since Witch Queen is the fall 2021 dlc, and Savathun is known for lies and deceit, her raid better be an absolute mindfuck

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 09:59 PM PDT

I'm talking like 15 bosses/encounters, all with mechanics that make you wanna close your scrotum in a broken dvd case. This raid better make last wish look like a terrible joke told at exactly the wrong time. Just get pissed on with loot if you even manage to beat one section of it. And she better make oryx look like some limp dick neckbeard that goes to anime conventions.

Bungie, please consider making the current armor system more accessible for players. Constantly grinding for armor sets and resources due to sunsetting armor and seasonal mod limitations is NOT a fun player experience.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 09:41 AM PDT

Over the past week, I've started to feel that the current armor system is actively discouraging me from being more invested in the game. Over the past two seasons, I created 3-4 fully masterworked PVP builds that cost a lot of time and resources. Once these builds were completed, I really enjoyed experimenting with different mods and exploring the charged with light mechanics for both PvE and PvP. The new mods that Bungie has introduced over the past few seasons have been a lot of fun to experience.

However, having to grind out resources and armor sets repeatedly because of sunsetting armor and the current mod system is NOT fun and is NOT what I enjoy about Destiny. For example, if I wanted to invest in a new set of masterworked armor and mods, the current armor system makes me have to deal with the following:

    • The stat RNG of each armor piece (this is slightly being addressed with the focused engrams, but I've seen some reports of these engrams being bugged)
    • The limited number of mods that work with each of affinity
    • The limited number of armor sets that use each mod (i.e., new mods only work with the previous season, the current season, and the following season)
    • The limited amount of time that armor can be used before being sunsetting
    • The large cost of resources to fully masterwork all of the armor before having to do it all again.

While sunsetting weapons means that most weapons will last for about a year before sunsetting, sunsetting armor and seasonal limitations with mods means that many pieces of my armor sets are constantly being sunset almost every season. Plus, it costs A LOT more resources to masterwork armor than weapons. If this armor system stays in place, it will limit players willingness to invest in masterworking their armor, which means they will have fewer opportunities to create builds and experience the new mods, which Bungie has spent a lot of time creating.

Bungie, please consider updating your armor system so that it encourages more players to invest in builds and masterworking armor. Players will enjoy playing with these builds a lot more than constantly grinding for armor sets. For example, here are three suggested improvements:

    • If a mod is currently available, then it should be able to be used on any armor piece assuming it has the correct affinity. If you want to sunset mods, then I think that's fine, but if the mod is currently available, then there should not be seasonal limitations.
    • Significantly decrease the cost to masterwork armor
    • All armor drops that occur should last for more than the current season (preferably a year). I've had multiple armor drops from the open world that have had good stat distributions but will be sunset after this season. The initial excitement that I got from those drops was immediately ruined by the power limitations, which is not a feeling that players should be experiencing if you want them to be more invested in the game.

I'm sure that other players have more effective and nuanced suggestions for improvements, but I strongly believe that the current system needs to change. I want to invest in the systems and mechanics that Bungie has created, but I feel actively discouraged by the current armor system. I'm open to other suggestions for improvement as well.

Oh Malfeasance, how I wish your catalyst would have showed up this season being a taken dungeon and having taken spec on my other weapons and all :(

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 10:48 AM PDT

What's the deal with catalysts? I feel like they should come in waves no? Like, maybe 3 per season?

Bungie please remove the RNG from the sleeper nodes on Mars before the destination gets vaulted.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 10:23 PM PDT

Im at 37 out of 40 nodes and Ive been actively trying to complete this triumph for over a year. 40 nodes is enough of a grind without the RNG. Just let me be done with this. Please.

Destiny 2 is so consistent when it comes to making everything look so nice. The art team is truly talented.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 01:06 AM PDT

So Destiny 2 is not always completely stable when it comes to balancing and bugs but man does everything always look nice. All the locations, the trailers, the cutscenes, the raids, and especially the new dungeon look so nice. The art team is by far the most consistent part of Destiny 2 when it comes to amazing content. Even if something doesn't work it still is visually stunning.

Honestly, how many more times do we have to complain about non-shaderable areas on armor?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 07:16 AM PDT

The new Moonfang set looks awesome, except for the non-shaderable pastel yellow stripe running through the chest piece that doesn't take shaders and clashes with most aesthetics. Why? How many times have we consistently complained about this? It's seriously getting old.

