    Trials of Osiris are LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

Took me nearly 4 years and multiple playthroughs of this campaign to realise that the consul has his armour adorned with dead ghosts. Spoopy boi.

After playing some strikes in D1 again.. we really need Small Arms and Specialist modifiers to return in some form.

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 01:02 PM PDT

These modifiers make running strikes a lot more fun. Obviously D2 does feel different and it's much easier to melt things now.. but I think Bungie could make it work. Important to remember.. when one of these were active, the other weapons did 50% less damage. So it's not like Heavyweight and it wouldn't break the game. It'd be interesting to have them pop up in nightfall ordeals as well to force people to switch up load outs. Come on Bungie, please?

Enemy houses should be brought back

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 05:16 AM PDT

One of the most jarring things I noticed in my first playthrough of Destiny 2 was the lack of visual variety in the game. You guys should remember the five enemy fallen houses: Devils (red - Earth), Kings (yellow - Earth), Exile (green - Moon), Winter (blue - Venus), and Wolves (blue). Yes, yes, I know we've finished most of them off in D1 missions lore-wise (and other shenanigans like Uldren), but I just can't help but feel that that can't be it...

Even for the Cabal, we mainly see the Red Legion throughout the system, and they're so damn omnipresent. I also recalled you being able to see the class of enemy that killed you on the "Guardian Down" screen in D1. Now that they removed it, it's as if they wanted to forget about it.

TLDR - I thought it'd be kinda interesting if they'd make more specific enemy houses like in D1

The Shadowkeep Launch Trailer music and footage has been changed

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 03:44 PM PDT

    https://youtu.be/LFYJTudJ540

In addition to the music changes, the Season Of The Undying footage has been removed from the trailer, with the exception of the shot of the Black Garden invasion portal. The Festering Core footage also remains, despite the fact that this strike will be entering the Destiny Content Vault.

This doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, just interesting to see that the marketing has been updated almost a year after its release, and several weeks before the release of the following expansion.

    Titan Exotic Gauntlets (Concept)

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 12:56 PM PDT

    First post here!

Titan reading this, are you tired of chasing your throwing hammer around whenever you accidentally yeet it over to the other side of a mountain?

    I bring you...

Exotic Titan Gauntlets that allow you to recall your throwing hammer.

The idea is that you'd hold melee to recall (if you miss) and it could automatically come back to you on direct hits. You wouldn't be able to shoot while it's flying back to your hand to balance this out.

I'm new to creating digital art so please excuse the rough work!

What are some basic lore/easter egg things you feel most people miss in the Destiny universe that aren't too in depth?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 10:37 AM PDT

    • Midnight Coup gets its name from Ghaul staging a coup on Calus in the middle of the night. Many might miss the fact that Ghaul is in power in the D2 campaign because he stole the throne from Calus years prior, and exiled him onto the Leviathan (a big cabal ship), then sent it on a pre programmed destination far away. Calus makes the menagerie his "home" during his exile. Eater of worlds also gets its name because the Leviathan ship is big enough to literally eat small planets

    • Crown of Sorrows has name significance shown in the very end. After you beat the final boss, the crown falls off its head and you can walk inside of it and see hive rune symbols. Calus wanted Ghalran to take control of the hive using the crown, but Savathun was one step ahead and manipulated it to drive Ghalran mad, so Calus recruits us to take him down.

    • Savathun is the sister of Oryx, aunt of Crota and Nokris (strange terrain strike boss), and mother of Dul Incaru (shattered throne final boss)

    • When reloading xenophage, players can see a small bug inside of the chamber - this bug is Omar, a hunter from Eris' fireteam who was experimented on by Hive

    • Toland was the creator of Bad Juju, and another member of Eris' fireteam. He tried to befriend the deathsingers (like the one you see right before you face crota in his raid) due to his Hive fascination, but they destroyed his body - his soul remains in the ascendant realm which is how you are able to communicate with him in his little white ball form

The Vex are no longer intimidating.

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 01:23 PM PDT

This is mostly just me reminiscing on the first time we encountered the Vex out in the Venus wilds, and how fucking terrifying they were.

The music turned ominous, the sunlight got a little dimmer, and suddenly there are ranks upon ranks of deliberately slow-moving robots with piercing red eyes closing in, showing no signs of abating.

I vividly remember backing into a corner and hastily changing my loadout to something that would be effective against them, all while they slowly turned the corner to find me. And then that meeting with the Exo Stranger, who crushed a Vex chassis with her boot and fucked off to who-knows-when.

I feel like the current formula of "stand on a plate, summon a couple waves of Vex to kill" has really detracted from the intimidation factor, and I hope that at some point we regain that feeling that we're encroaching on their territory. Because the only real reason the Vex ever attack us is because we're messing with their machines. I just really don't think fighting them should feel like taking the trash out.

The Vex have a ton of potential to be a terrifying expression of the Final Shape and I'm tired of sweeping them up like they're nothing.

That's my two cents. Thank you for reading.

I feel pretty confident in saying that without addressing the heavy ammo economy in Gambit it will still be a broken mode that will continue to be a novelty over a key game mode, even with the announced changes.

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 09:48 PM PDT

All the adjustments in the twab a couple weeks back were ok and tweaked some needed areas, however I really hope they forgot to mention a heavy ammo adjustment. It really is the reason the game mode turns people off to the mode.

Some may say that invading is the problem. I would say that the heavy ammo the invader can get so quickly is a larger problem. If they can invade and get 4 sniper kills.....kudos and move on. However Truth and other annoying heavy weapons.....

