    In a universe where darkness appears around every corner and death usually follows, it's important to gain courage by looking fear in the face. Candy helps, too.

    After taking a year off, Eva Levante has returned as the herald of the Festival of the Lost. This holiday is a time for Guardians to don irreverent masks and celebrate the memories of those that are lost.

    As a growing threat looms ever-present, return to the Tower, grab some candy, and remind yourself what you're fighting for.

    Dark The Halls

    With Eva's return comes a renewed dedication to decorations. Candles, lights, cobwebs, and pumpkins adorn every nook and cranny of the Tower to ensure spirits will be raised.

    Speak with Eva to begin your journey and acquire a Masquerader Helmet to participate. Earn Chocolate Strange Coins from bounties and activities to purchase Festival of the Lost mask ornaments for your new helmet. All Destiny 2 players can partake in the festivities, including New Light players who need to be 770 Power to begin.

    Back by popular demand, Candy makes its sweet return as a reward to be spent towards Mystery Grab Bags and the Braytech Werewolf Legendary Auto Rifle. After acquiring the fully Masterworked 950 Power weapon, create your own monster with random rolls.

    Forest Through The Trees

    While the festival is underway, Guardians are needed to return once more to the Haunted Forest and defeat the fiends, ghouls, and terrors that lie within. You'll have 15 minutes to make it as far as you can go, but beware of what awaits you at the end.

    How Armor 2.0 Stats Are Generated

    Some Intro, who cares lets get to the numbers!

    Note: This is just my best guess at how I think it works so far and isn't set in stone. Take this with a grain of salt. If you have data that goes against anything listed please let me know!


    Base Stats

    Individual Stat

    Looking through the games API we can find a property attached to items called StatGroup. This holds all 6 stats and offers some information at how high a stat can roll. Each stat has a maximum value of 42. This is the highest a stat can be.

    On blue items you will see stats go up to 42 but that is because they can't be Masterworked or Modded. They are also usually missing a lot of stats elsewhere. On Legendary items it works a little bit differently.

    If we subtract the 2 stats you get from Masterworking and a possible 10 from Mods (more detail about both below) we get that a stats highest base roll is 30. We can see an example of this HERE.

    Stats have a minimum value of 0 but this is reserved from Armor 1.0 items and for Armor that you pull from your collections. Armor drops from the game world have a minimum stat value of 2.

    Clusters

    Armor stats seem to be rolled in what I've been calling "clusters". Mobility/Resilience/Recovery are the Destiny 2 Cluster while Discipline/Intellect/Strength are the Destiny 1 Cluster.

    When an item is generated, it's total value is rolled first and then split between the two clusters. It's not always a 50/50 split (more on that below) but it's pretty close. For example: If an item rolls with 60 Total stats then the Destiny 2 Cluster (Mobility/Resilience/Recovery) gets 30 of those stat points while the Destiny 1 Cluster (Discipline/Intellect/Strength) get the remaining 30 points. You can see a good example of that HERE.

    An important thing to note: The higher one stat goes, the lower the other two stats fall. We can assume that a "perfect" Cluster is a stat breakdown of 30/2/2, and we can see that in the first screenshot linked again HERE. The Destiny 1 Cluster of this item is a "perfect" Intellect roll.

    God Roll

    It stands to reason that a "God Roll" item would have a stat breakdown of 30/2/2/30/2/2 or 68 Total. The game would have put all of the points for a Cluster it could into just 1 of the stats, TWICE. As a downside, this would also mean that you can't have an item that has 30 Mobility AND 30 Resilience.

    Since this would be SUPER hard to achieve, a "Perfect Roll" would just be an item that has the maximum stats at 68 Total. I believe this to be the highest base roll you could achieve.

    Pinnacle / Exotic Bonus

    Pinnacle and Exotic drops are where you can make up extra ground in your stats. They seem to have a higher floor for their stat generation, meaning they should usually roll with better stats than items you find elsewhere in the game. Also, after these items get their stats, one of the two Clusters also gets a bonus to it's stat rolls. From the looks of it the bonus is an extra 0-10 spread across the three stats of a Cluster.

    You can see that HERE, HERE, and HERE. This bonus helps Pinnacle and Exotic items push closer to 68 or even surpass it, making them very sought after item drops. A high roll and a high bonus could push an item to 70 or maybe even beyond. We won't know an actual cap until someone gets this monster to drop. I assume it to be 78 just based on the data I've seen so far (68 base + 10 bonus).

