Sunday Pls - Introduce a Season focused on Quality-Of-Life Changes

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 01:00 AM PST

    Greetings Guardians!

First, an introduction to this new weekly thread.

Ever since the conception of this sub, we've dealt with floods of reposts. We're sure you're familiar with them. Many are for important issues that are shared by the entire player base, while others are just for personal requests and desires for the game. The Bungie Plz was shortly implemented after conception as a central "wish-list" for all that we, the community, desired. It is completely user driven. With rare exceptions, nearly all submissions are sent in by you, the users of this subreddit!

This wiki article has become an invaluable resource for the developers as it succinctly summarizes what the community wants in an easy-to-access and perpetually available list. In the past, even Bungie themselves ran their own Community Wishlist through the Bungie.net forums, though it has since then been retired.

However, just like Destiny 2, our wiki article began to experience problems as it grew over time. It's been getting just a few sizes too big. We understand that the continued addition of topics has begun to encroach on your ability to continue the conversation towards matters that mean the most to you, and even though the Bungie Plz has seen so many successes over the years, with well over 100 officially implemented game suggestions and desires, there's still dozens upon dozens of retired topics that haven't seen the light of day for many months...even years!

In response to to you, the users, we have designed a new weekly thread called the "Sunday Plz". We took note of your discussions that Bungie Plz becoming less of a wish-list and more of a graveyard. We've analyzed the concerns regarding topics being retired too quickly, or being left retired for far too long. As the old saying goes, "we're listening"...and we have been listening. So this is what we're going to try as a solution:

Every Sunday, this thread will focus on a certain retired Bungie Plz topic of your choosing, voted by the users. We will curate a list of 5 suggestions to help focus your voting process, but you get the final say on what is talked about each week. And by all means, if one topic is overwhelmingly desired despite not being part of those 5 items we picked, then we'll be happy to go with that one. Our curated list is only to help you focus the conversation. The only stipulation is that the topic must be new every week. This thread is for the entirety of the Bungie Plz wiki, so no back-to-back voting!

It will remain stickied for 24 hours, and additionally, for the entire remainder of that week, this thread will be placed into our upper CSS header bar for continued visibility.

Think of these threads as a way to keep the spark alive, and to bring old topics up to fresh light. For example, do we still want to move Queenbreaker to the special slot? Or does Arbalest serve that purpose well enough now? Do we still want an all-black shader, or do we want a character barbershop more?

You tell us! This is your conversation, guardians.

For this week, we'll start it off:

Introduce a season that is primarily focused on quality of life changes

For next week, here are some suggestions:

    • Add new gambit maps
    • Buff Tarrabah
    • Make Traction an Intrinsic Perk
    • Give all Exotics intrinsic kill trackers
    • Allow class items to be pulled from collections

Sound off in the sticky comment for which one sounds good, or anything else in the Bungie Plz wiki!

The bootleg Omnigul strike is much better without Fortnite man telling me to make sure I'm wearing my diaper.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 02:04 PM PST

    EYES DOWN THE SIGHTS GUARDIAN.

I made the mistake of doing the new light quest on my main. Shaw Ham treats me like a kinderguardian and it makes the strike insufferable.

Doing it on my alts, and its just Ghost and Zavala saying how Navota is so weak her brood is thinking of leaving her so she needs to kill us, no big deal, just another dead wizard. Perfectly average strike.

The dialogue works so much better on my alts. But since i made the mistake of doing the quest on my main, Taeko-4 is forever thanking me for avenging his blueberries

I would rather wait longer for seasons or expansions..

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 04:44 AM PST

..than seeing Bungie devs lose their passion and love to the game due to strict deadlines nobody can hold. And we all hope crunch isn't the answer here. Watching the Cyberpunk release, I can just hope every developer and/or publisher learns from it and just give things more time in the oven.

I love the idea to get more talented staff hired at Bungie to balance the work and I hope the results will show. However, quality is still worth more than quantity, looking at the Hawkmoon, whisper or zero hour quests (they are just pure gold).

