    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Guardian Games 2021' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

    Posted: 10 May 2021 06:39 PM PDT

It's been my life's work designing a new solar power array to help the city in this age. And the vanguard has just approved my design and it is being prepped for construction!

Soon my life's work will be helping the city thrive against the darkness, using the power of the sun. It's not like the sun will go anywhere, right?

It's so nice knowing that I don't have to grind to increase my light level next season

    Posted: 10 May 2021 08:05 PM PDT

When I heard Bungie announce that they're only increasing the cap by 10, the weight on my shoulders for next season immediately lifted.

This is what seasons should be, only increasing the pinnacle cap by 10 each season and only up the light by 100-200 every expansion, it just feels right.

Farewell Anti-Barrier Sniper. You'll be missed!

    Posted: 10 May 2021 07:59 AM PDT

I don't know about you, but I had a really good time using the anti-barrier mod for snipers. Specially with Izanagi's Burden. I always loved this weapon and using it to pierce champions barriers was so satisfying.

I'm really hoping to see this mod again in another season!

The honeymoon phase for Season of the Chosen is over

    Posted: 10 May 2021 08:25 AM PDT

I'm getting really sick of this season.

Sure, battlegrounds was pretty solid, but then I got all the loot I wanted from there. New strikes were fun, and the Presage was great, but only once a week? Come on. Then GMs came around which were fantastic, but now I've got all the adepts and my guilded conquerer. Guardian games came along with a bit of a change too, but now that the closing ceremony there's NOTHING LEFT.

This is ridiculous bungie. We expected a full season of excellent amazing content, but we were cut short. We're missing one full day of great content, and until we get a new season I'm boycotting this game.

Kudos to the storytelling team for Season of the Chosen. I don't think people realize all that you did.

    Posted: 10 May 2021 11:55 AM PDT

The story team gets a lot of grief at times. I'll admit in some seasons it was completely justified. This season, though, should count as a high point for the franchise. Everyone thinks of a "redemption" of Crow, but a whole lot more was accomplished than that in advancing the narrative. Let's consider.

Crow He was introduced in Season of the Hunt and quickly became a sympathetic character, that's true, but the real character development happened this season. Well, so far at least. This season he's gone from simply a sympathetic character to one that we actively like. People find themselves taking Crow's side against Osiris. Who ever saw that coming? People have long speculated Crow becoming the next Hunter Vanguard since Forsaken, simply as a story point. Through this season, though, it's become personal. A lot of people will be genuinely angry if he doesn't because he's earned it.

If you pay attention, Uldron's personality is still very much there. However, being raised as a Guardian seems to have cleansed it of the hubris that lead to his downfall.

If you want to get just how much people are into this character, just think that people are actually 'shipping Crow and Amanda Holiday. Did you ever think that would happen?

Zavala Remember the number of people thinking Zavala a wimp? That he isn't fit to lead? Was he too afraid? Too tired? Was his claim of having to consider the greater fate of humanity simply an excuse to avoid hard decisions? Maybe there was a bit of this in the back of his mind, but current challenges have certainly changed that.

    Nobody thinks those things anymore.

He read Caiatl perfectly. Not only did he refuse to submit, he refused to engage in a war that even if we won, would leave us far weaker for the greater battle coming. He stood up to both Saladin and Osiris and made real decisions of consequence. This, and the compassion he showed Crow made it clear that there is a servant leader behind his decisions.

I was actually bothered by his disappointment in keeping Crow's past from him, even though that's consistent with the Guardian's code. Perhaps it was because I would have done the same as my character in real life.

At the end of the day, Zavala has regained all my respect, and then some.

Osiris I main a Warlock, so Osiris has always had a special place for me. He was one of the people I looked up to in this game. The hand he reached out to Crow last season just reinforced that.

This season I was unpleasantly reminded that he is merely human. The way he he played both sides for his objectives was disappointing. His actions to undermine Zavala was rather concerning. Looking at this, his former exile does not seem nearly so unjust.

