List of coming changes to Destiny 2 organized by Seasons, summarized.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 03:05 PM PDT

After watching xHoundishx's video it made me think we could use something like this here on Reddit in order to track what changes are coming, and more specifically, when to Destiny 2. Below is the result of that thought, with everything taken directly from the TWAB newsletters (starting with April 23 2020) and summarized for easy consumption.

I hope this helps to keep people informed and keep expectations tempered with regard to when changes are coming. Items listed in the final section are placed there due to no direct statement as to when they will be arriving. All items listed are subject to change at anytime, per Bungie.

    Season 11 (June 9th 2020)

    • Trials of Osiris changes
    1. Token payout milestones at 3/5/7 wins with increasing amounts.
    2. Weekly Bounty addition, wins not required, (gives 3 win reward) unlocks engram.
    3. Masterworking Materials added to 3/5/7 wins.

    • General Changes
    1. New Seasonal Engram to contain select weapons from seasons 8, 9 & 10. (two from each)
    2. Nearly-completed bounties get grace period before eventual removal.
    3. Aspirational Armor pursuit for activities, not season pass or Eververse.
    4. Infusion Level Caps become visible, won't affect load outs until Season 12.
    5. Seasonal Engram listed above is obtainable from all activities, includes s11 loot.
    6. Engram listed above able to be "focused" towards specific items in that pool via seasonal currency once you've earned the ability to do so. (season pass gets 15 focus categories, free gets 3)
    7. Two new Seasonal Activities.
    8. Legendary Engrams obtained have a chance to be either a Seasonal Engram (66%) or Basic/World Legendary Engram (34%). (percentage is probability)
    9. Legendary "World Pool" Engram (as above\*)* to contain select items from each activity in relevance to current meta and will be cycled with regards to current max level cap going forwards.
    10. Perk Updates / Adjustments. (See: 05/21/20 TWAB listed below for detailed information)
    11. New Perks for Season 11 Weapons, 2 New Perks for Iron Banner Reprised Weapons.
    12. Buffs to Slug Shotguns and Bows in PvE, High Impact Pulse in PvP.

Season 12 (Year 4 Launch - September est.)

    • Trials of Osiris Changes
    1. Material farming focused Card addition.

    • General Changes
    1. Moving to a seasonal content model where seasonal activities last the duration of the year in which they are released instead of leaving at the end of the season.
    2. Activities will remain, but the season-specific grind will not. (obelisk upgrading used as example)
    3. Account-scoped, non-expiring objectives to grant large boosts to seasonal progression replacing weekly bounties.
    4. Bounties to stop being the mandatory way to earn xp, now optional to optimize income.
    5. Will no longer be selling ships, ghost shells, sparrows, or armor ornaments in Eververse that are visually based on themes from Aspirational Activities.
    6. New armor for Strikes, Crucible and Gambit. (and each year following)
    7. New Pursuit Weapon to earn each season, unlock different ornaments via each activity.
    8. Legendaries released in Seasons 1-8 will be "retired" from pinnacle activities. (unable to reach cap)
    9. Armor's Seasonal mod slot will change to year-long mods.
    10. Adjustments to Snipers (zoom), Hand Cannons (subfamilies), and Adaptive Autos.

    Season 13 (TBD)

    • Trials of Osiris Changes
    1. New Armor, Weapons and Accessories. (not reprisal)

    • General Changes
    1. In-Orbit Bounty Board. (similar to Eververse page)

No Season Specified (but talked about)

    • Trials of Osiris Changes
    1. Adept-style Weapons.

    • General Changes
    1. Full Legendary Transmog for Armor via SILVER or in-game effort.
    2. No longer selling new legendary weapon ornaments via Eververse.
    3. Moving away from character-specific paths to earn bright dust, focusing towards account based methods earning more dust overall, for single character players.
    4. Season Pass Bright Engrams to include various Y3 items originally sold for bright dust and silver.
    5. Going Forward, bright engram will include items from 3+ seasons prior.
    6. Last Wish and Garden of Salvation pools will have "an extension" on their retirement but no explanation as to how long this will be. No word on Scourge of the Past or Crown of Sorrows loot pools.

