I got Undying two nights ago and made it to 100 on the season pass. I liked both of the grinds, but mostly I just feel relieved to be done because I hate feeling like I'm on a deadline with these parts of the game.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 11:11 AM PST

I know the whole game size/bloat argument. I know they want the game to feel like it is changing. But I really don't like feeling like I'm on the clock and I better hurry or I will miss out.

I know a lot of players will have zoomed right on through the season pass and title grind and won't really get this feeling. And I know that this type of stuff has been in the game forever, with things like event rewards. But it feels like the cycling content might be the majority of the content for the rest of the year. And there are a lot of players like me that will not feel like they are having a good time but instead feel pressure to do only the activities they need to do to finish on time. I know I don't have to be such a completionist, but I'm a checklist kind of player. I like marking off a list.

And the cycling content also seems to be a Return On Investment problem for Bungie. Just look at Vex Offensive Final Assault. Why would Bungie pour resources into an activity that will only be around 3 weeks? Or even a full 12 week season?

I do like the feeling of the world changing. I'm hoping the final week of Season of Undying has something interesting to set up the next season. But the constant removal of the content leads to these deadlines that make me feel like I'm playing because I have to, not because I want to.

Edit: I did not go from 0-100 in two days. Sorry that was worded weird. It took me all season. I just got 100 and the Undying title two days ago.

Edit 2: thanks for all the discussion. I know I don't need the title, but doing that checklist kind of stuff is the part of the game I like the most. I loved the record books in D1. I don't mind the grind, I like it. I just wish I could have taken it at my own pace to keep myself from getting burnt out.

Bungie - why are you so damn scared to properly buff auto rifles?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 12:48 PM PST

I just want to mow EVERYTHING. I am tired of these weak ass auto rifles filling my inventory and vault. Just slide those damage values by 10% and try experimenting. I just want more experimentation next season!

    New Game mode: Gambit Strikes

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:48 AM PST

In my mind, it would almost be a race/scoring type event. Two teams are pitted against each other in side by side strike type levels. There would be evolving sections where mechanics are required to move on to the next section. Every time a section is completed a boss is sent over to the other side. Completing side objectives gives you the ability to invade the other team OR send negative modifiers like "glass", "blackout", or "match game" over. Whoever completes the strike first wins. A chest drops for both teams at the end, but the team that wins gets two chests with an extra chance at a unique drop.

    • Each boss sent over has specific loot, so both groups have chances at unique drops. This could incentivize teams to keep playing due to both having chances at unique gear even when they lose.*

    • Strike scoring can also come into play with extra rewards going to those who scored the highest.

    • Armor drops at the end of the match can be attuned to fit "jobs" in Gambit Strikes just like how Gambit Prime armor works.

    What are your thoughts?

Edit: Lots of great thoughts and ideas in here. I'm sure if we combined/adjusted a few things, it would be a very fun mode! I really liked u/Glamdring804 's idea that instead of having invading as a mechanic, the team that finishes first gets teleported over to help out the others.

Edit 2: Quite a few people dislike the gambit invading mechanics and perhaps there could be two modes, one with it on and the other with it off. I'm for either one.

Edit 3: I really like this idea from u/Sageofprofession

The other idea that came to mind would be using motes or whatever the equivalent would be to send hindrances over, whether it be something like additional adds for the boss group of something like turning on Glass or Match Game for 30 seconds.

Bungie, the reward for grinding five levels is an engram which gives me six shards. This is not a good experience.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 04:07 AM PST

From most level-up engrams I get six legendary shards:

    1. A legendary ship or sparrow (3 shards)
    2. Three shaders (1 shard apiece)

If I'm lucky, I'll get an exotic vehicle, which will give me two extra shards.

Any random legendary armour or weapon will dismantle into four shards, so you might get more value from one crucible match or a couple of public events.

Bright engrams used to mean something: now they are as forgettable and annoying as any blue thing, and get dismantled just as quickly.

