These last two seasons really do make me appreciate how good forsaken and black armory were

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 06:36 PM PST

Shadowkeep and season of undying were very "meh", and season of dawn is extremely fucking boring in my opinion. The sundial feels like a discount, after-thought version of the menagerie, the ritual weapons are not very desirable, and the gameplay loop overall does not feel satisfying whatsoever. I don't remember the last time I got off for the evening and felt satisfied with my nights worth of playing. I used to look forward to getting home from work every day to play some destiny, but recently that hasn't been the case. These are just my opinions so please don't crucify me if you feel differently.

If feels like something has changed in the way bungie wants to move forward with the game, and I don't like the direction it's going in. Something feels "off".

Edit: and while I'm at it, what the hell is going on with the crucible?? Can it get a little love sometime soon? One new map a year is not good enough. Pvp players continue to get the dick season after season.

Remember when you went to Shaxx that one week and saw that he had an actually good Palindrome roll? Or when Crucible was actually rewarding? Or when "play your way" was actually pretty accurate as a statement? I miss that Bungie. Where is that Bungie?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 10:26 AM PST

I'm not a D1 vet, but I watched a lot of D1 and followed the franchise well before I got my first console and started playing. I've seen the game in the past, both in D1 and in Y1 and Y2. I'm not saying Y3 is bad, but it's pretty lackluster. After you grind to 970, there's not much to do. Sure, you might not have everything, but the way loot currently is, getting one or two of a weapon usually covers the archetype.

This isn't happening in Y3. And what's worse, these aren't special or super unique methods of retention-these are basic, core methods. And yet, Bungie doesn't do them. Hell, they borderline refuse to do some things. And that's dumb. I get that they cannot do everything. I also get that things take time to do, and not everything is top priority. But even if I gave Bungie as much slack as possible (without straight up turning a blind eye, which helps no one and hurts everyone), Bungie still hasn't done everything they really can. They've done the minimum (which, for the purpose of this post, is Forsaken). They've added more (the Y2 Season pass). They've made sweeping changes (Y3 as a whole). Yet, somehow, despite what they've done (and I'm not saying everything is bad-it might have many, many kinks, but Armor 2.0 is still better than the Y2 system), Destiny seems to have stagnated, if not degraded, in feel.

Not to mention, Bungie has all the resources. Yeah, they don't have as much money, but they still have a lot (to everyone who says Bungie needs all the money they can, they make a shit ton off of the DLC and Season passes, not to mention Eververse. They have money). They have the team (who, memes aside, are brilliant devs). They have the feedback. They even have community ideas (I'm not saying 100% of them are perfect, but the majority of them are solid enough to at least consider). Yet, nothing.

Bungie, if you're reading this, I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed. You aren't Activision-you do legitimately collect and try to send out our feedback. You do try. But at the same time, it seems like you don't notice. You see all the cries for Trials, vendor rolls, better loot systems, updates to old content, Crucible rewards, etc. And while you can't do everything, it seems as though you don't do anything. Maybe you do, I don't know. For all I know, in Season 10, we'll actually get a massive overhaul, and I'll eat my words. But even if so, the fact that the community has gone through this exact cycle so many times makes me jaded.

I wish I had some perfect answer to fix everything, or some way to hold hope for the future. And I still do. But the game, in it's current state, is average. It's playable and enjoyable, but it's not engaging or rewarding.

So, if y'all are reading this, and I'm not throwing words to the wind (and the, admittedly, salt mines of the Trostla-I mean community, no offense intended), I believe in you. I do. But I have to see it. And I cut slack, but at the end of the day, do I see it? Honestly, I don't know.

    ---------------------------

Apologies for the long wall of text, I needed that....what was that, a rant? A letter? In any case, have a nice day, Guardians. I hope your rolls are godly and your RNG not bullshit.

Removal of pinnacle weapons was a mistake

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 07:11 AM PST

I do understand that these weapons were creating issues in both PVP and PVE, but these guns were and for some of us still are a drive to go and do certain activities.

For example: Not Forgotten - introduced back in season 4, the best primary gun in pvp for a long time and it's lower range brother Luna's Howl was the main motivation for a lot of players to go and play crucible.

