The Worst Part about Going on a Break from the Game Now Versus the past 5 years of the Franchise is I Won't Come Back to a Pile of New Stuff to Do.

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 08:44 AM PDT

This is why I hate the newest iteration Seasonal System. There is no skipping a less desirable content drop then doing it in the background when the game feels good to come back. This was great especially last year. Took a break from the game half way through Season of the Forge and came back at the end of Season of the Drifter. Had lots to do when combined with Opulence. If I skip this season, I miss out on literally all of the Seasonal Content.

Trials doesn't count. It's a mode I bought the game for 2 and a half years ago. I guess I will half Grandmaster Strikes but that does not compare to real content build up. Even coming back in Warmind after skipping CoO had better build up content in the form of Exotics than that.

I really hope next year is actually different but I fear it will be equal to or worse than this.

Edit 1: Wow this took off fast. For context I would not have bought Shadowkeep' DD if I had known seasons were going to be THIS impermanent.

Edit 2: if it wasn't obvious I am referring to post Shadowkerp Seasons. Year 2 Seasons were permanent additions that built up.

Edit 3: I also get the game can't have Infinite playlists and new activities, but considering 5 exotic weapons are now unavailable if you didn't play particular seasons, and upgrades to patrols zones (Obelisks, Bunkers, Harder Lost Sectors, the new public event) will just disappear. They can't be taking up that many resources (unlike Sundial and Vex Offensive) and they offer unique ways to keep earning the old Seasonal loot (which anyone could grind out anyways regardless of purchase). The new public event is basically EP v2 (although I do not like the mechanics as much) and it has a very healthy loot pool. Would've been really nice to see more reasons like it for patrol. Instead it isn't staying.

Flew to the tower got all my bounties, flew to the moon got my Rasputin bounties was about to start doing them when I just stopped right before going to clear the bunker...

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 07:17 PM PDT

This isn't fun anymore.. I've been playing this game since it launched back in 2014 and this is the first time this has happened. No one will care if one more guardian drifts off into the darkness but I'm getting real close to just walking away from Bungie. The gunplay is still amazing, the music and background art are fantastic. I still love playing destiny, I just hate how Bungie won't let me play my way. (Bounties shouldn't be the core gameplay loop)

Small but hilarious Easter egg in the tower hanger, on the wall next to the stairs is a "days since last accident" counter, mine was at 001 days. When I jumped off the map it reset back to 000.

Small but funny Easter egg, probably old news but I just found it in the wild.

Edit: If you want to see it yourself it's directly across from Amanda Holiday on the wall.

I wanna personally thank Bungie for helping me practice my english and learn cool biology facts at the same time

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 04:27 PM PDT

There are so many plants and animals that until now I hadn't even wondered how to translate, I am already very fluent in english but untill today i had no idea what a honeydew was, or watercress, so any time i get a new error code and I dont know what species it is I go and google it. I'm learning so much.

the amount of codes and crashes is unbearable even for daily avid players like myself.I plan on getting to artifact level +30 but I can't change character to pick up bunties cause the game crashes...

FYI, my conection is fine I quadrupled checked and I just cleared my console cache, and I'm not the only one with this issues.

Wow first silver, thanks! but the real MVP is Bungie.

I'm Going to Laugh if GM Nightfalls end up being Less Rewarding than the Bugged Warden of Nothing on Master Difficulty

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 05:02 PM PDT

Don't call me a prophet when the only reward for GM (1060 power) nightfalls is a guaranteed exotic and a shard.

FYI - this week the Warden of Nothing Nightfall is bugged to give double rewards.

If you're 1020+ you can easily clear it in 15-20 mins and get huge hauls of shards and exotics.

I'm just sitting here in the salt waiting room for all the people who hard grind their power by doing tedious bounties to get less rewards than this week's Master NF.

Expecting to be right, would be pleasantly surprised to be wrong. :)

The majority of us "top" players DON'T want you guys to have no rewards and have a bad time in Trials.

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 05:34 PM PDT

There's been a constant negativity going around on all sides lately. How many posts need to be made about "There's nothing more satisfying than seeing streamers being salty" or "The top players wanted a game mode with all the rewards to themselves and you hate it."

