Bungie with cutting earn-able bright dust in half please also cut the time needed to complete the weekly bounties in half as well.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 10:13 AM PST

I do not like having to spend just as much time completing them for half the reward. Particularly with gambit might of the traveller bounty - the fucks with this bounty anyway. I used to log on each week to complete these for the bright dust but now I can't be bothered as it takes so long to complete for no reward.

Raid and destination weapons should not be sunset till said raid or destination goes into the DSC.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 06:20 AM PST

Or maybe if they get new sets of perks. Having to regrind the same weapons with the same perks to be able to use them isnt fun.A friend of mine had to run LW 70(ish) times to get a good pvp supremacy roll. Do you think he will enjoy having to do that again lol.

    edit : DCV not DSC

    Pray for us teacher Guardians...

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 05:09 PM PST

I realized today that virtual teaching 6th grade is like sherpa-ing a raid of 20 instead of 6. And they're ALL 6th graders.

Everyone stand on the Google Classroom assignment when the long hand is on the 6 and the short hand is on the 9 (this is an ancient and mysterious code).

"Mooooom!! Brandon won't stop HITTING ME!!"

Follow the pattern of the 16 examples and fill in the blanks of a few things.

WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF!!! WOOF WOOF WOO WOO WOO WOO WOOF!! "DAD can you make Boots stop barking!?"

    Press submit before midnight.

I wish the drifter and eris had a bigger part in the campaign.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 06:47 PM PST

It seemed like they were there for cutscenes and occasionally sat around camp. I don't think they had any meaningful impact on the story. It would have been cool for then to chat with Elsie more about darkness with everyone around. I think the Bray family reunion was worth not having them more, if I had to make a choice between the two.

Another week flies by and Mida Multi Tool’s catalyst still does not drop, and bungie has yet to acknowledge it.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 08:11 AM PST

I went ahead and played a comp match (of course while still 5500) and won and the catalyst did not drop. This is the fifth time I have won a Competitive match while at 5500. The catalyst is intended to have a 100% drop chance when you win a game while at legend Glory rank. Since beyond light, many people have said the same thing, that the catalyst has not dropped when it should, across this subreddit, the forums, and Twitter. Bungie has not acknowledged this as a problem yet, and thus cannot fix it. So, dmg or cozmo, if you could just look in my general direction, that'd be great.

Edit - Hey! If your gonna barge in and claim you've acquired the catalyst, be prepared to give me your in game name and platform so I can look you up and be assured your not lying. Already had a couple people do this and peace out when I asked them for their profile. This shit is why I hate reddit.

Bungie, it is beyond stupid that you have made playable content worthless

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 12:17 AM PST

Just know, this comes from a place of love. Sometimes, ya just gotta sit someone down and tell them "that was not just dumb, it was idiotic. I cannot comprehend that level of stupidity."

Here's the deal: you have a shit ton of content in the game, the problem is (again, for some stupid ass reason) you guys have intentionally made it worthless to play.

The blind well, the shattered throne, pit of heresy, altars of sorrow, nightmare hunts, shadowkeep, forsaken, lecture of enchantment weapons & armour.

All of it, absolutely fantastic content. I loved playing thought this stuff and even grinding it. However. It. Is. WORTHLESS. Why would I bother playing this stuff? There is literally no incentive anymore. I read through y'all reward post a few times and there was nothing about earning sunsetted loot from activities in game.

Honestly, I don't understand it. Why even have this content in the game if you're not going to reward players properly?

Bungie, un-sunset this stuff right now! Cause you were talking about vaulting stuff no one is playing. I think that's a fine way of keeping the game focused, but if this occurs because of some extremely stupid design decision. Then honestly.............. Big bruh moment.

Tldr: if I can play it, it shouldn't reward sunsetted rewards.

The Blasphemer, kinetic slug shotgun, is being dropped at the Altar today...