As more TWABs are published, this list will be updated to reflect when changes are slated to be coming to the game. Thank you for reading this and please let me know if there is something that I missed, or misinterpreted as the last thing I wish to do is spread false information. Cheers!

Quickdraw is next on the chopping block, mark my words.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 10:14 AM PDT

With the most recent TWAB, Bungie is steering away from perks that provide a benefit of a maximum stat (outlaw giving max reload, rapid hit giving max stability). The only other perk that has a similar effect is quickdraw, which maxes out handling. This perk has been the must-have-or-dismantle of pretty much every shotgun since Forsaken. Now that Bungie gave everyone a curated aggressive shotgun with quickdraw, they'll let everyone enjoy it for a bit longer and then give it the same treatment as outlaw and rapid hit. It's only a matter of time...

Edit: this really blew up.. thanks for the discussion. Lots of valids points being talked about. For those discussing whether quickdraw maxes out handling or not, please check the comment from u/rjld333.

Regardless of what the case really is, the main point is that just like reload perks, Quickdraw is the BiS perk for a lot of weapons and overshadows any perk that is shared in the same column. Reload perks are getting nerfed because they overshadow everything else, just like Quickdraw does.

I think I figured out how Undying, Dawn, and Worthy are going to come together

    Posted: 23 May 2020 12:54 PM PDT

Io. There is going to be a battle at Io

    • By season's end, the Pyramids are going to reach Io.
    • Io is one of the few likely places for the Pyramid's to stop, given its history and infusion with the light.
    • Io has the Pyramidion, which contains the Vex network that was ruined in Undying and Dawn
    • Io has the Cabal, who have played the last of their cards.
    • Io has Rasputin, his outermost bunker, and over 3 million defensive warsats.
    • Io is littered with Ahamkara bones, which could tie into the cut scene with Eris in the Pyramid. (Edit, this could be wrong)
    • Io is a holy place, which means a battle would certainly involve Saint

This is the place where all of the story lines can come together. Here is my prediction:

    • The Pyramids reach Io, take control of the Taken, and flood Sol Divisive Vex through the Pyramidion
    • The Cabal on Io make an alliance with us, having run out of options.
    • This opens up the new seasonal activity: Battles
      • The Io patrol zone is placed on hold
      • Battles will rotate between the 3 landing zones
      • There will be a friendly side (Rasputin or Cabal) and enemy side (Taken or Vex)
      • Guardians will work with friendly ai to complete objectives during each battle
    • Taken Champions
    • Season ends with a mission where the Pyramids win the battle and we get a glimpse at the next enemy faction

Edit: alot of yall are saying this is too good for a season, but this is low effort af

Unless they get a refresh, Menagerie and Reckoning are going to become completely irrelevant.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 10:54 AM PDT

This just occurred to me because of the whole sunsetting thing.

I don't think they should remove these modes. I like them and they're a good way to get good weapons, but after the weapons in these activities get sunset there will be 0 reason to go into them.

    Forges and Ada as well.

Drang needs to be immune to weapon sunsetting due to it being half of Sturm's Exotic perk.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 06:22 PM PDT

While I'm very much aware of the fact that weapon sunsetting will not affect Exotics, in Year 1, we had two of Exotic Kinetic weapons (MIDA Multi-Tool and Sturm) that had an Energy weapon that paired with them (MIDA Mini-Tool and Drang, respectively).

While you can leave behind the Mini-Tool without much difficulty as it doesn't affect the Multi-Tool, the same isn't true for Drang, due to the interaction between the two parts, and can almost be considered a pseudo-Exotic weapon due to the fact that it's what's responsible for Sturm being able to have the overflowed shots.

Hopefully, this has already been accounted for, but better to be safe than sorry.

Today I completed a 2 year long feat. I got all seals in the game!

I think it's a pretty nice way to celebrate having 1.5 million subs in this subreddit.

    All Seals Complete https://imgur.com/gallery/8SfMqvy

Took me a while to get Harbinger, and Reckoner was more time consuming than annoying (Massacre medals are easy with middle tree Sentinel and Telesto). I'd say Conqueror is the one I'm most proud of, namely because of how disgustingly hard Broodhold and Warden was, and how satisfying it was to complete them after dozens of failures. Unbroken and Rivensbane seemed impossible to get, until I joined an awesome clan and made some of my closest friends.

