This week at Bungie, we give thanks.

Hello, and welcome to an oddly early TWAB entry. It's Tuesday, it's 10 in the morning, and we might have caught you off guard. This Thursday, we're celebrating Thanksgiving in the states. It's a day meant for us to reflect what we're thankful for while spending time with friends and family.

Hi, this is Seryozha (you can read it if you've read Zhalo in D1).

A Void Warlock who draws boring, mostly monochrome, pics.

My love for Destiny is based on two things:

    • An awesome mix of fantasy and sci-fi.

    • Use of Swiss graphic design traditions & attention to in-game branding (Hakke!).

I'm always searching for details which not everyone notices. I can watch at wall texture for tens of minutes, or how light draws Shrieker's shape. This inspires me.

I'm convinced that the observing, analyzing & mixing of opposite elements to create something new are the keys to an awesome result.

    Brian Moncus: The Last

    Image Linkimgur

Hi, my name is Brian Moncus or MrMoncus to some that know me by my social handles. I'm a part time freelance artist and I've been creating scribbles since I was a little kid with notebook paper and a No. 2 pencil. Currently I work digitally in Procreate on the Ipad Pro with a much more indirect approach to painting. Most of my work carries a darker vibe to it with influence from traditional charcoal work to iconic classical illustrations from artists such as Frank Frazetta. I love the Destiny universe and the stories within it, so I'm constantly finding inspiration for new works.

    Ian Pestridge: Triarchy

    Image Linkimgur

After studying Visual Art at University, I now work in the games industry as an Art Director. My inspirations are diverse but notable are Iain McCaig, Katsuhiro Otomo & Gustave Dore. Stylistically my work is tonal, I utilise colour sparingly and purposefully. Detailed work with etch-like hatching and texture along with lighting, composition and mood are key to my style. I create art that excites and challenges me in style and subject, something visually arresting. My art allows me to express my enjoyment of Destiny; my favourite aspect is how creative and supportive the community and devs are.

    Holiday Helpers

    Image Linkimgur

Even through the holiday, we keep tabs on our services to make sure things keep running. Our Player Support Team will be lively in the forums, leaving no stone unturned as we continue to investigate issues in the live game.

    This is their report.

    Google Stadia and Chrome Extensions

Last week, Destiny 2: The Collection launched on Google Stadia. Since launch, we've been closely monitoring reports for player-impacting issues on our local #Help forum. This week, we'd like to highlight an issue which can emerge when players have Chrome extensions enabled while playing Stadia in their Chrome browser.

In some cases, Stadia players have reported that Chrome extensions can interfere with keyboard inputs during Destiny 2 gameplay. If, for example, a player has a Chrome extension which uses the "R" key as a hotkey, the "R" key may be unresponsive during gameplay.

In all cases, we recommend that players remain aware of which Chrome extensions they have enabled, and be prepared to disable them in the event that they interfere with gameplay inputs. Alternatively, players can choose to rebind their keyboard inputs in their Destiny 2 Settings menu. If players encounter other general issues with their keybindings, they should restore them to their defaults and set them again.

For more information on Google Stadia, players should visit our Stadia Guide.

    Holiday Support

This Thursday and Friday, Bungie will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. Rest assured, our Bungie Network Operations Center will remain staffed to monitor services across Destiny 1, Destiny 2, and the Destiny Companion app.

In the event of a service interruption, players can receive the latest news by following @BungieHelp on Twitter or monitoring our support feed on help.bungie.net.

It's a bit of a light week, but we'll be back in just over a week with the reveal of Season of Dawn. We'll also have a patch note preview for Destiny 2 Update 2.7.0, bringing a few quality of life changes to the fold. I'm looking at you, Escalation Protocol armor.

After an obscene grind, i've finally obtained all titles in the game!

