As a software developer, I feel really bad for the live team that's supporting the game

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 10:54 AM PDT

I've been on successful projects and I've been on failed ones. Most of the time, everyone on the project is working hard. The team maintaining the game now just seems overmatched. The direction of this seasonal content is piss poor. The game seems like it gets less stable by the day. Trials has been a pretty big flop so far. I really hope bungie fixes this for not only us, but their employees. There's no way bungie can brag about taking care of their employees and creating a great work atmosphere when they are not putting them in a position to succeed.

Repurpose the Black Armory forge so that we can “smith” the most current seasonal mod slot into whatever armor we want.

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 07:34 AM PDT

It would give us a reason to go into forges, it would give us a reason to spend a variety of resources, and is a prime example of deepening a preexisting asset.

As another additional idea, with the right resources and maybe a harder boss in the Forge, we could forge an "Exotic Slot." The mod is not exotic, but the slot is. It would make whatever mod that is in the a slot cost zero energy.

Edit: awards! Thank you my dudes 🙏🏻

    Hey Bungie, about Trials...

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:20 AM PDT

"We want to make sure we really stick the landing with Trials. It's important that this doesn't come out half-baked" - Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy – Trials of Osiris Returns – Dev Insight (February 25th, 2020)

Well, it has now been a month since Trials came out, and it's pretty evident that Bungie stuck Trials in the microwave for 30 seconds and thought that would be enough to make sure it wasn't "half-baked".

Rewards system that encourages card resets and early-card farming, no Adept weapons, no meaningful endgame rewards (does the word materials mean anything to anyone???) for going Flawless. Bungie spent how long working on Trials, and then they really pushed it out in this state and thought "this is ready for the player base, they're really going to like this".

Oh yeah, and then they did everyone a favor by fixing the existing bug that kept players from earning rewards through the activity by making it WORSE.

And don't forget guys, they had to sacrifice making other content for the season in order to include re-skinned weapons and re-introduced maps that they ported over from D1.

But don't worry, they're listening to our feedback. And I'm sure this will all be fixed when the fall expansion rolls around. Only another six months before Trials is (possibly) patched into a somewhat enjoyable and rewarding activity.

Anyone seeing a pattern here? I know I do, and I can't put myself through more excitement and hope that Bungie will finally do the right thing just to be let down again.

Bungie; maybe the next time you release a piece of content, keep it in the oven until it's actually done instead of throwing it in the microwave to heat it up... and then only heating up the bowl, and not the food that you are trying to serve us.

I really wish Bungie had brought back sparrow horns. They were such a funny part of Destiny.

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 01:10 PM PDT

Can't believe Bungie never gave us sparrow horns in Destiny 2. I'm sure they'd be a big seller in Eververse. Better than some of these really ugly ships and shaders that have been released through the life of D2...that's for sure.

Unfortunately bungie will only act when the player retention will go completely downhill

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 09:09 AM PDT

As seen with forsaken dlc(which was IMO the best the destiny ever been) bungie only cares about player´s feedback when their survival is at stake. Which IMO shows in forsaken as they went complete 180 on the game and basically delivered almost everything the community wanted.

I feel like after opulence it went to shit. And yes I feel like that was the last time we truly got what we expected from bungie as a community.

Bungie is not a small studio. In fact its the largest studio outside CD Project RED that has no publisher.

I do realise that they might want to purse other ideas in gaming world, but IMO the way they treat us is just not fair.

Ever since shadowkeep releases we get vidoc´s that are promising changes in the world and then you realize that its just good because previous season completely sucked(season of dawn), then we get a glorified letter from luke smith who says that he cares so much about the game, explains little details and 6 months later you will realize that it was "a talk to calm the community down".

And unfortunately the issues are getting worse. If it was lack of content with a forsaken style expansion after a year..I would understand that.

But what we got this season(and yes I know things might change) is just..bad. I don´t have other word for it. It sucks.F2P was a mistake. Removal of pinnacles was a mistake. Trials in current state was a mistake(seriously bungie why didn´t you bring in the form it was back in D1).

I know that this is hyperbolic maybe, but I feel like the company I trusted so much I said to my friends that I would buy all their dlcs because its fun is just gone. Guess what, my friends are not playing either..and I guess I just stayed for love of pvp(which doesn´t give me anything outside good feelings).

I think Bungie needs a renewed focus on the “core” activities and aspects of Destiny. Strikes, Crucible, Loot.

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 11:24 AM PDT

These activities and aspects have been sorely lacking in content. Contrary to popular belief, I feel like Bungie is doing an excellent job in the actual content of destiny, its just this content is so frequently spread so thinly across Destiny (and a number of things simply going away) that it feels like theres nothing.

We need changing strikes like we had in D1Y3, with more varied enemies that can spawn, strikes updated to current contexts (sick of hearing Caydes voice, it downplays the impact of his death more and more everytime i hear him in arms dealer) and perhaps stuff like spawnable turrets like in D1Y3. We need Heroic Strikes, perhaps even tiered difficulty strikes like tiger, roc, etc.