I think now I'm going to take a break until Season 11. Here's hoping we get an exciting conclusion in two weeks, and not Seraph towers 2.0 (/s but not really).

    Posted: 23 May 2020 03:29 AM PDT

It clogs up my screen and makes crucible more annoying. It's not even a decent reward. It's just three gunsmith materials. The solution is very simple: get rid of it. In future, you can add crucible vendor drops and world drops. But push out the super easy fix first. Thank you

There needs to be an announcement about weapon sunseting in-game. Otherwise people are spending money on ornaments for guns they will eventually not be able to use whenever they want.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 06:28 AM PDT

Full Disclosure: I haven't played Destiny since two weeks before the season of The worthy. I still keep an eye on this subreddit and amd Destiny news because I really want to return to this game one day. Having said that a large majority of the player base don't look on social media for information and they need to be told of potential changes in game. Otherwise it just feels like milking the ignorant well they can.

I still love this game, but I really miss the post apocalyptic vibe and mystery. That feeling of being the last of humanity is completely gone right now.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 10:08 AM PDT

Everything from the music, to the lighting, and even the colors went from gritty and survivalist with a hint of hope to shiny, perfect, and overbearing.

Nothing really feels threatening anymore, and I don't think it's only because of the story. The mystery in D1 came from uncovering the past and exploring the remains of humanity. The collapse felt like it took a toll on Earth, but now it feels like nothing matters.

On top of the general feeling of the game, the story and interactivity with the universe is just gone. We're no longer searching the solar system uncovering the past while defending ourselves from strange threats. Now we just go kill monsters and that's it. It's like we know everything and none of our actions as players hold any weight other than just shooting.

The gameplay hasn't changed much since D1, yet I somehow I feel like the overarching story of the universe is less important. Even though we are directly relevant to the events of the story, it feels like everything is happening around us.

Yeah, perk nerfs suck—but updating old perks is a step in the right direction. So, let's improve more of them.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 08:07 AM PDT

While it's never fun to see some of the perks we've come to love be nerfed, it was nice to see some unexpected buffs to perks that typically aren't top tier. The thing is, there are still A LOT of garbage perks out there. I'm glad Bungie is making these changes, but I've come up with some ideas to make more perks viable in endgame content and PvP. Let me know what you think and please post more ideas in the comments below. I'd love to read them.

    Osmosis
Osmosis is actually a fun-to-use perk, but it just doesn't have much viability unless you use it in playlists that have elemental burns (and even then, I still never use it). In PvP it literally does nothing. Since Osmosis requires a grenade to activate, it would only make sense to give it some synergy with grenades. Demolitionist already gives you grenade energy, so instead, what if enemies damaged by your grenade take EXTRA damage from an Osmosis weapon. Even 30% and I don't think it'd be OP. It could be a short duration as well. Just a few seconds of debuff, and suddenly I think it's much more viable in PvE and PvP.

    Disruption Break
Probably the most useful of the shield perks, this perk would be WAY better if it also gave you bonus weapon swap speed. Maybe it even reloads your kinetic weapon because that would make sense.

    Underdog
Pulse Monitor is basically a better version of this, no? Pulse Monitor might not trigger Kill Clip or MKC, but it's instant. Plus Pulse Monitor works while a weapon is stowed. Considering the perk is called Underdog, it should help you clutch out a fight you might have otherwise lost. If you have to reload, no amount of bonus speed is going to save you. Instead, it should give bonus damage (15%?) after being critically wounded, but drastically reduce reload for a time. So it will help you clutch one kill in a pinch, but hurt you for follow up kills. A big boost that comes at a cost.

    Surrounded
Would this perk be OP if they extended the range of this perk by a meter or two? Feels like I have to be right next to enemies for this to trigger.

    High Impact Reserves
I actually think this is a pretty interesting perk, but I think it should be combined with an old D1 perk: final round. So if you get a kill with the final shot of your magazine, you get massively increased reload speed. I like this because it would require careful management of your ammo to get the most of the perk.

