotten: Scathelocke, Hawthorne’s Shotgun and Old Fasioned.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 09:56 AM PDT

Leviathan weapons would be cool too, but I don't want to ask for too much!

(Tbh I'd be happy with just Duty Bound, DFA and Neuroma)

Bungie, please fix the centre crit spots on Vex when using bows

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 01:05 PM PDT

For months now the crit spot on Vex units like the Goblins and Hobgoblins have been near non-existant/basically broken when using bows, even with constant perfect draw via Oathkeepers.

I first noticed this problem at the start of season of the drifter.

They behave as if they are 100 percent smaller than they actually are, to the point where and ADS point blank bow shot to their chest, directly in their crit spot, will give you nothing but white numbers.

From what I've seen on this sub I am not the only one experiencing this problem, it is absolutely whack.

    Please un-whack

While I appreciate Ordeal NF, it's 2 years old content that we have already farmed ad nauseam. Can we get Enhancement Prism/Ascendant shards to drop from other pinnacle activities?

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 03:59 AM PDT

I like the current game format, farming a couple of specific activities for a given season and be mostly done with it. I also like how Bungie introduced endgame gear with masterwork armors.

But at the same time, we have Nightmare hunts, raid and vex invasion (not sure if 980 will be available for that) which are supposedly the current endgame activities, yet do not reward the real endgame stuff. Right now the ONLY pinnacle activity that is really worth grinding by people who have stuck with D2 since release is effectively the oldest content in the game. And how many times have we grinded those already: Y1 for specific weapons, then for catalysts, then for Vanguard pinnacles, then again for some more catalyst and then for crafting mats, rinse repeat. And here we go for another merry round of running the exact same thing, when so much new content is available.

I get that there are people who want NF to be challenging and worth doing, but man I am so sick of running those. Can new content such as the raid and seasonal activities at 980 please be worth doing and actually reward some of that endgame currency?

Arms Dealer strike for the bow. The new lost sectors. I hope some of these encounter design changes stick for the future.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 06:55 AM PDT

Applies to both -- they put in barriers that make you actually do the mission and kill stuff instead of speed through. I like that. Speed running through, while efficient and sometimes would be something i'd do, in the end i find less than fulfilling.

Arms dealer boss fight - While it made it more stressful, i really like how they made it that you cannot stand still or hide behind cover very long using a mechanism other than a lot of adds. I hope they can adapt things like this to other fights.

    Also that bow kicks ass.

Why are getting the ‘postmaster full’ notification when we go to the tower instead of when it actually gets full?

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 08:01 AM PDT

I Just find it really stupid. And I honestly don't see any reason why that's the case. Back in D1 we got the notification when it got full while we weren't in the tower.

Pro Tip: You can set the steam browser homepage to DIM

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 12:59 PM PDT

Havent seen alot of people doing this, but within the steam app, you can set the steam browser homepage to DIM, so you can access it as easily as pressing Shift+Tab, while in game.

Edit: Thanks to u/BuckNastysMamma "To do this open Steam, on the top left click "Steam" and then click Settings. In the settings menu click on "Web Browser" and from there you can change the homepage."

As a community, we’re without a doubt completely fine with Leviathan’s Breath’s quest being so short instead of grindy and PvP reliant like other Exotic quests.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 08:52 PM PDT

Not only for the obvious reason of just being easy, but Levi's Breath is also a Season 8-limited exotic, so the shortness of the quest severely reduces the likelihood of anyone missing their chance at this weapon by the time the season's over.

I’ve enjoyed using Leviathan’s Breath, but it lacks one thing I never thought a Destiny weapon would lack: a satisfying sound.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 09:59 AM PDT

Has anybody else noticed this? When I fire that thing, especially after drawing the chain for like 45 minutes, I want to hear a big 'ol KERCHUNK that's consistent with the energy I've built up. Instead you get a mildly heavy thwip, and it just doesn't do it for me. Destiny weapons have always felt and sounded really good, and I'm surprised that this one is just so underwhelming.

46 days until the end of the season. Working on Randy's? Set a goal of 10 kills a day.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 07:37 PM PDT

For those that don't want to grind this all out in a sitting, take your time. You'll get there. 450 scout kills isn't impossible. Make smaller goals and it will become easy with much less stress.

10 kills a day for 45 days is 450 kills. Maybe you did 30 kills one day. Now you're two days closer than before. Find a way to make it work for you.

Do the same thing with the medals. Try to get a few percent a day. You need about 2.5% a day to make it.

Escalation Protocol armour needs to be looked at

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 05:28 AM PDT

Only being able to get a single piece of escalation protocol PER WEEK is absolutely unaccaeptable with armour 2.0, which is practically the only armour set in the game this applies to. it was fine back when armour only had one possible roll, but now that we have proper random stat rolls, this one-per-week system makes it almost impossible to farm for a decent roll on any of the armour; even if you get the piece you want in 2.0, you know its probably going to have weak rolls, and it is definitely not going to have a god-roll since EP is not a "pinnacle" activity.

I believe that after you have unlocked all 5 pieces of the armour, you should be able to farm for the armour with a chance of it dropping after defeating the wave 7 boss.

I'm not going to hide the fact that the EP armour is by far my favourite armour in the game, and ive been secretly waiting for it to get updated since literally the launch of Forsaken (its criminal to me that we got to use the EP armour for all of ONE SEASON before it became obselete and unusable), and now that it has been, its terribly disappointing that its STILL almost impossible to get a viable set of it.

Now, someone please tell me that im an idiot and that there actually is an easy way to farm for the armour now that i missed.

I think you should be able to take a weapon out of your collections with a roll you have already had

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 06:25 AM PDT

Imagine being able to take a weapon out of your collections with a roll you have already had. Before you start grinding for a specific roll you could have a look in your collections where it shows you every roll you have had on a certain weapon.

I am going to use this as an example as it is fresh in my mind. Recently, I have been grinding for a god roll Adhorative (Feeding Frenzy & Multikill Clip). I played the Vex Offensive before I started grinding for that specific roll and I may have got that roll beforehand. With this system you would be able to double check what rolls you have previously had which could save you a lot of time.

Another example would be if you accidentally dismantle a god roll weapon you would be able to go to the collections and because you have already had the god roll you can take it out. My friend argues that the "lock" feature is there to stop you from doing that but there is always a possibility you can dismantle it before you lock it.

Having this feature would also save a lot of space in the vault. I know that people (myself included) "save weapons in the vault just in case" which eventually builds up and takes up a lot of room.

I understand that it may take the fun out of grinding for that specific roll because you don't have to think about it as much – but other than that I am trying to figure out why this would be a bad idea.

If anyone has anything to add to this or any comments, I'd love to hear them.

Raid loot needs to be farm able as non powerful after the first clear.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 12:05 PM PDT

As title stats,. You should be able to rerun the raid as many times as you want in a week and be rewarded with loot as non powerful drops.

In the current system, Raids feel like a very one off thing. This causes a lack of engagement with the content which results in less players to help teach or carry new players in the raid environment. As it stands I want a good rolled raid set. But farming for the chance at a couple Armour pieces a week with the right affinity and the right rolls is pointless. I've already given up.

Make this change and you'll find a drastic change in the raid environment. People will be better at the Raids and thus more likely to bring along or be accepting of new players if it's not there 1st clear for loot that they just want to get over and done with. Also less likely to help friends etc if they know they aren't going to get any loot for additional runs.

If you don't think having a standard rerun reward loot is good enough perhaps you could have a day1 contest mode. Where hardcore players could farm non powerful raid rewards in a difficult environment.

If you guys have any suggestions leave them below!