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 03:20 PM PST

    https://imgur.com/a/RP2NRTb

Hi DTG, huge personal achievement for me as i've been working towards having all (currently available titles) since they were introduced in Forsaken. Hardest titles for me were Blacksmith (Didn't get a SINGLE rare bounty to drop for 2 seasons so I was stuck at 5/6), Reckoner (Disgusting amount of gambit prime and as somebody who dislikes gambit made it all the more painful) and Unbroken was difficult as a fairly average crucible player, solely the legend rank over 3 seasons triumph stood out but with enough practise and coordination its manageable. If anybody would like any tips on certain triumphs or my thoughts on any individual titles/triumphs i'd love to discuss :))

Edit: 1672h total time played according to timewastedondestiny.

Thanks for the awards folks. Really appreciate the kind words from everybody

The lore for Destiny is phenomenal, but how it’s translated into the actual game needs improvement.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 04:21 PM PST

Seriously, reading the Unveiling lore book sent chills down my spine.

Listening to the Darkness communicate with us and try to persuade us, learning about the origins of the universe, the origins of the Vex (and how they were the original pattern), and more context on the Traveller... it's a huge step forward.

But...what did we actually get in game? Nothing, really. Just the fact that a pyramid is on the moon and we need to be prepared for the Darkness.

Not to mention, the story failed to provide any coherent explanation as to why the Vex were attracted to the pyramid or why the Darkness had such an interest in them to send us to the Black Garden.

Reveals that are that massive need to be translated into the game. Let the Darkness talk to us about the universe's origins through the pyramid, let us find out more about the Vex through cutscenes, campaign missions, etc.

TLDR — There's too much of a heavy reliance on the lore to tell the story that they are trying to tell. Putting some of these things in the actual game would be a great way for players to start connecting more with the universe.

    Titan (Moon) Raid

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 01:50 AM PST

Titan is an amazing location within Destiny, but as with most planets, there's little reason to visit. I think it would be so cool to have a Raid placed on Titan, that involves the sea creature, likely a large hive worm, other hive species, or something native to Titan. I've seen this suggested quite a few times, and so I wanted to throw out a few ideas I thought might be neat.

    • Final boss fight with "worm", in which a large room slowly fills up with water. Players must climb the environment as the water rises, whilst fighting the boss. Team will wipe if the boss is not killed before the water rises too high. This could be the sea monster visible in the vast oceans of Titan.

    • Golden Age vehicles section - anything from submarines, to vehicles that ski upon water. Perhaps dodging, skiing around and avoiding the sea monster.

    • Puzzle involving managing water through various pipes, miscalculation and errors will lead to flooding of room. Could also be the reverse, in which players must do puzzles in order to clear various rooms of water, so that you may progress on.

    • Hivedra - Hive themed hydra boss fight. Destroy a head, and two more will appear. For every head destroyed, you will gain a perk allowing you to deal additional damage, but the hydra will also deal additional damage due to new heads. End of fight will be intense, fun, fast paced, with a lot of damage coming from both sides.

    • Puzzle in which players must play "hot potato" with a small hive worm, in order to open various doors.

    • Hive boss placed within a hive infested labyrinth. Boss will chase players down throughout the labyrinth, with various passages opening and closing. Players must split up, lure the boss, and navigate the maze. But watch out, you don't want to get caught at a dead end within the living labyrinth.

    • Golden age technology puzzle, where players must configure a puzzle and set up turrets, whilst defending against vast swarms of hive and mini bosses. Similar to Halo's firefight.

    • Sloane (and perhaps Zavala) involvement in certain sections of the Raid. For example, Sloane helping you at the start of the Raid, but then herself and Zavala going a different direction. Various times you will cross paths or help each other again throughout.

    Rewards:

    • Golden age weaponry that has a chance to roll unique additional perks (more body shot damage against Hive, more damage specifically on Titan, semi-rare chance to receive a legendary shard when defeating a hive, etc)

    • Exotic Trace Rifle - which is a mounted hive worm. I mostly think the aesthetic idea is cool, and I am unsure about the perk. Perhaps it fires through monsters.

