This week at Bungie, we prepare for next gen.

It's been a while since we last spoke. I mean, it hasn't been too long. We took a quick week off for holiday, but we're back to the grind. There's a bit to catch up on. Since the last TWAB, new Exotics have been discovered throughout Europa. Banshee has found new memories. The Deep Stone Crypt has been infiltrated. A dinosaur was sent into space.

Quite a few of you have been asking about raid statistics. It's always fun seeing how many players took on the challenge for a completion during the first week. We dug through our databases and found some fun stats to share, and we're happily surprised by how many of you completed your first ever Jacket Quest.

Day 1 Stats (Unique Raid Activity Clears)

Last Wish Garden of Salvation Deep Stone Crypt
    4 551 29,814

    Launch +10 Days Stats

Statistic Last Wish Garden of Salvation Deep Stone Crypt
    Unique Raid Activity Clears 3,555 33,152 258,049
    Total Player Hours 2,185,983 2,807,504 7,156,651
    Total Kills 338,667,495 446,461,881 1,100,488,566
    Total Deaths 32,734,027 42,676,699 85,008,596

A final fun fact: Over 979,680 Guardians unlocked The Lament since the quest went live. That's a LOT of sword damage.

Now that we've covered the time that's passed, let's get back to business.

    Return of the Banner

With the raid done and dusted, Lord Saladin is ready to get Guardians back into the Iron Banner. This will be the first Iron Banner to feature Stasis powers, so we're all excited for what's to come.

    Image Linkimgur

For any New Lights out there, Iron Banner is a limited time 6v6 Crucible activity with Power-enabled combat. While artifact power is disabled, you'll want to infuse and equip your most powerful gear before jumping in.

Similar to Control, there are three zones on the map for your team to capture. The more zones you hold, the more points you get when defeating Guardians. If your team is brave enough to capture all three zones, the opposing team will be locked out of capturing zones for a short duration. In other words, this is your time to shine while your enemies cower in fear.

To say it clearly, capping those zones is one of the most important things you can do. Stay close to your teammates, slay your enemies, and enjoy the spoils of victory!

Lord Saladin can be found in The Tower, offering Iron Banner bounties with pinnacle-powered rewards. If you'd like to adorn your Guardian in Iron Banner-themed loot, he's got you covered. Two weapons from the first year of Destiny 2 have been reprised, now featuring random rolls! Additionally, the Iron Will armor set is making its return, updated to accept new combat mods.

    Image Linkimgur

Iron Banner begins at 9 AM on December 8, running through 9 AM on December 15.

Truth be told, you'll be downloading an update right before Iron Banner becomes available. You know what that means? It's time for a patch note preview.

    • Fixed an issue where the "Survivor" medal could be awarded to players who were defeated during the round.
    • Fixed an issue where the "Untouchable" medal could not be earned.

    Beyond Light Exotics

    • Icefall Mantle

      • Fixed a bug where the Icefall Mantle's description did not mention the slow field it generates when activated.
    • Mask of Bakris

      • Improved the readability of the visual effects when another player wearing Mask of Bakris shifts directly toward you.
      • Updated the description string of Mask of Bakris's perk to correctly describe its damage bonus, which applies only to combatants and affects all Arc weapon damage and all damage against slowed or encased enemies.
        • Additionally, fixed an issue where this damage bonus was applying to players who are slowed or encased in Crucible and Gambit.
    • Necrotic Grip

      • Fixed an issue where being killed by the effects of Necrotic Grip would show as being "Killed by the Architects."

