    The Lie is finished!

    Posted: 17 May 2020 08:39 PM PDT

Thank you all guardians for your noble sacrifice, all of us appreciate the valiant work you've put in.

Edit: For those lazy like me, now is a great time to grind the Fourth Horseman/Tractor Cannon catalysts!

Edit again: After doing the shotgun kills the next quest keeps loading me into the Sanctuary as well. Not sure if bug, feature, or puzzle like the corridors.

Alright last edit: Quest is bugged, considered by dmg. Sad times friends...

My Opinion on "The Lie" Being Bugged

    Posted: 17 May 2020 11:11 PM PDT

As the person with the most clears since the quest went live,

    [ proof attached https://imgur.com/a/xWIaFzf ]

I first off want to thank Bungie and the Destiny community for this experience. Meeting so many different people during this grind has been wonderful, and Bungie's ability to create a game world so intriguing that I'm willing to sit through roughly 60 hours of the same public event just to progress a community quest is something to be proud of.

With that being said, having the quest bugged is devastating. It's obviously not the end of the world and waiting a few extra hours for it to be fixed isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things. However, seeing all of this time and effort halted because of something that's out of my control hurts. With the COVID outbreak causing devs to work from home, I expected this season and the next to have some issues. It seems that these issues are becoming more and more rampant. From the 4th Horseman quest having the wrong Lost Sector available to the constant beavers and disconnects to now this, it seems like the overall quality of the game is declining. And as someone who has fallen in love with this franchise, it crushes me to see.

Once the quest fixed, I'm going to be right back in the game to earn my reward but in the meantime, I'm gonna take a nap.

All this Bungie salt is fine, but taking a break from Destiny does wonders for your state of mind on the game.

    Posted: 17 May 2020 08:35 AM PDT

I'm a day one beta player and have purchased all expansions etc. I love me some Destiny! But sometimes you just gotta take a break! Hell take a break from shooters all together. I just pumped 170 hours into Persona 5 Royale, then Resident Evil 3 remake, and I'm on to FF7 remake now. (What a time for remakes and remasters)

My point is, I popped back on for just for a few days after a few months off and wow did it help. Suddenly I didn't mind doing the same strikes, some silly repetitive bounty. It was just the break I needed. Bungie isn't perfect and is deserving of constructive criticism, but they can't make everything perfect. And the more you play the same game, the more you start to see even the smallest cracks as glaring issues.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Edit: Obligatory Rip inbox\this blew up!

    Felwinter's Inheritance

    Posted: 17 May 2020 09:26 PM PDT

Not sure if it is bugged, or if this is a scavenger hunt?

After the 1000 kills you go to the moon bunker, talk to rasputin, and then you go to the bunker door to load a mission. It resets you back at Eris with no waypoint or objective.

EDIT: I abandoned the mission, went back to the bunker and accepted it again. once again trasmatted back to eris, no objective or waypoint. This is either a crazy scavenger hunt, a bug, or *shutters* a LIE

EDIT2: Restarted game - nothing. I did notice this time that when you get teleported back to eris after hitting the bunker door, it does pop up "New Mission: The Tyrant" on screen, but then again... no objective or waypoint.

EDIT 3: CONFIRMED BUGGED BY DMG https://twitter.com/A_dmg04/status/1262248725704925188?s=20

This subreddit does not represent the whole community

    Posted: 17 May 2020 03:02 PM PDT

Hi everyone, I've seen alot of posts on this subreddit over the years where people outline their dislike about changes in or aspects of Destiny, where they tend to say "the community doesn't want this" "the community doesn't trust Bungie". I'm not necessarily putting myself on any one side, I just want to remind those who frequent this subreddit that reddit is still a TINY portion of the community that plays Destiny. Yes, there are about 1.5 million members, but not all of them comment or upvote/downvote on posts, such as out of the fear of the "hivemind" that can seem to pop up on this sub at times; so much of the time, whether or not your thoughts on changes are negative or positive, the amount of votes or comments you get does NOT mean that a great amount of the community agrees with you, in reality it's only a small portion. According to warmind.io, a little under 1 million people have played today, and even if you get something like a few thousand upvotes on a post about how feel about certain changes, just realize that your opinion may not be shared by as many people as you think.

