Can we all agree that the Tower Postal Service is the most badass group of non-guardians to ever exist?

    Posted: 15 Nov 2019 02:46 PM PST

Think about it for a second. Guardians go into the most highly contested hotzones with cross fire going every which way, dying constantly to enemy fire, and leave a TON of loot behind due to the needs of the mission they're on. Then the postal workers come in behind us, and make sure to grab every last engram and item we leave behind, likely in an area still under enemy surveillance, to make sure we don't miss any of it.

On top of just being the ballsiest non-guardians just for making sure we get that blue chestpiece with no concern for their own mortality, the distances they traverse and the speed they move at to make sure we get our loot is insane. We'd be knee deep in the Dreaming City, just having killed Riven of One Thousand Voices, and we just received our reward from the Awoken, with no space in our bags to carry it. By the time we get back to the Tower, the postal workers have flown to the Dreaming City, worked out clearance with the corsairs, proceeded through the entire watchtower, grabbed our mail, trecked all the way back out, flown back home, and handed off our engrams to Kadi before we so much as enter Earth orbit.

Say what you will about the Tower vendors, but leave the postmaster out of it. Because come rain, sleet, snow, or Hive, the Tower Postal Service will not rest until they make sure that blue engram you left in the pit of Ghalran's chambers is safely in your hands.

Edit: firstly WOW I didn't expect this to gain as much clout as it did. Glad to see everyone loves Kadi and her crew as much as I do. Secondly, thanks to whoever gave the silver!

Make it 500 glimmer to swap Weapon mods, instead of 5000.

    Posted: 15 Nov 2019 01:48 PM PST

I just want to be able to swap my weapon mods around, like on my recluse for example. I want to swap from Icarus grip to minor spec/anti barrier, depending on whether I'm in PvP or PvE

    Weapon mods *** also

Just how is Breakneck currently? Numbers inside.

    Posted: 15 Nov 2019 05:05 AM PST

Alright, so a number of my clanmates AND a lot of people on this sub are up in arms about Breakneck's nerf to both of its perks, so I've decided to run the numbers on it.

Testing ground: Castellum of Normal Leviathan, all damage numbers will be recorded against a red bar Legionary.

Weapons to be used in testing:

    • Breakneck, the 450 Kinetic autorifle in question with Rampage and the pinnacle perk Onslaught (750 power)
    • Year 1 Origin Story, a 450 Kinetic autorifle with Rampage I will use to get damage numbers for the 450rpm archetype (930 power)
    • Ether Doctor, a 600 Kinetic autorifle with Zen Moment and Rampage I will use to get damage numbers for the 600rpm archetype (946 power)
    • Arc Logic, a 600 Energy autorifle with Pulse Monitor and Rampage I will use to test the damage difference between kinetic and energy weapons, as I am out of kinetic autos with rampage to test with (945 power)
    • Misfit, a 720 Energy autorifle with DSR and Rampage I will use with the results of the Ether Doctor/Arc Logic tests to get approximated kinetic 720rpm damage numbers.

Weapon / Damage No Stacks 1 stack of Rampage 2 stacks of Rampage 3 stacks of Rampage
    Breakneck 203 body, 304 head 201 body, 301 head 197 body, 294 head 189 body, 283 head
    Origin Story 203 body, 304 head 224 body, 334 head 246 body, 368 head 270 body, 404 head
    Ether Doctor 165 body, 264 head 181 body, 290 head 199 body, 319 head 219 body, 351 head
    Arc Logic 157 body, 251 head 172 body, 276 head 190 body, 304 head 209 body, 334 head
    Misfit 143 body, 213 head 157 body, 234 head 172 body, 258 head 190 body, 283 head
    Hypothetical Kinetic 720rpm with Rampage (approx) 150 body, 223 head 164 body, 245 head 180 body, 270 head 199 body, 297 head

Assumption 1: Breakneck rpm is 450/600/600/720 at 0/1/2/3 stacks of rampage as listed by this post. That leads to the following theoretical max DPS's (i.e. no reloading accounted for):

Weapon / DPS No stacks 1 stack of Rampage 2 stacks of Rampage 3 stacks of Rampage
    Breakneck 1522.5 body, 2280 head 2010 body, 3010 head 1970 body, 2940 head 2268 body, 3396 head
    450 Kinetic 1522.5 body, 2280 head 1680 body, 2505 head 1845 body, 2760 head 2025 body, 3030 head
    600 Kinetic 1650 body, 2640 head 1810 body, 2900 head 1990 body, 3190 head 2190 body, 3510 head
    720 Energy 1716 body, 2556 head 1884 body, 2808 head 2064 body, 3096 head 2280 body, 3396 head
720 Kinetic (does not exist with rampage currently) 1800 body, 2676 head 1968 body, 2940 head 2160 body, 3240 head 2388 body, 3564 head

So at first, Breakneck is nuts - 1 stack of rampage on it does more DPS than on any other auto rifle (okay maybe 360s I didn't test those) but then it all goes wrong at 2 stacks, DPS dropping BELOW a regular 600 rpm with 2 stacks of rampage. Even at 3 stacks it's worse than a normal 720rpm, even an energy one that it does ~5% more damage than because of being kinetic. The only thing Onslaught lets the gun outpace is its own 450rpm archetype, which compared to the others struggles anyway.

