- Daily Questions [2020-01-28]
- The worse part about being a Destiny player is knowing this cycle will repeat again. In a few months we’ll be praising the game, and in a few after we’ll be upset again.
- I didn't see this posted yet, but apparently it's community manager appreciation day. I know the sub can be a little rough sometimes but thank you dmg, cozmo and deej for all that you do!
- What keeps you playing?
- Speculation: I'd rather have Saint-XIV die at the end of the season than see him become another Ikora with nothing to do
- If you complain about how the game is stale, unrewarding, poorly designed, imbalanced, etc., and continue to play it, you are reinforcing Bungie's bad design decisions.
- 1k Voices is now being affected by Ammo Scavenger Perks
- Having high stat roll armour only drop from a couple sources has destroyed armour grinding
- Today I was reminded why the Alters Of Sorrow was a failure.
- Can we all at least agree that Destiny 2 IS a game?
- Optimized Bounties for 1/27/2020
- “A vision that isn’t dictated by a commercial model or a business plan, but our creative vision. And what we want to do for our players, and what they want us to do for Destiny.”
- So what happened to Iron Banner dropping high stat armor?
- Last night was my first raid finish!
- Ace, Tarrabah, and Symmetry
- I think we are at a point with D2's Seasons where we can say less Seasons but longer ones is the better way to go.
- Remember when Wish-Ender hit like a truck and did not affect Crucible and we were all just having a great time!!!
- 3 years later, this still holds true
- Maybe it's time for Destiny to become a truly evolving world?
- A Wallpaper: To Remember The Corridors of Time
- Even if it's profitable this model, EV, and content quality is not good for the game or community long term. It feels like I'm renting content.
- Please, make arcstrider useful by making a middle tree exotic
- Is it bad luck or is it a problem with SB matchmaking that I lost 17 games in a row last night in IB.
- Today FOMO won, I brought myself to do something I really didn't want to.
- Do guardians develope death related kinks?

Posted: 27 Jan 2020 06:37 AM PST This cycle always repeats itself ever since the launch of D1, moments like this are inevitable at this point, and I don't think that'll ever change. Edit: Let me add this, I'm still currently playing actively and enjoying it, I just wanted to let people know [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jan 2020 01:01 PM PST Managing a passionate community like Destiny's is no simple task. DTG can be a salty place on occasion, and we aren't always thrilled with the state of the game. These guys are usually the first ones to hear it. "We're listening" and "we've passed along your feedback" have become a bit of a meme these days, but I know you guys work hard and want the game to succeed just as much as we do. Thank you guys for listening, reporting our feedback, and for the long hours you spend toiling in the salt mine. This community wouldn't be the same without you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jan 2020 12:34 PM PST My nightly ritual is this:
EDIT: Thank you to the kind guardian for the silver! I've been in this sub for 5 years and really love this game. Give us a reason to get excited, Bungie! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jan 2020 07:59 AM PST Unless my dad gets a new purpose I'd rather not see him waste away in the old-folks home that is the Tower. At least send him off to the farm and give him bird-feeding bounties [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jan 2020 05:00 PM PST If you want to see change you have to be willing to do something. If player counts don't change or you keep buying the season pass despite knowing based on the roadmap how uneventful the next season is, Bungie won't acknowledge that their product is broken. Take a break from the game, take a step back and delve into your backlog of other games. Pick up a new hobby. The sunk cost fallacy is a real thing and makes it very difficult for people to recognize when it's a good time to stop doing something that they used to enjoy. I stopped playing shortly after the launch of Shadowkeep, and it's been nice not feeling like I'm missing out on anything. I stay subbed here and see the constant avalanche of complaints and see the lack of action by Bungie to fix longstanding community complaints and it just reinforces my decision to take a step back. Am I gone forever? Maybe, maybe not - that's up to Bungie and if they want to put the effort into making Destiny a good game again. tl;dr: if you think the game sucks, stop playing it. 1k Voices is now being affected by Ammo Scavenger Perks Posted: 27 Jan 2020 06:22 AM PST As many of you might know, One Thousand Voices didn't use to benefit from anything but a single Fusion Rifle Reserves perk, increasing the gun's ammo capacity by one from 7 to 8, while making sure you always picked up 2 Heavy ammo per brick instead of 1-2. Today I found out that I was picking up 3 ammo per brick consistently from Fusion Rifle Ammo Finder produced bricks and 4 from regular ones, with 2 Fusion Rifle Scavenger mods on my boots. After realising this, I went to The Rig's Cargo Bay 3 Lost Sector on Titan to test this out across all Fusion Scavenger mod counts (up to 2). The mod itself still exclaims it works on only Special ammo for Fusion Rifles but that doesn't seem to be the case. From my testing I found out that, consistently, I would be getting 1 ammo from Fusion Ammo Finder's generated ammo, with 2 from every regular Heavy brick. Both of those amounts increased linearly by 1 ammo per Scavenger mod. I also tested everything mostly with 1 Fusion Rifle Reserves mod on, since it would cap out my maximum ammo reserves for 1KV. I am not sure whether you still have a chance not to get the same amount of ammo regardless of whether you have a Reserves mod or not, but I got the same results over a dozen or so runs of going across a bunch of Heavy bricks without a one so if you don't have a need for the ammo capacity, it seems like it's no longer basically needed. I'm not sure how long this has been in-game, but my guess goes to sometime during or after Season of Dawn launched. Here is a video where I step on a bunch of bricks with differing amounts of Scavenger mod. I did search for many permutations of 'scavenger', 'ammo', and '1k voices' and variations of those words, so if this was already known and posted here, don't scream at me please. Have a fantastic day! :^) [link] [comments] |