If a season or expansion takes a few months longer to be great rather than being mediocre but in time, then just take the time. The Destiny community is passionate enough for the game to just wait for great things you make for us to truly enjoy.

Also Christmas is ahead, so take some quality time with the ones you love and re-energise for the new year!

    Cheers

Edit: Thanks for all the awards, I wish you all a great christmas time! Hope everybody's well.

Considering Elsie’s backstory, I firmly agree she didn’t have time to explain why she didn’t have time to explain.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 11:39 AM PST

She's from an alternate timeline, guardians using darkness, whatever the black garden is, all that... yeah, I don't think she actually had time to explain why she didn't have time to explain. There's too much to explain for year 1 vanilla D1 me.

Hey Bungie, the exotic ornament for Stompees, Turbo Kickers, has not been on Eververse in two years

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 03:17 PM PST

I, and many other fellow Hunters have been waiting literal years for the ornament to return.

Sincerely, someone who wants Turbo Kickers.

Hey Bungie, could you guys do a "Deep Dive" thing for Deep Stone Crypt like you did for Prophecy last season?

I don't know if it's just me, but I think it would be really cool to hear the development process and the tales behind the raid.

Remembering How The Crow Spent the Last Dawning Makes His Reaction to Our Cookies Even More Heartbreaking

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 05:50 PM PST

The Crow spent the better part of his first year being absolutely loathed by humanity. What makes it worse is he has zero clue as to why. He just had to wander around basically wearing the face of a murderer and being shunned by literally anyone and everyone he tried to help.

Which brings us to the Dawning 2019:

"One night, he sits with his head against his knees and listens to the distant snaps of gunfire. He hasn't seen anyone in about a week, but he can hear them. Somehow that makes the loneliness worse. More potent.

"Did you know," his Ghost says, bright but gentle. The purple glint of his shell reflects the half-light outside the crate. "That in the Last City, they are celebrating? They call it the Dawning. It is a celebration of friendship and hope and warmth."

The Guardian keeps his eyes closed and forces down his bitterness. The silence lingers between them, heavy and filled with unsaid things, until his Ghost gently bumps his shoulder. "To feel good, they say to each other: Happy Dawning."

Still, the Guardian says nothing, and his own silence makes him sick with himself. His Ghost has never doubted him. Never doubted anyone, really. He is a well of relentless optimism. And as infuriating as that is, it's also heartbreaking, and comforting, and a relief. The Guardian is not going to be the one to disappoint him.

There's been too much disappointment in this life already."

Imagine going from that to one year later being presented a gift by the (debatably) Guardian that put a bullet into the head of his former self. He's literally at a loss for words.

    This years Dawning feels different

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 09:07 PM PST

I think we can all agree on that 2020 was a crazy ass year with a lot of death and suffering all around the world. When I first saw the return of the dawning I thought „great another cookie backing simulator event"

BUT what I didn't expect was just how relaxing und comforting it was to just lay back for once and enjoy flying around, giving everyone those little presents and get a bit of love back in return

The decorations and music in the tower are the cherry on top, it never looked so beautiful.

Just wanted to share my thoughts and love for the game And give some thanks to Bungie while I'm at it

    Happy Dawning Guardians

Give us a way to see exotic Armor ornaments

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 06:14 AM PST

Ok there is a small chance I may just be blind, but I don't think we have a way to view all our ornaments for exotic armor. We can see all our ornaments for exotic weapons, so why not armor?

Note: If I'm wrong, and there is a way to view them, can somebody tell me how

On the topic of casual/fun crucible.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 09:42 AM PST

I don't get it. We have had control as basically the only casual playlist for around 4 years now. This is the company that made halo...HALO!

Why don't we have fun game types to get more people interested in pvp. CTF, King of the hill, big team battle, invasion, fiesta, there's so much they could do to improve the overall community enjoyment with pvp and I don't think anyone would be against it. Trials is what the sweat community focuses on and I get that, y'all need end game content just as much as pve, but isn't anyone else tired of pushing B? To the sweats out there, how would you feel if a season happened and bungie added these game modes to crucible focused on things like CTF and BTB? I mean the one event we do have in crucible is iron banner that is just control but sweaty! How do y'all feel about this? Am I the only one completely burnt out of regular crucible?

