Focused Feedback: Transmog Expectations and Discussion

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 07:38 AM PDT

    Hello Guardians,

This week we wanted to do something different. This thread will act as an idea and discussion thread of the wants, don't wants and overall breakdown of what we know so far about the upcoming Transmog system.

This topic has been apart of Bungie Plz for the better part of 5 years and we wanted to bring this discussion back into the fold in the form of this Feedback thread so please share your thoughts here.

We do FF in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Transmog is still a retired suggestion and apart of Bungie Plz. Posts regarding Transmog will be removed and directed to this FF thread. Please use this as a platform to discuss the mechanic and what it may bring to the world of Destiny

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Sunsetting is not going to work long term

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 04:50 PM PDT

Aztecross Said it best in his recent video linked here https://youtu.be/zSCidJA5Ml4
Maybe it would be better if it was treated like the taken king sunsetting, so there isnt always a timer on our gear. But right now having these not appealing role on weapons that are suppose to replace our god teir guns then it will fail.

Bungie, ignoring all the other controversy with sunsetting, WHAT IS THE POINT IN SUNSETTING LEGENDARY ARMOR?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 04:56 PM PDT

Seriously, me using a high-stat rolled helmet from year 2, has no more impact on the state of the game than using Armor from this season. Also, when you consider how many materials I have all but wasted in master working Armor; it really just seems like a needless headache. If anything, it would make more sense to sunset exotic Armor: at least they actually have unique perks. Speaking as a solo PvP player whom it took AGES to get enhancement prisms let alone a shard, please reconsider this.

    Edit:typos

When season 12 comes and destinations get vaulted please don’t take a year to change catalyst acquirement methods like you did with Sunshot.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 05:16 AM PDT

For those who don't know, Sunshots catalyst was unobtainable for OVER A YEAR because it was originally obtained from Faction Rallies.

Bungie please change the method to acquire and complete catalysts for Legend of Acrius, Skyburner's Oath, Telesto, Izanagi's Burden, Whisper of the Worm, Sleeper Simulant, Worldline Zero, Bad Juju, Ace of Spades, Outbreak Perfected, Thorn and Polaris Lance.

Edit: Added a few more exotics that were originally not listed.

Edit 2: Added exotics to the list that are obtained from quests for getting the weapon itself, such as Ace of Spades and Thorn.

Its been 272 days since D2 came to steam. Can we get working clan rosters?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 01:23 PM PDT

Pretty much title. I would love to see if my clan is on and not just my friends. It makes syncing up with the clan a bit difficult, especially among former console players who haven't mastered discord (or even worked it into their flow of playing).

The Tower should be ON FIRE right now.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 09:54 AM PDT

Last season, there were a few good points made about how people in Destiny should react to the threat of the Almighty. Future War Cult should have been directing the bulk of their firepower at the Almighty should Rasputin fail. Dead Orbit should have peaced out off the planet surface before we could even SEE the Almighty. New Monarchy should have been prepping for a large influx of injury and refugees. Yet none of that was happening.

Now, we have a Pyramid sitting on Io. We're going to be witnessing a second Pyramid above Titan. We're going to be evacuating Io, Titan, Mercury, and Mars. The Darkness is HERE.

Yet once again, the Factions are doing next to nothing. Hideo should be absolutely shitting his pants at the fact that a second Collapse is coming real soon. Lakshmi should have the cult running nonstop simulations, potentially working with Osiris with the Infinite Forest and his Reflections. Dead Orbit should have been gone, months ago before the Darkness parked in our system.

I get the limitations, I really do, but it just doesn't make sense from any kind of lore aspect and really destroys what the factions were supposed to be all about.

If you go to Rasputin's Mindlab on Mars, he's still in there, sparkling and healthy, and in no way looks like he went down like a punk.

GM Nightfalls should reward you with weapons that have an intrinsic champion perk.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 05:21 PM PDT

This will allow you to free up your mod slot for something else or even run with two different champion perks/mods on the same weapon. Basically Adept weapons for dealing with champions, making GM nightfalls a little easier. I'm just throwing this idea out there, let me know what you think.

If you find yourself constantly saying "I hate Warlock Jump" hop in here and learn how to use it.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 05:47 PM PDT

Tl;Dr - The faster your press "jump" the second time, the higher you'll go. If you're falling slowly, glide will push you toward the ground. If you're falling quickly, glide will catch you in midair. Go test it.

every jump ABILITY has a charge.

Hunters, you get one or two, and they're immediately expended.

Warlocks have the longest charge, but the charge can only regenerate by standing on the ground. and cancelling your jump costs charge. The maximum times you can activate glide without touching the ground is 3, and the last one will be just a little puff.

