- Daily Questions [2020-07-03]
- Wow. PvP population is exploding. 948k players yesterday! Officially the most popular Iron Banner in D2 history.
- Opinion: Cbmm doesn’t mean you play mlg sweats every game. You’re actually playing mostly bang average players. If pvp this season has gotten more difficult, then you weren’t as good as you thought.
- RIP Festering core. Gone too soon and easily forgotten
- What’s the song called when you’re in orbit and it’s like “oooOOOOoooOooooOooooOOOOOO”
- The umbral system would work so well with the gunsmith. Ramp up the cost it takes to get a weapon but allow us to choose from which weapon manufacturer.
- To all new players, learn Pit of Heresy as soon as possible, and then do it at least once per week.
- Why does this game have literally 0 guidance for beginners to get into the campaign?
- Would you enjoy longer Strike boss fights if it meant you get more rewards ?

Posted: 02 Jul 2020 01:49 PM PDT Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/49306 This week at Bungie, Lord Saladin has an iron grip on the Crucible. While it's only been two days since the weekly reset, our feeds have been themed to the Iron Banner. Power-enabled combat can be a tough challenge, but it's well worth the effort. This Season, The Forward path and Fool's Remedy made their return with random rolls and brand new Iron Banner perks. Some weapon specialists among you have been diving deep into perk combinations, giving recommendations on the best rolls for success. Additionally, some changes were made to our Seasonal quest offering to make these returning weapons a bit more accessible. If you haven't already, stop by Lord Saladin in the Tower to kick off your Seasonal quest, and make sure to grab your four weekly bounties to earn some Pinnacle gear as you play. A few of you also noticed that Enhanced Armor Mods have a chance to drop on match completion, so games have felt a little more rewarding. Gear up, form a fireteam, and get out there. Lord Saladin is waiting. Sub-TrainingA few months back, the official Twitch Destiny Extension was released, giving players the opportunity to showcase their builds while playing Trials of Osiris every weekend. We've been slowly building this feature and introduced bounties to earn Trials Tokens when reacting to matches. Tuesday, we introduced a new bounty which brought quite a buzz to the Destiny directory. Gifted Subs Bounty
While this bounty will be available weekly, your first completion will award you two exclusive rewards: the "Stream of Light" emblem and "Watcher's Shade" shader, each of which will be available from Amanda Holliday in the Tower. We've seen a few questions popping up on this, so let's get to some answers.
For more information about the extension, Twitch bounties, and more, visit this help article: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/48844 Soon (Tee Em)Next week, we have a celebration. Bungie Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the community, is on the calendar for next Tuesday (7/7/2020). Yes, we love sevens, but we also love YOU! We have some fun planned, but until then, here are a few things to keep you occupied as we approach the day of seven. Bungie Day Fashion Show It's no secret, we have a thing for the color blue. Slap on your favorite blue shader, grab a screenshot of your Guardian out in the worlds of Destiny 2, and tweet @Bungie with the tag #BungieDayFashionShow. We'll retweet the winners on Bungie Day proper, and grant them the "Levante Prize" emblem for their troubles. Bungie Day Art Show Fashion isn't the only thing that's on our minds. The artists of the Destiny community are some of the best, and we're excited to see what you've got. Draw your Guardian, your favorite Vanguard, most feared raid boss, or whatever your heart desires that's Destiny themed. Tweet @Bungie with the tag #BungieDayArtShow. Like the fashion show, we'll retweet winners on Bungie Day and grant winners the "Aspect of Luminance" emblem. We're excited for next Tuesday, as we love celebrating this community. Patch Note PreviewNext Tuesday, we also have a patch going live in Destiny 2. Destiny 2 Update 2.9.1 will bring a slew of bug fixes to Season of Arrivals. Here are a few items to expect:
Full patch notes will be published when we make the download available, so keep an eye on Bungie.net for more. Ground Control to YouNo matter the conditions, Player Support is at the ready to lend a helping hand. Destiny 2 Update 2.9.1 is on approach, and the team has some valuable information as it comes in for landing. This is their report.
