To the guardian that helped me with my Physics homework after our Garden Raid...

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 11:57 AM PDT

Was doing a Garden run last night and after we beat the boss I took a chance and asked if anyone was good enough at physics to help me with my college homework. Luckily one of them happened to have a degree and even taught physics!

To that guy: thanks for taking the time out to walk me through it, it made the rest a whole lot easier! Cool community moment.

Bungie, can you make the loading screen tips more usefull?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 05:31 AM PDT

    Like,

"PASS THE DAMN ORB TO SOMEONE FIRST FOR EXTRA DAMAGE, YOU BLUEBERRY"

    or like

"DON'T BE A USELESS GUARDIAN AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SEASONAL CHAMPION MOD ON YOUR GUNS FOR DEALING CHAMPIONS IN NIGHTFALL"

or even teach them how to level up like what is powerfull/pinnacle and how to get them.

I got a lot of New Light friends and they don't know how to level up and even end up deleting a god roll stuff.

But still, thank god they asked me soo many question how to D2. So I teach them. And they fall in love with this game and so am I.

The biggest loss for Bungie after the split with Activision was Vicarious Visions

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 09:56 AM PDT

Vicarious Visions did the amazing Destiny 2 port for PC.

They recently released their first game after D2, the remake of Tony Hawks 1 & 2.

It is not only a great remake, it is also extremely well optimized for PC, like D2.

Look at Digital Foundry, for example, the reviewer said it is: "the best optimized game from Activision this generation":

You guys will be missed (at least for D2)

Bungie, please add emotes which involve our Ghost.

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 01:41 AM PDT

Title says it all. Maybe nothing too extra, I just want to be able to fist-bump my Ghost or take a selfie with them. Maybe have my Ghost be a radio and play lo-fi beats to study/relax to, ya know? Sure he can be annoying at times, but he's my little light!

Edit: wow this really blew up over night! Thanks a lot for the support! I guess a lot of people wanna see these too!

I hope Bungie releases numbers of how many Solstice Keys get deleted on reset in the upcoming TWAB

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 04:46 PM PDT

Pretty much title, I know I have around 4k keys just sitting in my inventory because the EAZ is such a baseless area to host an event, which makes grinding it for chests just unbearable to me. I'm also interested to see how many other. Guardians out there just let all the keys sit in their inventory as well.

Destiny, while it has issues as a game, is undeniably a masterpiece as a whole.

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 02:58 AM PDT

When I first purchased Destiny in 2014, I played for a short while. Not understanding the hype behind the gameplay as a whole and disliking the forced parameter of controller use, I played through the main storylines as swiftly as possible and promptly got lost, not understanding the concept behind looter shooters at the time. Admittedly in hindsight it's strange to see that I didn't get the point, being a veteran World of Warcraft and RIFT player.

However, I digress. After I ceased playing, I only watched as some of my friends did newer raids. I was a very timid and meek person back in those days, unsure of my own skill (something I still struggle with even today in Destiny 2, Year 3,) always comparing myself to those around me and not knowing how I measure up. It wasn't the mechanics or coordination or skill that captivated me though. Sure, I wanted to be good, but I cared about something else more: the rest of the game itself.

I dropped off the radar for a while, didn't keep up with the game. I effectively never touched Destiny 1 from that point onward, only later in the time leading up to Destiny 2's launch did I begin playing again, but that's a story I'll save for another day.

Then, I got the chance to play the beta. Protheon, a strike boss that will live in my mind for the remainder of my life, famous for getting absolutely fucking walloped before even exiting first phase. I looked up at that towering Vex and had one thought: "I am buying this game ."

As I reran the strike with my friends, playing over and over and over, trying out different weapons and trying to bug-hunt so I could send feedback to Bungie, I became appreciative of the work they had done. The strike had so much care put into it, so much effort. Sound design, gun responsivity and the general artwork of each character model and their armors floored me. That was until I saw the supers, the improvements of which completely sent me into the heliopause. Golden Gun flared with an open disregard for safety, evaporating each enemy the weapon so much as grazed. Dawnblade flickering embers from left and right, slicing maelstrom of fury and sun, Hammer of Sol exploding into molten fury and solar vortexes. Nova Bomb entrapping and devouring everything it saw, casting it into a disintegrating maw. Shadowshot's tether lashing out, tendrils of death from an unknown place. I could go on and on and on about how drawn in I was by the stunning visuals.

