Posted: 04 Sep 2020 10:13 AM PDT Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/49506 It's hard to believe, but we've entered the month of September. This year has felt like one of the longest, yet shortest I've ever experienced. Things have felt somewhat challenging, but numerous voices in our community inspire us to take on the day with a positive attitude. This week, we'd like to focus our spotlight on someone who's dedicated to bringing smiles to the community and helping us all find our footing on the way to new goals. Meet: King Allan Hello, and welcome to Community Focus! Tell us a bit about yourself, and how you came to the Destiny community. King Allan: My name is Allan. I'm 28 years old and from India. I came to know about Destiny while wandering through a gaming hub and catching a glimpse of someone on the character creation screen. My love for the game began there and it brought me into the Destiny community. Humble beginnings, as many Guardians have. Something that stuck out when first catching your stream was your support of various players and content creators in the community. We noticed you're on a "stream team" for Gladd. What's that all about? King Allan: I'm grateful to be a part of the team. It was Gladd's faith in me that pushed me to think that this was a possibility. The team was created to support people who were pushing for partnership on Twitch. This helped me meet a lot of people and form new friendships along the way. I'm also a part of "Team Ahamkara" which is run by TheBonj. They treat each other like family and have been very welcoming from the get go. I can't wait to see where the stream teams take me and I'm excited for the journey ahead. As people grow within the community, what do you think is the most important thing to keep in mind when streaming or meeting new players? King Allan: Don't forget where you came from. Surround yourself with positive, uplifting and motivational people. Never be silenced and never silence others. The most important thing is that you're AUTHENTIC and KIND to everyone regardless of your differences in opinions. As long as people feel like they can approach me at any time and look at me as a friend, then I'm on the right path. This is my general outlook on life and streaming. Since I started streaming my vision to build a community of people who treat each other right hasn't changed but my goals have consistently changed because of the overwhelming support that's been shown to me. I would love to have a platform where I can shine a light on like-minded people, but that takes time and I'm in no rush as I love the journey more than the destination. That is one of the best ways to think about it really. The things you learn and people you meet while achieving dreams are what count! Let's shift focus a bit. When hopping on Destiny, what do you normally find yourself doing? Hopping in Crucible, guiding players to the Lighthouse, anything else? King Allan: I love PvP and PvE. I help with any endgame PvE activities that people need help with, but I do enjoy clicking heads in PvP. I just want to get lost in the game and have a good time. It doesn't matter what we're doing as long as the company is good. However if it's patrols, I'm switching to solitaire and playing alone. When it comes to loadouts, what are your favorite weapons, Exotics, and subclasses? King Allan: I'm a Titan main who loves Hunters. ... The other class doesn't count. My loadouts are weird and people who watch me find it entertaining. When I do PvP, you can always find me running with a Revoker and Mindbenders at the same time. This confuses people and I love it. My favorite Exotic has always been Riskrunner and I feel like it doesn't get the credit it deserves. The real question here is, "What's the best exotic in D1 and why is it Twilight Garrison?" Please bring it back, thanks. My Favorite subclasses are Code of the Juggernaut (PvP) and Code of the Commander (PvE). However, Behemoth definitely has piqued my interest and you may see me crashing like an avalanche soon. After playing Warlock in Grandmasters for the last few weeks, I have to call out their utility in tough situations. May be worth giving them another chance! So, if someone wanted to catch your streams or subscribe to your voice, where should they go? King Allan:I'm really active on Twitter and you can find me @xKingAllan and catch me live every day at https://www.twitch.tv/xkingallan Any other words of wisdom for the community before we wrap things up? King Allan: "Use your smile to change the world, Don't let the world change your smile." This is one of my favourite couplets and it speaks volumes. Just smile through everything and you'll see that the world around you changes. Many thanks for stopping by. Voices like yours keep our heads above water during trying times. We'll catch you again out there in the wild. If you have any recommendations for a future Community Focus, feel free to send them our way! Bungie.net, Twitter, or wherever you find us on social media. Tell us who inspires you, and we'll pass them the mic. [link] [comments]

