Bungie: We can't have a bounty board, but Eververse gets a dedicated menu space?

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 08:14 AM PDT

Right now we have to visit a dozen different vendors to pick up bounties. This is a time consuming task that takes us out of the gameplay loop.

The community has been calling for a bounty board for A LONG time now, but it never seems to be a priority for the Bungie team.

You know what DOESN'T require you to visit the vendor? EVERVERSE.

It seems as if the Bungie team has ignored the bounty board and instead put an Eververse board into the main menu.

Right now, we have bounties (weekly) that will award Valor or Infamy rank points. I think ALL vendors should switch from a token system to a seasonal rank system like we have for Glory, Valor, and Infamy.

Completing bounties will reward +X points towards the rank. Once you finish a rank (like we did in D1), we go to the vendor to pick out engram. And PLEASE weapon or armor choice, there's no reason why we shouldn't have this.

Taking away 1 shot from the 4th Horseman‘s mag size and giving it back via the catalyst is just such a Destiny2 move.

This reminds me of when they brought Suros Regime back with CoO, but painted it's body blue and sold the original white paint as an ornament.

A Glassdoor review from a former Bungie employee: “Leadership says they understand, and will do better, but still keeps leaning into not backfilling jobs and waiting to align on a direction before it's too late to deliver. This has been most obvious on the Narrative and QA teams.”

A Big List of Small Mistakes People STILL MAKE

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 06:53 PM PDT

    Hey guys,

I thought it would be cool to make this list to give advice to both 6 year destiny vets and New Light players. This is a list of all the little dumb things that people still do that considerably slow down progress in general for the rest of a fireteam. This is NOT a guide on how to play Destiny, and I will be including only Gambit and PvE. These are very specific scenarios that I feel like should be brought to everyone's attention. Game modes that are not applicable are simply not included. Several of these will feel obvious, but I see these mistakes being made every single day. Obviously, play how you want to play, but if anyone wants some efficiency tweaks here are some suggestions. If there's something on this list that you think I missed, please mention it in the replies and I'll add it.

    Strikes

    The Arms Dealer:

    • Don't waste your ammo shooting the boss before the final boss room. His health will reset.

    Exodus Crash

    • Stand WITH THE GHOST in the room with the arc shanks. If one, two, or three guardians are on the plate, the counter will go up 1%, 2%, or 3% at a time respectively. Just stand on the plate and kill the arc shanks, stop standing by the door. The only times you need to get off that plate are to get ammo or to kill the two servitors.
    • KILL THE WALKER. The door behind it is open, but if you don't kill the walker, there is a shield on a door later which makes you backtrack.

    Tree of Probabilities

    • The boss spawns IMMUNE, which means that if you pop a celestial goldy or a 1k voices shot, it will be useless. Shoot with your primary a couple times till you can do damage, and then kill him.

    Hollowed Lair

    • When farming for mindbenders, run an ad clear super. There is no reason to have a damage boost super because of the 15,000,000 immune phases that this bitch has. Hit him with some 1k, then move on to the ads. The faster you kill them, the faster you finish this damn fight.

    The Corrupted

    • Here we go. Listen, for the elevator room please throw the ball to at least one other person. This will usually kill the shielded enemies immediately, or will at least take their shield down completely.
    • The boss, on the other hand, does not need multiple people to have the ball for the FIRST phase. You can melt her without much problem if you have one person throw the first ball and then have everyone shoot. This changes later in the strike.

    The Pyramidian

    • While it is possible to nuke down the boss right there, you likely need all three players trying for that, or else the boss might survive with a sliver of health. Problem is, low enough health triggers his enrage state of chasing after you but is still immune from the shield phase, even when walking outside of those shields. (thanks to u/LolWhatDidYouSay)

    Public Events

I'm gonna summarize all heroic public event triggers in 5 words or less.

    Cabal Excavation: Shoot thresher.

Glimmer Extraction: Shoot glimmer pump on ground.

Injection Rig: Shoot vents, don't burn.

    Ether Resupply: Shoot small servitors.

    Vex Construction: Stand on plates.

