Bungie, as an exclusively Patrol player, I don't understand why I don't get pinnacle drops?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 08:00 PM PST

I know there are a dozen other things to do in the game, and that patrols are only a small portion of the overall content, but I'll be damned if I do anything else but Patrols. Why can't I get pinnacle drops for playing the way I want to play?

I happen to know that the Patrol player population is 100% accounting for anyone who has ever done a patrol ever so why are you punishing 100% of your community? I don't want to do the more difficult content and be rewarded as such. I want to just do patrols, why is that so hard to understand?

If you’re going to force elemental affinity on us and mod slots that aren’t universal, then GIVE US MORE VAULT SPACE!

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 10:36 AM PST

Dreambane armor for nightmare hunts. 3 characters at 5 pieces each x 3 affinities = 45 pieces.

Season of Dawning = another 45 pieces

That's 90/500 just in that alone. Not counting all the other different rolls people want based on intellect, discipline, strength, etc.

Stop being so goddamn stingy on vault space.

    Please. Buff. Nova. Warp.

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 07:10 PM PST

    Title.

This super had a very short reign of terror. No one could get in it's way. This super then was obliterated due to its overwhelming strength and now the only plus to this class is the hand held supernova.

The problem is this super is far too weak now. It can be one shot by almost all special weapons and and can't take much damage at all.

The quick, one tap burst is weak. It can really only kill while only next to someone. Charging it up makes you vulnerable to getting one shot.

Dodging/blinking is about the only saving grace to this super as you can quickly move out of the way.

I realize that this may be difficult to bring back into balance, but it's sad seeing something that is not even a shell of its former self go to waste. Damage dealt and taken needs to be re-evaluated. I hope void classes are next seasons point of adjusting, I just don't want warlocks to be mostly nerfed again...

    EDIT:

Thank you for the gold you beautiful, kind Guardian!!

Saint-14 has his own weapon, armour, exotic, ghost, sparrow and ship line. He's gotta be rich.

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 01:46 AM PST

He has 3 armour sets ( 1 per class. )

    Helm of Saint-14 exotic helmet.

An entire weapon line themed after him.

    Grey pigeon ship.

    His pigeon emote.

    A sparrow ( forget which. )

    a ghost.

    A headbutt finisher.

And soon his own brand of crucible probably. This guy is rollin around in a castle made of glimmer, dust and shards. No wonder the vex wanted to kill him, hes the deadliest and richest guardian alive.

Can we have Terran Wind, Death by Scorn and No Turning Back removed the world loot pool?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 01:42 PM PST

This is the same problem we've had with Vestian Dynasty, if they are going to stay at least give them random rolls please.

Reading the lore of enemy factions makes me realize how little is explained about how they work ingame.

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 06:04 AM PST

Fallen- When I first saw them, I saw them as weird bug things using scraps. From what I could tell, they were some sort of scavenger alien race. What I didn't know until reading the lore is that they were previously the Traveller's "chosen people" and that they're basically what humans would be if the Traveller had just run away during The Collapse.

Cabal- Generic army of conquerors, upon first seeing them. What I didn't know is they are a multispecies army(I thought the Psions were just skinny Cabal) that have no prior association to the fight between Light and Darkness. Every other faction is involved with the Light and Darkness somehow, except the Cabal, who had no idea what they walked into.

Vex- Generic hive mind robot army. Well, to be fair, it is true. However, it turns out that the actual Vex are the bacterial beings in the Vex milk, just piloting a robot.

Hive- When I first saw them and their terrain, I somehow thought it had something to do with infections that mind controlled people, and thrallified them. Turns out they're actually an intergalactic medieval empire based around the with a bit of eldritch horror spiced in. And the thralls are literally the Hive's babies. And that they have a friendly civil war going on within them(death is apparently love to them)

Taken- I thought of them as corrupted beings. Turns out, they are, but they aren't. Taken troops are in a state of mindnumbing pleasure, and their fears prior to be taken transform their capabilities to remove that fear.

Scorn- I saw them as a cult of evil. They are, but they're also Fallen zombies, more or less. Also, their creation(Riven granting Uldren a wish of saving a dying Fallen which became the Fanatic) is something I didn't see coming when I read the lore.