Some ideas to make these relevant again:

    1. Put the new seasonal eververse items in the engram, like in seasons 1 - 6.
    2. Have the engrams only drop gifts of bright dust.
    3. Make eververse items dismantle into bright dust, like in seasons 1 - 7.
    4. Completely change it up and give us MW materials, maybe some prisms with the chance of an enhancement core ascendant shard.
    5. Hell, even those bundles of 50x each world material (from the season pass) would be worth more than six shards.

Any of these would help. Right now those engrams, like seeing someone in a Trials shader, or walking past the faction people, just remind you of better times.

I really wish I could unlock some of those exotic weapon ornaments Tess sells by using the gun

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 12:18 PM PST

And I'm not wanting every single one like that. Keep special ones in Eververse like Whisper or Outbreak. But some of the new ones released, just let me use that gun in activities and earn the ornaments by a getting a certain amount of kills. That's all.

Guardians, thank you for still playing "old" content.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 06:50 PM PST

I can't believe how many people still play Escalation Protocol and the Blind Well. Those are wonderful people. I doubt they come to this sub, they are clearly pure of heart and have a glowing halo around their head. But just in case they come here to purify...

Oh especially thanks to that dude who unloaded the Wardcliff Coil on the Taken blight and got that thing to Heroic within 30 seconds of the event. Yup, that's some old school tricks. I totally needed one more for that bounty, I don't have all the gear yet.

What if Lord Shaxx’s monitors displayed live crucible matches or cycled between recent highlights?

If you think about Izanagi's Burden from the perspective of the Lore, then current PvE meta is legit.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:22 PM PST

Golden Age weapon; designed by the most advanced weapon foundry of the Humankind; made of the most rarest materials that cannot be found in current age; and originally was created to fight the unknown, but probably most powerful enemies of the Traveler...

And instead of using weapons made by the Last City, our Guardian uses Izanagi's Burden to kill the most dangerous enemies we can meet.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 11:28 AM PST

I think this was a missed opportunity. Season 9 should have revolved around the lore of the 9 and who they are and their relation to the darkness. It only make sense right?

Bungo, PLEASE fix your quest design to not make me fight my own team

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 12:51 PM PST

The gambit quests are just....a mess. I'm grinding for the curated spare rations and I'm having to fight my own team for motes. Doesn't help that team chat is off by default so I can't communicate to them what I'm up to. When a quest becomes easier to achieve the more you're losing (banking 50 is real easy when we get drained to 0), something is wrong.

I raged left a game once my team started rolling and banked 60-70 motes without me, before I decided to rein in my behavior and not be an ass but this HAS to stop.

Now would be a good time to bring back Glass Needles

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 02:32 PM PST

Xur can sell them like he always did, and it would make a lot of people happy. We could use them to reroll the Affinity and Stats on exotics, make them like how we want them to be. Got the right affinity but crap stats? Reroll them. Got perfect stats but wrong affinity? Reroll that. I don't know how much it should cost for a stack of 5, maybe like 50+ shards? Costs 1 to reroll stats and 1 to reroll affinity.

Season of opulence was the best season of destiny 2

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:15 PM PST

Compared to Gambit prime/outbreak, forges/scourge and vex offensive, Menagerie with crown was definitely the best. That doesn't even mention the loot portion, which is my favorite loot mechanic in destiny history. I know they said it was not sustainable but here's to hoping more resources go into that so we can get something on that level.

EDIT: I even completely forgot the tribute hall, which was an awesome addition to the game!

Since armor no longer has random perks, why can't we pull it from collections?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 09:40 PM PST

It would be fantastic to be able to pull armor from collections with a base stat roll and element, just like exotics currently are. We would still possess the ability to get said armor piece in random elements with random stat rolls, but have a base stat roll available in collections in case we really like the way it looks or are having a fashion show and just can't get one to drop. I think it would be a great way to start introducing being able to pull Y2 and beyond armor from collections, since it's been a year since collections came out and we still have no method of pulling these things from collections.

