    Hello Guardians,

    Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

    We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

    This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

    Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Bounties & EXP Sources' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

    Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome. Here are some sample questions :

    • What is your general feedback on bounties and sources of experience in the game?
    • Do you feel like it is problematic to be required to fly to many different destinations to acquire bounties (obelisks, tower, tribute hall, planetary vendors, etc...)? Should it be possible to acquire all bounties from the director (like eververse?)
    • Is the limit to the number of bounties that you can carry at one time problematic for you as a player?
    • Do you feel like certain bounties are too difficult in comparison to the reward they offer? Which ones and why? How should these be adjusted?
    • Do you feel like the amount of experience granted by certain core activities is too low to make them worth doing? Which core activities should have their amount of experience increased and why?

    • What are your thoughts on the "fireteam exp boosts" that come from the seasonal artifact? Should these also apply to solo players? Should they work everywhere (including orbit and the tower)? Currently these only work on destinations within fireteams.

    Things that shouldnt be in the Season Pass

    14,000 Glimmer

    • Something we get from literally everything we do. Why is this a level up reward?

    25 Shards

    • Good amount of shards, but this is one of the easiest currencies to obtain

    LEGENDARY ENGRAM

    • This one is a mega WTF. We literally get dozens of these through regular gameplay. Why would a level up give one of these too?

    Raid Banners

    • Look, we already get glimmer and shards from the pass. If we wanted raid banners we buy these ourselves. This isnt even something that RNG drops, it's a guarantee if we want it we get it.

    We all can use more of:

    • Ascendant Shards. Way too rare especially for PvP players. Design now forces us to run 980 Ordeals which is more of the same old strikes
    • Enhancement Prisms. Same as above
    • Bright Dust. Enough said
    • Cosmetics. Last season we got a ship. This season we get a ghost sell. Too much to ask for a ship, sparrow and shell all in the same pass?
    • More EV Engrams. With what we used to get before which contained NEW stuff, along with current seasons only having old stuff and excessive amounts of repeat items, no reason not to give more of these to actually get things we dont have

    I opened 84 bright engrams so far in this season and this are the results. Repeats are awful and removes the enjoyment of the game. Please Bungie, do something. All I wanted was the Monochromatic Shader and it seems impossible to get.

    Edit 2: Just want to say that this search is finally over. After about 70 strikes, with vanguard boons each strike, I finally got my monochromatic!     Edit: So, as people pointed out, I may have messed up with the emotes and projections. So, I have edited my table (and added a few more that I opened since). The repeated percentage is still awful for shaders, which is my biggest complaint. I hope you can understand and thank you very much for those that politely pointed this out. My objective here was never to misinform anyone. Sorry for that.

    Every year since the Dawning was released, it was my favorite event for a few reasons. The music, the ambiance, and the gear. Hell, even the baking was great to find the recipes.

    Though, very specifically, the gear was the best part. As a Warlock, we don't get many great outfits, but the Dawning was always amazing.... Until this year... When there was no quest to obtain the armor. Instead, it was locked behind Eververse. I've not paid for silver since it was introduced, she needless to say it was a huge disappointment.

    Second, the weekly missions were WAY to much for WAY too little. 50 gifts made (600 total ingredients) for a little bit of XP and dust is very unmotivating. The only way to really get that is too sit in the Crucible for days so you can eventually be able to do something else.

    Hoping for a much better Dawning in 2020. This was not a win in my book.

    With the relevancy of the time-gated content discussions, I wanted to quote some old posts about the subject. Most of these are from a thread about needing to grind too much light level for Black Armory content. On a personal note, I've also started to feel like that I need to play the game, or else I'll miss out on content. I still have fun playing Destiny, but I'd be lying if I said that I don't miss playing other games.

    Now, I'm not saying that the direction is bad. Quite the opposite, in fact—for many players, this is exactly what the game needed. The day-to-day grind, the game as their hobby, is really pretty impressive. Sure, it's not perfect, but overall, the steps taken in Forsaken pushed the game in a great direction for those people. But for me, it was exactly the worst thing that could have happened.

    I remember in D1, seeing people complaining that there wasn't enough to do in the game, and my response quickly became, "People need to know that it's okay to play other games that Destiny." Those times with nothing major to do were great for catching up on other games—it's when I played Breath of the Wild, Assassin's Creed Origins, and Dragon Age Inquisition. That's still my mantra, and I think gets at the heart of what I think the issue is with the direction that the game is heading—the grind above all else. I have had a major list of other games that I want/need to hop into, but have put off simply because I had to focus on keeping up with Destiny 2—Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Spider Man, God of War, possibly Red Dead 2... and there are older titles like The Witcher 3 that I havn't gotten to either. In the end, it really felt like I was having to choose between either playing Destiny 2 exclusively in order to even stay relevant in the game, or play the increasing backlog of games that I have piling up.

