Please stop complaining about Titles, thanks!

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 01:34 PM PST

Titles in mmos and even Destiny 2 have historically been tied to challenges/grinds that require more than the average player is willing to give or have. Bungie has already crippled existing Pinnacle weapons, completely gutted Pinnacles as a concept, and now people want them to dumb down Titles? Fucking seriously?

Titles, especially in Destiny 2, were never and are never supposed to be handouts. Ask any Unbroken or Rivensbane.

    Ask Scarab Lord Luke Smith.

Just because a Title is tied to a limited time event, or in this case a season, does not mean it's magically going to be less of a slog than the others - it just means you had a limited time to get it. The hilarity of it all is that the Undying is inarguably the easiest title to get in the history of Destiny 2 so far. (No flawless raid requirements, no flawless anything for that matter!)

Hell, the MMXIX title had even less time to it's name to get and I didn't see a fraction of the bitching and moaning tied to it that Undying has.

So, if you know the title is around for a limited time, requires certain tasks to be completed, why then complain about it? Not everyone is going to have the time to dedicate to it, hell some people don't even want to be bothered doing 3 more Vex Offensives.

Titles can be earned by everyone, but not everyone will have them and that's just part of rewarding game design. If you didn't finish the requirements for the title and don't get it - that's entirely on you. You certainly don't lose anything for not having the title and to think you do is entirely a "you" problem.

It's like getting mad at a teacher for telling you that you won't get extra credit toward your grade if you don't do extra credit! This is all coming from someone who has 0 titles to his name btw! I've been 2 resets away from Dredgen, and 3 flawless Menaj clears from Shadow!

Please, leave Titles as something for the overachievers and don't complain when you didn't put in the work to get them because if you're complaining about them they probably didn't fit into how much effort you wanted to put in for them.

All Seals and Titles should come with an Emblem, Shader, Finisher, Ornament of some sort.

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 07:45 AM PST

Whether it's a Saint-14 Headbutt Finisher for the Undying Title, or a Taken shader for the Cursebreaker Title, there is so much unused potential to make chasing for a title more desirable.

Bungie please for the love of God buff Redrix, Luna’s and Breakneck for PVE.

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 11:34 AM PST

These weapons were not easy to obtain and took time and effort. In addition to this the Redrix and Luna's are two of the best looking weapons aesthetically for me (which is important!)

I really hope they are looked at in future.

Don't expect your opinions to make an impact on the next season.

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 03:21 AM PST

This is not a post saying that Bungie doesn't care or isn't listening. With all the posts of people saying "this season was bad and this is how things should change" I figured it would be good to say that the development of the next season is probably already done. New activities, new cosmetics, etc. are already complete and your opinions on the season at this point are most likely getting seen, but it won't change the next season because everything is most likely already in place.

Let the next season be what it is. If your opinions haven't been heard and implemented by the time the season after comes, then we have a problem, but don't don't get mad when bungie can't change things that have been pointed out that they can't reasonably change at this point.

Edit: Went to bed and this blew up like crazy. I had to turn off notifications from Reddit for now. Also, thanks for the gold and silver fellow Redditors!

Edit 2: A couple other things I'd like to make apparent after reading some comments. I am not, by any means, telling anyone to stop voicing their opinions. The post is mainly meant to manage expectations for next season.

To anyone saying "just stop playing the game", that's not the point. We complain because we love this game and we want it to be the best it can be. You can't understand what your doing wrong without criticism.

Bungie, bright engram drop rates need a serious retuning.

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 06:10 PM PST

On Bungie's official drop chances page (https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/47066#S7BrightEngram) the rates that exotics drop are:

    • Ghosts - 2%
    • Ships - 2%
    • Sparrows - 2%
    • Emotes - 3%
    • Weapon and armor ornaments - 10%

This was fine for previous seasons since we were able to get 1 bright engram on each level up and let us collect cool items just by playing and not specifically grinding for them. For the average player to collect all of the ornaments at a 10% average drop rate, we can be expected to get 1 ornament per 10 engrams, or 50 levels, making it 800 season levels on average to collect all 16 of the ornaments, alone.