No, this isn't what we wanted. We don't want all the rewards to ourselves. We don't want you guys to be gated from your sniper rifles and shotguns. We don't want you guys to not be able to get some cool trials armor. We don't want these things to ourselves. We wanted things like trials armor flawless ornaments, adept versions of weapons with slight improvements on perks that aren't even usable in quickplay (I'd say celerity as an extra third perk on adept weapons, but Bungie went and made it ridiculously good, it gives the weapon third eye and highlights all targets when scoped as hidden perks on top of the perks in the description... so celerity is too strong to give to adept weapons), we wanted maybe a new shader, or a ship. Cosmetic rewards to show people that we went flawless, but not literally the gear itself, that should be ANYBODY'S reward, whether or not you are even able to win a single match. Everyone deserves to have their time spent playing trials to be rewarded. Not just me. Not just the streamers. Not just people getting carried or paying for it.

We're all turning against each other here when we legitimately want you guys to play Trials. We want you to have a reason to play Trials. And it's not so that we can just beat you up repeatedly, because I don't want to spend my time in the early matches of a new ticket, I want to go flawless and continue my ticket for as long as possible for a chance to unlock a sweet new emblem. Yeah, like in Destiny 1. Those matches were fun matches, we already had our rewards from the lighthouse but we could still get more gear while playing as well as a chance at certain cosmetic rewards. You want us flawless players to play in our own flawless playlist, we're more than happy to do it as long as there's an incentive, even as small as an emblem with a rare chance to drop at the end of a post-flawless card match. We don't want to beat up on you guys, we want to keep playing harder matches. We just need to be incentivised to do that, and not have a stronger incentive (token farming) to ruin your experiences.

I personally didn't token farm. I don't like the idea. But many people just wanted that god rolled Astral Horizon. It's not their fault that the best way to get it was to ruin the Trials experience for other players. We shouldn't be directly angry at those players, they're just doing what they're incentivised to do. The root of the issue is the way the game mode and reward system is set up. Us players, all of us, aren't to blame for the current state of Trials. Some of us are to blame for being assholes about the whole situation, but that's a different conversation. The current state of Trials is absolutely unacceptable, and it's not our fault as a community. Nobody asked for this version of Trials. Nobody asked for this incredibly one-sided reward system. Nobody asked for expected rewards to not exist compared to D1.

And keep in mind, this doesn't even bring the issues of cheating, DDoSing, and server kicks into the conversation. Those are additional problems on top of the ones that exist at the core of the game mode. We don't need to talk about those.

I just hate the fact that we're so split on this issue, that low skill players think that high skill players hate them and want them to have nothing. Most of us want you to experience the game and be rewarded for your time. We want you to be able to grow and learn. We want people to have a chance to improve. We want every potential Trials player to want to come back weekend after weekend with determination that you'll get one win further in your card this time because you not only want to, but you need to improve. The true Trials mindset isn't about gatekeeping, it's about building each other and ourselves up.

I want you guys, from the lowest cannon fodder to the average player to the crucible god, to feel rewarded for your time AND your skills. Trials needs ALL players, regardless of skill, to be successful. Most of us skilled players know this. The low skill players deserve to have their time rewarded with sweet new gear. Want to look like a Trials player but you can't go flawless? That's fine, you ARE a Trials player, you're just not a flawless one and that's okay. The top streamer wants to shine with the Traveler's light? Absolutely, your skill shines and so should your hunter (we already know you're a hunter main). The average player wants to have a shot at the lighthouse? With time and effort, you should be able to get there, even if you're sitting just below a 1.0k/d. There's luck involved with the tickets just as much as skill, and the effort you put in to improve will eventually get you where you want to go. All of you guys matter here and not a single person should feel left out.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the design choice that the developers made for the game. I'm not going to throw blame around here, but I will say that this isn't what I wanted. This isn't what many of us high skill players wanted. I never wanted low skill players to suffer for me and my friends to go flawless and get some armor glows. You guys deserve so much more than that. So instead of fighting each other and reveling in the frustrations of each other, we should really come together instead and try to understand each other. We all deserve better than this.

The bug in the nightfall ordeal is the best part of the game this week.

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 04:17 PM PDT

The game for me and my friends was more enjoyable because of the double loot for warden of nothing because it helped us and so many more people to get the materials for master-working their armour and that really made a difference for the game because trials was not working for us and now that trials is a sweat feast, the nightfall ordeal changed that we didn't get tilted and we got the rewards we wanted and me and my friends( and maybe some of you) now have master-worked armour and amazing rolls on our exotics.

Why does Bungie not enforce their terms of service for paid account recoveries/carries?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 04:20 PM PDT

Every time I log into twitch or browse LFG (Even on the destiny 2 official app), there is people advertising paid carries, paid recoveries etc.

