    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'CoT & In-Game Secrets' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Forbes hit the nail on the head: "Destiny 2's you had to be there philosophy is turning off players."

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 05:36 PM PST

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2020/01/22/destiny-2s-you-had-to-be-there-philosophy-is-turning-off-players/

More and more people are turning away from a game with an "evolving" story that doesn't go anywhere. FOMO appears to be Bungies way of attempting to keep players playing, while they make as minimal content as possible. It's the reason people did Corridors of Time, even though it had the most lackluster reward. Going back to the old DLC style of content (even with the stale metas) would be better than getting an unrewarding reskined "horde" mode every few months.

Bungie should be building the quality of the world, not quantity.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 07:30 AM PST

EDIT - I fucking love this community. It's always nice to hear voices from all side whether it be the realists, the dreamers, the cynical, or the war with the Cabal on Mars. I think this community might actually be the reason that keeps me here day after day, raid after raid, and mercy after mercy. I just enjoy playing with you crazy bastards. I appreciate all your opinions, good or bad (which is relative to the person reading it). Many of y'all have great ideas and honestly want to see the game thrive and that's the best thing you can see from a community of any type. I'm gonna go drink and play the game. I'll reply to as many comments I can. Have a wonderful day/night/afternoon!

I'm no game developer, coder, designer, or writer. I'm just a simple meteorologist who loves this game almost more than any other game I have played. It has kept me coming back time and time again. Lately it seems like Bungie is worried about keeping players busy with tedious tasks, instead of giving replayable content that we can find joy farming for weapons, armor, and materials. What I'm going to show my opinion on is parts of the game that the developers seem to have forgot about that could use a little love. By focusing on the quality of what we have now, I feel the game could make a huge turn.

    Gear

Stupid simple. Make all year 1 legendary weapons random roll and get rid of the affinity on exotic armor. Look into reworking underutilized exotics and bug fixes.

    The Tower

    Bounties

This one seems to be a relatively easy fix as well. All we need is a bounty board where we can grab what we want/need. It becomes extremely cumbersome to run literally from one side of the tower to the other hitting up to 8 vendors (16 if you include planets). This takes much of your time for a monotonous task just so you can play the actual game. With a bounty board, you load in, look at what you want/need and be on your way. The only thing I think shouldn't be up there is special bounties and quests. Those usually come with some type of story or narrative from the vendor and should stay with the vendor. Of course Spider's bounties should not be there either. He doesn't work with The Tower but with us directly.

    Vendors

Vendors have gotten to a point where they're pretty useless other than bounties and quests. They haven't received a refresh to gear in ages and quite a few of them are completely pointless in general. And if a bounty board were added, this would make them even more useless. I'm going to suggest some changes for each of them individually.

