    Iron Banner is LIVE

    FAQ

    What is the Iron Banner?

    • Iron Banner is a week-long Crucible event in Destiny 2 that offers its participants unique rewards. More info can be read right over at Bungie.net

    • The game mode is an unique variant of Control - Control all three zones, and the Hunt will begin. The zones are locked down for 15 seconds, before they are reset to neutral state.

    • Unlike all other Crucible modes, Power Level matters. Meaning you will deal less and take more damage if you are below the Power Level of your opponent.

How Long does Iron Banner last?

    • Event Starts: Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to game with in the Iron Banner?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Iron Banner question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

    Seasonal Bounty

    • Each season features a seasonal quest you can pick up from Lord Saladin. After each quest step, you will be rewarded with an armor piece from the current season.

    • Progress will carry over to subsequent Iron Banners in the same season, but the quest will expire at the end of the season.

How to earn Iron Banner Tokens

    Match Completions:

    • Upon completing an Iron Banner Crucible match, players will be awarded with Iron Banner Tokens to turn in to Lord Saladin. While all Iron Banner match completions award tokens, wins award more tokens than losses.

      • Wins reward 5 Tokens.
      • Losses reward 3 Tokens.

    Weekly Bounties:

    • Players may earn additional Iron Banner Tokens by completing the Weekly Iron Banner Bounties. These can be completed on each character.

      • Weekly Bounty Reward - 50 Tokens
      • Each Weekly Bounty also rewards a piece of Pinnacle Gear.
    • There are seven different weekly bounties, of which four are available each IB. See below for a list!

    Available from Lord Saladin:

Lord Saladin oversees the Iron Banner. He appears in the tower, up the stairs to the right of the Gunsmith to bring Guardians Iron Banner based Weapons and Armor.

    Faction Rewards

Turn in 20 Tokens to get an Iron Banner engram, which contains randomly rolled weapons. After you've finished the seasonal quest, you can also receive randomly rolled armor.

    Iron Bounties

    Name Description Requirement Reward
Maneuver Warfare Defeat opponents while your team holds Zone Advantage. Earn bonus progress during the Hunt. 75 Opponents defeated XP & 50 Iron Banner Token & Pinnacle Gear
Victory Banners Complete matches in the Iron Banner playlist. Wins award bonus progress. 40 Matches completed XP & 50 Iron Banner Token & Pinnacle Gear
An Arsenal of Tricks Defeat opponents with final blows from any ability. Earn bonus progress for Supers and opponents with a higher Power level. 100 Opponents defeated XP & 50 Iron Banner Token & Pinnacle Gear
The Rout Defeat opponents in the Iron Banner. Earn bonus progress by landing final blows on opponents with a higher Power level. 250 Opponents defeated XP & 50 Iron Banner Token & Pinnacle Gear

    Additonal Iron Banner Rewards

You have a chance to get randomly rolled Iron Banner gear at the end of matches. This includes all available weapons & armor for the current season.

The Lie has been updated with 5x multi in the week and 10x on the weekends

Text for those who can't access Twitter:

We have made adjustments to "The Lie" Quest and Seraph Tower Difficulty.

💠 Champions have reduced power level and event progression has been slightly tuned.

💠 Effective immediately, quest progression has been given a 5x multiplier which will be increased to 10x on weekends.

After 24 hours, our progress is at 5%, 1% and 0%, putting us on pace for 50 days from now, well after the end of the season.

    Posted: 13 May 2020 10:03 AM PDT

This is assuming that participation stays constant (likely to decline over time) and that no runs are "wasted" (For example, runs on the EDZ after it hits 100%). Thus, 50 days is conservative.

Does anyone think Bungie intended for our defenses to fail?

Edit: Bungie has announced an update: https://twitter.com/Bungie/status/1260677894348521472

Being promised a statue and then getting that tiny figurine is the perfect metaphor for the current state of Bungie's promise for content and Destiny 2.

I'm not just talking about season of the worthy. I'm talking about everything since season of opulence. (Shadowkeep and after.) It's been a huge disappointment. Do better bungie. Cmon.

This is probably a very niche problem but...

Why does the tower have cricket noises in the background? I have a bearded dragon that I occasionally feed crickets to and every time I go to get some bounties I feel like I have to check her cage for any uneaten leftovers.

Bungie plz nerf tower crickets thx

If we fail the event and Bungie still gives us the weapon, it sets a precedence that theres no point in participating.

    Posted: 13 May 2020 09:05 AM PDT

So far all community events Bungie has put on have been successful (the one on mars and the fractaline donations). If this one fails I honestly believe they won't give us the weapon in the way it was meant to be. The reason I believe this is because then it sets a precedence that you don't have to participate to get it done. I also believe Bungie isn't done with community events. Though they are not the most popular thing, Bungie has continued to do them and I don't see it stopping in the near future. Therefore they don't want future community events, to not have anyone participate. Another side is if this fails they will stop doing these and well that might be nice for some I don't see this as a likely possibility. I don't think they will throw away their work though, so they will most likely bring the weapon and its ornament into the game either next season or in the future. This could be either with the same quest with modified conditions, a completely different quest, or just adding it to the random loot pool.