Having high stat roll armour only drop from a couple sources has destroyed armour grinding Posted: 27 Jan 2020 08:48 AM PST Armour 2.0 was a really good idea in theory but in reality it has really backfired. High stat armour only drops from a couple of activities(Raid, IB). Because of this all armour from every other source becomes insta shard. \Yes, Reckoning can also drop high stats but you cannot put ornaments on that set** Once you have a high stat roll set and you upgrade it there is no point in really even looking at any other set. Everything gets auto sharded like they are blue junk. What is the alternative? - Raid and IB should ONLY drop 65+ armour. Every drop. - Everything else should have a realistic chance to drop 65+. Getting the IO set to drop with 65+ stats should take time but be realistically obtainable. - Stats should drop more often in clusters to enable more interesting min/max building. - Armour grinding should be more about grinding for the stats you want instead of just hoping for an overall high number. Today I was reminded why the Alters Of Sorrow was a failure. Posted: 27 Jan 2020 03:38 PM PST Out of boredom, I decided to venture to the Moon for the first time this season. I was hoping to catch an active AoS, it took a few a reloads, but I found a group of 5 at tier 1. Better than nothing, so i joined and began murdering adds for time. It wasn't until the Sword Wizards came up that I noticed none of the 5 was killing the Knights to grab a Sword. Then I knew, that these guys/girls didn't know what to do. But still, I carried on and killed the Knight to get the Sword and break both the Wizards immune shield. We carried on and we got to the next set of Sword Wizards, but this time 2 of the group killed the Knights, grabbed a Sword and went after and killed the Wizards. I know, I couldn't believe it myself, 2 people who actually learnt something and used that knowledge. I only wish I could meet more people like that in Gambit. So anyway we get to the boss fight, do some massive DPS and Shrek goes immune. Can anyone guess what happened next? If you guessed that they kept shooting Shrek, you are correct. And if you guessed that they didn't turn around and notice I was struggling to stop Nightmares being sacrificed, you are also correct. Funny, but infuriating and then they all left after I restarted it. Am I the only person who thinks that Alters of Sorrow and Escalation Protocol should become a 6 person activity with matchmaking? Can we all at least agree that Destiny 2 IS a game? Posted: 27 Jan 2020 07:34 AM PST There's a lot of stuff out there that isn't video game. This is one of those video game. Whether you have negative or positive feelings about it, you must admit you can actually play it. [link] [comments] |
Optimized Bounties for 1/27/2020 Posted: 27 Jan 2020 03:58 PM PST Six hours and several medications later, I've arrived in one piece, more or less. Pro-tip: don't let your company book you a connecting flight with a 20 minute window to catch it. Step 1 - Room service. Step 2 - Pick up the following Dailies - you can check here for the Weeklies you need. Tower Bounties:
Planetaries:
Step 3 - Follow these steps:
Total Non-Elemental Non-Weapon-Specific Bounties Cleared: 17 Dailies, and whatever Weeklies you want to finish out. Total Time: 60-ish minutes on the Dailies. Note 1: Devrim's got an easy set today as well, as long as you run an Arc weapon. Note 2: Feedback from you guys. I have a hard time gauging exactly where people are on their weekly quests, because I play beyond these steps and probably clear them faster. Are there any of this week's weeklies that you're nowhere close to clearing? If so, which ones? I can try to take that into account starting next week. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jan 2020 07:16 AM PST This was a quote made by Eric Osborne, the Head of Community at Bungie. This was one of the last statement made in the Out of Shadows ViDoc Bungie released to show off Shadowkeep for the first time. This expressed Bungie's plans were for their very first paid content release following their separation with Activision and retention of the Destiny IP. I'm not here to reign in more toxicity, but like many of you, I have thrown in thousands of hours on end from the beginning of this franchise in 2014. Everything from raids, strikes, PvP, cosmetics, DLC, puzzles, the fun, the fake, the good and the bad. I may have even LFGed with some of you reading this at some point previously. It's not a secret, many of us aren't happy. Many of us are starting to walk away from the game or feeling a sense of emptiness that's reminiscent of Destiny 2 Year 1. Like all of you, I want Destiny to be the game that when all my friends have time off, we all get on and have a blast doing whatever we decide to run. Any of the plethora of content already in the game, but also filled with excitement and wonder of what could come in the future. By these statements, made on all sides: we've been here before. Wondering not what's the next big thing for the franchise, but wondering how is the franchise going to recover, or how is Bungie going to fix something that we don't like? We all don't want to wonder how to fix things, we want to wonder on possibilities. New things for the franchise. Let our imaginations soar on where we could go next. So I ask on all sides. To all members of our community: What do you want to see? What are the core problems with Destiny 2? How do we fix them? And just as important, what do you want to see for the future of this franchise? What is something fresh and exciting