“Other Side of the Pyramid,” a Destiny painting. Posted: 04 Sep 2020 09:52 AM PDT A painting I commissioned from u/mutt59 to celebrate Beyond Light. He's really talented and did an amazing job on this piece despite knowing basically nothing about Destiny and working with just the trailers, so go support him. For those that don't get what's going on here, this is my Hunter and his Fallen Champion GF getting their powers. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Sep 2020 07:02 AM PDT The fact that we will be able to read all of the lore from Destiny 2 at any time is huge for new players. That change is amazing, and is going a long way to making sure the extended story is always understandable no matter when you joined our community. The change would be made perfect if the Destiny 1 Lore Cards were readable here eventually. Especially things like the:
This does not need to be 100% of every Lore Card (though that would be the perfect case), but certainly the above things would make the overarching story so far much more understandable. There are guardian who have never heard of the Heart of the Black Garden, who don't know who Crota was and his reign of the moon. Players who don't know about Skolas and the Reef Wars. People who really don't know who the Taken King was and who have never seen Siva and how the Iron Lords fell. Two other things that would be nice to show up in that area would be the Lore Tabs of items in game especially those that are no longer earnable and the Lore that appears directly on Bungie.net. These tell pretty big stories too especially on the 4 Raid set (well really 12) from the various Leviathan Raids. The Lore from Bungie.net is extremely well written but get buried over time. Having these eventually appear in game would be extraordinary. Edit 1: In case there are newer guardians reading this and are like man this stuff you are talking about sounds absolutely amazing I have a few resources for you.

HOT TAKE/THEORY: Stasis isn't the subclass for Ice. It's the Subclass for the state of Absolute Zero Posted: 04 Sep 2020 07:19 PM PDT Ever since Bungie released the info on the new Stasis subclass, one thing has always been on my mind: Why does it call Stasis, instead of just straight up naming it as Ice/Frost/Frozen/Freezing...subclass?
Even if for marketing purpose, Bungie didn't have to mince words to make the subclass sound impressive. Any phrase related to Ice/Freezing could make this new subclass sound cool. Then WHY Stasis?
In their GCX live-stream, Bungie team even emphasized that this particular subclass, which we know is empowered by the Darkness, is NOT ice. So why highlight the distinction?
Then it hit me: The Stasis subclass isn't creating Ice, it's creating the state of Absolute Zero, and its power could affect Light to a certain level.
And I am gonna back this theory up with modern physics facts below.
Before we get to the point of theorizing how Stasis/Power of Darkness could actually affect the power of Light, please first bear with me for laying out some basics from the realm of modern physics science.
In general, the definition of Stasis is a state of inactivity or equilibrium; however, being frozen doesn't mean an object is inactive, at least from physics' point of view. When water freezes and becomes its solid state (a.k.a Ice), in physics' term, all water molecules are still vibrating and moving constantly, just at a much much slower pace than its liquid form. In fact when water freezes at 0°C, the entire body of water's absolute temperature is still at 273.15k, which means the body of water still possesses some energy.
In order to render an entity completely motionless for all its molecules, in other words for it to become completely without any kinetic energy, one will have to render the entity to the state of Absolute Zero. When an entity is the theoretical state of Absolute Zero, then it would really become the state of inactivity (all molecules cease to move/without energy).
If you have read this far and you have some background in the Laws of Thermodynamic and Quantum Physics, you'd point out one major flaw in my theory here: "But the state of Absolute Zero will NEVER be possible! Based on Heisenberg's uncertainty principle and the Laws of Thermodynamic, all entities could NEVER become completely without any energy because of the existence of Zero-Point energy every entity's ground state possesses!!" (basically an obstacle of scientific reality we could NOT break to make anything energy-less)
However, I'd argue, within the setting of Destiny universe, with the power of Darkness/another form of Space Magic, we are enabled to disregard those reality obstacles and use the power of Stasis to turn our enemies into the state of Absolute Zero.
Now I have established how the power of Stasis could be the power to create the state of Absolute Zero, please allow me to get into the part of how this power could affect/influence the power of Light.
In our reality, while experimenting with atoms, modern scientists have been able to observe a very fascinating occurrence when you cool a gas of atoms down to near Absolute Zero. As the atoms approach the state of Absolute Zero, the atoms would unite into a single quantum mechanical entity, an unique state of matter called Bose–Einstein condensate.
