Focused Feedback: Season of the Undying in Review

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 11:58 PM PST

    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Season of the Undying' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Here is a list of focused feedback topics we looked at this season :

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Bungie, I paid 30$ for my solstice glows and haven’t used them once since Shadowkeep because you purposely gave them trash rolls and stats.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 09:04 AM PST

You mentioned sometime ago in a TWAB that you recognized players wanting a new way to get solstice gear but I bet you didn't give it one thought after you said that. I grinded my ass of to get all three sets for my characters, it's upsetting that it seems like you just don't care.

Edit: I'm so glad this is getting the attention it deserves. Hopefully they'll comment with a good response because they already said they passed the feedback along and they already said they were looking into it.

Edit 2: This is coming from a player who has probably purchased 120$ worth of silver and bought 6 of the seal pins, I have no problem paying for cosmetics I have a problem when I get scammed. And that's what this was, a scam.

Edit 3: Over 6k upvotes and Bungie hasn't replied once 👀 hmmmm

An Incomplete List of Everything Bugged in the Warlock Class

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 07:47 AM PST

This list is incomplete; you can help by expanding it. (I can also make other class versions if there is a demand)

    1. Uncharged Melee: breathe in ever since the launch of Destiny 2 vanilla it was flaunted that all classes have the same melee range (unlike D1, where Warlocks had a greater melee range, but less speed). Well, Bungie did deliver in evening out the range, but somehow they forgot that Warlocks still melee MUCH slower than the other two classes, resulting in a guaranteed disadvantage in melee battles against non-warlocks. Proof

      2. Electrostatic surge: from attunement of the elements, that subclass tree you forgot exists. It's a passive ability that makes your rift charge faster when allies are near. No it does not, it still takes a full agonizing 1:23 whether or not you are standing amongst your allies.

      3. Ball lightning: piggybacking off a recent poster's argument, this thing is wack. Unlike the other ranged melee abilities (i.e. mini hammer and throwing knives) ball lightning does not gain the huge benefit of the one-two punch perk. Please, all I want to do is make a guardian feel bad for casting their super in the wrong neighborhood. Winter's guile, if you ever care to use it, doesn't work with this melee ability either. I'm pretty sure the game doesn't recognise this ability as an actual melee, because it doesn't register as quest progress for melee kills either.

      4. Claws of Ahamkara: despite giving you two melee charges, it will sometimes consume both melee charges per one use. I noticed this multiple times with the chain lightning melee of top tree stormcaller.

      5. Attunement of Conduction: transcendence, the perk that states, "when cast with full grenade and melee energy, Stormtrance lasts longer and fully restores health," does not provide a legitimate health restoration, only visual.

      6. Stormcaller super: if the super attack button is preemptively held as the super is being cast, the attack will not work and cannot be used for a few seconds, despite controller/mouse input. EDIT: this also happens when a hunter dodges as it's being Palpatine zapped. In order to damage the hunter again, the attack button must be released and pressed again.

      7. Astrocyte verse: this exotic is supposed to make weapons ready more quickly upon blink, but this boost has been tested and found non-existent: proof

      8. Attunement of fission melee ability: this is the most inconsistent ability I have experienced in this game. At launch, it seemed just fine. Currently, it seems like a dice roll if you will get everything it promises (knockback + explosion) for the cost of your charge. In particular, myself and others have noticed that if you use your charged melee on someone then die, the void explosion will not trigger, but the ability will be consumed.

      9. Stormcaller melee flat out not working: to add onto the pile of problems with stormcaller, lightning melee can be consumed but will not have any effect. A fellow warlock by the name u/osiris-reflection has shared with me this video as proof.

      10. No rift glitch: there have been multiple accounts, including those from my own experience, where you press the rift button and the animation takes place but no rift is placed (charge isn't consumed). Still, it makes you very vulnerable in PvP.

