FINISHING A SCREEB MAKES IT STAND ON TWO LEGS AND STARE DIRECTLY AT YOU

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 08:43 PM PDT

I REPEAT, STANDING SCREEB IS NOT A JOKE.

I do not know what to do with this information but it is ridiculously unnerving for it to jump up on two legs and just stare at me while I swing a fist into its face.

Though I highly recommend everyone do it once.

3 energy cost for the traction mod seems high for those of us that just want to turn faster.

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 03:48 PM PDT

I guess it's higher because it also boosts mobility, but heck I'd rather have them just nix the mobility boost while preserving the tighter turn radius and just cost 1 energy.

I mean, most of us on console just wish it was a controller option and not a mod at all, but why you gotta add insult to injury and make it a high cost mod? Maybe we should just be thankful it's not an affinity mod. Thoughts?

Armor 2.0 doesn't hold up to the play the way you want to style of Shadowkeep.

Our Traveler Awful Mod Affinity List

Created by the one and only u/ILikeMeatloaf

Sweet baby Speaker, what is that? What the hell is that?

I remember hearing about Armor 2.0 and thinking I would be able to forge my own god roll armor. Little did I know, that was not going to be the case. Anyhow, let's get into it.

    Bungie's Explanation (Part 1)

"1. Give players the freedom to experiment with builds, while also requiring players to make creative choices when putting together those builds. The biggest reason why mods became unlocks instead of consumables is to encourage players to experiment with perk combinations. The energy type and cost of a mod asks players to consider which mods they value most for a particular build, sometimes requiring them to make choices or come up with creative combinations of armor energies across all five equipped armor pieces."

It's a good idea, but it falls too short of its intended goal.

I like the idea, but it just feels wrong and like we're being punished for having a loadout other than what the developers were expecting. For example, if I run an auto rifle, shotgun and grenade launcher I have to creatively think about how to make my armor mods not suck because my armor mods won't mesh well due to mod affinities. And that right there is S-tier B.S. Why on the Traveler's green Earth should we be punished for not running their "curated" loadouts as in what weapons each subclass plays "well" with.

    "Curated loadouts":

    • Solar
      • Auto, SMG, Fusion, Linear Fusion, Rocket
    • Arc
      • Pulse, Bow, Sword, Machine Gun, Shotgun
      • Found the leftover guns from the dart throwing contest.
    • Void
      • Sidearm, Scout, Handcannon, Sniper, Grenade Launcher

If you don't have loadouts with all guns in a shared respective affinity you just sacrificed optimization because your loadout isn't unique or creative enough. With myself being a fan of a Handcannon, Fusion Rifle, Machine Gun loadout, this honestly hurts because my armor set has to be geared more towards one of the weapon types rather than balanced across the board meanwhile my buddy running Grenade Launcher, Handcannon, Grenade Launcher has a wet dream of a god roll armor set simply because he likes a different playstyle that uses all of one affinity. Personally, I feel limited when it comes to my niche playstyle. If this was the intended goal its damn near depressing that my playstyle can't have its own god roll armor set.

    Bungie's Explanation (Part 2)

"2. Give players the ability to balance mods above and beyond pure effectiveness. When mods have no restrictions on their use (as was the case prior to Armor 2.0), each mod is only evaluated on its strength and usefulness (or access, in the case of consumables). Giving mods an energy cost gives us a knob to turn that gives weaker mods value and stronger mods a drawback. Giving mods an energy type allows us to limit the scope of combinations within a single armor piece (making their use cases easier to predict and balance for), and also gives us room for other perks and mods (for example, artifact mods) that break these restrictions. This means the perks and mods that break the rules can be compelling choices, without them having to also be significantly stronger to be appealing."

What was that part about player freedom and creativity?

Once again, why are we being punished for trying something new and why is Bungie trying to steer the us players into their preferred playstyle? This is where I feel like drawing a line. When players have to conform to Bungie's Best Picks™ loadouts to optimize their loadout effectively we have an issue. It honestly feels like a giant F**K YOU for simply wanting to run an out of the ordinary loadout. Niche guns and playstyles are already not the greatest but pushing them further down the hole of futility is just silly and uncalled for. My question to the team:

Why? Why is it necessary to punish players for using loadouts that you don't advocate for? Why steer the meta this way and hurt uncommon, unique loadouts even more. Why hurt the guy who is rocking Skyburner's Oath, Hawthorne's Field Forged, and Zenobia-D? Just because DRB, NF and Wardcliff exist doesn't mean everyone else should suffer. Why not bring those weapons back in line?