    Taken Blight: RNG

Tank One: Free the scorch cannons

Witches: Stand on plates, shoot crystals.

Vex Crossroads: Shoot diamonds, stand on plate.Ether Ritual: Shoot floating blobs.

    Cryopods: Through freezies at boss.

Rift Generator: Shoot blight, kill wizards.

Now I'll talk about seraph towers.

    Seraph Towers

    • Don't whiff your throws. Missing a throw can cause you to need a whole nother ball spawn.
    • Don't throw balls after the node that you're on is complete. These can be used to start the next one for mistake safety.
    • Don't over-commit to killing all the enemies under their ships. Missing a colossus or a captain that spawned on the other side of the map will cause the tower to spawn only two balls cause their beefy and hard to kill quickly. This, combined with the fact that they decided to leapfrog into your circle at the last minute makes them difficult to deal with.

    Gambit

The game mode with the most potential has become arguably the most disliked game mode in the game currently. As sad as this is, here are some tips to get through it faster. (Also if you love Gambit that's great I miss when I loved Gambit, so more power to you.)

    • If Drifter says to bank, just bank. There isn't any reason to drop more blockers on the other side unless you are way in the lead. If they have their primeval, or you're neck and neck, just bank so that you can start dealing with the primeval.
    • Don't invade if you don't have the weaponry. I am 100% guilty of this, but invading is pointless if you're running around with an SMG.
    • Don't kill the last envoy in prime if the enemy is about to invade. I am, once again, guilty of this, but if your enemy is about to come wipe your whole team with their very fair and balanced Hammerhead, there is no point in wasting a damage cycle.
    • Don't be selfish. If your teammate has 12 motes and you have 2, let them pick up the three over there. Especially at the beginning of a game, a large blocker will usually be better than a small blocker. If you're dealing with a coordinated team or have a plan to drop a goblin and captain at the same time, then that's your prerogative, but just try to pay attention to what's going on around you. (thanks to u/Krazy_Dragon_YT for the correction to a piece of this)

    Champion Mods

I see a lot of people having trouble activating UNSTOPPABLE bullets. To do this, you ADS until it says "unstoppable shot" and then you shoot. The other two you just spam, but for unstoppable you gotta wait for a bit.

I think that's it. I hope at least some people found this helpful. This isn't exhaustive by any means, and if I missed something, please let me know. Thanks for reading!

EDIT: Shit it looks like I was wrong about the taken blight. Please check comments for copious corrections ;)

Could we collapse all the Gambit Prime armor into 1 set, please?

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 10:36 AM PDT

It kinda sucks that having all the Prime armor sets (on all 3 characters, if you're a lunatic like me) takes up 60 vault slots. I suggest we make it one set, and then have each Prime role be mods that we slot into the armor. Just like how raid armor sets take mods for that raid. When you slot the mod it changes the armor color for the role.

And if someone likes having different affinities for the different weapons they like to use as each role, they can still have multiple sets stat rolled the way they'd like. It's a small change for us, and hopefully they do it when they condense gambit modes and revisit gambit in the future like they mentioned they wanted to.

As far as Reckoning is concerned, they could make it so wagering any mote just gives you armor from the single set

The more we hear about how much labor it takes to create a new weapon, the more I hate the seasonal artifact and mods

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 08:47 AM PDT

We've heard multiple times about the time and effort it takes to create and test a new weapon. They've told us in TWABs, Director Cuts, and comments. They've told us how they've had to make decisions between "making more weapons" or "making more content." It's already been stated a thousand times that Eververse has clearly taken away a ton of resources and always gets so much new content for both seasons and events. I agree with all those people and think Eververse has taken over way too much and is taking away from the game we've grown to love.

As much as I hate the attention Eververse gets, I feel the same way about the seasonal artifact and mods. How much time and energy is spent by how many people to create these new mods, playtest them, fix the bugs, and everything else that goes along with them? Sure they might have some cool effects, but no one that I play with gets on and grinds away because of the artifact or it's mods.

They play for the loot. The weapons, the armor. And apparently these get put down to the bottom of the list of "creation energy expenditure."

