    Daily Vanguard Modifiers

    Affect Strikes, Menagerie, Heroic Missions & Adventures

    • Void Singe: Void damage increases slightly from all sources.
    • Blackout: Enemy melee attacks are significantly more powerful, and radar is disabled.

    Destiny Universe Timeline - MAJOR Update (Season of Dawn)

    The Season of Dawn is upon us! A time of giving! And laughter! And... realizing we were wrong about EVERYTHING.

    Part of the nature of trying to piece together a timeline like this is that new informatiton can sometimes totally recontextualize assumptions we've made in the past. Much of the lore is vaguely written (on purpose), allowing it to be interpreted a number of ways. Add on top of that dozens of writers each adding their own flavor to a huge sprawling universe and a story that's continually expanding, and you have a recipe for madness. MADNESS, I SAY.

    Having said that, thanks to our buddy Saint-14, it seems like the turbulent swill of lore is finally starting to settle into nice goopy layers, and we're more confident in the current order of events than we've ever been. It feels like Bungie finally has a solid timeline themselves (we got our first real year - Osiris was Exiled in 294 - that hasn't been driving us crazy at all).

    So we took a long hard look at every single entry on the Timeline, leaving no stone unturned, and the big picture is looking much clearer.

    But that's not without casualties. For instance, there is now no possible way to reconcile every entry around the timing of the Ironsbane. There are two very explicit - very different - versions of when the Iron Lords met their demise, and we've had to make a choice about which one we feel is more accurately supported by the rest of the lore. Check out the footnotes of the Timeline for specifics on that one.

    This isn't quite a Timeline Two-Point-Oh, but it's definitely a step in that direction. The Dark Age and the City Age in particular look quite different than they did before. And then, you know, there's the whole breaking the timeline thing that our Guardian's been up to. THANKS FOR NOTHING, OSIRIS.

    So expect more things to change as the season goes on.

    As always, spoiler caveat: some events on the timeline have been created based on datamined audio or files that reference future questlines this season, so enter at your own risk.

    Bungie is there a reason the 20% precision buff you guys gave to linear fusion rifles couldn’t extend into Sleeper Simulant? Something as simple as this buff could’ve really put Sleeper back on the map.

    I'm not sure if you guys are aware, but sleeper is not the most competitive weapon at the moment, with weapons like: whisper, izanagi, anarchy, grenade launchers, and good rolled snipers sitting at the top. Not that sleeper is a bad weapon, but it's meant for big meaty damage and DPS, and a lot of other weapons simply just do that better.

    All my damage numbers are in reference from this spreadsheet here.

    At current, sleeper has:

    • Burst DPS: 18,067
    • Sustained DPS: 13,120
    • Total Damage: 253,188

    If it received the 20% buff like other LFR's, it would be:

    • Burst DPS: 21,680
    • Sustained DPS: 15,744
    • Total Damage: 303,826

    To put this hypothetical buff into perspective and compare it to other weapons:

    • Izanagi vs Sleeper: Sleeper would be practically tied with Izanagi for burst damage. Izanagi would still hit much harder shot for shot though: 74,780 for IB compared to 55,240 for SS. Izanagi still wins on sustained by quite a bit sitting at: 20,635 and 15,744 for SS. Sleeper wins in total damage. Also, Izanagi uses special ammo vs SS which uses heavy.
    • GL's vs Sleeper: Sleeper's sustain wouldn't be much higher than a well rolled legendary heavy grenade launcher: 14,950 for the GL and 15,744 for SS. Grenade Launchers still have more utility with better add clear, and way higher burst damage, sitting at 30,977 compared to 18,067 for SS. Sleeper will win in total damage. Also, sleeper is exotic, while it's competitor is not.
    • Whisper vs Sleeper: Whisper and Sleeper would be pretty much tied for burst damage. As for sustain, whisper takes it by quite a bit, sitting at: 21,659, with Sleeper sitting at 15,744. Whisper would still be the better option if you are consistent, while Sleeper still has it's uses for ease of use compared to whisper, along with good burst and total damage.

    As you can see with the changes, Sleeper would be sitting in a very nice spot, and would be an excellent comfort pic for a lot of players, along with still being a very viable and competitive option for everyone. It won't really be the best in anything, but it would excel in almost everything when it comes to DPS, single shot damage and total damage.

