    FAQ

    What is the Iron Banner?

    • Iron Banner is a week-long Crucible event in Destiny 2 that offers its participants unique rewards. More info can be read right over at Bungie.net

    • The game mode is an unique variant of Control - Control all three zones, and the Hunt will begin. The zones are locked down for 15 seconds, before they are reset to neutral state.

    • Unlike all other Crucible modes, Power Level matters. Meaning you will deal less and take more damage if you are below the Power Level of your opponent.

How Long does Iron Banner last?

    • Event Starts: Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to game with in the Iron Banner?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Iron Banner question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

    Seasonal Bounty

    • Each season features a seasonal quest you can pick up from Lord Saladin. After each quest step, you will be rewarded with an armor piece from the current season.

    • Progress will carry over to subsequent Iron Banners in the same season, but the quest will expire at the end of the season.

How to earn Iron Banner Tokens

    Match Completions:

    • Upon completing an Iron Banner Crucible match, players will be awarded with Iron Banner Tokens to turn in to Lord Saladin. While all Iron Banner match completions award tokens, wins award more tokens than losses.

      • Wins reward 5 Tokens.
      • Losses reward 3 Tokens.

    Weekly Bounties:

    • Players may earn additional Iron Banner Tokens by completing the Weekly Iron Banner Bounties. These can be completed on each character.

      • Weekly Bounty Reward - 50 Tokens
      • Each Weekly Bounty also rewards a piece of Pinnacle Gear.
    • There are seven different weekly bounties, of which four are available each IB. See below for a list!

    Available from Lord Saladin:

Lord Saladin oversees the Iron Banner. He appears in the tower, up the stairs to the right of the Gunsmith to bring Guardians Iron Banner based Weapons and Armor.

    Faction Rewards

Turn in 20 Tokens to get an Iron Banner engram, which contains randomly rolled weapons. After you've finished the seasonal quest, you can also receive randomly rolled armor.

    I made a Graviton Lance.

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 06:04 PM PST

I made a Graviton Lance (with lights, sound, and a rechargable battery in the clip) It was designed in Solidworks and printed on my lulzbot Taz 6. Took about 3 months to sand, prime, paint and assemble, but I started the process in February, with constant tweaks to the print settings and some serious R&D into diffusing lights in tight spaces.

Click below for more images and a video showing the sound and light effects.

At this point i would rather have expansions again over seasons

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 12:54 PM PST

Seasons are alright but having the same menagerie style activity every season is getting old, having no new vendor updates is getting old, having no new crucible updates is getting old, having no reasons to do strikes is getting old and finally relying on bounties for loot and xp is getting old.

I love Destiny but having season content drip fed to me is really boring. Hop on at reset do new thing and then what? It's such a boring way to handle content. I know Destiny 1 didnt have the best way of handling content drops but i really miss when we had an expansion and all the content dropped on the same day and we had a whole bunch of content to just sit there and enjoy. Yes there were times where Destiny 1 didn't have much to do but we had things to chase and we had trials every weekend to look forward to.

Iron Banner is more stale and unfun than Factions ever was in D2. It's time for it to take a break.

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 04:20 AM PST

In all this time since Factions has been gone, you (Bungie) must have thought up some ideas to make it more enjoyable than it originally was. Because of right now, everything regarding Iron Banner is a drag. The quest system to have the ability to turn in tokens, and more of a point as well, Iron Banner shows how bad crucible needs to be fixed/updated more. There isn't even new gear, it's just old D2 gear.

I used to enjoy Iron Banner, but give something else a try in its place.

Edit: if not any of this, then at least make a freelance Iron Banner playlist.

I want playing the activity to be emphasized just as much as doing the bounties. I want to have fun grinding strikes, and feel like significant progress is being made. I want to play the game, not the game within the game. I want to grind my way, not check the Quest Tab every 5 minutes...

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 11:55 AM PST

Whether we wanted it or not, bounties are here to stay, but Id like to point out that they are more rewarding and worthwhile than actually playing said activity.