    Mulligan
I'm not a fan of perks that require you to miss, but if shots returned via Mulligan came with 10%? 15%? extra damage, I'd give it a try.

    Shield Disorient
This is probably the worst of all the shield-specific perks and I think the fact that it REQUIRES energy-matched shield explosions is what kills it. It should activate on any shield break and then maybe I can use it? Even then, I'm not sure.

    Zen Moment
This is just a quality of life thing, but can you show Zen Moment stacks on the screen so that players can know this is working? Similar to Rapid Hit?

    Genesis
Yes, another shield perk. None of them are very good in my opinion. With this one, I actually think the reload of your weapon on a shield break is great, but rather than generating ammo when you match shields, I think it should have a chance to drop heavy ammo when breaking a shield with a matching elemental type.

    Headseeker
The bonus damage this perk gives is too low, and honestly, it should be doubled. But, because I don't think Bungie would ever do that, my second suggestion is to increase accuracy and range on a body shot. That way the rest of your burst is more likely to at least crit and proc the bonus damage.

    ---------

As I was going through and thinking of ways to improve some lackluster perks, I also came up with some ideas for new perks, so I'm including them below. They're more PvP focused as that is what I enjoy the most (sorry). Again, let me know what you think and post your own ideas below :)

    Burning Rounds
Rapid precision hits (maybe 3?) ignites a target and causes a small amount of burn damage. In PvE this could be good for preventing shield regen on some enemies, but I imagine it more as a PvP perk. It could be really low damage and it's still SUPER useful. Even 1 damage a tick for 6 - 7 ticks and I'd use it.

    Lucky Shot
Precision kills load one high damage round into the magazine that doesn't go away on weapon stow. I'm thinking a 30% bonus to just one bullet, but even at 20% I'd be interested. 10% might be too low.

Edit: Just to be clear, despite the name, the bonus damage bullet would be the next bullet in the mag. Not RNG. I should have been clearer.

    Head hunter
Damaging a full-health target grants a short period of increased accuracy and briefly highlights that target. This perk is about picking a target and staying on target—something that's sometimes hard in 6v6 Crucible playlists.

    Strongman
Gaining an Overshield briefly increases weapon handling, stability and accuracy. There are plenty of ways to get an Overshield, so this might be too strong. But it'd also be super fun with certain builds (OEM, Mid-tree Dawnblade, etc.)

    Ghost
Getting a kill with full health grants increased sprint speed and briefly removes you from radar. This would be a great perk on a shotgun I think. Super fun.

    Take Aim
Aiming down sights for a short period of time without shooting increases weapon zoom. I'm imagining this as a combination of Rangefinder (but stronger) and Boxed Breathing. It would be really good on a lot of weapons because sometimes ALWAYS having the bonus zoom from Rangefinder is annoying, but other times it's incredible. This way, you'd get to have control over when it procs, but it comes at the cost of having to stay aimed down sights for a period of time.

    Blinding Shot
Rapid precision hits (maybe 3?) create an explosion that briefly blinds nearby enemies. I'm thinking an explosion about half the size of a flashbang, but a similar blinding effect.

Anyway, those are just my ideas. While I'd love to see Bungie introduce more and more interesting perks into the game, I also think they should take some time to buff SOME of the less desirable perks to provide more synergy and player choice as opposed to what we currently have: damage and reload.

Bungie would kill two birds with a stone letting us change our weapon's masterwork using the chalice of opulence, making the menagerie 100% relevant forever.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 03:21 PM PDT

They just have to give us the option to put a particular weapon in our inventory in the second slot of the chalice instead of a rune.

Desire rune + Reload masterwork Spare Rations of your choice (of course) + any green rune = new almost sunset range masterwork Spare Rations.

When loaded question is sunset, there will not be a good legendary fusion for pve anymore.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 08:59 AM PDT

I would use the pinnacle perk from loaded question and split it into 2 perks. One for the aoe on kills and one with the damage on the first shot. The second one could be a problem in pvp with fusion that have a mag of 5, but maybe not. Thoughts?

