Court of Oryx, Archon's Forge, Escalation Protocol, Blind Well and now Seraph Towers. How is it been 5 years and Bungie still never learned their lesson regarding patrol matchmaking for these events?

    Posted: 12 May 2020 12:29 PM PDT

Bungie, if you gonna make higher difficulty events that requires more than 7 - 9 players then why is it you keep making the same mistakes again and again of patrol matchmaking being so limited than you can never find more than 4/5 players to do these events?

Did you not learned from Court of Oryx?

Did you not learned from Archon's Forge?

Did you not learned from Escalation Protocol ESPECIALLY Escalation Protocol?

Did you not learned from Blind Well?

Then why are you doing the same mistake with Seraph Towers for the FIFTH TIME especially now its heroic and you expect us to complete it with 4-5 players for the community event?!

I just spent an hour and 4 times in a row it ends in failure because theres only 4-5 players in the area who can't keep up with 2 towers clearing adds and throwing charges.

This is seriously a waste of my effort and time doing these events because of their decision of patrol matchmaking being so limiting.

    Posted: 12 May 2020 11:39 AM PDT

The idea of community events is cool and all, but after the complete joke that Guardian Games was, I really don't see why 9 million public events seemed like a good idea.

    "The Lie"

    Posted: 12 May 2020 10:01 AM PDT

This mission was leaked a while back, but it's live today. Visit Ana on Mars.

EDIT: Looks like it's a community event.

Bungie confirmed on twitter that the completions are player based, not event based. So if 9 people complete an event, it counts as 9 completions instead of 1. This might not take as long as it seems.

    submitted by /u/Supreme_Math_Debater

I feel like no one is gonna try to get "The Lie" Done.

    Posted: 12 May 2020 10:17 AM PDT

We just spent however many weeks doing these public events over and over and over again and now they want us to do it some more. Who knows how many they want us to do. I for one grinded the seraph bunkers to max early and I'm pretty burnt out on doing those events. I don't know why Bungie wants us to run this tower so much. I thought this quest was gonna be something I as a single person could do for content, Even if it was busy work, But having it a "Community" event means that no matter how hard I try to get it done for me it most likely will take a long time. Being a community event most likely means that the number of completions is absolutely huge. Kinda a bummer...

Edit: For those that do not know, the completions are based on how many guardians are a part of the event and not just the event completion (9 guardians finishing an event counts for 9 completions). For me this makes the event a little easier to stomach, I don't want this post's replies to be all awful towards Bungie and I have already seen plenty of great ideas for how the event could be improved. Hopefully we can show Bungie that we would rather them handle the event differently without being awful about it!

    Thanks for upvotes!

Well bois it's been a good run. This one will take a while.

Update: already at 1%. This will go by fairly quickly.

Edit: Should have clarified earlier, every guardian running the towers who completes it counts as progress. Say 5 people complete one run, that's 5 towards the progress bar.

Not including Strikes in the “evolving world” was a major misstep

    Posted: 12 May 2020 06:44 PM PDT

It's crazy to me how Strike maintenance wasn't included in Bungie's plan for an evolving world. I look back at Destiny 1, and the constantly changing Strikes was one of the main things that kept the player notified that the world was evolving and changing.

From the Taken King, which introduced Taken variants of Strikes, to Rise of Iron, which introduced SIVA variants of Strikes, to any number of the QoL tweaks and refreshes in between: new dialogue, slightly altered encounters, and tweaked bosses were minimal changes that made every year of the Strike playlist fresh and unique. I remember coming back to Rise of Iron after a long break and being totally blown away by the Strike playlist: even Strikes I knew and had grinded for hours were fresh in some unique ways.

Strikes are some of the only "story" content that we are expected to grind/repeat beyond their initial presentation in an expansion, and their upkeep and evolution was essential in D1 feeling like an "evolving world." I know Strikes are very different in D2 from both a technical and story perspective, but I truly wish they were getting the same love as D1. Outside of The Ordeal content, we've had virtually no QoL Strike updates in D2. For comparison, by now in Y3 D1 Strikes had unique scoring, at least 3 variants, and the Skeleton Key system. It is a totally missed opportunity in my eyes.

Bungie Plz Addition: Give the Menagerie a Rotating Loot Pool.