This sub is and has been full of requests and ideas for vendor refresh, new weapons, new perks, armor ideas, etc.. But I don't remember anyone asking for seasonal mods or the artifact and it's power boost to grind for. Yet Bungie felt the need to devote however much time it takes to create a new one every season, as well as armor pieces that can only accept certain season mods; or, can't accept any season mods at all (world drops). And then, with a new season of a huge Eververse restock and seasonal artifact + mods, as well as completely taking away pinnacle weapons (again, something that no one was asking for) they come out and say there just isn't enough time to create that loot.

You know, the loot necessary for a looter shooter.

Maybe it's not a popular opinion, but I hate the seasonal artifact and mods, even more so as they put out less and less loot. I don't know where in Bungie that the problem lies, but they seem to forget what really made Destiny the game that it was. The game itself is still great for a lot of reasons, but when we hear about how it takes too much time to create more loot, and then see all this stuff coming out that no one is asking for, the more it makes me hate those things.

Can we talk about how server stability has been absolute dogshit since S10 dropped?

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 04:54 AM PDT

No matter what bungie says in terms of them trying to fix it, people are still disconnecting left and right when in fireteams. This is especially bad in Ordeals, but also happens in patrols.

Say what you want about season 10 and its' problems, but the main one is just not being able to play the game.

The Trials population is going to disappear quickly if people continue to reset cards to elo and KD farm.

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 04:59 PM PDT

Just saying. If you don't want a sweaty trials experience 24/7, maybe we shouldn't be trying to pubstomp the opening game over and over again.

It's not going to get you laid and the only people who care about your KD are other people who farmed it and got a fake score.

Maybe Bungie should consider bracketing these players into their own special lobbies. It would certainly be easy enough to track and see who is doing this over and over.

Edit: As pointed out be a few in this thread, it could also be for farming tokens/shotguns, but the point remains. If players are just going in to the beat up on poor/new/inexperienced players, the population will dwindle down to sweats being sweaty.

If loot from last weeks trials is included this week, why do we have to get three wins to turn in tokens?

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 05:06 PM PDT

This week, if you got 3-7 wins last week, should at least allow us to use tokens immediately to get last weeks loot. Once you get 3 wins this week, shotgun in the mix. Then auto, etc. Next week we should be able to immediately use any tokens we get prior to getting 3 wins for loot from these past two weeks. Just my thought. I don't get requiring 3 wins for token turn in. Some play for tokens/bounties or just aren't that great/have a decent team.

    Interesting Black Garden Fact

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 02:35 PM PDT

The plateau-mesa like thing in the center is actually a tree stump. When playing GoS, massive roots can be seen sprouting from it -- and the final boss takes place at the stump, where it can clearly be that it's made out of wood. Just a cool observation, 'cuz I always thought it was a mesa. Be crazy to see how tall the tree it belongs to was...

    Stop playing

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 03:39 AM PDT

Whoa whoa put down your Randy's Pitchforks and solar supers and just listen up. I love the Destiny franchise to death. Since the launch of D1 this game helped me build online relationships with amazing people that I still interact with to this day. Building up a character in a videogame has never been more fun for me and just the overall feel of the game is amazing. This game managed to hook me hard and so I invested thousands of hours into it. That being said I stopped playing since second half of the Season of Dawn, after things got really boring. Season of the Worthy came out a few months later and I decided that I'll check it out (since I paid for it). I was unpleasantly surprised with everything going on in this season: the lackluster pve content, the removal of emblem stat tracking, the recycled trials armor and weapons from d1 and the seasonal restocking of the Eververse store with items that. should be obtainable in various in-game activities.

Here comes the "controversial" part of this post so be warned. I've seen tons and tons of posts on this sub with well constructed criticism on the current state of the game and the recent changes implemented by Bungie. It's understandable to think that players are putting themselves through an experience that is not worthwhile to their time and money but still give feedback because they want to improve the game we love. Here is the thing: Bungie already received enough feedback and they know what we want from the game but I don't know if they want to implement those changes because they are comfortable with the current state of D2 and how it's monetized. The solution? Stop playing. Now I know this might sound downright insulting to some but consider this: you are spending time and money (which I understand it is yours to spend) to try and enjoy an empty shell of an experience that you used to like way more than you do now. I've come to the conclusion that many players have the illusion that a relation of friendship has been built between the Destiny community and Bungie, which couldn't be further from the truth. In reality we (the consumer) have the right to receive a worthwhile product, in exchange for our money and time, from the company that we aquire the product from. Lack of interest in the current product forces any company to improve.