I have personally put in ~ 300 hours since launch on steam, and am currently season level 180, so unless I spend every moment grinding xp to level up there is little to no chance of collecting the rest of the ornaments.

Considering that these engrams are also available for silver with no in-game drop rates page, this is incredibly consumer unfriendly and should be changed for the next season.

edit: This is ignoring Bungie's "increasing probabilities" since it is not stated anywhere how much the probability increases, and I can imagine it won't make a huge difference

An exotic that allows you to call your Titan throwing hammer back from a distance would be awesome! I would gladly sacrifice my exotic slot for not having to manually go and pick up the hammer after every throw.

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 07:12 AM PST

I'm sure something like this has been suggested before but I'll gladly reinforce that suggestion.

There would be some balancing that needs to be taken into consideration since picking up the hammer after it hits something regens health. Maybe remote recalls should just not give health back? What do you think?

Why does hand cannon targeting cost 4 mod points while all other primaries only cost 1-2?

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 01:36 PM PST

I understand hand cannons were/are meta in crucible. But 4 points on that seems a bit much when all others are less. Even ammo finders are 1-3 points

    Xenophage 2.0

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 02:09 PM PST

Hot take: Xenophage does less damage than my dad's angry rants when he gets drunk. Hi, yes, you can leave the platinum stickers on the door on your way out.

We all know that, and we all know that it's getting a 50% damage buff when Season of Dawn comes out. And we all know that a 50% damage buff will make Xenophage ascend from the pits of completely useless, into the hallowed halls of... mostly useless. Using the huge damage chart, we can easily see how Xenophage stacks up to other LMGs, and weapons in general. This isn't the first thread about "bad gun is bad", and I'm going to assume y'all can read a spreadsheet, so I won't go into the nitty gritty of why bad gun is bad. All I will say is that the promised 50% boost to damage will do... just about nothing. Again, this is nothing new, so instead I'll look at a potential ground-up rework of Xenophage, and that relies on a fact that I don't see people really talking about often.

    Xenophage has no exotic trait.

Most exotic weapons have an exotic intrinsic and an exotic trait. The intrinsic modifies how the gun handles at base ("this rocket launcher fires two rockets at once" or "this pulse rifle fires two-round bursts where the second shot is significantly more powerful") while the second is some sort of effect on top of that ("one rocket is solar that does DoT, the other is void that suppresses" and "kills cause powerful explosions, which cause further explosions). Xenophage has... Rangefinder. On a gun that can't crit, and which already has no damage falloff. So, it's a completely useless perk, as far as I can tell. The obvious solution is to replace Rangefinder with something, but we'll get to that.

First off, the intrinsic, Pyrotoxin Rounds, needs a bit of a rework. As it stands, causing explosions on impact is nothing new, and nor is it particularly interesting, all it does is make Xenophage a hitscan grenade launcher. So first off, the damage needs to be buffed, and Xenophage needs to be able to crit. Again, this is nothing new, but I wanted to include it for completeness' sake. Another addition, though, is that Xenophage should deal bonus damage to Hive. This fits in with the whole idea of Omar Agah being so fucking angry at the Hive that sticking him in a gun lets you fire explosive bolts, and gives the gun an extra bit of uniqueness. Even if the damage boost is just something like 10-25%, that gives it an edge in content like Pit of Heresy, or any future endgame Hive content.

Anyways, back to the trait perk. Rangefinder is pretty terrible, but you could also replace Composite Stock, since that's almost irrelevant for Xenophage. In general, Xenophage needs to do something more unique than "it creates boom boom when you hit something." So, here's a few ideas for exotic traits:

    • Sting a Little: Damaging enemies with Xenophage causes them to burn over time
      • This is the simplest one. Nothing about "pyrotoxin" sounds like "explosions", but it absolutely sounds like "Damage over time." So, give it that. Make it significant enough to actually make the gun worth using, around 50% or so extra damage.
    • In This Life, Not the Next: Consecutive shots on a single target do increased damage.
      • This aims Xenophage squarely at the major/boss killing market, which is where it always seemed like it was designed for. Basically, have it stack up to 10 times, with each stack doing 10% more damage. It'd last long enough that you could score another hit on a target after reloading before the buff disappears.
    • The Fire Rages: Killing an enemy increases damage consecutively, and refunds the bullet. This lasts until the weapon is holstered, you miss or deal non-lethal damage.
      • And this perk keeps it more in the minor/major killing slot of other LMGs. If you kill something, you get a boost to damage and a free bullet, which persists until you hit something that doesn't die in one-shot, such as a major.

