    Trials of Osiris are LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

Bungie, it might be good to re-evaluate pass changes during the time when auto-reload was popular in the game.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 04:48 PM PDT

During this time, several sandbox changes were made when auto-reload was very popular and influenced the endgame meta. These changes included LMG damage was reduced to bosses, Box breathing for snipers and the damage adjustment to cluster rockets, and maybe a few more that I can not recall.

The state of the game isn't in the same state now as it was back then and it would be good to re-evaluate changes to see if they can return to an older state or receive buffs.

When you get the best piece of armor you have ever seen to drop from a prime engram, but realize the max power limit is 1060. Hurts me deep, real deep.

Just got a noble constant for my titan with

+30 recovery (40 with the recovery mod)

    +14 discipline

    +15 intellect

Total of a 65 roll with the other stats.

    I teared up a little when I saw the 1060 max....oof

Encountering groups that only run Ruinous Effigy and Witherhoard in altar or anywhere is such a glorious shitfest

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 06:53 AM PDT

It's like entering into an alternate realm of sfx, it's an uno reverse card to every ground based boss and redbar in existence. Oppressive darkness, devour, Ruinous Effigy and Nezarec build is some of the most fun i've ever had in D2. This game always manages to get me in a better mood.

Can We Have Trace Rifle Mods Now?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:11 AM PDT

With the release of Ruinous Effigy can we get some trace rifle specific mods. As of now there is no scavenger, no ammo finder, and no targeting mods for Trace rifle. And for the mods it does get it has to share them with auto rifles (Reloading, and Unflinching). Just hoping to get some more support for my favorite gun type since Prometheus Lens.

I am a PvE player who's bad at PvP going for moments of triumph 7 Trial wins. I sat before my PC for 6 hours, here's the result.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 07:25 PM PDT

    Screenshot of my match history

    • Total Match played: 38
    • Lose: 31
    • Win: 7 (I got the triumph)
    • Win ratio: 18%
    • Length: 6 Hours
    • K/D: 0.59
    • Sanity: Vaporized

Q: Did you encounter any hackers?

A: Nope, not that I am aware of. There was one match where enemy popped 7 or 8 headshots with a revoker and bodyshot rest of the mag, but doesn't feel like a hacker.

Q: Players pool is suppose to be diluted because many cannon fodders will join Trials for the triumph. Is it true? Does it make Trials easier and feel more winnable for you?

A: Not really, out of 38 matches, only 4 of enemy teams are made up from 3 different clans or no clans, the rest are either all from same clan or 2 from the same clan. Also, I got matched against the same clan twice in a row. This may have something to do with my timezone, so I am not jumping to any conclusion here.

Q: What lesson did you take away?

A: Watch out for Wings of Sacred Dawn, they often float around at edge of the map in the middle. Also, having a good sniper able to assert dominance at middle gives me a sense of safety.

Q: What kind of loadout did you use to lose 31 matches?

A: Jotunn, can't get kills without it.

Q: You lost 31 matches, are you just bad or are the enemies too good?

    A: Yes

Q: Did you enjoy this 6 hours?

    A: You tell me

Q: Why don't you wait until Solstice Armor comes out, and knock out both Trial Triumph and Solstice Armor masterwork at the same time?

A: I don't want to give myself excuses. Had I tell myself "Hey, you know what, forget about triumph for now, you can knock out both Trial Triumph and Solstice Armor masterwork at the same time later this season", I will probably get more and more scared of Trials, because deep down I know "kill two birds with one stone" is not the reason why I don't want to touch trials today, this week, this month. So I forced myself into trials today.

That is all, I need a break.

Edit: I checked my match history it says 6 hours

    Edit2: Sacred

Just a quick heads up for anyone trying to farm the acrius catalyst or any other catalyst that drops from raids. I’ve had it confirmed from a Bungie employee they aren’t currently ‘farm-able’ but they are looking into it. Tweet included in text post.

Action War Rig should work with trace rifles.

Action War Rig should work with trace rifles. All the auto rifle perks work on trace rifles so therefore, I think it would make sense that Actium War Rig should work with trace rifles.

Preselected loot for trials is deterring players from playing.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:09 AM PDT

There's some good stuff in Trials, there's also a lot of stuff that no one has any desire to grind for. If the loot was random for first drop, then subsequent drops came from your unlocked loot pool (like we see with Prophecy), that would definitely encourage me to play a lot more often than I do.