The Bose–Einstein condensate represents an ideal friction-less superfluid; but here comes the kicker: It could crystallize into a supersolid phase. This finding reminded me of Bungie's concept art for Stasis crystal, again from the original GCX livestream. With these facts, I hence theorize the so-called "Ice" we saw in all those trailers, are NOT actually ice. Those could in fact be an exotic form of the said crystallized supersolid created from Bose–Einstein condensate under the effect of Darkness' power/space magic.
Another interesting factor that convinced me to theorize what Stasis creates is NOT something as simple as ice are the lore between Light & Darkness.
For a while in game, we have come to learn that Light and Darkness are not necessarily the opposite but rather could be similar forces with different variations of ability/power. Recent lore revelation associated with Ulan-Tan's Symmetry doctrine further described how the doctrine believes Darkness and Light could be two sides of a same coin.
This information gave me the idea that Darkness may be able to affect the power of Light directly, and vice versa. Interestingly, in our reality, when one manipulates the Bose–Einstein condensate, it has been proven the matter can slow down the speed of light (down to 38 mph to be exact) and affect the light's property.
Therefore if you would so graciously accept my theory of how the power of Stasis create the state of Absolute Zero, the potential property of Bose–Einstein condensate to affect the speed of light should also be able to serve as an supporting factor of my theory of the power of Stasis is able to influence the power of Light. Therefore by my theory, the Stasis subclass can NOT be as simple as a subclass for Ice, but rather a far more sophisticated subclass for the state of Absolute Zero.
Regardless the reaction to this post from the subreddit, I want to shout out to Bungie team for designing this seemingly exciting subclass, and also my father, who spent nearly 90 mins on educating me all the basics of Quantum Physics, Laws of Thermodynamic, and Nuclear Physics. I'm never a good science student, but listening to him explaining his life work (he holds Doctor degree for the filed and has taught decades of Physics) to me with passion gave us a connection I never thought we could have in a long time. Imma say it - F2P is bad for the game Posted: 04 Sep 2020 05:37 PM PDT F2P is actively hurting the quality of the game we are getting. It has just become an excuse to not update and add to things in the game, namely things that are now free to all players like Strikes and Crucible. Yes, getting new players into the game is a good thing, not saying it isn't. But, it seems like since F2P has been a thing that things that fall under that category have been neglected. Edit: I am comparing Beyond Light to TTK and Forsaken. All of these are $40 expansions, with Beyond Light being $50 with the Season. TTK and Forsaken added 4 strikes each. Beyond Light is adding 1. Edit 2 since people are having a hard time understanding what I am saying: Before Strikes were part of F2P we were getting 4 per expansion. Now that they ARE F2P we are only getting 1 with a $40 expansion. My point is that making them part of F2P has disincentivized them from adding Strikes as part of the content package included with an expansion. [link] [comments]
I'm really struggling to understand the $50 price point of beyond light + season Posted: 04 Sep 2020 11:40 AM PDT I really struggle to understand the $50 price point the expansion plus season costs in comparison with shadowkeeps $35(which already way pretty meh on the amount of content we got) We won't get a new dungeon, only one new strike, no crucible or gambit maps, the two locations are f2p as are the strikes. Not to mention lots of good content leaves the game. What are we paying for exactly? [link] [comments]

With the new updated Lore/Triumphs UI, it would be great opportunity to get a "Characters" section Posted: 04 Sep 2020 11:46 AM PDT I would love to see a separate tab in the new Lore UI labeled "Characters" or "Heroes/Villains". Among that tab, you'll have sub-tabs such as "Vanguard", "Iron Lords", "Other", "Hive", "Fallen", "Cabal", etc... Each lore piece will show a single artwork from that character and provide background for that character. These can get updated for characters like Cayde, Oryx, etc. This would be especially helpful for new players trying to get into the story/lore of the game. A great example would be how Witcher 3 does it: https://illgaming.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/witcher3-2015-07-28-02-34-09-18.jpg [link] [comments]

Eramis' Helmet May Be Made By The Darkness Posted: 04 Sep 2020 10:47 AM PDT The promo artwork for the Stasis game play shows a close up of Eramis and her armor. Her helmet has the same style and texture that the pyramid ships have (Pyramid Hallway 1- Pyramid Hallway 2) and the Splinter of Darkness. Seems plausible that either she crafted her armor from the pyramid ship material or the darkness made it for her. [link] [comments]