Some Warlock subclasses need buffs : Suggestions and Discussion

    Posted: 17 May 2020 02:14 PM PDT

As a Warlock main, I feel like half of the Attunements lack synergies, and some buffs here and there could fix that.

Before you ready the internet pitchforks, I am not saying that Warlocks should be buffed as a whole. Some skill trees already have great synergies and are in a really good spot:

    • Top Tree Solar: Great neutral game based on aerial combat, and for the first time in D2 Warlocks can actually make fun melee builds without Monte Carlo. PvP powerhouse with a high skill gap.
    • Middle Tree Solar: Great support trees where you can heal and buff teammates and various ways and doing so reduces your cooldowns. Also comes with an array of good exotics like Phoenix Protocol, Lunafaction Boots or Starfire Protocol.
    • Middle Tree Arc: Good neutral game, and the Super works for boss damage and add clear. Also does not blind you anymore, which is nice.
    • Bottom Tree Void: Great neutral game with Devour, and the Super is now in a good place thanks to the buffs in 2.8.0.

Here are the skill trees in my opinion need some lovin':

Top Tree Void – Attunement of Chaos

This skill tree is about throwing powerful grenades and create explosions. However, it is pretty lackluster in lots of ways:

    • The Entropic Pull melee is the only way to get your grenade back faster without exotics. For a subclass centered on grenades, the synergy is lacking. Titans in comparison have better grenade related perks like Superior Arsenal (25% Grenade energy on grenade kills) on Bottom Tree Void or Magnitude (Gain an additional grenade charge. Increased the duration of grenade effects) on Top Tree Arc.
    • Bloom is basically a worse version of Controlled Demolition (Detonators on Titan's Middle Tree Void)
    • Overcharging grenades is cool, but I want to use other grenades than Vortex grenades. Axion Bolt is kinda crap and Scatter Grenades could be great if they didn't bounce half the time.

Now this is kind of a personal gripe but I really do not like the Slowva Bomb. Damage wise it's totally fine but it is the way it works (and various bugs) that annoys me:

    • The tracking messes up a lot. Sometimes the Nova will slam into a wall just because it detected an enemy behind it.
    • It blocks your teammates shots. You have no idea how many Celestial GG shots I blocked (sometimes on purpose).
    • It can be destroyed (quite easily I might add) by enemies. Imagine if your Blade Barrage or Golden Gun shots could be destroyed in mid-air. This just sucks.
    • The seekers are bugged and explode with the Nova. When they do work, they usually are too slow to reach moving targets, or the enemies already died from the initial Nova Bomb.

So what can be done to improve this skill tree ?

    • Add a way to gain grenade energy other than the melee. For example, you could get grenade energy from hits with the Nova seekers or add Embrace the Void (Grenade and Super kills trigger Energy Drain) from D1. You could also add a way to gain melee energy instead, so you could use Entropic Pull more often.
    • Improve Bloom by increasing either the radius or the explosion damage, or removing the explosion delay (Or all three, I'm not picky :D)
    • Fix the Scatter Grenades and improve the Axion Bolt grenades.
    • Fix the Slowva seekers, or straight up replace it with Lance or Shatter from D1.

Middle Tree Void – Attunement of Fission

Tweaked several times since Forsaken, Attunement of Fission went from Overpowered PvP Super to Overpowered Handheld Supernova to the sad state it is now. Don't get me wrong, the combo HhSN + Contraverse Hold needed to be tuned down. But the 2.8.0 nerf was overkill. Contraverse Hold had its damage resistance cut in half (understandable), but HhSN got nerfed IN 6 DIFFERENT WAYS.

The range and the spread I can understand. The reduced hold time and bolt explosion radius, sure. But increasing the activation time makes it so painful to use. And the self-damage was such a bad idea. It's a short-range ability, why is it able to kill me when I use it the way it was intended?

