    Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/48686

This Week at Bungie, we had to fix the timeline.

Earlier this week, when we deployed 2.7.1, we discovered an issue causing players to lose various currencies. Our team immediately took action and brought the game down for maintenance while we worked to discover the source of the issue. We did this to minimize any further impact to players. We ended up doing the first-ever character rollback in Destiny's history to ensure that no one lost any of their hard-earned materials. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by the unexpected maintenance and appreciated everyone's patience while we worked to get the game back online.

We'll continue to improve our efforts to minimize issues and downtime. Even though some bugs are always going to crawl through the cracks, we'll be waiting on the other side with a swatter.

    Empyrean Foundation

Next week, the Empyrean Foundation rebuild effort begins. Saint-14 will ask all Guardians to contribute to building a beacon that will be a foundation for things to come next Season. The Tower Obelisk will be the focal point of this event, so make sure you have it unlocked and ready to go as it's going to have some hefty benefits to take advantage of.

Players will need to come together and contribute resources towards a common goal. To participate, players can donate their Fractaline using the Tower Obelisk. The event will have seven stages, each requiring increasing amounts of Fractaline to progress through. There will also be a hologram at the Tower Obelisk where you'll be able to track the community's progress in game.

Of course we aren't going to ask you to fork over your hard-earned Fractaline without providing some benefits. Here's what's in it for you:

    • Contributing to the Empyrean Foundation costs 100 Polarized Fractaline.
    • Contributing generates a 25% flat progression for all Timelost weapon bounties in your inventory.
    • Your Tower Obelisk will generate Polarized Fractaline for you each week equivalent to its Resonance Power.
    • Increase its Resonance Power by upgrading other Obelisks
    • Players who donate more than 5,000 Polarized Fractaline before the end of the Season will earn a Triumph and emblem.

    Image Linkimgur

Everyone in the community will also receive a shader when all stages are completed. Here's a look at community goals for the seven stages.

    Stage 1: 400,000,000

    Stage 2: 700,000,000

    Stage 3: 1,200,000,000

    Stage 4: ???

    Stage 5: ???

    Stage 6: ???

    Stage 7: ???

Everyone is welcome to contribute. This event will be available to all Destiny 2 players and doesn't require the Season Pass. You can start prepping this week by stockpiling Fractaline and making sure that your Tower Obelisk is powered up and ready to go.

    Rollback to the Future

    Image Linkimgur

Player Support has a key role of working with the entire team to make sure you are aware of deployments and efforts to restore service during outages.

    This is their report.

UPDATE 2.7.1 AND ROLLING BACK ACCOUNTS

After Update 2.7.1 went live on Tuesday, January 28, the Player Support team began noticing a trend of topics where users had lost various Destiny 2 currencies and infusion materials. After verifying this issue, it was decided by several Bungie teams to take the game down in an attempt to prevent more players from being affected.

Due to this issue affecting all accounts, and with no way to determine how much each account lost in a timely manner, it was decided to roll back everyone's account from our last account backup around 8:30 AM PST.

    Due to the rollback:

    • Any progress or quest that completed between 8:30 and 10:30 AM PST would have to be redone.
    • Any item gained during that timeframe would have to be earned again.
    • Purchases made during that timeframe would have to be redone, and Silver spent would be restored.
    • Platform store-purchased Silver bundles would not be affected since they are completed on the platform's end.

After the rollback completed, Destiny 2 server came back online around 7:00 PM PST. We are continuing to investigate why this issue occurred and may provide more information about it in the future.

    TWITCH PRIME SUPPORT

To receive the gear drops mentioned in the Prime Time section above, players will need an active Amazon Prime account, Bungie.net account, and a Destiny 2 account. Once these accounts are linked, players can claim their drops on the Destiny 2 Twitch Prime website, then log into Destiny 2 and speak to Amanda Holliday in the Tower Hangar to claim the drops.

For more information about how to link accounts and claim your Exotic gear drops, view our Twitch Prime Support for Destiny 2 article on Help.Bungie.Net.

