I hope they remember about the one Immortal Guardian that is stuck on the Almighty :(

Theory: The Almighty hitting Earth is a MUCH bigger problem than we initially thought.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 04:21 PM PST

To put into perspective how much bigger; if the Almighty were to collide with Earth, it would undoubtedly obliterate all life, destroy the City, maybe the Traveler and the planet itself, and likely final-kill a massive chunk of the Guardian population. This is a worse problem than that.

So we know the Cabal can move moons. They moved Phobos into a much closer orbit of Mars to speed it up so they could fling it at Earth should the need arise. So why a collision course with the Almighty instead of flinging a moon?

Because The Almighty contains a black hole.

In the lore page No Rez for the Weary, a Ghost explains that his Guardian attempted to disable the Almighty by diving into its core. "He is still lunging. Fly to the Almighty and you will find him there, caught in the amber of slow time, reaching forever. I have observed his motions carefully. He will arrive at the mechanism and deactivate the trap in only a little more than fifty thousand years."

If a person were to jump into a black hole with a friend watching from the outside, the jumper would be observed to fall forever but slow down infinitely and never actually reach the black hole, due to the way they distort gravity and in turn light around them. Just as appears to be happening to this Guardian.

When a black hole eats stellar/planetary matter, it spits it out after some time in the form of enormous relativistic jets of hot plasma at near the speed of light, which can travel for lightyears. The Almighty chews up bits of Mercury, then fires a giant laser into the sun.

That's how the Almighty works. It generates a stabilized black hole upon arriving in the target system, the "wings" direct its gravity to pull matter off a planet or other celestial body into the center where the black hole is housed, then a focusing apparatus directs the resulting plasma jets to fire in whatever direction the ship is aimed, in our case into the sun. Therefore, if the Almighty hits Earth, the contained black hole would destabilize, and the sudden appearance of a second stellar-mass gravity well would rip the entire system apart.

Finest Matterweaves are just enhancements cores with extra steps

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 11:46 AM PST

Bungie should just grant us the 1 core every time it drops. There is too much pointless button pushing in this game and this is an easy fix to this issue.

If you use anything but 3 Rat Kings in Trials, you're a coward

Imagine the sheer menace you'd exude with flawless gear and the three of you with the meme-iest of sidearms.

People would disconnect immediately, their virgin Recluse unable to cope with the chad King.

Please - after 18 Crucible resets this season, I have fewer upgrade materials than I could get from TWO lucky 980s. Please, allow us to Matchmake 950 and 980 NFs. Or give a daily bounty to play X Nightfalls or X Crucible matches for X Prisms. Please.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 08:59 AM PST

LFG from a third party app doesn't always work. Or my guildmates arent always available. EDIT: Did Not mean to exclude Gambit from the request.

TLDR: Please let us have the option to matchmake the higher NFs. Or, Please allow us a consistent way to farm upgrade materials. I have 18 crucible resets this season (at least according to the warmind bot - I didn't count them). Equivalent to about 1.8 Golfball upgrade pieces. I can't even masterwork 2 pieces of armor with that. You can actually get more than this with two lucky 980 runs. TWO. I'm using most of my fractiline to farm cores instead of weapons. A daily or weekly bounty to play X matches for X prisms would help, but honestly I would prefer to be able to play the harder NFs. I enjoy them.

    The long version:

Yes the NFs are hard-ish. Yes sometimes you can draw less than favorable teammates. But I am an adult and can take failure. I dont know what the data you guys have shows about 920 completion rates, but I don't recall failing a single 920 this season. Us randoms can probably grok out how to do 980s on our own. The few times I have been lucky enough to do 980s with LFG I was able to carry some less experienced players through. It is doable. An option to require completing X many 920s first before you can matchmake the higher ones would be ok I guess. EDIT: And as others have pointed out the option to enter solo or with less than a full team and not be forced to join with others could still be an option.

Respectfully - LFG doesn't always work. Or I just don't want to do it. I have every second of my day calandared and meetinged and conference-called and negotiated and lunched and dinnered and emergencied. Just opening my weekly calendar scours away part of my soul. And then I come home and get wifed and kidded and handymanned and tech-supported.

I would really like to not have to LFG schedule my one freedom from schedules.

Yes, obviously I play for fun whether the rewards are good or not. But Masterwork armor is a big deal. And I have no reliable way to do It.

Masterwork armor makes the most difference in PVP and Gambit, and its the two places you cannot get it.

    Thank you.

EDIT: And since it seems to be the highlight of the comments section: I know it will surprise some of you, but many solo players use proper loadouts and can do 980 content. As long as 1 person has an Osmosis weapon, one person can carry all 3 elements and one person can help along inexperienced teammates. There are Many loadouts that work. Divinity and Izzys are not required. Give us a little credit, will you?

So far, my only complaint is that the new warmind weapons don't follow the Ikelos pattern

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 05:58 PM PST

Frankly, I would have loved to have seen an auto rifle in the same body type as Sleeper and the Ikelos Handcannon/Sniper/Shotgun/SMG. In that same vain it was dissapointing when the Meneagrie weapons look like Calus had a bunch of 12 year old girls working an assembly line to put jewels and sequins on the weapons as opposed to the sleek and sexy offerings from the first few raids.

