Participation in Trials this weekend is now on par with the lowest 2 weeks in D1 Trials (data included)

    Posted: 19 May 2020 12:25 PM PDT

I've been observing Trials population since it came back and I find it interesting to see the trends. I was personally anticipating seeing the population drop gradually just like D1 Trials and Trials of the Nine since that's just the fundamental nature of tournament style game modes.

    This weekend we had :

    146.524 people play 587.250 matches

Compared to the lowest 2 weeks recorded in D1 :

146.435 people playing 478.353 matches, and

    145.035 people playing 510.685 matches

So far the peak for D2 has been :

358.889 people playing 2.388.926 matches, and

    347.301 people playing 2.756.459 matches

Compared to D1, where the peak was :

    1.076.815 people playing 3.798.550 matches

A couple of interesting questions I had for myself is "did participation of D2 trials become initially lower because of previous Trials burnouts (tournament style mode burnout)" and "did making it easier to reach flawless in D2 Trials have a positive effect on player retention". I'll keep asking myself that and leave out personal opinions.

Can't specifically say what the Hotfix is for, without the AutoMod flagging it. It rhymes with the words "Shmelfinter's Pie".

EDIT: The mods approved this post, but I'm gonna keep the body the same. I like it.

Since Shadowkeep, the "power fantasy" has slowly been taken away from us.

    Posted: 19 May 2020 10:07 AM PDT

I absolutely hate the changes made to hand cannons and precision damage. But besides that, we're back in an auto rifle crucible meta, DPS is harder, and enemies feel more like bullet sponges, especially with the champion mods being only applicable to the SMG's, sidearms, and hand cannons, many of which were recently nerfed. I want to be able to go back into endgame activities with hand cannons that do actual damage and special weapons and exotics that don't hurt to take in since they can't equip champion mods.

Bungie is almost returning to the dual-primary D2 approach that we all hated, and while it's not nearly as bad yet, I fear that unless changes are made the game will continue to get staler and staler as mediocre weapons and exotics are added and our favorite gear is nerfed. This summer or fall, I want to see a buff to player power, like what happened in Forsaken but to a lesser extent. I just feel like the game is slowly getting increasingly boring and I miss year 2.

Edit: Many if you are saying DPS is still not hard and that before nerfs it was mindless. Okay that's fair. But I'd still like to see a buff to hand cannons and more ways to kill champions.

Dragonfly needs a buff in PvE.

    Posted: 19 May 2020 11:35 AM PDT

tl;dr Dragonfly is outclassed by other perks and is unreliable, as such it's damage should scale with enemy hp and trigger on body shot kills, but with reduced damage.

    1. The problem with dragonfly

The damage of dragonfly is bad everywhere except low-level content, the perks itself is extremely unreliable, as it requires a precision kill to proc, which isn't always possible due to certain enemies having no or very hard to hit precision spots, and even if you manage to get a precision kill it's either delayed or doesn't proc at all and the damage is pretty bad, failing to one-shot a dreg in a nightfall.

    1. How to make it good

Firstly, dragonfly should always proc on a precision kill and be instant, instead of being delayed, secondly make it proc on body shot kills but with half the damage, and thirdly make it scale with the hp of the enemy you've killed, so for example, if I kill a goblin with a precision hit, the explosion should do as much damage as the total hp of the goblin, and if it's a body shot kill it should half as much and have a lower radius.

These changes in my opinion would make dragonfly more effective and reliable, while keeping the risk vs reward nature of the perk.

    Posted: 19 May 2020 04:53 PM PDT

Just managed to complete both the strikes, (after the insane wait of ps copying smh) and wow. I know there's a lot of hate in the game right now, but if you want to feel like you've achieved something, try gms, especially now they're all up this week.

Ik the rewards are bad, but the rewards for me is the achievement I've just felt. I'm not a great player but Damn completing tree of probabilities just then felt so amazing.

Bungie managed to fail every somehow exciting thing during this season

    Posted: 19 May 2020 02:41 AM PDT

    And it hurts.

    Trials? Fiasco.

Bunkers and Seraph Towers? Bounty simulator and public event with bugged rewards and battle pass perks?

New exotic armor? Constantly disabled for being bugged.

