This week at Bungie, we prepare for rivalry.

Announced earlier this morning, Guardian Games is fast on approach. Beginning April 21 at 10 AM PDT, the games begin. Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks will compete to prove which class is the most dedicated in Destiny 2.

    Video Link

Your entry into the competition begins with a visit to Eva Levante. Each Guardian will receive a class item to adorn while taking part in competition. Bronze, silver, and gold medals will be available to earn daily, each of which will focus on specific game modes. To earn medals, equip your new class item, defeat enemies, pick up laurels on the battlefield, and advance your quest for the medals you desire.

    Image Linkimgur

We fully acknowledge that class populations are a little lopsided. Hunters are so fabulous with their capes that there are indeed more of them than Warlocks or Titans. To help offset this (so Hunters don't steal the show every day), medals will be weighted slightly per class to maintain an even playing field. We aren't fiddling with the numbers to force wins on alternate classes – Hunters could still take this entire thing if they put enough effort in.

Now, about those class items. At daily reset, your Cloak, Mark, or Bond will update to reflect what placement your team has taken. As an example, if Titans took the "W" for day one, their Mark will update with a wonderful gold sigil. With Warlocks in second and Hunters in third, their class items would be updated to feature silver and bronze, respectively.

    Image Linkimgur

So, what's the ultimate prize? At the end of the event, your daily placements will be combined for a final score. Depending on your team's standings, your class items will be locked to their respective placements for the remainder of the year.

If you're looking for more ways to represent your class, Eva has you covered. Each week, you'll be offered a free quest to earn an Exotic Ghost Shell, one themed to each Guardian class. Complete this quest every week to collect all three!

    Image Linkimgur

Additionally, a new Exotic Machine Gun will become available during this event. We look forward to seeing what mayhem this tool of destruction will inspire when you get it in your hands.

    Image Linkimgur

Eververse will also have some items in store for the event. A single Finisher will be available for Silver only, while all other items may be purchased with Bright Dust as they appear on the storefront. As a note, all Guardian Games weekly/repeatable bounties will grant Bright Dust to match previous Seasonal events.

Guardian Games begins upon the weekly reset – this Tuesday at 10 AM PDT. Make sure to launch your game a little early to grab the required Update 2.8.1. More on that in the Player Support Report below!

    Guardian's Heart Update

    Image Linkimgur

At the time of writing this article, the Guardian's Heart Charity Initiative has generated over $450,000 for relief efforts in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For those that may not be up to speed, for this fundraising effort we've partnered with Direct Relief, who will work with a network of providers across the globe to deliver the supplies that healthcare workers need. This includes basic personal protective equipment, including gloves, masks, gowns, and face shields. The hospitals where they work will also receive food covers, prescription medication, portable oxygen concentrators, ventilators, and other intensive care unit equipment.

Any donation of $20 or more will earn you the exclusive Guardian's Heart emblem. As a quick note, these will be distributed by Bungie within a week of your donation. Keep an eye out, as the email may be filtered to promotional or even spam folders in your inbox.

To help raise awareness and share some of the community action, we're hosting a series of Bungie Bounties for as long as this fundraising initiative lasts. This isn't restricted to North American Guardians, mind you. This is a worldwide effort, so we'll naturally have some international bounties for you to chase. We're getting some final details together for the full calendar. Stay tuned to find out who you'll be chasing over the next week.

We're also partnering with Guardians around the world to host a variety of Destiny streams that feature raid challenges, dungeon runs, and more. If you'd like to show your support and host a stream for this initiative, get in touch with us.

Stay tuned to @Bungie for announcements.

    Problem Children

    Image Linkimgur

It seems that Guardian Games kicked off a little early for some Exotic items in our game, in terms of competition. Telesto, Winter's Guile, and Wormgod Caress are eyeing the top spot for "biggest problem child" in our sandbox. The Destiny Player Support team has an update on their standings.

    This is their report.

    LET THE GAMES BEGIN

Next week, Guardian Games kicks off with the release of Destiny 2 Update 2.8.1. Please see below for the rollout timeline.

