    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:02 AM PDT

    Trials of Osiris are LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

Warlocks, Titans, we all need to agree on something.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 09:02 AM PDT

Hunters need to come in last. First, second, doesn't matter who gets what, hunters just need to get the bronze. We need to band together to make this happen, it will be so utterly funny. I'm a warlock pve main and a titan pvp main so come on my brothers, let's catch this W so we can hand out an L to those jumpy bois.

    honestly hilarious

It's obvious that Zavala is just trying to get all the Hunters to return to the tower so he can elect a new Hunter Vanguard. We must stay away from the trap!

If old raids don’t give out powerful gear, can we at least do them multiple times a week for loot.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:15 PM PDT

There is no reason to only allow one completion a week of the older raids to drop loot. The loot is basically equivalent to regular armor you get from any activity, with the only difference being it looks different. Why can't we farm the old raids for random rolled weapons and armor that is virtually the same as armor we get from any other activity? This can even be extended to GoS as well. Let the first completion in a week drop pinnacle gear and subsequent runs drop regular level gear. This would add more weekly replay value to the raids and give people something else to do during lulls in the season.

Can we all agree that Xur is very underused

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:41 AM PDT

Xur, the agent of the nine and overall mystery that sells all things exotic - has well become irrelevant and its a shame Bungie.

Look I get it, there's a lot of new players and not everyone has all exotics he sells but if you recall this was the guy who used strange coins to sell the like of Gjallarhorn (btw where the hell is it bungie) in d1 and yet to flush him out as a character and the whole "Nine" thing. With the pyramid ships coming you figure xur and them be more important (Xur walks in and tells Zavala what it be).

I'm not saying stop him from selling base exotics, but just once when I log in on the weekend Id like to be surprised with a quest for story or maybe a weapon akin to something like whisper quest (Gjallarhorn that would be cool ty) from the vendor of mystery. What I don't want Bungie - because I'm up to my eyeballs and bored af of them - is Xur to become another bounty giver!!

Please add Non primary weapon anti champion mods next season.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 01:08 PM PDT

It suck not having anti champion mods be available on special or heavy weapons. You are forced to used an exotic if you want that type of damage and retain a champion counter.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 06:37 AM PDT

It literally has the least amount of patrol zones compared to others in the upcoming games, Bungie pls buff Titan so this will be fair

Edit: I was going to say that the people missing the pun should learn to read but then I remembered Titans can't, which explains why this has gone over their heads.

Edit: Ok wow, lots of Titans in the comments.

Seventh Seraph Officer Revolver with Timed Payload is AMAZING!

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:28 AM PDT

If you would've told me a month ago that my favorite PVE primary would be a 180 handcannon with no traditional reload or damage perk, then I would've thought you were crazy, but here we are!

    Great things about this gun:

    • 11-15% extra damage on every shot
    • AOE damage on every shot
    • Heavy enemy flinch/stagger on every shot
    • No damage falloff on Timed Payload
    • Warmind Cells

With timed payload this 180 handcannon will one shot pretty much everything that a 140/150 would and you're not punished nearly as much for landing body shots. The biggest drawback is the low mag size, so I'd recommend hunting a roll with appended mag and ambitious assassin (or maybe fttc).

I know it's silly to get this excited about a new primary, but I really am loving this gun. I've taken it through all different activities from strikes up to master nightfalls and raids, and it works really well everywhere. Highly recommend giving this one a shot, because I know past me would've insta-sharded it.

    Edit:

Here's two short clips showing it off:

Hey Bungie. Remember Age of Triumph, and the raid armour ornaments? Remember how you successfully did that already? Do that again, but just for the next big expansion.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:59 PM PDT

If you're listening, as you always claim you are, then you should know that the players are sick of the best looking loot being locked behind Eververse.

Cosmetic loot IS endgame for the hardcore players, and currently, there is nothing cosmetic to earn from any endgame activity in the game. No adept variant weapon, no raid armour ornaments, not even a hard mode or hard mode rewards.

You did raid armour ornaments in D1 AoT. They were rare, sought after, and told people that you did the hardest activity in the game, and that you were rewarded for it. It was by far the coolest looking gear in the game, and the best part was that you earned it through skill instead of through the credit card.