When I get back from my lectures I'll do some more testing and edit this post with the results of factoring reload speed and magazine size into the equation.EDIT (15:15 UTC): Alright then boys and girls (and those who may not fall under either) time to do sustained DPS!

Breakneck has a reload stat of 51 base, reduced to 33 by Extended Mag. In the name of fairness, I will attempt to compare to autorifles that:

    1. have reload stats close to 33
    2. have no reload modifiers on their magazine perk and reload stats close to 51, if point 1 fails

    Thus I will be using:

    • Breakneck, of course, with a magazine of 34 (40 in use), rpm of 450-720 and reload stat of 51 base (33 in use)
    • Year 1 Origin Story, with a magazine of 32 (36 in use), rpm of 450 and reload stat of 47.
    • Ghost Primus, with a magazine of 44, rpm of 600 and reload stat of 55.
    • a Misfit with Extended Mag, giving a magazine of 60, rpm of 720 and reload stat of 35.

Measuring reload time as the time between the bullet count hitting 0 on one mag and decrementing from full in the next mag with mouse held down.

    Weapon Reload Speed (seconds)
    Breakneck, 0 stacks of Rampage 2.48 +- 0.02
    Breakneck, 1 stack 2.48 +- 0.02
    Breakneck, 2 stacks 1.84 +- 0.02
    Breakneck, 3 stacks 1.92 +- 0.02
    Origin Story 2.16 +- 0.02
    Ghost Primus 2 +- 0.02
    Misfit 1.92 +- 0.02

So these results are...well. Interesting to say the least. Here comes that DPS table again, but this time using sustained DPS.

Weapon / Sustained DPS No stacks 1 stack of Rampage 2 stacks of Rampage 3 stacks of Rampage
    Breakneck 1039.2 body, 1556.3 head 1240.7 body, 1858 head 1349.3 body, 2013.7 head 1439.1 body, 2154.8 head
    450 Kinetic 1050 body, 1572.4 head 1158.6 body, 1727.6 head 1272.4 body, 1903.4 head 1396.6 body, 2089.7 head
    600 Kinetic 1134.4 body, 1815 head 1244.8 body, 1993.8 head 1368.1 body, 2193.1 head 1505.6 body, 2413.1 head
    720 Energy 1239.9 body, 1846.8 head 1361.3 body, 2028.9 head 1491.3 body, 2237 head 1647.4 body, 2453.8 head
720 Kinetic (does not exist with rampage currently) 1300.6 body, 1933.5 head 1422 body, 2124.3 head 1560.7 body, 2341 head 1725.4 body, 2575.1 head

And now the shortcomings of that short magazine become clear, with Breakneck thoroughly behind every non-450rpm auto rifle once reloading is factored in.

    EDIT (16:36 UTC) : Holy fucking shit I look away to do the reload speed calculations and I have four medals. What the hell guys, I'm literally just putting numbers in a calculator! There's gotta be better stuff to throw gold and platinum at than my numbers o.o;;

Hey Bungie folks, are y'all okay?

    Posted: 15 Nov 2019 03:53 PM PST

Five hours ago, they tweeted this:

Due to an emergent issue, we have disabled the option to sign into http://Bungie.net. Standby for updates.

Complete silence since. Site is still down, as is API access.

"Emergent situation" sounds bad. It's the type of thing that is said along with a phrase like "loss of hull integrity".

    You folks alright?

The final 3 weeks of Eververse Season 8

    Posted: 15 Nov 2019 09:31 AM PST

Alright people, let's do this one last time!🕷️

Here's the final 3 weeks of Destiny2 Eververse Season 8. Some items are still jumbled so I broke them out at the bottom. Each item will replace one of the question marks. Double Jotuneer is NOT a mistake. Subject to change.

Want to double check? I made a video that walks you through the process of "reading" the Eververse data. You can watch that HERE. Note: The audio is a little low. I'm not good at videos. >.<

Resilience cannot be made too effective considering the nature of the game, so as a result, its benefits are minuscule. Perhaps the stat needs to go or be replaced.

    Posted: 15 Nov 2019 08:19 AM PST

    Hear me out.

If everyone was defaulted to a resilience of 4 or 5 and the stat was removed from the game, I can't believe that too many players would notice a difference at all.

