    Trials of Osiris are LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

Before Season 11, Here's a Recap of Everything That's Happened in the Last Nine Months

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 03:27 PM PDT

This is for people who either lost track of the plot or took a long hiatus. Either way, here's what you missed.

    TL;DR:

In Season 8, the Pyramid had orchestrated a war between the City and the Vex. We won that war, which severely damaged the Vex network.

In Season 9, we have to stop the cabal from exploiting that, and fix the mess the war created. In doing so, we save Saint-14 from death.

In Season 10, the Pyramids make their next move on the system, and we set to prepare Rasputin for them (plus the almighty). The Pyramids will reach Saturn in 4 days.

    Longer Version:

    Season 8, The City-Vex War:

    Shadowkeep was a setup

The Lunar Pyramid created the Nightmares in order to lure Guardians to the moon. The plan was simple: Pit Guardians against the original final shape, the Vex. The exact motive of this is unknown so far. It could be to soften up the system, removing one of its largest forces. It could also be to test if we are the new final shape. Or perhaps it was just meant to destroy us.

Contrary to popular belief, the Sol Divisive are not a separate Vex network*. They just persue a different meathod of achieving the Vex's goals: to simulate (or harness, thanks u/endlessalaki) the darkness.

So, when the City constructs a portal and kills the Undying Mind over and over, effectively shutting down their operation, the Vex get "knocked out". In the Infinite Forest, every simulation ends up the same: The Pyramids win. The Vex no longer think they can win.

(Also Banshee gives us a big bow)

    * The Sol Divisive has far more autonomy and commonly infights with other vex networks. Regardless, they are still connected. Vex are complicated.

    Season 9, The Fallout:

So, shit. The clock is ticking and the Pyramids are coming, but first we have to clean up the mess we made.

A Cabal detachment of Psion Flayers have stolen Osiris's prototype time machine, the Sundial, to exploit the broken Vex network. They want to change the outcome of the Red War, and perhaps turn Ghaul into a Psion puppet. They fuck it up severely and, on Mercury, time fractured into a million parallel timelines. We have to shut down all of them with the Sundial.

The broken network has also allowed us to access the Corridors of Time. This is a place that exists outside of time which the Vex use to time travel. The City sends guardian expeditions into it. The Young Wolf is one of them, and they find a way to meet Saint-14 in Mercury's past. They help him fight off the Fallen and inspire Saint to become the guardian we all know. The Young Wolf also meets him a second time, just before he is about to die, and saves him.

Another expedition into the Corridors of Time shows the Young Wolf's funeral. But we get a fusion rifle so its ok.

After beating the Psion Flayers, Saint-14 begins the Empyrean Foundation, an effort by all guardians to get a shitload of loot restore the lighthouse and restart the Trials of Osiris.

(Also Saint and Shaxx have a chat at Twilight Gap)

    Season 10, The Pyramids Approach:

The mess has been cleaned up, time to prepare for the Pyramids. Lets arm Rasputin

After we ruined their plans, the Cabal launched the Almighty at us. So, we work with Rasputin to activate his bunkers. Doing so will allow us to construct enough warsats to destroy the Almighty. Except, when we activate the Io bunker, we find out that the Pyramids are already here.

    Fuck

Warsat production immediately shifts to stopping the Pyramids. We'll have enough to destroy the Almighty regardless. The City starts producing them, along with heavy frames, on Earth, Luna, and Io. Guardians do this by defending Seraph Towers from scavengers

As the Pyramids approach each week, Rasputin begins to trust us. To prove that trust to us, he comes clean: he killed the Iron Lords. SIVA was a trap that he set up because of Felwinter, who was a part of Rasputin before he was risen and was seen as a rouge asset. But we get a shotgun so its ok.

The Almight will be destroyed tomorrow, and the Pyramids will reach Saturn next week.

    (Also Caiatl stole Zavala's shotgun)

So, if you've missed the last 9 months, this is whats happened. The Vex are broken, Saint-14 is running the Trials, Rasputin is armed, and we have an army of gods breathing down our neck.

Edit: changed the S8 paragraph to be more speculative. It was not explained well enough and the vex are too incomprehensible for me to have been so sure.

I did it... I know why it's called season of [redacted]...

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 07:57 PM PDT

We know so little about season 11, right? Bungie has been suprisingly quiet... I've got a theory as to why.