This is explicitly against the terms of service as cited here from the terms of service page :

    PERSONAL AND NON-COMMERCIAL USE LIMITATION

Unless otherwise specified, the Bungie Services are for your personal and non-commercial use.

By way of example, and not as a limitation, you agree that when using a Communication Service, you will not:

    • Advertise or offer to sell or buy any goods or services for any business purpose

    • Impersonate any other individual or entity.

There is people streaming on twitch RIGHT NOW to thousands of people that EXPLICITLY violate these terms, yet I never see anything being done about it. Why?

Bungie, there is one thing I want to commend you for, and that's Prime Engrams. Thank you for giving them a purpose past the powerful cap.

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 11:59 AM PDT

Remember how Prime Engrams were jackshit useless once you reached the cap?

They were just fancy legendary engrams? Not even worth the effort to turn them in?

Well now, every single prime engram that decrypts into a piece of armor as a pretty good chance of being a pretty good roll.

Of course, half of them still turn into weapons (useless junk), but I understand that we still need that powerful source in terms of leveling up your gear and such...

But every time it decrypts into a piece of armor? I actually get EXCITED. I've had tons of +60 world drops thanks to Prime Engrams. It's actually awesome that I don't have to play the Raid or Iron Banner in order to get high stat gear.

I'm actively searching for a good set of arms I can set to arc affinity. And now, every time I turn in the prime engram, I can hope for that and get a worthwhile reward, despite having been at the cap for the past 3 weeks.

Good job Bungie. It's not perfect, but it's certainly better, and it's definitely great to have a small, casual, background task that has a small chance of getting you something TRULY worth keeping.

My latest reward. Simply picked up after a Public Event.

Bungie, Lightweight shotguns still have far too low ammo in reserves

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 04:02 PM PDT

It's been like this forever and it truly shafts Lightweight shotguns for PvE content, where they're actually not bad at all in any other metric.

Here's the order in which they go in terms of Rate of Fire, starting from highest RoF to lowest.

    • Rapid Fire
    • Lightweight
    • Precision
    • Aggressive

So you'd think this would be, more or less, how their ammo counts would work, right? Obviously the ones that do less damage per shot need more in reserve, right? Right?

    lol no

Here's how it actually goes--I went into the Tribute Hall and had no Shotgun Reserves armor mod equipped.

    • Rapid Fire (Threat Level): 25
    • Aggressive (Python): 17
    • Precision (Dust Rock Blues): 16
    • Lightweight (Emperor's Courtesy): 14

Aggressive shotguns have the second highest ammo reserves, despite the highest damage per trigger pull! Lightweight is the lowest and lemme tell you, you feel it. You really feel it.

A Lightweight shotgun can empty its entire reserves before an Aggressive shotgun gets even halfway through theirs. Every time I run a Strike with a Lightweight shotgun I run dry, but I never encounter that with my Threat Level or Python--simply because Threat Level can kill plenty of things with one shot anyway, and Python hits like a truck, and both have tons of ammo.

My poor Emperor's Courtesy or Seventh Seraph CQC-12 with a total of 14 shots (literally only two magazines of ammo) are half-empty if you kill one mob.

Why does Python get more than three magazine's worth of ammo when the Lightweights have to scrape by with only two? The small mobility boost you get from carrying them is NOT worth hamstringing your longevity in a fight.

I don't even need Shotgun Scavenger mods or anything with Threat Level or Python, and I do fine. If I do try to use a Lightweight I need Special Ammo Finder, Shotgun Scavenger, and I still have to carefully pick my shots and hope RNGesus drops green bricks every so often.

This isn't even counting perks like Trench Barrel or One-Two Punch (which help increase the mileage you get from ammo) because you can get both of those perks on either the CQC-12 or Emperor's Courtesy, respectively. They're still way too shallow to use in PvE when you can very easily run out of shots, fast.

Shotgun reserves don't need a nerf, just buff Lightweight shotguns up to a level that matches their rate of fire.

It's no "XP Throttling", but 3x Infamy is now gone

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 06:02 PM PDT

Every previous iteration of "Bonus Infamy Week" has been Tues reset through Fri reset = 2x Infamy, Fri reset through Tues reset = 3x Infamy. Yesterday I noticed I was only getting 2x. I wanted to be sure it wasn't the same bug with Trials loot resetting at a weird time so I waited until after 5pm PDT today. Still just 2x.