We need crucible content, with Trials put into focus and more detail into maps (please smoothen walls and put more invisible walls, how many times has a wall grenade like tripmine gotten stuck at a weird angle or you get caught by a tiny piece of geometry) and the loot game (slayerage covers trials loot and its importance in acquisition and how it contributes to player population here )

Finally, Bungie needs to stop putting so much emphasis on random shit and what i mean by that is the random Court of Oryx style activities like Menagerie and Vex Invasions and now Seraph tower events that after the season is over, serve little to no purpose or are downright removed from the game.

What Destiny needs right now is longevity in content and when these things disappear or their light levels don't get updated to current levels, it makes them one and done activities whos loot pool makes more sense to be in other activities. Remember Eater of Worlds? Spire of Stars? Theres no reason to go back to them. But if the loot of Menagerie was put instead into the Raid lairs, that content could have been made relevant. Instead, these lairs are left behind with no reason other than one-and-done weapon catalysts. And Menagerie is left as expired content as a one-and-done activity. This is what I mean by "spread thin across." Bungie needs more focus on single activities to build up their value, replayability, and content. Otherwise, theres a million things to do and none at all.

Leaving Activision, Going F2P: Bungie's Leadership Decisions Have Fallen Flat

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 11:39 PM PDT

6-12 months after Bungie proudly touted that leaving Activision and self publishing will let the studio define and implement it's vision for Destiny - they've failed

6-12 months after Bungie shifted the franchise to Free to Play with supposed reasonable monetization strategies - they've failed.

We're well into Year 3 and it's hard to argue that us: the players, the community, are in no way shape or form better-off than we were at this time in Year 2.

    • Seasons have withered into shallow activities with little to no depth and heavy amounts of Bungie prescribed brainless bounty grind.

    • The stability of the game has gone to absolute shit particularly on PC with error codes wreaking havoc

    • Performance continues to be a major issue on all platforms but particularly on consoles

    • Loot has completely lost its appeal as Bungie appears to have lost vision and inspiration for creating compelling rewards

    • Trials has absolutely flopped in almost all aspects despite a lengthy hiatus. A reward structure that encourages bad behaviour, lack of appealing rewards, a compete failure to keep cheating at bay and performance issues are decimating the population only four weeks into one of the most hyped activities.

    • Constant bugs and lack of comprehensive testing resulting in gear constantly being disabled. Even today -after supposedly finally addressing an issue with Trials rewards in a patch this week, people are still not getting their rewards.

With all of these issues - it's clear there's a significant lack of resources supporting the live game.

Given that resources are the constraint - it seems like a completely nonsensical decision to leave behind the resources Activision were able to provide.

I see no evidence of a Activision-free vision.

The monetization through Eververse is still heavy handed while assets for actually playable content is minimal.

I see no clear direction that the narrative is heading to a climax 5 years into the game.

What is the player benefit of these decisions?

The community managers can only do so much.

It's time for us to call on Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy to start having more frequent, more candid discussions with the community.

It's very difficult to feel positive about the direction Destiny is heading.

I know I'm personally very close to just putting the game down and I persevered through Curse of Osiris and have been playing the game since Vanilla D1.

Something has become readily apparent to me since Forsaken came out. Bungie's lead producer is completely absent from the development equation.

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 07:28 PM PDT

It happens a lot with studios that try and expand their scope too much: development become scatterbrained and it's hard to keep a cohesive and unified development process. We're seeing it with Warframe in that Digital Extremes just lacks a producer (very evident since the lead producer for the game is currently tied up in personally tackling one of the game's most important engine updates, and has been for a very long time). We have been seeing this over the last year of Warframe since pretty much all of their updates are self-contained bubbles that hardly interact with one another in any deep or meaningful way. Updates and gameplay systems come in and are fundamentally dropped and left behind when the new hotness comes out. Kuva Liches came and had next-to-no impact on a player's gameplay loop despite being touted as the next inclusion in the core of Warframe. The same can be said for Railjack, but it's literally just a framework space-flight combat system with an incredibly segmented and rigid mission structure that exists in its own universe of the game.

If this rings a bell (and it should) then you would realize that this is exactly what Destiny has been like since Forsaken launched. With Forsaken we received tons of incredibly deep and meaningful gameplay changes (aside from the obvious weapon slot fixes). Things like the Wanted enemies being present in Strikes and Lost Sectors, and specific wanted enemies having specific weapons from the Tangled Shore loot pool associated with them. Up until Forsaken, we had never seen cohesion like that. Then it all got even better with the Dreaming City's curse loop allowing access to lore progression and the new Dungeon which granted further access to the Dreaming City Seal. There was so much in Forsaken that all worked well with every aspect of itself. We rode that incredibly long honeymoon period until December when we finally got the Black Armory update. It was another new addition to the game, but it felt so much different from Forsaken, not because of its size or scope, but because of how segmented it was from the rest of the core experience. In a nutshell, Black Armory was just a bounty system with more steps and literally no variety aside from the Forges, and even that was all taken away when Bergusia came out and acted as the "every" Forge. The lore wasn't connected to Forsaken, there wasn't really anything in Black Armory (aside from Uldren's return which I would classify as being still part of the Dreaming City lore reveals) that connected back to Forsaken. There were no gameplay loops or mechanics that were introduced. Yeah there were the Forge Saboteurs which acted similar to the Wanted targets, but their drop chances were, and still are, so laughably low that it was really hard to get into this new "evolving world" that Bungie had been talking about. Oh well, maybe Bungie will do better with Joker's Wild. We all know how that turned out. We got Gambit Prime and Reckoning which did essentially nothing to service the plot of Forsaken at all. There was nothing from Forsaken that connected into Joker's Wild aside from Gambit, which wasn't even a core aspect of Forsaken's story, it was just a new game mode that was tacked on (and while there's nothing wrong at all with tacking on a new mode, it's just a bit of a letdown when your new Season to evolve the story and world is based around that mode and has literally no connection back to the source expansion). Penumbra was next, and while the Season itself was really fun and full of awesome things to do, it again didn't have any cohesion with Forsaken. Once again, we got another mini-expansion that acts as a bubble completely disconnected from Forsaken, Black Armory, and Joker's Wild. It felt like all three of the Seasons were developed at the exact same time and thus had no connection with one another.