    I think this step also happens on regular items as well (which is why you can find items that aren't a 50/50 split) but I think this bonus rolls lower for normal items and higher for Pinnacle and Exotics.

    You can figure out an items Bonus Stat by adding the two Clusters up and subtracting them from each other. The remaining value is your bonus. Going back to THIS IMAGE we can see that the Destiny 2 Cluster is 27 points, the Destiny 1 Cluster is 34. That means that this item has a bonus 7 points in the Destiny 1 Cluster. The bonus is high because it's a Pinnacle raid item.


    Above and Beyond

    Masterwork

    Masterworking an item gives it +2 in all six stats raising it's base stat Total by 12. This allows us to not only surpass the maximum of 68 on an item, but also get an extra 12 stats from our Class Item, as it still has stats. Something we can leverage!

    Mods

    There are mods for each of the six stats. Each mod raises that stat by a full 10 points. We can put on 50 of these mods effectively raiding our total stats 50 points! There are some downsides to this:

    First, we lose out on a mod slot that could be going to another mod. Second, some of these mods cost more than others. Intellect takes 5 Energy and Recovery takes 4. That's valuable energy you could be using for other mods.

    This also means that Intellect and Recovery are the two more important stats to have on your armor piece as they are the harder ones to make up.


    Theory Crafting

    Max Stats

    With all of this in mind we can calculate what would be the maximum possible stats you can have on a character. We take the highest roll for an armor item (78) and add to it the amount of stats for Masterworking (12) and the stats for having one Mod attached (10) to get 100. This is the highest value each armor item can give. If we multiple that by 4 and add our Class Item (12 for Masterwork + 10 for Mod) we get 422 Total Stats. This appears to be the highest you can go with PERFECT rolls on every item. It is very unlikely anyone will hit this value.

    Affinity

    The Affinity that an Armor item can roll appears to be a random three way split between Arc, Solar, and Void. These don't matter all that much UNLESS you want to use mods for weapons that fit into a certain Affinity. For the sake of completion, here is a table of all the weapon Affinities.

    Formula Steps

    • Generate Total Stats (between FLOOR-68), where FLOOR changes based on the Activity/Loot Type.
    • Generate a cluster of stats, taking half of the Total insuring all stats have at least 2 and are no more than 30.
    • Generate a cluster of stats, using the remaining Total using the same rules as above.
    • Add a bonus of 0-10 to on of the clusters at random.

    Closing

    Seasonal Pass Bonus Loot BUG = No Loot!

    Several seasonal pass bonuses grant extra loot at the end of an activity, like strike armor, gambit armor, Temporal Clause, Pluperfect etc.

    The problem here is that they don't drop from engrams so they DO NOT GO TO YOUR MAILBOX.

    I had the strike chest pop open and fill my kinetic slot with blues then no room for Pluperfect. Figured no big deal, like all full inventories the loot will go to the mail - but it did not. There was no official drop in the world for this to prompt to go to the mail since they go directly into your inventory

    The same will happen if your armor slots are full for the seasonal bonus armor, or heavy is full and a Temporal Clause which is mega rare already to drop procs then you fail to receive it, they will be permanently lost. I usually keep 2-3 slots open for drops but you can't really control what random loot you get at the end of a strike/gambit/crucible game goes into your inventory then for the seasonal bonus to proc. These not dropping from engrams is the same reason why it goes into your inventory at a base 750 level rather than your current level less 0-3 power

    I bet you the LMG and Auto are less "rare" than people think because they've had full inventories and havent noticed it drop at the end of a game to get auto deleted

    EDIT - WARNING: this also happens with Divinity. Forgot I was almost screwed out of this when my energy slot was full, looted the Divinity chest and said no room with an X over the icon. Just to make sure I scrapped an item then was able to re-loot the chest to get Divinity, otherwise I would have lost it from not going to the mailbox

    I feel like no mod slots on exotic weapons isn't that great

    So many exotics are already really average, and no mod slots makes it feel like there is 0 reason to use exotics. Just an icarus grip or something could make an exotic like chaperone way funner, but not break the game. Anyone else think this, or what?