    The departure from story as the main focus of the gameplay arc was also big deal for me, personally. I play games because the world, the story, the characters really pull me into something bigger than myself, and a lot of the time, Destiny has had that, especially with the main story of Forsaken. However, that story has stagnated for me. Sure, there are a few little things here and there, but when we get a whole expansion that really doesn't add a lot to the continuing story—only one real cutscene, no major twists or progression from what we've had for going on 4 months now—it was a big punch in the gut for me.

    We all remember how the Undying Mind went last season. This season is a lot better in the story aspect and the seasonal title is a lot easier to get as well. But that does not change the fact all Saint-14 related content is most likely time-gated. The character might stick around but I doubt the missions will.

    I've been feeling a lot of the same things here since Black Armory dropped. I feel like, with the rotating curse weeks in the Dreaming City, it makes it like you have a timed event every week. Gotta get in there, do the missions, see if this is the week the dialog changes to have some clue on how to stop the time loop. Oops, you're busy full curse week? Well, better hop on YouTube to see what happened with the Queen's Throne World because you missed out on story...

    I've never minded missing out on a visit from Xur, or an Iron Banner, or anything like that if I was traveling that week. It's fun content, cool gear or a unique game mode (like, say, Sparrow racing), but this is months of slow drip story that I can't ever do. I missed seeing the Queen one week, and didn't really realize until a while later, and now I don't even know what cutscene to look for to see what I missed. It punishes players who don't log in constantly.

    And, again, yes, I know YouTube exists, but it kinda sucks to miss the way the story advances just because I was out of town.

    In the current seasonal direction we're headed, we're drip feeded content weekly. Sure, there were content droughts in the yearly expansion style, but at least we had ACCESS to them. And what content are we getting drip fed anyway? A seasonal activity that has a different boss every week. Yeah, the weapons are nice. You could even go as far as to say the Season of Dawn mods and armor are amazing. But we all know how much Armor 2.0 sucks with the RNG grind for stat points, elemental affinity and the seasonal mod slots. The TL;DR will also be a quote from an older post, as I believe it is relevant.

    TL;DR — With the latest content drops, Destiny has swung too far in favor of the extreme hardcore. I feel like I have to choose between playing Destiny to the fullest, or playing any other game that I want to play.

    1: Don't do this Go to Amanda, and if you've already beat the Forsaken campaign on that character, you'll be able to re-acquire it, and therefore replay it if you desire

    Yeh, my bad on that. All you have to do is replay "Last Call" from the Tangled Shore director. It will add the pursuit to replay the forsaken campaign, you can remove the pursuit from your quest tab and she'll stay there until your Forsaken story progress is advanced again.

    2: This will put Petra right back next to Spider, along with her usual spot in the Dreaming City. From 31 Dec 19 to 7 Jan 2020, she'll be in Rheasilva. From 7 Jan 2020 to 14 Jan 2020, she'll be in Aphelion's Rest.

    3: By having her right next to Spider again, it's a little easier giving her cookies.

    Edit 1: So I was re-running Last Call on my Warlock and Cayde-6 said, right as I finished the scout rifle weekly obelisk bounty, "Shaxx would be like THIS IS AMAZING"

    Titan Seasonal Leg Ornament Suffers from Un-Colorable Blue BS

    Title. There's a massive blue patch on the leg ornament that can't be colored by any shader, and it really sticks out and makes the leg ornament (and the seasonal armor rolls) look awful for Titans.

    And the Hunter/Warlock versions don't have this problem...why exactly?

    Bungo can this please get a fix? It's pretty annoying to grind the season pass, but I really was looking forward to unlocking this outfit, so it was very disappointing to see how terrible it looks with the giant blue patch. Only a few shaders hide it enough that it's not noticeable.

    Towerthought: Cabal count in decimal when it'd make more sense for them to use octal since they have 8 fingers.

    I was using the Skyburner's Oath for the scout rifle bounties when I noticed that the ammo counter on it (which uses Cabal characters) counted in decimal (there are ten characters that match up with 0-9).

    But humans using decimal to count dates back to us using our fingers to count (five on each hand, ten total). Cabal and Psions both have four digits on each hand, totaling in eight, so it'd make more sense for them to be counting in octal rather than decimal.

    To illustrate, rather than counting to 18 (the ammo of Skyburner's) like this:

    1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18

    Cabal would count like this:

    1 2 3 4 5 6 7 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 20 21 22

    And for shits and giggles, Hive have three digits, so they'd count in heximal (aka senary):

    1 2 3 4 5 10 11 12 13 14 15 20 21 22 23 24 25 30

    Fallen would use base 12 (duodecimal) because they have four hands

    1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B 10 11 12 13 14 15 16

    Also, and this may throw some of you for a loop, but all of these counts would sound the same if spoken aloud. An example of this would be in binary (base 2), the sequence (1 10 11) would be pronounced "one two three".