A year later, I saw Forsaken. This part deserves its own paragraph. Why? In their finality, I have never witnessed anything more gorgeous than Year 2 Supers in a video game. They remain some of the greatest examples of complete synchronicity in terms of SFX/VFX coupling. A fully-realized harmonization of all things necessary to make a Super live up to its namesake—Ultimate mastery of the Light made incarnate. Every last thread of the unique tapestry that is the Destiny 2 particle effects was woven into an exquisite depiction of our Traveler's retribution.

Michael Salvatori leaves nothing to be desired in the music department. I find myself listening to the Destiny soundtrack simply to help myself do simple things as routine, as the BGM was so potent that it became a mainstay of my daily life since I played so much. I often listened to it in college to help me focus on work and maintain a sense of normalcy even while cramming. Since then, I have only praised one other game's soundtrack as being so spectacular (that game being Supergiant's "Bastion")

What I'm getting at is how often this wonderful, beautiful work of art is commonly passed by as a "bad game" simply because it has a fair share of endgame problems that need to be addressed. People who wakeboard that shallow assessment will never know what Destiny has in store for them. There is so much soul in this game, its art assets, enemy design, sound design, world design, lore, musical score, weapons and the feedback from each individual archetype.

I see a lot of negativity on the subreddit, and that's to be expected. Oftentimes, people are only vocal when discontent. I just wanted to help lighten the load a little.

So, from a humble single player that loves your work, thank you, Bungie. I know I speak for a lot of people when I say: I love this game. dmg, if you see this, I'd appreciate if you passed it along to any of the staff who seem in need of cheering up.

So I Just Stumbled Upon my Favorite Use for Disruption Mods

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 10:04 AM PDT

Not sure how widespread this knowledge is, but I just discovered yesterday, by total fluke, the best use for Disruption Mods in Hive- or Taken-infested environments:

Shriekers? Those floaty screechy fucks that melt through your shields w aimbot wallhacks?

Fuck those things. Disruption causes them to wig out and miss all their shots

The Limericks of Ryan the Psion and Randal the Vandal

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 10:14 PM PDT

There once was a Psion on Io

    Immune to the Guardian psycho

    Immortal he cried

As he watched his friends die

He is Ryan the Psion of Io

There once was a Vandal in Russia

    An absolute unit, a crusher

    The juggernaut rocked

    Left the Guardian shocked

He is Randal the Vandal of Russia

Bungie, warlock gauntlets need to affect the shoulders again

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 09:32 AM PDT

It would add so much more nuance to warlock fashion and would just make things look so much better. I'm not even going to attempt to give any advice on how the logistics of this would work, but it really needs to be worked out.

I do not know who needs to hear this, and maybe there's quite a bit that don't know with New Light and all, but if you are on PC please turn on the local chat.

Go to settings>gameplay>Text Chat - ON. Also have team and local set to automatic.

Xur should have an umbral engram style system for exotics

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 06:27 PM PDT

Would make Xur more relevant for long time players and also make the exotic chase and putting together a build more interesting. Have a limit of one or two per week and maybe a material you need that drops from nightfalls/raids/trials/dungeons or whatever.

Right now the biggest issue with experimenting with fun builds is how much RNG is involved to get everything rolled the way you want. I think the direction Destiny is heading is great, IMO this is the most RPG the game has ever felt, but we need more ways to reduce that RNG so we can put together the builds we want.

I think they should make weapon masterworks rollable again

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 01:28 PM PDT

It's just a tiny bit of RNG that always annoys me e.g. I have an extremely good dire promise but the only reason it's not god roll is because of its masterwork. I think if re-rolling a masterwork cost like 10 cores or something that would be totally fine and wouldn't be a negative change

Symmetry catalyst should reload the gun when exiting the alt.fire

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 12:12 PM PDT

The rifle's handling and reloading speed is abysmally low as it is, on top of that you have to first exit the dynamic charge mode and only then can you reload. The catalyst should make it so exiting the alt. fire also reloads the gun. Not fitting for a main seasonal exotic weapon to be so useless. Adding auto loading to erianas turned the gun 180 degrees from trash to meta nightfall weapon.