We'll have a full list of patch notes ready to go on December 8 when the patch becomes avaailble for download. Speaking of availability…

    **KNOWN ISSUES *

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

    • Some players are being forced to reacquire the Cryptolith Lure every time they launch the game.
    • Major enemies that drop Moon weapon parts aren't spawning.
    • The Scourge of the Past armor can't take Season of Arrivals mods.
    • The Strength of Memory Challenge can't be completed.
    • Some icicles on the Rimed Ghost shell are black and don't look like icicles.
    • The Lost Lament quest sometimes progresses inconsistently/not at all and sometimes needs to be abandoned and reacquired to continue.
    • Kills with the Jade Rabbit Exotic Scout Rifle no longer auto-refill its magazine.
    • The Halcyon Visage Exotic Sparrow takes shaders poorly.
    • The Selfie Emote functions poorly on ultrawide monitor setups.
    • The Wisdom of the Witch Triumph no longer counts progress.
    • Some players cannot progress past the first mission of A Guardian Rises.
    • The Drifter sometimes misgenders players in idle dialogue and Gambit dialogue.
    • Eris still has a Weekly Challenge for some players. This Weekly Challenge intentionally does not provide a Powerful reward.
    • Flawless Execution on the Way of the Wraith Hunter subclass has a delayed trigger.
    • Resetting Valor rank on step 4 of 5 on the Light Reforged Crucible quest prevents future Valor earned from being recorded for the quest.
    • Multiple ships have their rocket effects floating behind the ship model.
    • Shiver Strike Titan melee does not function with the Heavy Handed mod.
    • Collections go back to the main menu instead of to the previous section.
    • HDR isn't working as intended.
    • We're investigating player reports that their veteran dialogue has been replaced with new character dialogue.

    Don't Fall for an Imposter

Since the Deep Stone Crypt raid went live, we've been watching numerous fireteams take on the challenge. For some, it was their first trip through pinnacle content in Destiny 2. Exploring new zones, encountering new bosses, and earning new loot is always exciting! For others, this was an opportunity to take things to the limit by taking on the challenge solo. Who needs a backpack?

The fact we aren't getting new armor and weapons for Iron Banner on a new dlc is ridiculous

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 10:36 AM PST

    https://twitter.com/destinytrack/status/1334557240125251584?s=19

What is the point of sun setting if we are just chasing old weapons and armor again. I dont expect new sets every season but a brand new dlc should being new armor and weapons for a in game pinnacle event. But since IB is a free event they don't invest the money and resources too. I've been dying for a new of IB ornaments and armor and it's extremely disappointing to see just old armor brought back again and again.

Bungie:: For the love of God please stop the overload champions from constantly teleporting.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 10:16 PM PST

I completed a bunch of the Concealed Void legend lost sectors to get the new Exotic Arms for each character, had no problem with my Titan, Hunter, or the first several runs for my warlock then it all started weirding out. It began when I got to the section with the explodie shanks and no matter what I did as soon as my grenade hit him and I began hitting him with Xenophage, he suddenly had all his health back, though I'll chock it up to a fluke, but...

The real issue at hand is the obsurd teleporting the first champion does. I'm not the only one experiencing this, other friends and team mates have experienced it as well, usually after multiple runs. I don't know what it is but he literally never stops teleporting for more than a second or two, grenades just won't stick and even when the explosion does get him he immediately teleports and has all his health back. I'm running the same perks I used for the all the previous runs, same on all characters, I had no issue with any until the 4th or 5th run on my warlock.

My load out is: for Warlock 1264 Power.

Anti Barrier Pulse Rifle- Stars in Shadow(solar). Overload Scout Rifle- Patron of lost causes. Xenophage(solar).

dawnblade (top tree). Fusion Grenade. Artifact mod Thermal Overload to disrupt Overload Champions. Starfire Protocol for the extra grenades and rift. All my armor mods are the same on all Characters.

I have around 2 dozen completions without issue.

The champions have been an issue since they were introduced primarily the Teleporting Champions, maybe a glitch caused by their teleport animation, but the it's the same as the ridiculous rapid teleporting Captains do.

In most cases I'm with a fireteam and have assistance but these Legend Lost Sectors have to be run Solo, so when sh!t starts acting weird, well it's not a fun experience!

There have been numerous requests and complaints about the issue with Champions since they arrived, still nothing has been done, and it's time they F~cking do something about it.

Give these damn teleporting maniacs a cool down, we have them, why don't the mobs. I know this will fall on deaf ears as so many requests do but it's not hard to do, after all they intentionally increased enemy teleportation speeds.

    Bungie Please nerf these bastards!