His goals might be noble, but the means you take to accomplish them is just as important. His not on his pedestal any longer. In fact, I see him now much more as merely a conniving politician at this point. I'm waiting next season for him to prove me wrong.

Saladin We have tended to forget just what the Iron Lords were/are. Part of that may have been Shaxx's boyish enthusiasm. Part may have been Saladin's liking of us, in spite of what we've seen in Rise of Iron or the D1 lore.

This season we were reminded that a) Saladin is an Iron Lord, and b) Iron Lords are not Nice PeopleTM generally speaking. Shaxx and Tara Karn being notable exceptions.

More important, he was wrong on pretty much every major decision this season. If we listened to him, we would have been devastated by needless war for when the real enemy arrived. Being skeptical is one thing, but being driven by hubris and bigotry and the belief in your own inherent superiority is entirely another.

It will be interesting to see if we end up in a battle against Light wielders before we have to engage the Hive.

The other thing they need congratulations for has been their pacing. Too many times in the past, the pacing has seemed something artificial that is forced on them by the marketing department to FOMO-drive sales or to time-gate the pacing due to a lack of story.

This season, the pacing of events finally felt natural. The story was actually unfolding as we played. Yes, one could complain that there was a lot of "Play this - play that," to this unfolding, but well ... this is a looter-shooter, not a narrative game like Call of the Sea. The writers have been stepping this part up every season and I expect that trend to continue as we go forward.

Even the chatter at the beginning or end of activities evolved over time. If you simply returned to orbit after an activity as a regular habit, you probably missed a lot. The growing relationship between Amanda and Crow all happened there. Much of the plotting between Osiris and Saladin against Zavala also happened in the Proving Grounds dialogs. Those dialogs changed over the course of the season. It contributed excellently to a sense of pacing.

One thing I have not seen mentioned too much has been the background chatter in the open world and social spaces. You should wander around the Tower or HELM or listen to Elsie's radio. You will learn a lot. The most obvious example, off the top of my head? Everyone was talking about Crow humming Savathun's theme at HELM. Wander around a bit. He's not the only one humming it.

Then, of course there's the big story of this season. The Bray family. I bring this up here, because the way the structure of the narrative appears to me is like what some TV series have tried to do. There is the main story. The one that stretches over the years. Then there is the story of that year's season; or series, if you're a Brit. This is the major expansion drops. Finally you have the subplots that advance the story but aren't essential. These are Destiny 2's seasons.

The big story of Beyond Light has been the Bray family. While we didn't see as much active development this season, there has certainly been motion where the Vex are concerned, and where the Vex are it seems the Bray family is never that far behind. The action of Season of the Chosen has kept the Vex on the table and has positioned the plot to do much more with it. I suspect we will see some payoff of that in Season of the Splicer in either the free content or the BL expansion. Ok, I know we will. You simply can't bring back Vault of Glass without advancing that story arc.

So, please keep this up, Bungie writers. I know it takes time to shift your approach. While I know you took some grief over Shadowkeep, I did see where I thought you wanted to go with how you told story. You've done very well in getting there, and I'm looking forward to what is to come.

Edit: Good heavens! I didn't expect this to take off. I figured I'd get a handful of thoughtful comments that I could converse with, but there's more than I can hope to answer. Thanks, all!

Bungie, new players deserve what the hell is going on in the story. The new light campaign doesnt show anything, and the 3 DLCs make zero sense without context. This is the biggest flaw of the content vault.

    Posted: 10 May 2021 12:25 PM PDT

I guarantee players would be compelled to buy all the DLC if they understood what the hell was happening, but the new experience does a shit job of explaining anything.

The red war slowly explained every enemy faction and why are they in our solar system. Warmind and CoO were more optional but had decent content.

I know everyone in this sub isnt aware of how much of the story they actually know and how little obvious the plot is for strangers trying to get in the game, and watching a bunch of youtubers is not fun if you dont understand whats in the game.

It's like selling a building set and leaving out the first 50 pages that explained the foundation, and the DLC are only additional setpieces, that are fun but dont understand where the hell do they go.