10 AM - The Almighty hurls ever closer to the tower. Oddly, Rasputin seems to be cutting it a little close. Shots go off, but the Almighty remains.

BOOM. The Almighty hits the tower. Explosions. Screen goes dark. Servers offline for 3 months.

We are the ones being redacted.

Bungie - don’t nerf autos, revert nerfs to other archetypes to make them more competitive. Some suggestions.

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 04:14 PM PDT

I feel like this needs to said. Bungie has once again gone on a bit of a nerf rampage. I understand that people don't like autos being so strong right now but I totally believe this is due to the nerfs given to range/stability on other weapons.

To start: 1.) Hand Cannon range nerfs were WAY too hard. They were necessary but I feel like some hand cannons may as well just be a sidearm, especially given what's viable on console

2.) make other auto archetypes more forgiving. You're already doing this a bit with pulses but why stop there? I haven't seen a 450 auto be used competitively since uriels Y1.

3.) sub machine guns on console are atrocious and completely outplayed by sidearms. Seriously I would pay to see a dev try and use cold front, like wtf.

4.) CONSOLE NEEDS A GLOBAL RECOIL REDUCTION TO ALLOW A MORE DIVERSE META. I cannot stress this enough. SO many guns get trashed because they're literally just unusable. It would also help console players be competitive in Day 1 raid races since you refuse to separate platforms (which every other game has adopted, like wtf).

I like faster TTK gameplay, I agree we need some adjustments to 600s and others but let's not nerf our guns back to D2Y1 please.

We need more friendly AI like Heavy Frames

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 01:36 PM PDT

Seriously, I'm gonna miss those Rasputin Stands once Tuesday arrives. Heavy frames were just the best part of Season 10 for me because without them, Bunker clearing, Lost Sectors, and Seraph Towers would've been even more monotonous, and I don't think I'd even have my Almighty title.

If I would've done anything different, I think there should've been HF spawn points added into other general PVE activities like Strikes and Escalation protocol, but the seasons dead and done, so can't ask for too much.

Still, it's not often that we get Friendly AI in Destiny 2. It may not be much, but it's enough to appreciate, as it's a breath of fresh air compared to repeating the same activities with either Ugly kinderguardians or Fashion Gods.

EDIT: also bring Memory of Timur back.

Anybody thinking about buying Shadowkeep - the expansion is currently on sale, but wait u til Tuesday after reset to purchase it.

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 11:15 AM PDT

You will get Shadowkeep and the new Season of the [REDACTED] bundled in.

Shadowkeep is on sale for around $20. The new season is $10 standalone, so you'll essentially be getting Shadowkeep included for an extra $10.

    Good deal in my eyes.

Thought this would be helpful for any new / returning players to know since the question is being asked here a lot lately.

Towermath: The Almighty Has Been Travelling Towards The City For About 6 Years

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 08:28 PM PDT

I know this is stupid but just something I thought of while staring at the sun:

    • In the Tower there is a sunrise every hour
    • That makes 24 days in the Tower for every 1 day in real life
    • From March 10 to June 6 = 88 real life days
    • 88 * 24 = 2,112 days
    • 2,112 days / 365 = 5.78 Years

The Almighty Event could have had a weeks notice

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 03:57 PM PDT

Live events are something I have wanted to see in Destiny ever since Fortnite set the trend. I'm so proud Bungie is trying this formula out and seeing both the Pyramid ship wall and the Almighty approach has been great world building.

HOWEVER, issuing a event date the day before is a little odd. Unfortunately I wont be able to witness the event tomorrow as I'm a key worker and have shifts for most of the weekend. So for future this could be amended by giving a weeks heads up or a Fortnite esque countdown.

Of course no one knows what will happen tomorrow; but I hope no matter what, that everyone enjoys it, and I'll be sure to see the hundreds of recap videos on my way home.

Using the Tower Hangar so that we could build our own ships via "ship plans" from Amanda Holliday.