    1. Benedict-99 - This bot seems to be in a good place. His function is to supply us with gifts from Calus by trading in tokens from the raid. That's fine.
    2. Ada-1 - She's in an okay place, also. Her function is Black Armory and it's weapons. Her bounties should also go to the bounty board but you should have to go to her for the weapon frames. My biggest issue with her is having to visit her every time after completing the first step for the frame. It's extremely annoying. Another suggestion for her is to be able to bring her a BA weapon and let her re-roll a MW or perk a max of one time on that weapon at the price of a stack of modulus reports and a few mod components. This way if you're off by one on your perfect roll, you can use this method instead of spending 30 mins to an hour farming another.
    3. Drifter - This shady dude doesn't need much more. He does his gambit dealings and that's it. I do feel as though he could use token system like Shaxx and Zavala but instead of tokens, you use synths. I would also add a random rolled weapon and random affinity/stat piece of armor that rotates every week.
    4. Hawthorne - She does exactly what she needs to clan stuff. Bounties go to the board, raid challenge bounties stay but for heaven's sake, CHANGE HER VOICE LINE ALREADY!
    5. Ikora - My god do I love this woman but fuck is she pointless. She had a little time in the light with Vex Offensive but that time is over. I think she should take over rewards and bounties for heroic story missions. She's always has been the character about past reflection. Give her special bounties and armor like she had before. Give her sets of weapons also then make work like a suggested for Drifter, random rolled weapon and random affinity/stat piece of armor that rotates every week that you can buy with Vanguard tokens.
    6. Banshee-44 - He's needs two of the things I mentioned before. Bring him any weapon other than BA and let him re-roll a MW or perk a max of one time on that weapon at the price of weapon parts and a few mod components and weapon telemetries. The other is the random rolled weapon and random armor, but since he doesn't have armor, just make it two weapons.
    7. Shaxx and Zavala - I think you can guess my suggestion for them. If you guessed random rolled weapon and random armor, you are correct. Other than that, they don't need much more in my opinion.
    8. Tess - Not even going into this one.
    9. Kadi-99 - I love you but please don't get rid of my purples for blues and my yellows for purples.
    10. Amanda - This lovely lady is extremely under utilized and we all know why. We should be getting at least a few custom ships and sparrows from this lady whether we buy them with glimmer and materials or better yet, small quest that rewards us with an exotic ship or sparrow. We should also be able to bring our sparrow to her and have it re-rolled or upgraded. I also like the idea of her selling horns and different sparrow trails through high prices of materials or quests/bounties.
    11. Saint-XIV - I really hope he stays.
    12. Factions - Random rolled weapon and random armor with weekly reset, pledge allegiance and turn in tokens for random engram. We should also be able to change our faction once per week per character. There is no reason for these guys (and gal) not to be used right now.
    13. Saladin - I don't even like this guy but it's the same thing. We need to have a choice of some sort in what we get. Random rolled weapon and random armor with daily reset and add all past weapons and armor to the IB loot pool after match drop.

    Planets/Locations

    Vendors

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we need to have a choice of some sort in what we procure. Fortunately, most planetary vendors actually do that but the rolls are static. Making them random rolls with a weekly rotation will give us a reason to visit them and would give a chance of filling that stop we might be looking for in our loadout.

    Materials

Materials aren't something that most people think about on a regular basis. They allow us to gain rank-up engrams from planet vendors and buy our upgrade modules. They have their purpose and tend to be burnt through pretty quick if you're not paying attention and replenishing every-so-often. Spider makes this task ridiculously easy at a reasonable cost. Why would anyone run around a location for 30 minutes picking up 1-3 materials at a time when you can visit the Spider and pick up hundreds of materials in just two minutes? Why not respect the time that we are willing to put in by bumping up the amount we pick up. In my opinion, we should see at least 5-8 drop every time we open a chest or farm it from the ground.

    Activities

    Heroic Story Missions

Other than lore and a piece of gear, there is no real reason to do these. I suggest two things: 1)Make it farmable for upgrade modules buy supplying Ikora with a consumable you can use while in the missions. 2)With respects to the location the mission is on, increase the chance of receiving a high stat armor piece once per story mission. In my opinion, we should always have a choice whether we step into a war with the Cabal on Mars spend our revenue or our time for certain things. Bungie has done that but playing the same Ordeal strike over and over to farm upgrade modules is not fun. Standing in front of Spider pressing the "accept" button is not fun.

    Heroic Strikes

Strike scoring. Strike scoring. Strike scoring. With that being said, the end chest should also have a chance to drop a random rolled location specific weapon relative to the area the strike takes place (for example, Lake of Shadows would yield a random Scathlocke). Higher the score, the more likely the weapon drop. It would also be nice to see Bungie include strike specific armor again.

TL;DR - Bungie needs to focus on the quality of what we already have and respect our time as players of this game.

Its beginning to feel like with every season the Eververse is just funding itself, not new content.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 03:59 PM PST

We've had this Iron Banner set rehashed 3 times. 3!!! That is simply not good enough for this game which is based on chasing cool loot

We havent had a vendor refresh since forsaken and the vanguard and crucible havent provided any new armor or weaponry besides pinnacles/rituals in this time too.