Edit: I say this as someone with nearly 2000 hours into the game, and tried countless times to get new players into the game and failing for pretty much this reason.

Edit 2: I'll copy paste a reply I made because people dont read.

We went into Titan, and found them deep beneath an abandoned building, the archology. It made sense, it was like an infestation.

In the EDZ, the fallen were trying to get a piece of the traveler, among other things, and also were raiding the area. Hawthorne and Devrim, non guardians, pretty much explained how the fallen were a threat to mortal humans. They were also present when we regained our light, which explains why are they so interested in it when we find them there, and also explains very specific moments in Forsaken.

They were explained further in Nessus, when they were scavenging failsafe the exodus crash, a lost colony ship that crashed. In the same planetoid, we found the Vex doing strange things inside it, which were further explained in the campaign.

The red war also showed us Cayde, the catalyst of Forsaken story, where Uldren became relevant in D2, then later killing him.

Shadowkeep literally shows you previous bosses as nightmares, fueled by darkness, from the pyramid ship in the moon, the same ships that appeared in the ending credits.

The Heir Apparently catalyst has been available for 3 weeks...

    Posted: 10 May 2021 10:52 AM PDT

...if it wasn't clear from all the smug comments in response to completely reasonable frustrations.

Look, we get that we had 3 weeks to do this and that it would've taken only a couple hours to complete. For one reason or another, we didn't get it done. But there is a reasonable assumption for the daily focus rotation to continue until the last day of the event, which is today's reset according to the latest roadmap update. So of course it's going to be frustrating when that's suddenly gone, especially when all other aspects of Guardian Games are seemingly still active.

And even if you don't see it as a reasonable frustration, maybe try to have some empathy? Consider stepping back and just thinking, "I'm glad I got my catalyst, sucks that you didn't". It's not like you're really adding any value to the discussion otherwise... all you're adding is negativity to people who are already annoyed. Basically the equivalent of "I told you so" - and I imagine a lot of people writing these comments are exactly the type of people to jump at opportunities to rub it in in real life.

    Twas the night before Splicer

    Posted: 10 May 2021 05:52 PM PDT

    Twas the night before Splicer, when all through the fallen Some creatures were stirring, especially the Smallen. The stockings were hung by the servitors with care, In hopes that Mithrax soon would be there;

The smallen were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of ether danced in their heads; With Ada and her Loom, my ornaments have a cap, Transmog is here, but I guess I'll just nap,

When out on the net there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the game room I flew like a flash, I open epic games and threw up in the trash.

The moon on the crest of a new Fallen story Gave the lustre of launch-day much to my glory When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, A mirage of an update, and eight NPCs with new gear.

    With little old Bungie, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment I must call in sick. More rapid than sparrows on SRL courses they came, And we whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Zavala! now, Ikora! now, Shaxx and Crow! On, Drifter! on Rahool! on Hawthorne and Louis! To the top of the hanger! to the top of the tower! Now get larger! Get larger! Get larger my power!"

    So up to the HELM the Vandals they flew, With a Ketch full of tech, and Mithrax too. He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his loot, And his cloak was all torn with ashes to boot;

A bundle of hatchlings he had flung on his back, And he looked like a savior just opening his pack. His eyes -- how they twinkled! his shotgun, how fierce! It's fire like roses, Lord of Wolves once caused tears!

    He was muscled and fit, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself; A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon let Saint know he had nothing to dread;

    He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, He filled all the rooms in the HELM and turned with a jerk, And laying his hand on top of his host And giving a nod, up the elevator he rose;

He sprang to his ketch, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the Gjallarhorn, a missile. But I heard him exclaim, when he flew out of sight, HAPPY HUNTING TO ALL, AND TO ALL AN ENDLESS-NIGHT!

Barrier Sniper, Farewell. Overload SMG, GOOD RIDDANCE.