What I'm saying is, Bungie has a ton of good lore, but a terrible way of translating that to story. We could have stuff like lore tidbits while in the loading screen to read, our Ghost sometimes commenting on lore during any of the faction related activities(During Cabal Mining: Cabal have 6 words for forward and none for retreat. Time to teach them new vocabulary!). Also cutscenes that introduce lore stuff better. Enemies just feel generic when you don't know the lore behind them, and I think they should introduce it more to people who don't want to waste time reading.

Warden of Nothing has 3 strike bosses (Obelisk Weekly)

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 05:23 AM PST

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but the Warden of Nothing strike has 3 enemies that count as Strike Bosses. Use it to complete your Obelisk Weekly bounty fast if you want.

    1. The big Minotaur between the 2 train tracks
    2. The big McFatty after dismantling minessss yesssss
    3. The actual strike Boss (the flamy Servitor)

Edit: as many people suggested: if you don't insta-nuke the finally boss, it will spawn 2 more bosses. Making it so you can complete the 5 bosses in 1 strike. And yes, it does count of you launch the strike straight from the director in stead of through the strike playlist.

Expansion gear (Shadowkeep) should be compatible to each season and not tied exclusively to Undying mods

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 08:30 PM PST

If seasons are going to continue to lock their mods to the gear earned from that season then Shadowkeep gear (Dreambane set) should either change to match each season or be considered compatible to any season's mods. Right now they only utilize Nightmare mods, but would offer a great incentive to use that gear if they also could swap in and out of SoD mods and future season's mods.

As it is, even raid gear doesn't allow for the new Sundial mods (which is also a huge over sight IMO).

TowerThought - it's pretty ironic that the only area in the Tower without a landing zone is the Hangar

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 09:15 AM PST

Bungie. As A Mainly PvP'er, I Cannot Express How Frustrating It Is To Only Have One Mode A Month To Get Pinnacles, And To Have 3/5 Of Those Drop Within The Same Exact Slot...

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 11:19 AM PST

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

    Seriously Though.

There has been a lot of complaints the last few days around IB, and its horrible quest design. Leaving that part of it aside, Iron Banner is supposed to be a PvPer's chance at pinnacle gear. It's a PvP focused pinnacle mode, yet PvPers are the ones left out to dry as our light level is usually far below PvE players who enter the playlist. Then, after fighting that uphill battle to earn our few pinnacle rewards for the month there is no slot drop protection? I cannot believe that I have to wait once a month to get a chance at pinnacles, and then 3/5 of them drop in the exact same slot.

Iron Banner feels tedious, unrewarding, and a huge slap in the face toward the PvP community, when it's currently the only Pinnacle PvP mode that we have. It feels like it caters to PvE players who've received pinnacles from PvE activities, coming in at 970+, and leaves PvP focused players at a disadvantage, as we have no other way to grind out pinnacle drops outside of this once a month playlist.

I really don't understand who Iron Banner is for.

No one likes the 'play our way, not your way' quests just to turn in tokens. PvE focused players don't like PvP, but trudge through this playlist to get the pinnacles. PvP players want to play PvP, but are at an immediate power disadvantage in this mode thanks to pinnacle scarcity within PvP. The game mode is stale. The connection and matchmaking quality is horrendous. Iron Banner is a mess, and I hope it's going to be addressed in future seasons.

I Made A Lumina For A Very Special Girl

    https://imgur.com/gallery/1gGTQjM

We met about the same time we started playing Destiny, about five years ago. The game has had an important part in our lives since then. I've wanted to make this for her for a while and decided it would be a good Christmas gift.

Worked on this for about two months, learned a lot and built a good toolbox for future projects!

Not even comparable to that guys Graviton Lance, but it's a good place to start!

The pieces were printed on a few MakerBot minis at .2mm height with supports, lots of razor blades, lots of sanding, lots of filling with plastic wood and some light modeling with wood clay. Sealed, primed, painted, then details. No moving parts, but pretty delicate. A nice display piece.