    • Exotic Hive Moth Themed SidearmS - Dual wield sidearms. Ammo is used quickly, but dish out a lot of damage, generally fun to use as opposed to best in slot. Moth wings animate as they fire.

    • Golden age armour which has a chance to roll with unique additional perks (take less [elemental type] damage from hive, gain grenade energy when taking [elemental type] damage from hive, take less damage on Titan, etc). This will NOT take from a mod slot, hopefully allowing Raid armour to retain some universal usefulness, beyond being nice aesthetically.

Edit: Thank you ever so much for gold and platinum, as well as all the positive feedback!

As older content phases out and becomes far less rewarding, the drop rates for their rare, activity-specific loot should increase.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 08:01 AM PST

Drop Rates for Raid Exotics & Raid Exotic Catalysts:

    Examples:

    • 6 months after release, drop rates increase to 10%

    • 9 months after release, drop rates increase to 20%

    • 1 year after release, drop rates increase to 30%

    • 2+ years after release, drop rates increase to 50%

    • Exception: Given its nature as a non-weapon exotic, the 'Always on Time' exotic sparrow from the 'Scourge of the Past' raid will get an additional +10% per time period. It won't break the game and it'll make the raid more rewarding.

    Why?

    • So many players are still chasing raid exotics that should've been earned awhile back. Myself, I still have yet to get the exotic weapon catalysts for Sleeper Simulant, Telesto, and Skyburner's Oath. And for general exotics, I still have yet to obtain the 'Always on Time' exotic sparrow from the 'Scourge of the Past' raid.

    • The increase in drop rates would allow people who got into Destiny late, or those who were screwed by RNG drop rates, - like myself - to move past old content and enjoy the newer, more rewarding content that Bungie produces.

    • This system will maintain the random, 'Gjallarhorn' moments by getting a rare drop when the content is new but help players that never got that moment to still be rewarded later on down the line.

Drop Rates for Curated Weapons (Existing & New):

    Examples:

    • 6 months after release, drop rates increase 15%

    • 9 months after release, drop rates increase 30%

    • 1+ year(s) after release, drop rates increase 55%, equaling up to 100% drop protection

    Why?

    • The difference between the proposed curated weapons increase and raid exotics is the stacking of drop rates. The raid exotics & catalysts above currently don't have any form of protection. Gambit weapons do. So, in theory, raid exotics will get drop protection 6 months after release, compared to Gambit Prime weapons that'll simply just get a higher drop rate percentage.

    • Curated weapons drop Enhancement Cores. Using old Raids as a source for Enhancement Cores would incentivize players hunting Cores or those exotics. It's a win-win for newer and veteran players.

Seasonal Exotics (Monte Carlo, for example):

    • 3 months after release, exotic engrams will give a 30% chance of getting an exotic you don't already have

    • 6 months after release, 50%

    • At this point Xur will probably add your missing exotics to the Fated engram loot pool

    • 9 months after release, 70%

    • 1+ years after release, 90%

    Why?

    • Players won't feel pressured to buy Xur's Fated Engram when exotics are added to his engram pool. Instead, players will have a better chance to earn it through normal gameplay.

    Conclusion:

    • As new content comes in, not only do those past activities become less rewarding (Y2 raids no longer rewarding powerful loot, for example), but the player-base for those activities diminish over time.

    • On a personal note, no one should still be chasing the Spire of Stars exotic emote or exotic weapon catalysts from the Leviathan raid lairs. Same goes for those still chasing 1K, the Always on Time sparrow, and Anarchy. Tarrabah seems fine, but as time goes on, that exotic should also get protection.

    Any feedback is welcome.

Definitive guide to Eye of Another World perks

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 08:57 AM PST

There's a lot of partial, outdated, or just plain wrong information out there about what Eye of Another World does. So... now there's this. Why? I had one drop with some OK stats and wanted to see what it was about, especially in an Armor 2.0 world.