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 03:21 PM PST

This would be kind of exciting news as how good Slugs are right now, I can very much see people that would be excited to grind the Altar for that slug. However, It's a shame that the Altar loot is already irrelevant.

And I ask, why? its clearly not as good as the Raid slug but that's okay because Raid gear should always be slightly better than most. On top of that, It would also allow a replacement if lets say you never manage a good roll for the raid slug or simply don't like the raid slug, enticing options.

I still stand by some parts of sun-setting in the sense of Seasonal gear, but anyone who buys Forsaken and Shadowkeep will end up sorta only getting the cool story missions essentially.

The Dreaming City and Moon Zone don't even have outrageously powerful gear like Pinnacles to invoke power creep, which was how I primarily justify sun-setting to myself and friends. (Not a single one of us miss MtnTop or Recluse, that is fact lol)

Another good thought I had when writing this, would be that some the moon/city weapons never even had time to shine, for example the Moon High Impact hand-cannon, which they teased pre-Shadowkeep release, but never got to be fully enjoyed as it could now with the recent buff to those hand cannons.

Essentially, Blind Well, Altar of Sorrow, Moon Dungeon, and Dreaming City Dungeon, can all become viable content for good loot, and they don't hinder destiny's data as they're still outside of the DCV, so why not simply use them to both bungie's and our benefit? It would even further diversify the Loot-pool at an appropriate level. As Cayde-6, may he rest in peace, once said "There will be tons of loot!"

It would certainly feel like a win-win for everyone.

Class specific swords should not have been sun setted.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 11:02 AM PST

I've had the same Crown-splitter since I completed the red war campaign in year one and I love that sword. Unfortunately with sun setting I can't use that sword anymore and I think its kind of silly to have these special swords that are exclusive to your class are no longer usable in end game play. Maybe these swords could be an exception.

They are not the best race, but I wouldn't mind seeing some Scorn at some point, just for a little bit, in some current content.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 04:29 PM PST

They are an abandoned race, and yes, I agree they aren't the best one around, but it would be fun to see them every once in a while. Doesn't need to be a focus, but I think they are interesting enough to fight.

Just make the smoke teleporty guys damagable when they are doing that and increase their travel speed to compensate or whatever.

I feel like abandoning them is a waste. They have some cool stuff going on like Screebs and Abominations.

Seeing them a little bit would be cool.

Completed my first ever raid last night!! So happy it finally happened

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 10:58 AM PST

Idk if this is deserving of a post or not, but I'm still overjoyed of my experience so I figured it would be worth mentioning. I've been a Destiny player since D1. I didn't play too much of D1 because none of my friends did so I never did attempt a raid of any sort.

Fast forward to D2, same scenario. None of my friends played it nor wanted to play it. So I played for like the first few months of release then stopped. Never attempted the first raid either. When Beyond Light came out I figured now was a good time to hop back into D2 since there really wasn't much else out there to play that interested me. I became addicted again. Discovered the D2 companion app. Even joined a Discord full of super helpful players.

Last night I saw a post for a full clear on DSC so I figured I'd finally try one out with random people. Told them all I never did the raids so I'll do whatever they tell me to do. The entire group was super helpful with each other, including my noob ass. I was full light level (1264) and had the proper exotics and mods so its not like i wasn't helpful in any fashion. They even helped me get the secret chests in DSC and the Sparrow/Pike Triumph, and all of the hidden echo triumphs. We cleared all stages with a few wipes each time but we were learning as we went. Took us about 2.5 hours and then we defeated the final boss. It was exhilarating. I was super stoked. Something I've always wanted to experience.

I'd love to thank the players individually on here but obviously that's a bad idea to give out names on this thread. Now I cant wait for future raids and back track a couple. Thank you D2 players for being a great community.

