    Artwork here!

I've gotten a ton of positive feedback and support on these pieces this year, and it's been so humbling. Thanks for all the love! I put these guys together now...

And we're just waiting to add stasis next! I may go ahead and draw the babushka warlock, but I also kind of want to wait and see what armor I end up rocking in Beyond Light. So we'll see.

Ikora should give us rewards for completing Triumphs and collection sets. She is the head warlock so it makes sense for her to want to keep track of the items and such. Right now she doesn't do anything.

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 08:07 AM PDT

Every vendor in the tower has a purpose, Vanguard missions with Zavala, Trials with Saint 14, Weapons bith Banshee 44 and Ada 1 with weapons yet I'm not sure Ikora does anything anymore. She could be a good vendor for completionists. Giving special weapons or boosting certain weapons after you collect a set.

Edit: I have some ideas for Ikora:

    • Complete a weapon/armor set and you get a special perk/setting on a weapon or armor in the set.
    • Every 500-1500 Triumph score she gives a bright engram (or maybe just bright dust)
    • Complete a lore tab and turn it into her and she plays a voice line like Eris does in Interference describing wtf is happening.
    • After you get Cade's Ace of Spades return to her for a special cutscene.
    • She gives optional animated cutscenes instead of basic boring text you gotta read. Of course read by Warlock Byf!

Wishing to the Ahamkaras that at some point in Destiny's franchise we will be able to play the FULL campaign missions from the very beginning of D1 to the very last mission ever in a seamless, fluid story mode.

When Halo Master Chief Collection released, I enjoyed the Halo series more than ever because playing all of the campaigns back to back was BRILLIANT!

Maybe it's wishful thinking because of the "size of the game" issues right now, but I hope by 2022 Lightfall they will bring a polished beginning to end Destiny campaign saga!

P.S., the speed runs would be a blast too

    Stop with Coldheart and Stasis!

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 03:14 PM PDT

Coldheart is not and will never be a stasis weapon.

Coldheart gets its name from its liquid ammo that also functions as its cooling system, keeping the gun at a subzero temperature.

Results of 1000 Armor focused Umbral engrams.

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 04:32 PM PDT

    Overview

Over the course of 40 days I tracked armor focused Umbral engrams for a total of 1000. Having not much else to do in the extended season , I figured having a little project like this would help.

Solstice helped with this and I also opened 1000 solstice packages and the results are presented in a separate post.

It was also to verify that those feelings of "mostly res/str pieces" or "its mostly class items" were simply short-term streaks and confirmation bias and validate that the RNG is working "as expected".

Note this is different than "as intended" as we don't know what sort of manipulation may or may not be done with RNG rolls in different areas. I noticed a marked increase this season of posts about powerful/pinnacle drops streaks. I myself was the victim of a 6 energy slot in a row streak. We simply don't have enough community data on that one.

    Now, the results!

Stats about armor slot and and stat distributions

    Slot distribution:

    Slot Count Rate %
    Head 197 19.7
    Arms 186 18.6
    Chest 219 21.9
    Legs 185 18.5
    Class 213 21.3
    Total 1000 100

The rest of the stats are based on the 787 non class item stat rolls.

    Total stat roll distribution:

Total Count % % Total or higher
    52 2 .25 100
    53 8 1.0 99.7
    54 18 2.3 98.7
    55 61 7.8 96.4
    56 89 11.3 88.7
    57 127 16.1 77.4
    58 136 17.3 61.2
    59 141 17.9 44.0
    60 99 12.6 26.0
    61 52 6.6 13.5
    62 26 3.3 6.9
    63 16 2.0 3.6
    64 7 .89 1.5
    65 4 .51 .64
    66 1 .13 .13
    Total 787 100

The last column can be used to determine the chance off getting that total or higher. For example: 26% of the rolls were at least 60 stat total.