    Hello Guardians,

This topic has been added to Bungie Plz.
Going forward, all posts suggesting this change will be removed and redirected to this Megathread.

    Submitted by: u/kingstonkhanPSc

    Date approved: 05/11/20

    Modmail Discussion:

u/kingstonkhanPSc: "Why it should be added: The Menagerie is one of the best activities that was added to Destiny 2 last year. Some of the weapons that can be obtained from the Menagerie are still well sought after, such as Austringer and Beloved. Giving players an avenue to obtain a rotating pool of previous loot, I believe, would improve player engagement within the menagerie activity. With the news of a full transmog system coming in Y4, a rotating armour set would be appreciated as well!"

    Examples given: 1, 2, 3

    Criteria Used:

"...3 examples (with links) of recent submissions (with at least 1 being over 5 days old), that have been well received (hundreds of upvotes on the front page of the sub - ex. 300+ upvotes)."

"The Lie" requires 3 Million *GUARDIANS* to participate in completed Seraph Towers. Not 3 Million individual completed tower events.

    Posted: 12 May 2020 11:00 AM PDT

Edit to clarify title: Not 3 million individual guardians. The same group of 3 guardians can do it 1 million times.

    Source: https://twitter.com/Bungie/status/1260264884832366593

Per their example, "So a Fireteam of 3 who successfully complete the event counts as "3" completions."

I mean, I don't know who on earth can complete a seraph tower event in a group of three (Gladd? Eso? Next challenge inbound?), but at least this is good to know that stacking up teams of 9 will count for 9 points per completion.

Found my old clan members from d1 vanilla after 4 and half years.

    Posted: 12 May 2020 06:43 PM PDT

I just wanted to give more of a positive post in light of a lackluster season, when i first started playing destiny me and my irl friend found a hard mode VOG group, they asked us to join their clan for the trophy and first try we actually speed ran it and all became really good friends, needless to say we stuck around and did day 1 crotas end and played the game every single day. During at some point in taken king we all kinda fell off as real life does happen, they moved to xbox and we just lost all contact. All the time we kept wondering how much more fun d2 would be with those homies again. WELL after 4 plus years, turns out they also were looking to find us again and reconnect on destiny, to the power of steam and remaking our old d1 clan on PC, our old clan is now back!

also GG ez guardian games, titans ftw.

If you plan on full sending Seraph Towers for a while....or doing flawless seraph....

    Posted: 12 May 2020 11:52 AM PDT

...please remember to bring a tractor cannon if no one else is running. It debuffs the beam and makes it so that way you don't have to throw as many balls per cycle. I use it all the time when I do seraph towers and it was a HUGE help in getting it done insanely fast.

Also if someone in Local chat asks for your fire team to do flawless seraph. Just kindly give it to them. It takes 30 seconds of your time. I been doing my best to help those out struggling to do 9 man fireteams in patrols. Have fun guys. 👍🏾

Edit: forgot to specify, you tractor cannon the ball at the end of the beam, not the actual beam.

Bungie, you can't possibly except us to do The Lie, with the current state of patrol zone matchmaking.

    Posted: 12 May 2020 12:38 PM PDT

I won't say too much about the quest and just ask you nicely to go pick it up from Ana.

Bungie, we always had a problem with patrol zone matchmaking, first during Escalation protocols back in Warmind. Then in the Blind Well in Forsaken, and now during this season with the Seraph Towers.

This quest would have made sense during the first phase were everybody was actively participating and the towers were doable with less people.

Now we're reaching the end of the season. People are starting to quit and get Burnout, the Event (although really fun) as gotten harder it requires at least 6 good players or more depending on the skill.

Yet here we are with a broken match making and Clans that have to brute force the match making in those zones to join as fire teams of 9. On top of that we are excepted to do 9M completions, 3M per planets.

I won't propose a solution as I have no ideas how all of this works. BUT I will ask a question.

Did you learn anything with all the complaints about patrol zone matchmaking and plan to do anything about it ?

Or will you at least address the issues?

The Lie: maximizing our efficiency and getting this shit done

    Posted: 12 May 2020 11:25 AM PDT

So for those who aren't aware, Ana Bray now has a quest for you titled The Lie. It has been datamined that this quest leads to the fabled Felwinter's Lie shotgun, back and better than ever. The first step requires us, as a community, to grab the quest and complete millions of Seraph Tower events on the Moon, Io, and the EDZ. We need to come up with a community strategy to get this done quick enough.