Bungie, I really appreciate the “Rewards” update, but it seems that some community sentiments were completely missed

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 07:01 AM PST

Hello all, and hello to any Bungie employee that happens to be reading this. I was originally thinking of writing a post a few weeks ago describing how the loot situation and the sunsetting situation has been completely bungled, but the post from Joe Blackburn was an unexpected surprise that has moved progress forward, at least in some respects. I will be quoting the TWAB extensively throughout the post.

Edit: For those who have visited this post already, I have added an addendum after getting some rest and reading comments. The addendum is below the original post.

    Weapon Sunsetting

You can search the posts on this subreddit and find post after post after post from concerned community members. Some were more frustrated than others, and some were definitely more "constructive" than others. However, it is feedback all the same, and it all ideally was going to be said anyway, regardless of medium.

It is blatantly obvious from the TWAB that Luke Smith, Joe, or whoever is calling the shots, is intent on doubling-down on weapon sunsetting in the same kind of way that other bad decisions in the game were doubled-down on before being removed in a further expansion. This is the kind of thing that leaves people especially frustrated with the state of the game, it turns into vitriol and eventually quitting the game completely―something that is not good for Bungie. Not good from a financial standpoint as that player (and perhaps their friend group) stops investing any money into game content. It is also not good for community health, for obvious reasons.

Some lines that I specifically want to address:

"Introducing Infusion Caps is part of addressing this, a way to make sure that the overall number of rewards Guardians need to care about in order to be competitive in Destiny isn't prohibitive."

The gun-play of Destiny 2 is often cited as one of its strong points. Not every player in the game uses a weapon purely because of the perks it was curated or rolled with. The way the weapon feels, looks, and sounds are important in making it unique compared to other weapons, even when other weapons are within the same archetype. The mentioning of weapon archetype is intentional and will be addressed later.

From the very first weapon a New Light (or returning) player picks up, they begin building their collection over time. Players, at least previous to the introduction to sunsetting, have probably spent a lot of time grinding weapon rolls to find their "perfect" weapon. This is time spent in the game grinding for something that they intended to keep indefinitely. The introduction of weapon sunsetting has rendered this grind a waste of time, and a slap in the face to the player base. Nobody enjoys wasting their time for nothing. There is a reason why a lot of people in the community see weapon sunsetting as an entirely arbitrary and just an arbitrary way to keep them grinding for the sake of grinding.

The weapon archetype system (all signs point to it being a weapon class system) appears to render the concern of Guardians needing to keep track of so many items to remain competitive as moot. Not all weapons are the same, but I believe that weapons within the same archetype (excluding rituals and pinnacles) should be relatively the same. An example: Lightweight Frame grenade launchers. Not all weapons might have the same perk pools to choose from, but it should not make a drastic difference. Weapons that are no longer in the world loot pool or special activities are a lot less of an issue as long as a weapon within the same archetype and type (kinetic/energy/heavy) is available.

I will give an example, one where sunsetting has affected me personally: The Militia's Birthright, compared to Season of Arrivals Truthteller. Militia's Birthright has fewer perks that it can roll with, but both weapons can roll with "good perks" – Spike Grenades, Blinding Grenades, Quickdraw, Auto-Loading Holster, and so on. Militia's Birthright is a kinetic weapon, Truthteller is Void. Other than that, their Weapon Stats are relatively the same. You can compare this by opening both of the above links, and switching back and forth to see the difference. So, this begs the following: Why was it necessary to sunset Militia's Birthright, when the weapon was not over-powered and other weapons of basically identical power are available in the game? It feels arbitrary at this point. By the way, the EDZ is still an in-game destination, Devrim Kay is in the weapon's quote, so the argument of sunsetting weapons tied to sunset destinations does not apply. Because of Militia's Birthright being sunset, there is no usable kinetic grenade launcher available in the game, outside of Witherhoard.