Edit 1: I think community events could be fun, but its just what activity they choose to have the event be centered around (in this case being the Seraph Tower Public Events).

Edit 2: Bungie has nerfed the quest, making it easier to complete.

Accidentally dismantling a pinnacle drop because we’ve been so conditioned to instantly shard everything feels really bad

    Posted: 13 May 2020 06:32 PM PDT

The thing that every strike, crucible match, and essentially every other activity have in common is the post-activity ritual of dismantling whatever crap gets thrown at us. I'm tired of having to dismantle wave after wave of random blues and terribly rolled legendaries, we need auto dismantle so desperately. When something you need actually drops it's hard to avoid automatically tossing it in the trash with the rest of the overly plentiful loot that gets showered on us.

We need a "Food Court" in the Tower that offers perk sets.

    Posted: 13 May 2020 02:22 PM PDT

Different food stores/vendors would offer different perk sets that would last for a few hours and rotate every week:

Spicy Ramen Shop (Lasts 4 hours): 2% XP gains, gain additional resources, Increased chance of bright dust upon activity completion

Tower Tacos (Lasts 4 hours): x3 glimmer gain, boost reload speed for special weapons, earn additional crucible tokens

Pyramid's Pizza (Lasts 3 hours): Increased heavy ammo drops, increased chance of prime engram, faster weapon and stow speed

Eva's Bakery (Lasts 3 hours): Earn legendary shards upon activity completion, earn upgrade materials completing strikes, increased chance of exotic upon Nightfall completion.

The stores would have unique names and "offers" that rotate every week. No two combinations would be the same as it pulls randomly from a large list of different "perks". In-game currency would be used and prices would vary depending on the rarity/content of the perk list. I know this sounds akin to what we see in Monster Hunter World, but sometimes my Guardian needs to eat! To me it would offer a huge variety in play style and what I plan on doing in the world of Destiny for a few hours.

    What do you guys think?

Edit: These perks would be disabled in competitive playlists and World's First Raids.

Just wanted to share my hype. Took two hours and a good few wipes but I'm pretty proud of myself. Did it on a Titan too which I heard was hard but overall was less daunting than I expected. There's absolutely no chance of my doing it flawless any time soon though but Pit of Heresy I'm gonna try next

Bungie can you fulfill your promise and put the Skull of dire ahamkara ornament up for Bright Dust?

    Posted: 13 May 2020 12:45 PM PDT

Last season there was a ornament for the Skull of Dire Ahamkara that was supposed to be up for bright dust, however that week there was a issue and the skull never sold for dust.

You promised that this season it would be available for dust. We are less then a month away from [REDACTED] starting and we have no proof of the skin being up for dust, nor have you said a word about it.

    Any update?

The cutscene where we actually use the ridiculous number of Rasputin’s weapons we’ve built to attack the Almighty better be really awesome.

    Posted: 13 May 2020 11:33 AM PDT

After we've spent so much time and effort building Rasputin's immense defenses, it should be very impressive to see him actually use them.

Seriously guys, they're not going to delete Titan. It has a big place in vanilla story with recruiting Zavalla and Sloan, not to mention the Gambit, Strikes, and Crucible maps on it.

    Posted: 13 May 2020 06:58 PM PDT

It's also still one of the best looking "worlds" the game has.

And from a lore perspective, I don't think the darkness will destroy the massive hive infestation that is there.

They may kill Sloan (who cares?) and make it a "quarantined zone" like they did with the cosmodrome and we won't see it for a while but it won't be straight up deleted.

Edit: a few more people have added that a lot of exotics also have one step or another on Titan; Rat King, Thorn, Ace, etc....

    Destiny is boring now

    Posted: 13 May 2020 02:05 AM PDT

ever since shadowkeep this wonderful game has become more and more boring

i feel like this is the worst possible way destiny could fizzle out. Im not even burnt out either. I took a three month break and got back into it last week, and theres nothing fun to do. Theres a lot to do but theres nothing fun.

every gun i had fun with got nerfed, armour and mods are as convoluted and boring as ever, pinnacle power doesnt matter, the activities are boring as hell, ive done so many raids im sick of them.

Guardian games wasnt even content! its just doing the same of everything but you get some shitty medal!

This game is boring, this game is a chore, and nothing fun has happened since saint 14 and his quests.

    thats just my opinion.

just to note, im not a pvp player, i dont like trials. this is coming from a guy with 1000 hours so im just not some blind hater.

Can we appreciate Season of the Dawn for what it was? A wonderfully planned out time span of 3 months.

    Posted: 13 May 2020 09:47 AM PDT

Not a lot of people liked the last couple of weeks of Season of the Dawn but let's just take a headcount of what the season had for us.