Fast-forward now to Shadowkeep and we get this promise from Bungie to deliver this single evolving world, but so far the only single evolving world we've gotten is one where the story of Shadowkeep is completely pushed aside in place for the Vex Offensive marathon of repeating the same mission over and over again, which got continued into Season of Dawn where we dove head first into the Sundial marathon of repeating the same mission over and over again to stop the Cabal, which leads us now into Season of the Worthy where, and I feel like a broken record, we're begrudgingly wading into the Warmind Public Event to do the same... fucking... thing... on repeat for 3 more months. I'll go out and say that Bungie 100% shot themselves in the foot by creating Black Armory, Joker's Wild, and Penumbra, then leaving them all completely static post-Season with no changes even when they were all BEGGING to be updated and touched upon with each passing Season. I don't think anyone here would disagree that Bungie making timed activities like the Vex Offensive and Sundial is essentially them unloading the entire magazine into their foot. We've taken the problem of this lack of cohesion between Seasons and just amplified it in Year 3 and NOBODY likes it. This isn't even mentioning the complete tragedy of wasted potential that is the Infinite Forest and Escalation Protocol.

This all revolves back to my initial statement that Bungie's content producer feels essentially missing from the development equation. It's the job of the producer to guide development along on a path and keep things on track with a roadmap. Yeah we saw Bungie's whiteboard of "going through Year 7 and 8 of Destiny" but the current development system we have feels like Bungie just jumping around from topic to topic without any rhyme or reason, exploring this gameplay aspect, and then that one, and then this one, and then that one like a zig-zag and we're all getting burnt out on it. It's the job of the producer to drive the development mini-van and to turn back every 15 minutes to tell the kids to stop kicking the seat and to turn their iPad volume down. Bungie needs to commit to a single pathway with development and create not this tree of systems, but a braid of systems that all work together in harmony. We have this incredible weapon crafting system with the Menagerie, yet we've been stuck with only ONE grouping of armor and weapons with it. We have this amazing system of armor sets with Gambit Prime's roles that has been completely abandoned and never mentioned since, even though it created an incredibly strong and cohesive Gambit Prime experience. Bungie needs to start working with the tools they have to keep our gameplay loop centralized while still expanding rather than having this branching shit we're stuck with where only the newest branch is relevant and the other 96% of the game's content can basically go fuck itself.

I'm not trying to make a definitive statement that Bungie's producer is just gone and doesn't exist. I'm just saying, from what I've been experiencing as a player who has been around since 2014 in the D1 beta, the current Destiny feels like it has absolutely no direction and that Bungie is just wandering around, throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks, but at the same time, completely disregarding what works and what doesn't.

TL;DR: Destiny has no cohesion gameplay wise while having faux cohesion narratively. Destiny has introduced 9 new gameplay systems with Destiny 2. 8 of them are completely irrelevant and only 1 had cohesion with the narrative and it's over a year old and one of the irrelevant ones. Because of this lack of direction, Destiny feels like it's just wandering aimlessly, throwing everything at the wall and trying to find what sticks, while simultaneously refusing to take notes on what did and what didn't work.

TL;DR's TL;DR: Destiny 2 feels like a train where the locomotive is pushing a machine that is laying the track for the rest of the train to follow and has no actual direction of where it needs to go.

Despite the “obvious” areas where Destiny has opportunities to grow and expand, there’s one aspect of the game that has been FLAWLESS since Destiny 1...

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:22 PM PDT

    The soundtrack.

Michael Salvatori is a damn GENIUS when it comes to master-piecing a soundtrack that is addictive & perfectly embodies the Destiny universe. I have both soundtracks on repeat constantly and, depending on my mood for the day, will blare some of the greatest hits of the last 6 years:

"The Traveler" -D1 "The Last Array" -D1 "Guardian" -D1 "Eye of the Gate Lord" -D1 "Regicide" -D1 "Fallen S.A.B.E.R" -D1 "Inner Light" -D2 "Journey" -D2 "What we Fight For" -D2 "The Man they Called Cayde" -D2 "Shadowkeep" -D2 "Eye of the Storm" -D2 "Call to Arms" -D2

The list goes on, but I've never had an instance in gaming or streaming Destiny where I wasn't listening to the soundtrack in the background and thinking "chills...". I always look forward to the next expansion in the Destiny universe because I always look forward to what Michael Salvatori and all of the amazing artists behind the scene create to immerse us in. What are some of your favorites?