It came with a nice nerdy letter about our guardians that she got to read too, but that story stays with her :)

If you have any questions about it or the process, lemme know

Current Season design means players are less likely to return after breaks

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 05:19 AM PST

    • So overall seasons are fairly cool content and good value for the cost ($10).
    • BUT the cornerstone of seasons is that when the season is over the seasonal content leaves and some of it may return one day (weapons, exotics, etc). Seasonal activity, seasonal vendors, seasonal track all gone.
    • For the first time in all of Destiny, if you leave now, there will not be more content when you come back. At best there will be an equal amount of content if you are willing to pay $10 and return with enough time to finish.
    • If you leave mid-season you will lose content you paid for which is understood up front but not a great system for players to come back. I know if I lose what I spend I'm less likely to do it next time.

What I expect is that as players leave they won't come back for the rest of the year if ever. There's low chance they adjust the season or bounty model within a season or two and the more time passes the less likely players are to come back. Previously there was a huge block of backlog you could get whenever you come back that was the carrot to bring you back.

Add to this new player experience being kind of obtuse and adding players is less likely over time.

Lower playerbase is bad for everyone. It means less players for matchmaking, less revenue and less activity. As revenue drops many games get more aggressive at microtransactions which drives more players away and a cycle continues.

Tl;Dr: if you leave now there will not be more content when you return. This means players are less likely to return if they leave. Lower playerbase is bad for all.

I think as part of this whole "Evolving World" a new tower Is in order

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 08:50 PM PST

The current tower had a sort of Charm to it right after the Red war. It felt like the start of a new base of operations but I think we need an overhaul. Story wise the problems seem to be that Its not really a tower but actually one of the lower sections of the wall. Also It would make sense that as the city recovers the guardians can build a new base with actual vanguard quarters and things not so scattered. Especially when you look out to the city and see the exact same skybox as 5 minutes after we reclaimed the city 3 years later now.

Gameplay wise The current tower is enormous and traveling through all your vendors can take a while. Theres been a lot of new vendors since D2 launched and housing them In a proper area rather than the basement would be a nice touch.

Certainly not a priority or even a complaint just a suggestion!

Does Content Truly Need to Come and Go for Us to Make I Was There Memories?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 05:35 AM PST

FOMO has been beaten to death. That isn't what this post is about. This also isn't about technical concerns with the game. Part of why the new Seasonal Content comes and goes was for us to build "I was there" moments. But is it really necessary for content to come and go for us to make "I was there" moments. Let's look at some of the great moments like this Destiny 2 has had.

    1) The Leviathan appearing in the Nessus Skybox. Probably only a few people remember this. The Leviathan was hinted at in the base game through a Cutscene and an Adventure but wasn't accessible for its first Raid until September 13th, a week after launch. When it became accessible, the massive ship entered Orbit of Nessus and you could see it in patrol. I remember seeing it suddenly, then calling all of my friends over to see it and think how cool it was.

    2) The hunt for the Javelin. This was a massive decryption hint on Mars to find the real life Javelin. I remember turning in to r/RaidSecrets hourly to see what the decryption would show.

    3) Whisper of the Worm. Honestly this was the best one for me. I was playing magic in my basement with a other one of my Clanmates and our phones explode. Two of our friends told us to go check Reddit and see what had been discovered on Io. We immediately hopped on and were confronted by a Live Event like none other. Once we got the gun we realized there was more! I remember trying to decode the Oracle myself. I then remember splitting up the members of my clan into teams of two and picking up people here, on twitter, and on lfg who thought they had no hope of getting the gun since we could essentially two man it (now it is easily solo-able with the loadout changes).

    4) Shattered Throne. I remember logging in on the 4th Reset of Forsaken to find everyone screaming at me to go to the Conflux as something was found. We formed a group of three of us with the highest light and I set up a private stream so our more casual friends could watch. It felt amazing to solve all of the mechanics on our own (they were straight forward, but nonetheless we were underleveled) and beat our head against the wall. Finding the secret Wishender Quest was amazing.

    5) Outbreak Perfected. Finding this quest was released I was like okay cool they are expanding on the Whisper Model of Exitic Delivery. Neat. But then we went to the old Tower. I was blown away. Mithrax came and guided us showing us they can do story with these too! It was amazing! And again we could 2 man it easily. So again we helped guide people or at the very least get them a gun they never thought they would have.