      11. Various voidwalker glitches found by the community: link

      12. FPS-tied handheld supernova bug: link

      13. Bouncy scatter grenades, apparently: I've only seen this issue occur with scatter grenades, but apparently it happens to all void grenades when overcharged on top tree voidwalker. Regardless, grenades aren't detonating, but just bouncing off the ground like a bunch of grapes.

      14. REALLY inconsistent melee tracking: after a commenter has brought this to my intention, every single bad memory rushed back and hit me like a shoulder charge. If your target is crouching or accelerating at a weird angle, you can say goodbye to your melee hit, but you still have to watch the extremely slow animation take place.

      15. After activating Pheonix dive, you cannot slide for a significant period of time.

      16. Dying after throwing an arc grenade as a top tree stormcaller disables arc web capabilities.

      17. INVISIBILITY ROBES: I guess it's for the best since warlock fashion is not so hot nowadays, but it would be nice to see the lower portion of our robes.

      18. I'm getting reports that blink and sliding can share a cooldown; therefore sliding is delayed greatly after consuming blink charges.

      19. I think everyone can attest to this: ionic traces run away from you sometimes :(

      20. Several people have complained about both top and bottom tree dawnblade melee not consistently burning struck opponents.

And I'm sure I've missed a few. If there's one thing I want to come from this post, it's that Epstein didn't ki- It's Bungie's attention toward the things that have flown under the radar for so long.

Make Ikora the "Old Seasonal Weapons" Vendor? Give her a token system much like Zavala and Shaxx so you can farm old Seasonal Weapons in the new activity.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 07:02 PM PST

So sort of tied to a post I made about why locking players out of weapons to collect and use isn't a great idea in a game like Destiny, I thought of offering a cool way of giving players a small chance of obtaining weapons from old DLCs and Seasons without having to hold onto the activities you used to obtain them.

Much like how Zavala or Saladin offered Service Revolver or Wizened Rebuke after the season they were highlighted in, respectfully, you can offer a token that you receive from the current seasonal activity to turn into a vendor for engram packages that drop old seasonal weapons. It'll give players interested in the old weapons a chance to get them, albeit not as farmable as we could with the specific weapon frame farming in that current season, and it'll give players an incentive to play the current activity after they farmed for the weapons and armor they want.

Honestly the idea of locking out a whole list of weapon every 3 months sounds a little disappointing.

Honestly, the thing I'm hyped about the most for next season is the new Exotic Sidearm

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:21 AM PST

Unlike most people, I actually enjoy using Sidearms, and seeing a new Exotic one is coming out next season brings me joy, it's about damn time too, the only Exotic Sidearm we have in D2 right now is the Rat King, so after waiting almost 2 years for a new one is exciting to me.

This Day In Destiny History: Prometheus Lens runs rampant in the Crucible

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 05:54 AM PST

Two years ago, when Curse of Osiris released, one weapon was shipped in a broken state. Those lucky enough to receive it dominated the PvP scene enough to make Shaxx himself cry. All other unlucky guardians were forced to bow to the infamous Prometheus Lens exotic trace rifle. That is, until one fateful weekend...

The date was Friday, December 8th, 2017. That tentacle-faced bastard strolls into the system once more, only with something truly special. XUR WAS SELLING THE ALMIGHTY LENS! For the low low price of measly 23 legendary shards, thankful guardians cheerfully bought the deadly laser beam left and right, and for that whole weekend, Shaxx's preciously balanced Crucible was a complete trainwreck. Everybody was playing god damned laser tag. The beams were bright, the screams of guardians deafening, and the ashes blocked the sun. For 3 days this mayhem ran haywire. It was a glorious time.

But, in the end, the trace rifle was truly, deep down, broken. And what is broken must be repaired. That Tuesday following Laser Tag Weekend, the Lens and its powerful touch were no more. The Bungie Overlords corrected their mistakes, but the damage was already done. The exotic Prometheus Lens left its mark on the history of Destiny, just like Gjallarhorn and Vex Mythoclast did in the past.

