    Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

The season pass should award small gifts of bright dust after rank 100

1 token per lose in trials would be enough to make me play, Bungie.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 01:46 PM PST

As a PVE person I'm willing to lose 20 games in row to get 1 weapon drop rather than suffer and try to get 3 wins.

EDIT: I have some weapons unlocked.

The Vex got a FAT W this season

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 06:29 AM PST

There was an updated line of dialogue from OG Gambit that I heard the other day that went along the lines of; "The Vex have consolidated their subtypes, you must be kicking the crap out of them!" Before it used to say "strengthened their subtypes" meaning making the ones they already have stronger, however this new line suggests change, which is the Wyverns. Since The Vex can not simulate paracausality, it is impossible for them to simulate a perfect outcome against Light-Bearers or Darkness-Bearers. However over the past couple years they got a strong message from us that their current frames were not nearly enough to triumph against us, even after upgrades. However, since we have been fighting The Vex for so long they have nearly unlimited data about our fighting styles, aka ape with a shotgun. Thus they created the Wyvern, essentially an Anti-Guardian Vex frame, and after playing Grandmaster Glassway I gotta say, GOD DAM THOSE THINGS ARE EFFECTIVE. I wonder if after seeing the efficiency of these frames if they will continue to develop more Anti-Guardian Vex, a scary thought fighting something that makes a Wyvern seems like a Goblin.

Edit: This is NOT correct, this was pointed out to me within 5 minutes of this post going up. So yes, I know it's wrong, but I'm not changing it because I like the conversations that it is sparking.

Put Trace and Linear Fusion Rifles under the Fusion Rifle family

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 02:40 PM PST

I'm all for a variety of weapon archetypes but these two types should be under same umbrella Fusion Rifles sit.

Make Trace Rifles the Precision Frames and LFRs either High-Impact or Aggressive Frames. I'd lean the LFRs as High-Impact as the intrinsic perk describes how they should be used anyway.

    How'd y'all feel about this?

Why are 120s Outranging Scouts and Pulses?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 06:49 PM PST

There needs to be a sweet spot where a gun type has the advantage. Some scouts do have far back sweet spots but there's so much cover in the game that most just run into cover when there's someone way far out of their range. However, these guns can't beat a HC in close quarters because of clunkiness so why is a 120 getting 45+ range etc while some pulses can only get ~32m?

Right now 120s are mega good all arounders. Something has to change. Either other gun types need to be buffed or 120s need a range or flinch nerf.

At the moment what reason is there to use a non HC in PvP?

Can Reckless Oracle's Reflex Sight Please Be Restored Soon?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 01:54 PM PST

I don't make posts that often on here, but I felt this was a pretty important subject. Reckless Oracle is one of my favorite Auto Rifles, and it not having a dot in its sight, while not game breaking, makes it just a bit harder to use, and makes the sight look worse in my opinion. I have absolutely no clue as to what caused this visual glitch to happen, but all I know is that it started when Beyond Light launched.

Obviously this isn't as important of an issue as the many others surrounding the game, from glitches to design choices, but I do hope that this is at least seen by Bungie, because it does hurt a bit that one of my most beloved weapons was (probably unintentionally) damaged by a visual bug.

New prismatic recaster looks black armory themed to me

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 07:53 PM PST

Posted this on raid secrets the other day but it never actually showed up, so I'm trying it again here.

Old recaster for reference. Here's the new one in the twab.

There's no specific BA branding or iconography that I can see, but the much more refined build, the white borders, and the 'c' shapes of the white borders and the housing for the decoder all scream BA to me.

Black armory logo with the 'c' shape.

The glass panel floors allowing viewing access of the machinery also screams black armory to me, I'm not sure why. Some parts of the black armory room had glass floors but not extremely reminiscent.

Of course I could be crazy, and this is just a refined prismatic recaster. What do y'all think?

    EDIT:

Keypad is the same as what flashes on our vaults. I know the pic isn't very good, but if you go in game it's pretty clear.

The umbral decoder uses a similar hologram design that the cryptarch does. It makes sense.

/u/7ThShadian reminded me that this is very braytech, which is right. They are a fan of glass paneling and white lines. Personally, I think it may be a joint effort between Ada and one of the Bray's.