Honestly, season-gated content and rewards makes me want to PLAY LESS instead of more and makes me feel unwelcome

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 06:11 AM PST

I would describe myself as a "hardcore casual" player...

...like there are probably a lot of in Destiny: Taking longer breaks from the game but when active you play quite a lot (or too much...) of it.

So, I came back to the game last weekend after a somewhat-half-year break and am looking at the Triumphs that I can achieve and the activities that I can partake in.

Sadly a lot of content is season-gated like the "Undying" title and there is no way that I will be able to achieve it until the end of the season.

And if I am not mistaken there are other Triumphs I won't be able to get later on because the activities will go away after this season.

What I always loved about Destiny 1 & 2 is the ability to take breaks but still have long term goals to slowly but surely nibble away at and work towards.

One example that just comes to mind is The Mountaintop PVP quest in D1. I am not the greatest PVP player so it took me a while but I could always chip away at it over a couple of weeks, on my own terms. Other people sure are faster at it but I had my fun, nonetheless.

But if these goals become season-gated then this makes me lose interest in the game without a doubt because I lose carrots to chase.

And there already are other rewards that I deliberately ignore (at the moment) and won't be able to get: Raids and Nightfall.

But that is fine! I can always do the raids later if I want, no one is taking these away from me.

I did all the Raids in D1 and the first in D2, did the NF in D1 and some in D2, but at the moment I won't. So I deliberately skip it and miss out on loot and rewards but so what, I can come back later if I want to. So that's great.

But with these season-gated activities? I either do them now, when I am told to do, or I don't. So I guess I don't? And miss out on content that I bought but I wasn't there at the right time to play. Which removes a possible long term goal, something to chase later when I want to, on my own terms.

It's like Bungie is saying: "Behold, all the shiny things... that you will never be able to get!"

Season-gated content makes me feel sad, honestly, and unwanted as a player.

It does not make me play more, instead it makes me want to PLAY LESS.

Redrix 1.1 Released: Enhanced crucible stats & analysis.

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 10:58 AM PST

I wanted let everyone know that we have officially released version 1.1 of Redrix, our crucible companion app.

The main feature is a new game details view that breaks down kills by weapon / ability, shows all your medals (with descriptions), and displays other relevant details.

We've also added Stadia support, made the performance chart larger, improved UI on smaller phones, fixed some sign-in issues, and squashed a bunch of bugs.

Thanks again for all the support and feedback we've received from this community. You all rock!

Grab the app for iOS or Android, or take a look at what it does at https://redrix.io/

We've got lots of ideas for the next release (being able to see other players' match details is high on that list), but we'd love your feedback on what to tackle next.

After 950, "Powerful Drops" should yield Enhancement Materials.

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 02:38 PM PST

Once you hit 950, the need to complete all of your powerful drops immediately. This is understandable, but I feel lots of people would still like to be able to get some value out of them other than more random 48-52 armor pieces.

I think something along the lines of 3-5 Enhancement Cores for weekly powerful drops and maybe an Enhancement Prism for completing weekly vendor challenges. Could be more, could be less.

There are lots of people with friends, clan mates and NL players who still need to do the powerful drops and it would give an nice bonus for 950+ people to still get something useful out of it.

I know I enjoyed the freedom of not having to do them anymore, but it would be nice if I was getting a small reward for playing crucible or gambit etc.

Also bungie likes the psychological aspect of people feeling like they need to log in so I think it could work for them in that regard as well.

Bungie, dismantling weapons with mods you don't have should add them to your collection

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 05:23 PM PST

This was how it worked all last year, why did y'all take it away? Now the only way to get weapon mods is to buy them off Banshee or Ada, and then you get shat on if you're just missing boss spec and it takes Banshee three weeks for him to sell it. Or, if you're like me, a complete idiot, you forgot you didn't have any copies of boss spec in your inventory when S8 ticked over, then realized dismantling your Mountaintop did nothing.