and new that could really shake things up and add a new layer of depth and engagement? To Bungie: What is the "creative vision" for Destiny? To many this may seem redundant as we have heard the answer dozens of times now, but I feel as if we've been asking this since the franchise's inception. But to this day, answers given in person and expressions in game have always contradicted each other. It's like Destiny still doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it an RPG? An FPS? A looter shooter? A Free-to-play game? A freemium game? Wherever it goes, our love will surely follow. But what was it when we loved it most? When most of us collectively consider Destiny at its best, what worked and what didn't then? What did the game have then that it doesn't now, and what's better now that we can keep and build upon? We all want Destiny to be the game of our dreams. The game of all games. We're all in this together. See you starside, Guardians. [link] [comments] |
So what happened to Iron Banner dropping high stat armor? Posted: 27 Jan 2020 01:30 PM PST After collecting dozens of pieces of Season 9 Iron Banner armor, the highest stat total I have seen is 58, and most have been in the 54-56 range. IB used to be one of the few sources of decent stat rolls, but now even that incentive seems to be gone. I have found exactly zero pieces worth keeping, and with zero new weapon rolls to chase, the rewards seem to be incredibly boring. [link] [comments] |
Last night was my first raid finish! Posted: 27 Jan 2020 07:03 AM PST I've been playing destiny since the weekend after destiny 1 came out. I've tried and failed every single raid in destiny 1 and I have failed the Leviathan twice. Last night after 5 plus years and five plus hours I completed the Leviathan as my first raid. Today is the best day I've ever had playing destiny. Now I can't wait to do the rest!! Edit: this community is so awesome!! Thanks everyone for the congrats and offers to be Sherpas I really appreciate it. I'll keep you all in mind when I'm ready to realize again, and if anyone is confused why I didn't go that route I'm the hottest place, I just really wanted my first time to be with my clan! Posted: 27 Jan 2020 07:28 PM PST So, I know I'm not the only one who's thought about this, or even probably posted about it. But, why on earth does Ace of Spades and Tarrabah lose their perk (or perk activation progress for Tarrabah) when stowed, but Symmetry retains it? I am genuinely curious because I enjoy these exotics, but I am endlessly frustrated when using them because of this. I remember Memento being changed due to OEM, but I don't really think it's justified being kept that way, and Tarrabah could easily be one of the best exotic weapons but its being held back due to losing perk progress when stowed. Posted: 27 Jan 2020 05:06 AM PST I personally think we would be alot happier with the Seasons if:
Having longer seasons with more quality content would grant Bungie more time developing more quality content for the next season. It would be much more balanced I think. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jan 2020 09:07 PM PST Yeah, that was a good time. Destiny should just make that a timed thing every now and then. [link] [comments] |
3 years later, this still holds true Posted: 27 Jan 2020 08:47 AM PST Got recommended these videos after a long time. Unsurprisingly, some things never change with Destiny. [link] [comments] |
Maybe it's time for Destiny to become a truly evolving world? Posted: 27 Jan 2020 06:53 PM PST I was thinking a lot about lately about what exactly but me off Destiny in Y3. I think the main reason is that things come and go as if nothing happened. In his Director's Cut, Luke Smith mentioned that they want to make a truly evolving world out of Destiny. With how the transition from Undying to Dawn went through, it felt more like a revolving world. What I mean by that is that there are absolutely no traces of a recent Vex Invasion anywhere. The Vex Gate near Ikora is gone, the Moon isn't littered with Vex parts or just some roaming leftover Vex workers. It's as if nothing happened. Imagine how cool would it be if each season left something after it's done. Currently we run around ruins of something that happened without our direct involvement. The EDZ, for example, is a place of constant battle between the Fallen and the Cabal and it's been that way even before our Guardian was revived in D1. It's time for Bungie to put something that we actually did as a landmark in the game. Vex Gate should've been left on the Tower. The Sundial and the Obelisks should remain as inactive objects (I think you can see the Sundial from the old Mercury landing zone?). That way, for example, if you're bringing new friends into the game and show them what's what you can say something along the lines of "Oh, do you see that Vex Gate by Ikora? We actually built it as a community back in September. And that thing in the middle of the tower is an Obelisk, we built those when we helped Osiris with his time-travel experiments" That would actually create those "I've been there" moments Luke Smith has been going on about in his Director's Cut. Gear doesn't matter as much as actual events that happened and landmarks left by those events. Guardians are, first and foremost, protectors of humanity. We are here to ensure that humanity not only survives, but also thrives in these trying times. What better way to show that than placing actual structures, made by us, in the game, and letting them stand there as a reminder of our achievements. The only reminder we have now is that of our inability to protect the Tower from the Cabal invasion more than 2 years ago. EDIT: So apparently there ARE Vex on the Moon near Hellmouth. Still, having the Vex Gate that we built in the Tower would be cool. [link] [comments] |
A Wallpaper: To Remember The Corridors of Time Posted: 27 Jan 2020 10:48 PM PST Hey all I'm new here as I joined during the Corridors of time. Helping get screenshots for streamers when I could join between days and shifts at work.