    I miss menagerie :(

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 07:17 AM PST

Even the reckoning, escalation protocol, the mercury strikes and just all the shit gone. I miss it all. The crucible maps gone, my favorite guns gone/obsolete. All the cool weapons I have sharded gone, RIP my bygones with slideshot and rampage. Am just sad not even angry. This not a structured critic of the state of the game I just miss stuff. I considered my self someone who enjoyed pvp and pve but now I just play pvp which also just a freakshow, pve is a shell of itself. Beyond light is cool, but it will never be menagerie cool :(

Oh also trials makes me sad, can't get three wins to get a mediocre rocket launcher. Guess I have to grind obscene amount of matches and deaths to open that one engram saint 14 offers as a participation token to casual players to get a rocket launcher with threat detector and underdog. Very cool.

Miss using my beloved, I miss my austringer, my parcel of stardust, oh that beautiful shotgun, the only lightweight with opening shot, now it sits in my vault collecting dust because am not "progressive" enough to shard it.

Well thats 1000 hours down the drain. GG bungie.

    Strike Exclusive Loot should return!

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 01:39 PM PST

This is the BIGGEST thing I've been missing from Destiny 1, true and worthwhile Strike exclusive gear that gives me a much larger incentive to play the Strike playlist, or hone in on a singular strike and grind it.

Nightfall exclusives are NICE, but nothing beats the original design and format of Strike exclusive gear. Don't get me wrong, I love that we're getting Nightfall exclusive weapons with Adept versions from GM Ordeals, but... the playlist strikes just have no reason to be run outside of your weekly pinnacle/bounty.(which is changing next season)

They NEED something, and I believe that something being Strike exclusive loot would be perfect. Here's my idea for how this should be done--

    • Strike exclusive gear would be UNCAPPED in power level until their respective Strike gets vaulted. This would mean Bungie would have to let us know well ahead of time that a Destination is being Vaulted at the beginning of the next Destiny year.
    • There would be one Weapon and one Armor piece per strike.
    • Many reprisals of old Strike weapons would happen, but going the route the Moon/DC reprisals went, with new perk rolls.
    • There would be Curated drops for the weapons, these drops would have perks not obtainable on the weapon normally, as is the same with most Curated drops.
    • Armor would have a higher chance to drop with high stats based on the playlist. Loading a specific strike would result in a low chance for high stats, Vanguard playlist would have a moderate chance, while the higher difficulty Nightfalls would have higher chances, with GMs having the highest chance.

Here are my ideas for each Strike's reward tables! I'd come up with Perk ideas for at least Curated rolls, but it would be kinda effortless considering we don't know what perks are coming in for future seasons. Regardless, here they are--

    The Inverted Spire
    Weapon: Silicon Neuroma
    Armor: Modular Greaves (Titan Boots)

    Exodus Crash
Weapon: Scavenger's Spite (Arc Rapid-Fire Grenade Launcher)
Armor: Junker's Vest (Hunter Chest Piece)

    The Insight Terminus
    Weapon: The Long Goodbye
    Armor: Technocrat's Strides (Hunter Boots)

    Lake of Shadows
    Weapon: Militia's Birthright
Armor: Lost Will Gauntlets (Titan Arms)

    The Arms Dealer
    Weapon: D.F.A
    Armor: Zahn's Grips (Hunter Arms)

    The Corrupted
    Weapon: Horror's Least
Armor: Corrupted Robes (Warlock Chest Piece)

    Warden of Nothing
    Weapon: Warden's Law
    Armor: Prison Shackles (Titan Mark)

    The Broodhold
    Weapon: Duty Bound
Armor: Brood Queen Shroud (Hunter Cloak)

    The Hallowed Lair
    Weapon: Mindbender's Ambition
Armor: Helm of Fikrul (Titan Helmet)

    The Scarlet Keep
Weapon: The Scarlet Echo (Solar Aggressive Hand Cannon)
Armor: Mask of the Keep (Hunter Helmet)

    The Glassway
    Weapon: BrayTech Osprey
Armor: Transcendent Chassis (Titan Chest Piece)

    The Disgraced
Weapon: Grasp of Navota (Kinetic Rapid-Fire Pulse Rifle)
    Armor: Navota Bond (Warlock Bond)

    The Devils' Lair
Weapon: Devil's Dawn (Arc Aggressive Sniper Rifle)
Armor: Sepiks Deposed Bond (Warlock Bond)

    Fallen S.A.B.E.R.
Weapon: Baron's Ambition (Solar Adaptive Machine Gun)
    Armor: Devouring Maw (Warlock Helmet)

This successfully reprises EVERY currently sunset Nightfall exclusive weapon(in fitting Strikes as well) from Year 1 and 2 of Destiny 2, adds in a couple new ones(to Exodus Crash and The Scarlet Keep specifically), while bringing back old Destiny ones.(Disgraced, Devil's Lair, and Fallen S.A.B.E.R.)