    Posted: 10 May 2021 03:40 PM PDT

What kind of buffoon is capable of programming such a beautiful, convenient and easy-to-use mod like Anti-Barrier Sniper, where all it takes is one simple click or right-trigger press to pop a shield, but also programs a mod like Overload SMG, where, upon firing the gun at the Overload Minotaur that is going to ram his regenerating, teleporting Void Cannon so far up your Guardian's ass that you'll be lucky if you get disintegrated before you feel anything, the weapon decides to do all the following before being able to stun the Champion:

    - Do its taxes

    - Graduate from an Ivy League college with several PHDs

    - Start and raise a loving family with another Overload user

    - Find and mass-produce a cure for cancer

    - Write a 10,000 word essay describing how green grass in a classic novel is actually a subtle representation of the evils of capitalism

    - Get a perfect Triumph score and gild all Titles

And THEN it fires one or two rounds that can actually stun Champions, at which point you will either be dead, or the Minotaur anime-teleports at the last second before giving your noggin a Darkness-infused bonk.

To you, I say good riddance, and bring on the new mods. Personally, I would love to see Overload Fusions next! Imagine how Telesto could break the game.

Full Auto should be an accessibility toggle

    Posted: 10 May 2021 03:08 PM PDT

tldr: Full Auto is first and foremost an accessibility and QOL perk that would be better off as a toggle in the menus, as it creates accessibility problems when it's only available as a random drop perk.

To begin with, sidearms have major issues with accessibility and Full Auto. Precision, Adaptive, and Lightweight sidearms range from 260 to 360 rounds per minute, putting them in a range of firerates that for some players can vary from difficult to execute to entirely impossible to use at all. Full Auto being a random drop perk makes these weapons frustrating to use, due to their biggest accessibility feature being locked behind RNG. Pulses and scouts also run into similar issues, though slightly less glaring.

At the end of the day, I think the best way to resolve this issue is to add a per-weapon toggle in the game to ensure that a QOL feature is reliably accessible to anyone who needs it, without having to go through RNG and burn a trait slot on making a weapon usable.

Please hotfix in Strike Daily Focus to let players finish Heir Apparent quests

    Posted: 10 May 2021 10:29 AM PDT

Edit 2: DAILY FOCUS IS BACK. Go grind out your quest in strikes!!! GG thanks Bungie!

Edit: Bungie has acknowledged the daily focus isn't active. Here's to hoping it comes back for enough time to complete the quest.

    https://twitter.com/bungiehelp/status/1391831678662811657?s=21

Road map says that the closing ceremonies last until May 11th. At reset there was no daily focus, and in the rotation it should be strikes. Please hot fix in (if possible) strike daily focus let people finish up the Heir Apparent quests. Even the guardian games strike playlist is still active, not sure why daily focus just abruptly stopped.

This Week at Not Bungie - 5/10/2021 - AI Learning, Autocomplete-Generated TWAB

    Posted: 10 May 2021 08:00 AM PDT

You might know how this goes by now. I run a few TWAB articles into the Botnik predictive writer, which can generate sentences in an autocomplete fashion based on what you feed it.

Not Bungie has a website! All articles that have already seen their time on Reddit can be read over on https://notbungie.net/

THIS WEEK AT NOT BUNGIE - 5/10/2021

This Week at Not Bungie, there will be three weapons left in the Crucible after players unlock new weapons.

With Ada-1 returning to ensure your repurchased transmog system is coming soon to Mike, hopefully you get your favorite looks rebuilt with surplus appearances for your Platinum Modules that will be earned from Eververse Shader Bucket Energy. Players who can't stop Eververse can redeem progress toward synthweave per 2500 rifles deposited at the podium eventually. Before we get too deep in the Presage multiplayer emote, our known issues article is coming soon when players hip fire their primeval fusion rifles at Zavala for losing guardian games 2021 to the Player Overhaul Team.

    Guardian Nightmares 2021

Every week was sometimes dropping completions of balance changes called Contender Materials. When we don't want to overcorrect Fashioned Rocks in Eververse that award Synthcord, we nerf fusion rifles while declining options on rocket launcher perks. Players need to test transmog silver cost to earn their universal ornament bundles like 2020 Hunter radar. If you want to lock in your goals for Combat Friday, visit Happy Whitmeyer to exchange 20 glimmer for 450 Synthweave each hour. How many shaders will you erroneously remove from your account in Season of the Bungie?