    Bungie's Explanation (Part 3)

"3. Relieve information overload pressure on the mod UI. Early playtests, which did not have the energy system, had all mods for a particular slot visible each time you moved your cursor over them. This resulted in a huge amount of information overload, and also made it hard to quickly find, and change out, mods that you were seeking. Cutting down on the number of mods visible for a particular armor piece makes it easier to process this information.

There's a lot more to it than that, but those are the most notable points.

When it comes to deciding which weapons were associated with which affinity, there were three main criteria used to choose where to put them:

Ammo Type: Each energy type needed to have a good mix of primary, special, and power ammo weapons.

Range: Each energy type needed to have a good mix of short, middle, and long-range weapons.

Thematics: Each energy type should have weapons that are similar thematically, when possible, and feel like the kinds of weapons that match other mechanics associated with that energy type."

Alright, alright, alright. I can see this point.

As far as these goals go, I can understand it. Given the weird system currently in place this at least is better than what it could have been.

I can also understand sensory overload, but maybe that points to a deeper issue with our current mod/shader/ornament system.

That's about all I got here, but my buddy had an excellent take on the weapon themes:

"Especially if I'm a vet explaining to a new light about the new armor, how do you make it make sense? These weapons are lumped in with this set of weapons under this affinity because they made some employee at bungie think that they were red, or purple, or blue."

Maybe it's an oversimplification, maybe it's not. But I can't help but admit that the system sounds weird when you realize weapons were arbitrarily chosen to be in certain categories because they match a theme of all things.

    /startminirant

It honestly pisses me off that the difference between once set of guns and another set of guns is a deciding factor in what perks you can use to your advantage. Oops, I can't run two reserves mods because I like using an auto rifle and a shotgun, but if I use a fusion rifle instead, I can achieve a god roll piece of armor. Why is this a thing? Why do I get punished for having some damn variety?

    /endminirant

    Bungie's Explanation (Part 4)

"We have seen feedback suggesting that, instead of locking mods into an energy type, the affinity should simply be a discount on the energy cost of the mod. That's actually what the broad-category mods (such as Rifle Loader, Precision Weapon Targeting, etc.) are meant to represent: a higher cost for gaining the benefit with a weapon not normally associated with that energy type. So, instead of having to display every mod for that slot when you move your cursor over the socket, you see only the two to three broad-category mods in that socket, plus the ones with energy types associated with it.

Of course, not every mod type got a broad-category version, notably the mod types that affect the ammo economy. That's because any mods that tinker with the ammo economy have a lot of caveats and exceptions, mostly due to weapons that use ammo types not normally associated with that weapon archetype, such as Eriana's Vow, the Mountaintop, Whisper of the Worm, and so forth.

We needed a bit more time to build the broad category versions of these mods and test them thoroughly, but at the start of next season there will be broad-category mods for both the ammo finder and ammo scavenger categories, and they will be automatically unlocked for all players (no need to hunt them down!). This should help round out your builds more easily, and give you more options for tinkering with your ammo no matter what armor energy type you use. We're also working on some broad category ammo capacity mods, but those need some more work before they're ready for primetime."

This is a step in the right direction but…

Better can be done. Broad ammo finders sounds good, but why are other weapon perks still affected by affinities. Are they really that overpowered? Probably not, but Bungie seems to think they need balancing because how dare I put unflinching scout rifle aim with unflinching auto rifle aim.

Other than that I get the need to test and make sure the ammo economy stays in whatever form it is in. Sometimes it feels like special and heavy ammo is harder to find than Fenchurch. But that is a topic for another day.