Three for Three - Exotic Scout Rifle (Idea) Posted: 04 Sep 2020 09:23 PM PDT Was thinking of 343 and thought this would be a cool reference to the people that took over Halo. This is my first real fleshed out-ish Exotic idea, what do you guys think? Would it be broken? Too underwhelming, or just average? Let me know any tweaks you'd make to it. Three for Three - Exotic Scout Rifle (Archetype would be similar to Vision of Confluence) Kinetic Damage Mag Size: 26 Perks: 3rd Times a Charm - Killing 3 enemies with a precision shot grants the Three for Three buff. (Can stack up to 3x) Three for Three - Holding Reload consumes one Three for Three buff, allowing the reloaded magazine to be fired in a three round burst. Rapid Hit - Rapid precision hits temporarily increase stability and reload speed. [link] [comments]
When we evacuate Io, we need a remastered Pyramidion strike, featuring Asher Mir Posted: 04 Sep 2020 08:39 PM PDT Here's how I imagine it: Distress beacon flashes from Io as we are sent to go evacuate Asher and close up shop there. We great Asher and talk about getting him ready to leave. Then, Ikora appears and tells us that she has received a massive Taken signal from the Pyramidion that is of utmost concern. Asher agrees to join your fireteam as an NPC to get one last look and closure where he lost his arm. During the strike he casts various supers, leaving the brute force work to you. He goes on and on in excitement about being with a good fireteam for once and how he would have killed Brakion flawless with you. Throughout the encounter you sense something is amiss. Once inside the Pyramidion, there are blights and obvious Taken elements that were not there before. All the enemies are Taken?! What does this mean...and where is that signal coming from? Finally you get to the boss room. Asher goes off realizing there is no lake, and instead enters the pit angry and defiant. He senses the truth before you do... ...that the enemy that spawns is not Brakion, but Brakion, Arm of Savathun, in all his Taken glory. Asher tells you the immense danger that would happen if this abomination was allowed to escape Io. You start the boss fight and he's a bit more tanky than usual. Asher is rezzing everyone instead of the respawn mechanic. Finally you get the Taken Brakion down to a sliver of health...and a cut scene starts. Asher strolls up to the mortally wounded Brakion, screaming and raging. He jumps up and exerts a beastly power and strength you didn't know he still had! He...he...RIPS THE ARM OFF OF BRAKION AND SMASHES HIM OVER THE HEAD?! What a finishing move! Tess doesn't have it for sale at Eververse?? The cutscene ends, Asher declares vindication, playing with Brakion's severed arm like a toy. He tells you that his story is finished and he wants to study the sterile neutrinos in the boss room to see what he can learn to share with Ikora before Io descends into Darkness. He thanks you once more as his faithful assistant, and kicks the dead Taken Brakion body once more for good measure. Evacuation of Io, complete. I've finally finished the game, and it feels wierd... Posted: 04 Sep 2020 02:04 PM PDT I've been playing Destiny like pretty much everyone here for a long time. Tonight I finished the Strange Terrain Grandmaster, unlocked Conqueror and finally completed the game. The chase was really fun to me, a good challenge all the way through. I still remember the first title I got: Rivensbane. Petra's Run was the last triumph I needed and my hearth was beating all the way through the Raid. Cursebreaker and Dredgen were next after it. Then Chronicler (boy is that one way too long to get). Shadow was the next title after it, and my team at the time got it the week it became available. I still remember how the Flawless menagerie bosses were harder than Crown of Ease. Unbroken was by far the hardest one at the time. I had some help from some friends in the first two 5500 runs, but with Shadowkeep introducing freelance I decided to do the whole run solo, and that was one of the best decisions I made. The matches were really intense, the grind brutal at times, but I've always enjoyed PvP in Destiny, so I kept going. Unbroken: https://twitter.com/MrPinoShow/status/1180083823545069568 It took me almost 3 days to get to 5500 in Freelance, and that was an insane achievement for me. But when I really started chasing titles was during Warmind. The season was empty, but since I'm still unable to find a game I enjoy as much as Destiny, and due to covid I had a bunch of free time, I decided to go all in on the grind. Almighty, Flawless, Blacksmith, Reckoner, Enlightened and Harbinger were all achieved in the span of a couple of months.