    --

tl;dr -- It provides a diminishing 33% - 15% boost to Discipline, Strength, and Rift regen. Tier 10 cooldowns are still boosted 15%.

There are definitely smarter people than me when it comes to theorycrafting builds, so I'm not going to say whether EoAW is useful or not. But the net effect of this helmet is equivalent to more than 8 mod slots, at its best.

    --

Eye of Another World is a Y1 exotic that, according to its perk, "Highlights priority targets and improves the regeneration speed of your grenade, melee, and Rift abilities. Which doesn't really tell the whole story, because of course it doesn't.

The data below is a mix of measured and estimated data ... I wasn't going to sit and measure every cooldown for every tier. But I did measure stuff at Tiers 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, and 10 before I realized their base cooldowns were identical (per this thread). So I merged the data. It's not perfect, I didn't count frames or anything, just a stopwatch.

    --

Scenario Base Regen EoAW Regen Improvement
    Class Ability 83.75 56.62 32.39%
    Paragon x2 52.96 40.94 22.70%

    Thank you Bungie

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 04:30 AM PST

I just want to say thank you to Bungie for making Destiny. Between all the posts of what they should do and how they are screwing up, I just went to point out the positives about the product they have made:

    • The first game was launched years ago and we still have people playing that
    • The subreddit has 1M+ subs
    • It's an FPS with raids and the raids have interesting and fun mechanics where you have to work as a team (more interesting than WoW raids IMO)
    • Community puzzles that are actually difficult and require the power of the community to solve
    • Relatively balanced PvP in an RPG FPS (the only game I am aware of that has this)
    • Beautiful art direction and gorgeous environments
    • Deep lore for the world they have built

I have been playing Destiny since D1 and am not planning on stopping just yet. Yes, the story could be better at times and yes, certain activities could be more interesting (cough, vex offensivr, cough), but on the whole, this is a great game and I will happily buy more content as long as Bungie keeps making it.

As with everything, there is always room for improvement and I do sometimes wish that Bungie was quicker to "mobilize," I still have fun while playing and that's the important bit.

    Thank you Bungie.

    [ART] My Forsaken-Era Warlock

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 11:52 AM PST

This is a drawing I did a while back and posted to the Bungie Creations page, but it sometimes had problems showing up. It's the look I had most of Destiny 2 Year 2. Rocked that Iron Banner helmet, Baron Robes, and lots of Descendent Vex rust. It was a cool look, and I haven't quite figured out what my Shadowkeep look will be yet. But it'll probably involve the old Winterhart Cover from the Dawning :)

I have more process shots on my instagram page (@calebcreates) or on Twitter. if you want to check those out. See you starside, Guardians!

Bungie, if you want a good way to bring back seasonal weapons and armor from an activity that has gone, putting them into the Menagerie would be a great way to keep it relevant.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 08:44 AM PST

All Bungie has to do is replace the weapons and armor that is already there, save for the Opulence weapons and armor, because we can already get those weapons and armor from other places. Did anybody really grind for the tangled shore armor in the Menagerie, or a Trust? Bungie wants to bring back old weapons and armor, and the community wants the Menagerie to be relevant again, so this is the perfect solution.

People who cast Ward of Dawn over a Well of Radiance: Who hurt you?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 03:49 AM PST

I just don't understand why this is happening. The Warlock picks a spot in front of the Boss, casts Well of Radiance and then drops a healing rift or (even better?) an empowering rift.

People crowd the well for the healing, and then - BOOM - a giant, opaque, purple dome surrounds us. Bullets fly off the interior curvature - blood lust drives us to empty magazines at the foul beast safely on the outside of the purple shell.

Slower members of the fire-team reload and fire again, the rest of us shuffle out of the dome, trying to maintain the Well's grace and exit the benevolent purple protection. Our impetus is lost. The damage we thought to pour on this scion of evil is mitigated.