    Bungie's Explanation (Part 5)

"Another big change coming up is the loosening of stacking restrictions on Armor 2.0 mods. Starting next season, the restrictions on having multiple mods of the same type in a single piece of armor will be removed (with a few exceptions). So, you'll be able to run two Hand Cannon Loader mods, or two Shotgun Ammo Finder mods, and so forth. The only exceptions to this stacking come from mods that provide no benefit when stacked, such as Fastball and Traction. We needed a little more time to make sure that stacking mods wouldn't cause any major technical issues, and think that stacking mods of the same type gives more flexibility in crafting your build, provided you have the armor energy to spend in socketing them in.

One thing to be aware of with mod stacking: In most cases, stacking up identical mods will provide diminishing returns on their effectiveness. For example, two Hand Cannon Loader mods don't provide twice the benefit; instead, they provide about 1.5x the benefit of one Hand Cannon Loader mod. However, this puts them on equal footing with the enhanced mods. So, two Hand Cannon Loader mods provide the equivalent benefit of a single Enhanced Hand Cannon Loader. We're also going to be lowering the energy costs of some of the armor mods to better reflect the value of an enhanced mod.

One last bit of news on Armor 2.0. When we created the system, we wanted to include armor mods in Collections, so you can see how many you have gathered, and where they can be acquired. This also presented a good opportunity to do some housekeeping on the Collections tab in general, but, unfortunately, proved to be a little more time-intensive than we'd hoped, so the changes didn't come alongside Shadowkeep. Good news, though! In the 2.6.1 patch, coming later this month, armor mods will be visible in your Collections, allowing you to browse through all the possibilities and see which ones you have already collected. Additionally, starting next season, the armor mod Collections will get a UI upgrade, allowing them to display armor energy type and cost on the icon, just like they do in your armor socket."

Sounds good, hopefully it actually works unlike last time.

Looking at you heavy ammo finder. Pepperidge Farm remembers when having two would make it reduce your chance of receiving heavy.

Alright, I shouldn't be too hard because this sounds promising and something that I and a lot of other people would like. I still think affinities for weapon related armor mods is the worst thing about Armor 2.0 and needs to be fixed.

    The Last Word

Affinities are a Thorn in my side.

The atrocity that is essentially affinities for guns is a bizarre (and cruel?) form of balance. It truly brings the question that if some loadouts are indeed that broken is it really the weapon types that need nerfed or is it the problematic weapons? I feel that Armor 2.0 hurts my playstyle of using unorthodox weapons and loadouts but at the same time allowing other people to create their dream armor.

And to put the cherry on top, mod affinities limits our mod choices and made the skill points on all of our Armor 1.5 near worthless (Remind anyone of the obsolete year 1 armor problem?), so the choice is between good rolls or our health bars and cooldowns. As a titan I need that health bar and melee cooldowns TO PUMMEL THE EVERLIVING DARKNESS OUT OF THE BLIGHT KNOWN AS THE HIVE. Ahem, sorry. But in all seriousness, I would like to have freedom over my perk choices rather than being shoved into specific loadouts for the sake of "balance". The overall message just doesn't ring true in my eyes because the current system puts down my playstyle while raising other people's styles up to the top. This goes against the whole play your way spirit that came with Shadowkeep. It is wrong that a playstyle can be limited through the use of locking away a core part of the game behind a silly affinity system.

Bungie, I love this game and have spent far too many hours in this game with good friends, but I can't help but feel frustrated. This isn't the end of the world but I feel the path Armor 2.0 is headed is the wrong one, so for the love of the game can we not screw up the armor system again.

    TL;DR

The mod affinity system punishes unique and different playstyles while under the guise of supporting unique playstyles. And it is unfair to lover's of niche guns and playstyles.

Edit: As is tradition (Cringey or not), I need to thank the two kind redditors who gifted me with gold. I appreciate a lot and I honestly don't know how to communicate my thanks to you.

Almost 40% of Iron Banner matches are ending with MERCY!

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 05:57 AM PDT

I don't know if this happens to everyone but for me about 40 - 50% of Iron Banner matches are being ended with mercy and most of matches are not fairly balanced! (I'm getting the "We're breaking up those teams to find a better match" message pretty often). Shouldn't "Similar Skill" matchmaking fix this issue?

Today I installed Destiny 2 and became a Monster Killing Machine!

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 01:45 PM PDT

OMG the game is absolutely incredibly awesome, I've only spent about an 70 minutes or so, in Destiny 2 but it's so much fun, done one or two missions, and killed lots of monsters, very addictive, the main reason I guess I didn't think to get it sooner was I didn't have the money to get it, but I heard through a fellow gamer at work, that it was now free to play and figured I had nothing to lose!