BUT, we have had like 6(?) new sets of armor put intoo eververse for each character that have been mostly NEW armor models. Having 1-2 new sets of armor a season is not going to be sustainable past Dawn. Period.

The amount of "loot" in eververse though, thats been consistent and its been plentiful. Is the season REALLY 10 dollars if most of the new items are behind paywalls?

I cant bring myself to play this game past level 100 of the season pass, because levelling is pointless beyond the day ONE grind and 75% of the loot ive already had on my character months prior. Why would I chase it again?

This game is a looter shooter, the loot cant take a backseat

Is this really what Luke Smith envisioned when he said they want to make an evolving world?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 11:40 AM PST

That statement got me excited, I immediately thought back to D1 with what I think was the lead up to house of wolves? (Please correct me if I'm wrong) where powerful bosses popped up in new public events, ahead of the release. I figured we would get things like this, all season long.

With season of the undying, we got weekly updates to a portal, ending in one of the most lackluster events in destiny's history, giving us the exact same event with a new boss.

With season of dawn, we have had... Much of the same, 3 rotating bosses with no evolving of the game world aside from developing your obelisks, a system I personally like, but far from a world evolution throughout the season. We did get a puzzle, but that turned into THE most lackluster end reward in destiny history.

I thought by Luke's description, we would be getting a game mode that evolved throughout the season, new rewards, new enemies, patches that change up weapons or add new ones, have the "main event" escalating to a point where the very game world feels different, to then have us shut it down forever and prepare for the next with smaller world events begining to escalate again.

What we have had over the first 2 seasons of this new model, is less content than we are used to, trickle fed to us so we don't burn through it, with "evolving world" slapped onto the packaging. What this has done, is taken the meaning away from doing ANYTHING in the game. Why bother grinding for that God roll, when you need to get it to drop again next season for the new mod slot. Why raise your light level when nothings really a challenge and in a few months we get another 10 added on anyway.

There are so many systems in game already that could do with a revamp, that could do with evolving - get to it. Gambit is almost identical to how it was when it released, no new maps, no new rewards (aside from ritual weapons no one cares about). Same with crucible for the most part and strikes, and public events, and raids and even gameplay as I cannot remember the last time we got a meaningful patch that mixed up weapons/armor...

This isn't an ever evolving world, it's a stagnant one that has a few things dropped in throughout the season, that then go away again a few months later... Is this really what Luke Smith was going for? Because I don't feel like the community wanted this.

Edit: wow, this blew up - thank you for the silver! I am glad to see so many of us are on the same (or similar) pages when it comes to destiny's current state.

How Destiny 2 became a game with tons of content and most of them are meaningless now

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 08:28 AM PST

Today i watched this video from Destin (i think he is from ign destiny podcast show), I agree with him to a certain degree, here is the video if you want to see his point of view that made me create this post.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tn1ZVxKS6MM

Now to my point of view, as a regular player and not a content creator. Me, as a player that doesnt play tons of hours a week, i dont feel like the time i play weekly is too few, sure playing like 10hrs a week can be little content for some1 that makes a living of playing video games (or specificly playing destiny when it comes to Datto and others), but for me 8-10hrs a week is a fair time for me weekly gameplay loop, and sometimes i still find time to play some other game, which is great since the reason i dropped mmo's like WoW was because took the entire time i had and i couldnt play anything else.

But i agree with "destiny has a lot of content and most of it doesnt matter", since i dont play crazy amounts of hours, i still have lots of quests and stuff to do, quests, catalysts to farm and to level up, stuff like that, but MOST of those things im doing just for... completion, just to empty my quest log not because "wow i REALLY NEED THIS GUN!" no, at this point i already have a better alternative and that quest becomes just a 'completion' type of quest, of a gun that i will unlock store in the Bank and continue to use my gun that is a better alternative.