    CURRENT KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

    • The Pigeon and the Phoenix lore book triumphs can no longer be viewed by players who unlocked them. This will be resolved in a future update.
    • Tower load times have increased after Update 2.7.1.
    • The Green With Envy quest is not properly recording Infamy rank for some players after Update 2.7.1.

For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

    Year of the Rat Kings

    Image Linkimgur

You ever see a video so funny that you sprayed milk out of your nose? I haven't, but I have a strict no-drinking-milk-while-watching-videos policy. Take a look at our winning movie this week (and careful with the milk!)

Movie of the Week: Rat Attack

    Video Link

    Honorable Mention: Awakening

    Video Link

Movie of the Week winners will find a new emblem in their collections. Just make sure to put a link to your Bungie.net profile pages if you win so we know where to send them. We'll pick our favorite video from anywhere on the safe-for-work internet where Destiny videos are posted. But if you really want that emblem, the best place to submit your video is the Community Creations page.

When you read this, I'll be traveling to visit family in Texas and Oklahoma next week. But don't worry, the Community team has been growing fat with strength and will have everything covered while I'm out. I won't be fully out of action though. I'll be contributing to the Empyrean Foundation community event from the road using Stadia.

We look forward to watching the community mobilize in force to answer our challenge. We always try to set the bar high, since you have crushed our expectations in the past. Let's see what you got this time.

Saint-14 talking at the end of the Bastion quest about visiting the city and hearing the people sing and dance makes me really sad we can't visit the city ourselves

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 04:10 PM PST

I know it'll more than likely never happen as it would not be worth the development time, but damn I really wish you weren't confined to visiting the Tower when you returned to the Last City. I have no idea what they'd even do with the area but when I think back to the couple times we have been in the city streets (Solstice during Y1, final mission of Red War, etc.) I keep thinking about how awesome it would be to come down here anytime and see what life is like.

Yeah, it'll never happen I know. But Saint talking about him doing it made me jealous that we couldn't visit and hang out with the people of the Last City too. Makes it hard to remember the point of why we're fighting is to protect these people (and loot obviously).

Destiny 2 Needs a True Horde Mode

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 11:34 AM PST

    Hear me out.

I know the concept exists in CoD, but the fundamental concept of defending against infinite legions of low level enemies (similar to zombies) could be awesome in the context of Destiny if implemented properly.Again, hear me out.

    Current Horde Modes

We have some stand on X plate objective or shoot x thing with y weapon to progress a bar and when the bar is complete? Boss.

    Why this works..but only kinda

While fun, it is ultimately an experience that just..ends... and you get loot. There's no concept of infinite or programmatic difficulty increases in this game..but why not? So, why not move forward with a zombies-styled horde with some more Destiny flair to it?

    The Proposition

An infinite horde style mode, but in a different way than our others have been. Zombies felt good in that it was very unlikely for anyone to die to one isolated, low health zombie...ever. BUT when 50 of them began to swarm you, their health bars didnt matter. It felt like you were mowing down crowds and crowds of people and it was just dumb fun in increasing numbers and difficulty over time. But why not take it a step further? There can be a base powerlevel for the activity that increases by some value as you progress and the later levels continue well into the 1000s the further you get. High exotic drop rates IN activity, and tiers of pinnacle drops for wave milestone (Maybe every 5?). The chaos and thrill of running away from literal armies of thrall could really keep players engaged and invested in character optimization for each of their teammates to account for the types of enemies they'll face. Maybe they have an option to investigate their vaults and change gear every 10 levels to account for the more powerful champions that show up in later rounds. So many options.