A list of stuff Rise of Iron did that would not be remotely acceptable to r/DTG today

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 01:33 PM PST

The partisan way people are taking this comment section is extremely sad. People are misconstruing this post as saying "we shouldn't complain" or "D2 is better". Meanwhile other people are calling me a saint. This isn't politics. Nowhere do I comment on the state of Beyond Light. If you have an "us vs them" mentality over a damn videogame, you need to reevaluate your time on Reddit.

Just think this is good for retrospective. People seem to be making comparisons between current Destiny and Rise of Iron with no little to no context, so here we go. This is not to say we shouldnt expect more, just pointing out some double standards which formed when comparing D1 to D2

    - Crucible and Vanguard sets use the same model from Year 1

    - Faction sets are reskinned Taken King armor sets

    - Half of the paid patrol zone is a reskinned Cosmodrome

    - One truly new strike

    - 5 mission campaign, one of which is on Mars

    - Archon's forge doesn't have matchmaking

    - Archon's forge mostly an armor set and class items, only 2 weapons

    - Fallen with new powers is a lame reskin unless its in Rise of Iron in which case its great

    - Re-earning old items with a new power cap

    - Re-earning old exotics with a new power cap

    - Vanguard, Crucible, and all 3 factions use the same weapon models.

    - raid weapons reuse foundry models

Edit: people are saying that this is out of context because RoI was $30. With the exception of the campaign, everything listed here would be in the free portion of Destiny 2 today. So no, there is no missing context here.

This is not a RoI bad post, hell, I don't even find half of these to be a problem. Its an example of how standards change. People listing things that aren't double standards are missing the point.

Edit 2: Ah fuck it. Lets do this for the Taken King. Shorter list but might as well

    - Crucible and Vanguard sets use the same models as each other

    - Half of the campaign took place on existing locations.

    - Sunsetting exotics

    - Court of Oryx gives artifacts as loot, no matchmaking

    - Trials armor reusing models from last year

    - Selling a patrol zone that was marketed as part of the original game

There will be 3 dungeons up soon. Give them the ordeal rotation treatment

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 12:10 AM PST

Would be super Nice the way we have empirehunt on a weekly rotation for pinnacle drops, if we could have that for the 3 dungeons soon to be available, currently 2 available. Using the ordeal treatment for lost sectors and empirenhunt is one of the best endgame activities besides raids. Me and My friend have the most fun running ordeal at the moment due to the difficulty and rewards.

The launch pods from the Atraks-1 encounter launch you at 8000 times the weight of the Sun.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:22 PM PST

    Hi, All3estrazsa here.

When our clan was doing Atraks-1, I was wondering how fast those launch pods send you at, since you go in to space in a matter of seconds. Now I just want to say that I'm not one of those people who go like 'well acktually its not scientifically acchurate so its badddd', I just thought it'd be fun to find out.

    Assumptions:
    1. The 'Morning Star' base is in a geostationary orbit around Europa. It's an orbit where it takes one (Europan) day to go round, so it makes it seem like its not moving from the ground. We can safely say that because we go straight up and its always straight above the DSC.
    2. The change in acceleration is as smooth as possible. It looks that way when we do the encounter and its the safest option for humans to travel in.

    Numbers:
mass of Europa: 4.8x10^22kg (about 100 times lighter than earth)
radius of Europa: 1.56^6m (about 4 times smaller than earth)
    Europan 'day': 3.55 earth days

It also takes roughly 7secs to get from base to space.

    Method:
To find the radius of an orbiting body, we can use Newton's law of gravitation and make that equal to the equation for centripetal motion

    F = (GMm)/r^2

    F = (4*pi^2*m*r)/T^2

Rearrange that and you get the distance between the space station and the centre of Europa. Just by subtracting the radius of Europa get you:

    1.81x10^7m

or about halfway round the earth. It's pretty impressive seeing that we get there in just 7 seconds.

