Twitch Prime Rewards are now available in Destiny 2!

Bungie has teamed up with Twitch Prime to deliver in-game rewards to any player with an active Twitch Prime membership. Once you have your membership (if not, start your free trial here), visit this page and link your Bungie.net account to start receiving your six monthly gear drops. Each drop will contain four rewards, including Exotic weapons, Ghosts, ships, Sparrows, emotes, and weapon ornaments from previous Seasons.

The first gear drop will run from now until February 25 and will include the SUROS Regime, the Coup de Main Ornament, the Skyline Flipside Exotic Ghost Shell, and the unsecured/OUTCRY Exotic ship.

When a gear drop is available, eligible players can claim the rewards here. Once claimed, follow a visual indicator to Amanda Holliday in the Tower's hangar. Amanda will have the rewards available in her inventory. As long as you claim the rewards on the Twitch Prime page by 10:00 AM on the last day of the drop, the gear will still be available from Amanda after the deadline.

As a developer who has had to rollback features, well done

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 09:01 AM PST

It seems like this is the first time bungie has ever had to rollback database changes. Being able to restore the user accounts after a big change was awesome. It takes forever but I'm glad you guys had policies and procedures in place that worked!

EDIT: Thanks for the gold! I'm also glad for all the positivity around the thread from others in IT!

If it takes 3x Ascendant Shards to upgrade a piece of exotic armour then would it be fairer to increase the attributes by +6 rather than +2? Or give us MW Exotic Catalysts for armour?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 05:00 AM PST

With Ascendent Shards being is such short supply it's really hard justifying the upgrade costs of master working exotic armour.

I really hope Bungie look at the exotic upgrade costs, perhaps look at increasing the number of attribute points or even look at something more exciting like the MW Exotic weapons catalyst system whereby it increases a stat substantially or adds a small bonus perk?!

I would be happy to have RNG MW Catalysts like on weapons as it would add another level of loot to chase.

The relationship between anti-Champion mods, Exotic primary ammo weapons, and Legendary special ammo weapons is a bigger problem for me than FOMO, Bounties, or Eververse.

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 07:17 AM PST

After the servers came back up last night* I excitedly booted up the game to try out the non-shaky Hard Light. I dropped into a 920 Ordeal with Hard Light; Blast Furnace (Anti-Barrier) for the first half and Patron of Lost Causes (Unstoppable) for the second; and 21% Delirium. I have always loved Hard Light conceptually but the screen shake made me sick. The shake has been fixed, the aim assist is through the roof, and the gun feels like a laser. It's great!

But I don't think I will ever use it. At this point in the season I spend most of my PVE time doing 950/980 Ordeals (for materials), Legendary Sundials (for Pinnacle weapons), and a raid here or there when I have the time.

Hard Light should be a natural fit for 950+ Ordeals/Legendary Sundial (when Match Game is active) but I have a hard time making it work. Usually when I use a Primary energy weapon I like to have a Special ammo kinetic to take down powerful enemies (eg, Rapid Hit + Explosive Round Dreaded Venture). But if I have a Special ammo kinetic weapon and Hard Light I won't have any anti-champion weapons. I'm a fairly average player so in 950 this might be OK but in 980 it would make the Ordeal very difficult for my team. Probably god-tier players could get by just fine.

So instead of my usual sniper rifle I equip an anti-Champion Primary ammo Kinetic to go along with Hard Light. That's fine, it will get the job done for the most part but now I'm back to using a boring Y1 loadout. Two Primary ammo weapons and a Heavy. I'll be fine but not very much fun. It would be nice to be able to have a Special ammo weapon ...

... which is when I go back to using Borealis. It has the same utility as Hard Light (shield popping for Match Game) and packs a punch to take down more powerful enemies. I'm still restricted to one Anti-Champion weapon but at least I can deal more damage.

These are the kinds of trade-offs I'm constantly making and why I rarely use Primary ammo Exotic weapons and Special ammo Legendary weapons. If I bring an Exotic into an 950+ Ordeal it's going to be Leviathans' Breath , Devil's Ruin, Divinity**, Eriana's Vow, or Iziniagi's Burden (with Catalyst).