Thank to Michael and every other person involved in making the music of Destiny come alive. ❤️

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:07 PM PDT

I wish menagerie was at least a powerful loot drop. Nothing pinnacle, but bungie could reward new(or even just old) loot on a rotating loot pool for the Chalice.

I just want incentive to play all the old content too because I'm really getting bored of the same four activities every week.

Almost nothing is more frustrating than watching someone die without ever using your super in solo comp.

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 02:47 PM PDT

I'm playing relatively high level solo-comp and things are going as well as you could expect. You get the usual: no one uses voice chat (which is basically like having super powers in solo queue, you should turn it on and see what happens to your win ratio), everyone goes off on a solo TDM mission and not everyone has the thumbskill to go off on said mission, meta weapon usage is spotty at best(your god roll x is rarely better, if not categorically worse, than a meta god roll, no matter how much you like it)... but my biggest gripe... of all... is super usage.

    USE. YOUR. SUPER.

I just finished a game that came down to the wire. 4 - 4 and this blueberry with a .5 kd held his super for 3 1/2 rounds and DIED before using it when the game was over.

I don't know what you think you're looking for - maybe all 3 enemies to be looking up at the sky and doing a rain dance within 3 feet of each other for your perfect triple kill - but it's not coming. Pop that shit and get a kill or a double ESPECIALLY if you're low on the kd totem pole and can't win your 1v1s. Make an orb, get a kill without trading, hell: even push them off heavy and don't kill a soul - but don't die and have the game end without ever using it.

    Sincerely,

People out here in this frustrating PvP landscape trying to win.

What's the point of spending so much time on new seasonal content if it just goes away?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 07:43 PM PDT

Bungie is pouring all its resources into things that disappear in a few months(sundial, obelisk, bunkers). Seems like a bad decision from every way I think about it. Spend all this time making something only to delete it in a few months time. Only to start over with the next thing. What is going on with their decision making? How can we as players make it clearer that this system is not working?

Move Zavala to his office after you complete his weekly challenge similar to Eris’ challenge

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 09:31 PM PDT

Imagine: You complete your 8 daily bounties for Zavala, turn them in and head to the tower to pick up your powerful reward.

Upon loading into the Tower, you suddenly realize Zavala isn't at is post. At first, you think it's just a loading error. Happens all the time. The other NPC's are there, however, and then you notice another weekly challenge marker at Zavala's Office. You head down the stairs, through the hallway and in the door to find Zavala sitting at his desk, knitting a sweater. He hastily puts it away and folds his hands on the desk top.

    "Hello guardian."

Can I get an emblem tracker for all the Trials tokens I lose at reset?

Two weeks and I can't get past 1 win. Also give me back my iron burden tracker. I worked hard for those 513 kills and that number has an actual meaning to me. I wanted 513..not 500, not 515, 513 is special. Go Reds.

A Guide For New and First-Time Raiders, From One Not-Quite-New Light to Another

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 03:08 PM PDT

I see a lot of posts on Reddit from newer players looking to learn raids, and I can tell that many of them are frustrated. It's hard to get into raiding these days. In August 2019, I myself was trying to get my first raid and looking at an endless sea of LFG posts demanding players with 30 clears, wondering if I'd ever learn a single one.

For this reason, I decided to write some tips for players looking to break in to the world of raiding. Let me lay my cards down from the beginning: I'm not actually some amazing sherpa or god tier raider. In fact, I was a total scrub a year ago, with no experience or endgame gear. I can't say that I'm astoundingly good now, but I've gotten a lot better. Today, I'm a competent enough player, know every raid, and play regularly with great people.

To be completely honest, I did it with a lot of help–and a lot of screwups along the way. In fact, that's why I think my perspective is helpful. If I can do it, so can you! (Of course, I hope everyone will sound off below with their own resources, suggestions, disagreements, etc.)

The purpose of this brief guide is to present resources so that you can work out your own path to raiding, from one not-quite-new-light to another. I try to present what I think is the most optimal version of the path–one that will best position you to learn every raid as quickly as possible. Of course, you can just run a raid or two, see how you like it, and take it from there.

Either way, here are five tips to learning the raids:

    1. Be Patient!

Be patient, plain and simple. I cannot stress this point enough. Patience is the single most important attribute you can have. If you really want the prize, you'll get it. But it won't happen overnight.

Destiny players often expect instant results, spamming LFGs or Discords with "need five to carry in Leviathan right now!" type posts. It rarely works. You won't get Divinity or Anarchy; in fact, you probably won't even find enough people to get started. If you miraculously do, the most likely result will be pure frustration.

Setting up raids is challenging. You need a half dozen people to commit to hours of hard work, especially if people are learning for the first time. You will also likely need the help of experienced players and sherpas–people who volunteer to teach raids for free.

