New light players, pick up WormGod from Xur this week so you can also just stare at it in your inventory. Just like us veteran players.

With Upgrade Modules Becoming More Useful Starting Next Season, Can We Please Have Them Stack Higher Than 25 Bungie?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 09:44 AM PST

It's just an annoying thing. They unnecessarily take extra slots and inventory slots are already pretty limited/scarce. Can we have Modules stack to 50 or 100 per stack?

    Thanks. Happy Valentine's Day.

To that random Celestial Nighthawker in Altar of Sorrows

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 09:00 PM PST

Hi there. This is that Slova Bomb Warlock you 2-manned the Altar with. That was hype af. Honestly I didn't think much would come out of two random guardians having a try at the Altar, but we pulled through, and that was incredible. Even if all I got out of that was a trash Blasphemer with hipfire grip and some other perk I wasn't paying attention to before I had already sharded it.

Honest to god I wasn't paying attention to the boss, so when the timer suddenly stopped my heart sank for a few seconds, only to realize you nuked the thing with a Nighthawk shot for the win.

Popcorn Chicken, you're amazing, and I'm proud to have held my own alongside you. Hope you got a decent Blasphemer out of that, and hope you enjoy your Crimson Days.

And to anyone who says Fighting Lion is trash in PvE, y'all have yet to witness ascendancy.

EDIT: oof, "Altars of Sorrow", not "Altar of Sorrows". That's gonna bug me forever lmao

Isn't it about time Rocket Launchers were looked at?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 07:17 AM PST

Despite the other issues the game has right now I think most of us can agree this is probably the best pve balancing/meta we've seen in quite a while (Good job bungie!). We're seeing nearly all weapon types being used. Even swords are being reworked for next season. Whilst there's some basis for arguing the artifact is forcing us to use weapons we don't want to, the fact that we run endgame content using these weapons goes to show their viability. We're seeing scouts, pulses, one 2 punch shotguns, snipers, sidearms, smgs, lmg's and nade launchers all as viable endgame options. Honestly all that's left is Rocket launchers. Since the autoreload nerf the one use launchers had (riven cheese) is no longer viable. It's a shame to see an entire weapon type be neglected as they have.

While we're on the topic of pve balance I'll just throw out the idea of slight auto rifle buffs, reverting the trench barrel nerf and having a look at fusion rifles too. Fusions had a brief surge of use at the start of this season due to the scavenger bug so I don't think we're far off. Might just be a case of too little ammo? 1kv comes to mind with its 7 ammo capacity.

Edit: Been reading through the comments alot of which have great ideas. It's reminded me of how positively people reacted to deathbringer last season. By no means was it amazing but it was definitely a fun gun (which as of late I've barely seen used) but goes to show how enjoyable and well receieved rocket launchers can be. Of course it's not like im unaware of wardcliff and truth. Both are great rl's in their own right. I just think it's the legendary variants that really need help

Tower Thought: It feels weird that Perfect Paradox was Saint-14's legendary weapon, which we gave him in another timeline, but that now I have like 1,000 of them

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 10:18 AM PST

Guy: "Wow, there goes Saint-14, the most prolific and honorable Titan there ever was. And there's his gun, the famed Perfect Paradox, wielded in justice throughout the system to bring evil to its knee. Incredible. How did he come by such a bender of will and time?"

Me: "Lolol I have no idea, man, I got 75 of those things for free in about 35 seconds. Can't remember which one I'd given him. I think I actually gave him like a really shitty roll, too haha. Whatever, I sharded the rest and barely remember any of it happened. Whatever."

We finally completed the Leviathan Raid!!

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 03:51 AM PST

So, this will seem like pretty insignificant news to 99% of readers, but last night, the VasDown clan finally defeated the leviathan raid after an incredibly long journey!

We're a small group of friends and family, mostly aged in our 30's. We mostly can't get online at the same time, due to commitments (partners, family, work etc), but every Thursday night we have a small window of time where we generally all manage to make it online.

Most of the group have played Destiny 2 since release, so this has been a 2.5 year journey for them. I'd burnt out on D1, but started playing with New light - settled right back into the usual grind.

Over the last couple of months, we've got closer and closer to the boss fight, nailing down the strategies for each encounter and improving every week with our couple of hours online. Then we did it, we reached the final encounter. On our first time reaching Calus, it was already way too late, and we tried a few runs at him before some of us had to go to bed due to work commitments.

We were sure that we'd complete it the next time, we had nailed the encounters pretty much, we just had to beat the boss. Thursday night came round, and we all started preparing. All but one of us anyway - our 'leader' had decided to take a pre-raid nap, and didn't wake up till it was too late. Punishment was swift and he stepped down as leader, which led to a nail-biting vote the following day to elect a new leader (we don't really have leaders, it's just a laugh). This resulted in a coalition, with 2 leaders getting equal numbers of votes. But despite the excitement, we were all deflated that we still hadn't beaten Calus.

On top of this, one of our guys runs an Xbox one X, which absolutely crashes in this raid 100% of the time, when entering the gauntlet run and during the final boss fight.

A couple more weeks and failed attempts passed, then last night we were all on time and ready to go. It wasn't our best run, failing on some of the encounters which we had been able to breeze through the previous week. It wasn't looking great. Our man on the One X crashed yet again, right on cue. He jumped straight on to xCloud and started playing on his phone instead.

Then it happened. An almost perfect boss encounter. After a couple of failures it just all fell into place, and Calus finally fell to our light.

Like I said to begin with, this will be a small achievement in most people's eyes, but it had been a huge challenge and journey for the VasDown boys, and we finally nailed it. It quickly reminded us all why we love the destiny raid experiences, and has left us hungry for more. We still have so many challenges to complete, all of the other raids and dungeons etc.