    New ritual weapons? Oooops.

Overall performance? What did you say — "beaver"?

4th Horseman? On top of lazy desigh (do a bunch of public events here and there) quest was bugged (wrong legendary lost sector), and a gun itself is still bugged (majors and bosses are healing after receiving too much damage in a short period of time).

Guardian Games? Thing that we had no idea what it will be (because its new) — maybe a new EAZ, maybe 3x3x3 pvp game mode, maybe sparrow racing — who knows? Turns out to be a lazy bounty simulator on top of existing bounty simulator.

"The Lie" quest? Do 9 millions public events, farm 1000 shotgun kills (wow, so exciting!) to find out that the quest is bugged.

I remember, one of the community managers in the beginning of the season said something like "we expecting to receive a more positive feedback close to the end of the season". I thought then: maybe we will get new secret mission, like "whisper"? Maybe a cool story missions? You know, about placing the bombs on the Allmighty, or SIVA, maybe we will see the Felwinter himself? But no — do your public events and farm a lot of kills.

The worst thing is that we know, that Bungie can do better. But, for some reason, they don't want to, or can't. I love this game, but after this season i won't buy the next season or next expansion until we'll see, how deep and cool new content actually is.

BIG BRAIN EDIT: Okay, i did not expect so much attention. Look, everyone here knows that this season is not that good. It's not that good so much, that every possible content drop had problems. And this is so sad. Actually, there are two types of problems:

1.) Poor, lazy desigh choices. For example: GG, completely new exciting event, being bounty simulator; Trials being free-to-play; Trials having no Adept weapons; PVE-endgame having no exclusive rewards; exotic quest being absolutely boring; and another public event without proper matchmaking as main season activity.

IMPORTANT NOTE: this type of mistakes, problems of whatever you want to call them — we should complain about them constantly (oooofc without personal bashing), if we want bright, interesting and unique future for Destiny; if we don't want it to become a Korean MMO with simple "go kill 12 goblins" mentality.

If Bungie is still using their old development model (the one Luke told us about last summer in his famous love-letters), then the corona crisis has nothing to do with this kind of mistakes: this season's content was developed far before it's release and before the outbreak. But we don't know for sure — they may have finished development in the last minutes of Season of the Dawn.

2.) Bugs. These sucks — everyone know. You know, DMG know, Cozmo know, your granny know. Unfortunately, not all of the bugs can be spotted in the test server or test build, some of them reveal their true nature on the live server. Bungie don't want them to be constant problem, but they here, among us. Who knows, why: maybe due to working from home Bungie can't playtest things properly (because test builds were only on machines in their studio), maybe because Bungie do not have resources — whatever that means. World crisis definitely has a huuuuge impact on the time, that needed for fixing stuff.

IMPORTANT NOTE: this type of problems is the most disappointing for everyday gaming. This is a huge problem, a cherry on top of the pyramid of frustration. But it will be fixed eventually. Should we mention them? Yes. Should we complain about them? A liiitle bit, not so much.

For me the most concerning, emotional part — is the first one (lack of content, lazy desigh). This I don't understand completely: how the same people, who created Last Wish, Whisper and Outbreak can release this season and "expect to see a more positive feedback"?

Thanks for coming to my big brain unoriginal TED Talk. Thanks for the rewards — even tho I don't care about them in this type of depressive and offensive post.

What made Vault of Glass special was the entrance being in a public space. All raids should have that.

    Posted: 19 May 2020 05:21 PM PDT

This was the only raid to date where players could interact with people outside of the activity. People uninvolved, just passing through on patrols or story missions could encounter people building the spire- and help out.

One of my favorite things about VoG was fighting off the waves of Vex and having some random person zoom in to help out. Any time I passed through the area, if I saw people trying to open the gates I would stop whatever I was doing and join. Sometimes I'd just hang around and wait for a team to drop in.

Random players could help you through the first encounter, even though they wouldn't get anything out of it. Sometimes if they were down a man or two, you'd get invited along as well. That's how I found my clan in Y1 and it was awesome.

We've had a lot of raids where the entrance is part of the world and you can see it and build anticipation, but only one where you can actually see people trying to get inside and be able to back them up. It was the biggest sense of community I've gotten from this game.