At first they were getting destroyed, they couldn't win a single match. But eventually they got better, they started to win and one day they got Luna's Howl.

The gun that was completely worth the time and effort. It was phenomenal gun in both PvP and PVE. I fell in love with that thing when it came to PVE. Nothing felt better than to repeatedly hit headshots on that major and defeat him much faster than with any other legendary.

Last season I went through complete hell to get to legend. And i got there, after 6 months of trying to get there. And at the end of it all, reward like no other.

Now I am not saying that pinnacle weapons should be all powerful weapons like loaded question or recluse, but they definitely could be unique like Hush or Revoker.

The thing is I don't care about ritual weapons. Randy is probably the only weapon I cared about and that is because it is actually pretty damn powerful and fun weapon.

This season though ? I got Comodo by playing crucible a little bit. Got that sidearm that was so forgettable that I don't even remember its name, and the shotgun is just a variation on existing 12P shotties we already have.

They are not memorable, they are not powerful, they are not unique, and I will most likely just get them by playing. The chase is gone. Sole reason for some people to go play certain activities is gone. And it all comes down to one thing: loot

The loot in these activities is so forgettable that even one good weapon or piece of armor would make me go and play it more. But as far as I am concerned strikes or gambit just doesn't have anything to offer..and if I haven't switched to PC, I would lost my interest in crucible as well.

    TLDR;

Maybe the pinnacles are not the answers to this issue, but they sure were a really solid bandage for a wound(loot) that existed in almost entire existence of D2.

If anything, the Wish Ender bug has shown us how good bows could be

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 09:08 AM PST

Since it was confirmed that Wish Ender is getting nerf- sorry, fixed, next week I'd like to remind devs that Wish Ender showed how good bows could be. While the damage Wish Ender while bugged does is way too much for a primary weapon, there could be other ways to make bows feel good in both PvE and PvP.

There are plenty of ways to do that. Here some ideas, any one or a combination of some would be a great deal to us, archers (aka Hanzo mains):

    1. Add special ammo bow to challenge snipers and maybe deal enough damage to be useful in high tier PvE activities. Wish Ender bug has shown us how good it could be.
    2. Reduce draw speed for bows all across the board or increase draw speed for bows but reduce reload speed so we have to use reload buffs or mods to get the most use out of it.
    3. Remove draw speed cap which is at 540.
    4. Buff lightweight frame bows to be on par with precision frame bows instead of having barely 0.036s faster draw speed but significantly lower damage and accuracy.
    5. Rework and add some unique bow perks. I'd love myself some ricochet arrows. Also, remove some useless perks from Spiteful Fang. Like for example rangefinder does nothing for bows but zoom in.
    6. Lower or remove the sound bows make when you draw the bowstring. They're cold weapons, they should be silent instead of alarming the entire enemy team where you are.
    7. Replace Hush's opening shot perk to hipfire grip perk. This point has caused some confusion before so please take a look at these screenshots and compare their retices: https://imgur.com/a/mksblca. One is Subtle Calamity with hipfire grip perk and freehand mod, the other is Hush with freehand mod and opening shot active. As you can see Subtle Calamity has tighter retice, which means its accuracy is better than Hush already. And when Hush opening shot goes on cooldown the retice becomes even wider. Meaning a loss of accuracy on follow-up shots other than the first.
    8. Exotic bows are losing out a lot of utility vs legendary bows that can be slotted with something like Quick Access Sling or Icarus Grip mods.
    9. Exotic bow catalysts. Where are they?
    10. Leviathan's Breath is now getting outclassed by a primary sidearm (Devil's Ruin). And is quite lackluster for a power weapon in general. Could certainly use a buff.
    11. Give No Turning Back bow random rolls. Currently we only have one legendary kinetic precision frame bow that can have random rolls and it only drops in a raid. No bueno.

That's just a few suggestions how bows can be balanced. Obviously not everything should be added, as that would be too much. But Just one or 2 would be already big. Don't sleep on this opportunity to add easy and interesting content, Bungie.