Why play the Sundial when Timelost bounties exist? - I have played the Sundial a total of 2 times since day 1...

Why play strikes when farming bounties on the moon are better and more rewarding? - They level your season pass faster, thus more rewarding...

Why play Heroic Story Missions at all? - I love many of Destiny's story missions but there is NO incentive to replay them.

Why play Crucible, other than to do bounties or get your pinnacles/rituals and leave or even just have a good time? (which is impossible in crucible's state right now) - Honing your FPS skills is the best part, but that doesn't hold most people.

Why play gambit or gambit prime, when all you need are the bounties? - Gambit could be so much more...

    So what do I want?

    1. I want my investment in an activity to matter, I want high end materials for putting up with the grind in Crucible or Gambit.
    2. I want loot for pushing myself to be the best I can be, like High-Level Comp or Gambit Prime. Cosmetic or Otherwise.
    3. I want to have a choice to not pick up bounties and still progress at relatively the same rate, because I want to play the game with my loadout and not the one the bounties chose for me. Im not forced to play this way (as many point out) but tell me this, when was the last time you left the tower without a bounty in hand?
    4. I want that old feeling I had in D1, checking off activites, being rewarded immediately when completing the activity, instead of going to my Quest Tab and looking at a percentage on a bar...

These are just my thoughts, I may be in the minority but Idk how I can say what I mean...

EDIT: People who say the pass gear is not good is lying to themselves.

    1. Its Season of Dawn gear, so dawn mods can be put in them. Those mods are dumb good.
    2. Higher up, there is armor with 60+ stat rolls
    3. The other stuff like last season (Tons of planet mats and endgame mats)

Destiny has now been added to my list of games that have made me literally say "Holy shit!"

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 02:51 PM PST

It wasn't the first time that's happened, but today I was playing around on Mars when someone activated the escalation protocol.

I've played it before, and didn't really think much of it. It's cool, but not something I do regularly. Well, there were about 4 other guardians on the server. I don't know if any of them were in a fireteam, but they all just converged onto the tower and started fighting with me and this other guy.

Now, I had never made it past like, level 4 cuz I never really took it seriously. But seeing these guys all come to help, I started getting serious. And "Holy shit" there's a lot of hive that spawn in those upper levels of that event. I was getting really into it around level 5 where there were so many enemies, I could fire a rocket anywhere and kill something.

Well we finally made it to level 7, and that bigass ogre spawned in with 6 other minion ogres. That's when I said holy shit. And then all of them started firing and there was just purple EVERYWHERE. And I said "HOLY SHIT" again. For context, I wasn't with anyone, no one was sitting next to me, no one was in my fireteam. It was just me in my house. But it was so freaking cool to feel like I'm actually fighting a battle. Where there's dozens of enemies coming at you from all sides. And rather have a few bullet sponges as for most of the event, it was a fucking SWARM of low to mid tier enemies.

All in all, it was a ton of fun and it's one of the few times that I actually felt immersed in this game. Where I felt like a guardian and his fellow guardians taking on what seems like an unstoppable tidal wave of foes, and coming out on top. Just as we're depicted in the lore and trailers.

So good job bungie. I know some parts of the game arent perfect, and it could use some work. But gotDAMN, the parts you get right you absolutely nail. I'm real excited to see what you do in the future with this game and Destiny 3.

TL;DR Destiny 2 has some really awesome moments in between some of the general monotony.

I would take a season with zero new content if it was all sandbox and QOL updates.

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 05:26 AM PST

If you played R6 Siege, you know an entire season was called "Operation Health" where they put off new content to focus solely on QOL updates, fixing bugs, etc.

I know the demand for new content is insatiable, but hear me out. D2 really needs an operation health.

I applaud all the QOL changes in Forsaken and now Shadowkeep, but there are still many bugs in the game and the sandbox needs further tweaking. Core game modes (Strikes/Crucible/Gambit) all need major attention. I would prefer not getting another season of the current content model and instead Bungie focus only on improving the core experience of the game.