Number of individual stats with a 2, the minimum for a single stat:

Number of 2 stat Count Rate %
    0 227 28.8
    1 389 49.4
    2 166 21.1
    3 5 .64

    787

    Averages for individual stats:

    Stat Average
    Mob 9.96
    Res 9.24
    Rec 9.86
    Dis 9.63
    Int 9.56
    Str 9.94

Number of times a stat showed as the highest in it's group (ties separate):

    Stat Count Rate %
    Mob 262 33.3
    Res 240 30.5
    Rec 261 33.2
    Top 3 tie 24 3.0
    Dis 246 31.3
    Int 254 32.3
    Str 264 33.5
    Bot 3 tie 23 2.9

Number of times a stat was 20 or greater:

    Stat Count Rate %
    Mob 36 4.57
    Res 28 3.56
    Rec 44 5.59
    Dis 46 5.84
    Int 29 3.68
    Str 35 4.45

    Summary and miscellaneous musings

TL/DR; The armor focused umbrals offer a reasonable chance at getting a good build before the end of the season. They are rolling consistent with RNG expectations and within the theories developed by /u/Testifye abut a year ago.

Overall the distributions look consistent with expectations for RNG. Very close to 20% for each piece, and the averages and number of times a certain stat is the highest in its group (mob/res/rec)(dis,int,str) is also fairly equal.

These were all done with the recaster fully upgraded and the perk which gives a chance at a higher stat roll. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to determine on which pieces the perc proc'd as there is overlap in the stat totals.

Compared to the Solstice armor drops which I evaluated in another post, you can see the effect of the "high stat roll" flag. The Solstice pieces have an overall higher stat distribution, a better chance at a 60+, higher averages and higher rates of 20 or over stats.

For farming high stat gear, raids and dungeons are your best bet for number of opportunities per time spent. However, as a solo player , Umbrals are an alternative that is still not too bad. Some armor crafting sources have suggested a 20/15 piece is a piece worth keeping. Note that means that one stat will be in the top group (mob/res/rec) and one in the bottom (dis, int, str). I've never seen a piece with more than 12 with a 20+ in a "competing" stat, even in "high stat" pieces.

I had 178 pieces meet that criteria or 17.8% chance of an armor focused umbral dropping a "decent" piece. There are 9 combinations of top/bottom stats, 18 if the order is important (ie, the 20 must be in the top or the bottom). So, this reduces the chances to about 2% if order is not important or 1% if it is. At 20 umbrals a day, that's an average 5 days to have a decent chance of a 20/15 piece in the stat distribution you want.

Given that umbrals are dropping from everything and some are complaining about it filling up their inventory and postmaster , 20/day isn't too difficult to get. On the flip side, for some the umbral pool is still being shared with the god roll weapon chase which would cut into it. Overall though, I would say that just playing the game and using some of the passively obtained umbrals for armor should result in a decent build over the course of the season.

I'd like to further analyze the stats according to the "4-block" theory as posted by u/Testifye here. His post contains a link to the original theory by u/JpDeathBlade. Thanks to both of you for pioneering the way to understanding how stats are generated.

I've never seen a piece that has more than the 34 theoretical maximum in a group (cluster). "High stat roll" pieces get an adjustment but I don't believe its in the form of a "bonus block" as that should result in clusters over 34. It seems to be as bonus stat points but I haven't found a pattern as to how they are allocated.

    • 9 random crashes

    • 25 killed by the port that Kell throws at the beginning of the DPS phase

    • 13 times being stomped by Kell

    • 37 times killed by snipers in hexahedron

    • 5 times blown away while on sparrow going on rainbow road

    • 20 times stuck on the entrance of the hexahedron (before patch)

    • 7 times died after flying through the squares and fell on the line-sh hole and died

    • 88 times got yeeted by Phalanx echo (first boss)

And other mistakes due to lack of skills

I (also) opened 1000 Solstice Packages. Results and stats within!

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 04:30 PM PDT

    Overview

First off, kudos to u/TheAnduric who completed his grind much quicker than I did. He said he was doing 10-12 hours/day and mine was closer to 6 hours/day average. His results are here.

Each individual drop was entered into a spreadsheet. Data and stats were compiled from there.