It might not be obvious, but these players don't have selfish reasons to play the raids anymore. I know Destroyer of Worlds is burning a hole in your quest inventory, but it's actually instructing you to run a raid that hasn't evolved since the launch of Destiny 2. Most hardcore players have had all of the loot from the Leviathan for years. Raiding right now is a bit like begging strangers to spend three hours riding the "It's a Small World" ride at Disney World—after they've ridden it three times a week since 2017.

That doesn't mean you can't find an excellent team. (Destiny is a weird world, and some of us just really can't get enough of that damn song.) It does mean you need to be patient. Know that you won't always snap your fingers and instantly get what you want. And remember to be there for the journey, not the destination.

Along the way, jump at opportunities when they present themselves. Maybe this weekend, you'll only find a team to run the single raid you already know. That's ok! You'll gain experience–and clears. You might even make friends who will later help you get the one you need.

Raiding is the most fun when you take the time to assemble good groups of good people. Don't burn yourself out on the toxic ones, or waste time with situations that won't actually help you progress. In the end, waiting a few days might guarantee you actually finish the raid–and have a good time in the process.

    2. Get the Gear!

Great, so now you're stuck waiting until next weekend for your first raid. That's excellent news! It means you have time to grind out some gear.

Gear is important. (Duh!) However, it isn't the be-all-end-all of Destiny. Good players use whatever they feel like–including goofy loadouts just for the lols. Truth be told, bad raiders can skate by with anything as well; I did my first raid after about a month of playing without a single piece of high-quality gear.

That said, I wouldn't recommend my approach. You'll be in much better shape if you start off with a strong loadout. The more varied options you have, the more you can tailor your gear to the situation for optimal performance.

I'd recommend trying to get a handful of weapons that fill a couple of key roles. In particular:

    • A few good, quick-shooting primary weapons—SMGs, Sidearms, Scouts, Pulses, Auto rifles or other things that shoot fast to kill lots of red bar minor enemies (ads)
    • One or two reliable special ammo weapons—Shotguns, Fusion Rifles, Snipers, or other mid-powered gear that quickly puts down groups of ads and stronger yellow bar enemies
    • A handful of top notch heavy weapons—for the strongest targets and boss damage phases (DPS), especially a good grenade launcher and a ranged weapon like a sniper

Don't go running around with two random primary weapons you picked up off the ground. You'll look great if you're able to use that SMG to mow down a line of thrall, swap to a Fusion Rifle to nuke the yellow Knight, and whip out your GL to melt a giant ogre.

I have some recommendations for specific guns below, but I'd definitely suggest combing Reddit and Google for advice; the internet is packed with info about gear. I'd also definitely suggest checking out some basic weapon guides from some of the more popular Destiny blogs/writers, as well as some of the best work from YouTube content creators and deep analysts. There are even exhaustive spreadsheets and podcasts dedicated to Destiny gear!

It's an especially good idea to complete some of the questable exotics, and to use resources like the menagerie—a great matchmade mission that lets you choose specific weapons as rewards rather than having to rely on random drops. There are obviously a lot of god tier weapons in the game, but very solid weapons are pretty easy to get:

I'd recommend building yourself a little raid kit. It's not hard to get started. If you're really strapped for gear, you can just spend an afternoon getting the Seventh Seraph Carbine, Badlander, and Whisper, and still get through some of the easier raids. From there, you can grow your collection, and maybe begin to chase top tier weapons like The Recluse. Of course, if you really catch the raid bug, you can spend all your time hunting down godly loot like Anarchy, Mountaintop, and 1000 Voices.

    3. Get the Tools!

Ok, you've got the guns. Now get good, 4head!

Seriously though, your gear can't carry you. You'll also need to build a broader toolkit. This step can be a tad more intangible; experience is the only foolproof teacher, and experience is exactly the thing that you can't get overnight.

The good news, though, is that your abilities can be supplemented by tools. Learn as much as you can about the game by taking advantage of the tons of in-game and out-of-game resources.

In-game, get familiar with everything you can, including all of the NPCs you'll encounter. If you don't know about Xur, you can start visiting him every Friday to unlock exotics more quickly. Get his armor for all three characters; make those two other characters right now if you don't have them yet. (You'll thank me later!) Build your skill in pinnacle activities like Nightfalls, as well as in the Crucible. Yes, I'm even speaking to those of you who hate PvP. Crucible has some of the best loot, and learning to fight real enemies will help you get technically better. If you can dodge an Unbroken shotgun ape, you can dodge a few ads in a raid.

Out-of-game, you'll also find there is a veritable flood of resources designed to help you get better:

    • Destiny Companion App: The most important resource to have running at all times. It will let you move weapons from your vault to your character or from character to character. It also has a built in LFG (Looking For Group) page where you can find fireteams, and it will let you track your progress on quests and other important goals. Destiny Item Manager (DIM) is also a popular alternative, and has more extensive features.
    • Destiny Tracker: Probably my most visited website. Among other things, it lets you look up yourself and other players. I also love its weapon breakdowns, which let you see which perks come with which weapons and virtually spec them so you can see how it affects stats. When I get a decent looking drop, I immediately go to that page to see if it stacks up.
    • Raid Report: This is a great page for raiders. It lets you look up someone's record as a raider–how many raids they've run, how long it took to run each, and even who ran it with them. Keep an eye on yours and help it grow!
    • Destiny Sets: More of a vanity interest, but I see requests for this function a lot here on Reddit. The page lets you connect your account and see what gear you've unlocked, including all of the ornaments and other cosmetic gear you've unlocked. (I mean, what's the point of getting a flawless raid clear if you don't look good while doing it?)
    • r/raidsecrets: there are a ton of great resources on Reddit. This is one of the best. It's home to some of the best puzzle-solvers and game explorers out there. Any question you have about a raid was answered there long ago.
    • r/CruciblePlaybook: Keeping to the theme of Reddit, check out this godly PvP resource. Yes, I know: you don't like PvP. Neither did I, until I realized I needed to play it to get the best gear. And then got better at it. And then found out I actually really do like it a lot.
    • r/Fireteams: This page helps facilitate matchmaking for any and all group activities. People often post about raids. It's a bit slow, but can lead to more substantive groups. I see a lot of people here posting about running raids "blind"–that is, figuring out the mechanics without a sherpa or walkthrough–so it's a great resource if that's what you're hoping to do.
    • r/DestinySherpa: I saved the most important for last. This page is full of sherpas who will teach and guide you through Destiny raids. You can post there looking for help, and stay tuned for scheduled raids offered by the sherpas. It's your best resource. I learned half of the raids through this site, and met a bunch of good friends along the way.

    4. Familiarize Yourself with the Raids!

More or less, this tip is an extension of the last step. Familiarize yourself with the raids as much as possible in advance! Watch videos on YouTube–both the thorough walkthroughs and the fun stuff. Learn the nicknames, the roles, the history, whatever you can. It really doesn't take that much time, and it will make a world of difference when you actually start.

As far as learning specific raids goes, my advice is to start simple and work your way up. (Of course, I did the exact opposite of what I'm telling you to do: jumped into a Last Wish without any gear or knowledge of what a raid really was!)

It's hard to say which raid is the easiest, since so much of raiding is situational. The same raid can take one hour or five depending on the group. Is one person learning for the first time, or are five? Is your Sherpa any good? Did people actually budget the time they need to finish–or are they going to have to start homework three hours into your Divinity run?

In terms of easiest to figure out as a first timer, my own ranking is the following:

    1. Eater of Worlds (EoW)
    2. Scourge of the Past (SotP)
    3. Leviathan (Levi)
    4. Crown of Sorrow (CoS)
    5. Spire of Stars (SoS)
    6. Garden of Salvation (GoS)
    7. Last Wish (LW)

The first two are the easiest to learn, with simple roles and relatively modest mechanics. I'd recommend starting with Scourge of the Past; it's the right mix of easy and popular. The encounters are fairly simple, and you more likely to find a group to run it because it has a chance to drop Anarchy, one of the most sought-after exotics in the game.

Eater of Worlds is definitely shorter and easier, but your odds of finding a group are a bit lower because it's an old raid with no loot incentives. (I mean, what Titan wants to grind for this set?) That said: some people regularly run the Y1 raids for fun, and some sherpas teach it regularly because of how easy it is pick up. If you see a chance to join an EoW, jump on it!

In the second tier are Leviathan and Crown of Sorrow. Both are a tad harder than the first two. Levi is a bit longer and has more content to absorb compared to SotP and Eater, but the mechanics are fairly easy and the raid difficulty hasn't really kept up with the rest of the game.

Crown is essentially a glorified raid lair; it's not amazingly long or complicated. It is a tad busy on the ground, with lots of running back-and-forth, so it's a bit more pressure and offers a few more chances to screw up. It's a lot of fun, and you'll still be able to pick it up very quickly.

In my opinion, the next tier includes the hardest three raids. Spire of Stars isn't actually super-hard, but it has what might be the most mechanic-heavy encounter in the game: a very long and intricate boss fight with many stages and technicalities. That part can take forever if people make mistakes (as I often have!).

Garden isn't amazingly hard, but it has a handful of tricky parts–especially a final boss that is almost as easy to screw up as SoS. I'd recommend skipping Divinity for your first few learning runs, since the quest adds time; I'd bet money people start dropping before you finish.

Last Wish is the longest raid, with a number of demanding sections that require a diverse loadout. It's also the best raid in the game in my opinion. It's a stunning arena to explore with great encounters, as well as a cool premise and an exotic that makes all those heartbreaking Riven cheeses worth it in the end.

    5. Find People to Play With!

Ok, now you're onto the final step. Find people to play with. This part is obvious, but it's also hard–especially if you're new to Destiny or MMOs in general.

Some of you might need to start by getting over your fear of playing with others. I was in that position. My suggestion is this: if you're new to multiplayer activities, start simple. Keep an eye out on LFGs for straightforward, easy stuff–like running the story missions or a few strikes–then move on to exotic quests, Iron Banner, or other more challenging tasks.

Assuming you're ready to raid, there are many, many resources available to you. I've already mentioned r/DestinySherpa above. Go there ASAP if you haven't yet!

Next, I strongly recommend join a clan! Look for a decently sized and active one, as well as one with a social dynamic you enjoy. Many clans have Sherpa programs or offer regularly scheduled teaching raids; good clans want to keep members, so they will provide resources. However, don't just start spamming the channels to get Divinity carries. Chat with your sherpas like they are human beings; get a sense of their schedules, and figure out the sorts of raids they like to run. (Remember Step 1: be patient!)