A google search for "Destiny Sunbreaker thermal vent bug" brings up dozens of bug reports over the last 5 years for a bug that still hasn't been fixed in D2 - will this ever get fixed Bungie?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 03:40 AM PST

The bottom tree Sunbreaker melee ability in D2, Mortar Blast, was a perk called Thermal Vents in D1 for Sunbreakers, and it had exactly the same bug the ability still has to this day in D2:

Like half the time when you use the charged melee ability, it does absolutely zero damage (not even normal uncharged melee damage), uses up your melee charge, and only applies the very low aoe burn.

Here's a post on the Bungie forums way back from 2015 describing this bug back in D1: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/154564476

And here are google search results with multiple posts from every year from 2015 till today on reddit and the bungie forums about this bug: https://www.google.com/search?q=destiny+sunbreaker+thermal+vent+bug

Here's a youtube clip from 2016 showcasing the bug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY23EmczivM

How is it that player-beneficial bugs get fixed within months or even weeks, yet bugs that are a disadvantage to players often don't get fixed for multiple years, and in this case not even between full game releases?

Bungie, if you’re going to remove season content and weapons, at least put the weapons in the Menagerie

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 08:53 AM PST

The Menagerie would be a perfect place for season weapons to go to after their seasonal has been removed.

For example, the Vex Offensive weapons Adhordative, Optative, Subjunctive and Imperative would be perfect as there is no other way to currently earn them.

    Resilience has been stealth changed

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 05:54 AM PST

https://clips.twitch.tv/EnjoyablePrettyScorpionRitzMitz <-- here you can see how you can't survive a 2 crit 1 body against Thorn with tier 5 res anymore.

Apparently Bungie has changed some of the levels of res without mentioning it in the patch notes, effectively making me waste seven ascendant shards in my pvp gear because I wanted to reach 50 res as well as 100 recovery. Now, after grinding 980 nightfalls and grabbing gear for a very long time, the one weapon I wanted to counter still kills me all the same. Sigh.

Here: https://youtu.be/RGN5E4pMwMQ?t=225 (dating from november) you can see that res at tier 5 gave a 6% shield hp increase, whereas now it gives a 5% increase. Here: https://ibb.co/7RPdb6X you can see an image of my character loadout screen and it clearly shows that at tier 5 now you get a 5% increase.

Bungie, before shifting the whole PvP meta without a word or explanation you could've told us first so we could plan our loadouts first with a bit of a margin. Armor 2.0 is extremely grindy and farming gear and shards for just one type of loadout (pulse + shotgun) took me an insane amount of time, and now it's all for nothing. Also: if this was intentional, why nerf res? It should give more benefits per level to be more appealing. If you nerf the level that had importance in the meta (countering Thorn) to tier 6 instead, you're making it so even less people bother to get res to that level as it demands gear with unrealistically high stats!

Stat bonuses should scale to 100, instead of giving bonuses every 10 stats.

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 08:29 PM PST

    Title.

Sucks so hard when you have 89 or 49 in a stat and to get to the next tier you have to slot an entire mod worth 3-5 points, just so you can get 99 or 59. Instead of giving the benefits every 10 stats why not just have it scale from 0 all the way to 100, it'd make fine tuning builds a lot easier.

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 02:23 PM PST

The Thorn threshold did in fact require 6/60 resilience upon release(video proof inside), and it surviving recently at 50 is a bug as Cozmo stated.

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 07:30 PM PST

Cool guy's recent videos have been tossed around a lot lately, please see his original review here: https://youtu.be/VAWWm4LKjAc?t=284

    Playbook post: https://www.reddit.com/r/CruciblePlaybook/comments/b0e6vb/thorn_damage_numbers_are_in_2h1b_stock/

Bungie took a lot of heat over this one, and I think its important to correct the record. Could they have done a better job with patch notes? Definitely.

Has the resilience threshold always been 5? Definitely not.

Edit: another video that clearly demonstrates 5 resilience did not survive 2 crit/1 body here https://youtu.be/fwWsrwzHzt8?t=610

As a vet, this season is not bad but it is boring. It feels like any other generic shooter that I can play with my brain shut off.

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 03:32 AM PST

Yes the content is fun for new players and the more casual ones, the weapons are cool, the sundial as an activity is fine and to be fair, it is among the best story/mission we have had since forsaken.