    Ginsor Destiny 2 Audiotool II

    Since Destiny is currently lacking some content I had some spare time to rewrite the Audiotool and can release it today.

     

    It loads all Dialogues/Transcripts from your Destiny 2 game files and let's you play the corresponding audio file. One of the new feature is, that the dialogues are now in the correct order. (E.g. the sentences that are spoken by each character in a mission are in the exact order as we see it in the game). Also, you can now see who the narrator of a sentence is. Similar to the previous version it has a search function as well as a newly added narrator filter.

     

    The first start of the tool might take approx. 2 minutes as all databases are loaded from the game files. Afterwards it will read directly from these databases, hence it just takes a second to open the tool and have all transcripts loaded. In case Destiny gets a new patch you simply update all databases again and it will load all data from the new version.

     

    The tool will never access any runtime data or read from the game's memory. That means, it will not violate Bungie's terms & conditions and can't cause any ban.

     

    Limitations are that this version does only support english language (I'm lazy), dialogues of cutscenes/videos are mostly excluded, and some transcripts do not have narrator information (this is because the game does not provide that information).

     

    It works well with the most recent version (2.7.0.1). In case some future Destiny patch will break the tool, I don't give any promises of if I will provide a fix. However, if you notice some bugs, feel free to reach out to me.

    I want to dual wield a Sword and Shield.

    When I'm third person with my sword, I would kill to see a shield in my alt hand.

    They could be added aggressive and select adaptive archetypes.

    The current way we block with swords could be replaced with the shield.

    Powerful rewards should grant Enhancement Prisms after hitting the power level cap

    Weekly activities that grant powerful rewards should also grant a small amount of Enhancement Prisms (maybe 2-4 pieces each) after you have reached the "soft light level cap", which is currently 960. Granting a single piece for each activity would be too tedious, which is already a huge problem of this new season model.

    These are the main problems this would address:

    • There's close to zero incentive to do these activities after reaching 960
    • Enhancement Shards and Prisms are really hard to come by if you don't do raids in general. This will keep you from masterworking any of your items.
    • Since masterworking your items is really slow currently, once you have a masterwork for a slot, you will keep using them for months. This is the direct opposite of the core intention of Armor 2.0.

    I think this would be really easy to implement, and it would improve the game a lot.

    Ships in orbit with shiny shaders always look dull. They look great in the inventory preview but lose all shinyness in orbit where it matters.

    Can we have exotic class items back?

    I and a friend today played a few ordeal nightfalls for the milestone an materials.

    I work on a set that makes me as Titan as most tanky as possible. By playing I realized how much benefit each class in their role could have with exotic class items exclusively in PvE…


    I mean, a short example of a Suggestion:


    Titan exotic class item:

    • When activating your super ability, enemies will focus on you primarily during the duration of your super ability

    Warlock exotic class item:

    • When buffing an ally you recieve energy for grenade, class ability and melee. Buffing more than one ally restores a small portion of super energy

    Hunter exotic class item:

    • When buffing allies or defeating enemies rapidly with precision kills your abilities recieve a damage buff (how much I don't know)

    Those items are just a raw idea but I think you get what I mean...

    Champions & Artifact Mods Are As Restrictive As Prestige Raid Lair Modifiers

    Quick preface - I know Divinity/Izunagi's circumvents the need for these mods somewhat, but that only reinforces my point.

    In case you didn't know or have never run one, the prestige lairs of the Leviathan have unique modifiers attached to them instead of just tighter tuned, more mechanically demanding encounters. These modifiers restrict load-outs - "Curated Load-outs" - forcing you to use only a certain weapon types at once. To wit,

    • Curated weapon loadouts are based on weapon archetypes. So over the summer, you might see combinations that require you to equip Auto Rifle/Submachine Gun/Sniper Rifle or Scout Rifle/Hand Cannon/Rocket Launchers

      • Loadouts are not locked inside the Prestige raid lair. You can bring tons of different guns into a raid lair and swap between them at will as long as the gun meets the required curation. For example, if you were doing Spire of Stars and the loadout is [Auto Rifle/Submachine Gun/Sniper Rifle], you might want to use Surous Regime for Val Ca'uor Phase 1, but swap to Ghost Primus for Val Ca'uor Phase 2 so you can equip D.A.R.C.I. for boss damage. " - TWAB 6/28/2018

    To many of you the idea of "Curating" weapon load-outs for challenging PVE activites might sound familiar, to a degree. Yeah, I'm talking about seasonal weapon mods.