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 06:57 AM PDT

This is how I envision it:

Amanda Holliday would sell unique rotating ship plans, legendary and exotic. The parts would be earned by completing activities in the game, for example, here would be some steps to complete an exotic ship:

Fire Bird (has a unique design that resembles aspects of a Phoenix)

    • Body: Complete 3 Nightfall Ordeals with a score higher than 100,000

    • Wings: Kill 150 Guardians with solar supers in the Crucible

    • Engine: Complete 50 heroic public events

An area in the Hangar is set aside to show where your ship is being built, starting off as a frame. As progress is made on the objectives, you can see your ship being built over time. Each ship would have various objectives, with the exotic ships having tougher or lengthier checklist items.

    OR

You can purchase a "ship card" that works like the Reckoning synthesizer and you get ship "part" drops at random from playing activities. Each activity (Raids/Nightfalls/Strikes/Crucible/Gambit/Patrols) have their own unique set of ships that drop ONLY in those places. You slot those items into the synthesizer once you earn them and return to the hangar to "build" the ship via placing the synthesizer into a machine next to an empty hangar space

If you want to sunset gear, fine, but don’t sunset the Margarine’s loot pool

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 02:58 AM PDT

The Margarine is definitely the best activity in Destiny 2, but it's not utilized well nowadays. That could change if the loot earned through the Chalice of Opulence + the chest after the Margarine is complete did not sunset. We could use more time in the Margarine— especially now, when almost every other activity is getting more and more boring every month.

Edit: Well, this is something interesting to wake up to... Oh, I see. I said "Menagerie" wrong.

    Final

    The Chaos of a Voidwalker

Voidwalker has been the subject of constant buffs and nerfs. When D2 launched, it was by far the best PvE class due to Devour. When Forsaken dropped, Nova Warp was easily decimating the Crucible, while not doing much else in PvE. Skull of Dire Ahamkara gave it some life until Bungie put it to bed and Handheld Supernovas aren't what they used to be. The class has since been neutered, and now that Dawnblades can heal anyone and Nightstalkers can constantly go invisible, Voidwalker has lost a lot of utility in both PvE and PvP sandboxes. With the adjustments I've made, I think Voidwalker will return as one of the most versatile classes in the game. Not exactly a team player, but a true one man (or woman) army.

    Big Changes

Just like my other 2.0 subclasses, the Forsaken Supers can be activated by holding your Super buttons, similar to the current Ward of Dawn on top tree Sentinel Titan.

Devour has been changed from a melee to a perk. Voidwalker will be receiving a new melee in its place.

    Understanding the new layout

The way the tree progresses will be similar to Destiny 1 where you unlock perks linearly. This version of the tree is the final form after you have unlocked all of the perks. The tree grows as you unlock perks, starting with the 1 grenade, 1 melee, 1 jump, and 1 Super perk. Then the tree expands to show the 4 nodes with 2 perks. You unlock 1 perk in each of those nodes, then you go back into the inner square and unlock another 4 perks, then you go back to the middle square and unlock the rest of the perks, then back to the inner square. After unlocking the rest of those perks, the tree branches out and reveals the outer square. You go around unlocking 1 perk in each node until you finish the tree.

The grenade and jump node remain unchanged. The node directly to the left of the central node is the Super node. The node directly to the right is the melee node. When reading the tree, I use directions like on a compass while reading it in a clockwise fashion.

    Super node

    1. Lance - Nova Bomb travels farther and faster, and does more damage .
    2. Cataclysm - Nova Bomb travels slowly and seeks enemies. Detonations shatter into smaller seeker projectiles. Fire your weapon at the Nova Bomb to detonate it early.
    3. Vortex - Nova Bomb creates a singularity which continually damages enemies trapped inside. Enemies Damage increases exponentially.

    Melee node

    1. Atomic Breach - This melee ability pushes enemies away and creates a Void explosion.
    2. Entropic Pull - Strike an enemy with this melee to drain their life force, replenishing health and grenade energy. (Added health regeneration)
    3. Consumption - Striking an enemy with this melee will remove any shielding they have and reloads your equipped weapon. (Works against Barrier shields, any elemental shields, and Guardian Overshields)

    North node

    1. Handheld Supernova - Hold [Grenade] to convert your grenade into a short-range Void blast on release.
    2. Chaos Accelerant - Hold [Grenade] to overcharge your grenade, making it deadlier and more effective.
    3. Feed the Void - Hold [Grenade] to consume your grenade to regenerate your health. Grants Devour and Surge simultaneously. (Added Surge as an additional benefit)

    Northeast node

    1. Angry Magic - Defeating an enemy while inside a Rift causes them to explode with Void energy.
    2. Black Hole - Enemies that pass through your Rift become suppressed and weakened.