I wanted to make a wallpaper 1920x1080 to remember the corridors. I had an awesome screenshot that gave me the idea and here it is:

Posted: 27 Jan 2020 02:55 AM PST I'm sure you guys are fully aware of how we feel. Not speaking up and no response is not only infuriating but insulting. I'm sure the money men couldn't be happier but I thought this was about us not them. We are unhappy. For some of us, this is more than a game or second job or even hobby. It's our happy place. I feel abused honestly, the tribute hall scam, shallow content, endless bugs. I get it is hard to keep destiny at peak levels of enjoyment but I haven't seen this place so disheartened since Curse of Osiris. Trying to use FOMO and spreading content extremely thin to keep retention is kinda scummy. I don't like saying that. I understand your people get overworked and we hold you to unreasonable standards but this is a sanctuary for some of us. Even if its better for you maybe making deeper content for more money upfront a couple of times a year is better for the game. What I'm seeing is you forcing me to dedicate time to tedious things so for rewards that become next to meaningless. Titles are supposed to show dedication and skill, not retention. Like I said it might look good on your end but it feels shitty on ours. What's starting to happen is people are leaving or just giving up on doing things because what's the point? Do a tedious grind for a mediocre reward that's more or less a participation reward? Why can't we have both artifacts and be able to switch them? I get that mixing up metas in pve/pvp seems like a good idea but FORCING people into builds feels claustrophobic and actually narrows the meta not widen it. I want better reasons to play and thicker content. If after I accomplish said content if I go away that's not necessarily a bad thing. Because I'm more apt to return knowing the next thing is worthwhile. Having Destiny make me feel like I have no time for other games makes me want to PLAY it LESS NOT MORE. Feeling forced to login constantly for shallow thinly spread content because I'll never be able to access it again is not what I want as a hobby player. It feels like I'm renting content. Please, make arcstrider useful by making a middle tree exotic Posted: 27 Jan 2020 06:23 PM PST Literally anything. stronger melee. Better reload speed. What we all want is an exotic that extends the super when you block projectiles. This can be very small for bullets, stronger for special ammo, a bit stronger for heavy, and ALOT of energy for super abilities deflected. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jan 2020 06:48 AM PST Is this happening to just me? I've played destiny for a long time now. Years. And I've had some rough days in pvp. But I have never lost every game I played in a night before. I started counting around match 6. I quit after losing match 17. Every single game was a loss but the odd thing is, that I took first or second place almost every one of those games. I think only one or two games I took like 3rd or 4th. So it's not like I was the single factor. But what causes that. Does the bungie gods hate me and curse me with bad luck or is that related to skill based matchmaking? Also every game seemed hard like a super competition with a million dollar prize. [link] [comments] |
Today FOMO won, I brought myself to do something I really didn't want to. Posted: 27 Jan 2020 11:44 PM PST I'm talking about the corridors of time lore pieces, tbh I think lore pieces ingame suck and I'd rather watch a Byf video than actually reading them, but nonetheless since the discovery of corridors of time I wanted to go there and catch the lore pieces and emblem, so since today is pretty much the last day (can't play tomorrow morning) I forced myself into it to get all 19 pieces plus the emblem... And it didn't feel like I was "being there" for a magical moment "when it happened". It felt like I needed to finish an essay of a class that I hate but I don't have other choice. Of course I had another choice that was not getting it, but knowing that I wouldn't ever get it again kinda tricked me into going for it anyway. After finishing it I didn't feel any pride or sense of accomplishment, I just felt relieved it was over. This is not something I'll ever be excited to tell to a friend that just picked up the game. That's not how you create a great experience, Bungie. [link] [comments] |