    Personal Plea to Reverse Sunsetting

It is my sincere hope that Bungie reverses sunsetting and allows a lot of weapons to be usable again, as it is honestly sad that good weapons are essentially being rendered useless for no real reason. And by reversing sunsetting, I mean allowing existing weapons to be infusible again. Players should not have to re-grind the same (!!!) or similar weapon with basically the same perks, just for them to be usable in the game. Again, nobody likes entirely arbitrary grinding.

"Our goal from the beginning with Infusion Caps is to improve and keep Destiny 2 fresh over time - what we're most looking forward to is how this system will introduce innovation to the season-over-season meta, how creative builds from the community will shine, and how we can continue to deliver more unique hand-crafted gear that aligns with the world narrative and where the universe is going."

This is in direct conflict with everything Bungie has stated in the past that points to "play your way." Yes, it was rather stale to see people running Mountaintop + Recluse + 21% Delirium. Then again, those were "out of the ordinary" weapons. Pinnacle and ritual weapons make more sense to sunset or heavily balance to keep the meta from being just three weapons. Keep in mind that newer players (I joined the game on August 6, 2020) never had Mountaintop, Recluse, or any of these game-breaking weapons anyway.

Last season, my loadout was usually Militia's Birthright + Hard Light + Falling Guillotine. Sometimes, it was Witherhoard + Gnawing Hunger + Falling Guillotine. Some people like running an auto rifle + grenade launcher + sword. There is no reason why Bungie needs to be actively hostile to the way people play the game.

What to do with Sunset Pinnacles/Rituals

Consider turning some of these, at least Mountaintop, into exotics. It is a shame I never had a chance to try it because it appears to be a fantastic grenade launcher in PvE. It should have been separately balanced in Crucible anyway.

Keeping them in the kiosk is nice, but asking for Ascendant Shards to purchase sunset weapons is asking a lot. There is no such thing as power-disabled PvE content, so the sunset weapons are pretty much only usable in non-pinnacle Crucible.

    Regarding Season 10/11 Loot

This falls in weapon sunsetting, but this is more distinct. I am glad that the world loot pool was tweaked to include weapons from previous seasons, but they all still have infusion caps as if they were dropped from that season. That makes them even less viable long-term than weapons that are new to this season and expansion. There is less incentive to have any care in the weapon rolls from especially season 10 weapons as they will be sunset next season. There is far, far less incentive to grind for good weapons when their effectiveness is so short-lived.

It seems that part of this has been recognized already, as season 10 weapons being sunset would destroy a lot of builds involving Warmind Cells. I appreciate that.

    Armor Sunsetting

I want to acknowledge and say thank you for realizing that armor sunsetting made no sense when originally announced. Indeed, with transmog in place, armor essentially becomes just stat pieces and players would just need to re-grind their existing rolls. I look forward to hearing what Bungie has in mind in the future, although I think armor sunsetting is still not needed in any capacity at the moment. As shown with Ghost Shell mods, mods themselves can be rotated out of the game independent of the shell.

"The personality of armor comes from mods right now, so gaining a new piece of armor often means just trying to find a piece of armor that replicates the stat allocation you already have on a piece in your vault."

The idea of grinding for similar stat allocation applies to weapons as well. Again, nobody wants to arbitrarily re-grind weapons to get the same perks or grind another weapon with the same archetype to get the same perk.

    Closing Remarks

Above all else, Destiny 2 is a video game, and it is a video game with a very large and passionate community. We, community members, rant and rave about the game because we love it, and we want to see it reach its peak potential. Sadly, it always seems just one step away from that.

Bungie, keep in mind that games are supposed to be fun to play. It is not fun to sunset people's weapons, invaliding hundreds to thousands of hours of grinding. It is not fun to sunset armor in that same respect. Please reverse sunsetting and restore the fun back into playing this game, grinding for weapons that we can reliably sink time into and actually enjoy.

I am not sure what data shows, but while keeping fresh loot is essential for a looter game, not everyone is always chasing new loot. Some people like to keep the stuff they already have. And some, while it might not seem like it, also enjoy just playing the game. Not everything has to be a constant grind.

