    Focused Feedback: Shadowkeep/Season 8 Eververse

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 05:32 AM PDT

    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'SK/S8 Eververse' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Here are some sample discussion questions for this Focused Feedback thread. Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

    • What are your thoughts on the current items being sold for silver and those being sold for bright dust?
    • How do you feel about certain items being only sold for Silver?
    • How do you feel about certain items being sold for silver for a certain amount of time, then sold for bright dust later?
    • How do you feel about current prices? Would you be more likely to buy stuff if it cost less silver?
    • What is your ideal ratio to micro-transaction exclusive cosmetics to cosmetics that can be earned though gameplay?
    • Are there any cosmetic items or other items currently being sold for silver that you feel should be excluded from micro transactions entirely?
    • What are your thoughts on this season's "nostalgic engrams"?

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Make it 500 glimmer to swap weapon mods, not 5000

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 06:44 AM PDT

I just want to be able to swap my weapon mods around, like on my recluse for example. I want to swap from Icarus grip to minor spec/anti barrier, depending on whether I'm in PvP or PvE

Edit: holy shit this blew up, thanks for all the likes! Edit 2: to all the people saying "how do people even run out of glimmer", a lot of us like to buy bounties, while switching mods and shaders.

As someone with limited play time through the week, this Iron Banner quest was so much better than last season

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 06:31 AM PDT

I always aim to get all the armor across my 3 characters every Iron Banner. Sometimes it can be a little stressful. But it was alot less stressful this time around than last season. And with it being less stressful I actually had more fun.

Well except for that one game I went up against a stack of OEM Titans using only fusions when I was just trying to get some SMG kills. But other than that the quest was a big improvement over last season.

Edit: These were last seasons steps in case you forgot or weren't around to play it.

Step 1. Defeat opponents. Easy enough.

Step 2. Capture zones. Oh yeah all those zones you captured in step 1 didn't count. You start at 0

Step 3. Super, melee, and grenade final blows. Probably the most complained about step and for good reason.

Step 4. Final blows with autos, fusions, scouts, snipers, and swords. Yep each one. In all fairness your teammates kills progress yours too but still.

Step 5. Complete matches. Doesn't sound bad. But say you won, lost, won, lost it would take 50 matches. You had to get on a streak to make progress. Now I know this step you could cheese, however that doesn't change the fact this was the actual requirement.

A lot of the D2 armor feels so generic, what happened to this sort of style?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 08:54 AM PDT

    https://i.imgur.com/BLc6RXi.png

I want this style back, but part of me knows it'll be stuck in the eververse or behind the season pass like the new vex gear. D1 armor you could see it and tell where it was from, most of the sets felt unique to the activity. I'm not saying everything needs to have some flamboyant effects, but everything looks so samey, something about the armor nowdays is soulless and silly looking, maybe because of the curved and aerodynamic look everything has, not really sure.

Titans are just so overly wide, mainly through the shoulders, and I can't really name a single class item for them that I can remember looking awesome, they're all just weird buttflaps.

Hunters have barely any long flowing capes, theyre all just torn at the waist, thankfully we've moved away from the toe shoe feet.

Warlocks with dull bonds, theres only a few with actual decent projections. The gloves only matter on your forearm (you can hardly tell when you wear some of the exotic ones) and boots are hardly even visible so the only 2 pieces that matter for customization are helmets and chest pieces, not to mention how slimming and feminine some of them are on male characters. Slim helmets with big rectangular windows, maybe im just salty but I feel like warlocks really have the worst of the armor selection, I don't even know what to make mine wear. And there's nothing that can be done about the glove situation in D2 because of how colossal of a task it would be to change.

I'm not asking for these sets to come back as reskins either, we already have plenty, I just want the original games armor style back (most likely for D3), the direction D2 has taken for this I'm not a fan of and I know I'm not alone. I'm not saying everything sucks either, it's just that the epic sets are so few and far between now, I know there were objectively bad looking sets in the first game, I just felt like there was a much larger selection of epic looking ones. Fuck it why not make some epic exotic class items, just make them earnable in-game without bright dust or silver purchases attached.

I'm not really sure what Bungie was thinking putting this guy so close to a bottomless pit of ultra-death...but here we are.

    It's pretty simple.

    1. Grab a Pike.

    2. Push his ass into the Hellmouth.

    3. Profit.

Just make sure to be quick or else he'll give you the old death-spank.