As for RPG elements i think now its a lot better then was before, im not saying is perfect but if u think back then, i didnt matter which armor u had, no i have armor with discipline for granade + demolitionist builds, or with intellect for more super focus builds, etc, and sure doesnt have huge amount of depth but is miles away better then before.

And to finish... the meaningless Power Grind, grinding past the softcap every season is useless, after you reach the cap its just a number that symbolize how dedicated you are to the pinacle activities to the game, improving the power from 960 to 970 to make pinacle activities barely improve anything(sometimes feel like makes no diference to be honest), and forcing that players to use specific types of weapons because of artifact mods its not fun AT ALL, and not being able to use artifact mods on exotics is pathetic, i have cool exotics that i love and i cant use them most of the time because i need to use a pulse/scout/bow because of barrier or unstopabble... thats complete terrible seasonal content.

What you guys think of how Bungie is dealing with Seasonal content in Destiny 2 so far?

The Last City as an open world explore-able map.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 11:25 AM PST

Guardians exist to protect humanity which resides almost entirely inside the Last City. I think it would be cool if we could explore the city as an open world map with other guardians. Like check out ramen shops, race your sparrows through the narrow streets.

To make it slightly more interesting maybe local police give you quests to go clear areas overrun by fallen (patrols), parades celebrating guardians (public events) an idea for a specific public event is you have to fly your ship in formation around the city like an aerial show.

You could turn the entire city into a huge maze filled with lore which would give hours and hours of exploration.

What are your thoughts on this?

A quick note about Destiny "friend" etiquette.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 08:13 PM PST

As a person who's done all the end game content, has all the exotics (for every class even) and all the raid exotics, I don't have a whole lot of reasons to login to Destiny these days, especially as lackluster as the current season model is.

Lately I've just been hanging out in D2 LFG and Reddit D2 LFG helping people through stuff like Whisper, Zero Hour, Pit of Heresy and Shattered Throne because I find it fun and honestly, helping others right now is the only satisfaction I get in the game really.

As a result, my friends list has grown exponentially which is fine, I don't mind.

I do however, have one comment. When you friend random people you meet through the game/LFG, etc. don't just start joining them every time they login. Like literally, joining someone without saying anything or asking.

This has happened to me quite a few times lately by a bunch of people. I have to run around with a closed fireteam all the time now.

So in short, make friendships, make connections, get stuff done. Just don't go joining people's fireteams without asking them first. It's just kind of poor form.

    Cheers. :)

I don’t know if this is well known, but you can swap 3 identical rare transmat effects for a legendary one at Amanda Holliday

Bungie, by the Light of The Traveler can we PLEASE GET MORE CATALYSTS?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 10:49 AM PST

There's SO many exotics in the game that could be substantially better with the addition of new catalysts. Even exotics that are considered as "bad" by the playerbase could get a revival and be way more usable in both PvE and PvP. It's understandable that you want to introduce brand new exotics and see how that works but giving an older weapon a catalysts could sometimes be even more beneficial. E.g. give the Lumina a catalyst that allows us to shoot the noble round at ourselves and heal us, give Le Monarque a catalyst so it doesn't need us to fire at the exact precise time for the perk to proc...

Please let me pull the curated seasonal armor from collections.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 12:52 PM PST

Or at least let me pull a base roll. I can pull armor 2.0 base rolls of all blue armor but no purples, which means I have to spend 15 vault spaces on my set of S8 armor (3 classes) for whenever I want to show it off.

All armor (especially seasonal/limited time armor) should be ornaments anyway. But at least in the meantime give the purples the same treatment the blues are getting.

EDIT: Obviously we could only pull the curated seasonal armor after unlocking it on the season pass. But really, I wouldn't mind just the base roll. All my Substitutional Alloy armor is really crappy because I was new to the game and didn't pay attention to any stats or affinity yet and if I could pull it from collections then I wouldn't have to waste vault space on crappy armor and I could get it all in the same elemental affinity.