    The trend so far, and what appears to be what will continue, is to give us a handful of weapon options that posses the ability to hold these mods each season (but only select mods). The pool of weapons is, literally, a handful. This appears to be a way of controlling the 'meta' , teasing out balance changes and forcing weapon diversity ... I guess. I, am not a fan of this system. I think there are other more creative ways to accomplish this. Ways that don't feel like ticking boxes, but, it is what it is. I won't exaggerate and claim that without these mods, weapons are nonviable. No, not really. The effects of the mods are largely very specific and situational, however, they are also undeniably useful and powerful even outside of their primary function - kill champions.

    When you push harder content such as Master NFs or potentially the upcoming Legend Sundial, Champions become frequent and these mods become pretty much required (...ᶦᶻᵘⁿᵃᵍᶦ...). Which, can suck. What if the selection of weapons that can use these mods doesn't overlap with your favorite guns?

    Okay, back to prestige raid lairs. These were not received very well. The difficulty was there, the rewards were there, but the design/execution of them paled in comparison to say Prestige Leviathan and that was due to these very specific "Curated" load-out restrictions. Asking fire teams to complete Spire of Stars with Scouts/Sidearms/Grenade Launcher is ... indeed a challenge, but the difficult feels arbitrary and closer to that of a esoteric triumph. However, I will concede the restriction opened up the use of non-meta exotic weapons, mostly primaries. I remember using Ratking, Skyburner's, Graviton Lance, Colony (I know, GL were in a bad place then) in prestige SoS, and that was cool. I wouldn't have otherwise. Sadly, unless they're built into exotic weapons now, not only are we restricted by the weapon loot pool, but they're gonna be legendary. I kinda feel like I did when whisper came out... exotic in the heavy as default.

    Hopefully I've done a good job of painting the similarities here, and hopefully I've made it clear why both options come up short. Hyper restricting load-outs and using that as your difficulty dial feels bad and it usually doesn't feel hard, just through more hoops. It feels in conflict with the idea of a shooter looter.

    As much as I'd want these mods to be available for every weapon, I doubt the system can or would be overhauled at this point. Maybe, a compromise. Allow more weapons to have access to the mods per season. Allow special weapons to get these mods - seriously. Allow exotic weapons of the respective archetype - so currently scouts/pulses/bows - to gain the affect of one of the champion mods. NOTE - don't tie these to catalysts, don't be cheap please.

    Competitive Matchmaking is a Rage-Inducing Nightmare

    UPDATE: https://youtu.be/1oF-CJ71zSU Here is a link to a YouTube video by Wish You Luck. He is very upset about the Matchmaking himself. TL;DR is he thinks Bungie gives people a rank based on their calculated ELO from 1-6 (1 being the best in the lobby). From there, he believes Bungie pairs #1 with #5 and #6 and then numbers 2, 3, 4 are on the other team. This results in, as a lot of us are speculating, one pretty solid team and then the other team where #1 has to carry. I am not saying he's absolutely right, but he brings up some good points (although in a very aggressive manner)

    It has become pretty clear to me that either I carry my team who is clearly not at the skill level of the lobby to victory, or I get absolutely pummeled by a lobby whose skill level is beyond that of mine.

    I get a few wins, losing streak, few wins, losing streak. Every. Single. Game. I am top of my team but that doesn't change the way the games go. Either I carry, or I don't. I cannot carry every single game especially when I am expected to carry against a team fully stacked with players above my skill level.

    Anyone else have similar experience? What is the damn issue with this Matchmaking?

    My suggestion?

    1. IF the Matchmaking actually does the 1,5,6 versus 2,3,4 thing then it needs to change to something more balanced such as 1,3,5 and 2,4,6.

    2. If Matchmaking actually tries its best to balance teams then the MMR/ELO system may need some tuning

    3. CHANGE THE GAMEMODE. SURVIVAL MAKES IT WAY TOO EASY FOR ONE GUY TO THROW AN ENTIRE Game. (Elimination, such as the one currently available for Valor, is a much better game mode that doesn't enable people to completely throw a match)

    Edit: I would also like to add that I've run into countless hackers that are absolutely blatant with their aimbots and wall hacks using easily-obtained gear on 1 day-old steam accounts. What are they even DOING in solo queue??? You can't carry people when you can't queue with them so what the hell??

    Edit2: What's the point of using hacks to see through walls anyway when you can just equip OEM? /s

    Edit3: For some numerical reference I easily hit 3500, grinded my way to 5000, and have lost EVERY GAME uninterrupted down to 3500 again.

    Bungie now that bright dust is a little harder to come by, can you reduce the amount of bright dust it takes to get the tributes from Calus in tribute hall

    As the title suggests, the bright dust economy is in somewhat of a depression right now, so it would be nice to use it on cosmetics I want instead of spending 2500 of it (really close to exotic ghost shells) for one tribute of bright dust.