    The repeating price increase for artifact resets should be removed

    I understand that Bungie wants to keep the artifact system dynamic and impactful by making it cost more and more to reset the artifact, but I think the price increase should be removed. Over the past few weeks, people have been experimenting with many of the mod combinations that can be created through the artifact such as the void grenade build or the arc melee build. However, the primary setback of doing these builds is that in order to make them effective, you are practically locked to using one subclass. The main reason this is a setback is due to the repeating price increase which makes it difficult to want to switch over to a different subclass. By switching subclasses, you are losing a lot of the utility that came with the mods you chose from the artifact. In most of the late-game content, these mods are extremely useful and are almost necessary for many activities. By removing the repeating price increase, it would allow players to be more flexible and experimental with builds that can be created through the artifact. I am open to more discussions involving this in the comments!

    I bought the Jotuneer.

    It is massive and beautiful and everything I hoped it would be. Except for one major flaw...

    It sounds like a standard sparrow!

    Not that Master Nightmare hunts are worth doing (unfortunately), but if you wanted to run this nightfall, having hunters using this setup is extremely useful. The entire boss room is dangerous so the only good response to it is to be invisible a lot of the time.

    Kind of a long video for what mostly felt like some scary ring around the rosie, but it's pretty crazy how tiny the room for carelessness was. I got killed quite a few times from just the tiniest wrong peek.

    Anyway, hope you enjoy Crota taking a beating once again.

    Is normal conversation with Bungie's support even possible? Can't get my in-game purchase for about two weeks.

    I really don't know what to do now and hope that I could at least find some attention for me and more players with the same problem (and I know that they're out there somewhere).

    A little background: at the 10th of October I've purchased a 6000 silver bundle using money on my steam wallet. In a couple of hours they got written-off my in-game account. I tried to contact Bungie's support (using "lost silver" form) and got two template answers like "You have negative silver balance because you've refunded that purchase". The trouble is that you cant get a refund for an in-game purchase made with your steam wallet balance. Steam's support says that all transactions on their side are successfully completed and I need to argue with Bungie.net support by myself. And now all tickets that I made are just hanging there without any clear response. I made my situation as clear as possible in those tickets, packing it up with screenshots of my conversation with steam support and screenshots of completed transactions.

    I've tried creating a post on bungie.net forum, tried to contact community managers on twitter and so on. If anyone knows what else I could do, I could really appreciate some help and guidance. Because frankly this situation is getting sadder and sadder with every day.

    Title. Not sure if this suggestion has been made on this sub yet.

    In the new world of Armor 2.0 which has delightfully brought us the opportunity to craft builds for our "Monster Killing Machines", it would be dope if he could do this.

    I'm all for the grind, but there should be more than one way to do so. Why not allow me to use materials to recraft my armor to match my subclass.

    Maybe require some kind of elemental item (orb?) You would receive from sharding items of that element. Rares, Legendaries, and Exotics could drop 1, 2, and 3 of said item respectively.

    Maybe even throw in affinity-based mods at some point, or some kind of "affinity" bonus for armor and sublclass?

    The Nightstalker in me needs all purple everything. You know, for swag.

    Leviathan's Breath could have been a crossbow, not a bow. It's heavy, and fire arrows.

    Crossbows already are in the game: Scorn has crossbows; Hive has crossbows; Guardians don't have crossbows. A heavy combat bow like Leviathan's Breath would have been more cool if was a crossbow.

    Comparing these 2 armour pieces honestly makes me think the costume designers actually don’t like warlocks.

    The Empyrean Cartographer gauntlets for the Warlock and the Titan.

    The amount of effort put into the Titan gauntlets is absurd compared to the Warlock gauntlets, in all of their blandness.

    This is why Warlock fashion is practically dead. Other armour sets like Thorium Holt, Dreambane (Helmet literally looks like a pastry) and even the Phenotype plasticity, which is half draped in an ugly dark green, whereas the Hunter's and Titans get their whole body to shine, are also ugly.

    Please, on behalf of all warlocks, can we get... an actual cool armour set. Something unique, something we've never seen before. Thank you

    The triumph for completing a master level nightmare hunt flawlessly is based on individual performance, not team.

    Not sure if this is known already or not since most flawless triumphs are lost when anyone on the fireteam dies. Found this out last night after I got killed 30 seconds before we killed the ogre and my two friends in the fireteam both got the triumph still, but I did not. We ran it back again right after and they went ahead and killed everything while I lurked safely in the background. Even though they both died a few times, I still got the triumph for not dying.

    You can kill the ogre this week pretty easily if you just sit up on the ledge on the right side of the room as soon as you enter. You are safe from the ogre attacks if you hug the wall or stand behind the pillar. All the enemies just jump up to you and kind of stand still and don't really push making them easy to kill. Used two wells, divinity, and two izanagis to get through the entire thing pretty easily.