RIP Prometheus Lens. You gave guardians a hell of a good time.

For those who participated in Laser Tag, wear your emblems with pride today! Show how you were a part of history.

The Season Of Dawn Reveal had almost no leaks before it and led to a great experience seeing the trailer for the first time.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 09:49 AM PST

I would just like to point out that the community had no clue what was coming in the reveal. (Sundial, Saint 14 and all the other stuff) It was great to see everything when it was supposed to come out rather than it being leaked out by third party sources.

Id just like to point that out. Have a good day! :)

    Sisters

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 12:11 PM PST

    Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/48438

The three sisters arrived on Mercury.

They searched for the Infinite Forest, and through it, a path to their people's salvation: a simulated future where they were free from the Cabal.

    Instead, they found something else.

"Small disturbances," said oldest Ozletc, the wisest. "Little currents in this timeline. Can you see them, sister?"

"I can taste them," said second-born Tazaroc, the hungriest of her sisters. "I can feel the edges."

Third-born Niruul, the quietest among them, reached her hand out to test the air. "As can I," said she. "And something else. The source is disguised. The technology is Human, but refined. Surprisingly so."

"Disable it," said Tazaroc, who was impatient. "It is leaking. I wish to see the leak."

Niruul fluttered her fingers across the sleeve of her suit. She worked for one day and one night, though the passage of time was hidden by Mercury's perpetual blinding light. All the while, she could feel the restless impatience of her sisters.

    ❖❖❖

A strange device shimmered into existence around them. They looked up the length of an enormous, golden spire.

    "It whispers," said Tazaroc.

"Then block your ears," said Ozletc. "Do you see the potential in this?"

    "Chaos," said Niruul.

"No," said Ozletc. "Opportunity. See how it tugs at the fabric of our time? Can you see the seams?"

The seams were sewn tightly shut, but a skilled hand could find them. A skilled hand could rip every stitch. All three sisters could feel it.

"It will take time to activate," said Niruul. "Someone has protected it from meddling."

"We will have time," said Ozletc. "We will open the past and change the course of Ghaul's fate. Anticipate his mistakes. Undercut his advisors."

    "Why?" said Tazaroc.

"Because he could be swayed to our purposes," said Ozletc. "He was a fool, but he could be puppeteered. Led to a more advantageous downfall."

"But why not go back further?" said Tazaroc, eager. "To dash the whelp's skull in the pit, before he crawls out onto a throne?"

"Risky," said Niruul, shaking her head. "Why not tear into the future instead, and make our attack where the Guardians cannot predict it?"

"Predictions are not their strength," said Tazaroc.

"And yet they have built this," snapped Niruul.

"Sisters," Ozletc said. "We needn't argue. This device will let us walk through future and past both. And so we will cut the most advantageous path, whatever it may be."

    ❖❖❖

For hours and days and weeks, the sisters labored over the machine. While her sisters defended her from the Vex, Niruul bent the device to their purposes and, with the force of their combined will, made it whir to life.

Around them, time split along its seams. Windows into other worlds, Mercury's true past and future, opened before them. The device stood at the center of all of it, an anchor point. And all along the fault lines of time, where the past and present and future met, Vex were ripped in half, sliced through by a knife of pure temporal energy.

They surveyed their new kingdom: a past, present, and future open to their manipulation.

"It is so clear," said Niruul, reverent. "An unobstructed glimpse into what was and what will be."

"Not the troubled ramblings of a mad thing, like the OXA," said Tazaroc.

They shared the feeling of unbounded possibility, and tasted the potential for success, and then for failure. Together, they drank the feelings in and steeled themselves against them.

"The past and future are at our fingertips, sisters," said Ozletc. "Let us see what prospects they hold."

