Don’t make me take Dawning treats to Shaw Han.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 10:42 AM PST

This Dawning, I have but one humble wish. Please don't force me take Dawning treats to Shaw Han as a part of any bounty or quest. I won't do it. The Dawning is about celebrating with your fellow guardians and members of the Last City. Shaw has done nothing for the Last City. He doesn't recognize all of the things our guardian has achieved. He probably paid someone to use his account to finish the Last Wish to get his armor set. He looks like a character out of a Fortnite-Destiny crossover event. Being forced to take treats to him and pretending I care about what he has to say about it will genuinely make my Dawning worse. Please Bungie, don't make me take treats to Shaw Han.

Edit: the Shaw Han sympathizers are out in force. Stay vigilant my friends.

Exotic armour and raid armour should not drop below a 60 star roll

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 12:30 PM PST

There's already enough rng with getting the stat rolls to be a good split for the build your looking for, and then having to rely on rng to give you a decent total stat roll, is honestly just annoying and shouldn't be a thing.

Tldr: Endgame/ hard to get gear shouldn't roll under 60.

Giving bosses -90% damage phases, rather than full immunity, would achieve the same effect while rewarding competent fireteams with the opportunity to end the encounter sooner.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 04:24 PM PST

Clarity edit: I mainly reference Strike bosses here.

Immunity phases are often illogical and unexplained.

Nokris using crystals that must be destroyed to break his shield made sense. Bosses without any actual mechanic behind their immunity feel cheap, and makes you question why they don't logically remain immune indefinitely.

Giving bosses a defensive state with near-immunity, while still damageable, would be perfect for Destiny's "skill gap". You can still melt a Primeval mid-Envoy if your team has great gear, and those without would just attack when they hit for more damage.

    • Have Hashladûn be considerably stronger while surrounded by Hive waves, but not immune

    • Huge damage reductions while the Fanatic is preparing for tether with the chance to end it prematurely through damage, rather than hopelessly waiting to be tethered

    • In Anânh's immunity is unfounded, the effort required to split in two should mean they're MORE susceptible to damage during the transition

    • Don't give "retreat" mechanics immunity, their retreat is enough (Navota, Sedia, Fanatic, Kargen, Protheon). Exodus Crash and Arms Dealer actually do this already.

    Interested to know DTG's thoughts.

Was helping my friend through pit of heresy last week, and had to explain why the new sick loot he got, was basically useless... He had some interesting things to say after the fact

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 01:58 PM PST

Gonna start by giving some context to the type of player this friend of mine is... He is a WoW player that decided not to return to the game after the last expansion (BFA not shadowlands). I told him to start playing Destiny, and now, 2 weeks in we played pit of heresy, his first dungeon for the first time...

He droped the HC which he apperently didnt have, and he actually loved the feel of it...

Being the dickhead that I am I told him that weapon was cool and all, but it wasnt viable to be used in the endgame, neither Europa (the next location we would be going to)

After a long Y3 story of what sunsetting was and some reads of the Directors posts this is what he had to say....

Before we start I just wanna say that I have been making posts on Sunsetting for a long time and what he suggested actually had me kinda speachless:

"Oh... so it works like every other game? This is weird, this games feels too unique to follow the system of other MMOs "

I asked him to elaborate, what did he mean by unique?

He told me the game isnt as content packed as many MMOs, but the atmosphere of the game, sound design, visuals, UI, story, was increadible and top notch and it was a shame leaving so much content in the game to feel locked...

At this point this seemed like a very standard reaction to the system, but then I asked him what he thought should be done, this was his answer:

"It may be hard to implement but, maybe these expansion weapons should last 2 Years instead of only one, and once they are sunset, if their content is still in the game " (he knows about the DCV) "just make them refresh the perks with the new perks added for the last two years, seems refreshing enough to me, and wont affect the uniqueness of the new stuff"

When He sent me this message (we were texting in our D2 group), I actually smiled thinking how good of an idea this was...

With this system dreaming city weapons would be sunsetting this season, but then would recieve new versions with the new powercap and have new perks from Y2 and Y3 added to them... this seems kinda nice

He also added that after seeing some of the raid and adept weapons/mods from the new raid he thinks that those should 100% be sunset after 2 Years and not reissued, since they felt like very powerfull weapons...