I liked Gambit enough to get Reckoner, but always left each match with a distaste for the heavy ammo economy and how far it can swing the game.

Okay, Bungie. I understand that you don’t want to make anymore pinnacles because of how overpowered the unique perks are for most of them, but could you please think about bringing back the few that aren’t overpowered? Maybe even as random rolls?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 03:28 PM PDT

Onslaught, Reservoir burst, Meganeura and Archer's Gambit.

There is nothing wrong with these perks. You could possibly even expand upon some of them, like a Machine Gun with Onslaught or a Linear Fusion Rifle with Reservoir Burst.

And if you do consider this, I have three words for you: Please buff Meganeura.

With Iron Banner around the corner again, thought I'd share some advice with a practical example of why controlling 2 zones is important in Control

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 11:18 PM PDT

    https://imgur.com/kbAdQnP

Was blessed to be on a pretty decent team...except none of them went for a single zone after 4 of us captured original zone C on Altar of Flame. They just bunkered down there while the enemy team farmed us.

Thought I'd take a closer of the game's stats on Destinytracker as it seemed like some average average KD's on most of the opponent's teams. the pure kill score minus assists was 74/87 in our favor.

We killed more of them, died less yet in the game's score we were thumped by 59 points because people still don't understand the importance of zone advantage in Control all these years later.

Maybe a bit out of exasperation of how this is a constant thing to this day I thought I'd spend about 10mins doing this write-up.

Here is how scoring in control works for your team (not your personal score in the post-game):

    • Zone capture regardless of how many people are on the zone: +1 point
    • Kills with zero or one zone capture: +1 point
    • Advantage final blow while two zones are captured: +2 points
    • Power play final blow kills while three zones are captured: +3 points

It can probably be a bit overwhelming when you see constant +1's, +2's and +3's on your screen for final blows AND assists making you think your team score is going up like a rocket till reality kicks in, but the most important part of the scoring is that your kills value effectively doubles the scoring towards the team regardless of how many people assist and get the notification too. Just because you're teamshotting and you all see a score pop up while the other team has advantage...if your opponent scraped off a trade during that play they effectively contributed double the points to their team.

Same logic for capturing zones. while the more people on the point makes the capture faster, it will only be a +1 so it's OK for some people to leave that zone to take defensive positions to cover the capture.

Most of the time the scorecard is fairly clear who deserved to win, but it can be a bit misleading with how it doesn't quite align with the stats provided.

TLDR: Not prioritising zone advantage whenever you are able to can and will cost you a lot of games you should otherwise be winning. I look forward to experiencing more of this pain next week as I chase my 1060 boots for another week.

    Anyone remember flaming head effects?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 09:15 PM PDT

Bungie this is seriously the biggest issue leading up to beyond light.. /s but keep reading

Consider bringing back flaming head effects for completing the nightfall, like in d1. Or more interestingly, each level of the ordeal gets you a flaming head, but they go through the colors of rarity.

So, the ordeal could grant flame effects like this:

Adept - No flames, easiest tier Hero - Green flames (uncommon) Legend - Blue flames (Rare) Master - Purple flames (Legendary) Grand Master - Yellow/gold flames (Exotic)

It would also be nice to see these come back with an option to toggle them, and when you complete one tier all the previous tiers flames get unlocked for you as well. I know this probably isn't the highest priority, but man it was cool to walk around with a flaming head back in the day. Wow I just used "back in the day " for D1.

anyways, that's it. That's the post. Thoughts?

    Beyond Light Discount

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 10:30 AM PDT

So yesterday I noticed on the xbox game store that game pass owners can get a 10% discount on pre-orders of any version of Beyond Light (since Beyond Light is coming to game pass). I got in touch with microsoft support and found out that you need to cancel your pre-order and pre-order it again to get that discounted price. Save some money!

Edit: Yes Beyond Light will be on game pass but that is just the base version which doesn't include season passes like other versions. I am just saying if you did pre-order a different version, you can still save some money

Edit 2: You can also get a 10% discount on silver!

You can get Tommy's Matchbook here for example, which I did today.

Edit; As mentioned belov, this applies only to the season before the current, so Tommy's Matchbook

So real quick story regarding Falling Guillotine

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 02:23 PM PDT

So about a month or 2 ago my raid group and I we're doing the Falling Guillotine Riven cheese trying to get some of our members 1k (still don't have it lmao). So we kill Riven and start Queens walk expecting to just finish in like 1-5 tries given that it's usually a memefest whenever we raid, but that was not the case this time. So first run or 2 we think everything is normal and we're just dying to some random enemies or some bs of the sort, until our 3rd or 4th run where the first person with the heart drops out of Riven's mouth and just disappears with the heart in tow. Granted we all kind of laugh it off as "Haha perfect game with absolutely no bugs," until it happens 2 more times. Now we're getting pissed, and kind of realizing that we've been dying in groups or glitches are happening a little TOO often. So after yet another wipe and 45 minutes into trying Queenswalk, we all kind of pause and try to figure out what the hell is happening. We first check different forums and discords seeing if theres any issues with the raid, and we find nothing. So after this one of us has the bright idea to check our gear and, sure enough, we all have Falling Guillotine equipped. So our raid lead asks us to take off the sword, first time through we complete it, no issues. Run the cheese again, swap off Guillotine before Queens walk, no issues again other than maybe someone dies at some point. We have not run queenswalk with the sword equipped since and have not had issues since

TL:DR Falling Guillotine might break Queenswalk for some unknown reason