Now that the older raids don't drop anything higher than the soft cap - can make the rewards drop every completion rather than once a week?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 05:34 PM PST

It will give me and other people a reason to play the older conent - being able to grind for certain rolls on weapons and armour as well as helping people get the exotic weapons. It may breath life back into Laviathan, EoW, Spire, Last Wish and Scourge.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 02:12 PM PST

It's such a pity that one of the BEST looking exotics IN THE GAME, for ANY class (with the ornament) has a virtually useless perk that is outclassed by several other exotics.

    Please please please can we have some kind of buff/rework to the thing? ;_;

everyone over here complaining about content droughts and game balance, and all i want is to not have to compete with my fellow guardians to get bounties and quests done in "cooperative" content

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 08:31 AM PST

something i've wanted since day 1, when you gotta get "arc ability killing blows", forcing you to play a subclass you loathe, and you realize after an hour you've gotten like only a few because your class's grenades hit weaker than paper.

can we at least maybe make the definition of a "kill" a little more generious? if i do 99% of the health of a target and somone accidentally hits it with a sparrow i think i should still get the kill

edit: some people have given some pretty good suggestions, bungie already has adopted the "progress" metric for a lot of things, having these quests be transistioned over to that model still keeps their flavor, and i support that, as i dont want to take gameplay flavor away from others - so an example would be instead of "get 25 grenade killing blows" it effectively is "get 25 grenade killing blows or get 75 kills where your grenade damaged them less than a second before they died"

This is how "kills" are counted for assist share in crucible, and i feel the same code should/would apply well here, where you get small increments of progress if you dont get the killing blow with the grenade or arc ability or whatever, but you can still do it the old way.

Im honestly frustrated at the disparity of nonsense the bounties have, you get the exact same rewards for some bounties that take literal hours to do as others that take less than 30 seconds

I dont know about you guys, but a bounty system that results in players joining strikes only to run into a lost sector abandoning their team, players refusing to play the objective in pvp competitive modes or playing to win in any capacity because they really want to do some bounty, or all 5 teamates in VO literally not touching the boss and making you have to solo every single hitpoint on it, taking over half an hour to do what should have been a quick run is pretty frustrating, i think it's more than enough time bungie take a look at the core problem and try to minimize it somewhat

The season pass ranks are actually very consumer friendly unlike other battle passes

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 05:02 AM PST

Let's just say I haven't exactly been keeping up with season of the undying every week, getting my 5 free levels, etc. I started out the week at somewhere around 42-43 and I'm currently at 90. I'm actually quite surprised how doable it was with having a full time job. Hopefully I'm on the right track to 100 before monday.

Re-playing Halo Reach and man I wish the Campaigns for Destiny were as good as some of these missions

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 03:10 PM PST

Seriously, some of the large scale wars that are on show here, I loved Reach back in the day and replaying the PC version now made me realize how much more Destiny could be doing with its story-based content, especially on the feeling of a War, the Red War campaign was great and its never really reached that height since imo

Raid idea I found: all 6 people get trapped in separate rooms and have to something in their room to trigger different things in other rooms.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 08:26 PM PST

"Imagine running down a dark, mysterious hallway. Out of no where bam trap doors open and your entire team is seperated into 6 different rooms. You have to find a way to get back to one another by completing a series of tasks. But these tasks are intertwined. Some one in one room triggers adds in another room. Killing those adds triggers a mini boss in a different room. You have to coordinate through communication to come up with optimal conditions in order to clear each room, and to find your way back to one another. If one of you fails, each room starts to wipe one by one until you all perish. UNLESS, you can stop the impending death by solving your rooms mystery; which is harder without having another guardian alive in the other room.

Will you last? Can you save your team from wiping at this crucial moment? All have died except for you, Gaurdian. The clutches that are your hands squeeze the controller harder as your sweat makes it increasingly difficult for you to grasp it. Succeed or perish. These are you options.

    You have 2 days.

The "2 days" thing is irrelevant. But all of the best stories give ultimatums so I thought I would try it."

"Does FOV affect how much you see when scoped?" Yes.

Someone in the Discord asked if the FOV setting affected how much you see through a sniper scope, was curious to test. Turns out the answer is yes.