Armor Synthesis From Poking Your Ghost

With the introduction of Season of Transmog, you can earn points for Combat Flow that can be used to convert four full sets of Glass Rewards into Universal Person Pieces that use Osmosis Cone Distance to earn Synthcord at 10:00 pm on Tuesday for individual Cloak Notes that provide faster swap speed for Synthstrand when defeating Transmog Goblin Bosses that drop Hot Errors which earn Armor Appearance Families that will focus into 2 Synthweave per 30 weeks. We don't want to overcorrect this and will look at some exceptions next year.

    Changes of the Week

We will be available as part of Bungie Sessions planned in addition to Season of the Chase. Transmog is right now. Armor glows were developed with your fellow Hunters in mind. Due to the overhaul of your team advantage, we need to nerf every Warlock on bungie.net. Here to take our hardware until you enjoy Crucible is Senior Champion Shredding Sidearm, Awesome Ming.

Awesome: Players who observe their prize above the tower after completing Guardian Games can track the Splicer page on bungie.net for good luck. With the upcoming nerf to all weapons incoming, we wanted to make sure you are ready to get kicked to orbit for completing Grandmaster Nightfalls. Here is a list of items associated with guardians.

    • Adjusted Titans to go along with your unpopular choice in PvE. Titans will now always appear immediately ready to bang the Splicer lifestyle.

    • Adjusted Hunters to ensure that players no longer need to wait 300 hours when frozen in the Crucible. Hunters now have expanded vortex coverage that will wildly forget which team cast Silence & Babies.

    • Adjusted Warlocks throughout the community that couldn't be the cause of pulse rifle nerf increases. Warlocks now have some limitations on where they can see everything through their rift.

    • Increased Crucible matches to 35 hours for every frozen guardian.

    • Decreased gambit matches to 77,000 days after each team summons their baby Primeval. Gambit matches no longer take 1250 hours to bank motes for small blockers.

    • Reduced hand cannon range to 2.5 hands and 3 cannons.

    • Increased this note to go after 6. This note can conflict with Empress Caiatl and cause confusion among Cabal. This is always bugged.

    • Increased auto rifles to go through your teammates and continue into Warlocks.

    • Reduced shotguns to ensure some fun will happen in PvP.

    • Reduced all Stasis subclasses to prepare for teleporting subclasses that kill players who observe other players.

    • Increased dmg04 at 12 am to ensure you can redeem everything from Ada-1 for 4 bright dust.

    • Adjusted Cozmo to help your shaders. Cozmo can now complete the final seasonal challenge.

    • Adjusted Bungie employees to progress the associated triumph for Combat Kids before 2021.

Thanks for shredding my fellow Hunters!

    Movie of the World

This is always a fun topic to purchase things off of. These videos, created by donating large amounts silver to the sandbox team, are now standalone items in the season pass. Let's get your power level in the orbs!

Movie of the Splicer: Babies Will Now Grant Ammo

Honorable Shaders That Saladin Introduced: Will Work for Hydras

If you want to lock that emblem in the TWAB, submit your guardian for different bow-based meal materials.

Another week at Bungie and Warlocks think they will receive glimmer. Hunters are off looking for battery scannables in the Presage mission but also found time to investigate a future TWAB where we show off the bottom of the Splicer Weasel. We currently have time to make no changes to Stasis Hunters and now the Titans are making babies. Next season will also receive correctly redeemed Synthweave for every enemy you want to bump perks with. Same time next year!

Trials is Endgame PvP... yet it is a hundred times more inaccessible as the Endgame PvE

Grandmasters are so welcoming... well, at least much more than Trials. You can finish a Grandmaster Ordeal with enough time and patience. Trials is just... painful. There is no guarantee you'll ever even get to 3 wins. It's seen as completely unreachable to most of players; including PvP mains.

A warning to all light-sensitive guardians for tomorrow