I suppose going that route, a weapon skin to make them look like Ikelos weapons would be awesome or to make weapon skins for the old Warmind weapons to represent updated models.

Legit Question: Why don't patrol spaces also use the underground locations that are IMMENSE? *COUGH* Temple of Crota...

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:55 AM PST

I had to go hunt down the horned wreath for one of the Lecturn weapons. That took me down into the Temple of Crota....and HOLY FREAK that place is HUGE!

I finally found it and then was left wondering...why don't patrol areas use these underground locations?

Patrol takes us into the same locations for public events and farming a few enemies here or there, but many of the locations have huge underground areas that could be used as another patrol space.

I've heard people talk about the Arcology on Titan. Another beautiful space currently being wasted because other than a strike and couple of missions, nothing really takes us there. Again, put a patrol landing zone, a public event or two, and let us have some variations to where we go.

I think that with the "evolving world" and Luke's comment about moving towards more world events, I'd love to see these events taking place in these expansive areas and NOT just the regular patrol zones we've been using for 2+ years now.

New Players: The Fourth Horseman's Rate of Fire is absurd

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 10:07 AM PST

I have seen a lot of people (correctly) saying that The Fourth Horseman is a full-auto shotgun when talking about its return.

What I have not seeing is anyone adequately conveying how fast that gun fired, since it's not really comparable to what we have now in D2 and I think exceeds even what we had with IKELOS in its heyday.

I pulled up an old demonstration video I made for a friend back in D1 to illustrate this.
    https://youtu.be/bjnC7fgZQy
1st Gun: Binary Dawn, no full auto (excited for Trinary Dawn or whatever they're calling the new version next season)
2nd Gun: Party Crasher+1 with full auto
3rd Gun: Invective, single shots and then full auto
4th Gun: Fourth Horseman in Full Auto

I am hoping they keep it this stupidly fast.

Year 3 story so far. (After Shadowkeep campaign)

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 05:56 AM PST

    TLDR

We found an artifact during Shadowkeep that gave us spoopy messages and told us to go through a portal to the black garden.

In the garden we fought the sol divisive (the religious vex that are kept seperate because vex separation of church and state) and killed the vex pope, then that ended the trail of the artifact.

Then the undying mind decided to say hi, so Ikora said "Fuck it, we are gonna kill this thing, even though it can copy itself throughout timelines"

We did the vex offensive and kind of kept back the sol divisive (so it was a crusade, but the real question is who was doing the crusading?) and then after a bunch of weeks Ikoras portal was done.

When the portal was done, we started brute forcing the undying mind, and we yeeted every last one of them.

    Begin season of dawn.

Except there was one problem with that. Killing all the undying minds fucked up the timeline, screwing with mercury.

Meanwhile, Osiris, with the help of the Drifter, built a time machine to save Saint-14, except he failed.

Turns out 3 psions got into the sundial and started messing with it, trying to find a way to redo the red war to where Gaul would have won.

We did a bunch of stuff with time travel, and that culminated in saving Saint-14.

Saint decides to build a beacon to bring more guardians, so we start building with fractaline.

During this, all 3 psions did the fusion dance, and became Inotam.

We killed Inotam, destabilizing the sundial, rendering it useless (in lore, not for gameplay purposes though)

Then towards the end, we finished building the beacon/lighthouse.

    Begin season of the worthy

One of the psions somehow did not die (most likely the younger one) and turned off the almighty's thrusters and stuff, so it is now drifting in a crash course toward earth.

From what it looks like, we will have to get the help of Rasputin and his bionicles to blow it up before it wipes out the planet.

Glitched inside of the Calus Throne World!

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 10:02 PM PST

    I finally did it!

This has been a bucket-list item for me since I first ran the Leviathan. It was such a cool area and I always wanted to explore it for more than the 30 seconds it took for Calus to suck me off the edge.

Now, unfortunately, the method we used to get into the Throne World has to remain a secret. My glitches tend to get patched pretty quick, so I want to see where else I can use this before that happens.

Anyway, there isn't much to see down there. But it is nice to be able to explore without your impending doom and frantically calling out forehead tattoos.

    Here's a 2-minute video of the exploration:

This has been discussed before, but it would be awesome to have a rotating raid playlist, just like the NF: Ordeal situation.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:48 AM PST

Imagine being able to play back some of the older raids, at a higher difficulty than normal. I bet adding champions / higher light would make some older raid encounters extremely sweaty. Imagine playing the baths encounter with barrier champions instead of bathers.. I'm sure there are many more examples of how this could get wild. Streamers and other thrill seekers would love it.

Handle it like the NF: Ordeal..

    • Select Light Level

    • Increased Difficulty

    • Champions / Elemental Singes / Debuffs (Grounded, etc.)

    • INCREASED CHANCE of exotics / Ascendent Shards

Raid Weapons should have 3 traits and Armor should always be 65+ stats.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:31 AM PST

This is just a quick post that I thought might work well to make raid gear highly sought after again like back in the day. Datto brought up an interesting point that raiding isn't really worth it because the weapons and armor have mediocre stats and rolls compared to easy farming like sundial weapons that are much better.