Now we want the acceleration. We can do this by imaging a velocity/time graph that is 0 at 0 secs and 7 secs, and has an area under it to be 1.81x10^7. I'll spare you the integration and tel you that the velocity/time graph for it is

    3.171x10^5*t(7 - t)

Finally we can get the maximum acceleration from it by differentiating it when t = 0 as the graph is steepest at 0 and 7 seconds. Doing all that gives you:

    2.22x10^6 ms^-2

or about 226000 times the gravity of the earth, which is bloody nuts! Like, you jump in the pod, one second you're in the Crypt and another you're 2220km away.

    tl;dr
Launch pods go brr, about 226000g's, aka you turn into slush.

BTW, the max speed you'd go at (in this model) is 3884 kms^-1, although it'd only be for an instant.
We guardians are some tough sons o' bitches

The return of the Prophecy dungeon would be the perfect time to reissue Trials of the Nine weapons.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 04:25 PM PST

This would work like a miracle for the super small loot pool that Beyond Light brought to us, but the sad reality is that this is just another wasted opportunity on Bungies end.

    submitted by /u/ELPintoLoco
    [link] [comments]

At this point, I'm convinced that the Trials delays are actually because Bungie deleted the Lighthouse by accident.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 08:29 PM PST

I know that's the meme but trials has been put on hold for 5 weeks, (lol my Brain wanted me to type five months) and we're not even sure that's going to be the limit. While bugs have been discovered that are good reasons to halt trials, I think it's a front. The Titan bug was a problem since day one of Beyond Light and Bungie only sees it as a reason to halt trails on what was meant to be the second trials weekend...just saying, it seems sus.

I think some intern was told to "Dump all Mercury assets expect for the PvP maps." and boy did they do it. So Bungie has been scrambling to solve the issue.

I know some think that Lighthouse might not even be on Mercury anymore but I think Bungie doesn't care so much about the literal excuse they made for why we can't go to those worlds anymore. Somehow the Drifter has maintained the power to take us to Titan and the maps near the city must be caught in Riven's time curse because the Traveler is still busted in them. I don't think they care about the lore, but it would be funny to see Saint chilling in the void of space next to the sun like "There are many doors Edboy!" as he pops open a floating chest.

Bungie, if you're going to continue reprising Iron Banner armor, why not bring back S2/S3 ornaments? or D1 armor? We've been asking for this for a while now, and the radio silence on it has been frustrating.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 04:16 PM PST

I saw about two thread's here today, but this has been an issue that's been bothering me since Opulence, so I'm making my own post.

Today we see that the Iron Will armor and some Y1 weapons are returning to Iron Banner. This is cool for those who never received these things, but for me and many others, it's plain frustrating.

I have actively used my Iron Will armor with good stat rolls for the past year. To see it being immediately reprised after being sunset, is more than frustrating.

It would soften this blow if Saladin had a quest to receive S2/S3 ornaments, ornaments that I lost because I moved to PC before cross-save. Ornaments that have been nonexistent from the game starting from 2017 and 2018.

It's hard to care or get excited for Iron Banner, when I'm chasing 4 year old weapons, and armor I already had, but have to regrind because of sunsetting.

If we're going to continue to receive old armor, why not reprise one of the several Iron Banner-related sets from D1?

Now to link pictures of armor I'd like to see return for those unfamiliar.

    D1Y2 Iron Banner armor

    Playstation Exclusive Iron Banner armor

    D1Y3 Iron Banner armor

    D1Y3 Iron Lord ornaments

    Iron Banner Season 2 Ornaments

    Iron Banner Season 3 Ornaments

Please add a new/reworked Ace of Spades quest for the New Lights that buy Forsaken

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 11:07 PM PST

    Title.

The Ace of Spades is basically the symbol of Forsaken, it's really tied to the dlc's story, and now having it locked behind a statue and 2 ascendant shards... it's strange. I'd honestly feel disappointed to have to BUY Ace of Spades after beating Forsaken.

Come on Bungie, Cayde's gotta have some other stashes around the system. Probably somewhere in the Cosmodrome, as we've seen at the start of TTK.