3D printed Outbreak Prime as a birthday present for my son.

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 05:55 AM PDT

I started 3D printing this summer. I previously posted the Dark Drinker I made for my son's friend for his birthday. This time I made Outbreak Prime for my son.

    https://imgur.com/a/ujHzfmx

It was a lot of fun to make, but a lot of work. I bought the files from a designer called desingedby3d on CGTrader. It was around 30 pieces. Printing and gluing was fine. Painting was a bit harder as the red had to be painted by hand. I scaled it down 50% so it could be displayed on his desk. It could be done full size for cosplay.

It's not perfect (I didn't even attempt to paint the symbol on the side) but he liked it and I learned a lot.

Please change "final blows with X" quests to include eliminations. Competing with your teammates for kills sucks for everyone involved.

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 05:16 AM PDT

It's mildly infuriating when you're trying to shoot someone down and your kill gets stolen, or having to kill-steal just to progress your own quest.

A good example is this season's Iron Banner questline. I had to hunt for kills on my own, or try to shoot someone else's target just to progress the kills necessary for the next step.

Scouts have a similar problem with the quest for Randy's Throwing Knife. If someone else comes along and "helps" me pick someone off, it's essentially 50/50 on whether I get quest progress or not.

The Solstice of Heroes had a similar problem, where I had to run off and kill mini-bosses by myself just to get through the questline, probably pissing off other people who also needed those mini-boss kills.

I wouldn't mind it if eliminations granted less progress than final blows, as long as I can always gain progress.

    Entirely True Undying Facts

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 03:28 AM PDT

The Black Garden Vex are a much older model than usually seen. Not as old as Precursors, but they appear to be the model directly following that. The Vex normally seen on Nessus, Io, Venus and Mars are a newer model, and more efficient than the Black Garden variant. Black Garden Vex are given simple programming, and appear to use their greater numbers to make up for their more basic minds.

Eris is more than pleased to see us. Since the death of her fireteam, she counts us as one of the three people she is closest to, the others being Ikora and Asher. She has, on occasion, made a motion to hug us, but has held back every time. She finds emotion incredibly difficult, as the last time she got too close to anyone, they all died horrifically. Her psyche cannot handle that a second time.

Ghosts found on Luna are mostly drained of Light, but following long periods of isolation on the Moon have learned to "hide" their remaining Light in a small pocket dimension. Only when disturbed does the Light escape and reveal the Ghosts last moments and thoughts.

The Daito Rabbits are a new addition to the Moon, not seen there in our previous visits. It is assumed they were placed as markers to exits similar to breadcrumbs by Fallen. Most of the rabbits are placed in situations comical to the Fallen, lending credence to the theory.

Zavala has taken on a far more long-sighted approach in the past few months, and has his eye on Venus as a second location for a City. Logistically, it will be incredibly difficult to establish a significant population on the hostile world, but believes two Cities are the way forward, as one falling would always be able to rely on the other. Of course, this long-sighted approach has taken his mind off the short term, and he nearly missed the Tower on the Moon.

Some Guardians spending long periods of time on Luna are exhibiting higher signs of aggression, a phenomenon that seems to grow stronger in the presence of the Pyramid Ship. One Titan was described as "feral" by a passing Hunter, as the Titan tore the arm off a Nightmare Ogre and beat another to death with it, then ate them both in a single sitting. Another Warlock has been seen attempting to sing, and when she hit a particular note, Thrall began to grab at their throats as if choking to death.

One Guardian refuses to return to the Moon, having seen a Nightmare of their former lover. The Guardians fireteam dragged him away in tears, as he clawed and fought to get to her spirit. When returned to the Tower, he regained his senses, but now has no intention of returning for fear of never leaving her.

Randy's Throwing Knife is a reference to a particular event regarding a knife and a control point. Randy, crucible legend that he is, went to capture A as his team had both B and C under total lockdown, and were simply farming kills at that point. As he was capturing A, his team screamed for him to leave, but Randy remained, defiant. As the whole opposing team descended on him, he threw his knife into the forehead of a Warlock readying a Nova Bomb. The Nova Bomb misfired, hitting the building next to them, causing it to collapse on the remaining members of the team.

The Pyramid Ship causes strange visions to appear in front of people, Guardian or not. Humans near the ship see visions of grandeur, being lauded in their chosen field as the best of the best. Awoken see a future of peace and calm prosperity, they lay quietly on a bed of soft white flowers while the wind gently caresses their skin. Exo see a horrific scene of flesh being shredded and replaced by cold steel, screams in the dark and the feeling of a ravenous hunger. Exo's do their best to steer clear of the ship, while Awoken and Humans find it very hard to leave.