    • 9 AM PDT (1600 UTC): Destiny 2 service maintenance begins.
    • 9:45 AM PDT (1645 UTC): Destiny 2 is taken offline on all platforms.
    • 10 AM PDT (1700 UTC): Destiny 2 Update 2.8.0 begins rolling out across all platforms and regions. Players will be able to log back into Destiny 2 at 10:01 AM PDT.
    • 10:01 AM PDT (1701 UTC): Destiny 2 is back online on all platforms; Guardian Games begins.
    • 11 AM PDT (1800 UTC): Destiny 2 service maintenance concludes.
    • For future release timelines when they are available, players should visit our Destiny Server and Update Status help article. For live updates as this maintenance occurs, players should follow @BungieHelp on Twitter or monitor our support feed at help.bungie.net.

    BEETLE ERRORS

During the team's investigation into BEETLE errors, it was discovered that players who were in Towers with more than 13 people would get BEETLE errors at a higher rate. As a temporary workaround, we have changed the number of players who can be in the Tower from 26 to 12 until a more permanent fix can be deployed.

    UPCOMING RESOLVED ISSUES

Below is a list of issues that will be resolved when Guardian Games and Update 2.8.1 becomes available on April 21:

    • Ward of Dawn will now correctly generate Orbs of Light.

    • Fully upgrading any bunker will now unlock the associated Warmind Security Triumph.

    • Interacting with the statue of Sjur Eido for the Wish Ender quest in the Shattered Throne will no longer crash the game.

    • The Level 32 PDS upgrade can now be used to clear the bunker by any character.

    • Rasputin's Daily Seraph Weapon can now be claimed on any character.

    • Players who've completed the Forsaken campaign will find The Lawless Frontier lore book entry "By Thy Tongue Be Damned" completed and available to claim.

    • Friends listed in a player's Roster should no longer show up as black nameplates with zero Power.

    CURRENT KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

    • The Winter's Guile and Wormgod Caress Exotic gauntlets are retaining increased melee damage after their intended timer cooldowns. They have been disabled until a fix can be deployed at a later date.
    • The engram from the Trials Flawless chest will disappear for players who have earned all available Trials rewards.

For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

    Straight to Home Video

    Image Linkimgur

With more time at home, we're finding ourselves able to watch a few more movies. Our daily binges of Netflix can only carry us so far, but thankfully we have some awesome Destiny content to watch on the Creations page.

Movie of the Week: Fourth Horseman Rides Again

    Video Link

    Honorable Mention: 200 IQ Tether

    Video Link

If you're a winner, make sure that your Bungie.net profile (and any profile of someone that contributed) is included in the description of your video. Without that key piece of information, we're unable to slap that rightfully deserved emblem on your collections tab.

So, we come to a close on another TWAB but we understand that there are some topics that weren't covered on here that you may have strong desire to know more about. Eververse, Trials improvements, our plans to address FOMO, tackling the bounty problem, and more. There are also questions like "What about feeling like players can't play their way? What about Ritual weapons, anti-cheat improvements, etc?" .

We've been having frequent syncs to talk through these issues and more. Many of them require a long-term plan with short-term mitigation to help ease the pain. The last thing we want to do is over-commit to changes that ultimately may be reversed, or sign the team up for work that leads to crunch. We don't want to make promises we know we can't keep, so to speak.

Over the next few weeks, we hope to solidify some plans and get them communicated out. We're looking at what can be accomplished in Season 11, which is coming much faster than many of us can believe. Some topics will be tackled in Season 12, as they'll require larger scale systematic changes.

Thank you again to everyone that's been giving feedback on Destiny over the years. This train never stops, and we hope to share our next steps with you soon. Until next time, we'll see you out there in the wild.

    Cheers,

    -dmg04

Hey Bungie, can we get a “state of the game” address so we can see what the future of this game holds and the ways you’re addressing current problems?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:55 AM PDT

If you want people to keep playing your game, I feel like we need a "state of the union address" to tell us that you've been taking our considerations in stride and what your have planned for the next year. Many have lost faith in your company and in the game because there hasn't been any communication from you guys on big issues in Destiny: TRIALS, cheaters, crashes, slow menus, glaring weapon bugs, server bugs, the bounty system being the core of the game, Eververse, the season pass, Ritual/Pinnacle weapons...etc.