    Why, Titan? Why?

Crazy lore theory: Garden of Salvation takes place in the past, just before the events of D1.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 05:45 PM PST

Way back in Taken King, Zavala told us that the Black Garden had been welded to the surface of Mars.

Yet, in Garden of Salvation, we access it by portal, with no connection to Mars present.

We are told that the Black Garden is "adrift in time and space." It's not inconceivable that when we entered it from the Moon, we actually entered the Garden's past - before the arrival of the Heart, before we defeated it.

Why does the Darkness send us into the Black Garden? Why would it send us into the Garden's past version?

The answer is clear. We spend the entire raid imbuing Vex architecture with Light and Darkness, enhancing their understanding of it.

When the Sanctified Mind is defeated, it visually is identical to the Sol Progeny - the three Minotaurs designed to be vessels for the Darkness.

What if the Sanctified Mind actually IS the Sol Progeny? We spent the raid funnelling Light into it, creating the perfect vessel to be the bridge between the Vex and the powers that they don't understand. So when we see it in the future (in D1's campaign), it's now used as the vessel for the Heart, allowing the Vex access to insane powers.

If that's the case, the Darkness baited us into setting up the entire story of Vanilla D1. And the result of the story of D1 was the destruction of the Heart - an act which Uldren notes was designed as a tripwire, alerting the Darkness that the Traveler was waking.

So...did the Darkness bait us into the past version of the Black Garden, to destroy the Sanctified Mind and thus set up the Vex plan in D1, causing in turn the destruction of the Heart and the reawakening of the Darkness?

    Or am I just crazy?

Lost my Raid virginity and phew, what an experience.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 01:21 PM PST

50-hours in, Solo kinderguardian here. I recently took on my life's purpose to get the Bad Juju and one of the first things was to get some Leviathan gear so I could get those trophies. Not having friends who play this game was one thing but I made use of the Destiny app and set up a fireteam. Next thing I know, I have a fireteam or 5 dudes from 3 different countries guiding me through the Leviathan Raid. One guy took upon himself to sort me out with everything, every step of the way and I felt like the cutest noob of all insert baby Yoda picture here. I didn't have a mic so I nodded and crouched my way as a gesture of understanding. There was a point where I got lost and one guy shouted, "where my kid at?! Told you not to get lost in Walmart". I laughed and cried and after about 3 hours, completed the Raid.

I genuinely don't remember a time in my life where I witnessed such co-operation and carefulness while doing an activity in a video-game. It's definitely worth the grind and I believe every New Light player should experience a Raid, even if they're not social animals. I don't want to jinx it; Destiny 2 has one of the best, friendliest communities I've ever come across in an online game. Thank you all for being so supportive and amazing. I fall in love with this game deeper as the days pass.

Bungie, one thing you seemingly have not yet realized is that variety is the most important thing. If one run is all it takes to see everything, that activity will be short-lived.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 04:28 AM PST

You got close with the Menagerie, but every other activity has followed a simple formula. One without any unknown variables, so you always know exactly how they'll go after a single run.

    • Prison of Elders is always the same arenas, but we had different bosses and different rooms between runs. Everything else was predictable (DISMANTLE MINES, YES?), but it did have a little bit of variety. I'd call it a proto Menagerie.

    • Court of Oryx was always the same arena. The activity was simple, but varied in bosses. It had different Weekly bosses, and different bosses depending on the tier. I would say it was more varied than Vex Offensive, but it was horrible to get going since there was no matchmaking and it gave little more than artifacts.

    • Archon's Forge was just like Court of Oryx, but slightly less varied. It made up for its lack of variety with pure chaos... When you manage to get multiple people on the same instance. But it gave armor and weapons that made it worthwhile.

    • Reckoning is always the same arena. The only noticeable change is which boss will try to stomp you away, or which final boss we have. It only takes two runs to experience everything.

