    Focused Feedback: Core Playlists

    Posted: 18 May 2020 06:56 AM PDT

    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Core Playlists' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

I know this sounds weird but last night during “The Lie” quest extravaganza, I had more fun searching the moon for a secret that wasn’t there than I did actually doing seraph towers. Not suggesting they should replace events with empty scavenger hunts but I just find it funny.

    Posted: 18 May 2020 06:22 PM PDT

Last night when the last step wasn't working for people, for some reason my inner scavenger hunt self went into go mode searching the entire moon for something to progress the quest when in reality there was no secret. Despite the disappointment seeing DMG on twitter confirm it was broken, I realized something. After a day contemplating I realized I had more enjoyment searching for nothing then actually doing the seraph tower step and think a bunch of other people felt that too. That's what brings the community together is theories and secrets whether they are true or not. That short hour of the community searching for nothing reminded me the magic of this game and why I love it so much: The community coming together.

Sure the Seraph Towers brought the community together to get to a percentage goal but nothing will ever come close to how mystery in the game brings people together. This is something that I think needs to be considered when making future content like this from now on. I'm not saying that Bungie needs to lie and make fake scavenger hunts for us to chase after but there needs to be a sense of mystery behind some of these quests instead of a tedious, arbitrary, generic (Do this long tedious step and then go here and get gun) goal system. Now we haven't seen the end of this Felwinter shotgun quest so I don't know if Felwinter is gonna come out of the dark and whip out his long dong or something and surprise me or if it's gonna be a generic mission. Regardless, secrets make this game fun and I think Bungie knows that deep down. If Bungie wants "You had to be there" moments, sprinkles of this kind of stuff except with a reward whether it's lore or the actual gun like the Felwinter's Lie, are a good place to start."

What if Strikes had more than one outcome?

    Posted: 18 May 2020 02:54 PM PDT

I had just gone through Arms Dealer and had the Fallen invasion variant of the strike. That got me thinking... What if these Fallen were actually successful? What if the Taken at the Pyramidion made their way to Brakion and took the Genesis Mind? What if we managed to find one of those timelines where the Red Legion fails against the Vex in Tree of Probabilities?

Whether it was a simple coin flip, a trigger that players needed to activate, or if it was directly tied to strike zone variants like we have now, I think it would be a really cool way of spicing strikes up. Imagine opening up that last door in Arms Dealer and instead of Bracus Zahn standing on the suspended tank, you see a Captain slice him and run towards the lift. Or at the end of Tree of Probabilities, the Minotaur turns around and catches the Cabal guy (can't remember his name) and tosses him.

Of course this doesn't work for every single strike, and in some cases there are probably conflicts with pieces of lore buried deep within whatever books. Since we only really get 1-2 strikes every year nowadays, producing a new boss for an existing strike could serve as a decent filler.

Edit: Since a lot of people are making this point, yes, just like it was in Destiny 1 with the Nexus Mind, Sepiks, Taniks, etc. I forgot that they did this because it's been years. Either that or a new take on that idea with the use of certain triggers (a step up from the Mithrax ending).

I can’t believe this has to be said but do not harass the game devs

    Posted: 18 May 2020 07:32 PM PDT

I know it's only a very small amount of the player base that's doing this, but still, the fact that people apart of this community are doing it is just completely messed up. I get that you're mad about the quest being bugged, and I am too, but still that doesn't give you the right to treat the people who made this game with those levels of disrespect.

Can we have all nerfs that were because of auto reloading reverted since we don't have it anymore?

    Posted: 18 May 2020 06:10 PM PDT

I feel like a lot of guns like rockets, lmgs, and shotguns that were nerfed because of auto reloading should be unerfed as auto reloading is what made it op in the first place. Most of these guns feel like wet napkins in end game content and could spice up the meta if they were unerfed. plz

Season of the Worthy IS the worst season of D2, not because the lack of content or the content itself, but because of all the bad decisions and bugs that came with it.