Zavala has become increasingly hostile to Guardians requesting emblems for the most mundane achievements. One Hunter approached him with their hand outstretched for a full minute before Zavala sighed and asked what they were expecting. When the Hunter replied with "I shot a Screeb, wheres my emblem?", Zavala headbutted him. Even the Hunters Ghost looked down in shame.

Ikora has been liaising with Osiris regarding the Vex invasions, and he has devoted his time to running simulations of possible future outcomes from the continued assault. All simulations break down prior to the conclusion, but all of them show a Vex Gate in the Tower is the thing that finishes the invasions, for good or ill. Ikora is taking a gamble, but believes there are enough Guardians in the Tower at any given time to destroy the Gate should the Vex us it to attack us.

Tess has become increasingly greedy over the past few weeks, capitalizing on the influx of new Guardians, who are eager to buy her wares. Older Guardians however are thinking of ways to push her from the Tower without it looking too suspicious.

During our assault on the Pyramid Ship, prior to fighting Crota, Cayde's Spirit appeared behind us. He did not say anything, but had a beaming smile on his face, glad to see his old friend one more time. During the fight with Crota, Cayde's spirit whispered obscenities into Crota's ear to distract the God.

When I think about it, bungie should of reworked some exotics that rely on or already over-penetrate targets. Shouldn't arbalest be anti barrier by default?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 08:06 PM PDT

What about Wish ender? The bow that has a special perk that allows it go enter and do exit damage AND over-penetrate

Sleeper? " Laser overpenetrates and refracts. "

Skyburners oath. It has a perk that makes the rounds go through cabal shields BUT NOW ALMOST EVERY GUN CAN DO THAT AND MORE

Hardlight could be changed to go through shields because it already over-penetrates targets

My aim everytime I touch a sniper rifle

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 03:33 PM PDT

Bungie I know you love RNG mechanics but can we keep it out of melees?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 06:01 AM PDT

Not sure if it's just me but since Shadowkeep I've noticed a huge increase in ghost melees in pvp.

I've been trying to ignore them as it's always been a part of destiny but I've lost it when my melee whiffs twice in a row, and then again in the same IB match.

This is getting out of hand.

Edit: Yes I do realize this is tied to an underlying problem with the game, most probably peer 2 peer and is far from a simple fix. But we've been dealing with it for so long I just hoped to make some noise so hopefully someone at bungie will realize this is hurting their game more than they know.

I still think Destiny's personalized "The Legend of You" trailers are some of the best pieces of community engagement to date.

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 09:44 AM PDT

    Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUjG74PLQz4

For those of you who don't remember, right when The Taken King was set to launch, Bungie allowed to you log in with your credentials and it generated personalized trailers for each of your characters. I remember seeing that I had received the "Mark of the Unbroken" medal and still haven't felt as epic as I have watching these trailers. It truly made each of your characters feel unique and I WISH there would have been a way to save them.

Do you still have your trailer? I'd love to rewatch some of these and hopefully this encourages Bungie to bring back this sort of content in the future!

1-Hit Melee Raid Boss Kill - Prestige Val Ca'uor

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 08:25 AM PDT

Many of you may remember earlier this year when we killed Sedia with a single throwing hammer, marking the first time a strike boss had been killed with a single melee hit.

Since then we've seen the advent of new melee buffs such as One-Two Punch and Peregrine Greaves and the question constantly sitting in the back of my mind was this: Could we ever 1-Punch a raid boss?

Arc Empowerment during Solstice may have been our first opportunity to do so, but unfortunately the modifiers for prestige raids didn't line up during the event. We were ultimately looking for Prism with Anything in the Energy slot, because Prism provides double damage to the current element it's on, and Anything in the Energy slot would mean we could equip a One-Two Punch shotty. At the time, with the upcoming changes to how buffs stack, I was beginning to think that endeavor would never be a thing.

That is until Shadowkeep released and suddenly, there was now a small window after cutting off a sprint that allowed you to fire a One-Two Punch shotgun while in mid-air, then follow it up with a Shoulder Charge buffed by Peregrine Greaves. While this was possible previously by sliding, shotgunning, then shoulder charging, this was the first time we could utilize such a window anywhere with Peregrine Greaves. Upon this discovery, I began doing loads of damage testing to find what stacked the most efficiently only to find that melee buffs seemed to be unaffected by the changes, and could still stack on top of one another without limit. Which meant I only needed to wait for the Prestige modifiers to line up for us to try. And well, the math did not disappoint.