This grind was done for science and for high stat armor rolls. All of the other items that drop are just minor bonuses and there are much faster ways to grind for cores, prisms, modules, etc.

NOTE: I had started a 1000 armor focused umbral study on Jun 20th. This additional study came as a result of that. The extra umbral drops from solstice packages and from the nightmare hunt grind actually helped to speed that up.

It is complete and those results will be in a separate post.

    Drop Rate

For items that dropped different amounts I've only given the drop RATE , not the total amounts. Shards were 3 at least, mats dropped either 10 or 25. Cores dropped 1, 3 or 5. Total glimmer was 489000.

    Item Count Rate %
    Legendary Shard 80 8.0
    Planetary Materials 216 21.6
    Enhancement Core 130 13.0
    Umbral Engram 154 15.4
    Upgrade Module 27 27.0
    Enhancement Prism 12 1.2
    Blue Gear 891 89.1
    Legendary Gear 228 22.8
    Solstice Gear 338 33.8

Most Solstice gear drops in a group of 50: 21

Least Solstice gear drops in a group of 50: 12

Longest streak of Solstice gear drops: 5-once, 4-7 times

Longest streak of no Solstice gear drop: 11-twice, 10-4 times

    Int 15 5.66
    Str 18 6.79

    Summary and miscellaneous musings

A solstice package has about a 1/3 chance of dropping a piece of solstice gear which is distributed fairly evenly among the 5 slots. This yields an overall chance of about 27% to get a "high stat" rolled armor piece. That piece has a about a 70% chance of rolling a 60 or higher!

Overall, the RNG on slot and stat distribution falls in line with expectations. Mine had a slight strength bias but it's not out of line for the 265 sample size. My umbral armor results yielded a sample size of 787 and showed a more even distribution.

I know confirmation bias exists and some of the additional analysis was done to alleviate that. For example those feelings you get like "its mostly res/str as the highest" or "it's 50% class items". Some of these things can happen over the short term. At the start, I was at a 43% class item rate! I did the packages in groups of 50 and may post distributions for each group to see if there's any validation to the feel that there is an abnormal amount of RNG "streaking".

Overall, I felt that Solstice and the package drops were a good source to grind for high stat armor, especially for a solo player. My most notable roll was a 27 Rec/29 Dis leg piece!

I'm actually finding I perform better when I'm able to focus, and not hear others.

That, and it seems like you get way more people interested when the pressure isn't there to talk to people. I'd recommend it.

The #1 Non-Critical feature I would LOVE to see in Destiny at some point? A Photo-mode

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 08:11 AM PDT

Yes there are other far more important things that need to be iron'ed out.

Yes this isn't important at all.

But God I would spent DOZENS upon DOZENS of hours messing around with a Destiny Photomode if it had one.

I imagine I speak for a lot of people when I say this, but this game is gorgeous. The art direction is one of the STRONGEST aspects of Destiny. And hell, I bet people would download the game JUST to try out the Photomode due to how beautiful it is.

I've really come to appreciate them in things like Shadow of the Colossus, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, etc etc. And is something that makes the experience even more fun and immersive for me.

Anyway, just a random thought I had that I wanted to share for one of my favorite games of all time.

Can We Take A Moment To Appreciate The Incredible Work Bungine Did With D2 Raids?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 03:12 PM PDT

    Title basically,

I've been playing D2 since Forsaken, and have never stepped into a raid due to lack of friends or a skilled group. But I knew I really wanted the MMXX title, so this season I told myself I'm gonna do thme all.

And this week I started doing all of the raids with some help from very kind Sherpas (who are now my clanmates).

And I have to say: The raids are incredible pieces or work!

It just shows that so much thought and planning went into the design and development of each and every one of them, and even though some of them are complex or finnicky, they feel incredibly polished and fluid, and manage to maintain very special and original mechanics without completely breaking, while giving a great sense of achievement.

And now after getting the title, I feel like I'll continue doing the raids again and again, simply because they are very fun and a part of Destiny I can't believe I haven't even touched for so long.

That's it, if you'd like to put in a good word for our Bungos, that'll be cool :)
