Contrary to popular belief, Lightning grenades do NOT harm the user

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 01:58 PM PDT

There was a post where the joke was essentially "haha I got a 6 man Thundercrash then killed myself with my own Lightning grenade."

Except he didn't. Because you can't.

I pointed this out and got downvotes galore. So you know what, fuck it. I'm proving it.

    https://imgur.com/a/jKbbcfp

Yeah I stand there for a few seconds as I was futzing about, sue me.

Point being, in PvP or PvE if you're weak you can toss a Lightning right on your face to punish anyone who's pushing your position. Apparently everyone around strongly feels that it hurts you just because it did in D1, and grenades like Pulse does.

But they're wrong. And to all the downvoters, you know who you are and you're a hair's breadth from the "Taken Blight heroic public event is RNG" guy.

The end of every Dungeon can be seen from their first encounter

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 02:00 PM PDT

    Fun Destiny design fact.

In Shattered Throne, the tower you climb to kill the Dul Incaru is the first thing you see when passing through the big doors that lead to the first encounter.

In Pit of Heresy, the first encounter takes place on the side of a massive chasm. If you look far down, you can see the final boss arena where you fight Zulmak.

In Prophecy, there's no way to realistically "show" the final boss space, as everything is all teleporty and there's not really a linear progression. Instead, the final boss itself, the Kell Echo, appears to you, teasing the final encounter right out of the gates.

The new strikes in Beyond Light need to have a nightfall exclusive drop and an emblem with a variant.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 05:49 AM PDT

That is the bare minimum we should expect with ALL new strikes going forward including the returning D1 strikes. The fact that we didn't even get an emblem for Broodhold, Festering Core and Scarlet Keep really bugged me let alone not having a loot drop. I mean shit with Will of Crota and Fallen S.A.B.E.R you could just reskin Grasp of Malok and Baron's Ambition and I highly doubt anyone most people would mind. Strikes don't get enough love in general but I remember when Shadowkeep came out being so excited to grind the new nightfalls for the new emblem and loot and I was so let down to see there was neither.

Edit: While I agree that general strike specific loot would be preferable I think its more realistic to expect them to stick with a formula they have already established in the game.

Heyyy Bungie, just a little reminder for Beyond Light!

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 09:06 AM PDT

We used to be a thing! Bring us back!

Edit: Just to clarify, because there seems to be some that can't seem to grasp the idea of strike specific loot, either that or they've never played D1, this is not a post asking for the specific gear and weapons pictured. Those are just a reference of what used to be and what should come back to the game...STRIKE SPECIFIC LOOT. Let's not lose focus people!

Edit 2: Thanks for the cool awards

    Stasis Spotlight: Warlock Shadebinder

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 09:02 AM PDT

    Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/49482

    Image Linkimgur

Welcome to the first in a series of Stasis spotlight articles, where we'll be taking a look at Stasis via each of the three Guardian classes in Destiny 2. Stasis is the first new elemental power to Destiny since the original trio of Arc, Solar, and Void, and its introduction in BeyondLight will have ramifications for players across all aspects of the game, from narrative to combat , to the way in which players will customize their Guardians.

Each Guardian class will feature a new Stasis subclass with BeyondLight and, as you might expect, each class will use Stasis in a unique way. Stasis is the domain of control; an elemental power that is less about outright aggression and more about careful control of enemy combatants and space -- sometimes even using the powers of Stasis in a defensive way. Hunters zipping by in the blink of an eye while slowing down opponents in Stasis fields. Titans smashing their fists to the ground, launching jagged eruptions of Stasis crystals from the earth.

No matter which class you prefer, Stasis will change the way you play Destiny 2.

By commanding Stasis in Beyond Light, players will have access to new powers that change their approach to a fight. In combat, Stasis can manifest in multiple ways, including freezing or slowing opponents, creating crystalline Stasis structures, and even shattering frozen combatants. This range of options give players more ability to control large-scale fights than ever before.

    Image Linkimgur

No class embodies the concept of "freezing" better than the Warlock Shadebinder. Imbued by Stasis energy, the Shadebinder can summon a Stasis staff that fires projectiles which can freeze opponents, immediately rendering them immobile. The Shadebinder's Penumbral Blast melee attack is a quick burst of Stasis energy that erupts from the staff and instantly freezes anyone it hits. From there, the Warlock can either deal with the frozen foes, or leave them be and move on to other more immediate threats.

