    Focused Feedback: Sunsetting

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 09:42 AM PST

    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Sunsetting' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Give Wishender and Xenophage a catalyst and put them in their dungeons so we have another reason to go back into them.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 03:59 PM PST

Rotating the weekly pinnacle between all three dungeons would be another reason to replay them.

The catalysts should be a random drop from the final boss.

Catalyst progress should be from completing their dungeons.

Wishender catalyst should be faster drawtime and anti barrier.

Xenophage catalyst should be auto-loading holster.

    Hawthorne is pretty outdated

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 11:52 AM PST

I was visiting Hawthorne for my clan engram today and she was going off on her usual monologue about Ghaul and I realized that he isn't even in the game anymore! Shouldn't this be updated? New Light players won't know who Ghaul is lmao

Also - her gear offerings are pretty trash, just some uncommon gear you would earn from leveling up during the Red War campaign that also happens to not be in the game anymore. I think there should be some clan themed loot sets like the Vanguard, Gambit, and Crucible have but for Hawthorne to offer when you claim an engram. Like for her weekly Crucible bounty, it would be cool if that bounty earned you a piece of armor or a weapon from Hawthorne.

Destiny is at its best when there’s a 6 man match made activity to jump in and have fun!

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 02:31 AM PST

I believe there should be a 4th core game mode along side gambit, strikes and the crucible. It should be a 6 player mode with new loot each year and a couple guns added each season maybe? It should be like menagerie and sundial but it shouldn't ever go away, the game always needs a 6 player fun mode to do encounters and destroy bosses!

Some ideas, put exo frame rasputin in charge of the 6 player mode and give us SIVA weapons along side a way to get warmind cell mods?

Give the mode to the emissary of the nine, give us the trials of the nine weapons back with random rolls.

Give it to the factions, whoever you represent faction wise is the loot that drops?

    Edit. Silver!? Thanks random guardian!

My 7 year old daughter and I shared earbuds today for a run of DSC. This run Turned out to be the most memorable run of my Destiny clear.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 09:21 PM PST

Quick edit: Destiny Career* the pure joy and happiness took over and my grammar took a backseat

A little background on how we decided to share earbuds for this run. My daughter who is 7 has always asked me 1000s of questions about destiny over the years. She plays on my account just jumping around and loves how destiny looks and how "you can play dress up with your character."

She got an Xbox s for Xmas and it is set up next to my PlayStation so we can game on monitors next to each other. I told her I was about to run a quick run with the boys and then it was bed time. This time around she asked if we could share my earbuds with me so she could listen to what's going on and talk to my friends.

I hopped into chat and said "hey guys my daughter is joining us today let's keep it pg." they welcomed her with open arms and away we went.

Through each encounter I would explain to her the base mechanics and she would repeat it back to me to see if she got it right. She was completely blown away by how many moving pieces there were for us to execute at the same time.

The sparrow part really confused her because she didn't understand why it had to blizzard so hard that we couldn't see. Her overall thought was "it's like playing Mario kart in the snow"

We get to crypt security and I explained to her the base of scanner and operator. I usually run operator down below so she got a first hands look down below. After some explaining she understood that scanner allowed you to "see" and operator allowed you to "do things" as she put it. After I hit all 4 panels down below. I told her how to call out which fuse to call out. She did it beautifully and the guys all hyped her up. The smile on her face was from ear to ear.

We get to Atraks and I explained to her what was going on. I run bottom scanner and told her one of them turn yellow and when we see one of them turn yellow we call it out. She was so stoked that she got to talk to the boys again and call out which one to hit. She did it perfectly and we easily one phased it.

We got to the jumping puzzle. I told her I'm going to turn the chat off so she can listen to the music for the first time because it was my favorite in the game. She fell in love with it. And guess what? She had me play it at bedtime tonight so she could fall asleep.