    Bungie Clans need some love

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 09:36 AM PDT

With Destiny leaning more heavily into the RPG aspects, and D2 hanging around for a few more years, we need to revisit Clans. They are so bare bones compared to other games, but the potential is limitless!

Currently the actual in-game benefits are:

    • Bounties

    • Clan banner perks

    • Engrams

    • some triumphs

That is it. And let's be honest the perks on the Clan Banners are pretty meh.

So what can we do? Well, there is a shit ton that we can do!

    1. We need a Clan Hall. This is the most basic thing we need. A place for Clan members to hang out in-game. Bungie can either create a Clan Hall or, as many have asked, just use an existing location. The Farm, the Tribute Hall (I know it's going away), Felwinter's Peak, the Old Tower, these are all options. And just make it an instanced version that people load into.

    2. Upgrades. Give us things to add to the Clan Hall that are usuable that the Clan has to work together and buy. Some options:

    • clan bounty vendor

    • Cryptarch

    • postmaster

    • Faction Representatives (I still want Factions back)

    • gunsmith

    • Firing Range (can use the holograms from the Tribute Hall)

    • soccer field

    1. Trophies to show off achievements of course! Some of these could require multiple completions. They would also require full clan fireteam. Ideas for trophies:
    • one for each raid

    • clan fireteam going flawless in Trials

    • Flawless raid runs

    • Strike boss trophies

    • Gambit trophies

    • Adventure trophies

    • Iron Banner

    1. Locked Clan Hall spaces. Maybe there are spaces of the Clan Hall that are locked and have to be unlocked. And once you unlock that area you can start a quest to get a Ship/Sparrow/ etc.

    2. Clan Ornaments. Clan works to unlock a set of armor/weapon ornaments that have the Clan symbol on it

    3. Invasions. Maybe the Hall gets invaded and it requires everyone in the area to defend it

    4. Clan Challenges. Clans can challenge each other to different stuff (Crucible, successful strikes, successful raids, etc). Winner gets a trophy showing it off, until they are challenged again.

And Bungie, the best part about this stuff is, most of it is already in game! Yes it will take some work, but a lot of the foundation is already there! And it's, imo, a big payoff! And it'll give people incentives to be in a clan and it'll give clans stuff to work toward!

Edit: I'm aware the numbering is thrown off. Reddit formatting ftw

    Ikora Voiceline

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 10:00 PM PDT

While playing through the Forsaken Campaign with my friend, I noticed that during the small talk you have will Zavala and Ikora right after Cayde's death, Ikora mentions that the traveler was speaking to her about things, one of which was "silver trees"

Just though it was interesting. I figured it was probably related to the events of this season

I absolutely encourage everyone to try LFG.

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 03:37 PM PDT

I've been playing since D1Y1 and up until recently I had never tried LFG. I used to have a group of real life friends that played the game religiously alongside me back in the day. Over time, we grew apart and all of them stopped playing, which left me, alone, to play the game. I have pretty bad anxiety and didn't want to talk to anyone online so I decided that a lot of stuff would just remain out of my hands.

Around a month ago I tried to solo Prophecy solely for the Eyes of Savathun inside of it. I couldn't make it past the first boss, so I finally bit the bullet, joined the Destiny 2 PC LFG, and made a post. With the help of two kind guardians I got the eyes and completed the dungeon for the first time. I went in super nervous because I expected to have to talk to them, but not a single word was spoken over mic, all of our communication was through text chat.

I really got into LFG over the last week and I'm so happy I did. I still haven't talked to anyone and honestly I don't want to, but so much stuff that I once thought out of my reach is now possible. In fact, earlier today I stopped to look through my inventory at my Whisper, Outbreak, Truth, and Bad Juju, weapons that I thought I'd never have up until last week.

My point is, at least give LFG a try. I never used it because I didn't want to talk to people, but I'm so happy I finally did.