Huge deal? Probably not. Shitty that it changed with no comment from Bungie? Definitely. I can't decide if I'm more convinced it's intentional or a bug at this point.

I was thinking either give them more range and aim assistance or rework all 110s to a brandnew 130rpm. 130 would be a tad bit faster but still slower than the other sub-achetypes.

Focus on Adding Strikes and Dungeons

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 07:37 AM PDT

NOTE: Luke Smith touched on this subject in his "Director's Cut" post, so they are thinking about it at least

The current Season format is a waste of developer time and resources.

    1. Developers should be making content that stays and contributes to the long term of the game.
    2. Scarcity tactics of FOMO is not enticing to players.
    3. Players are not engaged by busywork and/or half-baked game modes.

Q1-Q3 should focus on Adding Strikes & Dungeons and release an Expansion in Q4.

    Dungeons & Strikes that offer

    1. A contained story, with a clear Villain, that also connects to the larger narrative
    2. Engaging Mechanics and Boss fights
    3. Loot: Gear & Cosmetics - A reason to keep going back

Rewards including; Weapons, Armor, Shaders, Lore, Ornaments, Sparrows, Ghost Shells, etc.

As an instanced activity Bungie could have them take place anywhere in the Destiny universe, not necessarily restricting them to already existing Worlds and Zones.

This is an Action MMO, so focus on the gameplay that is the most engaging - the group content; Strikes, Dungeons, and Raids.

As well as some Quests for the world: Side Story quests, Exotic quests, unique bounties, etc. to create the Evolving World but focus on adding engaging content that is going to stick around and players will want to come back to.

It's alright if there is some form of a seasonal activity but there cannot be such a heavy focus on it. Players do not enjoy doing endless mindless chores or temporary shallow game modes.

    EDIT: The Q4 Expansion would include these basics (at minimum);

    1. An Epic Storyline that concludes that Year long story arc
    2. New Patrol Zone(s)
    3. Quests, Adventures, Public Events, Lost Sectors, etc.
    4. Zone specific Activity (like Blind Well, Escalation Protocol, etc)
    5. A Raid
    6. Gameplay Rewards including; Weapons, Armor, Shaders, Lore, Ornaments, Sparrows, Ghost Shells, etc.

(EDIT: None of this is to say ignore PvP)

You guys are right, it is speculation to say Bungie is working on other things when they haven't said they are. But it's also obvious that they are working on more than these tiny seasons.

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 05:15 AM PDT

It's also obvious why Bungie, or any other business, wouldn't tell you about some large upcoming things they have developing when they still want you to spend money on the things they have available now.

I'm not talking about some new IP, and I don't want to speculate about Destiny 3 or a fall expansion, despite the fact that given Bungie's cadence, interviews with Bungie, studio tours of Bungie, Jason Schreier articles, leaks, and lore bits all pointing to that cadence continuing, among the community managers coming straight out and saying they can't create ritual weapons because their team is stretched too thin... I'm going to go ahead and say you would be foolish to think they aren't actively working on something other than what's happening in the upcoming seasons.

Beyond that you can look at the design language of the seasonal content, and you can see that quite a lot of it shares design principles as the content we got way back in Year 1 and 2. Not only that but Bungie themselves have admitted that by the time they get feedback on something they are so far on to the next project that they can't actually implement it.

People are questioning if this is the best Bungie can do, these tiny seasons, and it seems pretty illogical to think that's the case. But it's likely the best they can do now, and that clarifier has a purpose

We have a responsibility as consumers to react to being given products we don't like, and we are doing that. But we're also blindly following this path by allowing the discussion to follow the same path it always has. People looking to the future should not be lambasted, it's obvious Bungie is putting more focus on things other than what we are getting right now, so why don't we realize that and start asking Bungie to show us exactly what it is they are working on? Instead of just calling the entire thing a dumpster fire like we always do?

It always seemed a bit ironic to me, it benefits Bungie's business model for us to be so focused on the present and not look to the future, and yet, out of outrage towards Bungie, that is exactly what a lot of people here end up doing.

I have the best time playing D2 when I don't care about bounties.

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 02:04 AM PDT

Some days, I just load up, don't visit the tower and load into the activity I want, and play the game.

I pick whatever gun I feel like playing with and transfer with dim.

But this literally goes against the design of progression in this game right now. Now I'm more stressed about getting over 100 levels of the season pass before I can actually not worry about bounties.

I wish bounties were preloaded into each activity without having to pick stuff up from each vendor and activities gave more xp to the season pass than bounties.