We get to the next part and I again give her the low down but explained suppressor to her and she seemed to get it. We were scanner this time and told her there was only 3 combos the bins would appear in. Top, bottom, right. When you see them turn yellow tell the team. Luckily we never lost scanner this round. When you could see the windows engulfed in fire she was stunned to see that we were actually falling from space. She said "we need to hurry up daddy and beat this!" She zoned in even more and called the bins out perfectly and off we went.

At this point Riley is beside herself blown away by how beautiful DSC is and that my clan buddies were accepting and loving her tagging along helping us beat it. All at the same time I'm watching her fall in love with destiny that has been so close to my heart for the past 5/6 years.

Taniks. The grand finale. Our job this time was suppressor. 4 bomb strat easy one phase. Rileys job? Count down from 15 once taniks comes back to the middle. So the Titan in the team knew when to throw his bubble up. We start the run and Taniks comes to the middle. It's her turn, she's up. She starts counting... The boys are going nuts hyping her up. She hits 1 the bubble goes up and it's damage phase. PERFECT TIMING. She is so stoked she did it first try. We one phase him and the raid is over.

We get our loot. Still no launcher, and say our goodbyes. She asked me on the side if she could ask them if she can raid with them again. They all said yes, and she exploded with happiness and excitement. We said bye to everyone and they said "bye it was great running with you riley."

Bungie. Thank you for creating a game that could produce such an experience with my 7 year old daughter. Thanks for having an absolute kick ass community. Thanks for pouring your hearts into this game and creating such amazing experiences.

A new guardian was born today. Destiny is downloading on my old PlayStation right now and she can not wait to make her character and take to the stars in the morning. This moment, this raid, is something she will forever cherish and so will I. She was talking about it all the way until she fell asleep tonight. It filled my heart with joy to see the moment she fell in love with destiny the same way I had years ago.

As guardians we should not be collecting and keeping the feathers from the Hawkmoon mission, because it’s illegal.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 04:45 PM PST

Per the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, it is illegal to collect and keep feathers unless it's a game bird, which the hawk is not.

This is a federal law, and Bungie is encouraging this action. I request the feathers be replaced with flowers.

(Almost) all the stuff we know is coming in Season 13

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 06:02 AM PST

    Hey Guardians!

With Season 13 just a few weeks away, I thought I'd round up the info of all the things we know are coming next season. This information is complied mostly from TWABs and dev tweets. If I missed something, please let me know!

    World

    • The Reverie Dawn set from the Dreaming City and the Dreambane set from the Moon will be reissued, meaning that they will be available to earn with higher power caps.
    • Four weapons from each destination will also be reissued.
    • These weapons consist of: Waking Vigil, Sleepless, Vouchsafe, and Retold Tale for the Dreaming City, and Apostate, Heretic, Blasphemer and Premonition for the Moon.
    • Amongst other sources, these weapons and armour can both be earned in the Dreaming City and the Moon's respective dungeons: Shattered Throne for the former and Pit of Heresy for the latter.
    • Weapons from the dungeon can roll with exclusive perks, and armour dropped from the dungeons will drop with higher stats. Premonition will only drop in the Pit of Heresy dungeon on the Moon.
    • The final chest in the Pit of Heresy dungeon on the moon will no longer drop masterworked armour. Instead it will give Dreambane armour with 7 energy, higher stats, and at least a +16 in two different stats.
    • The four lost sectors on the Moon will gain legendary and master variants, similarly to the lost sectors on Europa and in the Cosmodrome.
    • I will flail through these lost sectors like a headless chicken when they come out, then give up and find a guide.

    (Source: TWAB 1/14/2021)

    • There will be three new exotic armour pieces available to earn in legendary and master lost sectors.

(Source: Destiny 2 Dev Update - Rewards)

    Playlist Activities

    • Six new weapons will be available to be earned from Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit, with each mode gaining two new weapons each.
    • These weapons will drop alongside Xenoclast IV, Stars in Shadow and Crowd Pleaser from Season of the Hunt.
    • Nightfall strikes will gain an extra three weapons that will be exclusive to Nightfalls, consisting of the Palindrome, Shadow Price and the Swarm from Destiny 1.
    • Adept versions of these Nightfall exclusive guns will be available from Grandmaster Nightfalls.
    • Two new reprised strikes are being added - Fallen S.A.B.E.R. and Devil's Lair.