So what do these things have in common? They all brought the community together. They all had great loot (Ingame or IRL). They were sudden and secret to us for the most part. And (except for the Javelin) we can still take New Lights through them today, telling them all our old stories. Who is actually going to care about saying you were here for the Sundial or Vex Offensive? Maybe saving Saint-14 but that kindof requires players to know who he is or why that matters which is lost on them without playing his background missions.

    Symmetry full-auto stops firing randomly?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 05:26 AM PST

Title. I've been using it a lot, in crucible especially, and I've noticed that at random times the full-auto will just...stop. This is an issue I've encountered over and over, and my friends have as well. And I've had this issue on weapons such as Ringing Nail and Y1 Uriel's Gift.

It's only really aggravating when it happens in crucible, as it normally stops firing at the worst possible moment, causing me to lose a decent chunk of engagements where I would otherwise come out on top if I wasn't using the gun.

I play on PS4, is this a console issue or is it something else entirely?

Edit: thanks for all the comments confirming that I'm not alone in experiencing this issue and that it isn't PS4 specific. Seems like it could be an issue with the game being a bit too finicky when it comes to recognizing trigger pulls on controller. Whatever it is, I hope it's fixed soon because this weapon is really fun but I can't bring myself to use it when I'm losing my 1v1s because the gun stops shooting.

Edit 2: lots of amazing input on other people's experience as well as possible causes for the issue. It's not just this weapon and it's affecting all platforms. Personally, I'll do some testing and see if I can determine the root of it and share my experience and it sounds like a few others are going to do the same. Would be awesome if we could narrow it down and help Bungie fix the issue. Thanks everyone!

Edit 3: this post got the attention of a community manager and they have informed us that Bungie is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

Thanks to everyone for providing their input to get this issue acknowledged!

Why doesn’t Osiris offer Sundial Bounties?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 11:36 AM PST

You'd think after Bungie woefully wasted the opportunity to do something interesting with Osiris in CoO they might have attempted to have him be useful in SoD. Granted, he did introduce us to Saint 14, but could they not have created a set of daily and weekly bounties to make the seasonal activity a little more beneficial to the season pass?

    Enemy experience values

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 08:11 PM PST

I couldn't find any data regarding the experience values given by various enemies, so I decided to see what I could gather from a bit of playing and keeping track of my EXP values.

    List

It's incomplete at the moment, and I made quite a few extrapolations, but I plan on updating it as time goes on. I hope this can help somehow.

I would like to say that the designs of Trophy Hunter and Pyroclastic Flow are on point!

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 08:45 AM PST

They are so unique and I love the Cabal design of the weapons. Please don't remove them from the game, Bungie, because you have done a great job in executing the Cabal asthetic.

This entire season is all about farming god rolls and yet Bungie locks the alternative final perk behind season pass level 92 and make them unobtainable next season

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 11:46 PM PST

No shit ppl will farming bounties like crazy and get burnt out just to get to level 92 to finally play the actual game. It's like saving money for a thing u want, however it's gonna be gone when the time u can afford it if u aren't working hard enough.

FOMO sucks, there is absolute no reason to defend it from a player perspective.

Some cooler poses in the menu or the ability to customize that sorta stuff

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 02:47 PM PST

Iowa's on D1 recently and I noticed how much cooler my guardians looked in the menu. The Titan in particular had his chest puffed out and his gun raised by his shoulder looking stoic as ever and ready to drop in on an alien planet at any moment.

When I got back on D2 I found my Titan was barely able to hold up his gun, as if he couldn't be bothered lifting it. Worse than that, every two minutes he would limply attempt to flex his bicep and fail every time, as if he couldn't lift his own forearm.