We need to hear about the state of the game, the problems happening, the ways you're going to fix it, and things you have in the pipeline to restore community faith in your game.

We need this more than ever.

Edit: As this is blowing up a bit, I'd like to clarify something. I know that this season (and perhaps a lot of the fall expansion is already finished), but I'd like them to address the current state even if those things won't be able to be implemented yet. At least bring us a list of things you're currently working on and things your are trying to fix, community feedback, and error codes. Give us a long Q and A with questions and things we've brought up and just address them.

Edit 2: Adding some names for some exposure — u/Cozmo23 u/dmg04

Eververse killed the loot hype of destiny

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:26 AM PDT

Now hear me out. I know there are several threads of how bad everse is, but i realized, that the way it is right now it just kills completely the hype of events. As I saw the trailer I didnt thought what I had to do to get these outfits. No my first thought was: "hmm how much silver are they costing?" Every Item except for the exotic and the standard armor I will instantly think of eververse and that just dont really get me hyped at all. Why should I even play it, except for this event where I dont know much at all other than that we compete against other Classes. Yeah maybe for the exotic, but then again I can just wait a year that it is in the loot pool(and probably nerfed too hell if it is a fun weapon).

Everything else will be behind another paywall and I just dont want to use money to get it. I actually want to play for cool stuff.

To be honest this complete Event seems so unnecessary and they should have put their ressources into something useful...

I honestly don't really care about the "live" content or seasonal offerings - I really just want another Age of Triumph that makes old content matter.

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 12:06 PM PDT

Heroic strikes with skeleton keys, adept loot in raids with raids being at current difficulty levels, strike specific loot in heroics, gambit perfected with some minor new loot.....so much of the game is going unused. I would MUCH rather have these things added to liven up the game we already have and bring Destiny 2 to it's best possible state than these seasonal offerings. I get the feeling it would even take less manpower.

Age of Triumph was a great time for Destiny. It would be a really good fit for Destiny 2.

Sentinels are a dying breed, now making up a tiny fraction (4%) of total players, which less than half that of the next lowest subclass. They could really use a fix/balance pass. Where to start? How about fixing in-super hit registration, bubble orb generation, and the bugged suppressing melee.

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 12:16 PM PDT

Quick edit: I'm really referring to PvP here. In pve sentinel seems to be pretty solid IMO.

As a Sentinel main, I'm seeing fewer and fewer of my companions in the field. Part of that might be Titans themselves being in a rough spot, not having the mobility options of Hunters or Warlocks (at least on console where you can't flick 180 and shoulder charge out of trouble).

I'm not asking for any crazy buffs (although some sort of mobility/change of direction option would be nice), but how about just having the subclass actually work the way it's supposed to?

Three major bugs affecting the class are:

    1. Super hit registration - bouncing off people, especially when they're jumping. Hear the "clang" and see them hit but no damage is dealt.
    2. Orb-less bubble
    3. Melee shoulder charge not suppressing 75% of the time (but still takes your melee... lol)

Sentinel has been my go-to since Forsaken, and I'd love to see this class get some bug-fix love and be as good as it could be.

TITAN MASTER RACE. Here are some reasons why Titans should win:

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:58 PM PDT

    • Shaxx.
    • Zavala, whether we wanted it or not
    • Saladbar, who gave us Rise of Iron and made us Young Wolves
    • Saint fucking 14, I'm still shocked that he's alive
    • Best grenades out of all classes
    • We gotta make the guys that I mentioned above proud
    • Sloane would also be proud
    • Speaking of Sloane, we got a whole ass moon named after us. I don't see a moon called hunter or warlock /s/s/s
    • Crayons
    • Titan statue would definitely look the coolest in the Tower

WARNING: Guardian Games has more than 1 Silver only item!!