(Source: Destiny 2 Dev Update - Rewards)

    • Crucible tokens will be deprecated, and replaced with a new progression system that will allow you to see and claim your rewards from Shaxx instead of dumping 200 tokens and praying for a decent Last Dance.
    • The rewards you earn will be a lot more reliable this way - for example, your first Valor reset each season will award you with a guaranteed Ascendant Shard.
    • This progression system will also be applied to Gambit, but not strikes yet - strikes will be updated in a future season.

    (Source: TWAB 1/14/2021)

    • Trials of Osiris will receive new armour, accessories, and weapons in season 13 that are not based on D1 gear. (This is from an old TWAB, so it may not still be the case. Game development is hard. Game development in a pandemic is maddeningly difficult.)
    • There will be a new Pursuit weapon available in season 13. Like Adored, you'll be able to earn it in either Gambit, Crucible or Strikes, and can earn ornaments for it based on each core activity. (Thanks u/hunterprime66!)

    (Source: TWAB 5/7/2020)

    Seasonal

    • The majority of Season of the Hunt will continue to be available in Season 13 and the rest of Year 4. Story missions, Wrathborn hunts, the Adored ritual weapon quest, Crow's vendor screen on the Tangled Shore, the Hawkmoon quest and Harbinger activity, and the Warden title are all staying.
    • If you want the Bungie Rewards seal, you'll still need to claim it by the end of season deadline (this deadline has been delayed slightly as the title is bugged. Thanks u/jkichigo for pointing this out!)
    • Crow's bounties, messages from the field (transmissions you can receive in Zavala's office), the seasonal artifact and season pass will all be removed from the game come season 13.
    • As Season of the Hunt wasn't initially designed to stick around for a whole year, there may be a few minor discrepancies. For example, Crow will be in two places at once next season - he will remain in the Tangled Shore for Wrathborn stuff while also being in a new location.
    • Crow being in two places at once is definitely not a ploy by Savathûn to make us question everything and grow increasingly paranoid. Aiat.
    • Umbral Engrams will return after making their debut in season 11.
    • They can be earned fastest from the new seasonal activity, but can also be earned by playing pretty much any activity, from patrols to Exo challenges to Blind Well.
    • Umbral Engrams are a special type of legendary engram that can be focused to narrow down the loot that they drop.
    • A new kiosk called the Prismatic Recaster will let you focus your Umbral Engrams, but you'll still need to use an Umbral Decoder to open it.
    • It is unknown if Drifter's beloved trash can will also return from Season of Arrivals.
    • You will be able to re-earn certain titles in season 13, such as Dredgen, Flawless, Unbroken and Conqueror, to 'gild' them.

    (Source: TWAB 1/21/2020)

    Everything Else

    • DDoS protection for all console users will arrive in season 13.

(Source: Destiny 2 Dev Update - Rewards)

    • Assistant Game Director Joe Blackburn will publish a 'state of Destiny 2 in 2021' article to discuss the direction of the game and Bungie's plans for the future.

    (Source: Joe Blackburn's Twitter)

    • Planetary materials from vaulted destinations (Alkane Dust, Phaseglass Needles, Simulation Seeds and Seraphite) will no longer be accepted by vendors, but if you still have a surplus by season 13, Spider will buy them from you for glimmer.
    • These materials will NOT be deleted from your inventories, so feel free to hang onto them for sentimental value.
    • Weekly bounties may be replaced by a non-expiring, account-based set of weekly objectives that will grant a lot of season rank progress. (This was targeted to be implemented in Season 13, but it's from an old TWAB and I don't think we've heard anything new about it, so it may not come to pass.)

(Source: TWAB 10/29/2020. Thank you u/starkillerzx for pointing this out!)