But I think as a long term fan, it boils down to having nothing to prepare for. In previous season we almost always had a raid (or at least at the time a somewhat challenging activity in SotD with T3 reckoning to then get the gear to rune gambit prime, which I happened to like at the time), your light level, getting appropriate gears... mattered.

Right now, I feel like I am playing warframe, where you grind stuff just for the sake of it. The new mods are cool, armor 2.0, despite the annoying affinity, is pretty cool. Masterworking your gear and unlocking your artifact lets you make some pretty awesome builds. But what's the point? It's completely overkill for 100% of the current content and we have literally zero challenge to prepare for and to use it in.

I have personally never been out of the game so fast within a season. And no, I don't attribute that to burnout, I still very much like the gameplay and pretty much always take a break two months in a season, but IMO there is a serious lack of endgame content. Since warmind, it was not just having more things to do, but a very nice rhythm of cycling between two activities, both completing each other very nicely, and i think having only one is killing the flow and makes the game feels like any other generic shooters that I can play solo with my brain shut off.

Broodhold, Festering Core, and Scarlet Keep should not be in the normal Nightfall rotation.

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 03:54 PM PST

Title. These strikes offer no Nightfall exclusive reward, nor a Nightfall Emblem. There is no point in farming them, or going for a high score. There's more reason for them to NOT be in rotation than there is FOR them to be. They're taking up a slot when they're in the rotation that could be filled by something like Warden of Nothing, which I haven't seen for almost a month now.

Sincerely, a guy who still wants a Feeding Frenzy Rampage Warden's Law.

Took 10 hours 23 minutes but dammit i got my divinity

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 09:14 AM PST

Just a random lfg story from last night unto this morning. Saw an lfg post from a sherpa offering a divinity run with teaching. I had yet to even beat the raid so this sounded awesome.

Raid began and the sherpa was amazing. Crew of 6 comprised 1 who had never done any of it, 1 who had got to the 3rd encounter, me who had been to the boss but never bested it, 2 who had beat it but not got divinity and himself.

Everyone was super respectful and it took about 4 hours but we got to the boss codes unlocked. Thats when things started to fall apart.

We got it down to the 3rd phase and low enough to kill him but in the middle of it our sherpa poof disappears. We wait but no response nothing. So we decide we have got this far lets do it. 4 hours pass of lfg comings and goings in the end only 3 of us originals remain.

Refusing to give up we decide to lfg again a new crew and start over only to get a message from our sherpa. Apologizing and saying his power in his neighborhood went out and asking how it went. Finding out we were still going at it 8 hours into it all and 4 hours since we had seen him he immediately threw on his sherpa pants and jumped back in with us.

He found 2 new crew and we set at it and at a grand total of 10 hours 23 minutes we fucking did it and divinity was in hand.

Joy resounded. It was rough but i made 3 great new friends today. Just goes to show sometimes lfg can be a weird wonderful experience so dont be afraid to try it.

Maybe dont go as crazy as we did though and sleep deprive yourself...

Helpful tip! If you shoot at the Minotaurs at the end of the nightfall before Kargan destroys them, you get the points when he kills them

Also you can get 100k at 920 this way

Bungie, can a future season include some forward progression for the npcs from the base game planets?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 03:42 PM PST

Devrim, Sloane, failsafe and Asher have all been mostly stagnant in their stories since year 1. Can they get some action to let them shine and flesh them out a bit sometime in the future? Titan itself could use a new fresh experience since the main areas are pretty tiny compared to the other play areas.

The Sundial could be a great opportunity for hunters to get Psion Flayer Mantles

Titans and Warlocks could get cool holographic Marks and Bonds too.

If we ever fight Savathûn, I would absolutely love for it to be in a complicated raid.

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 05:27 AM PST

    Ok hear me out.