Cozmo asks what topics we would like discussed in future TWaBs....

    Posted: 19 May 2020 11:03 AM PDT

    https://twitter.com/cozmo23/status/1262789231383994374?s=21

Personally, I'd love to hear more about the "play your way" idea. Since seasonal mods were released a major request from the community was to be able to equip seasonal mods on exotics. Most complaints came from not being able to equip the champion mods on exotic weapons.... and being able to use seasonal mods on exotic armor seems like a no brainer as well..

If we are meant to experiment with builds etc, why is there an increasing cost on resetting the artifact? Or even, why can we not unlock the entire artifact if we level up high enough?

What other "play your way" limitations would you all like discussed? Or would you all want a separate topic altogether?

Your alignment, as told by your gambit exotic of choice, explained by a reckoner.

    Posted: 19 May 2020 07:27 PM PDT

    The Good

Lawful Good: Lumina You like to help people, and you think you are at your best while you do it. You earn extra Lawful Good points if you pair it with middle tree sun-lock, and of course you do.

Neutral Good: Divinity You like to help people, but you still want to cause some damage while you do it. Everyone wants to be your friend, but no one wants to be in your place.

Chaotic Good: Tractor Cannon You love being close to the stomp- boss more than you like helping people, this just lets you do it without getting yelled at. You have dreams for the day you blast a missile titan out of the air moments before he destroys your fancy helmet. This day will likely never come.

    The Neutral

Lawful Neutral: RiskRunner Your only goal is to get massacre medals. As long as you get to kill as many baddies as you can, you are okay. If your team does not devote their life to helping you in this goal, you 100% want to include them in your killing spree.

True Neutral: Izanagi's Burden You like to deal damage. You live for the damage round. Even more than that, you think its hilarious when you one- shot- body- shot the invader moment after they arrive.

Chaotic Neutral: Jotunn You simply like to blow up the blockers. You will settle for blowing up anything else, though. Explosions are the only way you feel joy.

    The Bad

Lawful Evil: Black Talon You like to kill people, but you want them to have a chance to fight back. More likely, you dont have anything further up on the chaotic scale.

Neutral Evil: Truth You are the hellspawn combination of Lawful Evil and Chaotic Neutral. Woe to anyone who matches against you. Woe to the inbox of whoever takes the invade portal away from you.

    Chaotic Evil: Xenophage Fuck You.

Sunsetting weapons that have an exotic counterpart

    Posted: 19 May 2020 03:07 PM PDT

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. But weapons like Drang or Mida Mini-Tool being included in the legendaries that will no longer be able to have their power level increased would be a bummer.

I know not too many people utilize these pairings. But I've been using Sturm and Drang for most activities in D2 and it's a fun way to play.

Exotics not being sunset would leave a unique way of playing behind. I hope Bungie is able to bring these weapons along in future seasons.

House of Wolves released 5 years ago

    Posted: 19 May 2020 02:14 PM PDT

    Crazy how time flys.

Some of my best memories with this franchise are with this expansion. I had my first Destiny lan party during the expac.

Two friends and myself, 3 ps4s, 3 12 packs of mtn dew, and 3 pizzas. Sitting in the cosmodrome waiting for the wolves to show up. Getting a treasure key, running prison of elders level 30, and hoping for that etheric light.

    Cheers!

[ART] Art Commission of Three Friends in Their Fireteam

    Posted: 19 May 2020 01:47 PM PDT

    Image here!

I recently was very, very fortunate to get commissioned to draw this piece. It's of three friends who get together and play Destiny a lot with their favorite loadouts and the like.

The game is very important to me; playing together with friends is one of my favorite parts of the whole franchise. So the story really resonated with me, and it meant a lot to be able to celebrate the community these three people found.

Thanks for checking it out! If you want to see a few more shots and other work that I do, you can take a look on my socials:

Something about blowing 15 thrall into oblivion with one shot from Tractor Cannon during EP is just so satisfying. Forgot how stupid fun this gun is. 1000 shotgun kills, easy peasy.

Also triple shotguns with Voidlock running scavenger perks, Devour and Transversive steps, feel like a damn tank in PVE..AAARRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!