Right now, many people are deterred from playing until they know they can get the shotgun/auto rifle at 3-wins, which keeps the loot pool small enough to grind those.

Edit: a lot of you are bringing up the cheating, which is definitely a problem as well especially with the low population of trials. The loot isn't the only problem, it's just one factor that likely has a quicker solution than the cheating.

We are extremely powerful right now in a great way. Just ran Altars of Sorrow, wave 1 through 5 in about 10 minutes lol. Witherhoard, R.E., F.Guillotine, and charged with light/lucent blade. Holy hell. This is MUCH better than the year 2 M.Top/Recluse spam everywhere.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 01:07 PM PDT

These exotics allow guardians to work together and build off of each others' builds. Orbs and light everywhere. I have a feeling the weapons and armor next season are going to be great and look awesome. Dam it I can't wait.

    Great job spongy Bungie!

If you stick an invader with witherhoard just before they run out of time, they will take it with them when they return to their side. This can heal primeval.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 05:04 PM PDT

Pretty much title. I know Gambit isn't in the best spot, but I was working on the Effigy quest today in Gambit and invaded. At around 2 seconds left on my timer, an enemy stuck me with witherhoard. I wound up taking it with me as I returned to my side. It killed me, than healed the primeval. Just barely lost the round because of this, idk if it's a bug/glitch, just thought I'd share. Nothing game breaking or requiring it to be locked at all, just be cautious when invading if the opposing team has this.

A Solo Prophecy Guide, but it's for Hunters and it doesn't use any DLC Exotics or Raid Weapons

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 11:01 AM PDT

First things, first, apologies for the formating, am on mobile. This is my first guide here, so please forgive anything that was described vaguely.

After seeing many solo flawless guides using other classes and DLC weapons, I decided to put those strategies together, using no DLCs Exotics or Raid Weapons.

The best tip I can give you for this whole guide is to stay calm. Take deep breaths often. Learn from your mistakes, you won't get your flawless run right away(believe me, I tried many times.) Each run will help you, get comfortable with each encounter and their mechanics. Remind yourself that you are not on a time limit, there's no need to rush it.

The guides I used previously for reference were Datto's and Esoterick's.

Subclass: Nightstalker Top Tree, Bottom Tree for final boss; Gambler's Dodge for the final encounter

    GEAR

    ARMOR

Wormhusk: Concussive Dampner - x2 Grenade Launcher Finder

Feltroc's Grips(any armor with a season 8 or 7 slot works as well): Minor Resist - Fastball(I just use because it's handy, you don't need to use it) - Enhanced Grenade Launcher Loader - Hive Barrier

Simulator Vest(or any armor that can use charged with light mods): Mobility Mod - Grenade Launcher Reserves/Unflinching Sniper Aim - Protective Light

Frumious Strides(any armor w/ charged with light): Major Resist - Traction - Sword Scavenger/Bow Dexterity - Taking Charge

Prodigal Cloak(any w/ Chargrd With Light): Mobility Mod - Better Already - Opressive Darkness

This will give you around 100 Mobility, Strength should be around 50. You can also use Taken mods(Cammycakes and other people have videos on how you can get them in New Light, without having Forsaken.) Hive Refreshment also works really well through this run.

    WEAPONS

Kinetic: Witherhoard - Any Sniper for Cube

Energy: Gnawing Hunger or Any Good Short to Mid Range Weapon - The Vow(or any weapon that's better for long to mid range in the boss room)

Heavy: Falling Guillotine(done with season pass roll, any other roll will work) - A Mos Epoch III with Tracking Module and Cluster Bombs(Auto-Loading Holster works best here; for the final boss)

    STRATEGIES

    PHALANX

Start by going to the pillar on the left and keeping an eye out where a knight will spawn, shoot your Witherhoard on him, and switch to the other side to deal with the psions, one direct shot kills a knight over time. Use your Invis Dodge, grab the motes and hide in the back of the room, keep getting your Dark Motes from there. BEFORE you get all 5 motes, use your dodge, this will make sure you won't die on your way(having a dodge on the way out is always nice as well).

If the boss ever boops you off, don't hesitate to use your sword to get back, this has saved me countless times. If you happen to fall in the sphere-shaped hole, try to climb with a sword, and use your dodge the get your jump back. Also mind the rings around the arena if you get booped right after dunking the motes. You really don't wanna try the Nine Sphere Blender.