So please Bungie, just revert the changes made to activation time and self-damage on HhSN. The rest of Attunement of Fission is fine, but HhSN is a key part of the skill tree and it needs to be worth using, both in PvE and PvP.

Bottom Tree Solar – Attunement of Flame

And the prize for the poorest neutral game goes to…Attunement of Flame! With one of the weakest melee abilities and Phoenix Dive, which is just here to look cool. The super is the only redeeming thing on this skill tree, but that alone makes it not worth playing compared to other Attunements, except maybe in Mayhem. For something called Attunement of Flame, it pales in the "Flame" department against Top Tree Dawnblade, Middle Tree Gunslinger or Bottom Tree Sunbreaker.

Here are my suggestions to improve Attunement of Flame:

    • Increase the burn damage of the melee, and make it so enemies explode when dying to burn damage (Currently an enemy explodes only if it dies from the melee itself, not the burn)
    • Bring back Touch of Flame from D1 (All solar abilities burn targets)
    • To keep 4 perks in the skill tree, Merge Everlasting Fire with Fated for the Flame (If that is too overpowered, just keep Fated for the Flame)
    • Improve Phoenix Dive. Make it so it gives you a cooldown bonus when using it when critically wounded. In Super, increase its damage (maybe something like the higher you are, the more damage you deal) and/or the blast radius. Currently, a Phoenix Dive super attack deals less damage than Dawnblade regular attacks, and is more difficult to use, crazy huh?
    • Bonus: Make Promethium Spurs work with Phoenix Dive instead of being another shelved Rift exotic.
    • PLEASE PLEASE revert the Burst Glide nerf on Bottom Tree Dawnblade :(

Top Tree Arc – Attunement of Conduction

The gimmick of this skill tree is in the title. Your grenades chain lightning, your melee is called Chain Lightning, and your Super also happens to chain lightning. Chaining lightning successfully gives you grenade energy so you can chain a lot of lightning. It's actually a pretty cool skill tree.

The problem? A perk called Transcendence, which gives you extra time on your super and heals you, but only if you cast it with full grenade and melee energy. On top of being bugged (the heal is actually just visual lol), it ruins the gameplay where you're supposed to use your abilities a lot.

Just like u/Faust_8 said in his recent post "The Transcendence perk only made sense in D1 when you could just choose not to have it. Not when it comes in a bundle like an asshole cable company that makes you buy a landline just because you want WiFi internet."

Possible fixes would be to replace it with one of these D1 Stormcaller perks:

    • Perpetual Charge: Kills with your grenade refill melee energy. Kills with your melee refills grenade energy.
    • Feedback: Incoming melee attacks recharge and intensify your melee ability (Would make nice combos with Winter's Guile or Claws of Ahamkara)

Bottom Tree Arc – Attunement of the Elements

This skill tree has actually a good melee (Rising Storm) and a good Super perk (Landfall), but is lacking because of its emphasis on Rifts.

Yes, your Rifts last longer and can create cute Arc Buddies but let's be honest, they are far from game changing (The exception being the one you get from Getaway Artist). You can't even kill a red bar dog in the Tribute Hall with one Arc Soul burst.

On top of that, Warlocks "Rift" exotics are not in a good shape. What was the last time when you saw someone using The Stag, Vesper of Radius or Sanguine Alchemy? If you play Stormcaller, you are going to use Crown of Tempest anyway, and Lunafaction Boots are best used with Attunement of Grace.

    My suggestions:

    • Add a buff on the Warlock that stacks based on the number of allies (including yourself) with an Arc Soul. It can be a cooldown buff, or a Mobility/Resilience/Recovery buff like Heart of the Pack from Bottom Tree Nightstalker
    • Make those "Rift" exotics worth using.

    Closing Note

If you agree or disagree with those suggestions, feel free to comment or even post your own :)

EDIT 1: Also, here's a post about numerous Warlock bugs. Some of them have been fixed, a lot still remains...

"The Lie" - Shotgun Telemetry: 1000 shotgun kills across the system or in Crucible.