Stop adding areas that can't be shaded to items.

Ada-1 Research Frames can give Augmented Arrival-marked weapons.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 05:39 PM PDT

So you may not know this, but the Black Armory Research Frames (Vanguard, Dreaming City, Gambit, etc.; the blue ones at the bottom) are Augmented weapons that drop with an extra perk selection in the third column.

If you're lucky enough to get a weapon from that loot pool that has been updated for Season of Arrivals, it'll be the newer version (light cap 1360 rather than 1060) and still have the extra perk.

Not the most efficient thing to do, but figured it might be worth knowing. My new Main Ingredient for proof: https://i.imgur.com/hcVvvPT.png

Not gonna lie but, isn’t changing Hawkmoon’s perk “luck in the chamber” basically taking away why the gun was used?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 09:57 AM PDT

Now that I think of it, people used hawkmoon mostly because of the lucky bullets that could sometimes stack into 1 and destroy people with it. After the stream of them (Bungie) talking about the gun, my smile went away when they said "it won't have luck in the chamber or anything damaged based". The gun is nostalgic, too nostalgic, tbh, everybody who played D1 can't argue that even if you didn't use it, it had some space in your heart. But taking one of the main perks of the gun is like removing rapid fire from Last Word or taking the venom from Thorn.

Ace of spades is another story, it may have been from D1, but it wasn't as nostalgic as the Holy Trinity of Handcannons.

Let me know what do you think about this change to the gun, I, personally, don't like the idea of it being change that way, or adding the same perk but with a different name. If the new perk is related to range and/or stability, wouldn't it basically be First Curse?

For the longest time, I said the best character in Destiny was Cayde. With this Season, I think I'd have to give that title to Eris

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 04:00 PM PDT

If you've read the Lorebook, 'The Man They Called Cayde,' it's easy to see why Cayde was such a revered character in Destiny lore. Sure, whenever we interacted with him, he was this lighthearted jokester who knew his way around weapons. But when you got to actually look into his thoughts, you could see that he was actually contemplative, fiercely loyal, and brave to the end.

Cayde had his faults. But he was genuinely good. And what made him so standout was how much he really tried to be good, all the way to the end. The problems the Destiny universe has faced lately are often harder to deal with because the very Heart of the Vanguard isn't there anymore. There's a reason every Hunter doesn't even want to try to fill that void.

Enter Year 3. Essentially, it's been the Year of Eris when you look at the lore. For once being that Weirdo Guardian with no Ghost who no one was sure we could actually trust, Eris is probably one of the very best Guardians that's ever been.

Look at our Goth Girl. She lost all her closest friends to horrors of the Hive, was trapped in a veritable underground Hell, escaped by pure chance and had little else in life to live for but revenge- for years. Shadowkeep brought all those horrid memories back to her, in a painfully clear way that she couldn't ignore. And yet here she is. Still standing, finding a way to be at pace with her past, and even though she's among the most at-risk of us all, she's relentlessly brave to the point of insanity.

Out of all the characters in Destiny, I don't know if anyone's suffered as much as Eris. She has every reason to hate the Traveler for what she's endured. Yet there she is, pushing back against the Pyramids with all her might. And despite that hard, outward appearance, she's more hopeful than anyone else in the belief that we will win in the end.

It's been fun to be part of, and bear witness to, Eris' growth. From someone who lived only for revenge to one who risks life so that others may live, she's had one helluva character arc. I really do hope she makes it to the end.

    I think she deserves that.

Are you 1050+ and having trouble deciding on what Pinnacle activity to do? Want to get the most out of all your Pinnacle AND Powerful Drops, yes both are still relevant. Then here is a Pinnacle Calculator to help you navigate which activities you would want to do.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 09:22 PM PDT

I figured I should post this as soon as possible since the season had barely begun.

    Google Sheets: Pinnacle Calculator 2.0.1

How to make a copy for your own use: Open Sheets, go to 'File' (alt+F), and click on 'Make a copy' (c).

How to use: (there is also a guide inside the spreadsheet)
    1. Just input your highest light gear into the designated spaces, like so, and watch the magic happen.

Pinnacle Sources is just to help track your weekly activities (also manual input).