That being said, I urge you to at least consider taking a break from the game and enjoying something else for the time being. You won't miss anything if you skip a few seasons and you just might come back to a Destiny experience that is closer to the one we all wish for

This post is not meant to be a taken like a baseball bat to the head. It's just a suggestion.

    Edit: Thanks for the Silver

Items available through gameplay VS Items available through Eververse (Year 1-3)

    Posted: 21 Mar 2020 10:34 AM PDT

There's been a lot of talk about Eververse and how it seems to hoard all kinds of cosmetics and content to itself, rather than share with the rest of the game. So I got to counting.

Here is a per-item-type list of things earnable with gameplay and also available in Eververse. Stuff like legendary armor and ships, things you'll get while playing the game but can also buy. I classified items found in Bright Engrams (which yes, you could get by playing up to a certain time frame) as Eververse items rather than gameplay since they were made specifically for Eververse and not gameplay achievements. I've also marked notable events that affected the economy, like last vendor refreshes and the bright engram changes over the times.

If you don't want to look at 13 freaking charts (I don't blame you, my poor eyes), at the bottom of this post I will have one singular chart with every amount of items from only gameplay and from only Eververse. TL;DR at the bottom.

Take what you want from this data, I can't figure out what came over me to make me want to do this but here we are.

Note: Exotics (weapons or armor) are not being counted in any of these charts because I realized I forgot to count them after the fact

    Ghost Shells 0 7
    Shaders 3 4
    Total 10 (6) 18 (32)

So this is only the item types you could find in both Eververse and in pure gameplay. For some shits and giggles, here is a chart with the amount of all items from gameplay only and Eververse only.

    Everything

    Season Gameplay Only Eververse Only
    Season 1, Vanilla 528 171
    Season 2, CoO 274 146
    Season 3, Warmind 269 89
    Season 4, Forsaken 276 140
    Season 5, BA 110 136
    Season 6, Drifter 82 117
    Season 7, Opulence 91 91
    Season 8, Undying 141 50
    Season 9, Dawn 71 70
    Season 10, Worthy 69 69
Seasonal Events (as of March, 2020) 171 398
    Total 2,082 1,477

This took way too long, my source is Destinysets.com. Take these numbers with a grain of salt since I could've missed items or counted something twice on accident.

TL;DR To add my own two cents to things, on a pure numbers scale the amount of items in Eververse isn't that bad. But it really isn't about that much (says the guy who counted it all, I know), it's about what they look like. A lot of the later on items available through gameplay is reskins of old content while Eververse always get new looking items. This is even more evident when you compare items in Eververse that look like they belong in game via certain achievements (I'm looking at you Refashioned Shapes).

So yeah, you're welcome for this? I guess?

Make Nightfall-specific weapon drops have intrinsic anti-Champion mods. They'd instantly become relevant again, and it would sidestep power creep (most of those weapons are not best in show, with some exceptions). Plus, then we wouldn't necessarily need to use specific types of weapons as dictated by the seasonal artifact. I mean, the Ordeal is where you encounter Champions the most, and the loot you get from them should reflect that.

Can we please get a visual indicator of when Blink is charged again?

I use Blink quite a lot in both PvE and PvP but some of my biggest frustrations with it were how long it takes to recharge and how you had to figure out the charge timer on your own. Yeah Astrocyte Verse exists and I use it a lot when I'm just screwing around, but for the times I want to use a different Exotic, Blink ends up feeling really bad. I end up mistiming jumps and getting myself killed because I was a bit off with how long my charge time was. Having an on-screen visual indicator would be much better, something like a screen vignette that goes away when Blink s ready again.

Since bungie cant fix the amount of error coding out, all activities should have rejoining enabled until a fix is introduced.