Bungie, you should put concept art in the lore books.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 01:51 PM PDT

I liked reading "the liar" I like reading all the lore entries. They are all really well written. It would be cool to see some accompanying concept art that relates to each one and who the artist was. There are so many good artists that make concept panels for the game. I'd love to be able to see them.

Does Bungie support not exist? - no reply to support ticket for 2 months...

    Posted: 23 May 2020 04:17 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm at my whits end here and I have no idea how to contact Bungie support to help me with my issue so I can play the game!

I sent a support ticket into Bungie.net over 2 months ago now (March 22nd) and I haven't been able to play it since, I've tried sending another ticket a month ago (April 24th) as I thought maybe my first ticket had gotten lost in their system or something, but I still haven't had a reply to this day.

Has anyone else managed to get help from Bungie support? - why haven't they replied to me at all?

Amidst the bad will surrounding the Lie quest, I was pretty shocked to find out how compelling Felwinter's story was IMO

    Posted: 23 May 2020 10:38 AM PDT

Bungie's lore department had always delivered exceptional content. But it seems like this time they've outdone themselves. I don't have any credibility when it comes to critiquing literary works, but I do have a passion for storytelling and character pieces. And despite my admittedly low expectations for the content surrounding Felwinter's Lie, so it was a pleasant surprise to see how much of Felwinter's story resonated. So much so that I was inspired to write up this little opinion piece recapping why I loved it so much. I'll be dividing my thoughts into sections for the 0 to 1 people who didn't mind giving this idiot a bit of their time. Citation is included as well through Ishtar Collective, but I suggest anyone that sees this, if anyone, read the lore themselves.

Please point out any issues with formatting, etc. I hope you'll take this time to do some exploration into this topic and offer any points I've missed.

    A little background:

-The first time I became aware of Felwinter's presence in the game was with the exotic piece Winter's Guile (I've never played D1, sorry to my fellow Alpha Beta Charlie Delta D1 vets). I was not too familiar with the franchise at the time, so I thought a good starting point would be this cool little Exo dude that presumably liked punching people. But as I delved deeper into the lore he just faded into the background.

-Enter D2's resurrection of Felwinter's Lie, at that point I had pretty much no interest in the story. As much as I love Shaxx I've always felt that the "shaxx is a cool guardian who does cool things and totally crushed this other guy lol pog praise geraldo sant14sant14" echo chamber kind of distracted from how great of a character he was. And this time just seemed like another one of those until we got the lore books. But enough incoherent babbling, time for some slightly less incoherent babbling:

    General ideas to take:

-I've always liked stories with numerous interlinking themes, in this case it is no different. The narrative, when viewed as a whole, briefly touched upon the brutal and Machiavellian nature of the dark age. Along with personal struggles of identity, discovery, the relationship between ghost and guardian, and something I found very surprising: duty.

    (1) The first is clearly shown as with most of the lore surrounding the dark age. Where we woke up in the Cosmodrone and made it back to the city with relative ease, Felwinter woke up to being crushed by warsats, countless Rasputin frames coming to destroy him, and no one to trust, a point emphasized by his ghost.

    (see https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/2-the-beginning-part-ii#lord-felwinter, https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/4-the-assailant#book-the-liar, https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/winters-guile?highlight=felwinter, also very ironic: https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/7-the-warlord#book-the-liar)

    (2) Another noteworthy thing is that Felwinter and his ghost, Felspring's relationship is highlighted in the new lore. Felwinter only followed the ghost at first due to necessity, but as the timeline progresses they develop a friendship through mutual respect and care for one another.

(see https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/3-the-name#book-the-liar, https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/12-the-lure#book-the-liar also reinforced by the point below.)

    (3) What I think is the most important thing to take away is the Truth of Felwinter's Lie. Upon discovering his true nature, Felwinter and Felspring swore to themselves and took this secret to their graves. The lie was not some heinous crime he had committed, nor it was a fundamental law of the universe they have discovered. They did not lie out of cowardice, far from it, but out of obligation that the burden was theirs alone. A short story by Bungie shows that Felwinter was willing to kill Lord Timur if push came to shove.