Bungie, getting 1 exotic armor and 1 ascendant shard in 12 Master Ordeals doesn't make them COMMON or UNCOMMON DROPS!

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 02:45 PM PST

This is ridiculous. I almost lost the will to play. I want to masterwork an armor set and i did 12 runs for 1 shard and 1 exotic. In the same time, one of my team mates got 7 shards. So after investing the same amount of time he can masterwork a full set while i can masterwork only 1 piece. He got 6 exotics, i have 1. Again for the same work he did. This is not fair. I am tired of doing ordeals. I hate them, but it's the only stupid place i can get the shards.

Quest Design: Losing When You Win

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 06:29 PM PST

Before you read: I know this topic has been brought up before, but I really hope the final hit quests don't pop up next season. Anyways, read on if you wish.

If you're a regular around here, you have probably forced yourself through many quests that you did not personally enjoy.

    Mountaintop. Recluse. Randy's. Etc.

Many of these quests force the player to not only play PvP, but to play in a very specific way. In many cases, a given quest requires a player to get final kills with a specific archetype of weapon. While I can understand the mentality behind the design of "To get this scout rifle, you need to use a scout rifle", I don't understand the mentality of "You need to use a scout rifle and you're going to learn to hate your teammates."

It isn't enough to assist or to do a majority of the damage to an enemy guardian. No, you have to get the final hit. Because that's what marks true accomplishment, right? Nothing says engaging quest design like winning a gunfight but feeling like a loser because you got 3 assists.

    You won, but you lost.

In no other game in my life have there been quests that punish you for having competent teammates. Think about that. Any final hit based quest is made more difficult if you have solid teammates. How is that good quest design?

I returned to Destiny 2 at the beginning of Shadowkeep. I have gone through many weapon quests. When I got the quest done for Randy's, I wasn't happy. I got my final kill, bailed out of the match, turned in the quest, and didn't play again for several days. Randy's is a fantastic weapon and I main it, but the quest drained me mentally. I was frustrated and found myself asking "Who at Bungie thought this would be fun?" several times. My teams were winning, but I only felt like a winner if I got kills. I felt selfish, but the game was forcing me to feel that way if I wanted the gun.

Slightly different rant here, but bear with me: I'm halfway through getting the multi-kills for Mountaintop and I want to pull my hair out. The grenade launcher total kills and Calculated Trajectory medals? Done. I played carefully and stuck with my teams. I even pulled off some sweet Fighting Lion wall-bank shots and found myself having a good time. Now, I feel as though me completing the quest is out of my hands. I have to hope the enemy team bunches up and I have to hope my allies let me get the kills. This is out of my hands. I can do what I'm supposed to with a grenade launcher and feel like a loser. Again, how is this good quest design?

Quests should never make someone feel like a loser for winning. Period. You helped your team in a fight and hit some targets? Awesome! Here's some quest progress. That's how all quests should be. The whole "Well, you won, but you lost" mentality with design needs to stop.

Fastest Solo Pit Speedrun [12:26] & some strat explanation

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:29 PM PST

    https://youtu.be/b3xCQ3KWENk

Im really proud of this achievement and I ve been grinding it for a while!

Im going to keep running but I wanted to explain some of the strats used and what could be further time improvements.

    First Encounter

This is basicly a RNG grind, understanding of the map and where the Swordbearers spawn should be the first goal. The Knight, Shrieker and Wizard always spawn on set positions:

    • Top Symbol will always be the Knight,
    • Mid Symbol will always be the Shrieker,
    • Bot Symbol will always be the Wizard

Furthermore, you can animation cancle your attacks for both the Wizard & Knight. Here is how you do it:

    • Knight - Jump & swipe and as soon as you land jump & swipe again, you'll have to do this rapidly to get a higher attack speed then just spamming left click, sadly the Sword in Pit is the buggiest sword in the franchise and it'll often miss its mark.
    • Wizard - Have the wizards put their smokes/mists on you so that your jump height is being limited, now you want to keep jumping & rightclicking, jump as soon as you hit the ground. Incase you get unlucky and don't have any wizard smoke on you, you can just hold any of your movement keys (A, S, D, W) down, which will increase the attack speed.