He also pointed out armor could work in favor of a system like this.

This is something we came up with... All armor pieces available to drop should work the in a seasonal refreshing rate, lasting one year and having newer drops follow the current season power caps, untill that contet cycles out of the game. This would make the dreambane armor set and the dreaming city armor set drop TODAY with the season of hunt marker, basically meaning all God rolled Armor U drop WILL Last U a whole Year, instead of Now, where U can drop a god-rolled armor sunsetting in 2 seasons or less

    "tl;dr"

    • ARMOR:
    1. Lasts for an year
    2. Any armor when dropped has the season symbol and sunsetting date of the current season, not the season it was introduced
    • WEAPONS:
    1. Seasonal weapons sunsett after an year
    2. Expansion weapons sunset after 2 Year
    3. When sunset the expansion weapons are reissued with the new perks from the past 2 years

This 2 week old Destiny player suggested an updated sunsetting system which circles around Bad RNG armor drops allowing them to last for the longest possible when they drop for U, and allowing for expansion loot to not feel useless, and after some time even have some new perks

Tell me What U think! It seems like a very nice idea Tbh and solves some of the big problems RN!

    TY for reading

I'm getting tired of recycled Iron Banner gear and the laziness behind armour designs (You know. How Crucible, Vanguard and Gambit share the exact same armour but with different colours)

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 02:56 PM PST

What's the point in Iron Banner if you keep on recycling old loot which will become useless almost immediately because the uniqueness of the armor and guns have worn off due to the constant recycling, I don't remember tossing my Iron Banner into the recycling bin.

Oh and the new Vendor sets is just being lazy to be honest, and they're not worth working towards after collecting one set because you know...we got shaders.

LIKE THE FORBIDDEN VISAGE sets could've been a Vendor set but no, you gotta put the actual good sets behind Silver/Bright Dust which have increased in price stupidly.

As a Warlock main, I can't wait to be disappointed by how many seasons it takes Bungie to nerf the new Hunter Stasis PvP wombo combo

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 10:21 AM PST

ETA: TL/DR: No I don't really want this Hunter ability to be nerfed hard to somehow make up for Warlock nerfs earlier, that's silly. This post means to highlight the similarities between builds to abuse one core ability versus another in PvP and show how Bungie's over-reaction on nerfs early on when new abilities are introduced continues to set us up for unfair cycles of nerfs to other cool abilities down the road. It also seeks to highlight that once again, the strongest nerfs are delivered to Warlocks first... again... likely because there's a concerning lack of anticipation for how these classes are likely to interact in the PvP sandbox ahead of content releases.

Bungie should make minor tweaks when needed, rectify the excessive nerfs to Warlocks, and stop being so trigger-happy to swing the nerf hammer so darn fast. Also, for the love of all that is holy, invest in separating the PvE and PvP sandboxes so that PvE builds aren't submarined by demands of the PvP arena!!!

Hope that clears up a lot of confusion on whether I'm really calling for endless nerfs or trying to ask bigger questions here.

    Original Post:

Here's a video covering the build by Fallout Plays. In short:

    • Boost discipline, use Frost-ees and demolitionist weapons to get grenades quickly.
    • Equip glacier grenade to create walls of ice right next to opponents.
    • Use the Shatterdive aspect to... dive to the ground and shatter nearby ice crystals (your glacier grenade).
    • Use the Whisper of Fissures fragment to increase the damage and size of the burst of crystals you destroy.
    • Spam grenades, jump, dive, shatter crystals to instantly kill opponents. This basically kills anyone within roughly 3 - 5 meters of the ice wall, including those in super, as seen in Fallout's video at 5:14.

To be clear - the Warlock stasis melee was OP for PvP and needed to be nerfed a bit, 100%. They didn't need to stack so many nerfs at once and nuke the ability entirely, or have those same nerfs carry over to PvE where nobody was complaining about it.

Now, this Hunter build can delete multiple targets at once in seemingly less time than a Warlock's ranged stasis melee now takes to travel to its single target. The grenade can't be spammed as often as the Warlock's melee with Claws of Ahamkara plus Monte Carlo, but with Frostees and demolitionist weapons the recharge can get down pretty low.

To be clear again - I don't think this Hunter build needs massive nerfs or adjustments, and whatever minor changes ought to come (if any) should only be contained to PvP, so that the Hunter PvE experience isn't nerfed for no reason.