(see https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/felwinters-lie, https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/12-the-lure#lord-felwinter, https://www.ishtar-collective.net/records/remembrance, also to expand upon this see point #5.)

-Something that has always stuck with me was the different facets of Felwinter shown throughout the various lore pieces. Upon the first introduction he was coldblooded. His actions were the highlight (mostly) and who he was as a person was still up to debate. But with the return of the sniper-shotgun, we are given more perspective. I'd say this is what made me sympathize with him the most.

    (4) As mentioned above with his resurrection, Felwinter was confused, paranoid, and most importantly: frightened. He was weathered by the forces that chased him and the bleak world around him. So he became cold and ruthless. Only to see a world where people won't have to live in fear and sleep in darkness, rather optimistic and determined compared to his perceived cynicism. As he has explained himself, he joined the ILs so that he does not have to "sleep with his back against the wall."

(see https://www.ishtar-collective.net/cards/lord-felwinter#lord-felwinter, also see point #1.)

    (5) My last and favorite note about this character is how he has evolved in his time as a Guardian. I'd like to think the shift in perspective comes through the way he views responsibilities. In his early days, Felwinter had no choice but to care for himself more and anyone else. A trait that is starkly opposite of the modern-day guardian tenets. Over the course of his journey as a risen we see that the people he meets (particularly the girl who stopped paying tribute and the Iron Lords themselves) have made him rethink his philosophy. Felwinter might've left the system and escape from Rasputin if he had the chance, but as the final mark of his evolution: he stayed to support them. This is his journey from Risen to Guardian, and how ghosts support their chosen. Unfortunately it would end in the Iron Lords' ruin.

    (see https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/obsidian-wings?highlight=obsidian+wings )

    Final Note:

I've always wondered if Bungie would ever turn away from the narrative they pushed. And while I think there has been a lot of bad decisions over at HQ, this incredible lore gives me a modicum of hope that the vision for this franchise would be realized. A story of duality: darkness and light, survival and duty, self-satisfaction and comradery, and the bleak realization of horrors ahead and the determination to push on. I think this story is a pretty accurate reflection of the franchise as a whole. But whether it ends grimly like Felwinter's tale or triumphantly is up to Bungie.

TL;DR: A great piece of lore that gave a lot of depth to a past character. Robot man was epic, but robot man now sympathetic. If you read through this then thanks and sorry fam

Quick edit: and this is just Felwinter's side of the story. I'm sure Rasputin got some great character development with this story as well.

Question about Ana and The Lie quest

    Posted: 23 May 2020 03:38 AM PDT

Am I the only one who is disturbed by how quickly she goes from, "oh crap, is Rasputin actually kind of a piece of shit," to, "awwww look, it has feelings!" Like seriously we just learned that he killed something he viewed as a son out of jealousy. That something was a lightbearer. But no, you're to busy gushing about how sentimental the inter-planetary defense matrix is to realize this.

    Please buff the malfeasance!

    Posted: 23 May 2020 07:44 AM PDT

To this day, malfeasance is probably one of the coolest guns in terms of design and functionality. The only problem is.. it kinda sucks. Primary weapons are just that, your primary source of fire for killing small enemies. Most enemies won't survive 5 shots to begin with, rendering this gun to a sub par 180 hand cannon (that's another thing. 180 hand cannons don't see much daylight with this current sand box). And if it does take more than 5 shots, you'd probably want to use a secondary.

Some people have suggested lowering the proc to 3 or 4 bullets instead of 5. Personally, I think this can be a bit OP in crucible considering it can kill very far away given you land your shots. The gun is incredibly stable and having the ability to down people from scout rifle ranges; with a hand cannon, this is a bit extreme. I think the 5 bullet proc is fine.

one way to improve this gun is having the malfeasance bullets explode anyways when the enemy dies, this way it'll create a firefly-esque effect. It's not some game changing change, it's just a small little touch that will make the gun feel less situational, and allows the exotic perk of this gun to be more viable. As of now, the exotic perk is very situational, and really only shines in gambit (I get that it's a gambit weapon, but it's be really cool if the gun was more viable in other areas of the game as well).

What are your thoughts on the gun? Do you think it can be improved? If so, how?