    Respectfully,

    –Techman

    Addendum

Hello all, I just wanted to provide an update after reading some reader comments. For those who took the time to read the post instead of reading the title and jumping to the comments to put a knee-jerk reaction, I really appreciate it. I usually do not write posts such as this, but I felt sufficiently charged-up (heh) to write something that is respectful criticism and something the community can get behind.

I was running on fumes when I posted this. After getting some rest, I have corrected some of the minor errors, such as typos.

Regarding Sunset Loot in Forsaken and Shadowkeep

This is one of the more frustrating aspects of sunsetting that completely slipped my mind. It makes no sense at all that in-game activities are dropping sunset loot. The loot itself from these activities should not be sunset at all**.** Bungie, you cited when discussing the Destiny Content Vault that you were vaulting content that very few players actively consumed in the current times. However, this argument becomes less acceptable when it can be seen that you have artificially created the issue by disincentivizing players to actually play the content.

Some are more hostile on this issue. At best, it is really dishonest to sell players yearly expansions where a good chunk of the content is not usable in the game. At worst, some see this as simply a scam. Nobody wants to have a feeling that they have been "ripped off." When you tried to run a promotional bundle of Forsaken + Shadowkeep + Beyond Light on Steam, the comment section of the event rightly pointed out that it was heavily dishonest to try and sell players expansions with sunset content.

    Other Arguments from Community Members

This is more of a list of discussion points raised in the comments. I will just link to the comment with a snippet of what they said instead since that is more efficient.

Maybe after hitting 100 in the season pass, every time you level up you get 50 bright dust or something along those lines.

Bungie, I really want to give you my money, but 15$ for an armor skin is bananas

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 12:55 AM PST

I found myself being impressed by Beyond Light. I really liked the overall presentation, the characters and the quest structure. Moreover, the exotics are a blast this year, especially lament.

Looking at all this, along with useful additions like Lost Sectors, I really appreciated Bungie's efforts and went to buy an armor-set/skin as a thank you for a job well done amidst a pandemic.

But, Holy mother of Exotic dragons, a skin costs more than a whole season???? Are we out of our minds Bungie? I know you've done some math, but let me tell you math doesn't include word of mouth.

If I bought an awesome skin for 5$ not only I would buy another one for sure, but also spread the word to my clanmates about the awesome armor sets this game has to offer. Instead, every time the subject is come up, all my homies encourage one another to avoid this bullshit pricing while actively hurting Bungie's efforts and future revenue.

I'm sure there is a way for you to change the price structure and offer a better value for money alternative. Maybe it was not a priority until now, but please consider it.

TLDR Skin prices too high, lower it for positive coverage, brand awareness and possibly higher revenue

    *Edit First page, thanks Guardians!

Booted from fire team right before final chest in LW

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 10:36 PM PST

I'm sorry I just need to rant for a moment. So I joined an lfg for a fresh Last Wish teaching 1 run, I have done this raid maybe 3-4 times so for the most part I know what to do. The whole raid goes smoothly until we get to queens walk, between everyone we mess up multiple times and the raid leader starts getting pissy. He starts saying things like "I have 90 completions in this raid it's not hard" "why do you keep fucking up" he then starts calling myself and one other person stupid, dumb, incompetent and just being an outright dick screaming and just shit talking the fire team. Anyway we get to the end and right as the heart gets cleansed I get booted from the fire team. I guess he forgot to boot me from the party and everyone in the party was asking why he kicked me and a couple even said they feel bad about it. He then goes on to talk about how stupid, dumb and retarded of a player I am and how I didn't deserve opening the chest. Now I can handle people talking shit but the level this guy went to and the fact that he kicked me right before I could get the chest had me absolutely seething. I reported him on Xbox as well as Bungie.net but I doubt anything will come of it.

Sorry for the rant but I just had to get this out of my system lol