Bungie, the game is amazing, but players are going to slowly burn out; rewarding players for simply playing whatever they want is no longer a thing

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 04:33 AM PST

This has become a thing because of two factors:

    1. Seasonal weapons/armor is timegated
    2. Eververse economy got destroyed

What made Destiny 2 a really fun game even if we still had to grind for certain loot was that you could not care a lot about the grinding yet you would get rewarded for simply playing (nothing specific).

Now you have to rush everything, grind constantly and lose your will to live in order to get the seasonal stuff, which, poof, becomes almost useless the next season. This is not the way to make an MMO/RPG experience. Not with these timegates.

The current system makes players feel like they are in a hurry to get stuff done because it will disappear soon, and that is not a good system or feeling for the players to acquire. I know you guys said you wanted to make Destiny 2 a "I was there when that happened" experience, but that should be applied to now and then events, not to seasons themselves. Once again, this makes the game feel like a fast paced MMO (which is something that does not go well together) and in consequence, players will get tired.

All I want for Christmas is a timer and auto refresh of kill clip

This project has been a big learning curve for me as I've never made a gun prop before, but I'm really happy with how it's turned out! (I hope I did Cayde proud!)

This is definitely the start of making more Destiny weapons and armour sets in the future as I think I'm hooked!!

Season of Dawn feels morel like Season of Bounties

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 06:46 PM PST

With the 4 Obelisks on the EDZ, Nessus, Mars, and the Tangled Shore, you'll gain access to eight weekly bounties — two from each Obelisk.

    Thats 8 Weeklies.

With Saint-14, you get 4 Daily bounties.

The festival of Dawning has come, and with it, Eva Levante with 2 more weekly bounties, and 4 daily

Also with the Obelisks you can get the timelost weapons, which act as a renewable bounties. You can get up to 5 if I'm not wrong.

So at the start of the week, I'm slapped with

    8 Obelisk Weeklies
    4 Saint-14 Daily bounties
    2 Eva Weekly bounties
    4 Eva Daily bounties
    5 Weapon Lost Bounies

So thats 23 Seasonal bounties so far.

This week has Iron Banner so thats 4 more Bounties for 27

Then we take the non Event(crucible, strike, gambit) specific bounties so thats

    4 Werner 99-40 Weekly Bounties
    2 banshee 44 Weekly Bounties
    4 Banshee 44 Daily Bounties
4 Drifter bounties (He has 4 non gambit ones)

So that gives us a grand total of 41 bounties!

Now to choose an activity (Gambit, Strikes, Crucible) and get the appropriate bounties (another 2 weeklies and 4 dailys for a total of 47 bounties) and I can finally leave the Tower!

Please, please make the Iron Banner quest carry across characters.

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 04:07 PM PST

I manage a Titan and a hunter, and it is stupidly annoying and obnoxious to have to complete the same long quest on both characters just to be able to turn in my tokens on either character. I already dislike the quest, but I would feel a little better about it if it saved across characters.

Bungie needs to make a way to earn more than 3 ascendant shards a season as a solo player.

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 05:08 PM PST

As a solo player who struggles to find a fireteam to grind 980 nightfalls due to anxiety issues and time constraints it feels like Bungie is indirectly punishing solo players. If a solo player earns all 3 ascendant shards from the season pass every season it would 3 seasons to masterwork one set of armor including an exotic. Even a match made activity with a low drop chance is better than nothing.

There are still 14 Iron Banner weapons that were not updated for Y2. Why did we stop getting these since Shadowkeep if making new weapons (and armor) is too hard and time-consuming for the team?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 01:32 PM PST

With all the negative feedback about current IB quest and people generally feeling burnt out on the activity due to a lack of new weapons and armor, I decided to dive into the old weapons from seasons 1-3 (Vanilla, CoO, Warmind). Now, these basically became obsolete due to being stuck in Y1 system, and with the release of Forsaken, Bungie added 6 entirely new weapons to earn in IB, and then they updated 2 old weapons for each Annual Pass season: The Hero's Burden and Crimil's Dagger in Black Armory, Wizened Rebuke and Orewing's Maul in Drifter, Gunnora's Axe and Shining Sphere in Opulence.