    Posted: 18 May 2020 05:39 AM PDT

Looking back now, the content being boring is just the tip of the iceberg for this season.

The inumerous bad decisions made by Bungie is discouraging for long time players like me.

Feedback about public events don't having matchmaking since Court of Oryx? Ignored.

Don't you like to do endless bounties? Here is an event about bounties. (I know it has been adressed in a past TWAB, but it's not like we've been saying this for a long time...)

Remember about the public event feedback? Here, do 9 million of them. And in a harder version of it. BUT we will nerf the champions, because of course they were a problem.

OH! After that, the quest that it unlocks is bugged. C ya!

Also disconnect in the tower, disconnect in trials, disconnect when you open the fridge, disconnect, disconnect, disconnect...

DEAR GOD! I know it's getting old to and I do not represent the majority that plays this game, but damn this season is so bad about things that could be related to any other season, because is all about bad decisions and bugs, not about the content itself.

Luke is right, we are not prepared for what's coming in September, because we were really not prepared for this season too..

Edit: Artifact power was meant to be enable in trials if it wasn't for our outrage. Another bad decision that we can count here.

Sorry about the rant and possible bad english.

Edit: Wow, guys, really, thanks for all the awards. I wrote this just to "fell better" in a moment of rage.

Hot take: Gambit is a lot better of a mode than we give it credit.

    Posted: 18 May 2020 07:44 AM PDT

After getting all of the gambit pinnacles and getting dredgen I've realized I really enjoy the mode. Gambit can be really frustrating at first but after playing so much of it the flow of the game makes sense. There's so much potential for loadout variety and strategy in gambit that is overlooked because most of the weapons you see invaders using are heavies. Finding out what the best hybrid pvp pve build is has been really fun. Not to mention gambit and season of the drifter was one of the best expansions lore wise in recent memory.

Bungie, when you add new content, PLEASE don't make the bosses bigger versions of smaller enemies.

    Posted: 18 May 2020 06:59 PM PDT

Now there is a few exceptions, mostly all raid bosses, and some dungeon bosses. Like, the fanatic? bigger version of a scorn enemy. bracus zahn? bigger version of a legionary with some small adjustments. (you get were i'm going) I want to see something like Ghaul, or oryx, that looks like its gonna whoop my ass big time. Thats creative, thats fun. I don't want to see a bigger version of a hive knight or wizard with more HP. So if you do add in some kind of new race, or any content really, dont make it a bigger version of a smaller enemy.

Side note: I am in no way trying to trash talk Bungie, I know the content is a little dry right now, but if you have played a while, you know every spring is like this. But I love this game and I always will. Stay safe.

edit: Oryx is another AMAZING character, absolutey great lore, story, and looks/art.

Bungie Plz Addition: Increase Vault Space (Again)

    Posted: 18 May 2020 09:41 AM PDT

    Hello Guardians,

This topic has been added to Bungie Plz.
Going forward, all posts suggesting this change will be removed and redirected to this Megathread.

    Submitted by: u/Thy_Maker

    Date approved: 05/16/20

    Modmail Discussion:

u/Thy_Maker: "Why it should be added: With the amount of items in the game and the different rolls you can get on weapons and armor, it kind of becomes mandatory to hold onto something that has or might have potential. Having three characters adds to the problem as it basically triples your loot and what you want to hold on to. With more and more things being added to the game every three months-ish, vault space becomes a larger issue more and more, one that needs to be addressed.."

    Examples given: 1, 2, 3

    Criteria Used:

"...3 examples (with links) of recent submissions (with at least 1 being over 5 days old), that have been well received (hundreds of upvotes on the front page of the sub - ex. 300+ upvotes)."