If you're looking to combine freezing with destruction, look no further than the Shadebinder's Super: Winter's Wrath. Here, the Shadebinder summons their Stasis staff and fires projectiles that instantly freeze opponents. The second stage begins (and the fight ends) when the Guardian raises the staff, detonates its Stasis crystal and sends a devastating Shatter Shockwave that disintegrates nearby frozen opponents.

    Customizing Stasis

If you've played Destiny for long enough, you know that choosing the right subclass for each situation can be crucial to the outcome of a fight. Titans have their bubbles, Warlocks have their Wells; skilled Guardians know how important those abilities can be in a pinch. With BeyondLight and Stasis, we're giving you even more flexibility to customize your subclass to your style of play.

    Image Linkimgur

Each Stasis subclass in Beyond Light will give players the ability to customize abilities like grenades, movement modes, class abilities, and so on with. In addition, we've added new layers of customization with the addition of Aspects and Fragments.

Aspects manifest as physical items in the world (such as a crystallized Vex conflux or a robotic Fallen arm, for example). When slotted in, Aspects will offer players new abilities, among other effects. These abilities can be mixed and matched freely by the player. Many Aspects will have space for Fragments to be slotted in. Fragments are also physical items you can discover in the world that, when applied to Aspects, offer additional passive perks such as stat bonuses that may come with penalties. Aspect upgrades are unique to each Stasis subclass, while Fragment slots are class agnostic; how players combine these two different types of upgrades will lead to a range of customization options.

    Image Linkimgur

    Image Linkimgur

For example, a Warlock finds a Frostpulse Aspect in the world and equips it. This Aspect augments their Rift ability, which now freezes any enemies caught in the field. The Frostpulse Aspect also has a Fragment slot available, allowing further customization. This Warlock decides to slot in the Whisper of Refraction Fragment that replenishes some of their class ability energy upon shattering enemies. They have now set themselves up with a nice 1-2 punch and, if played skillfully, can use this combo frequently.

With its focus on freezing and shattering, the Shadebinder subclass promises to give Guardians yet another reason to love their floaty, book-loving Warlocks. But no matter what class you like, all players will be able to take advantage of Aspects and Fragments that unlock even more ways to make your Guardian yours.

In our next article, coming this Thursday, we'll be pointing the Stasis spotlight at the class that loves to punch first and ask questions later: the Titan Behemoth. In the meantime, check out the Stasis hub page to learn more about Stasis.

The Scalability and Versatility of Stasis Subclasses Choice Design is incredible for expandability in Seasons and Years after Beyond Light.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 11:25 AM PDT

What am I talking about? Unlike the subclasses at present time and unlike Destiny 1 subclasses, new perks can be added in the forms of Aspects and Fragments. Because they say these objects come from the world, Bungie have given themselves the ability to expand the pool of available options at any time. Because of the way they allow you to choose you abilities, they can add an entire new melee, grenade, or super of a given element without needing to create an entire subclass node (something that was a limiting factor in both D1 and D2). This is so incredible for the future of the franchise.

While I don't expect new Abilities necessarily in off seasons, new Aspects and Fragments seem to be the same style of design as Exotics and Seasonsl Armor 2.0 Mods. I'm not saying this will happen, but they have left the ground work open for it to happen. This opens the field for even bigger customization options in the future.

This system seems to be able to adapt the original Elemental Subclasses pretty well too. The nodes can easily be broken down between the Ability selection area, the Aspects, and the Fragments. The biggest issue might be creating enough Aspects and Fragments to match the number Stasis has.

The modularity of this ststem is incredible not just for player choice but for Bungie to design with.

    Overload works on Guardians

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 04:48 AM PDT

Someone asked about oppresive darkness in pvp, i also wanted to share what I learned about overload too

As someone who studies crucible builds, here are my findings:

Yes, Oppressive does apply in every activity. No the initial damage applies the debuff, all damage for 4 seconds after that will be increased. Axion bolt is the least optimal grenade to use with Oppressive darkness. Vortex is definitely the way to go, because it refreshes the debuff every tick of damage they take from it.