There are a handful of other sites and apps open to first-timers. The 100.io is solid, featuring a handful of good Sherpas who schedule teaching raids in advance. I was able to learn all of the Y1 raids there; use the filters to cycle through all of the raids one by one until you get lucky.

The Destiny app is more inconsistent, but useful nonetheless. Yes, there are lots of KWTD posts with ridiculous stipulations. That said, friendly teams or good sherpas often go there to pick up an extra player in a pinch. I'd recommend putting on the raid filter and checking regularly–you might get lucky. (It does have a schedule function, though it's rarely used.)

Discord also hosts many other Destiny servers besides clans, including a few official ones. Keep your eyes peeled on Reddit and elsewhere for raid-focused servers, hosted by clans or individuals. There aren't a ton and they pop up infrequently, but they offer great places to learn raids.

Ok. that is that. Now get raiding, and please comment with any thoughts!

Seasonal content should add to pre-existing content as well as adding new content.

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 02:48 PM PDT

This would be as simple as new modifiers in pre-existing modes like Gambit, strikes, nightmare hunts, menagerie etc up to new maps and encounters for these activities added or rotated per season. Gambit could use simply new taken blockers rotated or new mechanics, just some general love. They could make a new nightmare hunt using existing areas of the moon and a new boss that mirrors the present season such as nightmare of [important season of the Worthy boss fight], nightmare of inotam, and nightmare of the undying mind or the other boss in vex offensive. The nightmares could use the same areas these encounters if it seams reasonable such as the undying minds fight, or inotams could be simulated in the pyramid ship, others like the season of the Worthy's fight may need to be on the moon such as near the bunker.

    Optimized Bounties For 4/4/2020

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 03:16 PM PDT

Introducing the latest in bounty farming efficiency metrics: Bounties per Minute! With this measure we can streamline the Destiny 2 play experience even further, diluting the bounty-clearing gameplay loop into a fine slurry that can be administered by IV at the highest non-lethal dose possible!

Step 1 - Embrace the future.

Step 2 - Pick up the following Dailies. Weeklies can be found here.

    Tower Bounties:

    • Zavala Daily – Vanguardian Kill 50 Enemies in Strikes
    • Zavala Daily – Show Them The Light – 5 Super Kills in Strikes
    • Shaxx Daily – Burn Bright – Cast Your Super Twice in Crucible
    • Shaxx Daily – Lightbearer – 3 Ability Kills in Crucible
    • Shaxx Daily – On the Mark – 3 Precision Kills in Crucible
    • Shaxx Daily – Full Control – Play 1 Control Match
    • Drifter Daily – Blockade – Send a Small, Medium, and Large Blocker in Gambit
    • Drifter Daily – Line 'em Up – As a Fireteam, Kill 5 Guardians in Gambit
    • Drifter Daily – Not Your Mama's Combat Drill – 50 Kills in Gambit
    • Drifter Daily – Face-to-Face – Summon 2 Primevals in Gambit

    Planetaries

    • Rasputin – Rotating Patrols – Complete Patrols on Mars, Titan, or Moon/Complete Crucible 4v4 Rotator Playlist Matches
    • Rasputin – Fallen Auto Avenger – Kill Fallen/Auto Rifle Kills in Crucible
    • Rasputin – Hive Machine – Kill A Hive Boss/Machine Gun Kills in Crucible
    • Eris Morn – I Said What I Fragment – Collect 2 Phantasmal Fragments on the Moon
    • Eris Morn – Element of Surprise – 15 Energy Weapon Streak Kills
    • Eris Morn – Unscathed Deathdealer – 10 Power Weapon Streak Kills
    • Devrim Kay – Superhuman – 3 Super Multikills in the EDZ
    • Devrim Kay – Deadeye – 10 Precision Kills in the EDZ
    • Sloane – Walk the Beat – Complete 2 Patrols on Titan
    • Sloane – Community Service – Complete 2 Public Events on Titan
    • Sloane – Crackshot – 10 Precision Kills on Titan

Step 3 - Follow these steps:

    1. Fly TO THE MOOOOOOOOOON, grab Eris's bounties, and buy two Phantasmal Fragments from the Lecetern. Then grab Rasputin's bounties. Head to Sorrow's Harbor and kill one Nightmare from a wave of Altars of Sorrow. Then pick either the K1 Logistics or K1 Communion Lost Sector, and slay out. (20 minutes)
    2. Fly to the EDZ, grab Devrim's bounties, then run the EDZ Strike of your choice (Arms Dealer or Lake of Shadows). (15 minutes)
    3. Play one Control match. (10 minutes) Depending on your luck/skill, you may need another Crucible match of any type to finish ability kills/super casts. (10 minutes)
    4. Play two Gambit Prime matches. (20 minutes)
    5. Fly to Titan, grab Sloane's bounties, then run two Public Events and three patrols during/in between them. She only wants two, but I think the Rasputin bounty wants three. (15 minutes)