Titan's jump ability passively recharges at all times. If you could find a spot high enough, you could use lift, burn it out, fall, then use it again to slow yourself. On a warlock you would simply crash.

    Background

I play all 3, but was 'lock main for pretty much all of D1. During D1 vanilla i HATED the jump, That is until I spent about an hour learning the ins and outs of how the jump worked, and why it felt so much worse that Titan's.

    ------------------------

How You Should Think About The Jump Abilities is important.

Here's the first part people get fundamentally wrong about understanding how to properly the ability.

The only class that can jump more than once without touching the ground, is the Hunter.

    --------------------

Hunter - When you press 'Jump' while airborne, your hunter will effectively "jump" the same as if it just was on flat ground. Everyone understands this.

Titans - Lift feels nice, because it always adds the same amount of upward force to your titan, akin to turning on a jetpack.

Catapult Lift, works as though you're one of those science fair rockets, a controlled explosion of lift that burns out quickly. (Think Ironman with every one of his repulsors pointing downward, and firing at max power immediately.)

Strafe Lift - Works as though you're like Iron man in a T pose, and he can move his arms around for great lateral movement.

High lift - Very controlled slow burn but mostly vertical, so same postion as the first jump, but not firing at max power.

(i.e. Lift is a built in jetpack)

    --------------------------------

    WARLOCKS

Warlocks, fly using like birds, in that they enhance your current trajectory by adding a great amount of velocity.

When you imagine a normal jumping arch, depending on where you are in that arch will get you the best results. (with one exception)

Beginning of arch, you're building your glide pattern off of the most vertical part of your jump. think of it this way, as soon as your feet leave the ground from a jump, you're already accelerating toward the ground but the force of you jumping is greater than the acceleration force of gravity on you for a bit, so you keep going up, while simultaneously slowing down.

Eventually you'll reach a point where all the force of your jump, is balanced out by gravity, so you are no longer elevating or descending for an instant (that's the apex of your jump, the highest point.)

Then you return to the ground, speeding up until you land. the amount of height you get, is based on how much speed you have when you activate glide.

    ---------------------------

    Example.

    A jump goes

liftoff-> slow down -> stop (apex) -> speed up -> land

Assume the time from you leaving to landing is one second.

That would put your apex at .5 seconds

When I say warlock jump uses your current velocity, it means this.

if you were to activate glide .1 second after liftoff, you'll go higher than if you activated it at .2. which in turn would go higher than .3, .3 than .4 and on point 5. you'll kind of float without much lift, and a small descent.

i.e. TO GO HIGHER PRESS THE BUTTONS FASTER. (go try it, I'll wait.)

if you are falling in a speed that's slower than you are going just before you land, activating glide will actually speed you up toward the ground.

if you're falling faster than the speed you'd be going when you landed from a regular single jump, then glid will catch you, and you'll stop falling temporarily.

Go ahead, try it out on Nessus. Jump off of the tower, and activate glide when you're about 10 meters off the ground. You'll stop falling where you are abruptly.

Try it on a titan, you'll be falling to quickly for your "jetpack" to keep up, and you'll barely slow before crashing into the ground.

Trinity Ghoul went from 0 to Hero in One Season with a Catalyst - Bungie Please Do Tarrabah Next!

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 06:35 AM PDT

We know from guns like Lord of Wolves, Symmetry and Lumina that the Ravenous Beast perk can be made to stay when putting Tarrabah away - considering that Tarrabah is not only an Exotic, but also a Raid Exotic it's honestly a no-brainer that they progress shouldn't be reset when switching weapons.

Taking into account the imminent sun setting of the Recluse and the introduction of Armour Champion Mods that can be applied to Exotics, Tarrabah has a decent chance of becoming useful in high-end PvE content with this simple change. Considering it's rarity and difficulty to acquire, making this gun good would be a great piece of aspirational content for people to attempt to get by running Crown of Sorrows.

Please make Tarrabah more than just a 'fun option' the same way Trinity Ghoul once was.

It really sucks going from having a blast farming 1080 nightfalls, and running grandmaster nighfalls with friends, to having to wait a month to do the same content.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 08:34 AM PDT

The leveling system in this game is complete garbage. Being light level gated out of content that I was previously able to do is not fun. I always dread the beginning of new seasons, because I know all of my grinding will be made irrelevant, and I'll have to replay the same shitty old activities AGAIN to get my light level up. I'm sick of doing the same bounties week after week after week because it's the only way to get my light level up efficiently. And if you choose to ignore bounties for even just a week so you can play normally and have fun, you're far behind everybody else.