I know the idea that raid armor should always be 65+ stats isn't new, I just figured I should include it so that the post doesn't become just about weapons.

Weapons on the other hand, have lost a lot of their luster. I hate to be that guy that says D1 good D2 bad, but I do believe that raid weapons in D1 were more unique and sought after than their D2 counterparts. Everybody wanted a Fatebringer, Black Hammer had a unique perk at the time. While Sacred Provenance being the only pulse rifle to roll with rapid hit is good, it's just not as shiny and cool as a completely unique weapon (especially when I've gotten 13 Sacred Provenances and not a single one has rapid hit, definitely not salty).

So, I propose that each raid weapon gets a 3rd perk. It doesn't necessarily have to be something special like white nail on the black hammer, but maybe just and extra chance to roll with a perk that you want, maybe you could get a Omniscient Eye with Snapshot, Rampage AND opening shot. Just a little something to give the raid weapons a bit more kick and make them sought after again.

I realize that every weapon can't have unique, game-breaking perks like pinnacle weapons. That would be unbalanced. I'm simply trying to come up with an idea to make raid weapons actually worth the grind instead of just sitting at the tower and pressing A 100 times to get a god roll Perfect Paradox. If anyone have any other ideas, I'd like to hear them.

I am sure our guardian will succeed in saving the last city from the almighty... but I still hope the almighty crashes in the cosmodrome and it becomes a new area to explore.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 12:25 AM PST

    With that said,

    1. I know a world change that massive is a lot of effort and mainly reserved for the yearly expansion.
    2. I know, cabal ships aren't tiny. So the almighty crashing anywhere on earth will probably wipe out everything.

Okay then, These are 2 places that are already in the game, Almighty from the main campaign and Cosmodrome from the Thunderlord quest. It would be a decent addition and a nice change to the world. Our guardian is so successful, it would be interesting to see a new side of the character after saving the city but still failing to stop the almighty from crashing into the planet.

Behind the Scenes at Bungie During Destiny 2’s Empyrean Foundation Event

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 10:02 AM PST

    https://blog.us.playstation.com/2020/03/04/behind-the-scenes-at-bungie-during-destiny-2s-empyrean-foundation-event/

As lead designer for the Empyrean Foundation in Season of Dawn, I worked with an amazing team of artists, producers, and developers, and today I wanted to give some insight into how the Empyrean Foundation was originally conceived and how it came together during development.

One of the coolest aspects of working on Destiny 2 has been the team's dedication towards creating a big, ever-evolving world; a place where Guardians can make a lasting impact on the game. For Season of Dawn, we knew we wanted to provide an opportunity for players to have this sort of world-changing influence, but it took a lot of discussion to figure out exactly how it could work.

From the beginning, the mysterious obelisks were a key component for Season of Dawn. They were originally only placed on destination worlds (EDZ, Nessus, Mars, and Tangled Shore) and they were tied more closely to the return of Saint-14, which we knew would be the main narrative focus for the Season. At that point in development, the central Tower obelisk didn't exist and we were considering things like having characters like Zavala and Shaxx give the player gifts which they would use to decorate the hangar to celebrate Saint's return.

After lots of discussion and playtesting, we decided to create the Tower obelisk, which simplified things for players. Now, instead of having to travel to each of the destinations to pick up weapon bounties, they could connect the remote obelisks to the Tower obelisk and get everything from there.

During this time, other parts of the development team were working on the return of Trials of Osiris, which we knew would be welcome news for fans. For me, the big "ring the bell" moment was when we realized that it should be the players themselves that brought back Trials. That's when we came up with the idea of rebuilding the Lighthouse via donations to the Empyrean Foundation. Here was our opportunity to not just create something fun for players to play and talk about, but that would also allow players to bring about meaningful change. There was still a ton of work to do, but we were all excited about the direction.

Once we had the design direction in place, we had fun with elements of the Empyrean Foundation such as the "donate vs. invest" strategies that became a huge part of the community conversation towards the end of the Season. While anyone could donate their Fractaline currency to help progress the rebuilding of the Lighthouse, players could also invest their currency by upgrading the Tower obelisk and receiving even larger Fractaline payouts as a result.

We originally created the invest option to give players who didn't have a lot of time to play a chance to "catch up" if they came back to the game in the middle of the Season. Watching players discuss the pros and cons of donating vs. investing has been really fun for the team, especially as we got close to the end.

We took away a lot of great lessons from the Empyrean Foundation, lessons that I think will help us as we continue to build opportunities for our players to show their impact on the world of Destiny. Now that the Lighthouse is lit, Trials of Osiris awaits!

Thanks for being here and I'll see you on March 10 for the launch of Season of the Worthy, and on March 13 for the opening weekend of Trials.

Should Bungie add exotic quests for some exotic armor?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 11:31 PM PST

Or some that you can only get in raids as another incentive to play the raid again? Decrease the drop rate maybe? The quest could be finding certain pieces of the armor around each of the planets? Idk Just a thought, What you think?