Something that most people also dont know:

The disruption mod for overload champions also works on guardians, and their is a mod that let's your void grenades do disruption damage too. Disruption's effect on guardians is as follows:

Delayed health regeneration for its duration. Delayed ability regeneration for its duration. Delayed super regeneration for its duration. Reduced outgoing damage while having the disrupted debuff.

Stacking the overload grenades on your chestplate, with oppressive darkness on your bond, all combined with top tree voidwalker's overcharged grenades will make a simple vortex grenade into the most terrifying field of death possible. TTK inside it less than 1 second, and anyone who dies from it will explode due to the Bloom perk as well.

EDIT: Forgot that overload also reduces outgoing damage of those impaired by it.

All Stasis Abilities We've Seen So Far (With Gifs and Images!)

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 01:27 PM PDT

For ability layouts, you can see the three grenade options listed in today's Warlock reveal along with three jump options, two class abilities, and one melee. Look at the small white squares under the abilities in the top row to see where I'm getting these numbers from.

There's a currently unknown amount of Aspects/Fragments to be unlocked, but only 2 Aspects and 'up to' 6 Fragments can be equipped at a time as there is 2 Aspect slots and each Aspect can have up to 3 Fragment slots. This can be seen here where Fragment Slots are under the Aspect image with 1 of 3 highlighted.

There appears to be only one super per class, but this can be augmented by Aspects: more on this later.

It appears now that all three classes will be sharing the same three grenades (speculation, not confirmed).

Each class has one base melee ability that may be augmented by various Aspects. These base melee abilities are:

    • Warlocks - A projectile launched from a staff that freezes combatants on hit
    • Titans - A lunging super man punch with more range than shoulder charge. Doesn't appear to one shot, but it shatters frozen enemies or knocks back unfrozen enemies on hit.
    • Hunters - Two ninja stars that may be thrown separately. Appears to slow/suppress on the first hit and freeze on a follow up.

Each super appears to have a one base form that can be potentially be augmented with Aspects.

    • Warlocks - Winter's Wrath: Launch projectiles from your staff to freeze targets then shatter targets in an AoE around you.
    • Titans - Glacial Quake: Slam the ground to produce 3 fracture lines from you causing ice spikes to erupt from the ground and freeze enemies. Light attacks on frozen enemies do bonus damage (see yellow numbers in Glacial Quake gif).
    • Hunters - Silence and Squall: Throw two kamas at your enemies. The first leaves a giant AoE stasis field while the second freezes/shatters enemies.

Potential Aspects we've seen so far - in no particular order.

    Two confirmed Fragments:

    • Gain super energy when killing frozen enemies with guns.
    • Gain class ability energy when shattering frozen enemies.

Thanks to Kayla, u/Mblim771_Kyle, for all the gif's you see here!

Why are people complaining about getting too many Umbral engrams?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 02:29 AM PDT

Seriously, title! I've started to see loads of threads and comments on threads about people getting their inventories full of Umbral engrams. I'm getting like 2-3 per session, the drop-rates are abysmall and I still have TONS of weapons/guns that I want good rolls (and god-rolls) for. I get like 1 Umbral/Hour.

I don't get it, why are you all complaining about getting too many Umbrals? Is it my RNG that is just SO bad that I'm actually getting shafted?

I hope today’s Shadebinder reveal gives us a glimpse of what the subclass customization will be like.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 06:56 AM PDT

I don't want to know every single ability we can choose, but rather how extensively we'll be able to pick what abilities we want to use. Anybody who has played Destiny 1 knows what I'm referring to, although the UI of that system was pretty clunky and could use some touch-ups.

Both that system and the current system have their advantages and disadvantages, but this will definitely be a nice change, and hopefully one that is well-received for maybe future subclass adjustments.

EDIT: Link has been posted for it if you haven't seen it yet: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/49482

It's not a very long read so definitely give it a look. Everything looks very clean and there is even more depth than D1 provided!

Destiny 2 is a PvE game before a PvP game

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 09:06 PM PDT

I don't know who needs to hear this but it's true. I'm not trying to start a huge argument because I feel like this is something the community has a general consensus on.

I've always felt that Crucible was an afterthought compared to the rest of the game. Strikes, raids, and dungeons specifically, and even going further back to D1 with just raids and strikes. I mean PvP has rarely ever been balanced and with Beyond Light coming out in a few months with Stasis along with it that just shows how much of a PvE first game this is.