I'm not a streamer, I don't have 10-15 hours a day to play, I can't get a +20 power bonus in the first week and reach 1060 base.

Fine Matterweaves should be replaced by Enhancement Cores.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 03:24 AM PDT

Suggestion as title. As I understand it, the only use for a Fine Matterweave is to use it in inventory to get a buff that adds an Enhancement Core to the loot table until a core drops. Wouldn't it make more sense to just drop the core as the dismantling reward and skip the redundant steps in the inventory? Or is there some hidden use to the weaves that I don't know about?

The more I play with Temptation’s Hook and Falling Guillotine, the more I wish that Bungie should’ve brought back the Passive Guard class item mod this season.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 04:54 PM PDT

A new season with 2 new swords and the passive guard mod is not in the seasonal artifact.

It would've fit perfectly with this season.

Patrol chests should have better loot in them to actually make us want to open them...

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 11:30 AM PDT

Nothing like going into a patrol area and finding a chest just for it to drop a tiny bit of glimmer, some planetary material and a blue.

I get not giving them powerful loot but in D1 they had some rare schematics for ships that could be hunted and farmed for and those ships used to be some of my favorite looking ships.

If they were given some ship schematics for each of the planets, planetary ghosts with random rolls and maybe a rare shader for each too, it would actually make them usable (at least for short term).

Maybe adding some consumables and mods that make them worth while too? Idk but atm they're just useless and redundant.

Edit: yes, cosmetics should be in activities too, same problem thats been repeated by every player since the games release but thats never gonna happen unless its through eververse. Still doesn't solve this simple mechanic that has been in the game from the start and has sucked and hasn't gotten better at all.

Exotic armor should be able to take all seasonal armor mods

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 12:07 PM PDT

Since the majority of Y2 armors are getting sunset, that means most of the Y2 armor mods are getting phased out as well. Enemy barrier mods, armaments mods, invigoration mods and repurposing mods are all going to be out of endgame builds. And due to sunsetting, the Y4 mods will eventually get phased out if endgame too. Since exotic armors aren't getting sunset anytime soon, and they can't take any seasonal mods, why not let all seasonal mods have a place on exotic armors? It allows people to have an armor piece for any mod they want, which helps with builds and it won't harm the game at all. It also allows you to use exotics in builds like Warmind Cell builds or Charged With Light builds without the exotic being a potential hindrance to your build idea

I can't wait for Bungie to either nerf swords because "They want other heavy weapons to shine" or just make it so that upcoming bosses are in the air/far away/ any other BS mechanic makes grinding / progressing feel like a slog.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 03:59 PM PDT

You know either one or the other is gonna happen; so lets place bets on which! Winners gets one of the material consumables from the Eververse. There is also the option that they instead just let people enjoy the weapons they want to use but ever since Shadowkeep they have pretty much gave us a long term no on that. Nightfalls now feel like Year 1 Prestige Leviathan runs with how champion mods work, and despite the fact that people were going to play old playlist/ old content anyway bungie has still made sure that in order for us to do new content without feeling like story missions are day 1 raids we have to grind the old content.

I Love and hate bungie at the same time.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 06:55 PM PDT

And I swung my sword one too many times. I took myself off the platform I was damaging the boss on. Being a well lock, I tried to float with the grenade, but I was just too far gone. I died as my body was teleported in to the Emissary room, and I did not receive the flawless triumph or emblem.

Lesson to learn; even though the adrenaline might urge you to swing one more time "just in case" make sure and trust your damage, and even risk another cycle for your safety.

An hour lost, but not wasted. I have learned and I will be back with a vengeance. After some snacks.

The Biggest Issue w/ Sunsetting that nobody has seemed to mention...

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 06:02 PM PDT

    It hasn't even happened yet.

Yes, I understand that the rage nowadays at r/DTG is to just instantly flame every post that doesn't agree w/ "sunsetting is bad" but hear me out.

    1. We have people already freaking out this season over The Gnawing Hunger and a few other weapons (rightfully so) being RE-ISSUED w/ the same perks but higher light levels.

This plays directly into the narrative of "This is EXACTLY what we KNEW would happen with sunsetting and NOBODY listened to us!" EXCEPT they are missing a very VITAL piece of information. None of those weapons were ever actually sunset. Not a single one of them. They were just reissued into the world loot engram. Bungie has also already admitted that this season would be awkward w/ some weapons due to the current mix of both the old and the new system but come September things will fall into place and make more sense. Also, to my knowledge both of the CM's have expressed understanding of the communities desire to "infuse" old version of weapons into the new versions light etc IF the same roll is available and have passed that feedback onto the proper team.