All 3 screenshots from standing in the doorway of the tribute hall, with Revoker, 55/85/105 FOV setting (min/default/max). No other settings changed.

(also i want to know if anyone actually plays with 55, after ten seconds of jumping around with it I feel drunk...)

Don't make Artifact Mods A Problem For Crucible Again

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 10:42 AM PST

Currently, Arc Battery and to a lesser extent Thunder Coil make gun skills and gunfights completely irrelevant. If the speculated 'Void Battery' is coming next season, I'm not playing Crucible, and that's coming from someone who plays this game FOR the Crucible. Artifact Mods shouldn't impact much outside of activities with Champions IMO.

To people complaining about spending all season to hit 960, only for the cap to bump up to 970...

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 12:02 PM PST

...remember that you weren't starting at 950 this season. Sure, going from 750 to 900 didn't take that long, but it was a grind. Getting from 900 to 950 took a good deal longer, even if it still wasn't terrible. Next, a bunch of pinnacle rewards flat out weren't available until later in the season (Pit of Heresy, master level Nightmare hunts, raid challenges), and for most of the season, they only gave +1, and powerfuls were capped at 950.

On Tuesday, you're going to start at, or very near, 960. Even if you're only at 950, there's plenty of powerful rewards to push you a measly ten power, instead of a full 50. You have more sources of pinnacle rewards than you did at the beginning of October, and those pinnacle rewards are twice as powerful, giving +2 instead of +1. And, finally, something that I think a lot of people forget about, powerful drops are on level now, instead of capped to 950. This means that if you're at 960 and get, say, four 962 drops, your power goes to 961. This means that you don't need pinnacles to increase the level of your other slots.

TL;DR yes it took all season to hit 960, but you have a shorter climb to 970, more rewards and those rewards are more rewarding.

It's time for a Contraverse Holds Ornament.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 09:51 AM PST

I've been patiently sitting on the 1k silver I got from Forsaken pre-order and it will be gone the instant Contraverse gets an ornament. It has been my favorite exotic since it's release but it pains me to wear them. I don't want it to look like space trash is duct-taped to my hands anymore.

Viewing stats after a successful raid encounter

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 08:38 PM PST

I'd love to have the option to view stats after a successful raid encounter. I'm always curious about how much damage I did during the last encounter of Garden of Salvation but there doesn't appear to be any way to view it.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 01:35 PM PST

Ive been here since d1 and this season I not only completed my first raid, I got my first time completion for sotp Leviathan last wish and gos, AND I got divinity, huge thanks to my raid teams. And I've gotten the recluse Randy's and 21% so far just this season. Thank you bungie for making these rewards more available and giving me the chance to make this feel good post among all of the hate. Keep up the good work

This game has become too much.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:54 PM PST

I love playing Destiny, but I gotta say... armor 2.0, the battle pass, the artifact, the grind, the FOMO... it really is starting to feel like a second job.

I've already paid for the season pass, but I'm really thinking about taking a long break to play all the other games collecting dust on my HD.

How do you guys feel about the state of things?

Edit 1: Upon some reflection... thanks guys, my biggest gripe is the new armor system. Micromanaging armor stats for build crafting IS the 2nd job. The other things are a grind for sure, but I actually like the grind. It might just be time to clear the vault, and stop giving a fuck.

Give us a way to use any armor in our collection as an ornament.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 08:51 PM PST

I like looking fantastic, and I think a lot of other people do as well. I'd love to have a way to mix and match every style of armor until I get my "current look."

The content is already there, just give us a way to to be able to mix and match the styles we like. Give me a reason to want a blue armor drop.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 05:26 PM PST

Some of my friends have hesitated to get some of the Exotic Ornaments this season because they thought they might look bad ingame, so I made some bad decisions and decided to showcase all of them with how they look ingame for you all! Enjoy!

Edit: Thank you for the Silver stranger! <3