So now the work begins again. See you next Thursday guardians.

TLDR: after 2.5 years our group of grown men squealed with delight after finally finishing the leviathan, and we loved every minute of it.

EDIT: Thank you very much for the Reddit gold, internet stranger! I have limited knowledge on its use, but it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

As a predominantly PvE player, what makes people so stoked about the Trials?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 03:19 PM PST

DISCLAIMER: This is a genuine question and not a criticism or snark or any kind.

I ask because I know there are a lot of other players out there like myself that just aren't really into PvP and only (begrudgingly) enter the Crucible when required for quests or overall character progression and ruin all of your matches with our Jotunn.

New maps are nifty and we all love good gear, but it seems like the PvP model is pretty similar by nature. Is it just excitement about new content in general?

    Redrix's Claymore Painting

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 03:38 PM PST

Redrix's Claymore - 22x13" version (original 30x18" mixed media on canvas).

    It's REDrix's for Crimson Days.

Finished this one back in Spring 2019 in the run up to Guardiancon2019, sprinting to finish as many paintings as I could before the event. To my great dishonor, I did not have this gun when I did this painting. But I got it during the run-up to the MMXIX title (and got Recluse on the same win, woot).

I know there are lots of things to say about every crucible weapon, every loadout, every meta, every map, every mode... But man, Destiny is the game that really hooked me on PVP. I hadn't played much since Halo with roommates back in 2002-3 and some CS a loooong while after it came out.

    Anyway. Enjoy Crimson Doubles, Guardians!

I miss the times when I could look forward to Xur every Friday.

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 12:50 PM PST

New Light player here. When I first started my journey to become the very best guardian like no one ever was, Xur was a time that I could look forward to. But after we acquire all the exotics we want, we pretty much forget about his existence. I wish that veterans had a reason to visit him weekly as well. Maybe he could sell random exotic catalysts or ornaments.

Edit: I'm sure that those of you that have been playing for much longer than have it even worse. Ouch.

    “Traveler’s Heart” happy Crimson Days!

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 03:59 PM PST

New Light player here. This game is a banger.

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 04:47 PM PST

    BUT

The introduction questline was overwhelmingly bad. Good thing I had a friend to help guide me. I then leveled to 900 solo with zero clue about the characters after the prep talk on what's what and what should be prioritized etc.

Played a lot and got into the story more from YouTube - The Red War campaign was much more interesting while also gradually introducing you to the planetary vendors and the vanguard. Why remove that default?

Only Iron Banner and Reckoning III offer high stat gear consistently. You've given us F2P players enough great content but it leaves a sour taste knowing my activities have such a low % chance of giving me useful gear. Not to mention how cool old gear looks and I can't use it cuz stats or just simply because you have your ornament system. I'm stuck with less than 55 stat rolls most of the time unless I do Banner. Reckoning gear doesn't even have ornaments. I just want to customise my character. It's an MMO. A big part of an MMO is making your character all fancy shmancy.

The ornament system means everyone has like 3 to 4 sets from Eververse and that's all the transmogs (From WoW - appearance) I see. Lemme mog damn it.

950 Nightfalls should be matchmade. Why not? There's always gonna be people struggling whatever the activity is. It's normal. I don't complete every Menagerie in time and that's fine. It's no Raid. Keep the 980s and Raids the way they are.

I made a thread a while ago but I don't understand why lock up the mid tree talents. I wish I could pay for them ONLY at least.

Xur with the low stats also kind of pisses me off tbh.

Other than all of that I've invested tons of hours since Late November when I started playing...

Escalation Protocols and Menagerie are my favourite activities - the incentive to upgrade my gear and make different builds comes from the question "How much faster can I slaughter the hordes of enemies?" Hell I even like Reckoning. Horde modes are my shit.

The Crucible is good fun, I used to think of it like Overwatch (gunplay with abilities) but the diversity potential is huuge. Shame the meta loadout gets stale a bit (I wonder if consistent patching every couple of weeks with tweaks like in League of Legends would be a good idea).

    Love Gambit, Fuck Machine Guns.

I'm currently thinking of trying the LFG Discord for Leviathan as it is the only content I have yet to experience. Well that and 980 Nightfalls.

    “The physics of Hawthorne”

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 10:01 PM PST

For some reason, in the mission "combustion", Hawthorne at the end uses the same physics that HVT chests use. That means that if you stand far enough away that your weapons aren't disabled, and use a rocket launcher (or mountaintop), you can push her off the edge.

The information isn't in the least bit helpful, but I've wanted to kill Hawthorne ever since she moved into the tower.

I just bought the Getaway Artist ornament with bright dust, and it looks awesome. Honestly, if i could've previewed how it looked with shaders like a month ago when it was only available for silver, i probably would've dropped some real $$$ for it.

Bungie, you have too many currencies. Let's get rid of some of the less used ones like you are going to with fractaline.

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 08:07 PM PST

Hell, even some consumables are useless too. Why do I have to get finest matterweave when dismantling stuff that then forces me to kill something to get a core? Can't you just give me the core? Same thing with concentrated mattergem and upgrade modules.

[Crucible] A quick story about clan [O_o]

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 03:30 PM PST

I loaded into a game and apparently there had only been one other person or something. That person left and it was just me vs 5 clan members and a non-clan members.

I sat and they all came and did emotes and sat with me. They waited until the match filled out again (over a minute), let the newcomers cap 2 points to catch up a bit, and only then started playing the match.

Class act, you lot. If Exo's could cry, this one might have. Shaxx is proud, I am sure.

For all the complaining about sweaty people and crappy matches, there's this too.