    • Vex Offensive is always the same arena and enemies. There's no noticeable changes.

    • Forges are always the same arena, enemies, and boss. There's no noticeable changes unless you always play one different forge at random. It doesn't help that you have to do so much stuff outside of the activity to actually get some of the loot you want out of it.

    • Escalation Protocol is a good example of a repeatable activity with different bosses. The biggest fault I find in it is how you always have to destroy crystals. Every. Single. Wave. Without enemies rushing you. But the armor was good, and the weapons were good. If not for them, people would want a "skip to boss" button so much more.

    • Blind Well is very repetitive. Likely the worst of the bunch. You have to defend 3 wells before facing the boss, which does not encourage dynamic gameplay unless you have the supers supers supers orb, and it also gives you no special loot.

    • Altar of Sorrow is likely the best iteration of the public event formula. It makes you stay mobile, gives you the choice of either defending the sacrifice orb or killing enemies as they spawn (No need to stay still inside a Blind Well orb!), and bosses rotate daily. It's also easy to get going. Far easier than other PE activities were. The only downside is that the bosses aren't nearly as varied as EP's were.

Even Gambit can suffer from this. The PvE side of Gambit is pretty stale, since the enemies never really surprise you. It's always just the enemy team that is problematic.

In short, a repeat of the title: If one run is all it takes to see everything, that activity will be short-lived and quickly get boring. People will run it out of necessity, not because it is fun.

    EDIT: Added more activities.

"The Machinoform" should've been the Garden of Salvation raid ship and "Four Degrees of Seperation" should've been the sparrow.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 02:35 PM PST

The ship and sparrow have the exact same design as Divinity.

It is such a missed opportunity, which seems to happen a lot. We haven't had a raid ship in Destiny 2 and look, it is right there. Fits the raid perfectly, but instead it is obtained through Eververse. Same with the sparrow. Last one we got was from Scourge of the Past....

These two should really be a reward for something in the raid, like a triumph or just a random drop. It just makes sense.

    Edit: Fixed links

Why is the Warlock melee so much worse than other classes?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 03:41 PM PST

I remember in D1 warlocks had the best melee range with about the same melee speed as the other classes. Now, Warlocks have the same melee range or worse with by far the slowest speed.

It just doesn't seem like the best balancing to me, I easily lose every double melee encounter in PvP.

I just want to know, what justifies the warlocks having the worst melee of all three classes?

Please let us choose between a weapon and armor fated exotic from xur

Could the armor that’s rewarded from Heroic Menagerie have the same stat boost as Tier III Reckoning? I’m another who loves the activity, but regularly getting armor with stats 50 or below kinda deters me from running it.

Brilliant activity, hate to see it pushed to the wayside.

Woah Bungie...! The Scarlet Swarm Shell really should have been a drop for the Dungeon.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 05:52 PM PST

I love you Bungie, been with Destiny since the beginning and I KNOW you have to make money but c'mon... please keep Eververse items unique and not obvious items that could have been used as activity rewards. I will buy from Eververse things I like but this, I cannot support. That Shell & similar Sparrow really should have been a drop.

Older nightfall weapons should be brought back with random rolls

I think having some of the really cool looking weapons like the dfa would be great to have random rolls

Have PvE enemies take damage from the architects like we do

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 12:03 PM PST

Been using tractor cannon lately just for some variety, shot a powerful knight and he just slammed into a wall and continued bombing me like nothing happened, typical, but then I put myself in his shoes, if I got knocked that hard into a wall by lets say a phalanx, well there i go

Was thinking of having it so that up to maybe the mini bosses, if i launch one of them into a wall he takes extra high damage depending on the speed he was launched at, or when sometimes you use the burning maul slam and the guy flies, let him have like a mini stun and some fall damage when he lands. Overall its just a thought to add some cool mechanics.

To the Bungie Dev that decided to have Spider sell 10k glimmer for 20 planet mats each ...