Stuff that probably isn't coming in season 13

    • Vault of Glass (coming Year 4)
    • Crossplay (coming 2021)

Stuff that definitely isn't coming in season 13

    • Transmog (coming season 14)

(Source for these three: Destiny 2 Dev Update - Rewards)

That's about everything I could remember off the top of my head! I hope this has been informative, and please comment if I missed anything. I've tried to base this on as much information from Bungie as possible, but if something doesn't arrive in season 13, please don't use this list to harass the devs. Constructive criticism is fine, but not when it crosses over into nastiness. Devs are people too.

Hope you all have an awesome day!

As we are often asked how we feel with playing destiny, as someone who enjoys casual PvP, being frozen makes me unhappy. Freezing others doesn't make me feel good.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 07:16 PM PST

Honestly, I'm just tired of stasis in PvP. I hate getting frozen. I don't even like freezing people. Maybe it's controversial, but I wish stasis would just get the novawarp treatment.

Finest Matterweaves need to be altered or just removed from the game.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 08:36 AM PST

Just let us break them down for the cores and get rid of them. All of the FM sources/drops should just become cores. It just adds unnecessary steps to getting 1 unit of currency.

I'd rather monotonously grind Legend Lost Sectors, Nightfall: The Ordeals, or hell even spam Rahools legendary engram for Enhancement Cores than open my character screen, go into my inventory, activate the Finest Matterweave every single time I kill a major+.

IF Bungie wanted to change the nature of these Finest Matterweaves to give players the opportunity to get 1-3 cores after killing Majors+ with a higher chance at 2-3 for bosses than I don't think anyone would argue their usefulness.

Bungie, could we please get double/triple xp weekends the closer we get to the end of the season?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 09:19 AM PST

Would be a great help for those with a late start (or can't play as often) to the season pass!

Edit: Notice a lot of people saying "hitting 100 is easy". I know it is. But people who work and have to balance family life (yet still want to play their favorite game) don't get the luxury of hitting level 100 on the season pass in just a couple of days. I don't see any harm in throwing in some extra xp weekends so that working family folks can play catch up.

I hope the Season 13 exotic armor does to warlocks what BL exotics did for other classes

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 04:22 PM PST

I love how Beyond Light introduced exotic armor that actually granted you a whole new class ability - an overshield for the titan, and a teleport for the hunter.

But warlock, for some reason, didn't get the same treatment and while Necrotic grip is a very cool exotic, i'd love something that completely changes your approach to rifts.

So, I just finished my solo Harbinger after nearly 7 total hours and I have just one thing to say:

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 09:29 PM PST

I am very proud of myself for finally completing it. As someone with a quite severe coordination disability, high stress solo content is very difficult for me, and this is the first time I've actually managed to solo something relatively difficult. This is probably gonna get lost in all the other posts lmao, but for all of you that are also struggling with it, or other content, you can do it! Just be sure to take breaks if you're getting frustrated, and if today isn't working out for you, there's always tomorrow, the content will still be there! Also, if anyone wants any tips at all for how I did each part of Harbinger, I'm more than happy to help! Thank u sm to everyone that read this far, and good luck to everyone that's also trying to solo it!

No Distractions is a pretty useless perk. Would it be too OP if it also enabled your radar while aiming?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:51 PM PST

It could activate your radar at the same time as the perk triggers, so you'd have to ADS for like 2 seconds before it becomes visible. I think this could make No Distractions a viable perk, or would that be broken?

Can we just turn old crucible ornaments into universal ones?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 07:35 PM PST

I have these old crucible ornaments from season 2 and 3 and I really like them. It sucks because they can only be put on crucible armor, which I have no good stat rolls of. It just makes me sad that these great looking ornaments can't be used on 99 percent of armor.

Can we please sort our vault by power cap?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 11:57 AM PST

Now firstly, I don't want this to become a discussion on sunsetting, it's a thing, let's deal with it and move on for the sake of this suggestion.

I would love the option to sort my vault by maximum power cap, so I can group up all my soon to be sunset items.

This came about as I noticed the season of dawn loot will be sunset after this current season ends. I really enjoyed some of the weapons from the season, in fact breachlight is still my go to sidearm.