Picture TimeLast week, Cozmo titled this section Movie Time. This week, I'm rolling with Picture Time. Why? Because it's a moving picture! This is me calling Cozmo out for using such an EASY title last week. Like, c'mon man. I'm not being mean, I'm just being real…. good with words. Also, stop yelling at me in meetings. It hurts my ears! But who cares about any of that. Here are some really cool videos that we've seen in the last week. Hope you enjoy them. Movie of the Week: Spin to Win Honorable Mention: Falling Apart So, you've been featured. You're hype. Your view count is going up, but you're left with wondering, "What's next?" Make more videos! Submit them to the Creations page. See if you can snag the elusive double feature. If you win, we'll be sending you and contributors a sweet emblem in the next week or so. Keep your eyes peeled on your Collections tab. Thanks for stopping by for another week of Destiny news. My fingers are itching to get back in to the Iron Banner, but we have a few hours of the workday to get through. The feedback never stops, and neither does development of Destiny 2. We'll see you next Tuesday for Bungie Day. Cheers to all of you for being a great community. Much love, -dmg04 [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Jul 2020 12:48 PM PDT Really goes to show the disconnect between the reddit vocal minority and the larger playerbase. Edit- It's also important to note that PvP population barely jumped up when the season started. Remember the season started on a Tuesday and the weekly update/MM change happened that Thursday. Tuesday/Wednesday population figures were very uninspiring. Then boom Thursday popped off. We've been growing ever since. Which is unprecedented. Population doesn't grow within a season. It declines. Edit 2- Pve population hasn't risen in am abnormal way this season. PvP population didn't rise in any abnormal way for the first two days of the season. That Thursday the MM changes are announced and the population spikes. It has been steadily growing since then. I'm not sure what other logical conclusion you can come to here besides the CBMM change being a growth catalyst for PvP. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jul 2020 05:28 PM PDT Frost bolt isn't in your lobby every game ruining your day. The guy beating your ass is a slightly above average dad who plays at night after work and is just naturally pretty good at video games. Obviously every once in a while, you will come up against actual top tier players, but for every top 1 percent team you play against, you'll play a bottom 1 percent team as well. The vast majority of players in the game are concentrated towards the middle. To compete with them you're gonna have to practice. Cbmm doesn't mean you can't improve. Many of my favorite shooters of all time had Cbmm, and it was still possible to improve. And improvement was more rewarding because you slowly start to become more dominant in your games. Youre not fixed to only playing players of similar skill. You don't have to grind 8 hours a day to compete in pvp now. You just have to become average. For most people, that really isn't that difficult. That being said, team balancing needs work Edit: so many people are telling me that the increase in amount of mercies makes cbmm suck. Team balancing doesn't equal sbmm. I think some sort of team balancing should exist. Just not actual sbmm in the form that it existed. [link] [comments] |
RIP Festering core. Gone too soon and easily forgotten Posted: 02 Jul 2020 07:29 AM PDT This is the other strike that was added with shadowkeep. It takes place on IO and its between the vex and taken. It will have only been in the game 357 days when it is removed with Beyond Light. It will have never had any nightfall specific loot and rarely comes up in the playlist (for me, at least). [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Jul 2020 01:19 PM PDT Of course we'd need more guns from each manufacturer but hey I think it'd be a great way to farm rolls, especially from your favorite manufacturer. Refresh that every 6 months to a year. Hell, bring back factions and do the same. We could just take an engram to whichever vendor we want. It'd really allow us to play how we want, or at least focus on what gear we want. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ [link] [comments] |
To all new players, learn Pit of Heresy as soon as possible, and then do it at least once per week. Posted: 02 Jul 2020 06:19 PM PDT Upon your first completion of the dungeon during the week (Weekly Reset to Weekly Reset) you will receive one piece of masterworked armor. I would not recommend using it, since it has around the worst stat numbers of any pinnacle reward. Instead, dismantle the armor. Upon dismantle, you will receive 6 Prisms and 6 Cores, That means that you can get an average of 1 Shard per 2 weeks without doing ordeal nightfalls or flawless trials tickets. This allows you to acquire the materials to masterwork armor with ease. If you are having problems with learning Pit of Heresy, Datto makes an excellent 8 minute guide. (https://youtu.be/_mqPAOSg-64) If you are having problems acquiring a fireteam, (You don't have to solo the dungeon to get the masterworked drops) you can use an LFG like r/fireteams or Bungie's LFG. I recommend that all new players begin doing this, so that they can easily acquire materials for masterworking armor. [link] [comments] |