So you know how Last Wish is arguably the most complicated raid so far in terms of mechanics (with vault and riven having taken over 7 hours each to complete legit)? You know how Savathûn is supposedly an incredibly smart being whose intelligence is basically infinite?
I (being the avid raider I am who loves complicated encounters) personally think that it would be fitting to finally fight/kill the legendary Savathûn in a raid that, like vault, is incredibly complicated to figure out but quite easy once you know the mechanics, while also giving an incredibly rewarding feeling when beaten.
I'm not saying that the whole raid has to be complicated, just around 1-3 encounters. Due to the likelihood of it being a taken raid (if it were to exist), it would obviously be a big raid, like the other two taken raids, which both have 6 encounters (kf: Court, totem, Warpriest, Golgeroth, deathsingers and Oryx and lw: Kalli, Shuro Chi, Morgeth, Vault, Riven, Queenswalk).

Obviously a 6 encounter raid with 1-3 complicated encounters could put a bit of a strain on the teams working on it, and could (if complicated enough) negate any chance of a day 1 completion (which arguably almost happened with lw with only two teams completing it day 1), it would not only bring out the brains in all of us (even the crayon eaters), but would open up HUGE opportunities for the lore team to flex their muscles. This, like with every raid, would bring in a flurry of fan-made challenges like completing it flawless with as little people as possible, completing it with the wheel of misfortune, speedruns, etc.

Raiding is a big part of Destiny's PvE endgame, and is one of the main reasons I and many others play the games and complicated puzzles (like D1 outbreak and Niobe Labs) help bring the community together.

I'm not speaking for everyone when I say this is something we want, just for me and maybe a few others. Feel free to tell me otherwise.

    Unrewarding Feeling in Destiny 2

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 08:07 AM PST

Was running some strikes last night for about 1 hr 30 mins or so when it hit me towards the end...I just spent all that time and kept literally nothing from my play session.

    Blues, dismantled

Purple weapons, all trash and dismantled

Purple armor, even bigger trash and dismantled

Got tokens but guess what, no new loot to try and chase for close to a year?

This is the biggest problem with Destiny IMO right now. What is the reason to play? Don't really have a major point here..just that the game feels unrewarding right now. Especially strikes.

We need a season of Fixes

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 09:03 PM PST

Something like the April update. There's a bunch of little things wrong with the game and I wouldn't be opposed to a season of just reworking exotics and fixing bugs.

    Optimized Bounties for 1/10/2020

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 10:20 AM PST

(Forgot to flair the first one, and it vanished. Doh!)

It's time once again for the Quilted XP Picker Upper - Bounties! No elemental requirements, and no weapon requirements - you can clear all of these with just a small slice of gameplay from several different modes. Think of it like a tray of hors d'oeuvres. Some Patrols wrapped in bacon; a little Crucible caviar; a few Strike sushi rolls; some Gambit... uh... truffles? Let's go with truffles.

Step 1 – Don't post links to the Cowboy Bebop Bounty Hunter show "Big Shot" as a joke.

Step 2 – Pick up the following bounties. Make sure you pick up Spider's last, as we're starting on the Tangled Shore today!

    • Saint XIV – Rank and File - Kill 50 Cabal
    • Saint XIV - Personal Space - Defeat 15 Enemies With Melee Abilities
    • Eva – Big Finish - Kill 5 Enemies With Finishers
    • Eva - Festive Touch - Kill 20 Enemies With Melee Attacks
    • Eva - Take 'Em Out - Kill 100 Taken
    • Zavala – Horsehoes and Hand Grenades - Defeat 20 Enemies With Grenades
    • Zavala - One Shot, One Kill - Defeat 25 Enemies With Precision Damage
    • Zavala - From Downtown - 2 Multikills With Supers
    • Zavala - Defeat 5 Enemies With Finishers in Strikes
    • Shaxx – By the Code - Defeat 10 Opponents
    • Shaxx - Lightbearer - Defeat 3 Enemies With Abilities
    • Shaxx - Into the Light - Defeat 1 Enemy With Your Super
    • Drifter – Fistful of Motes - Bank 25 Motes
    • Drifter - Not Your Mama's Combat Drill - Defeat 50 Enemies
    • Drifter - Evoy While It Lasts - Kill 2 Primeval Envoys
    • Spider - The Great Equalizer - Kill 35 Fallen in Thieves Landing
    • Spider - Patrol the Shore - Complete 3 Patrols on Tangled Shore
    • Spider - Lost on the Edge - Complete the Shipyard AWO-43 Lost Sector