    Ogre Skip

You need to get the next Objective from the Totem before you can blow yourself up to spawn at the next Checkpoint. So far we haven't found a method to make the Barrier despawn if we were to use the Joining Allies of the Encounter

    Totems

You'll need to get the timing down for ball dupes to really speed this encounter up, get the ball as soon as possible and make sure the totem doesn't wipe you.

To dupe the ball you need to switch your weapon when you are around 60-90% on the deposit interact bar, the number changes depending on your connection so find the timing!

You CAN NOT start picking up the duped ball up until you are back to first person / seeing your weapon out.

    Wizard Mace

This is the second big RNG grind, only method to speed this up is by knowing the map by heart & trying to knock the wizards of map by staggering them.

    Zulmak

Clear the Acolytes in the middle around Zulmak and get your Ball.

Make sure to ball dupe first on the wizard side, as it is the most lethal if you go there later, since thralls spawn when you deposit a ball.

Once you start DMG phase the most consistant method is to stick the boss with 2 anarchies for max tick damage and jump ontop of the Crystal with a healing gnade and Tier 8 Mobility or higher! Ontop of the Crystal you want to just empty your MT and keep your Anarchy shots sticked on the boss.

Going into the 2. Phase you want to swap to Nezerac Sin and farm kills with your recluse to get back your super for the DMG phase. The boss will have a mini dmg phase due to you duping the balls, which allows you to shoot a few extra shots on him.

Repeat for 2. DMG Phase and GG!

I hope this little Guide & the speedrun itself was enjoyable for you guys and if you have any questions go ahead and ask me here!

I finally achieved my personal goal after around 650 hours of gameplay

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:19 AM PST

After what Charlemagne claims to be around 650 hours of gameplay under my belt, and likely 550 of those hours post-Forsaken, I've finally gotten the one weapon I've been waiting for to drop

    https://i.imgur.com/mP8qfEC.png

    The Duke Mk.44

Yes, that Duke, the gun just in the normal loot pool, that can come from any source (I got mine after I experienced the pleasures a Peer to Peer connection can have in Gambit Prime). It's been a genuinely interesting look into the nature of dice rolls that aren't bad luck proofed (not that it needed to be, I'm more interested than salty). It came with a gnarly roll too; high-cal, Rangefider, Rampage and a range masterwork

What bungie really got right this season.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 02:19 PM PST

Ordeal nightfalls and solo competitive. I really appreciate the difficulty level and scaling rewards of ordeal nightfalls, matchmaking isn't useless if you are hunting exotics or enhanced perks and higher tiers give you more masterworking materials which feels great. Solo competitive has given me a reason to play crucible and challenge myself where I'm not really worried about the skill of my teammates too much but more about my personal skill, sitting at 4200 and I think that's exactly my skill level which also feels good, more rewards for sweating so hard would be appreciated though.

So thanks bungie for these two activities!

Why no Nightfall Emblem for >100k Scarlet Keep with the high score tracker?

As a nightfall enthusiast I love all the different emblems and logo mods for hitting the high scores. Why wasn't this continued this season???

Addition of Premium Currency on the Season Passes of Future Content Drops

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 06:06 PM PST

We all know Tess Everis' Store is absolutely boned. However, the addition of silver on the season pass may prove to be beneficial to guardians who want those slick ornaments they may not have been able to obtain before. As it is, players are already scraping for that oh-so-good silver like Mr. Krabs. Moreover, potentially there could be a couple gifts of a 100 silver on the Free Pass; however, on the Premium Pass there could be like 10 gifts of 100 silver. These are just ideas, but if anyone is reading this, feel free to critique this to something more reasonable. I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving!