    Total Non-Elemental Non-Weapon-Specific Bounties Cleared: 21 Dailies

    Total Time: 80-90 minutes

    Bounties Per Minute: .2625 - .2333333 repeating

    Rewards:

    • 126,000 XP (unmodified)
    • 12,000 XP per Weekly (unmodified)
    • 150 Fry Bits
    • 10 Vanguard Tokens, 2/8 Vanguard Weekly Challenge
    • 20 Crucible Tokens, 4/8 Crucible Weekly Challenge
    • 4/8 Gambit Weekly Challenge
    • 15 Helium Filament
    • 10 Dusklight Shards
    • 15 Alkane Dust

    Extra Element/Weapon Specific Bounties

    • Mars and Mercury are both easy with Arc weapons today.
    • Nessus is easy today with a Void weapon. If you grab Rasputin's Powerful Vex bounty, I think you can get this done with two Vex Lost Sectors.
    • Zavala wants Shotgun and Solar kills in Strikes, and Banshee wants Solar Kills. Grab a Solar Shotgun for your EDZ Strike for three easy bounties.
    • Banshee's other bounties (Hand Cannon, Sidearm, Sword) can be run anywhere.

NOTE: The bounties per minute thing is kind of a joke? But kind of not. For those wondering how I make decisions on which methods are most efficient I generally aim for 1 bounty per 5 minutes of play (obviously more, if I can get it). Hence why I usually recommend 2 Crucible/Gambit Prime matches for 4 bounties, but not for 3 bounties. This is an entirely arbitrary rule that you are free to ignore. I've never literally done the math on it before, but just for shits and giggles, I'm going to start including that number in the post. If it ever drops below .2, it's a very bad day for bounties.

Given Trials very poor beginning to life in Destiny 2, id LOVE to know what the community summit specifically for trials entailed.

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:16 PM PDT

Far as I know, a good bunch of PVP streamers/YouTubers were invited to Bungie studios for a summit based on Trials, it was like 3/4 months ago and a few streamers alluded to the fact it was for trials, what was shown/discussed there? How was it shown to Streamers and influencers in this state and STILL released?

Can we get any word from the Community Managers on if there’s any kind of update coming for Gambit in the near future?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 03:39 PM PDT

It's such a unique mode. I know a bit of people aren't a fan but it still has a lot of players and is considered a core activity of Destiny.

Just wondering if we could get any word on if an update is coming for it? Maybe new maps or weapons or limited time modes?

    Firefly needs a buff

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 11:15 AM PDT

Just title really. I really enjoy this game even despite all of it's flaws, but I do want to say I think bungie are doing a generally good job with the general perk pool for pve at least. They've added swashbuckler, multikill clip, feeding frenzy. These were just variations of murder to buff damage or reload. But they added vorpal weapon in order to give special weapons and some primarys a bigger piece of the pie and even firing line for snipers and a machine gun. But I think bungie needs to rework the perk they dedicated an entire pinnacle weapon to. Especially because it doesn't break the ammo economy or has never been apparent in the meta.

Why do I have to go to every planet for bounties when our characters are a space faring race gone past calls/text/email?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 05:46 AM PDT

Literally the title but I'm just fed up with travelling everywhere in what has become the bounty simulator of my life. Can't we get a bounty board in game where I can get the bounties and do the thing with the stuff in it. If I get a weapon at the end then sure I'll go to the tower for it but for crying out loud using this mechanic to space the game out is just not working for anyone.

Update: Wow thank you all for the up votes. Never been so popular also an extra special thank you to the person who gave gold too. Thank you 😎👍

5 Things I Learned From Farming Legend NF This Week (Letting Flame Rain From The Skies)

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:53 AM PDT

As many of you I have been farming the Nightfall this week taking advantage of the double drop farm. So far I've probably done somewhere around 100, maybe more, all with people from LFG and I've had so many discoveries surrounding MODs. Mostly, people don't know how to use them even tho they have been out for 7 months give or take already.

I've been going in with Mostly people over 1010 power level who have Chronicler, Unbroken, Enlightened, MMX, etc tittles this seems to mean nothing when it comes to reading a 2 second description on your weapons and mods.

    Here are my findings:

1- People don't know how to use unstoppable. I see so many hand cannons being spammed without taking the 2 secs to aim and proc the mod before shooting.

2- People don't know Divinity has overload. I've had people run from overloads, because they can't stop them even tho they have divinity equiped.

3- People don't use the correct elemental weapons/mods. I've had so many bringing just solar or arc even tho all you need is void for the shields (One arc Wanted enemy). You might bring the best weapons, but if you don't at least have a void subclass those shields are going to be a pain. There's always that one guy that wants to use their non mod weapon or exotics. (Bringing their bygones with no other mod weapon equiped) People who have a high damage exotic equiped yet only use primary even for boss fights.

4- People get butthurt easily. I've been told I'm a hater, a noob, a racist simply by asking if they know how to use unstoppable when I see them spamming hand cannon shots and not using it properly.

5- People don't know the difference between some champions or know what mods work on certain champions. You see some spamming divinity on unstoppable instead of switching to their own hand cannon and shooting first. (Yes they were the only unstoppable in the team)

If this is what we have to work with God bless us all.