Give it an armor set with perks tailored to surviving in this horde mode with a stat-range floor, so this becomes a lucrative activity that rewards actually meaningful loot. Add loot incentives throughout or objectives other than "stand here and shoot things". The bus, as a concept, was so cool in zombies - what if we had to build a way to a new area or fortify a safehouse to keep us alive longer? In-game activities and objectives could keep this concept fresh for many weeks. In addition, it doesn't just have to be hive. It could change on a weekly rotation (so there wouldn't be players abandoning games on un-favorable enemy types - they'd be locked in) and each enemy type could have different objectives or armor/weapon types, making farming certain weeks desirable. There's an infinite amount of possibility when it comes to keeping this activity fresh, and it would be ideal to see a new map or area added to this gametype over time and this become THE persistent horde mode, instead of a new one each season. Those resources become allocated to optimizing this experience and allowing players to always have this infinitely scaling activity as a source of loot. With proper motivation and reward structure, this could appeal to both casual players and hardcore players as well.

Problems Solved By This New Mode

Difficulty is a huge piece. There's no reason currently to optimize gear or really pay attention to certain stats. Having an activity that scaled super high not only gives Destiny a fun party-ish mode to play with friends after a long day, but its also a rewarding, fresh source of loot. There's always a weapon or armor to serve as the carrot and even after obtaining all of the items, the exotic drops could be massively high at high levels - giving us the satisfaction of seeing exotics all over the floor as we progressed further and further.

It also opens the door to creative strategies and optimizations of builds or even team compositions.

There could even be rotating modifiers that truly increase the difficulty at higher levels (No supers past level 25, no heavy ammo drops, etc) and really cause the hardcore players to think critically about their loadouts, without punishing the casual crowd who just wants to enjoy the game mode and get some loot.

Maybe no weekly lockout on obtaining weapons/armor, but just a lockout on pinnacle level drops. Allows people to just play and the best of the best will have something to truly chase.

There could be leaderboards and the best of the best could duke it out for MONTHS to find the proper strategies to land that first place or even top 500 slot on the boards. Emblems and cosmetics surrounding the in-activity weapons could be an enormous driving factor for later rounds, and really allow the best of the best to LOOK like they're the best of the best.

There could even be a Seal associated with this.

And finally...its just fun. Who didn't enjoy playing zombies or Mass Effect/Gears styled hordes growing up. Even EP.

    The Conclusion

I think something like this could be good for D2. High intensity, incredible reward structure, and something that, if executed correctly, could easily appeal to all tiers of the playerbase. This is all off-top I'd love any additional feedback or suggestions here.

    Thanks for reading guys.

TL;DR - D2 needs a high intensity horde mode with great rewards, engaging objectives, rotating enemy types, and scaleable difficulty to account for all levels of skill and engagement. If executed properly this could become a mainstay in the D2 universe instead of receiving a new but ultimately less thought out horde mode each season.

Honesty, no one cares about your red dot but you.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 05:19 AM PST

Seriously. Raiding with report obsessed people is the worst. I spent more than an hour in Sotp and only got first encounter done. They skipped second because it was too hard.

First encounter took 6 tries because they demanded we "dupe orb"

Two attempts at a 3 stage dps on boss first phase because they demanded we do tank glitch. Got us stuck in a death loop, cried about a red dot on raid report and quit.

Every "pro/speedrun" group I've accidentally joined has been this bad. As a Rivensbane and a Blacksmith I'd much rather raid with people who have no idea than with report/optimisation obsessed people.

Can't we just like, play the game?

    /rant

Edit: this kinda blew up. Im glad. I was so worried i was the minority that I thought I'd get hatemail

Edit2: few people said they haven't done raids. Happy to sherpa (and actually have online friends :(. ). My GT is "A zen Viking". Its 2am and i work as the manager but I'm always down to sherpa some people or help out

Edit 3: holy shit my first ever gold. Whoever you are, thank you!