    Posted: 17 May 2020 08:47 PM PDT

    https://i.imgur.com/Bf2fJlv.png

1 Kill in Crucible = 6 points for Gryffindor

To reiterate: 1000 kills required - 1 kill in Crucible counts as 6 kills for the quest, NOT 6 percent. So one Crucible kill would be counted as 6/1000, not 6%. 6% would be 60 kills.

Bungie, this is a pretty insignificant request, but I would love if you added back the original tower music. It disappeared after forsaken, and I understood why, but I would love to see it added back.

Showerthought: Bungie are at their best when they throw caution and balance out the window and just let everyone have fun. Then they have to reign it in for balance or to prevent creep, and it's them at their worst because they often do it in the worst possible monkey's pawish way.

    Posted: 17 May 2020 01:18 AM PDT

Think about it. Some of the best moments in Destiny history come from those times where Bungie just went wild and let themselves and players have some fun.

When Promethus Lens was overpowered in Curse, what did they do? Put it on Xur for the weekend. Crucible became a insane game of lazer tag.

Taken King and Forsaken focused on givng the player more power, more class option choices, just beefing them up. I think it's part of many reasons why they are they most liked times in Destiny.

The missions and modes where Destiny team get creative are fun as hell. SRL? A hot mess to be sure, but a different, fun hot mess. The secret missions with overpowered rewards? All fun, though you might need a friend. Some of the most fun I ever had in Crucible was in Mayhem with supers being thrown left and right.

Now the issue with that is, in a game with competitve PvP and with races to be the first in a raid... you need to activly balance shit to not be broken for too long. And Bungie in full fun police mode often takes things too far, and utterly ruins a gun in all modes, or whole lines of equipment, or makes entire progression methods useless, or changes skill trees to avoid possible broken combos. In the persuit of fixing the fun broken thing, They manage to smash the fun thing in such a way that it makes it UNFUN.

And they been doing that for the past 7 years. At this point, it's tiring.

I wish there was an action that had Ghost read lore to us as we played the game

    Posted: 17 May 2020 04:55 AM PDT

There's so much lore. I've read near all of it. But it would be great if the lore could be read to us as we played through strikes or missions.

I know it would be expensive if we had Nolan North do it. Maybe get some lore buffs of the community to do it instead, as if read from another Ghost like with Eris' lore book.

Would be a great effective way to experience the other stories in Destiny

not gonna lie menagerie is kind of fun right now and a breath of fresh air

    Posted: 17 May 2020 03:53 PM PDT

Sure if you're really going for a very specific set of rolls it can be a bit frustrating (and when it first came out it was a chore to do with blueberries sometimes) but for the most part it reminds me of what this game should strive to do. Instead of the event being a total fail it just took longer. To me that was a good compromise for an event that's not a raid and can have 6 total strangers playing together who aren't on mic.

    Posted: 17 May 2020 11:40 AM PDT

We never see any sort of shower or bathing apparatus on the tower and one wouldn't fit on our ships. Do Guardians just have a certain "smell" or when they get too dirty do they just have Ghost make them a new body minus the sweat and dirt? Just a shower thought...

I made an infographic outlining current legendary weapon archetypes that will be viable in Season 12 end-game content

    Posted: 17 May 2020 07:19 PM PDT

EDIT: fixed a mistake where Sacred Provenance was misplaced, latest version is here.

I made this reference guide to help visually outline where there may be gaps in the archetypes available to us later this year. A few key notes:

    • I tried to present a bunch of information at once so it's a busy guide, but the most important information in my mind is which archetypes are represented here, which weapons are currently obtainable, and from where they're sourced.
    • Don't be overly concerned by all the empty spaces - we're going to get two more seasons' worth of weapons, which should double the items listed here. From Season of the Forge onward, Bungie has released an average of 24 legendary weapons per season, including re-releases of Y1 weapons. Shadowkeep added 30 on its own, Dawn added 23, and Worthy added 22. I fully expect another 40 - 50 additional weapons over the next two seasons.
    • Think of this as a guide for what you may want to farm right now in order to stock up on weapons that may be the only viable ones for their archetype / energy type. It may help you decide that one Seventh Seraph weapon wasn't worth farming because at the moment it's the only weapon of its kind that will be viable (that we know about).