Step 3 – Make sure the following Weeklies are in your inventory, because the above Dailies will contribute to them:

    • Eva – Sweet Gifts – Bake 50 Cookies
    • Eva – The Spirit of Giving – Deliver 25 Cookies
    • Zavala – Stop the Ritual – 3 Strikes, 1 Hive Boss
    • Shaxx – Combat Drill – Play 5 Games (fewer if you do well)
    • Shaxx – Step Into the Light – Play 5 Games (fewer if you do well)
    • Obelisk Weekly – Steal the Show - 300 Cabal Kills, 10 Cabal Finishers
    • Obelisk Weekly – Lost to Time – Clear 5 Lost Sectors
    • Obelisk Weekly – No Time to Lose - Kinetic Multikills
    • Obelisk Weekly - I Forgot The Name - 9 Patrols
    • Banshee – Field Calibration – Kill Stuff in Matchmade Strikes/Crucible/Gambit
    • Drifter – On the Grind – Defeat Enemies, Guardians, Bank Motes
    • Drifter – Might of the Traveler – Cast Supers, Create Orbs

Step 4 – Follow these steps:

    • On the Tangled Shore in Thieves Landing, complete the "Kill Stuff" Patrol and the two "Collect Stuff" Patrols. This should net you about 35 Fallen kills as well. (5 mins) If it doesn't, kill a few more. :P If you don't see the above Patrols available, grab one of the others then immediately abandon it. That will remove it from the rotation and make one of the others available.
    • Run the Shipyard AWO-43 Lost Sector (Jetsam of Saturn). (5 mins)
    • The three Patrols will net you 3 Ghost Shell fragments; however, we're holding on to them until a Planetary Vendor has a good set of bounties that line up with a Wanted Bounty. This will show up later this week, hopefully.
    • Run a Strike with 50 Cabal (Arms Dealer, Insight Terminus, Tree of Probabilities). (15 mins)
    • Run a Strike with 100 Taken (The Corrupted, Festering Core, Lake of Shadows). (10-15 mins)
    • Play 1 Crucible match. (10 mins)
    • Play either one Vanilla Gambit Match (uuuuugh) or one-to-two Gambit Prime matches (Envoy It While It Lasts only works in Vanilla, so Prime only gets two bounties). (10-20 mins)
    • Use your Dawning Essence to complete 4-5 Cookie Delivery bounties. (10 mins)

    Total Non-Elemental Non-Weapon-Specific Bounties Completed: 21-22

Total Time Spent: 1 hour 15 minutes, give or take.

Note 1: Weeklies are taking up a big unwieldy chunk of these posts, so when they roll over next Tuesday, I'm only going to list them on the Tuesday post. You should be picking them up at the beginning of the week and just letting them sit there anyway; the general weeklies will progress with general dailies. This change should help declutter these posts a bit.

Note 2: I opted not to go with Lost Sectors for Cabal and Taken because there's no Lost Sector with 50 Cabal (What?! WHY?!), so you'd have to do 2, and you'd also have to do 2 in Dreaming City for Taken, and DC bounties don't offer XP so there's no doubling up there. Strikes help you work towards your Zavala Weekly, and give you more enemies to work with for Grenade/Melee kill bounties as well.

Note 3: As usual, element/weapon bounties are available at Saint, Eva, and Banshee. Grab only what you like!

Heat rises causes enemy AI to bug out (Or: Yet Another Warlock Bug)

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 10:54 AM PST

Sorry Bungie, but the glitches can't stop and won't stop.

Using up your grenade on top tree Dawnblade gives you the buff Heat rises. What this buff normally does is give you extended glide time and improved in-air accuracy. However, it seems it forgets to mention that while it is active, you essentially break the enemies AI.

Losing the buff will cause the bug to stop functioning as expected, and shooting your gun or using any sort of ability will cause the bug to stop working for a second or two. Once you stop it seems that enemies will blindly try to shoot where you were last seen firing your gun/using an ability.

Proof can be found here. I used sunbracers purely to activate Heat rises more easily, it is not needed to utilize this glitch.

This also works for melee based enemies like thrall. The results are pretty funny.