    The Clips

    The Strat

So you may watch those clips and think "Okay what the hell did I just watch?"

This entire strategy happens very quick, and isn't even that difficult to pull off if you follow the steps properly.

    • First off, I jump in the Well for the sake of survival while swapping my gear around. The only thing my teammates are focusing on is the balls and killing any Phalanxes that might yeet me into a wall while in my menu, while keeping enough enemies around me to keep Biotic Enhancements active on my Synthoceps.
    • Once Calus goes up and the burn swapped off Void to Arc, I go into my menu and swap off Synthoceps and equip 2 things: gauntlets from Spire with the Emperor's Shock mod equipped, and Peregrine Greaves. This gives me 8 seconds before Biotic Enhancements wears off to make the hit. Then I leave my menu.
    • As I'm running up to Val, charging up my shoulder charge, my team is doing 2 things. One person fires a tether near Val's feet which latches onto him, while another hits him with Divinity just as I'm about to hit him, minimizing their damage dealt while still giving me that extra buff of damage.
    • Then just before I shoulder charge, I fire my One-Two shotty and then hit him!

The health bar glitched out on every run we did of this(we killed him multiple times just to try to get a cleaner clip), and seems to stop halfway before instantly going down to his final stand. Though Val's health bar is often quite glitchy when massive amounts of damage are dealt at once, my theory on this is that it has to do with Thunder Coil, the class item mod from this season's artifact, and Shoulder Charge. It appears to deal the bonus damage from the mod a moment after the initial hit, which is something I noticed on many bosses all throughout the game. This also seemed to glitch the damage numbers after the fact. On one run, we wiped to see my exact damage numbers, and the damage fell a few hundred thousand points of damage short of Val Ca'uor's max health of ~1.6 million damage, despite it taking him to final stand. I believe this "missing damage" is just the game not accounting for the bonus damage dealt by Thunder Coil, though that damage is definitely there. In the clips above, my shoulder charge deals 2 separate numbers of damage: 999,999 and 206,421. I believe that second number is the bonus damage from Thunder Coil being separately considered.

And yes, other damage is being dealt. But in the photo linked just above, you can see it's an incredibly negligible amount. Before I finally dropped the Emperor's Shock mod, our best efforts left him with just a sliver of health. The damage added by that mod is well beyond the damage of the Divinity and my shotgun shot combined, meaning we're still dealing the full range of Val Ca'uor's health in a single hit of melee damage.

    The Buffs

As always with buffs in Destiny, the way they stack is not an exact science, especially the more buffs you stack at once. But here are each of the individual buffs at work here. I did a LOT of testing in the Castellum to ensure that every buff added onto the damage as the stacking got more crowded.

    • Biotic Enchancements(Synthoceps) - 3x Melee Damage Buff
    • Peregrine Strike(Peregrine Greaves) - 3x Melee Damage Buff
    • Thunder Coil Mod - ~1.8x Arc Melee Damage Buff
    • Emperor's Shock Mod - 25% Arc Damage Buff on the Leviathan
    • Arc Polarization(Prism) - 2x Arc Damage Buff
    • Divinity - 25% General Damage Buff
    • Shadowshot - 30% General Damage Buff
    • One-Two Punch - 3x Melee Damage Buff

    tl;dr

I finally have Randy knife, Exit Strat and Edgewise. Some helpful tips

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 05:45 AM PDT

Exit Strat: Play normal gambit. Always try to be the first depositing motes to get a medal and get kills without dying. The medals are the longest part of the quest but it's not as grindy as Randy Knife

Randy Knife: End as soon as possible the kills with scout rifle. After that I started to use Jottun and I don't know why but I started to get 3 or 4% per match after getting 1% every 2 or 3.

Edgewise: get the menagerie heavy machine gun. That's all.

I found harder the vanguard emblem quest. You need to do a lot of 920 or 950 nightfalls ( avoid the 750, it only gives 2%). Kill every champion that spawns so you get 8% or 9% of completion at the end.

To get the Arc Melee kills get the Hunter and use the upper skill of arcstrider. You can melee every enemy you see for 16 seconds

Sorry for my English but I wanted to say this. I didn't knew anything from this list and it might be helpful.