We have gone through a "sunset" phase every few years in Destiny and every single time before they never told us it was happening. They just dropped it on us. This time around they gave us clear time frames for how long things would be relevant for and have given us much easier ways to farm for things in respect to us grinding for specific rolls etc.

    1. Bungie has ALREADY proven this season that they are 100% capable of making new and exciting weapons / perks for us. Witherhold is an incredible exotic, the new exotic trace rifle looks insane and all of new Recepter weapons have insane potential for perk sets that don't require us to fall back on "outlaw kill clip etc".

The community had the same knee jerk reaction weapon Armor 2.0 AND the artifact came out and look what happened? We are now capable of some absolutely nasty builds that wouldn't have been possible in 1.0 due to armor mods and seasonal mods.

Is there reason to be worried/anxious about the implementation of sunsetting? Absolutely.

Is there a reason to lambaste Bungie and say things like "you don't care about this game/you're killing this game". Absolutely not.

    Does Bungie make mistakes? Absofuckinglutely

But guess what Bungie also does, more often than not. Creates amazing experiences that are unrivaled in nearly every game that's ever come out.

This community LOVES to sit here an act like Bungie is the worst thing thats ever happened to video games and that Destiny is just this massive pile of dog shit, when in reality its far from that.

They have stated that this needs to happen on a yearly basis so that they can create unique and powerful weapons w/ out having to worry about balancing content around certain weapons, forever. If we went with the communities knee jerk response of "just make better perks than kill clip and outlaw/rampage/swashbuckler" we would hit such insane levels of power creep that every single new thing in the game would be like the reckoning. Then guess what would happen? The community would complain that stuff is too difficult.

They showed have CONSISTENTLY showed us w/ every single major expansion that they are capable of continuously upping the game and nailing nearly every aspect of what they are launching. We have every single right to hold Bungie to a ridiculously high caliber and standard but we can't sit here and act like all they ever do is make mistakes.

I know this might be the craziest thing you've ever heard but why don't we for ONCE as a community, allow things to actually be launched in full and experience something before we absolutely shit on Bungie.

I know this will be downvoted into oblivion but I feel like it had to be said.

The upgrade economy is all out of whack.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 07:45 AM PDT

We have four upgrade materials, listed from most valuable to least, along with the most you can hold in your inventory:

    1. Ascendant Shards (10)
    2. Enhancement Prisms (50)
    3. Upgrade Modules (25)
    4. Enhancement Cores (no limit)

Enhancement (then Masterwork) cores used to be really rare outside of raiding. Now they are pretty common. The new system was likely introduced because a lot of players had a TON of these.

Upgrade modules are 1:1 with enhancement cores, except they require some glimmer and some planetary materials. These seem pretty useless and kind of filler IMO. They seemed like they were introduced so it only took one material to infuse, but instead of paying it at infusion time, we have to do bounties for them or go to the gunsmith (and potentially spider) before doing it. I hope they rethink this currency.

Enhancement prisms cost 10 enhancement cores and other materials. They are used to get gear to the higher levels (not highest). They are only obtained from running nightfalls or dismantling masterworked gear.

Ascendant shards cost 10 enhancement prisms. They are only obtained from master nightfalls. It costs one to fully masterwork legendary gear and 3 to masterwork an exotic. So, one of these costs a bunch of planetary materials, a bunch of glimmer and 100 enhancement cores. You cannot stockpile them either.

Not only is this system super confusing and makes you hit two vendors (if you include spider for the insane amount of mats you need to do that at any scale that matters) or grind one specific activity, it really only rewards one type of activity. What also shows is that running one master nightfall and getting lucky with them is more valuable than playing dozens of hours to obtain a similar amount of enhancement cores/glimmer/planetary mats.

There should be exclusive guns for pinnacle activities. There should be exclusive gear for pinnacle activities. There should be a higher chance and a reliable way to get exotics with good rolls on them, and the nightfall is cool there. There shouldn't be exclusive materials for pinnacle activities and a crazy economy that choice necessitated.

Trinity Ghoul should be the standard for Catalysts / Masterworks moving forward

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 08:17 AM PDT

I know it's been said a ton but the Trinity Ghoul with the catalyst is phenomenal. It's honestly a totally different gun and if you don't have it. Get it lol.

THIS Bungie is what we want to see in a catalyst. Things like + a stat or + a vanilla perk are lazy and boring.

Even if the catalyst doesn't make the gun unbelievable it should still be a unique positive change to the gun and how it is used.

There are still many guns out there that folks can't wait to see what the catalyst is. I truly hope many aren't just filled in with junk. Even if it means waiting a little longer for cool perks to be developed.