So the quest details that we need to complete events on all three planets, there are three bars to fill, not one. Presumably, a player participating in an event counts towards community progress, so for example if ten players complete one seraph tower event, it counts as ten for the community. As such, here is our plan:

First, anybody with Shadowkeep, head to the Moon. We need to cross this off of our list so we can then help out those who don't have Shadowkeep with the other planets. As a community, we all need to spend time completing these seraph towers on the Moon. A smart idea would also be to grab bounties for this and grind some XP out, although unrelated to the community effort.

Once the Moon is crossed off of our list, we head to Io. No reason over the EDZ, we just need to focus on one planet at a time so we get maximum mileage out of every event.

Finally, we head to the EDZ and complete everything there. Remember, again, that we need to focus on one planet at a time to get the maximum number of players involved per event and therefore maximum mileage out of each event.

The next thing we need to cover: builds. Use your very best PvE builds and gear. This means your Recluses, Izanagi's Burden, Mountaintop, Xenophage, Whisper of the Worm, etc. As far as builds go, remember there a lot of ads you can kill, and bosses will go down fairly quickly. Here are some build suggestions:

    Titan:

-Ward of Dawn with the Crest of Alpha Lupi will help everyone here a ton. Throw on some Hands On mods on an Arc Mark and get up in their faces to build super. Feel free to also use a One-Two Punch or Trench Barrel shotgun time complement Defensive Barrier's increased melee damage. You can build super faster with Doom Fang Pauldrons, but generate less orbs. Middle Tree is also good if you run Doom Fang Pauldrons.

-Thundercrash with a shitload of Hands On mods and Insurmountable Skullfort. One smash into a big group of ads will build a ton of super, almost a third if you time it right. Strength mods aren't really necessary here, spec into intellect. Thunder Coil would be a great mod to stack with this build to ensure those ads die.

-Phoenix Cradle with Code of the Siegebreaker is golden. This is probably the absolute best build to be running here. Run Thermite grenades with this and Ashes to Assets for even faster supers, and stand in those Sunspots. This will help you and your teammates immensely.

    Hunter:

-Way of the Trapper with Orpheus Rigs is still very strong. Despite their recent nerf, they are very good and easy to use. Grab a Dynamo mod and and Ashes to Assets mod, and spec into Intellect. Bad Juju is a good idea here as well. Way of the Pathfinder is also good here as a support class for a shitload of orbs for your team, just swap out the Dynamo mod for another Ashes to Assets mod.

-Way of the Warrior with Liar's Handshake always has and always will be one of the strongest builds in Destiny, especially for shredding bosses. Slap the Thunder Coil seasonal mod on there for maximum damage and a One-Two Punch shotgun to boot. Hands On mods and Intellect will help a lot here.

-Celestial Nighthawk with Bad Juju and Way of the Sharpshooter will delete bosses with fast supers.

-Way of a Thousand Cuts with Young Ahamkara's Spine and a Hands On mod and Ashes to Assets mod will do a lot for you in getting supers and keeping enemies off the plates. Also works with Shards of Galanor.

    Warlocks:

-Phoenix Protocol with Attunement of Grace will be amazing. Grab some Dynamo mods and spec into Intellect and Recovery and you'll be golden.

-Crown of Tempests with Attunement of Control or Attunement of Conduction will be phenomenal, especially if you slap on Lightning Strikes Twice and/or Tyrant's Surge. Throw on Ashes to Assets and Riskrunner if you have it and this will get you constant supers and grenades.

-Nezarec's Sin with any Voidwalker tree will perform well, get Ashes to Assets and spec into Discipline and Intellect, and get a good explosive void energy weapon, especially with Demolitionist if possible. Otherwise, Graviton Lance is superb here as well.

Those are some sample builds you can try out. They should all work very well in horde modes like this. Let's get this bread Guardians!

P.S. Bungie this was a really lame way to do a community quest. Try making it a bit more interesting than just complete x amount of Public Events next time around.

Edit: some users have pointed out that the first mission of Shadowkeep is available to all players and therefore so is the Moon. My mistake, but I'm too lazy to restructure the post.

Also, sort out the UI speed, loading times etc.

Destiny is already a beautiful game, now (especially on console) it needs the performance to match the beauty.
