    Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

Everybody seems to want a horde mode, myself included. I know that horde mode suggestions are a dime a dozen here, but hear me out on this one.

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 08:16 PM PST

    Basic things

    - This mode would have a normal mode and a hard mode.

    - Hard mode would give all enemies more health or more damage, changes High-Value targetmechanics (see "What makes it unique") and would offer different rewards.

    - Normal mode would be six-man match-made, while hard mode would not be.

    - This mode would have endless waves, when the last person on your team dies everybody gets instantly revived, the enemies disappear, and a rewards chest spawns in the center of the room.

    - The activity starts with enemies at 1050 power, and every 10 waves, there is a boss. Killing the boss raises the enemies' power level.

    - Each team member has 5 revives to begin.

    What makes it unique

    - It's a little bit like Gambit in the sense that in any given round you can be fighting Fallen, Taken, Vex, Hive, or Scorn.

    - Every round, there is a 5% of a yellow-bar enemy with a Wrathful buff spawning, and when you kill it you gain the Wrathful buff for briefly increased damage against all enemies.

    - Spawn locations for groups of enemies would be randomly chosen among a large number of possible spawn points.

    - Every five rounds a High-Value target would spawn in a certain area of the map, and this enemy would drop a mote.

    - In Hard Mode, these enemies would spawn every four rounds instead, and they would bechampions.

    - These motes could be banked at terminals around the room for different assets in the fight.

    - 2 motes: Extra revive for whoever banks

    - 8 motes: Extra revive for everyone

    - 2 motes: Braytech security frame

    - 2 motes: Three Fallen Pikes

    - 5 motes: Mounted Turret (can be placed anywhere, only three can be purchased)

    - 3 motes: Placeable wall (only three of these can be purchased)

    - 10 motes: Drake Tank

    Boss Order

Vex Hive Fallen Taken Cabal Scorn
Level 10: 1050 Power Minotaur Knight Captain Phalanx Incendior Chieftain
Level 20: 1100 Power Wyvern Shrieker Servitor Hobgoblin Psion* Ravager
Level 30: 1150 Power Cyclops Wizard Marauder* Captain Centurion Abomination
Level 40: 1180 Power Hydra Ogre Heavy Shank Wizard Colossus Chieftain
Level 50: 1200 Power Praetorian (VoG is coming back, why not?) Vanquisher + Adherents Brig Minotaur Thresher Ravager
Level 60: 1220 Power Minotaur Knight Captain Ogre Incendior Abomination
Level 70: 1250 Power Wyvern Shrieker Servitor Knight Psion* Chieftain
Level 80: 1260 Power Cyclops Vanquisher + Adherents Marauder* Centurion Centurion Ravager
Level 90: 1280 Power Hydra Wizard Heavy Shank Chimera Colossus Abomination
Level 100: 1300 Power Praetorian Ogre Brig Techeun* Thresher Fikrul*

\* These bosses would be the reskinned strike bosses Thaviks, Sedia, Kargen, and The Fanatic, but they would have far more health and no immune/orb shield/disappearing mechanics.

After clearing Level 100, the boss order will simply reset, and with each consecutive set of 10 waves and a boss the power level will increase by 5. So, level 200 would be power level 1350.

    Rewards:

Clear level 50 once a week: 2 Enhancement Prisms

Complete 3 runs per week: Pinnacle Gear

Clear level 100 once a week: Ascendant Shard

Clear level 100: Triggers an exotic quest

    Planetary Materials:

    Level 30 Level 80
Fallen 5 Glacial Stalwort 25 Glacial Stalwort
Hive 5 Helium Filaments 25 Helium Filaments
Vex 5 Microphastic Datalattice 25 Microphastic Datalattice
Taken 5 Bayron Bough 25 Bayron Bough
Cabal 5 Dusklight Shard 25 Dusklight Shard
Scorn 5 Etheric Spiral 25 Etheric Spiral

Exotic Catalysts (These catalysts don't have to give already overpowered exotics an extra crazy perk, just the ability to make orbs and a minor stat buff.)