Bungie, could we get an emblem that tracks Guardian revives?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 11:20 PM PST

I am the type of player that always goes for the revive, especially in matchmade activities like the sundial and menagerie. It would be nice to see how many revives I have gotten over the years, but it might also encourage people to actually go for the revive. Sitting there waiting to respawn when some blueberry is 5 feet from my ghost can get quite frustrating.

Question for the Destiny Community: Would you pay more for Destiny Content, if it meant the Eververse would disappear?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 09:12 AM PST

Think of it this way: would you have been willing to pay $15, maybe $20 for this season, if it meant everything in the store was placed in some activity or in the season pass? Would you maybe pay a monthly subscription like with WoW?

Also, how much do you play destiny? Do you consider yourself a hardcore player, a casual player, or something in the middle?

I haven't exactly made up my mind yet, but I'm curios to see what you all think?

    Optimized Bounties For 1/26/2020

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 11:13 AM PST

Today's Optimized Bounties are brought to you by academic jargon. Hermeneutics. Ludocriticism. Materiality and sociality. Procedural embodiedness.

Step 1 - Put down the thesaurus.

Step 2 - Pick up the following Dailies - you can check here for the Weeklies you need.

    Tower Bounties:

    • Saint XIV Daily – Leading Light – Kill 20 Enemies With Your Super
    • Zavala Daily – From Downtown – 2 Super Multikills
    • Shaxx Daily – Sparring Grounds – Complete 2 Crucible Matches
    • Shaxx Daily – Standard Fare – 5 Kinetic Kills
    • Shaxx Daily – Knockout Round – Melee Kill 1 Enemy
    • Shaxx Daily – All for One – Complete 1 Rumble Match

    Planetaries:

    • Eris – Lunar Patrol – Complete 3 Patrols on the Moon
    • Eris – Moonstreak – Kill 50 Enemies Without Dying
    • Eris – Ritualistic Finish – Kill 7 Hive With Finishers
    • Sloane – Walk the Beat – Complete 2 Patrols on Titan
    • Sloane – Alkane Chemistry – Collect 5 Alkane Dust
    • Sloane – Make It Rain – Generate 10 Orbs

Step 3 - Follow these steps:

    1. Fly TO THE MOOOOOOOOOOON, grab Eris' bounties. Patrols are basically free on the Moon – every zone has a "Talk to Toland" bounty and a "Kill anything" bounty. Head to Sorrow's Harbor and run the two patrols, finishing any and all Hive as you go. Then fly to any other zone, clear one patrol, and murder your way to finishing Moonstreak. (5-10 minutes)
    2. Fly to Titan and equip your mat/combo detector Ghost. Pick up the bounties from Sloane, then look for either the Kill Everything bounty, or the Collect Stuff bounty on the low ground near the public event space. The one on the low ground will let you collect stuff from any Fallen, so it's much faster. Supers free. If neither patrol is available, grab the closest one and immediately abandon it. That will rotate it out and replace it with a new one. (5-10 minutes)
    3. Play one Rumble match. (5-10 minutes)
    4. Play one Iron Banner match. (10 minutes)

Total Non-Elemental Non-Weapon-Specific Bounties Cleared: 12 Dailies. Maybe some Iron Banner weeklies?

    Total Time: 40-ish minutes.

Note 1: Saint and Zavala let us down again today. While I don't ever recommend changing to a weapon or subclass you hate, if you already run Void or Solar classes/weapons, you'll find some extra bounties for Saint and Banshee for you.

I am truly humbled by Bungies confidence in my PVP skill.

But I've been stomped the majority of the day. Sorry Bungie, I'm not as good as the guys I'm being matched with.

I went into Iron Banner with a 195 power level hunter. It was super weird. Here's a minute of it. If anyone wants to try it, dm me and we can discuss!