I don't need to tell you what each of these has in common. Only two of these weapons give me the flexibility to comfortably use a Special ammo Legendary weapon (LB and DR) and those to are also (arguably) the weakest weapons in that set and lose a lot in boss damage, add clear, or safely shooting at range. IB doesn't have anti-Champion properties but it makes up for that in raw power. My current preferred load out for 980s is Unstoppable Blast Furnace, EV, and 21% Delirium. It's fine but gets boring. If I want to switch things up I have to make some serious sacrifices.

I am framing the discussion about weapons along with the other common complaints that I listed in the title because those issues don't personally discourage me from playing Destiny 2 (that's a topic of another post) but the restrictive load out issue does. I realized these restrictions were a real problem for me when I was doing Scourge and thought "oh wow, finally an activity where I don't have to worry about my weapons." That's a weird thought to have in a raid in my opinion. The same goes for GoS where you only ever need one anti-Champion weapon at a time. I was able to use Loaded Question again! It was great.

Of course, restrictive weapon load outs have and probably always will be a thing. There will always be weapons IB, Divinity, Wendigo/Swarm/Love&Death that are more desirable than others and that's fine. But typically I just need one of those for damage phase and don't have have this weird shuffle where I have to make major sacrifices to my play style and weapon choices depending on which one I choose.

I enjoy the challenge Champions introduce for an average player like me. They can be a real pain in the ass to deal with even in a coordinated fireteam (those two Barrier Champions in the 980 Insight Terminus with Attrition were brutal, in a good way) but the restrictions they bring along with them are not fun. At first I enjoyed the way I was forced to use weapons I wouldn't normally use (I got more use out of hand cannons last season than I normally would) but long-term the trade-offs don't feel worthwhile.

My suggestion: all Exotic primary ammo weapons should have intrinsic anti-Champion traits (Hard Light/Graviton would be excellent anti-Barrier, Ace of Spades/Sunshot could be Unstoppable, etc)

Special ammo anti-Champion traits should be tied to high-energy, non-artifact armor mods. For example: four-energy Arc Helmet mod would grant Unstoppable properties to any shotgun you have equipped and a six-energy helmet mod applies the same effect to all special ammo weapons. This way there is still a cost to having anti-Champion coverage but will allow me to still mix up my load outs without feeling like I'm making a huge sacrifice.

TL;DR Champions severely limit the utility of Primary ammo Exotic and Special ammo Legendary weapons and lead to boring load outs that restrict experimentation and lead to stale approaches to end-game content.

*thank you to all the devs who were scrambling on the back end to get things fixed, I'm sure yesterday was all kinds of ass

**it's also worth mentioning that I encounter Overload Champions so infrequently that Divinity also usually stays in the vault (except for Gambit).

I love the Hard Light patch but...

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 07:44 AM PST

Why does an exotic with a perk that says ROUNDS OVERPENETRATE not count as having anti barrier rounds? It seems like this would be a perfect fit for the weapon.

If Season of *Spoiler* is true, the emote we need

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:36 AM PST

is a Titan to pull out a void shield with its left hand, call the sun hammer to his right hand then raise that hand to the sky to a lightning strike to him (or at least sparkle some arc around him/her).

    It's the emote we need.

Massive Tower Load Times on Console

Ever since the patch drop and fixes that came out the other day I will get massively long load times to the tower every now and then. Seems to be very random but I've taken to quitting my character and trying to reload it takes so long. Anyone else getting issues like this since yesterday?

No bright dust item in the store should cost more than the amount of bright dust you can reasonably earn in a week.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 10:44 PM PST

You can earn 3,600 bright dust doing the main weekly bounties from Crucible, Vanguard, and Gambit on all 3 characters. Not too difficult but certainly time consuming.

The new galloping knight emote costs 4,250. While it is amazing, and props to the developers who worked on it, that is a ridiculous amount of bright dust for a single emote.

You'd have to do 65 bounties on top of the main weekly bounties for all 3 characters to be able to afford it.

980 Hunts don't operate like NF. You don't need to kill the champions

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 05:03 PM PST

And you still get the pinnacle reward on clear. Kill the nightmares to open the blocked doors. Continue progressing through. Just a heads up to help speed up your runs.

Speaking of, you don't need to kill them for speed runs either. Though in a few instances it helps.