Why does this game have literally 0 guidance for beginners to get into the campaign? Posted: 02 Jul 2020 12:33 PM PDT So, I started playing destiny 2 about a week ago, and only just discovered the red war legacy campaign, which introduces how to slide, jump, run, etc. When, before that, i was literally lost, i was going from planet to planet, doing some cool stuff, like looting, etc. then, because i really liked the game, and there was a sale, i bought upgrade pack, and it was at that time i was unlocking io planet, and guess what, i started i guess one of those dlc's, and finished it's first mission, knowing no one, and literally nothing about these characters. I think it would have been nicer if at the beginning it was less of a mmo and to be more "linear" type of a game. [link] [comments] |
Would you enjoy longer Strike boss fights if it meant you get more rewards ? Posted: 02 Jul 2020 06:09 AM PDT I like running Strikes and I think Destiny 2 has some especially cool ones: Inverted Spire, The Corrupted, Warden of Nothing, Pyramidion, Scarlet Keep to name a few. However, in most Strike playlists (pretty much anything besides Master and GrandMaster) the boss gets obliterated in seconds thanks to Supers and Heavy weapons (even more so when its modifier is there. It's a shame because the bosses are supposed to be the most interesting part of the Strike, with waves of enemies coming at you and the encounter having a mechanic that's simple enough for matchmade teams to figure out, while still making the bosses different from regular yellow bars. So my question is: Would you enjoy longer Strike boss fights so you could actually fight them ? Of course, the Strike rewards would be adjusted because of the activity taking more time, meaning:
EDIT: OK so a lot of people here are saying "But I don't like Hollowed Lair and the immune phases !". Well, me neither. However, I'd like bosses that I can damage throughout the entire encounter BUT ALSO not die with just a couple of shots of Golden Gun and grenade launchers. There's a lot of interesting mechanics at play in some strikes and we never get to see them because the boss is melted right away. [link] [comments] |
Weapon Catalysts you would like to see? This is a Poll for dmg04's recent question. Posted: 02 Jul 2020 08:12 AM PDT Which Weapon Catalysts would you like to see in the future ? Current unique participants count: 5000+ This is a response to dmg04's question. He asked the top 5 catalysts we would like to see. So lets make it exciting for us and keep it in one place so it will be easy for the devs to look at. Hence I made this poll. Poll Link: I would personally love to see the raid exotic Tarrabah not loosing its perk on weapon switching, through a catalyst. Recluse replacement!!! Drop some catalyst ideas in the comments below too. Due to this being a suggestion for Bungie it is flared as a suggestion. But lets discusses on different catalyst ideas below. The difference between D1 and D2 Posted: 02 Jul 2020 11:07 AM PDT (out on patrol) Some blueberry is shooting at some hive. in D1: "Aww, that guy is trying to help me/protect me!" in D2: (enraged) "That a**hole is stealing all of my kills!" The difference of course is the pressure/stress of geting all of those bounties done. [link] [comments] |
Pit of Heresy Dungeon SOLO WORLD RECORD [10:18] Posted: 02 Jul 2020 11:09 AM PDT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGoM6j_3dpc I have 5 days and 15 hours spent in this fricking dungeon. This new sword makes 1 phasing the boss a pretty reliable strategy which made me want to come back to speedrunning it solo. My ultimate goal for now is to get the sub 10 which is very likely to happen. The only thing holding me back is the RNG of this dungeon. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them either here or on YouTube! Hope you enjoy! <3 [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Jul 2020 01:43 PM PDT It's puzzling to me that we have to wipe to see damage numbers, whereas at the end of a dungeon you can see your boss dps in the end screen. Why isn't this implemented in raids? [link] [comments] |
Bungie, Stop Being Stingy with Rewards Posted: 02 Jul 2020 04:07 PM PDT It is the third day or Iron Banner, and I have turned in roughly 1000 tokens to not get an auto rifle — not ONE!! What is the drop rate on it compared to other weapons? But seriously, the main reason for ranting is only getting 5 tokens per iron banner win is NOT enough. It is almost demoralizing to play for hours and only have enough tokens to get 3-4 rank up packages. On top of that, the PvP god roll AR only has 1 perk in the first column thats worth getting— which is dynamic sway reduction. In addition, the match drops rarely reward iron banner gear and legendaries. If god rolls are going to be statistically unlikely to get, at least allow more rewards to drop. Edit: I was being sarcastic about the "What is the drop rate on it compared to other weapons?", it is all RNG and I believe they all have the same drop rate. Also, the enhanced mods are also extremely difficult to obtain as well as trials weapons, multiple people have been grinding since trials came out to get the QD/Opening Shot astral or a god roll summoner and have gotten neither. Please for the love of god bungie, buff 140 rpm’s in beyond light, or even this season! Posted: 02 Jul 2020 05:27 PM PDT I realize you guys might think they'll become too powerful, but really? 600 rpm auto rifles kill in .7 seconds. High impact pulses kill in .67 seconds. Having a gun that is relatively easy to use not requiring 100% headshot accuracy sounds good, but then you realize it still will have a .87 second ttk. All I'm asking is 75 damage to the head. Keep the body damage the same so that it has a really poor body shot ttk if you want. [link] [comments] |