I'm kind of sad I don't have tweets for the other seals, I was hoping to group all of them together. It feels pretty wierd. I'm really excited to see what Beyond Light will bring to the table! All the completed seals: https://twitter.com/MrPinoShow/status/1301972333603835904 I'm making this post in part because I'm pretty proud of myself (bragging), and in part becasue I wanted to put my experience in writing for people interested un pursuing some of these titles. The grind for these might seem impossible without a full team of friends, but in reality you can get through a lot of the content in this game via LFG posts and random teams, or you can straight up solo some of the titles people think are too hard to get (Unbroken and Reckoner specifically) Don't get me wrong: a consistent team helps a lot, I won't deny it, but pretty much all the PvE seals are achievable. Flawless runs and some challenges are probably the hardest things you're going to have to face, but with all the guides around and people in the community that like to help others you'd be surprised with how much you can do. If you're one of those players that are scared of the challenge but are interested in starting to chase a title, just do it. You'll be surprised on how much you can achieve! Why Umbral Engrams Are Fantastic: here's what I hope Bungie continues to do with loot Posted: 04 Sep 2020 09:45 AM PDT RATIO OF DROPS to GOD ROLLS, WHY SETTLE FOR LESS? What do you remember about the drop system we had back in Season of Dawn? I'll tell you what I remember: grinding for a specific roll, not getting it, and just settling for a 'decent' one -- on the right track to the roll I wanted, but some perks were off. This happened to me with Trophy Hunter, Perfect Paradox and Steelfeather. Ouch. With the Umbral Engram system I do not want to settle for 'decent'. I am not stopping until I get the god roll, and I feel confident only settling for the best because the rate at which I get Umbrals to drop matches with the size of the drop/perk pool. The reason why I settled for less before was because with the amount of time it took to make the weapons in Dawn made me unsure if I would actually get the right roll before the season ended. I think this is variable, actually. It would be perfectly okay to get less frequent drops if the perk pool was more limited. But I don't think it necessarily needs changing, it's just something to note. OPPORTUNITIES AND RISKS There's actually some real nuance to deciding what you're gonna do with Umbrals. By that I mean you might actually take a second to figure out what best to do with one. Maybe I have a bunch of Umbral Engrams and now I'm at the recaster wondering what I'm gonna do. I could put some in as CQC engrams to continue chasing down a nice IKELOS SMG. That'd cost a decent amount of altered element though. But, oh man, if I leave it unfocused, I have a chance at getting an exotic, which would be really nice. And then I'm saving a bunch of altered element, and as low as it is, there's still a chance I could get a good SMG roll. This is really cool, and I don't think we've really seen something like this with our loot systems in the past. It's really refreshing. PRIMARY AND SECONDARY CONTEXT FOR THE "CHASE" This morning I realized something really interesting. My current main 'chase', or my focused 'hunt' in the game was getting an IKELOS sniper with moving target and quickdraw. Everything I was doing -- adventures, patrols, strikes -- was based around grinding for more Exodus engrams, to try and get that roll. But the Umbral Engram system also works perfectly as a secondary chase, a 'back-burner' goal that you progress while working towards something different. When I was going for the Trials helmet on my hunter last week, I got a Falling Guillotine to drop with the exact roll I wanted. Nice!!! Even if I hadn't succeeded in getting the helmet, it still would've been a bit of a win because I progressed on one of my 'secondary' or background chases. If Umbral Engrams were only available through entirely random drops, it'd be frustrating trying to hunt down certain weapons. But you actually have quite a lot of control over how you'll get them, if you're willing to put in the time. I'm thinking of the Exodus bounties here, which are a fair balance of time to get a guaranteed Umbral. (as a side note: I really enjoy the Exodus bounties, and I kind of wish we had this sort of thing for PvP, especially Trials, where people could feel even less like they wasted their time when losing a match) LESS RANDOM LEVELLING I'll keep this short. If my armor is lower level than my weapons, I can 3D print armor at the recaster. Another way to help even out weirdly spread power level, which is always nice. TL;DR umbral emgrams good i lik it.