I'm not bashing Bungie for breaking PvP with stasis like I've seen so many other posts doing, I'm making this post as a sort of rebuttal to those kinds of posts. Like it or not, Destiny is a PvE over PvP game. A lot of people have already accepeted that but for the few who haven't, the sooner you come to terms with this, the better.

I and get this game has a hardcore and dedicated PvP playerbase that will bitch and moan every time something clearly designed for PvE will break PvP. Bungie makes their decisions thinking about PvE first because that's what brings in a majority of their players. That's what keeps a lot of people playing.

So basically, before you get mad that Bungie is breaking PvP with ice remember that this expansion is do or die for Bungie so they're going all out with the PvE stuff.

I'm sorry this is very poorly articulated I just got off of work and am very tired but I was talking about this with some friends. If you'd like I can always further articulate myself in the comments and responses. If you're dick though I guess.... I'll entertain the thought of responding to you

EDIT: I should clarify I am not saying I personally think PvE is more important than PvP, I'm saying that Bungie puts more time and resources into PvE and in their minds it's a PvE first experience

Refurbished Black Armory Shader Needs The Sleeper Node Treatment

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 04:02 PM PDT

The Refurbished Black Armory (RBA) shader has just as much randomness tied to its acquisition as the Sleeper Nodes. The only thing that differs between the two when it comes to importance, is that the RBA shader is needed for the Blacksmith title.

Now that Sleeper Nodes have gotten their form of a fix/acknowledgement, maybe the RBA shader and those chasing it can get some now too?

The shader is necessary for the Blacksmith title since its in the Black Armory collections badge. The shader only drops from Prototype forge weapons, which only have a CHANCE to drop from forge completions. So the randomness of acquiring the shader stacks on itself, along with the drop rate being ridiculously low.

Grinding the forges for weeks and dismantling well over 100 prototype weapons has gotten me nowhere. And the deadline by which we need to have this done gets closer every day.

Any chance we can see this get some attention?

50 straight games of pvp on 1 character. Heres the Map rotation breakdown

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 08:03 AM PDT

All games played in control, elim and mix which immediately removes emperors respite, eternity, gamblers ruin, and equinox as they arent in those playlists afaik

so 18 of the possible 27 maps were on repeat in those 50 games.

    4 were only played ONCE

    4 were only played TWICE

    4 were played 3 times.

    4 were played 4 times.

2 were played 10 times (edit) 2 maps were played 5 times each

9 were not played AT ALL

Burnout & Retribution 5x (the edit)

Midtown, Fragment, Convergence, Altar of flame 4x

Radiant cliffs, Legion gulch, Javelin4, Fortress 3x

Vostok, Bannerfall, Widows court, Twilight gap 2x

Cauldron, Distant shore, Rusted lands, solitude 1x

Deadcliffs, Meltdown, Wormhaven, Endless vale, Pacifica , Exodus blue, Citadel, Anomaly, Firebase echo 0x

I was half tempted to go another 50 but im burned out. That shit is taxing so while im here i want to shout out any of you who stream hour after hour after hour after hour doing pvp day after day. Hats off you to folks.

Destiny 2 will be one of a few games to introduce new software from Nvidia

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 09:11 AM PDT

Via Nvidia Anniversary livestream event going on right now. It's called Nvidia Reflex, and is supposed to help with response times in games by sharing the workload more efficiently between cpu and gpu. Hopefully we'll get some more info soon.

Edit: Found an article here: https://www.pcgamer.com/nvidia-reflex-latency-analyzer-input-lag/

It seems it's meant to help quantify system latency/input lag between all the different variables within a computer (Monitor, CPU, GPU) and help reduce. Nvidia usually does pretty good work with the software it puts out so definitely something to watch out for!

I remember why we do these grinds.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 11:17 AM PDT

I finished my Mountaintop Quest earlier today. And God, now that I have it...

I remember. I remember why we go through all this tiring, long grinding.

Because the Reward, the feeling of finally having what you wanted, what you worked for with sweat and tears, what you gave everything for - Its irreplacable.

Its a mixture of insane ecstasy, adrenaline, a cocktail of hormones like none other. You stand there, and you know that you've gone through all of this, that it strengthened you, no matter how annoying and shitty the grind was.

And you smile. And youre happy. Youre in relief, in ecstasy and in sadness at once. Its... Nothing one can logically describe, but its amazing.