What your players want has been done already. YOU did it already. If by the next fall expansion there's no cosmetic reward that's earned through challenging activities like raids or trials (preferably both), then I'll have officially given up all hope.

    I complain because I love.

Bungie, Lance Reddick (Zavala) just said on fireteam chat he does not have a "whether we wanted it or not" tshirt, hook the man up with one

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:17 PM PDT

Eris Morn is Savathun, and she's using us to get powerful enough to kill the Darkness.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 09:12 PM PDT

Eris Morn died with her fireteam on the moon. Savathun assumed her form and used the Guardians to take out Crota, knowing that would attract the attention of Oryx. Oryx struck a blow against Mara Sov and the Awoken; with them incapacitated, Eris/Savathun then guided us to fighting and killing Oryx.

She disappears afterward then suddenly shows up again on the Moon, having discovered a Darkness ship. She uses us again to gain entrance to the ship and take some of its power.

Following the sword logic, Eris/Savathun wants to destroy the Darkness, as by doing so she proves she is stronger. Everything she has done has been to eliminate possible threats to her ascendance and we've been her willing puppets.

Bungie, if you're going to reintroduce more faction weapons back into the game in future updates, can you assign them to some kind of faction vendor interaction again?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 09:27 AM PDT

For the new Guardians and the uninformed, Season of the Worthy marked the reintroduction of faction items from Dead Orbit, Future Warcult, and New Monarchy back into the world loot pool. This includes weapons like the Jian-7 pulse, the Dire Promise HC, and a 3 new armor sets, each themed towards their respective faction. These items were sold from vendors during week-long events called Faction Rallies in Y1, and these vendors still inhabit their respective HQs at certain locations in the tower even though Faction Rallies are gone. These vendors have a history with the game all the way back to D1, just like the Vanguard leaders, and I think it's a shame we no longer get to interact with them at all.

To be clear, I'm not asking for a return of faction rallies. I think it's safe to say most Guardians didn't enjoy those in Year 1, as they just felt like busy work. I also don't want another token system for these vendors, as I think tokens are bad for this game's loot system as well, and 3 more sets of tokens would further clutter up an already full inventory tab. I'm talking about the ability for players to pledge one character to a Faction so that we can purchase or unlock one random-rolled engram a week or something to that effect. Or, if you pledge to one faction, that faction's weapons and armor will enter the random world drop loot pool, but you have to be pledged to a specific faction to receive that faction's loot. Allowing players to switch factions once per week per character just like in D1 would allow for players to collect all armor pieces across all characters.

I just think it's a shame that currently these NPC's with storied lore are in the game, and they have their own vendor items reintroduced back into the game, but they receive no interaction whatsoever.

Bug Report: Shots fired while the magazine is overflowed (Ambitious Assassin/Clown Cartridge) do not proc Mulligan.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 08:33 PM PDT

Tested this throughout the Tribute Hall and even in the EDZ too.

If your magazine is bigger than the weapon's default size, then no matter how many shots you fire, you'll never get a single bullet to refund itself through Mulligan until your magazine falls below the default.

    Bring back fancy cloaks.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 01:44 PM PDT

Back in D1, there were tons of cloaks that were long and flowing with great designs on them, with most of great ones came from raids or the Speaker. Most of the cloaks in D2 are ragged cloths that have been used as door mats. Granted, a good number have character to them, but the longer the cape, the bigger the ego.

    Community Focus: Destiny Trials Report

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:57 AM PDT

    Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/48967

Our focus this week is a on a site providing valuable intel on opponents you face in Trials of Osiris. This team of developers harnessed the magic of the Destiny API and used it to create a tool that shows you what you're up against on your way to the Lighthouse.

    Please meet Destiny Trials Report.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what your role is in the Destiny community.

DTR: Hello! We're Vlad and Mark, the two developers behind Destiny Trials Report. We aim to build the ultimate companion for Guardians trying to reach the Lighthouse. Primarily this means that you can look up your opponents to have an idea on how they will play and how good they are. Among other things you see their loadout, kill/death-ratio, and how they did so far this week.

We spoke before back in the Destiny 1 days. What have you all been up to since then?

DTR: Judging by the header image of our previous Community Focus we've definitely improved our visual style since then. Besides that we have been busy rebuilding the site a couple of times, most notably for Trials of the Nine.