Whats the point of the Lure if we can’t target farm at will?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 09:11 PM PST

I havent got a chance at Deafening Whisper in over 6 charges now. Who came up with this horrendous system and was it even tested? I actually enjoy the activity, at least compared to some of last years activities. Just give me a way to reliably get a chance at what I want every so often.

The Exo Challenges are almost exactly what I dreamed the Infinite Forest to do back in the day. It's Fantastic, creative, new and exciting!

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 06:12 AM PST

There's unlimited potential here. I think triumphs state that there are only 3 challenges, however, I'd be totally okay with Bungie adding and changing these challenges for the foreseeable future! I'd even be okay with it having its own earnables (emblems, shaders, armor etc.)

    Good job Bungie. Very happy.

Edit: surprised at the negative responses. If you're going to sit there and complain about Bungie not adding enough content, and then you turn around and complain when they try something different than usual, odds are you're probably never going to be happy and should probably put the game down and let the rest of us enjoy it.

And to those who say "all do you is run through and kill enemies," news flash, it's a FPS. You're meant to run around and kill things.

Bungie I don't think anyone is taking up your offer for "Character Power Boost" to 1200 power for Silver (aka real money), but if you changed that to "skip the campaign and unlock all Stasis grenades and aspects" I would pay up in a heartbeat

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 04:42 PM PST

For the record I don't think paying real life money to be able to skip or accelerate content in any measure is an acceptable feature in ANY game. It's not as scummy as "pay to win" or the "gotcha" system in something like Genshin Impact, but it's bordering on it.

HOWEVER, if Bungie is going to offer it, then everyone should know going to 1200 power on your second or third character takes almost no time. If you want to squeeze money out of me by appealing to my laziness, I would rather we skipped doing the monotonous Born In Darkness quest for the third time in a row. And as much fun as the campaign is, doing it twice is more than enough.

Raid armor really shouldn't roll with stats in the 50's.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 12:27 AM PST

As much as I enjoy raiding, and the new raid especially, getting armor pieces with stats in the mid 50's sucks. You get all excited to get the new armor because it looks cool, then you look at the roll and infuse/dismantle it and facepalm.

I feel like raid armor should roll with at LEAST 60 stats if not a touch more.

    Pls Bungie.

    edit

In the comments a few people have mentioned that it's really kind of shitty that the season pass armor will give you 66 stats and raid armor is often mid to high 50's. I agree, raids are supposed to be end game content and should give better loot. We're not looking for 70 stat rolls here, that's not what's being asked. But we shouldn't be rolling 56's on raid gear.

2 weeks later, Deafening Whisper is still bugged and doesn't trigger Abyssal Extractors. Today's TWaB doesn't even acknowledge the existence of the bug.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 08:31 PM PST

    Title.

Now, I don't want to beat a dead horse, but sunsetting has drastically reduced the number of viable weapons in end-game content and it's disheartening how one of the very few new exciting weapons can't synergize with one of the best exotics in the game.

Gambits Prime Evil "Meatball" doesn't need to show up in EVERY match

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 09:59 AM PST

I've played 15 games of Gambit since reset, and each one has had the meatball show up. Think we can reduce the amount of matches he shows up?

Hey Bungie: Oathkeeper here. Can you please give me a better exotic perk?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 10:23 AM PST

Its been 2 years. In PVE I have no use. In PVP I have slim use. I want Guardians to look at me before sharding me. I've done some soul searching, looked into the deep, and made some ideas that would make me like my brother Wormhusk Crown: Lower the draw time of bows while I soothe their arms. Reduce flinch while I caress my Guardian's strong muscles. Max out nocking speed while I encase their nimble fingers. All I want for the Dawning is to be looked at as what I am: Exotic.

    Sincerely,

    Oathkeeper

Edit: Thank you for the silver!

Bungie Europa is one of the most beautiful destinations yet

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 11:09 PM PST

I read through the top posts and all that is there was various jokes and complaints about the game. I thought for a change I would make something that highlights what things were good in the new content.

Europa is absolutely gorgeous I have spent countless hours just looking at random ruins in the distance and admiring the hours it must have taken people to craft them. I think about what happened and how many people were there and what the colony looked like.