My point is that I wish Bungie would be more equitable in how they treat and balance classes against each other, and not let PvP changes dramatically affect a player's enjoyment in PvE. On the other side of this, Warlocks can currently slot 4 fragments into their aspects, which is way more than other classes and great for PvE, but why don't Hunters and Titans have that? Are more fragment slots coming for future stasis aspects? Either way, having seen nova warp get made irrelevant in PvP, and now shadebinder receiving the same swift and severe treatment, it's frustrating to see other effective combos in other classes left alone, without comment, for extended periods of time. Like Spectral Blades before it, I wouldn't be surprised if Bungle just lets this sit for a year before taking action.

I don’t mind getting Legendary cosmetics from Bright Engrams, but it is frustrating to get duplicates when there’s a lot I’m still missing.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 08:07 AM PST

Title. I think three out of my last four Bright Engrams gave me duplicates, but I'm still missing a lot of other things like Ornaments and Emotes.

There should really be a true knockout system in my opinion, because otherwise, what is the point of continually leveling up after Rank 100 (besides bonus Power)? Once you've acquired everything, then duplicates are fine, but until then, it feels like a waste when I get a duplicate.

EDIT: Thanks for the rewards, everyone!

Teleporting enemies in PvE still an issue

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 04:16 PM PST

Since the start of this season there's been an uptick in enemies just straight up teleporting around. I know that on day one the main hand-wavy excuse was there's a bunch more people playing so the servers are very stressed, but at this point is this just how the game will be from now on? I'm shooting at things that just teleport half a mile away and then when I scope in on them again they're back where they were to start with chucking grenades at me and stuff, it's really frustrating and just feels awful to try and fight through when I have a 200mbps down and 9ms ping. Can we get any sort of information on if/when this will be addressed?

Please, for the love of the Traveler, STOP TAKING ME OUT OF THE MENU

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 04:22 AM PST

I'm referring to landing at any destination or starting an activity and the game backs out of whatever menu you have open. Every. Single. Time. Pls, Bungie.

Edit: Welp, was not expecting this level of response. Based on the feedback so far, this is not a simple fix and a technically challenging rework. To be clear, I'm not complaining. And, I do remember the days in D1 where you couldn't access your menu AT ALL while loading into destinations and activities. We have come a long way, that's for sure.

Edit 2: Thank you very much, kind guardians, for the gold and awards!

Edit 3: Holy crap. Top of front page. Hi mom!

Trials of the nine should be brought back as a monthly event for gambit, similar to the Iron banner.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 05:02 PM PST

I got a couple of reasons for this,

    1. Gambit was designed to be a competitive game mode with no matchmaking, however, it has clearly changed since its inception, but still the concept could be brought back with some variations (Said a couple times in this GDC talk)
    2. The Drifter's Lore and story is heavily tied to the nine, which is referred to as a bunch in the game. ( Prophecy Dungeon*, Gambit lines, The season of drifter weekly story missions*)
    3. There are plenty of trials of the nine weapons that have never been refreshed and have a very unique look to them, and maybe the refreshed ToTN armor from prophecy could be moved to this, in order to make the daito armor the only armor from prophecy.
    4. Having weekly rotating mini- events in the game is definitely great for the game, for example, look at double nightfall loot and double and triple rank progress.

*Prophecy is currently being fixed and will return in Season 13 I believe, and Season of Difter story missions were sunset go check em out on youtube

I think it would be cool to see a gambit mode that requires a pre-made team, similar to trials, but also since gambit is a much more casual-friendly game mode there doesn't really need to be a "flawless" system rather just a unique loot-pool exclusive to this mode.

Maybe since this is a variant of gambit and a bit more specialized as an event, Bungie could bring back the best of 3 model or best of 5 to throw a little variant into the mix and give it a little bit more "competitive" feel.

Just my thoughts, I love the style of the trials of the nine weapons and also I feel like Bungie doesn't give gambit much or treat it like a 'core' playlist that it's supposed to be.
    Here's an example:

    • Crucible has trials and iron banner, one being a reoccurring weekly mini-event, while iron banner is once a month, full fledged event
    • Strikes have the tiers of difficulty and a rotating double loot week, constantly reoccurring every week, changing the strike once a week
    • Gambit has triple and double infamy weeks, but to be fair that's really not anything special

Crucible and Nightfalls currently have their 'unique' loot from events crucible have two groups that are unique in-fact, Nightfalls basically have masterwork materials soft locked to their loot pool, while gambit again has nothing unique to its variations or basic mode.