Obviously this isn't as much an issue for veterans like me, but for newer players, it's tedious as hell to get all the weapon mods.

Dear Bungie: Please let us acquire shaders we get on gear drops without having to dismantle the item

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 07:08 AM PST

    Bungie,

I get that some shaders are supposed to be rare. That's fine.

I get that they're for showing off and are strictly cosmetic, and that's fine too, but having rare shaders drop tied to an item and not being able to use it unless I destroy that item is so frustrating.

Yesterday, I was grinding forges for a well-rolled Kindled Orchid to use in place of Recluse since I'm kinda tired of using it and it's getting nerfed anyway. Normal stuff. I complete the forge and pick up my loot and I see I got 2 Kindled Orchids, one being the f'ing CURATED roll I've been trying to get since Black Armory (fav season ever btw).

Before I even inspect it, I think to myself "this is gonna be a massive slap in the face and have Bergusian Night on it isn't it lol". I inspected it and, alone in my dorm, groaned out a loud "WHY". I've done a ridiculous amount of Bergusia in the past trying to get the shader as it is EASILY one of my favorite shaders in the entire game and have wanted it BAD since it was added.

But now I have to make the choice to either dismantle this amazing hand cannon that I've been trying to get forever, and get a shader I've been trying to get forever, OR keep the hand cannon and let the shader mock me until the end of time.

Alright, maybe I'm being dramatic. I could grind out more and more and more frames or do SotP, and eventually get another curated drop and dismantle it. But it seriously sucks that I have to dismantle a curated roll to get this shader. The drop rate is low enough, I don't think it's that cool that I have to destroy great weapons to get my swag on.

I have the shader, I just can't use it without also losing a weapon I've been after for just as long, and that sucks.

    Thanks.

tl;dr I got Bergusian Night, which I've wanted since Black Armory, on a curated Kindled Orchid, which I've been after for just as long. It sucks that I have to choose between a curated gun or a good piece of armor, and the shader I've wanted for months. Please change this.

D1 iron banner weapons looked way better than D2

IB weapons such as clever dragon and saladins vigil looks so much better than the ones we have now. Today's weapons look like just any other weapon with a different shader. No unique model and or sound

Bungie, we should not be losing points in glory due to an error code prior to even entering a match.

By the worm gods, that was so unbelievably broken. Watching that slag witch go bam pow straight to the earth like that. Is there a help hotline? Or a witchs battered shelter? If she survives reentry and terminal velocity, she's gonna need some emotional support when on earth.

In all seriousness. What a nasty combo..i love titans lol.

Please let us skip the campaign on other characters and delete new light quests.

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 04:57 AM PST

So I've been playing Shadowkeep since launch and I used a Hunter the entire time, now I wanna switch to my warlock that I created before shadowkeep launched, but I didn't touch it once. Now when if I wanna switch to my warlock, have these new light quests and the shadowkeep campaign signs flashing on every planet is very annoying. Sure, doing the campaign for the first time was a little interesting because you didn't know what was gonna happen, but doing it the second time knowing all the missions you just realize how incredibly tedious and boring it becomes to do the campaign for the second time. Along with this, I have new light quests flashing on every single planet which I can't delete, which is super annoying. I know you put this in so actual new light players wouldn't delete the quest on accident, but you can make the dismantle take really long and make you press a button to confirm this at the end with a disclaimer. I'm trying to switch to warlock, and these minor things are pretty annoying.

Can we acknowledge that Mercury hasn't been flashpoint in 18 resets?

    Posted: 20 Nov 2019 01:07 AM PST

    Title.

I'm currently 1 triumph away from my first title, and the one thing I need is heroic adventure completions on mercury, and with the way adventures work now, the only way to do heroic adventures is when flashpoint is on the planet.

All the other planets that can have flashpoint have had it at least 2-3 times in these 18 weeks (excluding the moon for obvious reasons). Can we at least have the ability to go to the planet vendor and claim a heroic adventure to do each day? Leaving it entirely to however bungie decide their flashpoints isn't exactly ideal, because for all I know it could be another 18 resets until mercury is flashpoint again.