12% chance, Level 90 15% chance, Level 90 (Hard Mode)
    Fallen Queenbreaker Catalyst Anarchy Catalyst
    Hive Deathbringer Catalyst Thorn Catalyst
    Vex Bastion Catalyst Divinity Catalyst
Taken Malfeasance Catalyst One Thousand Voices Catalyst
Cabal Heir Apparent Catalyst Tarrabah Catalyst
Scorn Wavesplitter Catalyst Monte Carlo Catalyst

The chest at the end of the encounter would include a slotting mechanic like the Cryptolith Lure, and the more rounds you have completed, the more specific weapon options, stat masterwork options, and perk inclusions/exclusions you have.

    Why this should be implemented:

    - It would reward players for getting to high light levels more than just grandmaster NFs, Trials, or master lost sectors do.

    - High replayability value, due to the randomization of the right factors in gameplay, and the RNG not being terrible.

    - Six-person matchmade activities were the community's favorite seasonal activities.

    - If there's enough good loot, people will want to farm specific rolls of these guns, and they'll play this activity for a longer amount of time instead of die on purpose after a certain point if clearing more levels meant more options for loot customizations.

    - A lot of exotics don't have catalysts yet (even if the catalyst is just an orb-maker), and tying these catalysts to a fun seasonal activity where the RNG isn't terrible will just further people's motivation to play this.

    - Imagine the hype that would be generated for the game when streamers start challenging each other to see who can get farther, and trying to break each others' records.

    - Above all, it would be FUN. You could be the all-powerful alien slayer mowing down endless hordes of enemies you always wanted to be.

Having to replay the entire campaign and grind to get Stasis unlocked on our alts is not fun

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 05:39 AM PST

Logged into my dusty old titan yesterday with the naive plan of unlocking stasis for her...two missions in and I logged back off. I'm not the first (or the last!) person to mention it but man it is not fun at all. I wouldn't pay real money to bring her up to 1250 but I would pay up to six dollars to avoid that grind and get her stasis unlocked. Six dollars. There's my offer, Bungie. The ball is in your court.

The age of Leveling System is getting really old, chasing a number should not be the main incentive to play D2. This needs to be renovated.

Datto also has talked about this issue in his recent video. Be sure to check it out before commenting. (Time Stamp: 5:32) (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jT8xjUpxU_Y)

I would like to know what any in this subreddit thinks or maybe any suggestions of what Bungie could do to overhaul the Leveling system. Also, there are no wrong answers just want a discussion about this.

Aztecross' new video raises good points about the current weapon design philosophy

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 12:57 PM PST

    Video: https://youtu.be/i4teTJ8geOQ

Basically he says that Bungie went alot more wild and took risks with the Black Armory weapons. They had perks like Rampage and Kill Clip together or Kill Clip on a high impact sniper, Box Breathing on a 180 scout etc.

If sunsetting is going to continue what is the point in releasing weapons with incredibly unsatisfying perk combinations? Is anyone really that excited to chase a Royal Chase? The DSC weapons are really good but that's the saving grace of the past few seasons.

The Seraph weapons had some truly bad perk combinations but they're good just because of Warmind Cells.

Bungie, why can nightmare hunts be set to 1280 difficulty but the armor used to do the hunts is deprecated?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 03:57 PM PST

Why do nightmare hunts exist at all? The armor used to do the hunts is capped at 1060 but the hunts can be set to 1280 and there literally no rewards? What's the point of even keeping them?!

The Bright Dust changes make me want to engage in the core activities even less.

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 08:24 AM PST

For a season that's putting a heavy emphasis on core activities it's a real shame that Bungie not only haven't touched them almost at all except for Gambit (While keeping the bounties literally the same) but also nerfed the weekly Dust bounties too.

What is my incentive to run the 3 years old strikes then? Why should I engage in the stasis-dominant PvP, or waste my time in Gambit that I never really enjoyed? Seasonal activity that has a loot pool I'm very not-interested in? (Guys, look, a LINEAR Fusion rifle! I'm sure everyone's stoked about it...) At least in the past year I had the incentive to do my weeklies if I saw something cool in the BD store, but now I can't even do that because I'm only earning a HALF of what I did before. An exotic ghost shell? Should've been grinding your BD for 2 weeks prior bucko! Exotic emote? 3 weeks!

Not to mention that without third party websites, we don't even know whether there will be something interesting for us in the store; It wasn't an issue before, since if there was, we could just do all weeklies for 3600 Dust total and get the unexpected cool item.

