There is too much RNG to make the Armor 2.0 grind worthwhile.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 10:46 AM PST

When you get a drop from anywhere in the game, in order to obtain a "good" armor piece you have to have multiple variables go your way:

    1. Hope you even get an armor piece.
    2. Hope it's for an armor slot you actually need.
    3. Hope it's the right affinity for your build.
    4. Hope it has good total stats.
    5. Hope it has good stats in the perks you actually care about.

Notice in this list that all you can do is hope. There is no path towards actually getting better stat rolls on armor. How many times have you gotten a raid drop in the low 50s? Or you finally got one with good stats but it's Solar instead of Arc?

There needs to be ways of going for drops that you want. One method from D1 was choosing whether you wanted an armor piece or a weapon from a faction rank up. This immediately allows you to at least guarantee an armor piece. Why not put this in place at the very least for factions in this game? The affinity system, as has been stated before, needs a rework. Maybe let us increase our chances of finding armor with a specific affinity via some in-game consumable? And then actually guarantee pinnacles drop with a 56+ roll at the very least.

Rocket Launchers should have a 2 shell mag capacity.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 09:16 AM PST

I think this will bring back the use of Rocket Launchers for sure.

With the Nerf to cluster bombs, inherently slow reload time, and removal of auto-reload mechanics, rocket Launchers (besides Truth in Gambit) really have been burried well below 6 feet.

I, personally love the idea of grabbing a big a** weapon to kill a big a** boss, it makes sense!

    How do you balance this?

Honestly, no clue, BUT I can throw out some ideas to work with. Here's what I got:

    1. Lower impact per shell but maintain viable DPS. Maybe a 10-20% damage reduction will be good. At worst it still good mob clear

    2. Slower reload. This will emphasize having reload mods, perks, and exotics that synergize with launchers. This in turn allows for more creative builds and decision making.

    3. Lower overall shell reserve capacity. This one is tough since they are already low. But if nothing else changes, the dps will still be nice.

    4. Limit 2 shells to only legendary Launchers and maybe buff exotics in a different way (two-tailed fox*).

That's my suggestion. Let me know what y'all think.

    Towerthought: Ace probably has 13 shots because there are 13 card types in a deck: Aces, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jacks, Queens, and Kings.

Bungie 920 Nightfalls are basically the new heroic strike playlist, except it doesn't rotate. Put the learnings from The Ordeal into the Heroic Playlist

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 05:44 PM PST

Now whenever I think of farming strikes, I go into 920 ordeals because:

    - Obviously because of Matchmaking

    - I get chances at exotics, Prisms and Cores (no Ascendant shards but Im not in dire need of them with my sub-par gear)

    - I get a good chance at strike specific loot

    - Champion gameplay and the unique strike modifiers like Shocker and Modular Algorithm.

    - Also Strike Scoring

These things should also be added to Heroic strikes

    1. Champions should probably stay specific to ordeal but those modifiers are fun like Shocker or Air Superiority. Named Modifiers like Modular Algorithm and Savathuns Song (idk the name) can be weekly modifiers can vary up loadouts if potent enough.
    2. Strike Scoring like in D1 with medals to chase and a passive thing that is just there for the fun factor and maybe extra loot at certain thresholds like 50k.
    3. Better loot, nobody is going to be farming blues, increase chances of materials or strike loot. Im not asking for Ascendant shards after every strike, but maybe a percent chance of getting Cores, Upgrade Modules, or Prisms would be nice.

Bright Engrams should have a lower chance to drop something you already got. In just the last two weeks alone I have lost count of how many times I got the ‘Death to Kells’ and ‘Threat Display’ ships.

I hope there is a sparrow called the Dawnmower next season

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:44 PM PST

I believe older Vex enemies need to be reused more often.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 11:05 AM PST

I'll keep this short since I don't believe many will even read this with today being Thanksgiving.

I know I'm not alone when I say I'm somewhat weary of the enemy types we've been facing. While some races had additions through expansions and seasons, like the Fallen with their Shank variants, the Vex have more or less remained the same save for a few one time additions. And when I was grinding Vex Offensive I realized this lack of variation in the Vex kind of hurts.

So I thought, what if those one time additions appeared more frequently in the ranks of the Vex? What if there were Heavy Harpies like the Restorative Mind or Heavy Hobgoblins like the Genesis Mind? What if there were more Hydra with that unique shield only present in Black Armory or Minotaur with various guns like the Modular Mind?

What if those Vex types had appeared in Vex Offensive and the invasions on the Moon?

The Vex would be getting a major uplift the likes of which the Cabal got with the release Destiny 2. Now I know updating models like this takes time and places great strain on Bungie's teams but it honestly feels bad knowing how cool the Vex can be. I know it's far too late for anything to be changed about Season of Dawn but this doesn't just apply to the Vex. Other unique enemy types have been abandoned. For instance those hand axe Knights found only in the Menagerie. They were similar to Abyssal Champions but their attack animation was slightly different and was a slight change of pace when fighting the Hive aboard the Leviathan.