Bottom tree Dawnblade is in a terrible spot and needs a rework

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 04:57 PM PDT

With the nerf to the speed that dawnblade received on super activation, it has dropped off the map completely and needs some love. Prior to its nerf bottom tree Dawnblade was arguably the best PvP super in the game but that is all the path had. The neutral game does not exist on it, every perk is aimed toward the super. Now that the super has been nerfed, the path has nothing going for it. It has no place in PvE, which is a shame, and is struggling to have a place in PvP. Bungie please consider reworking this path. Give it a neutral game or something.

"True Pinnacle weapons" / New rarity concept

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 05:03 PM PDT

I don't ever post here but Twitter doesn't allow me to get what i want to say all down in one so here:

A tweet from Gladd today got my imagination going and ideas i'd had in the past came together to create this concept.

Create a new Rarity for weapons between Legendary and Exotic.

Maybe call it "Adept" and make the colour black or red or something else that hasn't been used? (it sounds like it fits right? Common, uncommon, rare, legendary, adept, exotic)

    - Only 1 can be equipped at a time (similar to exotics) but does not interfere with exotic use (you can use an Exotic and an "Adept" weapon if you want)

    - These can follow the same design philosophy that Year 2 pinnacle weapons did (Maybe having unique perks/being better than legendary weapons in some way)

    - They should be obtained through "pinnacle" level content (not in the same way that pinnacle power drops are given out, thats not much of an endgame) EG: Flawless Trials chest, Flawless raids, Solo Dungeon. But they can also be obtained (like pinnacles/rituals) from the "core" gamemodes: Strikes/Gambit/Crucible, but through quests that require either a decently large time investment or display of skill (Don't give them out for free and actually make people work/earn for them). They need to create both feelings of accomplishment when you get one and desire to get them that's incentive to both the casual and hardcore audience.

    - NO RNG (simple, a carrot on a stick)

Some current legendarys (certain pinnacles mainly) could even be converted into "Adept" weapons to set a pre-existing bar for the quality and power of these guns. Emphasis on "some", its not like Oxygen is getting much use (DW I still love you), just the ones that are already considered powerful. It also prevents powerful things like this to be combined for the loadout potential we have today (looking at you pocket rocket and kill-all SMG).

Thing is, there can't be too many of them. If there's an abundance of "Adept" weapons they lose their power and prestige, kinda like how there's so many exotics. Each year of content could have: One flawless trials, one Flawless raid, one solo dungeon and one of each vanguard/crucible/gambit.

    - - -

One of the games core issues right now is lack of any incentive to play. Give hardcore players these weapons they can go chase and use, giving some fresh life to the game like most new stuff does. It'll also give casual players something they can see and work towards.

Weapon rewards right now, before weapon retirement becomes a thing aren't special, because there's so many, from the worst legendary to the Recluses and mountaintops. The endgame only has two rarities to go chase, so add another layer of depth while also making cool stuff that we actually want to use.

    - - -

IDK why I posted this, its an idea so will almost certainly never happen. It also probably wont even get seen but why not try? Hello to the 3 people who read this far :D

Improve season pass by adding silver as a reward.

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 07:24 PM PDT

Bungie should add silver to the season pass, not asking for much. Just 100 silver for every 10 tiers. This would add value to the battle pass as people can choose a reward from Eververse.

And also if people don't have the season they can purchase the pass once and save the silver they earn to purchase the next pass.

It would be nice if Enhanced Armor mods had some sort of a color variant to them.

I realize there's a "+" underneath, but something along the lines of this: https://imgur.com/gallery/X26V3tv would really help to quickly discern the difference between a basic mod and something that is an Enhanced version.

The Warden Of Nothing is a really easy nightfall to hit 100k points

I can't say it's the easiest thing in the world, I do die sometimes from a slip up, or I got overwhelmed, but I have yet to wipe in it, and it has never taken my team longer than 15 minutes to clear it. However, I almost never reach 100k because my team always melts the boss before the mini-bosses have a chance to spawn! Even when they DO spawn, they keep their focus on the boss and ignore the mini-bosses. We always finish at like 90-95k, and killing those mini-bosses and some of the ads would have been enough to reach 100k. I've only actually hit 100k once because I was fortunate enough to have teammates who actually joined team chat and I asked if we could focus the mini-bosses first. Just kill the mini-bosses first, they're not too dangerous provided you have some cover, and they're not too tanky, so they don't take too long to kill.

Just kill them, please. I want ma pinnacles and enhanced mods!