Bungie Plz: Remove Gate Lord's Eye Scaling Reset Cost

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 11:41 AM PDT

It would really be great if we could get the reset cost removed for future seasons. It seems inconsistent that they want us to have "choice" with our builds and mods, yet create a punishment mechanic for experimenting with the Gate Lord's Eye perks. This cost definitely hurts the practicality of changing your build more than a few times in a season and deters choice and experimentation.

Have two mod slots on weapons, one for regular mods, one for artifact mods

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 11:16 AM PDT

Saw the post asking for a reduction of cost regarding mod swapping. With the glimmer cap being 250k I honestly dont find this too bad, but I dont like having to constantly swap my gun mods every time I want to switch between PvP, PvE, and PvE with champions.

I think a great way to solve this small issue, would to have a slot on guns for artifact mods! Artifact mods dont have a HUGE affect anything not related to killing champions so I think this would make sense.

In addition, this would give you advantages of still being able to use regular mods, and also using artifact mods which shouldnt make too much of a difference related to balancing how difficult it still is to kill champions.

Edit: Yes I am aware that overload/antibarrier rounds do affect enemies other than champions; however, I still think that this would be a good idea.

Also keep in mind that armor 2.0 functions somewhat similar, artifact and activity based activities like raid and nightmare have their own respective mods in the last slot

Having some kind of "infinite" rift system like Diablo 3 would really go a long way to making Destiny feel more like an RPG

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 01:04 PM PDT

I think currently despite some kinks to iron out Destiny is the most "RPG" that its ever been, but without some kind of scaling content to really test unique/top tier builds it all feels a bit...pointless? I mean min maxing for the sake of it is certainly fun, but having some type of infinite scaling content to really push builds to the limit would be fantastic IMO. The infinite forest already feels like a solid base for this, especially with how it was implemented during the Revelry.

It could work almost the same, except it would need to be more randomized boss/enemy wise to keep it interesting, but at the end once you kill the boss you clear that group of branches and move on to the next group with higher light enemies. Could even have modifiers that get thrown in later. For instance the first 10 branches have no modifiers, branches 10-20 have Grounded, 20-30 have Grounded and Match Game etc...(obviously just throwing out random stuff here to get the idea across). Could even have a leaderboard in the tower that shows the highest branch completed by who, and obviously rewards tied to it somehow to make the grind worth it. I just feel like we really need some content to actually test top tier builds against.

Let me introduce you to my SIVA-themed season: Season of Infection.

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 05:15 PM PDT

Season of Infection reintroduces players to a SIVA-Crisis inspired brief story, relevant activities, rewards and some exotic ideas.

    • The farm is reintroduced as a new end-game social area, complete with a few changes, more importantly a big Last City ship parked on the soccer field, Nessus-Barge style, where you go inside to meet Zavala for quests, bounties and etc. As he is personally onboard for this season, overseeing management of a new SIVA outbreak.

    • A seasonal artifact which is an iron lord medallion.

    • A repeatable activity, similar to the Vex offensive, where players fight SIVA infected Fallen (or a new faction. SIVA-Vex anyone??) Maybe a redux of Archon's Forge as a bonus side activity? A special applied bonus for people who use Outbreak Perfected in this activity?

    • special seasonal themed rewards: Most importantly SIVA ornaments which can be applied to ANY piece of armour which gives it a red backlight glow, and SIVA nanites buzzing around you.

    • Two new exotic quests for new SIVA themed weapons. One a SIVA Nanite buckshot shotgun, the second a secret quest which awards you with a rocket launcher that also shoots SIVA swarms, similar to those old wolfpack rounds everyone likes.

    • A triumph section that actually awards you with a SIVA themed ghost, sparrow and ship upon completion of different relevant triumphs, which will be grindy for the duration of the season.

...Basically my point here is that I think SIVA is awesome and a perfect thing to utilize for a seasonal activity. It doesn't have to be an Archon's Forge redux, but something that involves Infected Fallen and possibly an area from the Cosmodrome that was walled off. I'd love Felwinter Peak back because it was such a cool area. Maybe this could be the social area instead of the Farm. Using the Farm again would be cool, especially if we moved Zavala there on a parked Vanguard cruiser or something, Barge-style.

I really like SIVA and the purpose of this season's rewards would be to deck your armour out in a glowing red backlight SIVA theme.