Edit; seems the general consensus is that people want more options when going into chill game modes. Control has become very stale and adding back things like rift and other objective based game modes is very important. Crucible shouldn't just be control and elim with mayhem every so weeks. While 8v8 game modes are nice it'd take a lot of work in the engine and new maps to make it actually happen. I just hope bungie is reading this because it seems they have completely forgotten about crucible. I'm mainly a pve player, but pvp is what keeps the replayability and so many people active.

Crucible maps are too small for all of this special, super, and ability spam.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 02:37 PM PST

Why were the maps sunset again? The lighthouse stayed, the Gambit maps from sunset destinations stayed....

Why was Crucible cut in half?

Towerthought: Shatterdive/Glacier combo is just pre-nerf Handheld Supernova

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 07:45 PM PST

It's a grenade ability with pretty high regen depending on the loadout, pretty fast activation, except stronger because it can kill supers too, and a much larger AoE. Just a thought.

The Dawning is just what I needed

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 12:42 PM PST

Just wanted to give a quick shoutout to this year's Dawning event. I've been away from Destiny for about a year or 2 now and have just gotten back into it.

After the extremely tough year that's been felt the world over, it's strange that something like hearing some happy music going to the tower or throwing snowballs of giving presents to NPC's in a damn video game can make me feel some semblance of holiday cheer but it really is nice.

Thank you for putting this event on Bungie. I'm not sure if anyone else feels the way I do, but it's been nice.

Easy Dark Ether Cane Farm in Bay of Drowned Wishes

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 05:40 PM PST

For those who are getting sick of trying to find scorn to kill for dark ether cane, here's a solution. Go to the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector in the Dreaming City. Not only are there scorn there, but the Screebs that spawn inside endlessly respawn and attack, so long as the abomination stays alive. Just hop onto a rock, hide from the abomination, and keep killing screebs!

This wasn't found by me and was thrown around around the time of Forsaken, but I figured it'd be a good idea to share this endless enemy spawn location again.

    Happy Dawning Guardians!

Give me more hive gunk to break.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 08:55 AM PST

I hate Wrathborn hunts. I think they're horrendous in comparison to other seasonal activities. I hate the fact that it's literally just regular ass bosses, sometimes with one new attack (did you know the Archon and the Knight can both throw grenades?).

But the gunk. Oh god. I run up to it with my grenade launcher. Shoot it. Then gaze in awe and majesty as my console drops frames like its hot. Seeing all the debris flying everywhere. Good lord. I don't know why the gunk is there, because we don't need to be slowed down as there's nothing to be loaded, but...perhaps it's the satisfaction. It's so good. Give me more. More hive gunk to break. Please.

So apparently Gambit can bug out and give you a friendly npc

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 01:52 PM PST

The map was titan and we moved to the yellow section in the back. To our surprise during a fight against scorn, we found a scorn abomination orange bar that was fighting on our side. This is the first time I've seen this happen. It was pretty great and he only took damage from other scorn who he was clearing out at a prodigious rate before teleporting and dying, dropping motes as per usual. Really wish I had a clip for you but this screenshot with him on my radar as a friendly will have to do.

    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2327872743

anyone else have screenshots or clips of similar things?
Laughing a bit at myself: In that brief moment I sort of got a slight curse of creative writing if you will: I've named this Abomination Toldar, He remembered being eliksni, Remembered a life before and woke to pain, and betrayal. He strikes out against the scorn, accepting any aid in his final moments.

Bungie, Claim all Triumphs Button When

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 09:57 AM PST

Doesn't really apply to me and other players where we have to go out of my way to get triumphs now, but I do have buddies and I'm sure there's others who have loads of the basic triumphs that don't want to spend time just going through 30 screens to claim triumphs. Also would probably be satisfying to save a whole seal of triumphs then claim them all at one time.