The atmosphere combined with the score makes me feel like this is probably the best destination made in destiny so far. I might have to visit the dreaming city or the tangled shore again. But I think to their credit staring at Jupiter never gets old for me.

The armor and weapons l for Europa and the raid are some of my favorite weapon designs they all look right at home in their destinations. I didn't know what to expect from the raid visually when I saw the weapons and armor for the first time I was blown away.

Wearing an entire Europa armor set today and running around in the snow made the feeling of the new expansion all the more real.

The Raid is probably the best I have gone through. I tried it day one and exploring each new area taking time to go through every hallway was fun. Every mechanic wasn't insane to figure out. It made the experience rewarding when we were trying to figure out each encounter.

When you get sent to the orbital platform for the first time I was giggling what an inspired decision to do that. I never expected that.

It's also nice that unlike the older raids you can't have someone not doing anything. Though I urge you to perhaps consider having a higher difficulty to the raid in the future.

Story is also amazing I won't go into a lot of details but seeing some of the threads from older plots reveal themselves has definitely been fun to see.

I definitely am happy with this new expansion. I think where you all have put in the effort really shows. I stand in random areas from time to time taking in the new surroundings and I still am in awe by the scale of things and the effort put in.

Hats off to you. Hope you have a wonderful holiday.

Someone on here actually told me that Destiny is not that visually impressive...

    Bruh...

And this is just a random room, where I don't think there are any enemies or objectives, just a place you pass through on the way to somewhere else.

    Again...bruh....

Bungie please make it so that all grenades and aspects are unlocked once they have been completed on one characters.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 10:50 AM PST

It's brutal trying to regrind this on all characters having already done it on one. The main game already consists of regrind the same strikes and campaign missions, but having to do it 2 more characters just to unlock their abilities just takes to much time. This is more of a hassle than it is a gaming experience.

The return of IKELOS weapons with the Seventh Seraph gear in S10 was a 10/10 choice. I just have one small request.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 11:48 PM PST

I'm sure this has been posted before, but can either or both the IKELOS and Seventh Seraph sets be given Seraph rounds intrinsically? It fits both gameplay-wise and lore-wise.

I don't have much of an opinion either way, really:

-IKELOS guns look great and play great. They're supposed to stand out from regular guns. It just slightly irritates me that A) Seraph Rounds is themed around the gear, yet has to take up a spot in the second perk column, and B) it's based on RNG.

-Seventh Seraph weapons are good but they've always felt like they lacked a little of something to really make them shine. It's hard to find a reason to pick them over IKELOS or other weapon sets IMO.

Drang got reprised this season with Together Forever as its' intrinsic perk, so the concept's already being used. I like the idea of weapon sets getting a bit more personalized, Bungie. They're all getting sunset at the end of next season so why not give them a good send off?

(Alternatively I'd be happy with a third type of Rasputin weapons in the future that comes with SR intrinsically. The aesthetic/feel of Rasputin guns/exotics is just top tier.)

Bright Dust changes and Event Ornaments

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 11:06 AM PST

With the Dawning just around the corner, with 45 dollars worth of new armor ornaments alone, not counting the other new cosmetics, a quick fun fact for everyone! Someone playing on all 3 characters used to be able to afford all 3 sets of ornaments in events like The Dawning, Solstice, etc. Not anymore! Previously, with a weekly bright dust gain of 1200 from normal weeklies, and an additional 400 from the event weeklies, 1 character netted you 1600 BD per week. 3 characters was 4,800. Over the 4 weeks of an event, that's 19,200 BD. Enough to purchase all 3 ornament sets and an exotic weapon ornament without hurting your savings. Now you get 9,600 over the course of a 4 week event. Always nice to see a change that hurts the ability to get free cosmetics for people that play Destiny the most, and would therefore be most likely to pay silver.

Hey Bungie, maybe consider reverting the BD changes? You didn't reduce the grind for 3 character players, you made it less rewarding, there's a difference.

Edit: I was informed that the Dawning is 3 weeks, so that's only 7,200 BD over the course of this event, exactly enough for 1 ornament set and one exotic ornament.