The problem with Resilience and the competitive nature of the game is that if Resilience actually did anything noticeable, then everyone would feel compelled to max out the stat. Especially in PvP. A high Resilience guardian would have a major advantage over everyone else in 1v1 situations. For PvE it wouldn't be as apparent, but it would be noticeable (actually, buffing Resilience for PvE may not be a bad way to address the issue).

Right now, I think most players are satisfied having a Resilience of 3, 4, or even 5. High Resilience armor drops start to feel like a waste, especially considering how much more valuable Recovery is. With the nature of Destiny, the game designers are forced to keep Resilience from mattering too much, and as a result we are forced to have just enough, but not too much or too little.

From a game design perspective, it might be a good move just to eliminate the stat altogether and leave it, or replace it with something more interesting.

I Feel Like Gambit Would Feel Better if Motes Had a Much Larger Pick Up Radius

    Posted: 15 Nov 2019 12:50 PM PST

Gambit gets a bad rep. And ya it can be extremely frustrating. From bounties that promote working against your teammates to some weapon inevitably being a menace for a short time before being nerfed.

However, after collecting candies and chocolates in the Tower, I realized they're just motes. And you barely have to walk near them to pick them up. I think if Gambit motes picked up that well/quickly, the mode would actually be noticeably more enjoyable. The feeling of just being able to keep running as you kill enemies would make the mode feel more brisk.

Anyway there are definitely other ways to improve Gambit but I think this would be simple to implement and have a far more dramatic positive impact than it sounds.

    Hunter knives

    Posted: 15 Nov 2019 06:37 AM PST

I made this knife set as a gift for my friend's wedding. He chose me as his best man so I thought I'd attempt at making these. They turned out pretty good. The back panel is resin. I 3D printed all the pieces first then made a mold and poured translucent orange (for solar of course) resin for the gamer tag and two logos. The knives were cast out of aluminum in green sand from 3D printed versions. Not sure how of if I can link more pictures here. I have some shots of the process but this is the finished product. Let me know your thoughts.

I was deleting a bunch of blues that I got playing last night and I noticed as the gauntlets deleted what the roll on it was. I had to clip the footage and scroll through to assure myself that I hadn't been seeing things. I didn't know that you could even get rolls that high so I am also wondering what the highest stat roll anyone has seen

Can hush and oxygen please get some love?

Hush honestly doesn't feel good at anything... and oxygen is just meh. Breakneck was ruined but these 2 weapons were never truly pinnacle and deserve some love.

A Fireteam that goes to the beach together, stays together. The Love Shaxx! 1st IRL clan meetup!

    Posted: 15 Nov 2019 10:25 AM PST

Members of our current clan, The Love Shaxx! have been jamming sticks and smashing buttons together for well over 6 years.
We are year one guardians and can still be found online together most nights of the week.

Four of our crew decided to cover the 6500 miles and cross over 20 states to finally get together.

From Portland, OR, Pittsburgh PA, and Omaha, NE (now Tampa), with PS4s in hand, we converged on St. Pete beach in Florida for a long weekend of sand, sun, and LAN party fun.
We should have done it sooner, I hope we do it again in the very near future.

Check out the nonsense here: The Love Shaxx! go to the beach

If you are on Playstation and see RaspberryMode, PewpyChuck, hookR2, ogMerc_ or anyone else in The Love Shaxx! crew, make sure to double dip yer potato chips on our lifeless chins so we know you've seen us!

"Until next time. Go find what awaits you. Enjoy yourselves Guardians." -Shaxx

What's the deal with gambit enemies?

What's the deal with gambit enemies?

We're over a year into Gambit now and I still don't understand these guys. Doesn't matter if it's regular or prime.

Sometimes their ass is grass and I mow through them, sometimes they refuse to die and do loads of damage to me instead. With the same loadout. There are no modifiers active that I've noticed, and I can't find a definitive answer to this online anywhere.

Real question, what's going on here?

if I'm already Season Rank 100+ if I buy the pass now will I get all the extra rewards instantly?

I've been playing for free and all those bonus rewards for just $10 is tempting, seeing as how I've already earned them

PLEASE do something regarding Scatter Grenades' bugged physics.

    Posted: 15 Nov 2019 01:56 PM PST

Title. I have played a Warlock for years now, and my favorite grenade's collision/detonation physics have been absolutely terrible for far too many of those years.

They bounce in place. They stick to the floor and wait for prey. They phase through walls, ceilings, and enemies.

Sometimes, they deal far too much damage. Sometimes, they deal no damage at all. Sometimes, they detonate as soon as I throw them and they kill me instantly.

Please, Bungie. Make Scatter Grenades usable again. Right now it just feels like they're a singularity that's slowly absorbing all of the jank from the rest of the game.

A clip for those unaware of just how broken Scatter Grenades are atm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bemekHT9QJw&t=8m11s