Edit 4; 230 am. Cant keep up with all the latest comments/clan invites/friend requests etc. It's all super appreciated. If i log on to xbox tomorrow with request and message I will slowly action them all, promise. Until then thank you all and be most excellent to each other

Edit 5: apparently a few people are annoyed by my edits. So here's another edit. Enjoy

"red dots" are referring to the unfinished raids on raid report

The biggest change in attitude from D1 to D2 now, has become doing mindless activities that are not enjoyable for the purpose of obtaining the majority of the new gear

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 09:07 AM PST

Edit: Damn Gold already! Thanks you beautiful guardian! I guess someone feels strongly about this as me! Really love Destiny at heart. Just want the best for the game

Keyword majority so please don't remind me of the Hadium flakes on the Dreadnought...(however those rewards were well worth the time and guess what...you can still go do them even today)

So much of this talk of FOMO, and Eververse, and what has become of the game. And while I tend to agree; I haven't seen anyone yet capture what that feeling was of playing D1 and why it's gone, despite the QOL upgrades to D2.

And then I started to think, when I logged on during each current season of D1, and went and did Vault of Glass or Crota or KF's or Wrath, it's because I physically enjoyed doing those raids with my friends or LFGers, and more importantly at the time it was made CLEAR that the endgame, once you built your monster killing machine, was these huge puzzles where you shoot (or razelight to death sorry Aksis) bad guys and bosses. The new gear and new weapons, at least the pinnacle ones you wanted, were in the endgame. Either in trials and iron banner for the PvPers, or in the raids (and Prison of Elders). When the new DLC's dropped, the new gear wasn't in a battle pass that is best obtained by completing bounties... and to those who say "the grind to reach 100 is not bad", I say...it shouldn't even exist in the first place and is not a good game design element in a game that prides itself on its raid team, who creates not only the expansive raids we see, but the endgame activities and secret weapon missions like Whisper and Outbreak.

My point in all of this is that Destiny has lost its feel. It really, truly feels like a free to play game (Versus making the game free) with the way this content is shaping up to look like. If you like this new season pass style, that's fine, everyone has their own opinions, but for me and clearly a lot of others, that magic of D1, that feeling of being excited to get home and log on to slay Oryx just for fun because I don't fear not completing bounties to get all the new stuff, or go for that flawless in trials to complete my ornament Vigil set...it's gone.

That feeling toyed with us in Forsaken, as that was a masterpiece of a DLC with solid supporting DLCs in retrospect, but Unless Bungie starts to make headway back to that cycle of doing things, mixed in with the good changes that D2 brought, then this "Complaining then praising Cycle" we all talk about, might just stay in a complaining state.

And before anyone says it, I know they aren't epic games, no one is working 100+ hours a week to make huge raids every DLC. Not asking for that. Just that they take a step back from this new approach to Destiny that really doesn't make it enjoyable. If they do stick to this, Something as simple as even awarding immense amounts of XP for completing raids and raid challenges, or flawlessing. More XP for the activities we enjoy playing.

Edit 2: For any other arguments about the "way of things" compare Forsaken and last year to now? What do you prefer? If you like parts of your seasonal content being tied to a battle pass than you're in one bucket. If you enjoy playing through all destiny has to offer in engaging activities than you're in another.

If the season pass was in addition to the content then it would be a separate matter. The fact is it's not. Picture Black Armory with everything it had to offer and the battle pass on top of it. That's totally acceptable. But it's not that. It's a substitute for activities. Imagine the Saint-14 armor set in the battle pass but you complete some type of new dungeon or raid lair or even a difficult new type of strike to obtain it.

It's a problem that people only want to run Strikes, Reckoning, Sundial, etc... when it's Heavyweight day. We need more "fun" modifiers. Why is it taking so long to bring back Small Arms, Specialist, and true Elemental Burns?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 09:24 AM PST

Right now it's neither fun nor rewarding to run strikes. If we're not getting Strike specific loot or scoring back any time soon then at least bring back some of the more popular D1 modifiers. Who thought it was a good idea to reduce burns to puny singes? Who decided we get heavyweight but not small arms or specialist? More questionable decision making that I can't find a lot of reasoning behind.