There's also a good variety when it comes to loot drops. Plenty of Warlock, Hunter, and Titan armor drops. Plus, the weapons in the loot pool help fill in currently lacking weapon types as well.

Feedback would be great! Also, is this something you guys want to see return?

The Harbinger mission is the perfect example of Barricades crippling flaws.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 05:57 PM PST

AoE attacks constantly finding their way around it, uneven ground making you having to double or even triple cast just to pop the thing, slow summon time (Like Rift) makes it useless in a pinch, and when you're pushed from it, AI boss units can use it as cover.

I really wish Bungie would let it negate attacks from AI instead of just blocking them and give it a faster placement speed. Also if a boss unit walks into the barricade, it should explode like a grenade dealing damage to them.

Also show Rift some love too.

    I miss *legendary* weapons

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 09:43 PM PST

Remember back when legendary meant it had a story and lore? Remember finding Toland the Shattered's auto-rifle in a strike? Remember when the MAIN VILLAIN OF A DLC was teased in the name of the best pulse in the game? Remember when gear that wasn't from the raid felt like it could be? Unique rolls, cool lore, unique look. Falling Guillotine hits 2 points, but there's no story to it. The same can be said for so many other guns. I MISS WIELDING ARTIFACTS OF ANCIENT ALIEN GODS TO KILL THEIR WEIRD NEPHEW. That's all

    Forge our own armour

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 04:21 AM PST

Would be cool to have a season on Iron Lords where we could forge our own armour. You'd get a base set of armour and could unlock ornaments based on what you're character does over the season. I got the idea after watching the Madolarian. If there was enough variety I think it would be cool as each guardian would have a unique(ish) look based on what activities they enjoy the most.

Core playlist weapons and armor from vendors should have static armors and weapons from these playlists to create a way for New Light players to have an easier barrier of entry.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 08:20 PM PST

I miss the days of having weapon and vendors for both Vanguard and Crucible. You could get every type of core playlist weapon as a static role or try getting the reputation up with bounties for a random roll. It gave every one an easy way to get a weapon type for each slot by playing that core playlist. This needs to return in some form for the vendors. It's not a suggestion. This should literally be a given due to it being a major staple of D1. I hate having to explain to most of my New Light friends that "try" to play the game when they have little idea where some of the main weapons are. There should always be easily targeted loot using the core vendors.

We need to always have a weapon with ease of access and not lost to winds of the world loot pool like 'Long Shadow' and 'Toil and Trouble'. My New Light friend grinded 300 Vanguard tokens this week just to try getting one of those two weapons and spent 400 gunsmith materials. He got 14 pieces of armor and only one weapon from Zavala and only heavy weapons from Banshee.

I hope with umbrel engrams coming back, the targeted "seasonal" loot is easier to get. But certain types of weapons, specifically "core playlist" weapons, should not also be straight up locked behind a massive world loot pool. Seasonal loot should be targeted using the Umbral engrams. Meanwhile, the core playlists should have one of each core playlist weapon and armor have a static or curated roll avaiable at the core vendor like in D1. D1 had two vendors for each core playlist, one for weapons and another for armor. But the format could easily be upgraded to D2 based on the current weapon drop and armor drop formats like seen at the Drifter. The armor and weapons at the core playlist vendor would then only be avaiable as masterworked/curated when bought using a combination of glimmer and enhancement cores.

Meaning both armor and weapons are not easily accessible, but very visible and "can be targeted" with enough enhancement cores for core playlist weapons with a curated roll or the core playlist armor would be accessible using "lower" masterworked stats to still give new players a full armor set for full mod support.

Note: The "Curated" armor would only return a third of cores used to buy this armor since it would take cores to buy or else this could easily be abused. So say a curated piece of armor is 10 cores with 50000 glimmer to buy. Your return if you dismantle is 3-4 enhancement cores instead of prisms.