    East node

    1. Fission - Being critically wounded increases ability damage and you release a repulsive blast of Void energy.
    2. Bloom - Void ability kills cause enemies to explode and leave pools of suppressive Void light.
    3. Insatiable - Killing enemies while Devour or Surge is active extends its duration. (Removed the grenade recharge)

    Southeast node

    1. Dark Matter - Void ability kills create Orbs of Light. Supers generate additional Orbs. (Completely changed this perk. Its original form was already present with Devour and so many other perks that it became redundant.)
    2. Annihilation - Void ability kills create Axion Bolts that seek out nearby enemies. (This works similarly to Graviton Lance)

    South node

    1. Maw of the Void - Kills against weakened enemies or while critically wounded reload your weapons.
    2. Ravenous - Kills while Devour or Surge is active charge your abilities.
    3. Entropy - Taking damage charges your abilities. Grenades enhanced by Chaos Accelerant suppress and weaken enemies.

    Southwest node

    1. Empowering Rift - Conjure a well of Light that increases weapon damage for those inside it.
    2. Healing Rift - Conjure a well of Light that continuously heals those inside it.

    West node

    1. Hypernova - When cast with full grenade, melee, and Rift energy, Nova Bomb does more damage and has a larger blast radius or Nova Warp lasts longer and charges Void eruptions faster.
    2. Abyssal Pact - Lose your Super, but gain an additional grenade, melee, and Rift. Orbs of Light charge your abilities.
    3. Embrace the Void - Casting your Super or Rift grants an Overshield. You take no damage from your own abilities.

    Northwest node

    1. Surge - Defeating an enemy with a Void ability grants increased movement speed and weapon haste for a short time.
    2. Devour - Defeating an enemy with a Void ability grants health regeneration. Kills restore additional health for a short time afterward.

This one took awhile. I wanted the art work to truly reflect what I see in my head, but I'm very bad at photoshop. Thank you guys for the feedback. This has been keeping me busy since I got laid off. Which one should I do next? Sotrmcaller, Sunbreaker, or Gunslinger?

Please add anti-champion capabilities to more exotic weapons

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 06:10 AM PDT

4 out of almost 70 exotic weapons have anti-champion capabilities built into them. Out of those, 2 of them are currently unobtainable to my knowledge (Eriana's and Devil's Ruin), another is a raid exotic, and the final one is a bow, which takes up both your heavy and exotic slot. Since exotics will not be sunset, they should probably be more viable in high-end activities, and an excellent way to do this would be to maybe throw some anti-barrier or overload rounds their way.

It's not like this would be shoehorned in either. In fact, it would provide a much needed buff to some otherwise underused exotics. Wish-ender, for example, really should pierce barriers, and is otherwise useless for most activities. Another source of long-range anti-barrier would be more than welcome, and in the primary slot too. Thorn might also make sense to be a candidate for this, but perhaps not from a balance perspective, who knows?

I'm not here to list every exotic and say which should and shouldn't have these abilities, but I do think it's an easy way to shake up the PvE exotic meta, and it wouldn't shock me if we see this in the future.

    Ornaments Collection Tab?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 02:22 PM PDT

Bungo, y u do this to me?

In all seriousness though, an Ornaments tab (included in, or separate from the Universal Armor Ornaments tab) in the Collections would be HUGELY appreciated.

At the moment, I have no bloody clue what ornaments I have bought, nor what ornaments I have not bought, and might like to wait around for.

Right now, to see what ornaments there are for things like the Celestial Nighthawk, I have to go look it up on Youtube, and frankly, that's just dumb.

Please Bungie, give us an Ornaments Collections tab, not just a Universal one for armor, but for ALL ornaments, whether they be legendary weapons or exotic armor/weapons.

Supposedly this is Bungie's attempt at a live event, as in we'll all see the almighty blow up in the tower at the same time. This means everyone will be logging in at roughly the same time, which means the load could be comparable to a content drop even. So log in earlier, because if you log in at say 9:50 hoping for your fast PC SSD to carry, then you risk being stuck in queue.

Really looking forward to the front page post tomorrow titled “Glad I caught the event live” that’s just a clip of them getting randomly booted from the tower right before reset