I know people in this sub love to bitch about reskinned content, but I would absolutely love a full Plaguelands-esque version of the Cosmodrome (plus Felwinter’s Peak)

    Posted: 18 May 2020 03:11 PM PDT

Seeing that Bungie already remade a little area of the snowy Cosmodrome for the Thunderlord quest and also seeing how much of the Vostok map is a perfect copy of the D1 area, I would absolutely pay something like 15€ just to see all of the Cosmodrome reprised in its snowy form (including the areas that were excluded from the Cosmodrome redo in Rise of Iron)

Can we add Ascendant Shards and Enhancement Prism drops to Valor reset?

    Posted: 18 May 2020 07:35 AM PDT

I'm a PvP player and all I want to do is play PvP. If I'm grinding through an entire 2000 valor, is that not worth a chance at masterworking materials? I suspect too that if you add rewards to PvP, more casuals would actually play PvP. It's win-win for everyone.

You can climb Felwinter's Peak in D2 now!

    Posted: 18 May 2020 06:19 AM PDT

On the Vostok step of The Lie quest, you can simply jump over the bridge to Felwinter's Peak and climb it.

If you've already completed this step, just load in on one of your other characters and get the quest from Ana.

Thanks to u/Chocolat3fish for figuring this out (his post)

Who cares if the quest is bugged, you can climb the mountain!

EDIT: FWIW here is the route I used, https://streamable.com/heidgr

EDIT: Created a timelapse from the top of the peak.

We get it. You’re a nice person. Now can we actually try to help the devs?

    Posted: 19 May 2020 12:41 AM PDT

Since yesterday I have seen 1000 tweets and posts about how every one should be nice to the devs. But I have yet to see a single negative post directed at a Bungie employe besides that DM from a troll dmg04 posted a screenshot of last week on Twitter. Am I blind, or are every one just jumping on the "be nice to Bungie" train to be a part of this trending topic?

The thing is, most of the members of this community are capable of giving constructive criticism. People doing otherwise are trolls that really don't deserve this much attention.

If it's one thing Bungie really need right now it's constructive feedback on how the choices they as a company have made lately has impacted the player experience. That is what we as a community and Bungie should be talking about right now. If we really want to help the devs and support them, this is the way to do so.

Frankly I think this year, and especially this season, has made it quite evident that Bungie lacks the resources to continue with four seasons per year on top of an expansion. The continued insistence on it for next year does not bode well in my opinion.

    Posted: 18 May 2020 12:17 AM PDT

Frankly, this year of Destiny's independence has been underwhelming. Filled with lackluster content, hypermonetization, FOMO out the ass, with the most unstable this game has ever been. This year alone has seen an incredible amount of exotics disabled, many of them multiple times for the same issue. Server stability and connection issues have been rampant, especially this season. Our most recent "community event" and time-locked quest is bugged for many people, being unable to progress on something that'll be gone in a few weeks; which is usually outside of Bungie's typical bug-fixing time frame.

Given the events thus far of this content year, I think it is completely fair to say that this content structure isn't working out for the players. The content is shallow and easily grown bored of, the story is loose at best, player engagement is at a significant low, trials was half baked, and so much more. It was very clear to me that the Game needs more time between our content releases to make them more compelling and less buggy at the very least. Four seasons a year has proven itself to be too much with Bungie's current manpower devoted to Destiny, a problem that will likely only get worse as more people are moved onto their new IP.

Bungie, I cannot stress this enough: you have GOT to get The Darkness right when it arrives. It's the biggest card in your hand right now and you cannot afford to fuck it up. And if you land it, you got to keep it running.

    Posted: 18 May 2020 12:58 AM PDT

We have been building up to this, this ultimate threat, the great and most terrifying evil for 6 years now. We heard rumors of The Darkness since the very beginning of Destiny, when we fought a evil in the heart of the Black Garden. Oryx, the big bad of the Taken King and one of Destiny's biggest presences in the lore, worshipped it. The Vex, machines dedicated to bending the inner workings of reality to their will, could not understand it and came to the conclusion of worship. Merely interacting with a EMPTY PYRAMID SHIP on the moon caused us and our allies to see ghosts.