I get that the BD store is just a cherry on top, a way of earning paid cosmetics for free, but there was a good system in place already, then it was changed to be worse, but still okay, and now it's just horrible. Why? Couldn't we just have the increased Season pass Dust AS WELL AS 200 Bright Dust per weekly? I also understand that it's prioritising newer players who only use a single-character, they get more Dust overall now, but why the hell are you gutting more dedicated players?

Halving the rewards I was earning for over a year now for no good reason rrreeeallly doesn't make me want to run the core activities you've said you'll be putting more emphasis on, Bungie.

    .

    Edit:

"If you're playing core activities for Bright Dust only, maybe you shouldn't play them / Core activities shouldn't be played only for Dust". I agree, but also disagree. What else is there to get from them for me if I have all the rolls for the 3 new legendaries that I want. What do I do with my pinnacles if I'm already 1260? What do I do with the armour if I already have a decently rolled arrivals / hunt armour?

Bright Dust allows for the core activities to be somewhat relevant throughout the entire season, but now due to the nerf it doesn't feel like it. Instead it feels like you're supposed to max out the pass and forget about it.

I mapped all of the underground Moon Tunnels. Mostly to scale

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 06:51 AM PST

Mostly because I get lost in there constantly and no amount of videos and marked maps/guides for collectibles has helped in terms of that. After I wasted a good half an hour in there the other day and was unable to find a proper map of them, I decided it was time to sit down and really figure out where things were.

Here's the map for those interested

The sizing is very generalized but it's close, seeing as I literally ran around the Moon, pressed my poor Guardian's face into walls, then opened the map to see where about they were before starting to map it in a drawing program. Other than that, it was pretty interesting to see where these tunnels fall in relation to the rest of the Moon (especially considering the Chamber of Night stretches down to essentially directly below Eris).

For the love of god please fix the bugs in Garden

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 02:38 PM PST

Trying to sherpa a divinity run, everything goes well until the final encounter. Between motes falling through the floor, rebuild nodes not despawning so my team can tether to the boss, and the boss tether being invulnerable when it shouldn't be, we must have wiped 10 times. We ended up not finishing due to the bugs. I know it's a meme phrase but it was literally unplayable. Please fix it.

Bungie, it's time to start answering the real questions. Where is the Vroom Vroom Sword?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 10:34 AM PST

So, Bequest, the raid sword exists. No one really seems to like or care about it. And honestly its perk pool isn't that great or unique, compared to the awesome exclusive perks the other raid weapons have like Reconstruction. I mean I guess Thresh on a sword is kinda useful, that's about it. You can't even get the classic Relentless Strikes/Whirlwind Blade combo.

However, look at Bequest in Collections or any API-integrated site and you'll see that it actually has a "curated" roll: Killing Wind and Assassin's Blade. This is noteworthy, because Bequest is one of two raid weapons to have a unique collections roll that has perks they cannot roll with normally. This is odd, because it seems like they were chosen specifically to synergize with each other, and it's a perk combination we've never seen before, so there was clearly some intent (or perhaps, curation) here. Why spend the time adding that to the game if we cannot actually obtain it?

(Fun fact: the other raid weapon with a roll it cannot actually get is Posterity which has Genesis.)

So far neither of these "curated" rolls actually exist in game. I was holding out to see if maybe they would possibly drop from the raid challenges, but that didn't happen.

Now you may be wondering. "Assassin's Blade and Killing Wind? Who cares about that roll anyways? It's not like it would even be meta." Well you see, both perks give you a mobility boost after you get a kill. I'm assuming that, if they were both on the sword, then the mobility boosts would stack. Which means:

    1. I want this sword for the sole meme of killing enemies and zooming around the map at ridiculous speed. That sounds stupid and hilarious so I want to do it.

    2. The massive mobility boost could legitimately be very useful, and pretty cool, for any Hunter builds that revolve around dodging, or by extension, melees. (For any of those unaware: this is because both Assassin's Blade and Killing Wind literally just give your character a temporarily higher mobility stat, which makes your Hunter dodge cooldown charge faster.)

So Bungie, I ask you now, as there are no avenues left. Where is my goddamn Vroom Vroom Sword?

Edit: also, I just remembered that Bequest is Arc, and Mask of Bakris exists, which buffs the damage of Arc weapons after dodging. See what I mean for build possibility!

Nobody at Bungie with any power is reading all these effort posts about the game's failings, and they certainly don't care. Only engagement metrics matter.