However, this trend stopped with the release of Shadowkeep, and now two seasons in a row, we have nothing. There was supposed to be a new ritual bow in this season, but this did not materialize, and the weapon got delayed until next year. Well, what about these? If it's that hard to make a couple (or at least, ONE) new weapons every season, why not keep updating the old ones?

How is "Iron Lord" "Young Wolf" not a title yet ?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 06:36 AM PST

It just seems odd that there is no title for the iron banner when its one of the most iconic activities

How to glitch the game and still help others: A Holiday guide to giving back to fellow Guardians trying to get Rocket kills in Iron Banner...

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 09:57 AM PST

This holiday season I have decided to help out my fellow guardians trying to get rocket kills by equipping my Komodo and putting on my boots equipped for the heavy ammo glitch. Every time people kill me, they're going to get heavy ammo from me, thereby getting more ammo for the dreaded rocket quest.

*Edit* People have asked for how to do this. You must have a pair of solar legs, then you put fusion rifle scavenger in your left slot, linear fusion rifle scavenger in your right slot, remove any ammo reserves mods you have in your chest (Don't know why but it breaks the glitch), equip a linear fusion rifle in your heavy slot, and any weapon that uses special ammo in your top or middle slot. Every time you pick up a special brick, you will get one shot for your heavy linear fusion rifle. Once you have two shots, when you die, you'll drop a heavy brick.

Playing crucible you see a sunspot...

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 11:11 AM PST

Feeling risky you step into it. Does it:

    a) not affect you in any way?(friendly sunspot)

    b) buff you with the sun warrior buff?(friendly sunspot with phoenix cradle exotic)

    c) burn you to death?(enemy sunspot)

What I am trying to say here is that sunspots add a whole new level of chaos of their own to the crucible. I might be wrong but it seems there is no way to tell if a sunspot is friendly or not. There's also chaos when 2 teammates are together and one of them dies spawning a sunspot and killing the other.

This is getting ridiculous with the 980s

Bungie... are you serious here? Tree of Probibilities has 6 champions in the boss room in a confined space. I get that you want them to be difficult, but for one ascendant shard?

I have tried 3 times with a fire team from LFG and they all rage quit. Does every single one have to be so fucked?

Can next IB quest contain general objectives instead of weapon archetype kills ?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 02:09 AM PST

Tying quest objective to weapon kills of a certain archettype feels lame. It also feels like chore than fun.

Why it is isn´t 100 final blows ?

I hate scout-rifles and I will probably just give up on quest because of this.

When did the pvp commmunity become so toxic?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 06:20 PM PST

I'm getting tbagged in like 40% of the matches I play, mainly by the unbroken guys. I'm also getting a lot more hate mail than I used to which is getting kinda annoying.

I usually rock a bow + sidearm with top tree nightstalker for invisibility to counter shotguns. Is it because I'm running a scummy build?

    Play on ps4 btw

Edit: sorry for the mini rant. The hate mail from a bunch of random gamers is just getting in my nerves a little bit

Bungie more space for consumables pretty please...

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 02:28 PM PST

I know not everyone will have this problem, but as a day one D2 player I'm really sick of having to move materials in and out of my vault especially when something like the Dawning event is around.

On top of this, some of the items I hold can't be transferred to the vault even if I wanted to, so an increase to the amount of consumables we can hold would be greatly appreciated! <3

What happened with snowballs in every planet?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 05:45 AM PST

2 years (or maybe 3) ago every planet was filled of snowballs. They helped us with some bounties, slowing down some bosses and troll our friends.

But it only lasted one year, why it never returned?