SO glad I have found this game and the community within it, I look forward to fighting by your side in the days to come my fellow Guardians!

Bungie THANKZ addition: you all have worked very hard this last year and the game is great. Thanks for the amazing work!

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 04:53 PM PDT

I understand you have all worked very hard recently (maybe too hard at times) and the game is better than any other time I have played it. Fascinating, compelling story. Snappy gun play. An immersive feeling of power while playing. Beautiful environments. The list goes on. (Guardians reading this, care to add your favorite parts?)

It's not perfect. Nothing is. But you all are doing great. Keep it up. I can't wait to see what you do next.

    Iron Banner Seal/Title

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 12:49 PM PDT

This is for everyone who loves Iron Banner, PVP in general and Triumph hunters.
I took some time off to make this and I'm super happy with the results, in some way I wish this was real and datamined but it's not. This is my first time making any type of Triumph related stuff, but I wanted it to look most legit as possible
    - So please take it with a grain of salt.

    Picture: Iron Banner Seal inspection

    Picture: Character screen

    Picture: Triumphs screen

    Picture: Collections screen

    Picture: Iron Banner Collections badge

    Picture: Iron Banner Seal

Feel free to use the pictures as you like, as long you don't take credit for them.
This is in no way a suggestion for Bungie to make something like this. I just wanted to create an illusion on how the seal and title would have looked from ingame perspective.

I tested out "Ironlord" and "Ironlady", but it didn't look right. Ironwolf was a better choice for this seal.
Let me know if the links are broken or any misspelling in the pictures, I'll try to fix it asap.

    Bug With Telesto

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 07:05 AM PDT

Primer: You need Ashes to Assets preferably enhanced.

Shoot a bunch of Telesto Bolts at the ground. Throw a grenade at them. Profit with Super energy.....in Crucible, Gamobit, or PvE......

Here is a video of the first person I saw talking about it:

    Edit: Bungie knows

    We NEED new Shaxx voicelines.

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 04:49 PM PDT

I need more new Shaxx yelling ecstatically in my life. You can throw the other vendors (Hawthorne) off the side of the tower for all I care, I just need more crucible yelling.

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 10:06 AM PDT

For those interested we got a 14:01 Garden, super close to the sub 14. This run is really good except for the first box, where we lost a couple seconds. GGs to the team of Granger, Drift, Vyzii, BjarturFO, Conquer and Acey (me). If you have any questions feel free to comment, and I'll do my best to answer.

With The (Re-)Release Of Shadowkeep, Monte Carlo, The Strength Stat and The Revamped Way Of The Pathfinder, I Thought It Would Be Nice To Share The Properties Of Invisibility

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 08:29 AM PDT

    Credit goes to /u/CANAS1AN.

    Here is the Video.

First and foremost: Your triangle in your Radar is COMPLETELY inaccurate. Do not use it for the purposes of understanding your Radar Status.

Here are the ways Invisibility interacts with your Radar and the Radar of any enemies around you.

    Regular Radar Behavior

    • This means you are standing up and not invisible. Your position is visible at all times to nearby enemies.

    Radar True Sight

    • Every Player has an imaginary 5m circle around them, at all times.

    • Any enemy Player that enters that circle, regardless of stance (crouching or standing), visibility (invis or not) or movement (stationary, walking or sprinting), will appear on the radar, with no exceptions.

    Crouched

    • You give off one quick (0.5s) ping to nearby enemies every 2 seconds.

    • Ps: Your own Radar Triangle pings every 1s, which is incorrect and misleading.

    Crouched + Invisible

    • You won't show up at all on the enemy's radar, whether you are stationary or walking.

    • If you are crouched when your invisibility ends, and you don't stand up, you may continue to move for 15 seconds without giving off any pings.

    • If, after uncloaking while crouched, you stand up again, you'll revert back to the Regular Radar Behavior. Crouching again after this will not bring back the complete suppression of pings (you will simply start pinging once every 2s, as is normal for the crouch stance.)

    Standing Up + Invisible

    • You won't show up at all on the enemy's radar, whether you are stationary or walking.