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 10:57 PM PST

Don't like it, stop playing, it's the only message they'll hear.

You can post all you want here and rack up tens of thousands of post karma and a bunch of little reddit awards and as long as you're still logging in and playing the game the only thing Bungie sees is another engaged player.

There's no such thing as conditional support, if you're playing the game you're signaling that you're happy by your continued engagement.

    That simple.

Vaulting the four planets was honestly fine; vaulting Black Armory and Leviathan content shouldn't have happened.

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 01:38 PM PST

Hot take, cold take, I don't know, but I wanted to give a couple thoughts on this.

First off: the planets. I'm not going to pretend like I didn't enjoy Mars, it was a fun destination with interesting quirks and a cool aesthetic (granted, most of that Europa is just a +1 for). The rest? I mean Titan's arcology was kinda neat, but these planets were just not as fun, interesting, relevant, or overall necessary as the others in the game, and I think Bungie knew that. Think about it this way: even if all of Sloane, Ana, Asher, and Vance's items were unsunset, would you really spend that much time in their respective destinations? Maybe that's an unfair comparison, so how about: if all destinations' items were unsunset, which would you be least likely to visit? For a lot of people, I bet it would be the four mentioned (though I could see some saying Nessus too, I'll get to that). Given this, I think it's okay that the planets were vaulted, but, and this is the key part, the way they were vaulted made sense. The pyramids taking over worlds in the solar system, essentially trapping them in some extraspacial-dark matter-singularity-whatever state, fits with the story. But you know what wasn't transformed/captured by the pyramids? The Leviathan.

And this is where part 2 of the post comes in. At the most basic level, everything from the Black Armory and Leviathan content was either part of the currently remaining planets: Nessus primarily, containing half the forges and all Leviathan content, but also the EDZ for forges and Niobe, the Tangled Shore for Last Word, and the Dreaming City for Izanagi. Now, there was one step for Izanagi that was not in one of those, but guess where it was? The Leviathan! Indeed, these pieces of content were, unlike all of Year 3's seasons, Year 1's campaigns, or the Haul-based Joker's Wild content, contained within themselves and existing areas. The only exception here is the Scourge Raid, but this ties in to part 3: why I think these areas should not have been vaulted.

If you haven't been living under a rock the past two months, you'll know there's been a fair bit of discussion/debate/screaming about content quantity. What it largely boils down to is a) lack of endgame content, b) issues with replayable gameplay loops, and c) general lack of loot (something Bungie has since addressed and committed to changing). Forges and Menagerie may not be the freshest loops, but personally, I still found them entertaining, if not for the fact shown in Arrivals that their loot would soon go out of use. The same notion applies to Scourge and Crown as raids. As for the other three raids, like has been said to death already, these would have seen a massive uptick in interest if only the loot had been converted to random rolls. Taken together, it's pretty easy to see that this content would go a long way towards fixing problems a) and b), and for c), I think I know exactly how to use these to fix that one too, as well as other problems while we're at it:

    1. Reintroduce that content. It's already in D2-ready state, and would likely only need changes to fit the new engine.
    2. Give random rolls to the Leviathan, Eater, and Spire loot, please just please.
    3. Replace the Forsaken loot in Menagerie with the loot from 2-4 seasons ago that is no longer attainable but still not sunset as a prescriptive method of reaquiring it (Note: this could be continually updated each season to function exactly as the 'prescriptive acquisition' that Bungie wants)
    4. Unsunset the remaining loot - Forge frames/prototypes, Scourge and Crown loot, and the Menagerie/Opulent set

With the exception of engine reworks, I honestly don't see this as being that difficult - it is literally updating numbers on existing loot, and swapping some drops around, both of which Bungie does all the time. But not just that - it would fit the world/story, be contained within the remaining unvaulted content, and in my opinions, do wonders to fix many of the issues that D2 is currently facing in the community.

We need a season like Black Armory that's based on Exotic armour pieces, and revamping the useless unused exotic armor.

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 01:14 PM PST

We need an overhaul of exotic armor, I feel like weapons get most of the shine and armour gets left in the dust alot. We need NEW not returning Exotic armor and a rework of alot of armor pieces that little to no use like Aeon soul for example. These pieces are struggling and need new or reworked perks to make them useable again. Beyond Light actually made me excited about the new armor and it delivered on that too. Necrotic Grip for example was one of the best armor pieces I've used in destiny for a looooong time, and we need more of that. The way that you could pair the Necrotic Grip with Thorn was really game changing. In short, please give us more new armor pieces and make the useless ones useable.