Please Display the Season for the Seasonal Slot, not the Ornament Posted: 02 Jul 2020 09:15 PM PDT So, the other day I was looking for GoS compatible armor, so I grabbed a few pieces that showed the Season of Undying symbol. Turns out the symbol displayed on an armor piece will show what season the ornament is from, regardless of the season the actual piece comes from, and I had grabbed several incorrect pieces. There is no situation in which I care what season the ornament came from when I'm picking gear, but the last slot type is important for for which seasonal mods I can use. Can we always display the season corresponding to the actual armor type, instead of whatever cosmetic is equiped over it? Hopefully it's being addressed with the upcoming transmog work, but if not, it really should be. [link] [comments] |

SBMM and CBMM from a low-skill Crucible player’s perspective Posted: 02 Jul 2020 05:58 AM PDT Now that we have seen the addition of SBMM and it's subsequent removal after 3 seasons, here's my take on the experience. I'm a relatively low skill crucible player. I struggled to make it to Heroic in comp to get Komodo and my Savior title. I made it there, but only barely, and only because of being persistent about the reset Glory gains from playing 3 games a week. Recluse and Mountaintop are decidedly out of my reach for the time being. I played 2 seasons of Crucible in Y2, doing anything in my power to even stay afloat. DRB, Telesto, anything that could even give me a slight edge. In Season of Opulence, I made an effort to complete the Last Word quest that requires maintaining a 1.0KAD until the meter is full. I couldn't even do that. My lifetime KD in Crucible was 0.42 at the end of the season. Shadowkeep and SBMM hit, and I jumped into Crucible to try TLW again. All of a sudden, I was matched into games that I could compete in again. I could have primary gunfights and actually hit my TTKs. I could improve positioning and movement because I wasn't hopelessly outclassed. I could complete quests in a day, and bounties in single games instead of suffering through mercy after mercy making 1-2 kills of progression per game. My skills started to improve in equal measure. I felt comfortable enough to jump into Comp in season 9, and I was teetering on the edge of a skill bracket in QP/IB. I would have a decent-to-good game, then be matched into a game where I was clearly in the next skill bracket up. Have 2-3 tough games, be moved back down to the lower skill bracket, then have a couple good games there and move up to the higher bracket again. I was genuinely improving at the game, and it was reflected in my lifetime KD and my Comp performance. Season of Arrivals hit and SBMM went out. I dropped into IB last night for 3 games and managed 6 total kills. All three games were Mercy'd and one round ended 80-8. Every single duel, team fight, every engagement I am so hopelessly outclassed in movement, positioning and aim that I can't even learn from my failures. I can only slam my face repeatedly into losing gunfights, seeing "ggez" in the chat, and watching my ghost get bagged. I recognize that I'm not the intended audience of D2 Crucible. I'm a PvE player and a PvP casual. I go into Crucible on clan PvP nights, and to complete quests and bounties. But is it too much to ask to have a recognition of player skill in matchmaking? I'm not advocating for all the high skill players to be put in a shark tank and only get sweaty matches, but at the same time the kids still wearing water wings shouldn't be swimming in the same pool as the sharks. There has to be a happy medium somewhere. In my humble opinion, SBMM was the best way for me to improve my skill as a terrible Crucible player wanting to improve, and what I've seen so far of CBMM is making it difficult to continue those improvements. Iron Banner : We are breaking up those teams to find a better match Posted: 02 Jul 2020 01:06 PM PDT Well with SBMM gone, this has become a joke, 5 games in a row ended like this, all with solos verses stacked teams [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jul 2020 07:18 PM PDT I saw a couple 2 stacks but after playing like 30 games as a 6 stack, we got mostly mercy rules and all solo enemies. The question: Do you all think this is the way things should be? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jul 2020 11:00 PM PDT I finally, FINALLY completed the Eriana's Vow and Witherhoard catalysts. Boy howdy, I got so excited after each one before I realized that was just the quest to GET the catalyst. Why. Why? 400 activity completions And THEN 700 kills? Sorry, but these catalyst "retrieval" quests are just awful to only be followed by another slog of a quest to get an exorbitant amount of kills. And yes, I used the Whisper thrall room and Shuro Chi to expedite the process. Still god awful. [link] [comments] |