I just want to take my favourite loot out for one last spin before they start fading away.

How to farm Bunker E15 Legend Lost sector in less than 2 minutes on ANY class

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 01:20 PM PST

Bunker E15 is probably the longest lost sector to run on 1250, with the main difficulty coming from the boss room. The hydra boss has an annoying shield but also teleports around and has huge AOE void attacks that can hit you through walls. Most of the consideration of the builds is focused on dealing with the boss room.

For warlocks, devour is a no brainer here, not only is the super incredibly strong against the boss, the constant healing is insanely strong against the countless pools of vex bullshit you constantly have to deal with. The mods needed are energy converter, stacks on stacks, taking charge, global reach and lucent blade. You'll want at least 70 (preferably 90) intelligence but recovery isn't that relevant since you'll have devour up most of the time. Transversive steps is highly recommended but not actually that important in the overall run.

For hunters, bottom tree nightstalker was my choice. The invis helps in the middle room and the super can effectively kill the boss by itself. Make sure to have dynamo on your helm as you'll need it to make sure your super charges in time. Mods I used were lucent blade, global reach, taking charge, stacks on stacks, and protective light. I went with 70 mobility, 70 recovery and 90 int and orpheus rigs as the exotic.

For titans, bubble is the way to go. Since titans don't have a good void damage super, bubbling the boss and swording it to death inside the bubble is the next best thing. Mods I used were abyssal charge, heavy handed, taking charge, lucent blade, and global reach. I went with 100 recovery, and as much strength as possible. Int isn't that relevant here since we're using doomfangs which will give you super energy very easily, but at least 50 should give you a decent safety net.

For weapons, Black talons as always is excellent here because of void burn. Seventh seraph cqc is also a must have as it 1 shots most vex enemies and the warmind cells are very important in clearing out rooms. Finally for kinetic, any scout rifle with explosive payload is adequate, and is mainly just used in the beginning room to stun the captain.

The strategy for the first room is to stun the captain ASAP, shoot 2 black talon ranged attacks, then finish him off with the CQC to spawn a warmind cell. Shooting the cell should clear out most of not all the enemies in the room and is a HUGE time saver instead of having to hunt them all down 1 by 1. For hunters, make sure to proc dynamo at least once and for titans, make sure to get a void melee kill for super purposes.

Once the door opens, shoot the cube (sometimes the warmind cell in the first room will have already detonated it so you won't need to) and run downstairs. Kill all 3 vex goblins with the CQC (subtract 1 for every dreg you had to kill with the CQC in the first room), this ensures that the next enemy we kill with the cqc spawns a cell. Kill the void minotaue with black talons and proceed down to the next room, making sure to grab any orbs of power that spawned.

Here, (for warlocks, proc devour with what should be 2 charges of light to proc energy converter) kill the first vex you see and shoot the cell that spawns, this should clear out most of the room. Go up and shoot 4 more vex until another cell spawns and leave it for when the cyclops appears, the blow it up. For warlocks, just sword everything to death, saving 2 charged attacks for the barrier and 1 for the cyclops. For titans and hunters, be very careful about the vex pools, and try to stay alive while killing off enemies with sword/shotgun, being sure to save at least 5 shotgun shots for the boss room.

For the boss room, go right and shoot the 4 vex closest to you to spawn a warmind cell and blow it up immediately. Switch to your (hopefully charged) black talon, and take out the wyvern with 2 right clicks. Proceed around the room clearing out the remaining vex with your shotgun/sword (making sure to have enough sword ammo for the boss, hunters need at least 13 ammo, warlocks need 21 ammo and titans need at least 30-35 ammo).

As the boss is spawning, warlocks and hunters should run up near the chest and be ready to charge attack twice and then pop super, killing the boss with additional sword attacks as necessary as well as finishing off the overload that spawns next to the chest with 2 charged attacks.