This got me thinking. With the recent changes to the menu in shadowkeep adding the ghost and sparrow, I was wondering if we could get the ability to choose these things. I mean the settings menu (at least on console) has one of the ten tabs dedicated purely to having your helmet on or off. What this tab was changed to be called "Preferences" and have a couple of minor customisation things under it. An example would be something like:

    Preferences

Helmet [Off in non-combat zones] [Always on]

    Poses [Pose 1] [Pose 2] [Pose 3]

    Ghost [Show in menu] [Hide]

    Sparrow [Show in menu] [Hide]

The three poses could be previewable like an emote too. I know this isn't something the game needs and maybe it's to much work for something so small but I can't get over the fact my Titan is a weak bitch and my warlock looks like a dead corpse tied a concrete block floating at the bottom of the ocean.

I'm not gonna ask for a whole balance update, but Bungie, can you PLEASE just disable the seasonal artifact in PVP? As a Crucible main, I don't think that's too much to ask.

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 11:36 AM PST

Edit: For everyone telling me to get over it and that Destiny isn't meant for PVP, I have two things to say.

1.) I'm not asking for a completely overhaul to make PVP for competive. I'm well aware of the fact that that's not the primary focus of the game. All I'm asking for is for the artifact to be turned off, that's it.

2.) The PVP crowd that watched Trials on Twitch all the time in D1 is one of the only reasons Destiny was even able to stay relevant. Without that dedicated playerbase that indicated to the higher ups that people still cared about D1 despite it's sparse content drops and lackluster critical reception, D2 may very well have gotten a lot less funding, if anything at all. To that end, I think we deserve at least a little QoL attention.

There's already plenty of powerful builds in Crucible without the artifact being in play. PVP is plenty chaotic as it is and many of the artifact builds cough void battery cough are just cheesy. I understand that we're playing an MMORPG here, but PVP is supposed to be a place where skill outweighs gear/builds for the most part. It's supposed to be a place where I can test my reflexes and knowledge of the game against other human opponents. Making certain builds available that just completely negate that concept is really hurting my enjoyment of the game as a whole.

It's killing my motivation to log on, let alone actually play PVE to farm good PVP weapons. Like why should I even bother farming that God roll Mindbender's or go through the monotonous quest steps to even be allowed to grind for the new Jack Queen King if every Hunter I fire at is just gonna hit the good ol reset button every time if I don't OHK him? Why should I do any of the new seasonal content if all that new gear is so easily countered by something so ubiquitous?

Now if it's not apparently already, Void Battery is the main culpret here, but that's only because it's the most currently relevant issue. Last season there was that Titan melee build that was pretty busted and it's only a matter of time before they release something that breaks Warlocks too. That's why I think disabling the artifact in PVP entirely would just be better. It even frees up the dev team who works on it to get really wild with it since they won't have to worry about how it will affect PVP anymore. So yeah, just do us all a favor and listen to the feedback the hardcore PVP crowd has been giving you since October. It'd probably do a lot to help us actually believe that your have any sort of "renewed focus" on PVP like you claimed.

Bounties that make you play a set way and ignore objectives are not fun and makes me feel as though I am doing chores.

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 11:04 PM PST

    Please fix this.

Patch it before the end of this week, or at least before the season is out. I'll slog through this entire IB quest and the bounties if you want. Just, as soon as I'm done, fix it for others. It isn't too late for those that haven't started.

You really think a New Light is going to see this as enjoyable and stick around?

Maybe appealing to the money aspect will change things. One can only hope.

edit: Just played a match where both teams fought over the middle heavy spawn and put bubbles on it, no one capping zones save a couple people. This is great gameplay, 10/10, would smack myself in the forehead with a tack-hammer again.

    Planetary Vendors need a rework

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 11:00 PM PST

I feel like every time I level up my reputation it should slightly increase the quality of armor/weapons they dispense.

Right now their armor drops in the 48-51 area, but if I sink enough resources into a vendor I feel like they should award better items.

It takes about 600 mats to get a vendor to level 10, which unlocks the armor for instant purchase.

Also it would give a reason to patrol more often and help blueberries with public events. I feel like public events are one of the cooler facets to destiny and they quickly become useless. When I first started playing I was blown away by the cool supers and weapons high level players flexed in the EDZ; I don't recall the last time I even bothered with a public event.

Edit: also the vendors all sell fixed roll weapons after rank 10; could these fixed rolled y1 items just get pushed to curated rolls of those weapons(the man-o-war for Asher, scathelocke for devrim, ect.)