    1. 3 really nice ritual weapons. (Never have I enjoyed invading in Gambit so much, until that season when I used the Tractor Cannon)
    2. A plethora of baller as fuck Legendary weapons. They look cool and they're competitive choices for day to day gameplay.
    3. A plethora of interesting mods. Granted the mods of this season are cool too but the first time's something else. Also because "Powerful Friends" exists.
    4. A well-crafted Seasonal activity with a good reward cycle from said activity.
    5. Some of the best Exotic quests of this year. Not too long, not too difficult to pursue. Plus we heard Shaxx sing.
    6. One of the best community puzzles to date that showcased the scary levels of creativity this community can achieve.
    7. The Dawning and Crimson Days were nice events.
    8. SAINT-FUCKING-14!!!!!!!!!!!

With all the negativity of this season coursing through the entire player base, let's take a moment to appreciate when the game was fun. For Saint and his pigeons, at least.

What if bows released their shots on death?

    Posted: 13 May 2020 07:39 AM PDT

    Pretty much just title

Technically the string is already pulled back, so wouldn't it be cool if the arrow just released in a random direction when you died. It would make for some funny kills.

Much better matchmaking is definitely needed for public space events, but I think keeping them in public spaces is also important.

    Posted: 13 May 2020 04:56 PM PDT

Finding a group is a big problem and they absolutely need to do something about this in the future. As many people have pointed out with Court, Archons, Escalation, Blind Well and Seraph Events, we've seen plenty of proof that we have a lot of issues finding a group and that needs addressing.

However, I've seen quite a few people suggest that they should be instances like the forges or menagerie etc.

I don't know what the general consensus of the community is, but for me, having them remain in a public space is a good thing. Yes add matchmaking, but keep them in a public space, it really does add a depth to the game world and it's a nice experience to occasionally sparrow past a level 6 escalation and go, you know what yeah sure I'll stop and help finish this off.

Towers can be completed without using LFG. Here are a few tips to help you finish them.

    Posted: 13 May 2020 07:31 PM PDT

First and foremost, don't stand on the plates. This is a big one. I see a lot of people talking about how the enemies teleport or fly to the plates. Actually, they're flying to you. While I was playing today I noticed if I position myself more aggressively, flying cabal were landing where I stood. They weren't passing me to get to the plate. By gluing yourself to the plate you're giving them the opening to land there, so spread out, be aggressive, and kill enemies as near their spawns as possible. This should be easy because you're gonna want to use Warmind cells.

Warmind cells are key. Most of us have figured out warmind cell builds to maximize their usefulness. As a horde mode, the add clearing potential of cells come in handy. I recommend an Arc build, Tyrant Surge and Global Reach, plus any other cell mods you want. And even if you're not generating cells, try to use them effectively. They've got a long time they can sit, so if one spawns at the end of a wave, it's likely you'll be able to make use of it on the next. But the goal here is to generate lots of cells and be able to make them on command, using your grenade and melee. With this, you can grenade a Major, blast your cell, wipe the red bars, and still focus down the major with your DPS weapon.

Bring a single target DPS option at all times. Regardless of what's going on, the Majors are the biggest pain in the ass and need to be focused down as quickly as possible. Always kill them first and if possible use a warmind cell to kill adds while you do.

Be aware of who's attacking the tower and bring weapons to counter the shields on the Majors. I know shields are easy to break without matching, but the stunning explosion will help you keep them off the tower.

I hope this helps someone out there get their Hardcoded Victory triumph, or at least helps you complete the towers a little more reliably. I was able to complete the event several times and get the triumph within a relatively short time using these strategies.

Edit: Don't forget about the Valkyries and Heavy Frames spawns. If you're a season pass holder, these are available once you've upgraded your tower. The heavy frames are loud, and do an amazing job at add clear, allowing you to focus the Majors more. If you don't hear one stomping around and shooting stuff, take a second to go make one!

    More Tips from comments:

Using the Tractor Cannon to debuff the Orb means that you can finish the tower with fewer throws. As a bonus, save those extra balls to get the next tower done even faster.

I'd love to see some more Trials of the Nine style weapons and armour and the old ones return with random roles and some ornaments, what do you guys think?

    Posted: 13 May 2020 07:19 AM PDT

The Nine had a really cool alien aesthetic and at this point are still very mysterious and I'd love to see the weapons return cause they looked cool as fuck and even another set on top of that, they were some of the most unique looking things in Destiny, just a shame the game mode wasnt as fun because of the weapon system and 4v4, would you want to see them?

P.S I want the Rise Of Iron Trials Weapons back too they were hella sexy

So for a while i have been putting together a Destiny 2 Exotic Quest list, and i decided a week ago to start to build a website to hold all this information. Whilst a few of the guides are still missing, i thought i would share it with you lovely people to see if anyone would find it helpful!

I welcome any thoughts or feedback on it, and if you like it, please share it. This has blood, sweat and tears poured into it, so would be nice to see people use it!