    Some observations from the data:

    • There's a total of 60 legendary weapons released in seasons 9 and 10 that will be viable in Season 12 end-game. 15 of those come from the Last Wish and Garden of Salvation raids. Another 13 are seasonal weapons from Dawn like the Sundial / Obelisk weapons, and can't be re-acquired at the moment.
    • Although the sword meta is having a moment right now, there's only one sword we have that will be viable in Season 12 - Honor's Edge. Maybe check your drops to make sure you grab a decent one. It shouldn't go away at the end of this season though.
    • We're really short on viable void weapons. Of the 60 total, only 7 are void. Of those 7, 3 come from raids, 1 from Trials, 1 was a Dawn seasonal weapon, and 1 was Python which I'm not sure is obtainable right now if you didn't pick up the quest in season 9 (I'd love someone's confirmation on that). The last void weapon remaining is the Seventh Seraph SI-2 sidearm, which is the only "easily" obtained void primary weapon right now.
    • Only one machine gun on the list: Seventh Seraph SAW.
    • Only one heavy grenade launcher on the list: Interference VI.

Again, we should expect this list to round out pretty well as the next two seasons add to it, but this can help give an idea on where some gaps and thin spots are so you can possibly focus your efforts getting good rolls there for the future.

Let me know your thoughts on this - I'm a noob at design and just built this in powerpoint which isn't great. Happy to hear better ways of presenting this. I may look to refresh this again when the next season comes around.

    Enjoy!

Bungie, you’ve hinted at the darkness enemies for years now,so could you not show them off in the trailers and give the community a blind first encounter?

    Posted: 17 May 2020 01:52 PM PDT

Bungie has this habit of showing off everything new in the trailers for expansion. From caydes death to basically every boss in shadowkeep. I would rather a trailer that just shows the locations, crucible maps and stuff like that.

Raids Are At Their Best When We Know The Enemy

    Posted: 17 May 2020 07:28 PM PDT

Throughout D1, in my opinion Kings Fall was the best because everything was building up to this fight with Oryx, although worse, WOTM was similar as we were finally taking out the leader behind this siva outbreak.

This followed through somewhat into Last Wish, but for less dedicated players it was harder to understand what she was when compared to the obvious threat of Oryx. I would say that is the charm of the Last Wish.

But with something like Leviathan, Eater Of Worlds, and Spire of Stars, we had no idea who tf these dudes were when we went in to fight them. Of course we love daddy Calus now but going in you had no idea who he was or why you were killing him unless you read the collectors edition booklet.

Going into Shadowkeep we get a raid in the Black Garden, the confusing part for me was, why tf do I care about killing this random Vex Mind. It just seemed like another big baddie minotaur with a cool design. There was no weight behind it when you saw him come down from the sky. Not like Oryx when he arose from beneath you. It just doesn't feel the same when you have no idea what you are fighting, it just feels like killing big bad boi for the sake of killing big bad boi.

Of course, after the raid has come out then we get some lore and get a nice Byf video, but looking back I still don't get why we wanted to kill this Vex guy besides the fact that we have a little vision inside the Black Garden. I don't feel like I have accomplished anything huge, like stopped a war, or ended an outbreak, or killed the most famous guardian slayer.

Just some thoughts that hopefully Bungie takes into the future with raid design.

tl;dr Bungie needs to make big bad guys/girls that we know of, or have been fighting towards. Bc most of the d2 raids we don't know who we're fighting.

    Merciless Buff pls bugno

    Posted: 17 May 2020 11:03 PM PDT

So now that everyone is pissed over the whole bugged "The Lie" quest, lets move to a lighter note.

    Merciless, the forgotten boss melter.

Merciless has the perfect perk setup to be one of the king boss melting weapons in the game and I for one, think that this beauty of a fusion rifle needs a PvE buff to make it if not a god tier melting weapon, more viable than it is right now.