Here are sample scenarios: (they are displayed in the spreadsheet)

    1. Your Hunter is 1051. 'Powerful Drop' and 'Hunter' is green and 'class' in that category is also green. Getting a Powerful Cloak will make your Hunter 1052 without wasting a Pinnacle source. Now your Pinnacles (+2) drop at 1054 instead of wasting it for a 1053 drop.
    2. Your Titan is 1051. 'Pinnacle (+1) then Powerful Drop' has a green 'Helmet', ' Gauntlets', 'Leg', and 'Class' under it. Do 3 Playlist Strikes, that Pinnacle (+1) drops 1052 Mark. You then do a Powerful Drop and it's a 1051 Helmet. Congratulations, your Titan is now 1052 without spending a Pinnacle (+2) source.
    3. Your Warlock is 1052. You already have a 1054 Helmet. You do a Pinnacle (+2) activity. It drops a 1054 Helmet. You curse Bungo for the RNG. It has little to do with raising light but this calculator can also tell which slot you don't want that drop on.

Disclaimer: Designed for the Pinnacle Band (1050-1060) and for 3 characters of different classes (Hunter, Warlock, & Titan) but will work with 1 or 2 characters. Could work for multiple of the same classes i.e 2 Hunters but you will have to tinker with it yourself.

If you are confused on how this works, feel free to ask away. Any feedback will be of help.

PS: I wish I could make it automated by using Bungie API but I don't even have an idea on how to do that.

    The future of Destiny (satire)

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 05:23 AM PDT

It is the year 2050, I download my pre-ordered collectors edition Destiny expansion titled Destiny: Return of the Traveller's grandfather and his adopted Hive acolyte.

It comes with the season pass of course and I immediately recieve the seasonal exotic, Zavala's Baseball Bat, a caster frame sword that can one shot anyone in pvp without ammo because it's exotic perk is "Common Sense: why do swords need ammunition, shouldn't they need a whetstone instead?"

Of course free-to-play players can also choose to grind it out through an exotic quest as seasonal exotics are no longer part of the free pass, it is instead replaced with not one, not two but THREE exotic sparrows with randomly generated perks. And some glimmer but nobody knows what glimmer is for anymore.

The exotic quest steps are as follows

Listen to all 55 lines of unique vendor voicelines in the Tower , can be done as a fireteam.

Defeat two opponents rapidly with melee kills and then emote at a teammate 20 times in the crucible

Kill every single ad in a gambit match with a grenade launcher

Complete a 100k point nightfall strike while mourning the loss of a 3-month old hamster, also counts for other rodents.

And last but not least complete 1000 hourly vanguard bounties from Zavala

I run through my hourly gunsmith bounty of having to land a precision kill with a rocket launcher, good thing my daily gunsmith bounty is to complete one hourly gunsmith bounty.

My light level is 2.6 million but the legendary world engrams still drop 750 about 67% of the time so I consider myself lucky. It's a good thing my artifact's artifact's artifact's guardian's artifact's artifact is maxed out.

I chance upon new light players from the olden days still waiting for a forge saboteur to spawn so they can forge their first black armory weapon, what they don't know is that the black armory has been vaulted and they must wait till exactly 369 seconds pass at 0000 hours on the weekly reset for it to spawn for a mere 15 seconds on a random planet.

I run the new dungeon which consists of having to play tag with taken thrall until you summon a hive god and then you must reinstall the game while clicking your screen in a clockwise manner until the download is over. That's it. That's the whole dungeon. I open the chest and to my surprise I get a piece of blue gear, 750.

I close the game and cry myself to sleep.

I can't wait to play Destiny again tomorrow.

Edit: Damn, thanks for the love everybody! Hopefully this never comes to fruition.

Bungie if you’re going to make events revolving around collecting motes please make sure they can’t fall under the map.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 07:05 AM PDT

    Title.

Edit: This is mostly about the dungeon. My team and I ran into spots where we would kill a knight and most if not all the motes dropped beneath the floor and were unable to be retrieved. I found that most of the time it happened on uneven surfaces. It wasn't gamebreaking by any means and we were able to work around it, but it made fights longer and more annoying than they should have been.

Sunsetting of armor is going to make endgame build crafting so much more shallow.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 02:01 AM PDT

The thing most people touch on when calling out armor sunsetting is the cost to masterwork the pieces. and while I agree that is a big part of the problem it ties in with something not enough people are talking about which is the depth of build crafting from season of Dawn and onward.