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:18 PM PDT

Today's TWAB says that there's only 1 Silver Only item, but my Eververse data shows that to be incorrect. The following items are currently slated to be Silver Only

    • Team Spirit Ship [1205148161] - Week 8
    • Runner Up Sparrow [1614326414] - Week 9
    • Victory Lap Sparrow [1614326415] - Week 8
    • Titan Projection [1673238724] - Week 9
    • Shuffle and Scat Finisher [2376234856] - Week 7
    • Cherry Blossom Transmat Effect. [3393212813] - No Week Data
    • Regal Deterrent Ornament (Heir Apparent) [3673548752] - Weeks 9 and 12

This data could change but since I started tracking/datamining Eververse data Bungie has not updated the item layout after a Season starts since Season of Opulence.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep - Guardian Games - Trailer

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 07:01 AM PDT

I think Hasapiko is a perfect example of a simple boss encounter that is just plain fun

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 08:27 AM PDT

I just loaded up Menagerie for the first time in a few months. Hasapiko is the boss this week, and if he don't remember he's the one that summons the moving death walls. Overall the boss encounter really isn't that complicated: run to a safe spot, do some damage, avoid the death walls.

I think just the constant movement is what makes it enjoyable. It allows for some flexibility with weapons too. I was running a Quickdraw + Autoloading rocket launcher + Borealis with Dragon's Shadow chest-piece on the hunter. Proc Ionic return, unload a magazine, switch to rocket launcher before reloading Borealis, fire off a shot, dodge to reload (reloading your stowed Borealis in the process), fire off another shot, and switch back to Borealis. Dragon's shadow reload while the Borealis is stowed maintains the Ionic return perk! Mix in some charged with light action and you've got yourself a fun little build there.

A traveling vendor that pulls a re-programmed Vex Minotaur around. Make it completely random. Let's give Xur a run for his money.

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 08:45 AM PDT

Running around Nessus you spot a cloaked vendor walking down a path, pulling a reprogrammed Vex Minotaur that has gear loaded on it's back. Being a curious Guardian, you wonder what they have. Loot? Riches of this world? A fabled rocket launcher? Hold [button] to talk:

Enigmatic Vendor: "Roads less traveled lead to things unseen. These wares are hard to come by, but with enough "coin"...I'll see what I can do". [Opens Inventory]:

    • Mysterious Object (1k Legendary shards, 25k glimmer, 4 Ascendant Shards): Gives you random exotic quest for one of the 4 different "unique" weapons only found by the Enigmatic Traveler.

    • Experience Medallion (500 Legendary Shards, 3 Ascendant Shard): Increases XP gained by 5x for 4 hours

    • Exotic Ghost (50k glimmer, 250 legendary shards, 4 enhancement cores): Provides unique Ghost perks. Always comes with 10% XP gain.

    • Exotic Sparrow (50k glimmer, 250 legendary shards, 4 enhancement cores): Provides unique Sparrow perks. Always comes with instant summon.

    • Enemy Medallion (25k glimmer, 100 legendary shards, 1 enhancement prism): Has an increased chance of dropping masterworked/curated legendary gear when killing tough enemies. Lasts until one drops.

After purchasing ONE item, the Enigmatic Vendor thanks you, "Search the dark places, perhaps you'll find something you want?" Transmats to another location or to perhaps... another time?

Obviously the time and place could be few and far between, perhaps a couple times a month, shows up in a random location that relies on the community to find. He won't always show up where you think he is. It's always random. Has some cool gear, expensive yeah, but only this vendor has it. I don't know about you, but I would like some mystery and accidentally stumble upon things I never expected to be there and to spend hard earned currency on other things.

Edit: Any other "special items"or ideas out there that the vendor should have?

Edit 2: Adjusted pricing, seemed a little high for some.

Make Fenchurch a traveling vendor that sells a rotating selection of eververse items on the side for existing in-game currencies (not bright dust).

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:18 PM PDT

Saw a post from u/blue_13 about an idea for a new traveling vendor selling unique items. Here is the link for reference:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/g2hd1y/a_traveling_vendor_that_pulls_a_reprogrammed_vex/

My alternative idea is to have Fenchurch randomly appear in-game unannounced periodically with a rotating selection of eververse items for sale for in-game currencies (not bright dust). The reason he is never around for Tess is he is illicitly selling goods on the side for his own profits. Ideally selling items that were not available in the EV store at that particular time. Unlikely that Bungie would take items out of the cash shop and put them in-game? Absolutely...but a guy can dream right?