    • If you are standing up when you uncloak, you'll immediately revert back to the Regular Radar Behavior.

    • Crouching after uncloaking like this will simply initiate the regular crouch radar behavior (1x every 2s).

    Sprinting + Invisibility

    • The moment you start sprinting, you'll appear on the Radar of nearby enemies for 0.5s.

    • After this initial ping, you'll remain off the Radar while you continue sprinting.

    • If you stop and sprint again, you'll ping again.

    • Basically: Every time you start a sprint action, you'll ping on the Radar or nearby enemies for 0.5s.

    Jumping + Invisibility

    • Every time you use your first jump (AKA Your non-enhanced, regular jump), you remain hidden as usual. You will not ping on the Radar of nearby enemies.

    • Every time you use an instance of Double Jump, Triple Jump, Lift, Glide or Blink, you'll ping on the Radar of nearby Enemies for 0.5s.

    True Sight

    • Any enemies with True Sight will not detect you on their Radar, but will see your silhouette nonetheless.

    Disclaimer

    • I did not make this video.

    • I did not participate in its inception.

    • I just found it and posted it here.

Powerfuls should drop higher stat rolls

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 01:08 PM PDT

After hitting 950, there is zero incentive to do any of the powerful milestones, as they're neither going to increase your power or nessesarily roll any higher stats than a normal world drop. Or is this intentional, to have players at the end game no longer care about these activities and just farm ordeals and do the raid?

Let us pick one essence that rewards pinnacle gear from the Lectern of Enchantement each week.

    Title.

I feel like this would remove much of the RNG problem while still keeping it special and challenging (both of which I love).

P.S. This would also make the moon more relevant...

Hunter Empyrean Cartographer Armor is bugged on female characters

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 10:51 AM PDT

My partner and I noticed that the shoulder piece (right shoulder) on the Hunter Empyrean Cartographer armor set appears bugged on female characters. It doesn't properly fit to the character's arm and looks out of place when compared to its appearance on a male character.

Links to screenshots showing what I mean are below.

    Female Armor: https://www.imgur.com/gallery/TOZ2wVB

I tried searching for this topic via the search bar, but didn't find anything related to it. Thanks for your time.

Can I quickly just bring up the visuals

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 03:19 PM PDT

I feel like nobody brings this up, probably because it is far from a problem, but I'd just like to quickly comment on it. The visuals in this game are absolutely stunning. Literally everything blows my mind. The tipped over ships floating on Titan, the blinding sun on Mercury, the green light breaking through red foliage on Nessus. They really did an amazing job creating such breathtaking environments.

Why isn't there more rewards for completing triumphs? Ships, ornaments, sparrows, class marks? What a missed opportunity.

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 03:31 PM PDT

I just finished the Iron Banner armour quest on all three characters. It wasnt hard, but as I ticked off triumphs in the iron banner triumphs pages I couldn't help but wonder why there was no ships, sparrows, or ornaments for completing them.

This should be across the whole triumphs section. I know Bungie once again has a hard-on for Eververse crap, but more surprises could be tied to triumphs and it would be great.

Can we get a finisher where we headbutt the enemy into oblivion like Saint-14, please?

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 05:03 AM PDT

If you have 0 motes and you are being invaded then for the Travel sake PUSH INVADER NOT HIDE FROM HIM.

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 02:19 AM PDT

A lot of people are complaining about Truth, Hammerhead and other "I was made to ruin Gambit" weapons. But those people rarely actually try to kill Invader instead of hiding in obvious spot. Even if you die but still manage to kill Invader you will greatly help your team.

Why does a charge time masterwork on a fusion rifle reduce its impact? I thought masterworks were supposed to make a weapon better, not trade one Stat for another.

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 09:11 PM PDT

You can save your completed iron banner bounties and turn them in when you are 950. Completed bounties wont dissappear after the event is over.

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 04:38 AM PDT

If you turn in iron banner bounties before you reach 950 base power you will be wasting a 951 drop. Save your completed iron banner bounties until you reach 950.

However you should turn the bounties in before the next iron banner starts in any case so you can get the new bounties in that event.

This sga is best suited for people who will hit 950 for the first time after the current iron banner event is over.