For an example; before season of dawn if you were a Warlock and wanted to have a lot of grenades you would have impact induction and a shitload of discipline mods. Now you could make an actually interesting build based around charging yourself with light through any of the various means and then regaining some grenade energy with every throw letting you throw even more grenades. This is such an interesting idea and its so great searching for ways to synergize different mods from different seasons armors.

Taking this away will bring us back to the days of simple builds with nothing interesting in them.

As it stands right now light level is nothing more than a barrier to entry for content and unless something changes there is no point in having an RPG aspect in the game. (Specifically PvE)

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 01:29 AM PDT

I just got done playing World of Warcraft then decided to finish the night off with some Destiny 2. Well mid-way during the daily "heads on" quest or whatever it's called I started thinking.

What's the point of leveling up my light level.

There are only 2 times when your light level matters and that is if the enemies is higher or when content is locked off by a light level barrier to enter. My point is at the moment in Destiny being higher than your enemy in light level doesn't matter because you don't do any extra damage and you don't take any less damage but let the shoe be on the other foot and you can't even DAMAGE the enemy without getting an annoying immune proc.

Now with the revelation that we are sunsetting entire planets to make room for future content I have to ask. Is there a point in having the scaling system anymore? If you go to an area that's too strong for you then you get demolished anyways go to an area that should be a cake walk and you don't feel like you've gotten any stronger than when you started playing the game.

When you think of it in that light it becomes very demoralizing and erases my motivation for grinding up my light level once I've unlocked the most recent content. This is especially true as a mainly PvE player.

Instead of scaling can we just have set light level ranges on planets with 1 or 2 planets being higher than the max achievable light level to keep the challenging areas for the people who enjoy min maxing their builds.

Side Note: If we are higher than an enemies light level by a lot we should be able to demolish them and the boat they rode in on.

tl;dr: Light level scaling is pointless and should be removed from the game. Instead we should replace it with set light level ranges per planet.

Edit: Thanks for the gold stranger.

Let our character be able to hold our energy and power weapons on our character screen.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 08:08 PM PDT

I know a lot of people see trials as the best of the best, and that it shouldn't cater to lower rank players. But I also see it repeatedly pointed out that trials population is really low. The only way the population is going to increase quickly is if it's more inviting to a slightly wider skillset.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 04:28 PM PDT

Let me preface this by saying I understand trials is endgame, it needs people to understand that and people need to go in expecting it to be tough and learn to strengthen their skills.

However, trials populations are not great, and they're not going to go up very quickly if the gamemode doesn't feel more inviting to more people. It shouldn't be for people who rarely ever touch crucible, however, there should be a place for people who can consistently do well in comp. Yet I know so many people who do consistently well in comp but constantly get stomped on in trials and it puts them off trials. Should people like that be able to go flawless? No not without practice, but there absolutely should be a place for them in trials.

Is there any reason why for instance wins 1-3 couldn't be based on SKBMM combined with card status and then wins 4-7 are purely card based? In things like Wimbledon or the FA Cup or various sporting competitions you have seeds. In the very early stages of the competition if you're super low ranked you cannot face a top seed. However once you get to a certain stage in the competition that goes away and you could come up against anyone. Right now Trials often feels like I'm a semi-pro tennis player constantly pitched against Roger Federer in my first game.

Personally speaking I also do not mind waiting longer for a game if that game feels fairer and they've had better chance to find a game that matches me up with someone whos also on a losing streak. 3 times this evening I was on a 0-2 card and came up against opponents who were on 10+ winstreaks. I understand why card based matchmaking is the way trials should be, but its situations like the one I just mentioned that turn a lot of people off and that the system doesn't account for. If I'm on a 7 game losing streak I really don't think I should be coming up against someone on a 10 game winning streak.

The perk that makes shaders drop with every umbral engram decode is annoying and should be replaced or removed after getting all the new shaders.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2020 07:52 AM PDT

You should never get duplicate shaders from any source since you can just buy them. Really silly perk that puts me in my menu dismantling stuff even more.

Like an auto blue dismantle button, a duplicate shader delete should also be a thing.

In my opinion, you should get 6 of a new shader on first drop and then never see it again as a drop.