Perhaps more importantly... a lot of people both on this sub and out of it are pretty tired of the same old ground of "one step forwards, two steps back" that seems to have plagued Destiny since inception. Due to that, Destiny has almost died twice in that time and is generaly considered to be in a bad state right now, though the reasons differ based on who you asked.

Bungie, I can't speak for everyone, but you NEED to get The Darkness right and if you DO you need to carry on on that momentum. This franchise can't survive a third near death, and The Darkness is the best card in your hand right now.

Also better load times on consoles please ok thanks

I don't think a game developer wants the reaction to finishing a community event to be "Thank god I never have to do that again"

    Posted: 18 May 2020 09:00 PM PDT

Community events should certainly involve grind and if you spend hours upon hours almost anything will feel like a weight off your shoulders once it's done but I don't think I've enjoyed the Seraph Towers outside of the first couple of hours of the season.

No Land Beyond and Universal Remote should return from D1, but in a similar style to Fighting Lion, as a Primary Sniper and Shotgun.

    Posted: 18 May 2020 05:53 PM PDT

There are a little over 20 Exotics from D1 that aren't currently in D2. Two of them are No Land Beyond and Universal Remote, two extremely unique weapons because they were the first Primary slot special weapons we ever got. In D1 they took white Primary ammo, but functioned just like Specials. I know a lot of people are begging for No Land Beyond to return and I think Bungie could bring both of the original Kinetic Special weapons back but with the same twist as Fighting Lion. Fighting Lion acts as a Primary weapon and in Vanilla D2 it was the only grenade launcher that wasn't in the Power slot making it balanced around the Primary weapon meta we had. Even today it's still classified and balanced as a Primary weapon. I think No Land Beyond and Universal Remote should receive the same treatment. They should both still take Primary ammo and function according to that balance.

Looking at NLB first I think it should stick more towards the Sniper Rifle aspect of balance. It should still one-tap to the head in PvP, but to counter having the same starting ammo of a Primary weapon the stats should be adjusted accordingly. The sights should be clunky and obtrusive, just as they were in D1. The ironsights should have a very high zoom and a low handling value. Decent players can slay out with a Quickdraw Snapshot Beloved, but truly great players can work even the highest of zoom and low handling rifles with sheer skill, map knowledge, and prediction. I think this would make it much more balanced while still retaining that Primary weapon feel.

With regards to Universal Remote, I think it should be reworked slightly to function more as any other Primary weapon rather than a more powerful special weapon like it used to be. As an initial baseline it should take two decent blasts to the body to kill a Guardian, but the RoF should be enough to secure a .75-.8s TTK. Universal Remote already had impressive range, but to set it above other shotguns I think it should have a range of about 21-23m with a fairly tight spread. This would allow it to compete against Special shotgun rushing since you have an extra 10m of advantage over them but you need more precise aim and timing to get the kill. UR should also be able to kill with a single headshot at any range within <3-4m.

I think this would be a good way to re-implement these weapons into the game so that they retain their nostalgia factor with No Land Beyond, but also not just becoming another shotgun that blends into the sea like Universal Remote did.

Why do we support Rasputin when he ordered SIVA to attack the Iron Lords aka Guardians?

    Posted: 18 May 2020 12:44 PM PDT

I just did the Vostok part of The Lie quest. It said Rasputin led the Iron Lords to their doom and used SIVA as bait. They didn't attack SIVA on their own. I am a New Light player, but what the hell? Can someone explain this to me?

I had also watched a lore video from Byf a while back where he was reading something from Rasputin and that was kinda troubling too, where Rasputin said about standing alone or something.

Idk why but I am getting the feeling that with the start of next season Rasputin will betray us and that whole season will be spent with us fighting him (and the Darkness too, but I got no clue how that plays out, still trying to find more lore on it)......

...or it could all just be ramblings of a new guy who knows nothing about the lore lol, but I would still like to get some input from the community about this.