Sorry if I was a bit repetitive, but I really wanted to drive the points home.

Servitor Champions should NOT be able to shield enemies behind overworld objects pls

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 10:05 AM PST

was grinding the Exodus Garden 2A LS last night for Bakris, and kept having Wench's and Resilient Dregs charge me while fully immune by a Servitor Champion that was behind like (4) objects. i had to bait them closer to the entrance for them to lose the buff. it was pretty consistent; sometimes i'd get lucky and would be able to disrupt the Servitor before it could shield, other times, well...

    submitted by /u/VirtualCodex
    [link] [comments]

The Warden of Nothing Strike would be way more enjoyable if all the boss servitor's "heavies" spawned before he does, making it a more chaotic boss fight/free for all.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 03:40 PM PST

That poor servitor just spawns in and he's a giant bullseye...most of the time they never even get to spawn in.

Or the other idea of having random bosses from the original PoE thrown in weekly.

Not gonna lie, I feel really bad every time I go into Riis-reborn

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 10:35 PM PST

I'm an Eliksni apologist, I'll admit it. But by any metric, they've been kicked so much you just kinda have to feel sorry for them. Went through their own collapse, followed their Great Machine only to find it blessing another race, getting all their houses systematically destroyed in D1, Dusk getting shat on in D2, a civil war with the Scorn, Kell's Scourge falling apart and now their last big attempt to regain some glory, Salvation, gets blown up. Riis-reborn is supposed to be a city full of Eliksni, it's absolutely massive inside there! I feel awful going in there and just stomping on them while they're down.

C'mon, Bungie, have Mithrax finally become Kell of Kells and ally fully with the City, please?

I ran a single strike: the one where you kill Malok.

Solar burn, so I ran my adept Smite of Merain and Hezen Vengeance rocket launcher.

The loot was spectacular. Hood of Malok hunter helmet. A legendary engram for a secondary weapon. And some other consumable stuff.

Strike specific loot and an engram for a focused loot pool.

    Perfect.

If I'm at a disadvantage against flying bosses and can't melee, they shouldn't be able to stomp me either.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 12:22 PM PST

Just felt like if one makes sense, the other should too, sometimes I barely get a melee hit in and get smacked to a wall, especially the meat ball you can't even run under it to cross the map.

Just a rant, I love this game and will keep playing it, but somewhere down the line some QoL in this section would be nice, or maybe even have the lament track hits on flying bosses properly.

The solo Lost Sectors are fantastic content! Please expand on this activity!

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 05:53 AM PST

I adore the legendary lost sector missions. The more I played them, the more I found myself pushing to get the best times I could on them. I actually think there's some real potential to make them into good, repeatable endgame content.

I suggest increasing the amount of cores you get per completion, or even add a chance at finding a prism. Additionally, it would be very cool to see unique loot added to each legendary sector giving us even more reason to continue farming them.

    Thanks for the consideration!

Why can the Warlock stasis melee be activated when an enemy is out of range, but when it's too close you use your slap?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 03:18 PM PST

It is so impractical to use, especially after the decimating range nerf.

You guys got it right with ball lightning! You activate it when it's charged no matter how close you are to an enemy and it travels a useful distance, without being able to go too far.

Why use these unreliable mechanics for the stasis melee?

No idea why this didn't get pushed up to 1050, maybe because it was 14 power lvl before beyond light because I pulled it from collections when I was lvl 1 on my second character. There are some fun things you can do with it, for example when I shoot under a dreg I can send him flying.

I remember using a low light tractor during the vault encounter in last wish to push the captains to the middle so was wondering if anyone had any ideas for this.

I love the fact that it's just crashed haphazardly in the area; it's a really great reminder that Season of Opulence was a thing, and it's kind of eerie to run through the remains and see how abruptly and nonchalantly it was cast aside. I mean Calus is basically just Space Bezos and it really goes to show how rich the dude is that he straight up just leaves a solid gold ship like most people drop a penny on the ground.