     

    I don't know if the ease of use is why Sleeper kept getting nerfs in the past or why you won't buff it now, or what the issue is, but compared to other weapons that are much easier to use like: Grenade Launchers which greatly out-perform sleeper with excellent DPS and versatility, and Xenophage (post buff) which is the definition of ease of use is now practically tied with Sleeper in everything, it makes no sense. Sleeper still requires precision, and is using up the heavy and exotic slot, it should be an viable option in the current. I mean come on.. it's friggen Sleeper Simulant, it has such an awesome history in the destiny universe and watching it just be left in the dust time and time again hurts to watch.

    Bungie, please.. reconsider buffing sleeper by the 20% that the other LFR's got. I could've mentioned this earlier, but with the buff legendary LFR's got, along with certain perk combinations (firing line), they do about the same DPS and more total damage than the exotic counterpart. I don't know how or why this is a thing, but it shouldn't be.

    Towerthought: When you die and enemies keep attacking you it’s because they’re trying to destroy your ghost.

    6 years of playing Destiny and I never noticed this.

    It could just be the AI, and probably is, but whenever you're dead and enemies are attacking your ghost it's surrounded by a little bubble of light. Almost as if the Traveler is protecting your ghost long enough for it to revive you.

    I'm no lore guy though, so this is probably old news. Either way, I thought it was cool and is now my headcannon.

    In the shadowkeep vidoc, when they talk about Season 10, 3 guardians are walking towards Rasputin, so theres a possibility. An Ikelos Scout Rifle would look nice.

    Games that you join in progress will not count for anything. I just learned the hard way. Joined very early into round 1 and killed quite a bit with my shotgun.

    Checking my progress at the end of the match and nothing had counted. If you join in progress, just be aware that the game won't count so just switch to your regular gambit stuff.

    Edit: This bug seems to apply to all quests, powerful progression and bounties, and could possibly be caused by Bungie's servers hacing hiccups.

    Edit 2: Cozmo has seen and is looking into it.

    Once we max the Obelisks, Sundial will almost reward as much as Menagerie pre-nerf.

    We get 2 Signal Strength upgrades, 1 from Tangled Shore and from the season pass. That gives us 6 frames to choose from per run.

    We get 2(3) Temporal Slipstream I, 1 from Mars and EDZ, and Rank 32. That gives us 4 rewards per run.

    Not quite the same as before, but it doesn't require you to run and waste 3 minutes refreshing the instance or balance runes. I think that is pretty cool they made a way to get somewhat back to that level of rewards.

    So I'm hanging out at my brewery when a dude in a "jade rabbit" shirt comes walking in, told him his first beer was one me because of his shirt. We looked at eachother knowingly and he said "so you are also addicted to Destiny?" Yes sir I am considering we have a beer called "Origin Story" haha. Talked briefly about the content and what he mained in game. Always good to see other people that share a passion for one of the best games ever.

    Option to disable tracker on emblems

    Recluse nerf is balanced

    Let me just congratulate Bungie on the great nerf they did on Recluse. Not everyone may agree with me, but it was needed. This nerf made it from being extremely overpowered for a kinetic, to still a great choice as long as you're consistently hitting that crit damage with Master of Arms proc'd.

    This season I'm actually comfortable using lots of other weapons in the secondary slot, like fusions and scouts like Symmetry. Recluse used to just be that good in killing literally everything on PvE that it was barely worth using anything else.

    Good job Bungie, deserves some recognition.

    I wish the Dust Rock ornament would work on Badlander. They look nearly identical.

    I've had a Badlander that I've been running since Forsaken dropped. I was pumped to see what I thought was a Badlander ornament in the shop, only to realise that it wasn't for Badlander, but for it's more popular twin. Considering the gun falls under the forsaken category of "Same as the kinetic version with a little metal bit on the front" (i.e. Go Figure v. Right Side of Wrong or Death by Scorn v. Smuggler's Run) I wish I could use it on my Badlander (lovingly named Devon the Destroyer).

    Steelfeather Repeater can have 98 bullets in a single magazine

    Behold the Bullet Hose roll: Appended Mag - Ambitious Assassin with Backup Mag. Killing 5 enemies quickly before reload grants 98 bullets with these perks. Without Backup Mag, you can have up to 83. Basically, you can double the default magazine (49) with the right perks. Equipping Backup Mag does take the total reserves down to 669, though.

    Pairing with Swashbuckler is ideal. You have ample mag size to get to 5x in nearly any add-clear situation. It's easy to keep up the damage buff with that many bullets. Or, just punch an add right off the bat and let it rip.

    Whats the point of the new titan exotic?

    i just got it to drop and all it does is a tiny explosion on melee kill

    dunemarchers chains lightning, and gives you stompees movement speed and sliding

    this is like making another OEM only with 2 seconds of tracking and no health on kill