At around the 2nd or 3rd wave more psions will spawn, Witherhoard that area and keep getting motes. You can get Light Motes by going invisible before the knights die and go to the light, jumping helps you to stay in light.

When you get to the boss phase, use your heavy every time it's up, throw in a couple of Witherhoard shot for some extra dps. When the goblins spawn, use your tether and keep damaging him, take care of the goblins and try not to get overwhelmed. If you feel like you can't kill the goblins fast enough without risks, go to the back and start the next phase, repeat as many times as needed.

You can use the same loadout for the Wastelands, it works well, plus I was too lazy to switch weapons there.

    CUBE

Switch to a sniper, and put unflinching sniper aim on, just in case. An energy add-clearing exotic might work well, but I didn't use one due to wanting to try with an auto rifle. This part will take some attempts, so try to memorize spawn locations while you're going.

When you start, throw a smoke bomb or a grenade at an acolyte spawn, and use your sword on the closest spawn to you. After that, hide behind a pillar with protection against both hobgoblins and kill them. Try to be fast here to avoid more acolytes coming. Kill the knights with a sniper or a sword, according to their locations and the motes you need. Remember to be invis while you get the motes, also use it while going to the middle.

Repeat until the bosses, when you get there, just use your super and sword, maybe a grenade on the second one. If you ran out of sword ammo at that point, just snipe the boss. Mind the thrall.

    RAINBOW ROAD

Keep your current loadout, this will help against the snipers and correct any failed jumps.

I highly recommend going on foot, and killing all sniper along the way. But feel free to use your sparrow if you feel comfortable and very rarely die doing this.

Go through the floating platforms through the pyramids, remember to kill all snipers. On the larger platforms, halfway done, a group of taken will spawn in that are(A Phalanx, and a few snipers). Kill them, run past them, it's up to you.

    KELL

Switch your subclass, use bottom-tree nightstalker and gambler's dodge if you haven't been using it already. Equip Witherhoard, any long to mid range weapon(you will mainly use Witherhoard; use your energy weapon to kill the hobgoblins), and any good Rocket Launcher. Switch back to Grenade Reserves, and put on Bow Dexterity, just in case.

Stay mobile, use your smoke and dodge frequently. At the start of the encounter(s), shoot your Witherhoard on the spawns, a grenade is nice, since it recovers your smoke over time. It's the same thing as before, blight the knights, stay invis while getting motes and keep moving. The fight gets less chaotic as you take out the boss' ogres, so you can slow down a bit there.

When the ogre spawns, shoot two Witherhoard shots on the ground, use a grenade if you have it, shoot directly at the ogre as well(dodge to get back health/your melee). You can use your heavy as well, just be careful.

Kill all ogres but the last one, this will save you some ammo(unless if you already are out of ammo, then you can kill him with what you have).

On the boss room, I followed this pattern when I spawned, going through the left to the middle platform behind the boss: Witherhoard, Grenade, Rocket, Reload, Smoke. Then Witherhoard and smoke until you reach the platform behind the boss. Shoot your tether on him and on the hobgoblins, use the rest of your super on him(please be careful not to fall off). Use the blocks on the platforms as cover, when he teleports, kill the hobgoblins close to you asap. Try to stay on platforms close to the boss, minding the snipers and his teleport blast.

Keep Witherhoarding and Rocketing him, using your abilities as well(don't need to kill the last two hobs right away, just focus on him). At the end, go through the room again to pick up any ammo or orbs of light dropped.

Take deep breaths on each transition. Repeat the process as many times as you need. This method gave me 4 to 5 phases at around 1061 PL.

After all that you should be done! Enjoy your ghost, and your cool sparrow and fancy emblem when you get flawless(because I believe in you :) ).

Just remember, you will learn better from your own experience and practice. And with that, I wish you good luck on your search for the Nine.

    Please nerf Beaver

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 06:32 AM PDT

I usually stick to lurking but Beaver has gone too far. It's already hard enough to progress as a solo player in ranked crucible knowing there's a chance I'll get kicked. While that's frustrating, there's nothing more annoying than having a teammate get dropped and still losing glory for losing a 2v3 (or heaven forbid the other teammate rage quits making it 1v3). Maybe remove the glory deduction for losses when you don't have a full team? Thanks for coming to my Shaxx Talk.

P.s. maybe also drop the glory deduction for joining a loss in progress?