1.19 KDA and Bungie thinks I'm somehow good enough to face Unbrokens who have 2.0 averages? I swear, I'm not. Please give my bottom a rest.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 07:55 AM PST

The title is the tl:dr. The rest is a some venting and a call for some suggestions on playing 1v1, Elim, Survival and Rumble matches to better manage the nonsense. We good? We good.

I will preface this by embracing the absolute SALT eminating from my pores rn. If you need anything cured and preserved, come check me cause I've got the salt. It's a good thing I can still laugh it off at the end of it all.

It's been a long time since a videogame made me feel this kinda unnecessary frustration, prolly haven't felt this way since my days of playing UT04. Hell, even the nonsense my friends do in Modern Warfare 2019 doesn't even make me CONSIDER getting mad. I just tell them to try that on Shoot House and they decline and we all laugh because it's the only map I know. But back to D2, Skill Based Match Making and how Rumble almost broke me but I find Control is boring.

    These last few Rumble matches were nuts. I'm out here body shotting with Translation Theory 🤣 and squirrelling away when I can before I get nuked into next week, man. A couple lucky headshots with Hawthorne's here or there but at every corner it's just;

Jotunns, Handheld Super Novas, Erentils, Shotgun Aping, Shoulder Charges and people tell me one hit throwing knives are OP!? I guess I'll have to try them since no one was even running it as far as I could tell.

Hunter mains, how do I stop getting tumbled in Rumble? How do you keep your cool in all this chaos? Should I just slap on foetracer, vigilance wing/bygones, Erentil and some tracking power weapon?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 05:02 AM PST

I would really love it if we could stop with the selfish or even downright competitive goals in bounties in scenarios that should be otherwise co-operative.

You shouldn't haven't compete with your own team members for kill credit in a multiplayer game in 2020.

You shouldn't have some people throwing crucible or gambit matches because their bounties told them to kill with a specific weapon or to go for 15 motes all the time.

It causes so much unnecessary friction and frustration.

Has anyone noticed that enemies seem way "buggier" lately

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 12:02 PM PST

Been playing since launch and from time to time I've noticed you'll interrupt an enemies animation and they will kind stutter over a couple feet. Lately I've had enemies teleport across a room.

Enemies will be near death and magically get 1/4-1/2 their health back. Feels like with each update or content drop the games gets a little buggier especially on the newer maps with more details and enemies.

Tldr: Just curious if other have noticed this and I'm not going crazy.

Edit: also this has been on pc

Bungie, since you removed the stack limit on Phantasmal Fragments, why not do the same for Ghost Fragments?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 09:02 AM PST

Title basically. Ever since 2.7.1, Phantasmal Fragments no longer have a stack limit (great change), but so many things still do, for no real reason.

Loading into the tower is extremely long since update 2.7.1

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 01:09 PM PST

Ever since the new update I have experienced loading into the tower is insanely long! I am on PS4 Pro with SSD external and it was NEVER this long.

The update to the crucible loading screen/black screen issue has affected the tower loading. Loading into the tower is not taking an extra 30 seconds - it is taking 5 min now! Before the update I was loading into the lower in 60 seconds on average.

It needs to be looked at and changed as it seems to be another bug. This season has been so riddled with bugs it is starting to become a joke!

Interns must be working on this game or a dev team of 4 people!

I'm pretty sure the Crucible black screen fix affects loading into all activities, including the Tower.

It takes a lot longer to load into the tower now, and every time I do, there's a big explosion of people who load in all at the same time.

Dear Bungie - Can us colorblind folks change the color of our reticle?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 10:00 AM PST

Hey Bungie - First off, thanks so much for implementing colorblind options in Destiny. I can't tell you how helpful that is. As a 20+ year vet of MMORPG's and raiding I can't count the number of times I've heard a teammate yelling, "Kill the [insert color] enemy," while I proceed to scan the terrain like a potato unable to find said color.

That said one of my last remaining frustration that I experience daily as a colorblind person is constantly dealing with my reticle seemingly vanishing from the screen as it camouflages itself into the background.