Perhaps I'm just bias as the Vex are by far my favorite enemy type and what they've received in both Curse of Osiris and Season of the Undying has been discomforting. What do you guys think?

Exodus Crash Is STILL The Worst

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 05:14 PM PST

    Title.

Who and/or why would anyone ever want to run this? You could trim out any gated section of this Strike and it'd be infinitely better.

Kill all the ads, defend your ghost, stand in arc pulses, and fight a tank. Then and only then will you be granted the privilege of fighting a boss that teleports.

The Season 8 Vanguard/Crucible/Gambit quests that end on Tuesday Dec 10 have MULTIPLE STEPS to them

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 04:54 AM PST

TL;DR: You may have more work ahead of you than you thought. The first step gives the first shader, second step the second shader, and third step the emblem.

Early in Season 8 I put some time into the seasonal quests that list shaders and emblems as their rewards and it seemed like I was making pretty quick progress. Satisfied that these were casually-paced pursuits, I focused on other things, planning to finish these quests off during my Thanksgiving break. But upon coming back, I realized that each quest has THREE STEPS to it, each of which gives only one of the three rewards that are listed.

Some of the objectives will roll over from one step to the next. For example, "opponents defeated" in the crucible quest doesn't reset to zero when you go to the next step.

    Here's a full breakdown:

    Season 8: Battle Drills (crucible)

    • Warming Up (Crucible Lazurite shader)
      • win 5 matches
      • reach valor rank brave
      • kill 900 guardians
    • Repetition is Key (Crucible Vermillion shader)
      • get 5 streaks of 3 or more
      • kill 2250 guardians
      • reach valor rank heroic
    • Dig Deeper (Burnished Blade emblem)
      • reach valor rank heroic
      • kill 4000 guardians
      • get 30 guardian multikills

Note: Based on my progress the guardian kills are either team-based or on some sort of point system, but I haven't found a specific discussion of that anywhere.

    Season 8: First Watch (strikes)

    • Stand Guard (Vanguard stratosphere shader)
      • defeat 30 bosses as a fireteam
      • accumulate 400,000 points in strike scoring
      • get 450 void ability or grenade kills
    • Bulwark (Vanguard Angelos shader)
      • accumulate 1,000,000 points in strike scoring
      • defeat 75 bosses as a fireteam
      • get 675 solar ability or melee kills
    • Holding the Line (Timeless Vigil emblem)
      • defeat 135 bosses as a fireteam
      • accumulate 1,800,000 points in strike scoring
      • get 900 arc ability or super kills

    Season 8: Keepin' On (gambit)

    • Still at Large (Gambit Emerald shader)
      • defeat 600 enemies as a team
      • reach infamy rank brave
      • bank 600 motes as a team
    • Survivalism (Gambit Celadon shader)
      • reach infamy rank heroic
      • defeat 1400 enemies as a team
      • defeat 150 guardians as a team
    • Stand Tall (Living Vestige emblem)
      • defeat 600 challenging Taken as a team
      • defeat 2400 enemies as a team
      • reach infamy rank fabled

Whiney conclusion: the requirements are unclear!

If you read the text of these quest steps closely, they do in fact state which single reward they offer, but that's the only indication in-game or in many API-based tools that there's more to it.

For example, the listed source for Crucible Vermillion both in-game and on sites like DIM, light.gg and destinysets is "Complete the Season 8: Battle Drills quest." But... that's a lie. You don't have to complete the entire questline, for it, you have to complete the second of three steps. Someone who is only looking at stuff in-game could easily think that the FIRST step in that quest would grant them all three rewards.

Even when I view the individual quest steps on light.gg something seems fowled up. The listing for Repetition is Key for example does link to the other two steps, but incorrectly reads "Part of the quest Repetition is Key" instead of "Part of the quest Season 8 Battle Drills". If you search light.gg for "battle drills" you come up with nothing at all. I'm not saying this is light.gg's fault! It's something about the way the quest items/objects are written in the game's API.

I understand that putting the ultimate reward for a quest on the thumbnail for each makes some kind of sense, but's not something that Bungie does all the time... often a quest step doesn't list ANY reward at all. If they're going to show later rewards it would be nice if there were some clear visual distinction between what you get for the current step and what comes later. In the vast majority of pursuits, reading the full text is not necessary... just the reward area and the checklist.

Maybe something like "Rewards: Crucible Lazurite, Next quest step" would work better?

EDIT: I briefly posted this with the wrong date in the title, so I had to delete and repost. :(

EDIT 2: Noted rollover of some objectives and team/point-based progress on crucible kills.