Why is the armor we get from crucible tokens/any other activity purposefully worse than the season pass armor?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 05:39 PM PST

Just give us better stats for buying the pass or something, at least give us a chance. Thousands of tokens used and not one piece of armor had better stats than righteous armor.

1KV, Anarchy, and Tarrabah droprates are bad but at least they gave me reasons to run raids every week

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 06:36 AM PST

I think I've done GoS like six times total and I just have no drive to go in there and do it again.

Hell I go back and play Scourge more than I do Garden just because some of my clan doesn't have Anarchy yet

Edit: This isn't meant to be a "Bungie bad" post. Just a thought I had and wanted to discuss.

Double edit: To be clear I'm not asking Bungie to do anything here. If anything I'd rather see an RNG system in place but if you don't get the drop you get a token and every token you have increases your chances for getting the drop next time by like 5%

I get that Mayhem is supposed to be the fun "go nuts" mode, but it's really hard to have fun when you're stuck in a spawn loop getting killed by the same Blade Barrage over and over again while you slowly wait for your Super to charge.

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 07:55 AM PST

Something I found while digging in the Custom Games tab is that when starting a Mayhem Clash game you can alter the super charge speed. Normally it's 15 seconds. It can be extended to 30 seconds and it can be tightened to just 3 seconds.

With how Shards of Galanor function in-game, it essentially grants that 3 second cooldown for all BB users. Yes it's supposed to be fun and cool, and I want people to have fun, but it's really hard to play and enjoy Mayhem when you get spawn farmed by the same BB user that re-casts their Super immediately after using it. If everyone had the ability to charge their Super in an instant then it would be more balanced for being able to shut BB down.

Solo One-Phasing the Nightmare (Hunt version) of Phogoth with Three back-to-back Nova Bombs

    Backstory / Idea

On 21 Dec 2019, I posted this about doing 300K damage from inadvertently getting another super from ranking up the season pass, right after using a previous Super

Back when The Dawning Event was happening, I realized it was very easy to reproduce this via ranking up via weekly bounties. Weekly bounties give about 24,000 XP. Dawning weeklies gave x2 of the weekly XP, or 48,000. However, the one major thing was also the Well Rested weekly reset buff.

After every weekly reset, you get a buff called 'well rested', which doubles every source of XP you get for your first 5 levels of the season pass earned that week. This would make a weekly Dawning bounty give 96,000xp with the well rested buff.

So initially I got way too ambitious, and tried solo killing the Pit of Heresey final boss using back-to-back Nova Bombs. I was using the Warlock Exotic Apotheosis Vale as it gives you full health back upon popping your super so I wouldn't die in-between popping a few bounties to get my full super back from ranking up the pass. The one inconsistent thing with this idea was trying to get From the Depths to Proc on every super, without dying. It didn't work at all.

In the end I just solo instance'd the Nightmare Hunt of Phogoth, put on the Supreme Nightmare Banisher mod (Greatly increased super damage against Nightmare Bosses), and just decided to kill Phogoth this way.

    Other

You can Golden Gun (bottom tree) + Celestial Nighthawk your own Divinity Debuffed enemy if you fire GG fast enough. Base damage is 290,000 without any singe modifiers w/ the Divinity Debuff still active. With either a solar singe modifier active, or having a Nightmare Essence and killing a Nightmare Boss with this (Ex: Altars of Sorrow), this does 450,000 damage w/ the Divinity Debuff still active.

Hey Bungie can we have a Crucible armor set that is just as pristine as the Crucible Pinnacle/Ritual weapons?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 02:13 PM PST

The color schemes of LH/NF, Revoker, MountainTop, and Redrix's Claymore/Broadsword are just so simple and stylish. The shiny white, the bright red, and the occasional splash of black just make them all so sexy. They look like Shaxx kept them in his refrigerator.

Meanwhile the armor is...., ugh. From my perspective as a fashionable Hunter...... it just looks dirty in comparison. Wing Contender looks like dusty homeless apparel, and the Swordflight armor looks like someone just spray painted a body suit.

Can we got some Crucible armor that looks as good as the weapons we chase? Maybe armor that is actually armor, with solid pieces instead of just cloth everywhere. And for the love of the Traveler make it symmetrical. Thanks.