Personally, I would prefer to turn my reticle into a bright yellow dancing banana so that I'd stop losing it, but I'd be willing to settle for the option to change it's color to something that better stands out for me. Or for the color of the reticle to auto change based on the colorblind choice the user selects in the settings. This would be a YUGE and welcome change for me and I'm sure other colorblind players.

    Thanks for your consideration!

    Optimized Bounties For 1/30/2020

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 10:02 AM PST

In the not too distant future,

    Somewhere on the internet,

    Deertrivia and DTG

Wait for resets with bated breath.

They need to do bounties to get some loot,

For a rewards track some think should get the boot.

They head to the Drifter and his bounties suck,

But they gotta do them anyway or else they're out of luck.

"I'll give them crappy bounties, the worst I can find. (La la la!)

They'll have to play normal Gambit, because envoys don't count in Prime!" (La la la!)

Now keep in mind, the players cannot know, if each day's bounties will be trash.

They'll try to keep their sanity by running Skullfort in Mayhem, SMASH!

    Bounty roll call:

    • Grenade kills!

    • Envoys!

    • Linear Fusion Kills!

    • Patroooools!

If you're wondering when to eat and pee,

    And other healthy facts,

Just repeat to yourself it's just a game,

    You should really just relax!

Use the Optimized Bounty Checklist, Three Thousaaaaaaand!

Step 1 - RENEW THE SHOW NETFLIX YOU COWARDS

Step 2 - Pick up the following bounties:

    Tower Bounties:

    • Saint XIV Daily – Fallen Down – Kill 50 Fallen
    • Saint XIV Daily – A Good Eye – 40 Precision Kills
    • Saint XIV Daily – One Shot – 20 Cabal Kills With Precision Damage
    • Saint XIV Daily – Psion Slayer – Defeat 1 Psyion Boss
    • Zavala Daily – Show Them The Light – 5 Super Kills in Strikes
    • Shaxx Daily – Sparring Grounds – Complete 2 Crucible Matches
    • Shaxx Daily – Standard Fare – Kill 5 Opponents With Kinetic Weapons
    • Shaxx Daily – Knockout Round - Kill 1 Opponent With Melee Ability
    • Shaxx Daily – Cast Early, Cast Often – Cast 7 Supers in Mayhem
    • Banshee Daily – Kinetic Calibration – Kill Shit With Kinetic Guns

Step 3 - Follow these steps, in any order:

    1. One Strike of your choice that will clear a Weekly. Could do Hive to clear Zavala's, could do Cabal to clear Zavala/Obelisk, could do Fallen for Saint/Obelisk. Your cup runneth over! Also note that some strikes, like Warden of Nothing and Strange Terrain, have multiple bosses for the "5 Strike Boss" Obelisk Weekly. (10-15 minutes)

    2. One Sun Dial, to finish off Cabal Obelisk weekly and Saint's dailies. (15 minutes)

    3. One regular Crucible match, and one Mayhem match. (20 minutes)

Total Non-Elemental Non-Weapon-Specific Bounties Cleared: 10 Daily, 2-3 Weeklies, and you're probably nearing your Crucible Weeklies as well.

    Total Time: 50-ish minutes.

Note 1: Drifter, your bounties are bad, and you should feel bad.

Note 2: We were spoiled yesterday by Eris and Devrim. No really great planetary sets today.

What happened to ViDOCs before a new season/DLC?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 03:29 AM PST

We got one before Black Armory, Season of Drifter, Shadowkeep. Has Bungie stopped doing them?

Edit: Wow. I did not expect this post to get this much attention. Maybe bungie can give is a ViDoc now to just update us on whats going on for the future of this game?

    Made the switch

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 07:29 PM PST

I just made the switch to pc, and holy moly the load times compared to console are unbelievable, I don't think I'll ever be able to go back.

I wish I could tell Zavala that I'm not the hero he thinks I am. I didn't John Wick my way through the Cabal ranks for him, the tower, or even the traveler. I did it for my lost guns!