For titans, pop the bubble where the boss spawns and hit him with charged attacks interweaved by light attacks while your sword energy is charging, its important that you keep hitting him so he doesn't teleport away. After he dies the overload champion will spawn and should wander into your bubble. Show him he made the worst mistake of his life by ending it quickly with 2 charged black talon attacks.

Note that the boss usually spawns 2 overloads but if you burst him down (as we are doing with all 3 strats), he will only spawn 1 and you will get platinum regardless.

Skyburner's Oath isn't as bad as people say

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 08:23 PM PST

After seeing multiple people complain how bad Skyburner's Oath is, i decided to try it myself and it's really quite decent! The hip-fire has no damage falloff, when the projectiles explode it counts as solar slash damage so it can generate warmind cells, it does decent damage for what it is and it's super easy and intuitive to use. Yea the "For the Empire" Perk has no use except the full auto it gives but other than that it ain't that bad.
And TO SHOW YOU THE POWER OF SKYBURNER'S OATH... I INFESTED A LOST SECTOR WITH CHAMPIONS AND CLEARED IT USING MAINLY SKYBURNER'S OATH: https://youtu.be/Nc37lEktIbA

Adept Charge Time mod - How Bungie screwed up again

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 09:32 AM PST

Leading up to this week there has been some speculation that the Adept Charge Time mod, which dropped in Trials a few weeks ago, would lower charge time without lowering impact. After testing, this is untrue. It still lowers impact.

*Why was there speculation it would be different*? Well, a couple of reasons. First and most importantly, there is no visual indication that it lowers impact! Unlike a perk like Accelerated Coils, Adept Charge Time does not say that it changes your impact at all. It straight up lies to you.

Secondly, some people naively hoped that Bungie learned from their mistakes with Charge Time MW and Accelerated Coils. These perks are extremely undesirable in Crucible because they cause the weapon to KO less consistently. Without Accelerated Coils, an Exile's Curse can KO a guardian with 6 resilience or less with exactly 4 bolts of damage. With Accelerated Coils, guardians with 4, 5, or 6 resilience all survive 4 bolts of damage. For readers who don't play much crucible, this is noteworthy because the huge majority of players are rocking more than 3 resilience, but less than 7 resilience. I'd estimate 95% of the players, especially in Trials, fall in this range. At this point, it makes more sense to just run a Main Ingredient since you'll need 5 bolts either way.

And finally, some people thought this reward would function better because of how you obtain it/how rare it is. You see, you had to go flawless not once, but twice on separate weeks in order to get both the mod and fusion rifle. The fusion rifle is then gated behind a brutal layer of RNG. The odds of getting a good roll are limited by its mostly terrible perk pool, and the number of attempts you get per week (only 3 guaranteed drops for players good enough to visit the lighthouse.)

So why then, given all of this information, does the Adept Charge Time mod lower impact? The only explanation I have is that Bungie is very lazy. It's crazy to think that this reward respects a player's time investment in any way. And the lack of any visual indicator showing that the mod lowers impact almost feels like Bungie hoped people wouldn't notice that the mod makes the weapon worse.

As a mostly PvP player, this season has felt truly awful from a reward standpoint. RNG for Adept Weapons makes usable rolls virtually impossible to get. The system just highlights how horrible the reward/RNG slot machine infrastructure is. Grinding for hours to get ONE roll of ONE weapon only to have it roll Field Prep + Celerity is a kick in the teeth. The Adept Weapon/Mod system is half-baked and not rewarding (I can't wait to get my Adept Rocket Launcher! /s) Competitive has been weirdly forgotten. I would play the hell out of competitive if there were unique ornaments every season for maxing your glory. Even one unique ornament!!! And of course the volume of rewards is horrific as well, which is the largest reason casual players won't dip their toes in Trials. Losses should reward tokens, end of match rewards should return, and Saint should allow you to focus your tokens towards specific rewards (especially specific rolls of specific rewards.) Adept weapons should be curated or controllable somewhat.

TLDR; Trials loot is unrewarding, Adept rewards are a masochistic nightmare, and Adept Charge Time masterwork was a great troll on Bungie's part.