While Trials was away we managed to fill the deep void with a Guardian Theater inspired the PUBG site which shows you the reaction of every streamer you killed or were killed by. It felt dirty working for a different game though, so we were very happy when the return of Trials was finally announced. We started from scratch one final time and that resulted in the site that is live today.

Glad to have you back. I assume your team has probably changed up over the years. Want to introduce everyone and have them share their favorite subclass and weapons?

DTR: Vlad takes care of everything server-side, crunching all the numbers to make sure everyone has a flawless count and headshot ratio to show off with. He still misses the days when No Land Beyond used to rule the Crucible, a gun that fit perfectly with his Gunslinger.

Mark (Marruk) takes all that data, combines it with stats from the Bungie API and tries to make it look as pretty as possible. He finally got the Mountaintop last week (thanks Momentum Control) and feels like it isn't overpowered at all and needs absolutely no nerf whatsoever for sure. The "linear-rocket-concept" matches great with his middle-tree Striker.

We also receive a lot of help from Dan (cowgod77) and Joel (LeBrometheus) in the form of advice and perfect Twitter-GIF-replies.

Choosing the proper GIF reply is an art. What have been some of the biggest changes you've made to the site since we last talked?

DTR: While the core of the site is still pretty much the same as it was four years ago, we've definitely improved on making it a way smoother experience. With every iteration, and we've had a few, we used a bunch of experience that we gained from building the previous one. The stats haven't really changed over the years, but the amount of loading indicators and subtle animations have.

But all our users really cared about was dark mode, so we added that as well.

I too love a good dark mode. What were your biggest challenges while building your latest version?

DTR: Dealing with cross-save functionalities was quite the challenge. We put a lot of work into making sure our autocomplete reflects the in-game name for cross-save accounts. It also complicated the way we previously obtained platform-specific stats since a single account can be used on every single platform on a single week of Trials. These are only a few of the issues preventing us from releasing weekly and platform-specific stats on the front page but we are extremely close to shipping those features.

Another big challenge for us was displaying the Armor 2.0 mods. We couldn't simply show all of them, that would clutter the interface too much with irrelevant mods that might not even be active. Instead, we have some complicated (and ugly) code that categorizes all armor mods to match them with a subclass or weapon type that needs to be equipped. If both the mod and the item they work on are equipped we display them together, including a way to find out more in case you somehow manage to forget the difference between "Invigoration," "Recuperation," and "Innervation."

Yea. Cross save has introduced a lot of fun challenges, but definitely worth it. Any other future plans you're working on you want to share?

DTR: At the moment we are working on improving the "home" section of the site, showing more stats on every Trials week that passes. Once that is finished we want to reintroduce some fan favorites from Destiny 1, like in-depth leaderboards and opponent history. Maybe even Variks will make a comeback to challenge Guardians in the ways of old…

We're also secretly working on a spin-off site called Guardian Report, a lookup site that also works with other Crucible modes as well as Gambit and raids. Don't tell anyone yet though.

Your secret is safe with us and our readers. Where can we find you on the internet?

DTR: Our website can be found at https://trials.report and you can complain about your kill/death-ratio being too low through @TrialsReport.

Anything else you'd like to add before we let you go?

DTR: We've been doing this for five years now and the response has always been very positive from the community, thanks a lot to everyone for that.

Also, if you can spare some money, make sure you donate to Bungie's [COVID-19] fundraiser for not only the emblem, but also a "Saint" badge on Trials Report. More details about that on our website.

Stay positive, safe, and at home everyone! Go play Trials or something.

Thanks for stepping into the spotlight of a Community Focus again and we really appreciate you offering up a badge to help support the charity effort!

Whether you're a pro at Trials of Osiris or just starting to dip your toe in the water. Destiny Trials Report is a great resource to see what you're going up against.

We're already looking for someone to feature next. If you have someone you think should be in the spotlight, share them with us on Twitter or our forums.

Transverse Steps Should Speed up Rift Drop Animation

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 02:01 PM PDT

Many guardians have posted about the slow speed of dropping a rift in pvp being a detriment to survival. Being stuck in place is never fun when every second counts in battle.

Speeding this up for warlocks in general might be a hard code, but adding a perk to the exotic I'm hoping can be a quick fix, and limit the new buff to just the exotic. (Less possible complaints)

What do you guys think? 🤔🤔