Take your time, read the room so to speak and if you see them specifically not going for the heroic version they by all means melt the Walker with your Prometheus Lens, otherwise help out or just fucking leave.

What makes it even more infuriating is we were mere seconds away from triggering the Heroic Event.

Bungie please don't be so stingy with IB loot

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 03:29 PM PST

I've played hours upon hours of iron banner, farmed endless tokens and have gotten a total 0 guns or armor pieces worth keeping. We can't choose between armor and weapon drops from the tokens, post-match drops are very infrequent and the overall lootpool isn't very exciting.

So to keep it short, here is my Bungie-to-do-list for IB:

    • Grant at least 1 IB specific drop every match
    • Introduce repeatable bounties for higher token income
    • Let us choose between armor and weapon packages (for all token-vendors please)
    • Make the lootpool more exciting, aka more meta-weapons, e.g. a good shotgun
    • Remove useless perks from guns thus making farming a specific weapon more accesible

Just as a start. Honestly, farming for a decent Steadyhand or Bite of the Fox is so goddamn tiring. I don't get why we need to be so stingy about loot if it's primary purpose is pvp use. I can't even get a single decent roll for any of the two, so what's the point in farming IB?

Experienced my first actual Destiny griefing a couple of days ago.

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 08:51 PM PST

Let me preface by saying, I have been in a ton of activities with AFK players, I've never considered this griefing, I always give them the benefit of the doubt, people have lives, I personally have entered strikes or gambit then some sudden emergency happens and I have to get up and take care of it while the game goes on, not a big deal....this was nothing like that. And it was very odd.

So, I was doing the Arms Dealer strike the other day (y'now, because it comes up like 70% of the time in the playlist rotation...) and ended up with a guardian who decided to grab the fuel cell then go stand by the dunk slot and just emote over and over (including the boohoo crying emote)

It didn't take long before the other fireteam member dropped to orbit and I followed suit, but it got me thinking...why?

We are literally like 2 minutes into this strike...you aren't really hurting our time in any meaningful way. What pleasure does someone take from griefing like this?

An update on PC fps and performance issues would be appreciated

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 09:08 AM PST

After the initial feedback on the issue, bungie created a megathread on https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/257630620 and pinned the post, asking people to paste bin their specs and descriptions of the issues.

Since this single acknowledgment, there has been 1 more mention of this topic, with a fix date of January. Present day, they unpinned the megathread, which this https://imgur.com/a/pNk6A8H shows. Top screenshot is early December, bottom is now.

This could mean two things, that they have found a fix, unpinned the megathread, and are planning a fix soon. Or, this issue has simply been swept under the rug.

This isn't an angry post trying to flame Bungie for this, and I know that they're are a lot more pressing issues in the game like core activities, amount of loot, etc.

A simple "Yes a fix will be going out by blank month" would be greatly appreciated.

    100 IB Matches analyzed - Rewards/Matchmaking/Mercies

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 12:58 PM PST

Hi everyone, this is gonna be a quick one:

    Matchmaking:
I only freelanced. Tried my best. Didnt use stasis. Games were pretty sweaty.

    64-36 W/L
32 Games endes in a mercy
16 Games of those mercies, the matchmaking completly failed -> Lost before reaching 20 score
5 Games Join in Progress -> all were a loss/mercy

So 33% for me ended in a mercy. Every third game has complete dogshit matchmaking.

    Rewards:
34 Postgame Rewards. So I would say for me it was 1 IB drop every third game.

    Tokens earned on 3 Chars -> 1028 -> 51 drops
Of those 85 total drops, I got 21 dead drops (Class Items and Rocketlaunchers).
Of those remaning 64 drops I kept 4 items.

Steadyhand droprate for me 5/85 for those who are wondering

Worst thing in all those 100 Games were the connections I was getting. Playing at prime time from central Europe and getting so laggy lobbies was very demoralizing to keep going.
Example A: playing at 6 PM my time against and with chinese players (actually chinese, steamprofile and clan were chinese)

Conclusion: Do your 4 bounties and get the hell out. Not worth it
